THE DEALER DID NOT PROVIDE A SPECIFIC DATE AS TO WHEN THE PARTS WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND COULD NOT PROVIDE AN ESTIMATED DATE FOR WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD RECEIVE THE RECALL REPAIRS. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
PROBLEM: BROKEN REAR LEAF SPRINGS ON BOTH SIDES OF VEHICLE. THEY BROKE 6 MONTHS APART. THERE HAS BEEN A LONG DELAY BY IN TAKING CARE OF THE RECALL FOR SPRING REPLACEMENT. I RECEIVED THE MESSAGE BELOW 10/2/14. IS THERE SOMETHING THAT CAN BE DONE TO GET TOYOTA TO ACT? NOT ONLY DO THEY NEED TO REPLACE THE SPRING ASSEMBLIES BUT THEY NEED TO REIMBURSE ME FOR MY PREVIOUS REPAIR OF BROKEN SPRINGS. I GET NO INFORMATION FROM TOYOTA OR THE DEALER ON ANY SCHEDULE. _______________ YOUR 2008 TACOMA WITH VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER (VIN) [XXX] IS INVOLVED IN SPECIAL SERVICE CAMPAIGN (RECALL) E12, WHICH ADDRESSES THE VEHICLE'S LEAF SPRINGS. TOYOTA ANNOUNCED THIS CAMPAIGN EARLIER IN THE WEEK, AND WE WILL BE ISSUING PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATIONS TO OWNERS OF AFFECTED VEHICLES IN THE NEAR FUTURE. MARCH OF 2014 MY RIGHT REAR LEAF SPRING CRACKED. I CONTACTED THE TOYOTA DEALER AND TOYOTA CORPORATE REGARDING THIS. THEY BOTH DENIED ANY GENERIC PROBLEM WITH THE SPRINGS AND TOYOTA REFUSED ANY REPLACEMENT. IN AUGUST OF 2014 THE LEFT LEAF BROKE. IN BOTH CASES I CHOSE TO HAVE MY LOCAL MECHANIC REPLACE THE BROKEN LEAF. I BELIEVE THAT I SHOULD BE REIMBURSED FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE LEAVES AND THE SPRING ASSEMBLY SHOULD BE REPLACED PER THE ANNOUNCED RECALL (SEPT 29, 2014). I DETECTED THE BREAK BECAUSE OF UNUSUAL SUSPENSION NOISE. NO LOADS WERE CARRIED DURING THIS PERIOD. *TR
I OWN A 2008 TOYOTA TACOMA ACCESS CAB OFF-ROD 4X4. A LEAF IN THE PASSENGER SIDE LEAF SPRING BROKE WHILE DRIVING. I WAS DRIVING ALONG AND I STARTED TO HEAR A CLANKING METAL ON METAL NOISE THAT I HAD NOT HEARD BEFORE. I WAS CLOSE TO HOME SO I DROVE THERE AND WHEN I LOOKED UNDERNEATH THE SECOND LEAF FROM THE TOP WAS BROKEN IN TWO RIGHT BEHIND THE U-BOLT HOLDING THE REAR AXLE TO THE LEAF PACK. I HAD IT REPAIRED BY A LOCAL SHOP WHO REPLACED THE BROKEN LEAF AND ADDED ANOTHER FULL LEAF TO BOTH LEAF PACKS(PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE) ON THE TRUCK. BEFORE IT BROKE, THE SPRINGS ON BOTH SIDES WERE ALREADY FLAT WHEN UNLOADED AND IF I PUT ANY AMOUNT OF WEIGHT IN THE BACK I WAS HITTING THE BUMP STOPS VERY EASILY. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE ENGINE ERRONEOUSLY BEGAN TO RACE AS THE RPMS INCREASED WITHOUT THE CONTACT DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT FLAMES WERE ALSO SEEN COMING FROM UNDER THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT OPENED THE HOOD AND DISCOVERED THAT THE ENGINE WAS ON FIRE. THE CONTACT USED SNOW TO EXTINGUISH THE FLAMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE INCIDENT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR LEAF SPRING FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V604000 (SUSPENSION). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA TACOMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT UPON INSPECTION, THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR SPRING WAS FOUND TO BE FRACTURED IN TWO. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO STATED THAT THAT THE SPRING WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FAILURE WOULD OCCUR WHEN CARRYING A LIGHT LOAD. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000.
