I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE NEW IN 2007. RECENTLY UPON MY PERIODIC INSPECTION OF THE FRAME I NOTICED ALL THE FRAME WELDS IN THE UPPER FRAME AREA RUSTED AND THE WELDS APPEARED TO BE BREAKING ON THE FRAME. IF THIS IS IN FACT THE CASE THIS VEHICLE IS NO LONGER ROAD WORTHY. THE FRAME OF ANY VEHICLE SHOULD LAST THE ENTIRE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. THIS VEHICLE HAS 153000 ORIGINAL MILES ON THE ODOMETER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA TACOMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SHIFT INTERLOCK CONTROL UNIT FAILED WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE. THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GEAR SHIFTER CEASED IN PARK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE CONTACT WAS PROVIDED AN ESTIMATE FOR THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 168,287.
THE SHIFTER BROKE AFTER PULLING INTO PARK AND THE INDICATOR LIGHT ON THE GEAR BOX FAILED. REPAIRED SHIFT CABLE 8/6/2020.
I SHUT THE FRONT DRIVERS DOOR AND MY BACK WINDOW BLEW OUT. I DID NOT SLAM THE DOOR I JUST SHUT IT. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE SHADE ON MY PROPERTY. THE REAR WINDOW HAS A SLIDER IN THE MIDDLE, THE PART OF THAT SHATTERED WAS THE REAR WINDOW ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. *TR
I'VE NOTICED MY STEERING BECAME VERY HARD AND STIFF ALL OF A SUDDEN. I'VE CHECKED THE POWER STEERING PUMP AND FLUID, IT ALL CHECKED OUT FINE. I DID A LITTLE RESEARCH AND NOTICED PEOPLE HAVING ISSUES WITH STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT NO 2. (LOWER ONE BY THE WHEELS). I NOTICED THAT PART WAS NOT PROTECTED BY ANYTHING AND IS AND WAS EXPOSED TO THE ELEMENTS LIKE SALT, WATER, DIRT ETC. OVERTIME, THE U-JOINT RUSTS UP AND STARTS TO STICK CAUSING VERY DANGEROUS CONDITIONS FOR THE DRIVER WHERE IT BECOMES VERY HARD TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN TURNING. I'VE ATTACHED A PHOTO OF MY PART IN QUESTION. MY TOYOTA DEALERSHIP WANTS $700.00 FOR PARTS AND LABOR. THAT IS OUTRAGEOUS. *TR
I OWN A 2007 TACOMA. IT WAS INSPECTED LAST YEAR WHILE FRAME RECALL WAS IN EFFECT. THEY SAID IT WAS FINE. NOW ONLY 1 YEAR LATER THERE ARE 2 BASEBALL SIZED HOLES IT FRONT OF THE FRAME AND A CRACK HALFWAY DOWN THE FRAME. I'VE CALLED TOYOTA SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY REFUSE TO ADDRESS IT. HOW IS IT POSSIBLE THAT ANY COMPANY CAN GET AWAY WITH. THEY'VE KNOWN FOR 20 YEARS THEY HAVE A FRAME PROBLEM. THEY SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO BE SOLD HERE ANY MORE UNTIL THEY CAN FIGURE IT OUT. I HAVE A 2007 TOYOTA TACOMA WHICH I BOUGHT IN JANUARY OF 2020. I NOTICED THAT THE RIGHT FRONT SIDE OF THE CHASSIS NEAR THE TRANSMISSION CROSSMEMBER HAD REALLY BAD CORROSION HAPPENING. THE RUST HAS EATEN UP A LARGE PART OF THE CHASSIS BEAM IN 3 DIFFERENT SPOTS SEVERELY AND BY THE LOOKS OF IT CAN SPLIT IN HALF IN NO TIME.THE TRUCK WAS ORIGINALLY FROM THE NEW YORK AND PENNSYLVANIA AREA. NOT TIL MONTHS AFTER I HAD PURCHASED THE TRUCK I WAS INFORMED THAT TOYOTA HAD A MASSIVE RECALL FOR RUSTED OUT FRAMES TO BE REPLACEMENT. I GONE 2 DIFFERENT TOYOTA DEALERSHIPS AND THEY AREN'T WILLING TO INSPECT MY CHASSIS OR HELP ME OUT WITH ANYTHING.
DRIVE SHAFT U JOINT FAILED WHILE OPERATING AT HIGH SPEED. DRIVE SHAFT SNAPPED OFF AT HIGH SPEED AND CRACKED FUEL TANK AND EXHAUST. TRUCK HAS HAD FRAME RECALLED AND LEAF SPRINGS RECALLED. TRUCK HAS BEEN IN SHOP ALREADY 4 TIMES REGARDING FRAME RECALL.
