THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V542000 (TIRES) HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE REPAIRED DUE TO THE FRAME BEING CORRODED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
DRIVING VERY SLOW ON A ROUGH TERRAIN LOGGING ROAD AND AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND HAS NOT GONE OFF. *TR
FRAME RUST CRACKED SUBURBAN TOYOTA HAS IMPOUNDED THE TRUCK STATED UNSAFE TO DRIVE. *TR
THE BACK BRAKES ON MY TACOMA FROZE UP CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SPIN OUT OF CONTROL. I COULD OF BEEN KILLED OR SERIOUSLY HURT. THE BRAKES FROZE UP CAUSING THE SKID AND THE PARKING BRAKE CABLE SNAPPED. THERE WAS A NEW FRAME PUT ON UNDER A RECALL ALONG WITH THE CABLE LESS THAN 2 YEARS AGO. I NOTIFIED TOYOTA OF A POSSIBLE DEFECT CAUSE I DON'T WANT ANYONE HURT BUT THEY HAVE NOT RESPONDED BACK. *TR
HELLO I BOUGHT A USED 2003 TOYOTA TACOMA IN MA A LITTLE OVER ONE YEAR AGO. TOYOTA HAS VOLUNTARILY RECALLED THE VEHICLE DUE TO FRAME FAILURE. MY TRUCK WAS TESTED AND THE FRAME FAILED. TOYOTA SAYS THEY WILL HONOR THE RECALL AND REPLACE MY FRAME FOR FREE. BUT, THEY HAVE NO FRAMES. I AM TOLD THAT THERE IS A DELAY FOR AN UNDETERMINED AMOUNT OF TIME, AND HAVE BEEN WARNED THAT IT MAY BE MANY MONTHS OR LONGER. HOW LONG DOES TOYOTA HAVE TO HONOR THIS RECALL LEGALLY BEFORE I HAVE SOME OTHER CONSUMER OPTION, SUCH AS VEHICLE REPLACEMENT? I FEEL DECEIVED, SINCE THIS TRUCK HAS BARELY BEEN DRIVEN, COST $16,000, AND IS NOW USELESS AND SITTING IN THE REPAIR SHOP INDEFINITELY, WITH NO ESTIMATED REPAIR DATE. TOYOTA HEADQUARTERS AND THE DEALER SAY THEY "HAVE NO FURTHER INFORMATION". HOW LONG SHOULD I WAIT INDEFINITELY? DO I HAVE ANY CONSUMER PROTECTION IN THIS CASE? THANK YOU. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 TOYOTA TACOMA. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, A CHIMING NOISE ACTIVATED IN THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,700.
I RECEIVED A FRAME RECALL FOR OUR 2005 TACOMA BUT NOT OUR 2003 TACOMA. I CHECKED WITH THE LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE RECALLS FOR THE 2003 HAVE PASSED BUT THEY WILL REPLACE THE FRAME IF I PAY $2,900 OUT OF POCKET AND THEY WILL COVER THE REST. I BOUGHT THE TRUCK USED 18 MONTHS AGO AND DID NOT RECEIVE A RECALL NOTICE. I CHECKED WITH THE PREVIOUS OWNER WHO ADVISED THAT HE DID NOT RECEIVE ONE. I AM SUSPECT THAT THIS INFORMATION IS WRONG AND WILL BE CHECKING INTO IT WITH TOYOTA. THE FRAME IS BROKEN AT THE POINT WHERE THE REAR LEAF SPRING ROTTED TO THE POINT OF A DISCONNECT FROM THE FRAME. CARBONE TOYOTA INSPECTED IT AND ADVISED ME TO HAVE IT REPLACED. *TR
THIS TRUCK IS ONLY 11 YEARS OLD AND THE FRAME IS RUSTED OUT. THERE IS A HOLE ABOUT 12 INCHES LONG IN THE FRAME RAIL, ON THE RIGHT SIDE, WHICH CAUSED MY SHOCK MOUNT TO BREAK IN THE REAR OF THE TRUCK. I CALLED TOYOTA AND THEY WON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I TOLD THEM I WOULD NEVER BUY ANOTHER TOYOTA. THIS FRAME SHOULD LAST LONGER THAN 11 YEARS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 TOYOTA TACOMA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE CONTACT FELT MOVEMENT AND HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR DRIVER SIDE AXLE. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DISCOVERED EXCESSIVE CORROSION ON THE SUB FRAME AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 TOYOTA TACOMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT UPON INSPECTION, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE FRAME WAS RUSTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO CONFIRMED THAT THE FRAME HAD RUSTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