WITHOUT ANY WARNING OR OTHER INDICATION, AS I WAS DRIVING, THE RED SEAT BELT LIGHT CAME ON AND WOULD NOT GO OFF EVEN AFTER ALL PASSENGERS WERE WEARING SEAT BELTS. I TOOK IT TO A SHOP WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO PULL UP A CODE FOR THE LIGHT AND STATED THEY COULD NOT FIND A REASON FOR THE LIGHT TO REMAIN ON. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO ASSIST OR FIND A REASON STATING THAT IT WAS MY PROBLEM AND I WOULD NEED TO PAY FOR ANY REPAIRS TO THE COMPONENT. RECENTLY, DURING A U JOINT REPAIR, THE SHOP I TAKE MY VEHICLE'S TO WARNED ME THAT THE AIRBAG WOULD NOT DEPLOY IF I WERE TO BE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. THEY STATED THAT THE RED INDICATOR LIGHT IS SHOWING ME THAT THERE IS NOT AN ACTIVE AIRBAG SYSTEM. I'D LIKE TO KNOW IF THERE IS A PATTERN WITH THIS PARTICULAR MAKE OR MODEL AS THERE SEEMS TO BE QUITE A FEW ISSUES WITH TOYOTA TRUCK MODELS AT THE MOMENT. MY DAUGHTER ALSO DRIVES A 2006 TACOMA AND WAS REIMBURSED FOR HER SPIRAL CABLE REPAIR EXPENDITURE. *TR

BETWEEN 42000 AND 47000 MILES, THE DRIVER SIDE LEAF SPRING BROKE. SERVICE DEPARTMENT STATES PASSENGER SIDE LEAF SPRING IS LIKELY TO BREAK SOON. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SUBJECT TO ANY HEAVY LOADS, OFF-ROAD TRAVEL OR TOWING. OWNER EXPECTATIONS BASED ON PREVIOUS VEHICLE OF SAME MAKE AND MODEL (1998) ON WHICH THE LEAF SPRINGS LASTED 100,000 MILES SUBJECT TO THE SAME DRIVING CONDITIONS. *TR
I NOTICED EXCESSIVE RUST FORMING IN INNER WHEEL HOUSING NEAR BOLTS HOLDING WHEEL SPRINGS. LOOKING FURTHER SHOWED EXCESSIVE RUST FORMING ON OTHER SHEET METAL WHICH WAS PROTECTED FROM THE WEATHER. I DID NOTHING UNTIL I RECEIVED THE RECALL ABOUT RUST PROBLEMS ON THE TRUCK FRAME. WHEN I SPOKE TO TOYOTA ABOUT THE SHEET METAL RUST, THEY REFUSED TO CONSIDER IT SAYING THE RECALL ONLY COVERED THE FRAME. A CALL TO NATIONAL TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE GOT THE SAME RESPONSE. I BELIEVE THAT TOYOTA'S PROBLEM WITH APPLYING RUST PREVENTION IS MORE EXTENSIVE THAN JUST THE FRAME AND AFFECTS NEARLY ALL OF THE SHEET METAL ON THE TRUCK. FAILURE TO ADDRESS THIS SHEET METAL RUST COULD LEAD TO POTENTIAL HANDLING AND STEERING PROBLEMS SHOULD THE RUSTED AREAS BREAKAWAY. *TR