As part of the Tacoma Frame Replacement program (ZH6 and H0F), I brought my Tacoma to my Toyota dealer. They deemed my frame to NOT qualify for the replacement and lazily applied corrosion resistant spray to the rust on the frame that quickly flaked off. As soon as the program ended, the frame deteriorated quickly. There are 3 spots on the frame where my hand can slide through near the front of the frame on both the driver side and the passenger side. I have removed about 5 pounds of frame/rust from the interior of the frame and the exterior of the frame. I have contacted Toyota several times and been told that there are no appeals or anything I can do except pay for a new frame out of pocket, sell, or try to repair.
I HAVE TWO CONCERNS: FIRST IS THE CLEAR-COAT AND PAINT ON THE VEHICLE RUBBING OFF CAUSING THE ROOF AND OTHER BODY PANELS TO RUST, WHICH IN TURN CAUSES THE STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY OF THE VEHICLE TO BE COMPROMISED IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT/ROLLOVER. SECOND IS THAT THE FRONT HEADLAMPS FILL UP WITH WATER/MOISTURE DURING COLD WEATHER/RAIN/ AND CAR WASHES. THIS COULD LEAD TO THE HEADLAMPS SHORTING OUT CAUSING AN ACCIDENT AND POSSIBLE INJURIES/DEATHS. TOYOTA SO FAR HAS OFFERED NO SOLUTION TO EITHER CONCERN AND MY EXTENDED WARRANTY COMPANY CLAIMS THEY WON'T COVER SEALED BEAM HEADLAMPS. IF THEY ARE AS THEY CLAIM SEALED BEAM HEADLAMPS HOW IS THE WATER INTRUSION HAPPENING? BOTH OF THESE CONCERNS ARE SAFETY RELATED AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED AS SUCH. I AM THE SECOND OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE AND IT ONLY HAS LESS THAN 62,000 MILES.
FUEL TANK STRAP RUSTED AND BROKE. NO WARNING. I WAS HEARING A NOISE WHEN I TOOK TAKE OFF AND DRIVING. COULDN'T FIGURED OUT WHAT THAT WAS UNTIL I LOOKED BACK AND FOUND THE GAS TABS STRAP WAS TANGLING AND HIT THE PROP SHAFT. THEN NOTICE THE TANK WAS HANGING 1/2'LOWER THAN THE FRONT. I CALLED THE TOYOTA AND THE DEALERSHIP AND BOTH SAID NOTHING THEY CAN DO. NO RECALL EVEN THOUGH I TOLD BOTH THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THIS VEHICLE HAS NOT HAD THE FRAME REPLACED AND I TRIED TO GET THAT DONE BUT THEY SAID IT EXPIRED. I'VE ONLY OWN THE VERGIL'S FOR 3MTHS. SINCE THE FRAME DID NOT GET REPLACE THAT MEANS THAT THE FUEL, BRAKE,SPRING, TANK, STRAPS DID NOT GET REPLACE WHICH IS HIDDEN RECALLED. THE DEALER SHIP THAT MY FRAME NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BUT TOYOTA WOULD NOT DO FIX IT. SO OWNING THIS VEHICLE FOR 3 MTHS AND IF I HAD KNOWN THIS BEFORE I WOULD NOT HAVE BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE. SO NOW I MAYBE OWNING A LEMON DUE TO THIS WITH NO HELP. THE DEALER SHIP I BOUGHT THIS TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL AND THERE WAS, WHEN THE HAD THE VEHICLE ON THERE LOT. WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO?
I WAS STOPPED AT A DRIVE THROUGH, FINISHED MY TRANSACTION VEHICLE WAS IN PARK. I PLACED MY RIGHT FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND MOVED THE SHIFT LEVER TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY ACCELERATED AT FULL THROTTLE. I WAS ABLE TO STOP WITHIN 2 CAR LENGTHS AND NO COLLISION WAS INCURRED.
VEHICLE IN MOTION WHEN THE STEERING COLUMN CAME OFF AND ALL STEERING OF THE VEHICLE WAS DISCONNECTED AND IMPOSSIBLE. ADJUSTABLE STEERING COLUMN SYSTEM APPEARS TO HAVE FAILED AND FELL TO LOWEST POSITION UNEXPECTEDLY. PULLING UP AND OUT ON THE WHEEL TO RETURN TO MY NORMAL POSITION GAVE NO RESISTANCE AND STEERING WHEEL, BLINKER/WIPER CONTROL HOUSING, IGNITION HOUSING, AND ADJUSTABLE COLUMN CONTROLS CAME OFF THE MECHANICAL CONNECTOR FOR THE REMAINING STEERING COLUMN, BREAKING THE IGNITION SWITCH AND DISALLOWING FURTHER OPERATION. VEHICLE ROLLED TO AN UNCONTROLLED STOP AND WAS ABLE TO BE PUSHED TO A SAFE PLACE AND PLACED IN PARK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA TACOMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE UNDERCARRIAGE OF THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY RUSTED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO RILEY TOYOTA (2105 CHRISTY DR, JEFFERSON CITY, MO 65101, 573-893-3100) FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND THE MECHANIC NOTICED THAT THE BOTTOM FRAME WAS CORRODED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT DUE TO THE VEHICLE BEING MANUFACTURED IN CANADA, A SPECIAL COATING WAS NOT APPLIED TO THE FRAME AND CAUSED THE CORROSION. THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 204,900.
