In August 2025, AutoNation Toyota on Sahara, checked the VIN of my Toyota Sienna and contacted Toyota while I was present. Toyota confirmed a broken fuel-door hinge was covered under a Customer Support Program. Instead, AutoNation attempted to repair, rather than replace, the hinge. This caused the metal fuel cap door to end up bent, paint to be gouged out from the bottom of the fuel door area, misalignment of the fuel door, and therefore issues with the door’s sensor reading correctly. I took the van back until they received shipment of a new fuel cap door. After the attempted repair, since the fuel door no longer aligned, the safety sensors repeatedly activated which strained the sliding-door ECU. The passenger sliding door began freezing intermittently, forcing my children to exit through the trunk several times. Finally, the door opened on its own as I was driving down the street. These issues did not exist prior to dealership service and presented a clear safety concern. Between October and December, I received conflicting explanations from Gerald, James, Ivan, and Rudy at AutoNation Toyota regarding whether the issue involved the fuel door, ECU, motor, or general wear and tear. AutoNation repeatedly failed to return my calls or respond to the emails I sent them. Toyota Corporate also informed me the dealership was also not responding to their outreach attempts after I contacted them due to not being able to get ahold of AutoNation Toyota. I emailed four managers on October 15 with detailed documentation and received no response. My vehicle remains unsafe, unrepaired, and in the possession of AutoNation Toyota. I approve allowing it to be inspected. While at AutoNation, the vehicle driver could not open the passenger sliding door after AutoNation's attempted repair. They have had my van for 4 months now so no one else has looked at or inspected it. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure.
I have had this car for 7 years. Started having issues a year ago and despite bringing it to Toyota 2x, they cannot tell me what the issue is. I will be driving on a regular flat paved road when the car will suddenly brake and pull me towards the side of the road. I get the ABS code sometimes and also the slip indicator light. I've explained this each x I've brought it in and they have told me it's due to me "driving too fast" or "accidentally having my foot on the brake." LOL I am a typical soccer mom and drive conservatively and don't brake when I don't have to. It will do it on curving roads as well as straight roads. When this happens, it is terrifying! I have gone to different mechanics as well and no one can determine this issue. I've replaced the ABS sensors on this and am still having this issue. I don't know what else to do, as this is unsafe and unsafe to the extent that I no longer allow my 17 year old to drive it. Please help!!!!!!!!
All interior dome/lights (door side lights, visor mirror lights, all overhead passenger lights, etc) not lighting up at all. Fuse in engine compartment is good. Vehicle has been at auto dealership where originally purchased. Safety concerns are that at night, unable to determine if there has been access by person or if person is actually in vehicle. Vehicle diagnoses was begun on 6/12/2023 and is still in process of issues. Received a call from the service representative on 6/19/2023 that water had accumulated under the fuse box in the engine compartment causing corrosion at the connection of the wire harness to the underside of the fuse box. Initially this caused the the internal lights to fail. There is much more corrosion occurring which will eventually cause a complete electrical failure and possible engine failure/fire. Current recommendation from service manager is to completely replace the wire harness at a cost of $7,000+. Insurance may or may not cover the cost of repair. The insurance adjuster is meeting today with the service manager. In my opinion, this is a serious defect in Toyota Sienna manufacturing, design and materials used.
We got into an accident today, and none of the sliding doors would not slide open. It would not even allow us to pull the doors opens. The vehicles electrical was damaged, but that should not prevent the other doors from opening. This is a very bad situation if someone is needing to evacuate the vehicle. The rear passengers would be trapped. Please address this issue with Toyota asap. People who usually have Vans have big families and small children. This would be a very bad situation if vehicle needed to be evacuated asap. The rear passengers would be stuck.
Head unit kept rebooting.
The contact owns a 2015 Toyota Sienna. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start after several attempts. The contact stated that she was quadriplegic and was unable to exit the vehicle because the door lock switch was disengaged but failed to respond. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that she was able to jumpstart the vehicle with assistance. The contact then engaged and disengaged the door lock switch and she was able to exit the vehicle. The contact stated that she notified the modifier of the vehicle, but they said they could not assist with the failure. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 48,000. The VIN was not available.
