WE HAVE OWNED A 2011 TOYOTA SIENNA FOR 1.5 WEEKS. YESTERDAY OUR 3 YEAR OLD'S HAND BECAME STUCK IN THE SLIDING DOOR. HE HAD JUST EXITED THE CAR AND HIS HAND WAS IN THE PATH OF THE DOOR AS IT WAS SLIDING CLOSED. THE DOOR DID NOT RETRACT. IT CLOSED TIGHTLY AND A MINUTE OR SO PASSED BEFORE THE DOOR WAS ABLE TO BE OPENED. WE TOOK HIM TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM. NO BREAK WAS EVIDENT ON THE X RAYS BUT THE DOCTOR SAID AN EXAM BY AN ORTHOPEDIC DOCTOR NEXT WEEK, AFTER THE SWELLING HAS SUBSIDED, WILL CONFIRM WHETHER THERE IS A BREAK OR FRACTURE. THE ER DOCTOR PUT A FIBERGLASS CAST ON HIS ARM AND TOLD US TO FOLLOW UP WITH AN ORTHOPEDIC DOCTOR AFTER THE WEEKEND. *TR
2011 TOYOTA SIENNA: THE FLOOR RUG ON THE REAR RIGHT SIDE OF THE PASSENGER SEAT KEEPS ROLLING UP, CAUSING AN UNAWARE PASSENGER ENTERING OR EXITING FROM/TO THE THIRD ROW SEAT OF THE VEHICLE TO TRIP OVER IT. IT'S A SAFETY HAZARD. *TR
I BOUGHT A 2011 TOYOTA SIENNA LE IN MARCH 2010 AND HAVE 1200 MILES ON IT. I BELIEVE THE SIENNA AS ACCELERATION ISSUES WHEN IN CRUISE CONTROL. I TURNED ON THE CRUISE CONTROL TO KEEP THE SPEED AT 60 MPH ON THE BRIDGE. WHILE GOING UPHILL, THE SIENNA WAS ACCELERATING TO MAINTAIN SPEED WHICH WAS OK BUT WHEN GOING DOWNHILL IT JUST WON'T STOP ACCELERATING AND THE SPEED WENT UPTO 75-80 MPH WHEN I HIT THE BREAKS AND TURNED OFF THE CRUISE CONTROL. I TRIED THE SAME IN ANOTHER UPHILL/DOWNHILL LOCATION ON ROUTE 1 AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED. PLEASE LOOK INTO THE ISSUE AND HAVE TOYOTA TAKE REMEDIAL ACTION. THE OTHER ISSUE I FOUND WAS THE UNTIMELY CHANGE IN GEAR. THIS HAPPENED WHEN I HIT THE BRAKES TO GO OVER A SPEED-REDUCER AND THEN HIT THE ACCELERATION PEDAL. USUALLY THERE IS A GEAR SHIFT AROUND 20-40 MPH, BUT IN THIS CASE THE GEAR JUST WASN'T SHIFTING AND THE RPM WENT ON RISING. I STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND STARTED AGAIN AND THINGS SEEMED TO BE ALRIGHT. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME WITH THE SIENNA A NUMBER OF TIMES. THE THIRD ISSUE IS THAT WHEN I TURN QUICKLY THE STEERING SEEMS TO BECOME NON-RESPONSIVE FOR A FEW SECONDS AND SEEMS TO GET STUCK. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6) 2011 TOYOTA SIENNA TURN INDICATOR IS NOT AUDIBLE AND DOES NOT DISENGAGE WHEN CHANGING LANES ON THE INTERSTATE THE FOLLOWING LETTER WAS SENT TO TOYOTA: MAY 16, 2010 [XXX] SUBJECT: 2011 TOYOTA SIENNA TURN INDICATOR DESIGN FLAW DEAR SIR: I HAVE BEEN LOOKING INTO BUYING A 2011 TOYOTA SIENNA LIMITED WITH ALL THE OPTIONS. SO I RENTED A NEW 2011 TOYOTA SIENNA LE (ONLY 900+ MILES) FROM AVIS FOR A WEEKLONG TRIP (1500 MILES). THE CAR DRIVES VERY NICELY. HOWEVER, I WAS AMAZED THAT I COULD NOT HEAR THE TURN INDICATOR BEEPER WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE WITH THE RADIO ON AT A MODERATE SOUND LEVEL. IN ADDITION, THE TURN INDICATOR SWITCH IS NOT SENSITIVE ENOUGH TO DISENGAGE AFTER CHANGING LANES. TOYOTA'S DESIGN ENGINEERS SHOULD BE ASHAMED TO HAVE THIS SERIOUS DESIGN FLAW ON A NEWLY INTRODUCED VEHICLE! THERE ARE PLENTY OF AUDIBLE