I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2007 TOYOTA TACOMA THAT WAS INVOLVED IN THE FRAME RUST RECALL. MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE CURRENTLY RUST PERFORATIONS IN THE FRAME (MANY FRAMES WERE REPLACED BY TOYOTA AT NO COST DURING THE ORIGINAL RECALL) THAT BECAUSE TOYOTA INSPECTED THE FRAME (WITH A PREVIOUS OWNER IN 2016) AND DID NOT FIND ANY ISSUES LARGE ENOUGH AT THAT TIME TO CAUSE THE ENTIRE FRAME TO BE REPLACED, THAT THEIR "CRC" UNDERCOATING THEY APPLIED WAS ALL THAT WAS NECESSARY. LESS THAN 3 YEARS LATER (MAYBE SOONER, BUT I JUST GOT THE VEHICLE) THE FRAME HAS HOLES IN IT AND TOYOTA IS NOT GOING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT BUT OFFER A FULL OUT OF POCKET $10,000-$15,000 FRAME REPLACEMENT. THERE MUST BE THOUSANDS OF THESE VEHICLES FROM THE ORIGINAL RECALL THAT WERE ONLY SPRAYED AND NOT REPLACED THAT ARE NOW UNSAFE TO DRIVE WITH ABSOLUTELY NO RECOURSE FOR NEW (AKA UNAWARE) OWNERS BECAUSE NO WARRANTY OF THE SPRAY WHATSOEVER EXISTS. UNDERCOATING IN NO WAY PREVENTS RUST FROM CONTINUING TO ROT AWAY AND MAKE HOLES IN FRAMES - ALL TOYOTAS THAT WERE ONLY SPRAYED BUT DID NOT HAVE ENTIRE FRAME REPLACEMENT SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO GET NEW INSPECTIONS BY TOYOTA AND REVISIT THE NEED FOR FRAME REPLACEMENTS.
2007 TOYOTA TACOMA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO LIFT SPRING SAFETY RECALL. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEALER SOLD THE VEHICLE WITH A RECALL THAT WAS EXPIRED AND HAD NOT BEEN SERVICED. THE VEHICLE DID EXPERIENCE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. *JS
THIS TRUCK HAS 12 YEARS AND 62,000 MILES ON IT. I WAS MAKING A U-TURN LAST WEEK, AND WHEN I FINISHED THE TURN I HEARD THE NOISE OF SOMETHING BREAKING. THEN A CLANKING NOISE OF METAL ON METAL STARTED TO SOUND FROM UNDER THE STEERING COLUMN WHILE TURNING THE WHEEL AND RUNNING OVER BUMPS. I ALSO NOTICED EXCESSIVE PLAY ON THE TURN OF THE STEERING WHEEL AND VIBRATION WHEN DRIVING ABOVE 50MPH. I AM A LICENSED AUTO TECH AND BETWEEN THE NOISE AND THE PLAY DETERMINED THAT THE TRUCK WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. I PROCEEDED TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND FOUND OUT THAT THE MID STEERING SHAFT WAS WORN OUT. THE PART CONNECTS THE LOWER SECTION OF THE STEERING COLUMN THRU THE FIREWALL IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT TO REACH THE RACK AND PINION ASSEMBLY. THE FAILED PART IS COMPOSED OF TWO SMALL SHAFTS JOINED TOGETHER BY A RUBBER DISK THAT ACTS AS A DAMPER. THE SHAFTS HAVE A SMALL METAL BASE AND IN THE SECTION OF THE STEERING COLUMN IT HAS A SMALL U-JOINT. THE SMALL BASES CONNECT IN TWO PLACES AT RIGHT ANGLES TO THE RUBBER DISK BUT THE LOWER SMALL SHAFT GOES THRU THE CENTER OF THE RUBBER DISK AND THRU THE CENTER OF BASE OF THE SMALL U JOINT. AT THAT POINT THERE IS A PLASTIC BUSHING THAT FILLS THE GAP BETWEEN THE TWO METALS. THAT BUSHING BROKE AND IS THE CAUSE OF THE PLAY AND NOISE ALONG A DETERIORATED RUBBER DISK (SEE PHOTOS). THIS PART HAS DETERIORATED OVER TIME AND THE RUBBER AND PLASTIC HAVE DEGRADED. I REPLACED THE PART BUT IT HAS THE SAME DESIGN AND WILL FAIL AGAIN IN THE FUTURE. MANY PEOPLE FIX THE PROBLEM BY FILLING THE GAP WITH ZIP TIES AS I FOUND OUT SEARCHING THE WEB. MY MAIN CONCERN IS THAT TWO PIECES OF THE PART ARE HOLD TOGETHER BY A RUBBER DISK THAT DETERIORATES OVER TIME AND IF IT BREAKS, THE DRIVER CAN LOOSE DIRECTIONAL CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. ALSO DUE TO THE HIGH COST OF REPAIR, MANY PEOPLE MAKE MODS TO MAKE THE PART WORK CREATING MORE HAZARDS.