SLIDING DOORS ARE PONE WHEN CAR IS UN MONTN, THIS PROBLEM WILL CAUSE A FATAL ACCIDENTS,THE WATER PUMP HAS A DEFECTS.
The vehicle rear sliding door had a recall. I had the recall preformed at Smithtown Toyota. After the correction was done. I continue to have same issues with the drivers side rear sliding door. Where it will not open when pushing the open button on my controls in the front. Or when my child 12 years old attempts to manually open the door. As this does not happen all the times. The dealer says they can not replicate the problem and it is working to manufacture standards. I spoke with Toyota corporate and they are aware of continued problems with the sliding rear doors. the have a customer support group, but I would have to pay for the dealer to inspect the vehicle. I have extended warranty so they said I wouldn't then have to pay. However every time you take it in with a problem they can never replicate the problem. They are not the only dealer with this response. It must be a set line throughout all brands as its always that answer until your warranty expires. When it expires then all of a sudden they can find all problems and fix everything.
DRIVING 35-55 MPH AND GOING AROUND (USUALLY) A LEFT CURVE ON THE HIGHWAY OR INTERSTATE, VAN SUDDENLY BRAKES, SWERVES, AND TRACTION CONTROL/VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT POPS ON. WHOLE EPISODE LASTS A SECOND OR TWO, THEN ITS FINE. IT WONT HAPPEN AGAIN FOR THE DURATION OF THE TRIP. I ONLY DRIVE THE VAN ON WEEKENDS, AND IT HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES IN THE PAST TWO WEEKS. IT HAS NEARLY CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT.
AT VARIOUS TIMES, THE SLIDING DOORS WILL NOT CLOSE WHEN THE POWER BUTTON IS ON. I HAVE RECEIVED A CARD TO GET THIS FIXED AS SENSORS NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY IN A PARKING SPACE. IT IS HAPPENING MORE OFTEN NOW.
CABLE TO OPEN AUTOMATIC DOOR BROKE WAS TOLD THIS IS NOT COVERED IN THE LATCH SYSTEM RECALL. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AT TIME OF CABLE BREAK. ALSO BACK UP CAMERA DOESN'T WORK PROPERLY AND TOUCH SCREEN RAIDO/BACK UP CAMERA CONTINUE TO RESET ITSELF WHEN DRIVING
VAN WOULD REBOOT WHILE PARKED OR DRIVING. IT STARTED WITH DASHBOARD REBOOTING THEN I COULDN'T START THE VAN. THERE WAS A TIME AFTER DRIVING I PUT THE VAN IN PARK AND TURNED IT OFF BUT MY VAN WAS MOVING ON IT'S OWN. I ALWAYS CALL THE DEALERSHIP WHEN THE REBOOTING OCCURS. I WAS TOLD EITHER IT WAS A SOFTWARE ISSUE OR SINCE THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY, I SHOULD BE FINE. WELL RECENTLY WHEN MY VAN STALLED AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. I WAS TOLD IT WAS A BATTERY ISSUE AND THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED. WHEN I PICKED UP MY VAN AND WENT HOME, NOTICED MY REAR VIEW CAMERA WOULD NOT COME ON WENT I PUT THE VAN IN REVERSE. CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO TELL THEM WHAT'S GOING ON AND THE SERVICE ADVISOR WOMAN WAS VERY RUDE AND STATED IT WAS BATTERY AND THEY NEVER CHECKED ANYTHING ELSE. I STATED TO THE WOMAN THE I'VE ALWAYS EXPRESSED MY CONCERNS ABOUT THE VAN REBOOTING, WON'T START, OR MOVING ON IT'S OWN. THE WOMAN BECAME VERY RUDE AND HUNG UP ON ME. I DECIDED TO GO RIGHT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP ON THE WAY THERE I CALLED BACK TO SPEAK TO THE MANAGER OF SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO EXPLAIN WHAT'S GOING ON. WHILE DRIVING THERE THE CHECK ENGINE AND ANOTHER LIGHT TURNED ON. SHORTLY AFTER THAT AS I WAS TURNING LEFT, WHILE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION MY VAN STALLED. THE STEERING WHEEL AND BRAKES LOCKED AND THE VAN COMPLETELY SHUTS OFF. I WAS LOCKED IN MY VAN WITH NO CONTROL OVER THE VAN AND IT WAS MOVING TOWARDS A POLE. LUCKILY THE VAN STOPPED BEFORE HITTING ANYONE OR ANYTHING. I WAS ON THE PHONE WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER THE ENTIRE TIME. THE MANAGER CALLED FOR SOMEONE TO PICK ME UP AND CALLED A TOW COMPANY. I ASKED THE MANGER IF THEY ARE STATING MY ISSUE WAS A BATTERY AND A NEW BATTERY WAS INSTALLED WHY AM I STILL HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. THE POLICE WAS CALL BECAUSE SOMEONE REPORTED MY VAN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION.