DEVICES ON THE VEHICLE THAT COULD SOUND AFTER THE TURN INDICATOR HAS BE ENGAGED FOR 5, 10, 15 SECONDS WITHOUT BEING DISENGAGED. TOYOTA COULD HAVE PROGRESSIVE AUDIBLE TONES, WITH A LAST RESORT OF SOUNDING THE HORN INTERMITTENTLY. JUST DO SOMETHING, BEFORE YOU HAVE MILLIONS OF THESE VEHICLES IN SERVICE. A CAR GOING DOWN THE ROAD WITH A 'FALSE TURN INDICATION' IS DANGEROUS TO EVERYONE ON THE HIGHWAY! AS A RESULT OF THIS EXPERIENCE I AM NOT GOING TO BUY A 2011 TOYOTA SIENNA LIMITED UNTIL THIS ISSUE IS RESOLVED. IN FACT, IT WOULD NOT BE BAD ADVERTISING FOR ALL TOYOTA VEHICLES TO HAVE THIS AS A STANDARD FEATURE. TOYOTA CAN GIVE ME NEW VEHICLES FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE, AS COMPENSATION FOR THE IDEA! 2011 SIENNA XLE FRONT PASSENGER AND MIDDLE ROW SEAT BACKS ARE NOT SECURE. THERE IS PLAY AND MOVEMENT IN THE SEAT BACK MECHANISM TO GIVE THE ILLUSION THAT THE ENTIRE SEAT IS SLIDING FORWARD WHEN YOU APPLY THE BRAKES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT OBSERVED DURING THE OPENING OF EITHER ONE OF THE TWO PASSENGER SIDE POWER DOORS THERE WOULD BE AN UNUSUAL POPPING NOISE. ALSO, THE POWER DOORS FAILED TO LATCH PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THAT THE POWER DOORS FUNCTIONED AS DESIGNED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER DRIVING IN RAINY WEATHER CONDITIONS THERE WERE SPOTS ON THE WINDSHIELD THAT AFFECTED HIS VISION. AFTER ATTEMPTING TO CLEAN THE SPOTS OFF OF THE WINDSHIELD, HE WAS UNABLE TO REMOVE THEM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE SPOTS ARE EMBEDDED WITHIN THE WINDSHIELD. THE WINDSHIELD WAS REPLACED. APPROXIMATELY A WEEK AND A HALF LATER THE FAILURE RECURRED AFTER DRIVING IN RAINY WEATHER CONDITIONS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SPOTS WERE ONLY VISIBLE AT NIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AFTER THE WINDSHIELD WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 2,950.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR VIEW MIRROR WAS VIBRATING WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS AND IT WAS OBSTRUCTING HIS VIEW. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING AS DESIGNED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF THE FAILURE. NONE OF THE REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 16,000. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
The contact owns a 2011 Toyota Sienna. The contact stated that the air bag warning light was intermittently illuminated while driving. The contact stated that the warning light turned off while restarting the vehicle. Additionally, the contact stated that the sliding doors failed to function automatically and required to be opened or closed manually. The contact stated that while attempting to open the front driver's side door in icy and snowy weather, the door made an abnormal cracking sound and failed to open. The contact stated that the passenger's side door made an abnormal cracking sound but opened as intended. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 9,999.