WE TOOK OUR TOYOTA TACOMA 07 WITH 62,402 MILEAGE FOR STATE INSPECTION ON 7/24/2019. SIGNIFICANT RUST PERFORATION WAS FOUND ON THE FRAME CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO FAIL INSPECTION, AND THE MECHANIC ADVISED THAT IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. WE LEARNED ABOUT TOYOTA'S WARRANTY EXTENSION PROGRAM FOR RUST PERFORATION FROM THEIR CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENT FOR 2005'2010 TACOMA VEHICLES, BUT OUR 07 TACOMA'S EXTENSION EXPIRED ON 5/26/2019. WE CALLED TOYOTA CUSTOMER SATISFACTION AND WERE TOLD THAT TOYOTA WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING TO HELP IN OUR SITUATION, EVEN THOUGH THE PROBLEM EXISTED PRIOR TO THE EXPIRATION OF THEIR ASSISTANCE PROGRAM AND WE ONLY LEARNED OF THE PROBLEM AND THE PROGRAM AT THIS POINT BECAUSE OF THE TIMING OF OUR STATE INSPECTION.
TOYOTA NEVER NOTIFIED ME OF ANY FRAME RUST ISSUES, NOR WAS I EVER CONTACTED REGARDING A CLASS ACTION SUIT WHICH DOES INVOLVE FRAME RUST ON MY VEHICLE. I HAD TO PERFORM EXTENSIVE RESEARCH TO INFORM MYSELF OF THE ISSUE. WHEN I VISITED A DEALERSHIP FOR LEAF SPRING REPLACEMENT, I WAS TOLD THAT FRAME RUST WAS TOO EXTENSIVE TO PERFORM THE REPAIR, HOWEVER THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT MAKE ME AWARE OF THE RESULTS OF A CLASS ACTION SUIT REGARDING FRAME REPLACEMENT AND THAT THE FRAME WOULD NEED TO BE REPAIRED AT MY OWN EXPENSE, AT WHICH TIME I COULD NOT AFFORD. A QUALIFIED SHOP INDICATES THAT MY FRAME IS TOO RUSTED TO REPAIR. MY VEHICLE IS NOW UNSAFE TO DRIVE. TOYOTA CORPORATE REFUSES TO RECOGNIZE THAT I DID NOT RECEIVE ANY NOTIFICATION OF FRAME ISSUES AND ONLY REFERS TO AN UNRELATED EXTENDED WARRANTY, WHICH I HAD PURCHASED AT THE TIME I PURCHASED MY 2007 TACOMA. TOYOTA CORPORATE ONLY INFORMED ME THAT THE REPAIR OFFER WHICH I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED ABOUT IS EXPIRED. ANY FURTHER ASSISTANCE FROM TOYOTA CORPORATE IS DENIED. MY VEHICLE IS NOW UNSAFE TO DRIVE. IN CLOSING, I NEGOTIATED THE PURCHASE OF THIS VEHICLE NEW IN JULY OF 2008. IT WAS A COMPANY VEHICLE AT THE TIME. IN 2009 I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM THE COMPANY AND HAVE BEEN THE REGISTERED OWNER FOR THE PAST 12 YEARS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA TACOMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ROOF OF THE VEHICLE WAS COLLECTING RUST. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RUST HAD PARTIALLY EATEN THROUGH THE ROOF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CHATTAM TOYOTA (7 PARK OF COMMERCE WAY, SAVANNAH, GA 31405, (912) 386-4040) WHERE THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT REPAIR, WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE ROOF, THE PAINT ON THE HOOD AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000. *BF*JB
THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT U JOINT RUSTS AND CAUSES THE STEERING TO STIFFEN UNEXPECTEDLY. I KNOW THERE ARE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS PUT OUT BY TOYOTA, IT IS DISAPPOINTING THAT AUTOMOBILE COMPANY'S ARE NOT HELD ACCOUNTABLE BY THE NHTSA, SINCE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE.
THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND WAS NOT IN A WRECK. I RECENTLY HAD MY TRUCK WORKED ON AND THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THE FRAME HAD ABOUT A TWO FOOT SPOT THAT WAS RUSTED THROUGH THE FRAME. AFTER LEARNING THIS, I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND OUT THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT THAT WAS SETTLED WITH TOYOTA FOR THE 2005-2010 YEAR MODEL TACOMA BECAUSE OF FRAME CORROSION. I CONTACTED TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE TO EXPLAIN TO THEM THAT I NEVER GOT A RECALL NOTIFICATION IN THE MAIL. THEY BASICALLY TOLD ME THEY WOULD NO LONGER REPLACE THE FRAMES FREE OF CHARGE BECAUSE I WAS TWO MONTHS PAST THE DEADLINE. I WILL MOST LIKELY BE FILING A LAWSUIT AGAINST THEM IF THEY CONTINUE TO REFUSE TO REPLACE MY FRAME. THE VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND HAD I KNOWN ABOUT THIS, I WOULD HAVE TAKEN CARE OF IT SOONER. THEY CLAIM THEY SENT A RECALL NOTIFICATION, HOWEVER I NEVER RECEIVED IT. I DON'T THINK IT'S RIGHT THAT TOYOTA IS REFUSING TO FIX A PROBLEM THEY KNEW ABOUT AND WAS RECALLED ON THE VEHICLE THEY BUILT. MY FAMILY HAS RIDDEN IN THE VEHICLE AND HAVE BEEN PUT AT RISK OR SERIOUS BODILY INJURY BECAUSE THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE. NOW I BASICALLY HAVE A WORTHLESS UNSAFE TRUCK THAT WILL COST TOO MUCH TO REPAIR. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA TACOMA. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V604000 (SUSPENSION). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TOYOTA OF YORK (1885 WHITEFORD RD, YORK, PA 17402) TO HAVE THE LEAF SPRING REPLACED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FRAME WAS RUSTED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY FOR THE FRAME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
STEERING IS VERY HARD TO STEER DEALER WANTS 600.00 TO FIX A STEERING SHAFT I DON'T THINK ITS RIGHT SHOULD BE A RE CALL ON THIS TRUCK BEFORE SOME ONE GETS KILLED.
I purchased NEW a Toyota 2007 Tacoma, After year of ownership I found heavy surface rust around the chassis and hardware components. I went to dealership and they stated that it was surface rust and were not able to rustproof . After 10 years I was assigned to SMA in FT Bliss TX were I was for 12 months on Active duty orders . Once I return and picked up truck from storage I found chassis completely rusted with several areas that were in critical need of repair. I contacted Toyota and was informed I missed the cut off date for recall repair . I will be repairing on my own but its a injustice that there is a such monetary preference than safety of the consumer who purchase vehicle out right for the reliability .
I OWN A 2007 TOYOTA TACOMA. IT'S FRAME HAS BEEN INSPECTED BY MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER (HERTRICH) THREE SEPARATE TIMES FOR RUST TO THE FRAME. IT RECEIVED A RUST INHIBITOR COATING ON 1/16/15. IT WAS INSPECTED AGAIN ON 12/21/17 AND 1/3/19. DURING THE 1/3/19 INSPECTION, THE DEALER CONDUCTED A MULTI-POINT INSPECTION. MY TRUCK'S STEERING COMPONENTS AND STEERING LINKAGE WERE INSPECTED. IT RECEIVED A GREEN CHECK BY THE DEALER, THE HIGHEST RATING. ON 2/7/19, JUST ONE MONTH AFTER THE INSPECTION, MY POWER STEERING FAILED WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT SAFELY TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC. MY TRUCK'S RACK AND PINION STEERING SYSTEM HAD HEAVY CORROSION, AND MOST OF THE POWER STEERING FLUID HAD LEAKED. MY MECHANIC REPLACED THE RACK AND PINION STEERING SYSTEM. IT WAS HEAVILY CORRODED. MY MECHANIC SAID HE HAD NEVER SEEN ONE THIS CORRODED. PLEASE SEE ATTACHED PHOTOGRAPHS OF MY CORRODED POWER STEERING RACK. TOYOTA HAS REFUSED TO APPLY A SECOND COAT OF THE RUST INHIBITOR TO MY TRUCK'S FRAME, EVEN THOUGH I HAVE NEW RUST COMING THROUGH THE PREVIOUS TREATMENT. NOW, RUST AND CORROSION TO MY POWER STEERING RACK, EXACTLY WHERE IT ATTACHES TO THE TRUCK FRAME, HAD MASSIVE CORROSION, CAUSING A TOTAL FAILURE OF THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM. I HAVE CHECKED TOYOTA FORUMS, AND THIS PROBLEM IS COMMON WITH OTHER TOYOTA TACOMA OWNERS. PLEASE FORCE TOYOTA TO PROPERLY ADDRESS THE CORROSION ISSUES WITH IT'S TACOMA TRUCKS. THE RUST INHIBITOR THAT WAS APPLIED TO MY TRUCK'S FRAME IN JANUARY OF 2015 HAS FAILED. THE TRUCK'S FRAME, AND COMPONENTS ATTACHED TO THE FRAME, CONTINUE TO RUST AND CORRODE, CAUSING DANGER TO ME, MY FAMILY, AND OTHER MOTORISTS. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION IN THIS MATTER.