IN MAY 2014 WHILE HAVING MY VEHICLE SERVICED BY A MECHANIC HE BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION A SERIOUS AND ONGOING ISSUE WITH THE FRAME OF MY 2003 TOYOTA TACOMA. I AM EXPERIENCING A SERIOUS MATERIAL DEFECT IN THE FRAME OF THIS VEHICLE. THE PROBLEM I AM EXPERIENCING IS NOT NORMAL. I AM REFERRING TO A COMPLETE BREAKDOWN OF THE FRAME. I CONTACTED TOYOTA IN MAY 2014 TO FILE A FORMAL COMPLAINT. TOYOTA INFORMED ME THAT MY VEHICLE WAS RECALLED FOR A DEFECTIVE FRAME BUT THE RECALL HAD EXPIRED. I INFORMED TOYOTA THAT I DID NOT RECEIVE A RECALL FROM THEM AND REQUESTED THEM TO MAKE GOOD ON THE RECALL AND REPLACE MY FRAME. THEY AGAIN REFUSED MY REQUEST. ON MAY 22, 2014 I TOOK MY TACOMA TO MOTOR WORLD TOYOTA FOR A FRAME INSPECTION. THE INSPECTION FOUND PERFORATION ON THE LEFT REAR FRAME BY THE LEAF SPRING. THE INSPECTION ALSO STATED DUE TO FRAME PERFORATION THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE MECHANIC THAT EXAMINED OUR TRUCK STATED THAT THEY WERE REPLACING FRAMES ON A LARGE AMOUNT OF TOYOTA VEHICLES DUE TO THE FRAME DEFECT. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID HE WOULD REPORT HIS FINDINGS TO TOYOTA AND CONTACT US. A FEW DAYS LATER THE MANAGER CONTACTED US ONLY TO INFORM US AGAIN CORPORATE TOYOTA AGAIN REFUSED TO REPLACE THE FRAME. IN APRIL OF THIS YEAR I AGAIN CONTACT CORPORATE TOYOTA(CASE#1503280111) BY PHONE AND EMAIL TO REQUEST THEM TO HONOR THE RECALL FOR THE DEFECTIVE FRAME ONLY TO BE REFUSED AGAIN. I AM ASKING FOR ANY ASSISTANCE YOU CAN OFFER US. IT IS CRITICAL TO OUR FAMILY FOR TOYOTA TO HONOR THE RECALL ON THE FRAME OUR TRUCK. MY HUSBAND USES THE VEHICLE TO TRAVEL TO FREQUENT MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS. HE HAS BEEN TREATED SINCE APRIL 2012 FOR METASTATIC MALIGNANT MELANOMA. WE HAVE BEEN PREOCCUPIED WITH RADIATION, CHEMO, 3 SURGERIES AND FREQUENT APPOINTMENTS FOR CAT SCANS, PET SCANS ETC. WE DESPERATELY NEED THIS VEHICLE FOR CONTINUED TRANSPORTATION TO HIS MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS. *TR
CAR STUMBLES/HESITATES INTERMITTENTLY AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. HAVE SPENT TIME/MONEY TROUBLE SHOOTING THE PROBLEM/MAKING REPAIRS WITH NO AFFECT ON PROBLEM. PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE DRIVE BY WIRE THROTTLE BODY TOYOTA PART # 22030-62020 (TOYOTA DATA PER VIN SHOWS THIS PART SHOULD NOT BE ON MY CAR). TOYOTA HAS A PROGRAM TO REPLACE THROTTLE BODY IF FOUND TO BE DEFECTIVE (FOR A LIMITED TIME) EXCEPT PROBLEM CANNOT BE DUPLICATED IN THE SHOP AND IT DOES NOT CAUSE ANY CODES. ON-LINE RESEARCH INDICATED PROBLEM IS WITH THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR (TSP) OR THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR (APPS) ON THE THROTTLE BODY FAILING. RESEARCH INDICATES TOYOTA IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AS THEY WILL REPLACE PART FREE IF PROVEN DEFECTIVE AND APPARENTLY HAS REDESIGNED THEIR THROTTLE BODY. ISSUE IS, MOST OF THE TIME THE DEALER CANNOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM IN THE SHOP AND SINCE IT DOES NOT CAUSE A CODE THEY WILL NOT HONOR THE WARRANTY PROGRAM BECAUSE THEY WILL NOT BE REIMBURSED WITHOUT PROVING THE PART IS DEFECTIVE. THE PROBLEM WITH THIS THROTTLE BODY HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED IN VEHICLES WITH AS LITTLE AS 30000 MILES TO OVER 250000 MILES PER ON-LINE RESEARCH. WHILE RIDING WITH ME THE DEALER'S TECHNICIAN HAS SEEN AND FELT THE STUMBLE/HESITATION (RPM DROPS ABOUT 150 TO 250 RPM WHEN TRAVELING AT A CONSTANT SPEED FOR NO REASON) BUT HAS NEVER BEEN ABLE TO DUPLICATE IT IN THE SHOP OR IDENTIFY THE CAUSE. THIS STUMBLING/HESITATION OCCURS EVERYTIME THE CAR HAS BEEN DRIVEN FOR LONGER THAN 20-30 MINUTES SINCE THE 1ST OCCURRENCE. TWICE IT HAS STUMBLE WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN AT AN INTERSECTION CAUSING ME TO ALMOST GET HIT BY AN ON COMING VEHICLE. THIS THROTTLE BODY IS A NON-SERVICEABLE PART AND CANNOT BE REPAIRED, PER THE DEALER IT IS REQUIRED TO BE REPLACED AS A UNIT. THIS PART NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND TOYOTA REQUIRED TO REPLACE IT AT NO COST NOW INSTEAD OF ONLY WHEN IT FAILS BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED. *TR