PASSENGER SIDE POWER SLIDING DOOR CONSTANTLY MALFUNCTIONING. IT OPENED AFTER A BUMP WHILE TRAVELING 65 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE. WE HAD TO PULL OVER TO CLOSE THE DOOR. IT ALSO DEPLOYED THE WHEELCHAIR RAMP WHILE MOVING BECAUSE THE POWER DOOR IS THE SAME SIDE AS THE RAMP.. MAKE THE MANUFACTURER FIX IT OR MAKE THE WHEELCHAIR CONVERSION COMPANY FIX IT. THE DASH WAS RANDOMLY FREEZING FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES AND THEN RESET ITSELF WHILE DRIVING. ONCE IT RESET ITSELF, IT WENT BACK TO THE DEFAULT SETTINGS. IT WAS AT HEART CITY TOYOTA MULTIPLE TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM. EACH TIME THEY SAID THAT THEY COULD NOT GET IT TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. AFTER DROPPING IT OFF IN APRIL OF 2017, THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT HE WAS ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM OF THE DASH RESETTING. HE DID A SOFTWARE UPDATE AND A HARD-RESET IN ORDER TO TRY FIXING IT. LOW AND BEHOLD, TWO DAYS LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN. AFTER HAVING IT AT HEART CITY TOYOTA TO HAVE THE PROBLEM WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL LIGHT FLICKERING, FOR THE FIFTH TIME, FIXED, I REPORTED ABOUT THE DASH STILL HAVING THE PROBLEM OF RESETTING ITSELF. THE MANAGER OF HEART CITY TOYOTA TOLD ME AT THAT POINT THAT I AM NOT WELCOME BACK TO THEIR DEALERSHIP. AFTER CONTACTING TOYOTA CORPORATE ABOUT THIS, I WAS TOLD THAT THEY ARE ABLE TO REFUSE SERVICE EVEN WITH THE WARRANTY STILL PRESENT. THEY EXPLAINED THAT I NEEDED TO TAKE IT TO ANOTHER TOYOTA DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT DIAGNOSED. SO I CONTACTED JORDAN TOYOTA AND EXPLAINED THE SITUATION. THE SERVICE MANAGER THERE INFORMED ME THAT IF HEART CITY TOYOTA WAS NOT ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM, THEN THEY WERE NOT GOING TO START FROM SCRATCH TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM THEMSELVES. THREE WEEKS LATER, WHILE DRIVING ON A COUNTY ROAD, THE DASH BEGAN TO SMOKE AND I PULLED OFF OF THE ROAD. WHEN IT BEGAN TO SMOKE EVEN MORE, I EXITED THE VEHICLE AND AS I WAS GETTING AS FAR AWAY AS I COULD I SEEN FLAMES. I CALLED 9-1-1 RIGHT AWAY. BY THE TIME THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS ABLE TO GET THERE AND EXTINGUISH THE FIRE, THE VAN WAS DESTROYED. WHICH ENDED UP BEING A TOTAL LOSS. ALL OF WHICH SEEMED TO BE DUE TO AN ELECTRICAL FIRE IN THE DASH. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS HURT.