I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THE STEERING BEING INCREDIBLY TOO STIFF. THERE IS NO RETURN ONCE THE STEERING WHEEL HAS REACHED PAST 3 O'CLOCK OR 9 O'CLOCK ON THE WHEEL. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THIS HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED AS THE STEERING IS INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT TO TURN AND CAN CAUSE SERIOUS PROBLEMS WITH BEING ABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. IF THE PART IS FAULTY THAT WAS INSTALLED, WHY HAS THIS NOT BEEN BROUGHT UP AS A WARRANTY RECALL. THIS IS INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATING THAT THIS COULD BE A SERIOUSLY DETRIMENTAL ISSUE THAT HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED.

DRIVE SHAFT VIBRATION 10MPH ON TO 70+
STEERING BECAME PROGRESSIVELY HARDER TO TURN OVER A PERIOD OF MANY WEEKS. IT WAS OK WITH HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND STRAIGHTAWAYS WITH LITTLE STEERING CORRECTION. IT WAS VERY HARD WHEN ALL TYPES OF NORMAL TURNS WERE EXECUTED AT ANY SPEED AND AFTER WARM UP. IT TURNED OUT TOYOTA, BY COMMENT OF THE REPAIRING MECHANIC, WHO HAD DONE MANY, HAS HAD AN ISSUE WITH CORROSION OF THE STEERING COLUMN LINKAGE. I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED ANY INFO REGARDING THIS. I THOUGHT IT WAS POWER STEERING AND THAT I COULD MUSCLE THROUGH IT FOR A WHILE. IT BECAME WORSE FAST. BASED ON A FALSE ASSUMPTION WHICH MANY MIGHT MAKE, THIS COULD HAVE EASILY LOCKED UP AND CAUSED A CRASH. TOYOTA DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT HONOR RECALL DUE TO AFTER MARKET LIFT KIT WAS INSTALLED.
MY SRS LIGHT CAME ON. IT IS THE SPIRAL CABLE THAT IS INSTALLED IN MY STEERING WHEEL. WAS RECALLED IN FEB 9TH, 2012. NHTSA ID NUMBER: 10447308. MY AIR BAGS DO NOT WORK WHILE SRS LIGHT WARNING IS ON. LIGHT TURNED ON WHILE VEHICLE IS MOVING
"TAKATA RECALL". I WAS IN MOTION TRAVEL HOME ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN I RAN OFF THE ROAD AND HIT A TREE HEAD ON. THE AIRBAG PART CUT THE LEFT SIDE OF MY CHIN. THE ER DOCTOR SAID THE HOLE WAS THE SIZE OF TWO FIFTY CENT PIECES BUT TOGETHER. AND HE COULD SEE THE JAW MUSCLES. THE VEHICLE IS TOTAL. I HAVE A POLICE ACCIDENT REPORT, INSURANCE CLAIM, MEDICAL EXPENSE AND PICTURE OF THE CUT AND THE TRUCK. I WILL NEED HELP WITH THESE PHOTO AND DOCUMENTATION TO UPLOAD ON THE FORMAT.
I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING BECOMING STIFF AT TIMES WHEN TURNING THE WHEELS EITHER RIGHT OR LEFT. I TOOK IT IN AND I WAS TOLD THAT THEY LUBRICATED THE UNIVERSAL JOINT; HOWEVER, THAT DID NOT RECTIFY THE PROBLEM. I'VE HAD THE POWER STEERING PUMP REPLACED; BUT, THIS PROBLEM ISN'T THE SAME AS WHAT WAS HAPPENING THE THE PUMP NEEDED REPLACEMENT.