VEHICLE HAS GONE THROUGH 2 RECALLS, FRAME AND SPARE TIRE HOLDER. BACK BUMPER IS CORRODING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 TOYOTA TACOMA. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 05V225000 (SUSPENSION) AND STATED THAT AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC BEFORE THE NOTIFICATION OF THE RECALL SPRAYED THE UNDERCARRIAGE. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE RECALL REPAIR WOULD NOT BE HONORED DUE TO THE COATING OF THE UNDERCARRIAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENTIRE FRAME WAS RUSTED AND CORRODED AND MAY FRACTURE. A LIFT PLATE INSPECTION WAS PERFORMED AND IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRAME WAS COVERED WITH UNDERCOATING AND THE LIFT PLATE WAS UNABLE TO BE REPAIRED DUE TO THE RUST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,880.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,650. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

MY 2003 MATRIX HAD LESS THAN 40,000 ORIGINAL MILES WHEN THE DASH AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON. TOYOTA RECALLED THE MATRIX FOR THIS PROBLEM AND WAS CORRECTED IN 2013. MY 2003 TACOMA TRUCK'S CURRENT MILEAGE IS ONLY 29,667 ORIGINAL MILES. AT APPROXIMATELY 28,000 MILES THE DASH AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON. A FRIEND WHO SPECIALIZES IN TOYOTA REPAIRS CHECKED IT AND SAID IT WAS THE B1100-AIR BAG SENSOR MODULE.. TOYOTA HAS YET TO RECALL THE 2003 TACOMA FOR AN AIR BAG PROBLEM.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR AN OIL CHANGE, THE MECHANIC NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A RUST HOLE THAT HAD RUSTED THROUGH THE FRAME NEAR THE RIGHT REAR PASSENGER'S SIDE. THE DIAGNOSIS WAS THAT THE FRAME NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 118,500. UPDATED 10/22/14*LJ

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT TIRE STOPED SPINNING FORCING THE VEHICLE TO VEER TO THE LEFT TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 145,000.
WE PURCHASED A USED TACOMA IN MARCH 2014. WE INSPECTED IT VERY CAREFULLY FOR RUST. NONE WAS NOTED. ABOUT 2 WEEKS LATER MY SON WAS CHANGING THE OIL AND NOTICED THAT RUST WAS APPEARING AROUND THE HOLES NEAR THE SWAY BAR. NOW THE HOLES ARE GETTING DANGEROUSLY LARGE. WE PROBABLY WON'T BE ABLE TO SAFELY DRIVE THE TRUCK IN A FEW MONTHS. THE FRAME RUSTS FROM THE INSIDE OUT SO YOU CAN'T SEE THE PROBLEM UNTIL IT'S TOO LATE. WE HAVE TALKED TO TOYOTA AND THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO HELP BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO RECORD OF IT BEING SPRAYED EVEN THOUGH I HAVE EVIDENCE IT WAS AT A TOYOTA DEALER SEVERAL TIMES THAT THEY DON'T HAVE. TOYOTA RECEIVED A SETTLEMENT FROM [XXX] FOR SUPPLYING THE DEFECTIVE FRAMES BUT THEY AREN'T WILLING TO FIX THEIR DEFECTIVE FRAMES. SOME ONE WHO DOESN'T SPEND MUCH TIME UNDERNEATH THEIR TRUCK IS GOING TO HAVE A FRAME BREAK WHILE THEY'RE SPEEDING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND GET HURT. WE ARE GOING TO BE OUT A LOT OF MONEY BECAUSE OF THIS DEFECTIVE FRAME. PLEASE HOLD TOYOTA ACCOUNTABLE BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE ENTIRE FRAME NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 180,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 TOYOTA TACOMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TURNING AT 10 MPH, THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE STEERING WHEEL AS THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE DROPPED TO THE GROUND. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHERE THE FRONT SUSPENSION LOWER BALL JOINT WAS FOUND TO BE SEPARATED, CAUSING THE FRONT SUSPENSION TO FAIL. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 05V225000 (SUSPENSION). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 175,640.
I NOTICED THE REAR SKID PLATE IS HANGING ON BY ONLY ONE SIDE ABOUT TO FALL OFF DUE TO RUST ON HARDWARE/PLATE WHEN DRIVING IN THE HIGHWAY PLATE WOBBLES UP AND DOWN. IT SEEMS LIKE IT WILL FALL WHILE DRIVING AND CAUSE A POSSIBLE ACCIDENT, OR INJURY. *TR

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT HE WAS WAITING FOR THE PARTS TO BECOME AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REPAIR UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V542000 (TIRES). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC THE THROTTLE STUCK AT ABOVE NORMAL IDLE AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS ABLE TO EXIT THE TRAFFIC BUT THE IDLE WOULD NOT COME BACK TO NORMAL CURB IDLE. WHAT MY MECHANIC HAS TOLD ME IS THAT THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY HAS FAILED AND THEY CAN ONLY GET THE PART FROM THE DEALER. IF THIS HAD HAPPENED ON THE FREEWAY THE OUTCOME COULD HAVE NOT BEEN SO GOOD. I HOPE TOYOTA IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND GOING TO ADDRESS THE SITUATION. *TR
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, I MOVED INTO THE LEFT LANE TO PASS ANOTHER CAR. WHEN I STEPPED ON THE ACCELERATOR THE NOSE PITCHED FORWARD AND THE ENGINE FELT LIKE IT WAS NOT GETTING ANY GAS. I WAS ABLE TO PRESS THE ACCELERATOR NEARLY ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR TO CONTINUE GETTING POWER TO THE ENGINE, BUT THE FIRST 2/3 OF THE PEDAL STROKE WERE COMPLETELY UNRESPONSIVE. A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND IT WAS DIAGNOSED AS A THROTTLE BODY ISSUE. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH, THIS SEEMS TO BE A WELL DOCUMENTED ISSUE ON A NUMBER OF TACOMA FORUMS. THE COST TO REPLACE WILL BE $1400 DOLLARS NEW OR $400 DOLLARS USED. I AM SKEPTICAL TO PURCHASE A REFURBISHED PART DUE TO THE KNOWN ISSUE WITH IT. THIS HAS HAPPENED A TOTAL OF 6 TIMES IN 3.5 YEARS OF OWNING THE VEHICLE AND SEEMS TO OCCUR IN COLDER WEATHER. TYPICALLY AFTER PULLING OVER AND SHUTTING THE CAR OFF FOR 30 SECONDS, THE ISSUE IS GONE. IT WILL UNDOUBTEDLY HAPPEN AGAIN, BUT YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN.
THE PROBLEM THAT EXISTS IS ON MY 2003 TOYOTA TACOMA. IT WILL ALL OF A SUDDEN LOSE POWER AND HAVE NO THROTTLE RESPONSE, ALMOST AS IF IT WAS HITTING AN ENGINE GOVERNOR. THE RPMS USUALLY DROP ANYWHERE FROM 200-500 AND THEN COMES BACK UP. THE POWER WOULD SLOWLY COME BACK AFTER KEEPING MY FOOT ON THE THROTTLE. IT CONSISTENTLY DOES IT AFTER ACCELERATING OUT OF AN INTERSECTION (USUALLY AROUND 25 MPH OR WHILE CRUISING (AROUND BOTH 45 MPH OR 75 MPH) ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS DROP OF POWER OR LACK THEREOF IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE, ESPECIALLY WHEN PULLING INTO AN INTERSECTION OR NEEDING QUICK ACCELERATION TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. THE FRAME ON MY TACOMA HAS ROTTED BEYOND REPAIR, OVER 6" GAPING HOLES IN THE MAIN FRAME NEAR THE SUSPENSION MOUNTS. THE REAR LEAF SPRINGS ARE BOWED OVER AS WELL! I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF ANY RECALLS BY TOYOTA. I CONTACTED TOYOTA TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT. THEY REFUSED AT 1ST THEN AQCCEPTED IT AT THE WHITBY TOYOTA DEALER. THE RESULTS WERE THAT TOYOTA WAS WILLING TO INSTALL AN UPGRADED SPARE TIRE CARRIER & NOTHING MORE!

THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY TRUCK FOR POTENTIAL FRAME CORROSION. I NEVER RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF THIS ISSUE FROM TOYOTA AND DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT THE PROBLEM UNTIL MY MECHANIC WARNED ME ABOUT FRAME ROT. I BROUGHT MY TRUCK TO A LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER AND THEY CONFIRMED THAT THERE WAS DAMAGE BUT INFORMED ME THAT I HAD MISSED THE OPPORTUNITY DEADLINE FOR THE REPAIR. I HAVE CONTACTED THEIR US CORPORATE OFFICE AND BEEN GIVEN THE SAME REPLY. THEY CLAIM TO HAVE SENT ME THE RECALL NOTICE BUT I MAINTAIN THAT I NEVER RECEIVED ANY NOTIFICATION. I AM WONDERING IF I HAVE ANY RECOURSE IN THIS MATTER.

FOAM IN HEAD RESTRAINTS HAVE DETERIORATED TO THE POINT WHERE THE STEEL BAR IS ONLY COVERED BY THE FABRIC OF THE HEAD RESTRAINT. THIS SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A SAFETY HAZARD. IF A PERSON IN A CAR ACCIDENT WAS TO HAVE THEIR HEAD HIT THE HEAD RESTRAINT, SERIOUS INJURY WOULD OCCUR BECAUSE OF THE EXPOSED STEEL BAR. *TR
TOYOTA HAS BLATANTLY STATED THEY PUT FAULTY FRAMES ON THEIR 2003 TACOMAS AND AS A RESULT OF THIS, THE FRAMES WOULD RUST BECAUSE OF COATING NOT BEING PUT ON PROPERLY. TOYOTA EVEN WON A LAWSUIT FROM THE COMPANY WHO MADE THE FRAMES. NOW, TOYOTA DOES NOT WANT TO MAKE GOOD ON THE RUSTED FRAMES ON THESE TACOMAS. OUR FRAME MAY NOT PASS INSPECTION DUE TO THE RUST AND IF IN THE EVENT, THIS FRAME CAUSES HARM TO MY FAMILY, A LAWSUIT WILL BE FILED BY ME AGAINST TOYOTA. AFTER MANY CONTACTS VIA EMAIL AND PHONE, TOYOTA STATES THAT WE DID NOT CONTACT THEM IN THE TIME FRAME THEY GAVE REGARDING THE FRAME PROBLEM. COMING TO A STOP APPROX 2 MPH THE ENGINE SUDDENLY REVVED VERY LOUDLY AND THE TRUCK SHOW FORWARD. THE BRAKES DID NOT STOP THE TRUCK. WHEN I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO ADDRESS A RECALL RELATED TO THE SPARE TIRE SUPPORT, THEY TOLD ME THE VEHICLE FRAME WAS NOT SAFE AND THEY WOULD NOT WORK ON THE VEHICLE. THERE ARE NUMEROUS PERFORATIONS IN THE FRAME DUE TO EXCESSIVE RUST. I ADDRESSED WITH TOYOTA CORPORATE AND THE FACTORY REPRESENTATIVE VALIDATED THE PROBLEM AND ACKNOWLEDGED THAT IT HAS BEEN A PROBLEM ON THESE VEHICLES BUT THAT TOYOTA AND "THE GOVERNMENT" DID NOT DEEM IT NECESSARY TO PUT A RECALL ON THE PROBLEM. MEANWHILE, THEY WILL NOT ADDRESS THE ISSUE AND INDICATED IT IS THE CUSTOMER.S RESPONSIBILITY FOR REPAIR. I'M FILING THE COMPLIANT TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE FACT THAT THESE OLDER FLY BY WIRE THROTTLE BODIES HAVE A FAULTY TPS THAT IS ONLY REPLACEABLE AS A WHOLE NEW THROTTLE BODY. THE COST ON THEM IS BETWEEN 700 TO 1000 DOLLARS. MY TACOMA DO HAVE A FAULTY TPS ON IT. I'M WAITING TO SAVE UP ENOUGH MONEY TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY HOWEVER, THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS TIMES THAT UPON PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC IT HAS ACTED UP. WHEN THIS HAPPENS YOU GET A VERY BAD HESITATION OR LACK OF ACCELERATION TO THE POINT OF ENDANGERING MYSELF AND OTHER DRIVERS. THE HESITATION HAS LASTED AS LONG AS 3 TO 5 SECONDS BEFORE THE THROTTLE WILL FINALLY RESPOND. THE CONDITION WILL ONLY HAPPEN DURING HOT SUMMER MONTHS.