I EXPERIENCED A BAD SMELL IN THE CABIN, PARTICULARLY WHEN FIRST SWITCHING ON THE IGNITION, WHICH CAUSES THE CABIN AIR FAN TO START RUNNING. I CHECKED THE CABIN AIR FILTER. THERE WERE RAT FECES IN THE PLEATS OF THE FILTER, A SMELL OF RAT URINE, AND THERE WAS FOAM MATERIAL FROM THE INSIDE OF THE CAR. PRESUMABLY THE RATS HAD BEEN CHEWING IT TO MAKE A NEST. THEY HAD ALSO BEEN CHEWING ON THE FILTER MATERIAL. THE LOCAL TOYOTA REPRESENTATIVE SAID TOYOTA USA WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING TO HELP ME. I REMOVED THE COWL AT THE BASE OF THE WINDSHIELD. THE CABIN AIR INTAKE IS OPEN TO THE SPACE UNDER THE COWL. I FOUND THAT THAT THE TOP OF THE COWL IS DRAINED BY HOLES WHERE THE WINDSHIELD WIPER DRIVE SHAFTS GO THROUGH THE COWL. THE WATER COLLECTS IN THE SPACE UNDER THE COWL, WHICH IN TURN IS DRAINED THROUGH LARGE DRAIN HOLES AT BOTH ENDS, DOWN INTO THE FENDERS ABOVE THE WHEEL WELLS, AND TO THE GROUND. I THINK THE RATS WERE GETTING UNDER THE COWL AND INTO THE CABIN AIR INTAKE THROUGH ONE OR MORE OF THESE HOLES. I CLEANED THE BLOWER FAN ASSEMBLY, THE CABIN AIR INTAKE, AND THE INSIDE OF THE COWL, AND REPLACED THE CABIN AIR FILTER. I MADE SCREENS FROM INCH MESH TO KEEP THE RATS OUT OF THE SPACE UNDER THE COWL. I INSTALLED THEM ON BOTH SIDES. I ALSO MADE AND INSTALLED A SCREEN OVER THE CABIN AIR INTAKE TO KEEP RATS OUT IF THEY SOMEHOW GET AROUND THE SIDE SCREENS. I HAVE HAD NO MORE PROBLEMS SO FAR. SINCE RATS CARRY DISEASE, I CONSIDER THIS A SERIOUS HEALTH ISSUE FOR ALL THE OTHER OWNERS OF THESE VEHICLES. I AM FORWARDING THIS INFORMATION IN THE HOPE THAT YOU CAN PRESSURE TOYOTA USA TO DO THE RIGHT THING AND CORRECT THIS ISSUE FOR ALL OWNERS.

THE U JOINTS ON MY 2007 TOYOTA TACOMA DETERIORATED TO THE POINT IN WHICH I WAS FORCED TO REPLACE THEM, MULTIPLE TIMES. THIS ISSUE WITH THE U-JOINTS HAS NOW LED TO AN INCREASE DETERIORATION IN MY DRIVE SHAFT AS WELL. RECENTLY, I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM THE MANUFACTURER STATING THERE WAS A RECENT RECALL ON THE ABOVE DESCRIBED U-JOINTS. UPON TAKING MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY TOLD ME SEVERAL DIFFERENT STORIES. IN THE BEGINNING, MY DRIVE SHAFT WAS SUPPOSEDLY JUST FINE AND IN NEED OF NO REPAIRS; THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY WOULD STILL REPLACE THE U-JOINTS IN QUESTION. LATER ON THEY CHANGED THEIR STORY TO THE DRIVE SHAFT NEEDING TO BE REPLACED COMPLETELY DUE TO WEAR ON THE ITEM FROM THE FAULTY U JOINTS. AFTER EXPLAINING BACKGROUND INFORMATION THEY TOLD ME I WAS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THE DRIVE SHAFT TO BE REPLACED FOR FREE; BLAMING THE DAMAGE ON A PREVIOUS MECHANIC WHO HAS BEEN IN BUSINESS FOR HIMSELF FOR OVER 35 YEARS. NOW, AS I AM WRITING THIS COMPLAINT, MY VEHICLE SITS AT THE DEALERSHIP, WITH ME UNABLE TO UTILIZE IT DUE TO THE FACT THAT THEY NOW SAY THEY WILL NOT PUT THE DRIVE SHAFT BACK ON AND I WILL HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET TO GET IT TOWED. THEY ARE TELLING ME THAT I AM NOT ELIGIBLE FOR RECALL STATUS, THEY WILL NOT PUT MY DRIVE SHAFT BACK INTO MY VEHICLE, AND THEY ARE COSTING ME AND MY FAMILY A LOT OF MONEY DUE TO THE FACT THAT MY VEHICLE IS MY LIVELYHOOD.
LAST WEEK I NOTICED TIGHTNESS IN THE STEERING OF MY 07 TOYOTA TACOMA INTERMITTENTLY. IT PROGRESSIVELY WORSENED AND AT TIMES WOULD BE VERY "JERKY". YESTERDAY IT WAS TIGHT NEARLY MY ENTIRE WAY TO WORK. I CALLED AND MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE IT CHECKED. ON MY WAY TO THE REPAIR SHOP, AS I WAS TURNING OUT OF A PARKING LOT, THE TRUCK STARTED TO TURN FINE BUT ALL OF A SUDDEN GOT VERY STIFF AND JERKED. I WASN'T EXPECTING IT AND ALMOST HIT A MAILBOX . THE QUOTE FOR MY REPAIR, WHICH INCLUDES A LOWER STEERING SHAFT, COUPLER, BOLTS AND REQUIRED ALIGNMENT, IS $820.00. AS I WAS LOOKING ONLINE TO MAKE SURE THAT THIS WAS A LEGITIMATE PRICING QUOTE, I NOTICED THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THE TOYOTA TACOMA BETWEEN THE YEARS OF 005-2014. THIS IS A DEFINITE SAFETY ISSUE AND NEEDS TO HAVE A RECALL ISSUED.
LOWER STEERING SHAFT 4520304021 SEIZED. REPAIR COST IS SIGNIFICANT $400 PLUS. I DON'T BELIEVE THIS ITEM IS A NORMAL MAINTENANCE ITEM LIKE BRAKES OR BELTS. NOT TO MENTION IF IT SEIZES WHILE DRIVING COULD CAUSE A MAJOR ACCIDENT OR FATALITY. MINE HAS NOT SEIZED BUT IS CAUSING MUCH HARDER THAN NORMAL STEERING EFFORT. THERE IS NO WARNING PRIOR TO IT SEIZING. PLEASE ADVISE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA TACOMA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON AND OFF FOR APPROXIMATELY TWO WEEKS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LA ROCHE TOYOTA IN FINDLAY OHIO WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE EXTERNAL AIR BAG SENSOR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE BUMPER WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,000.
STEERING HAD INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS. ONE DAY IT WAS FINE AND THE NEXT FELT LIKE THERE WAS NO POWER STEERING. AFTER TURNING A CORNER, THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT RETURN TO THE CENTER POSITION WITHOUT CONSIDERABLE FORCE AND ONLY AFTER HITTING THE CURB. IT TURNED OUT THAT THE LOWER INTERMEDIATE SHAFT OF THE STEERING ASSEMBLY HAD A U-JOINT THAT SEIZED AND WAS CLOSE TO BREAKING OFF BEFORE I COULD GET IT REPLACED.
STEERING IS TIGHT WHILE TURNING THEN GOOD THEN TIGHT IT'S GETTING WORSE, I REPLACED POWER STEERING UNIT WASNT THAT, AND FRONT BEARINGS. IN MOTION AND WHEN TURNING
THERE ARE 3 RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE IN WHICH I'VE BEEN NOTIFIED ABOUT. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND TRIED TO SET UP A DATE IN WHICH I CAN LEAVE MY VEHICLE. THE RECALL NOTIFICATION FROM TOYOTA STATED THAT I WOULD BE PROVIDED A LOANER VEHICLE WHILE THE WORK IS BEING PERFORMED, SINCE THE RUST TREATMENT WAS GOING TO TAKE 4 DAYS TO DRY. NOW SINCE I'VE REQUESTED A LOANER VEHICLE THE DEALERSHIP CONTINUES TO AVOID MY CALLS OR LET ME SPEAK WITH THE HEAD REPAIR TECHNICIAN. THE PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE HAS HAD RECALLS FOR SAFETY HAZARDS AND POTENTIAL DEATH WHILE DRIVING.
LEAF SPRINGS ARE UNDER A RECALL.
I was totally aware of the recall for these year models of Tacoma and I brought the truck in several times to have the frame inspected and asked for it to be replaced. The folks at Dorschel Automotive group turned me away saying it did not meet the "rust perforation standard." Lo and behold, when Dorschel was bought by Bob Johnson Auto Group, the first time I took it in they recognized that the frame was entirely rotted and would not pass inspection. At this point, I called Toyota Customer Service and they said they would not honor the recall as it is outside the window of time. Yet this is not a matter of me not taking proper action. I did. I did my due diligence and I am being harmed by the negligence of the service managers at Dorschel. I made Toyota aware that the frame inspection was not done properly. I could see visible rust and I made mention of that. Now I am in a really tough spot. The truck only has around 130K miles on it and planty of useful life but for this faulty frame. Consumer stated attempted to access the benefits under the warranty recall.