MY 2008 TOYOTA TACOMA HAS A FACTORY BED EXTENDER. WHICH ALLOWS USE TO USE THE TAILGATE AS PART OF THE TRUCK BED. DUE TO THE SMALL 5 FT BED. LOAD THE WEIGHT OF A ROTOTILLER INTO THE TRUCK CASED THE TAILGATE TO BOW AND BECOME UNSTABLE. THEY DO NOT HAVE ANY WEIGHT LIMIT OR RESTRICTION POSTED. IF THEY SELL PARTS TO USE THE TAILGATE TO SUPPORT ITEMS IT SHOULD NOT FAIL UNDER SUCH LIGHT LOADS. 2008 TOYOTA TACOMA TAILGATE IS DANGEROUSLY WEAK, AND IS UNABLE TO SUPPORT WHAT MOST CONSIDER NORMAL WEIGHT FOR A TRUCK TAILGATE. ALTHOUGH SUBSTANDARD DESIGN MAY BE CONSIDERED "BUYER BEWARE", TRUCK BUYERS EXPECT A TAILGATE TO SUPPORT THE WEIGHT OF NORMAL TRUCK USE ACTIVITIES. TOYOTA PROVIDES NO WARNING OR CAUTION ANYWHERE THAT THE TAILGATE IS OF INSUFFICIENT STRENGTH TO PERFORM NORMAL 1/2-TON TRUCK DUTIES, AND TYPICALLY (PER INTERNET FORUM THREADS) TELLS THEIR CUSTOMERS THAT IT IS THEIR PROBLEM AND THAT THEY SHOULD NOT EXPECT TO BE ABLE TO SAFELY USE THE TAILGATE FOR ANYTHING MORE THAN HIDING THE INSIDE OF THE BED. SINCE TOYOTA HAS PRODUCED A SUBSTANDARD DESIGNED PART, THEY SHOULD HAVE PROVIDED A VISUAL WARNING ON THE PART TO ALERT CUSTOMERS TO THE DANGER THEIR PRODUCT IMPOSES IF USED IN A TRADITIONAL MANNER. SINCE THEY DID NOT DO SO, THEY SHOULD BE HELD LIABLE TO PROVIDE A REDESIGNED PART TO THEIR CUSTOMERS OR FULL RESTITUTION FOR THE PURCHASE PRICE OF THE VEHICLES. A GOOGLE OR SIMILAR INTERNET SEARCH ON "TACOMA TAILGATE FORUM" WILL SUBSTANTIATE MY STATEMENTS BEYOND MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE WITH THE TAILGATE BENDING. *TR
I LIVE IN NOME, ALASKA. IT HAS BEEN OVER 5 MONTHS SINCE THE RECALL FOR THE LEAF SPRINGS THAT NEED TO BE CHANGED AS THE RECALL SAYS SO. I HAVE HEARD NOTHING ABOUT GETTING IT FIXED. ONE SPRING IS BROKEN AS IT NOTES IN THE RECALL. THERE ARE SEVERAL AUTO SHOPS HERE NOT A TOYOTA DEALER. TOYOTA HAS NOT ARRANGED TO GET THIS PROBLEM FIXED HERE. ALSO THERE ARE RECALLS ON MY SEAT BELT WHICH HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED TO GET FIXED EITHER. I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE FROM KENDALL TOYOTA OUT OF FAIRBANKS, AK. *TR
DRIVERS SIDE REAR LEAF SPRING RUSTED AND A SECTION OF THE CENTER SPRING WAS BANGING OFF THE BRAKE LINE. I HAD THE SPRING REPLACED 2 WEEKS LATER ONCE THE PART ARRIVED AT THE DEALER AT MY COST. NOW IN JUNE 2014 THE PASSENGER SIDE LEAF SPRING ALSO RUSTED AND WAS BANGING OFF THE BRAKE LINE. IT HAS BEEN 5 WEEKS AND THE PART IS STILL NOT AVAILABLE. I HAVE TIED THE SPRING TOGETHER WITH BUNGEE CORDS IN ORDER TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THE ONLY THING HOLDING A LARGE PIECE OF METAL FROM BREAKING LOOSE IN BOTH INSTANCES WAS A BRACKET. IF THE METAL CAME OFF ON THE HIGHWAY A SERIOUS INJURY OR ACCIDENT COULD HAVE HAPPENED. TOYOTA ISSUED A RUST RECALL FOR THE FRAME OF THE VEHICLE BUT NOT THE LEAF SPRINGS. I HAVE SPOKEN TO MANY PEOPLE, INCLUDING THE DEALERSHIP, AND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT IS NOT BEING ADDRESSED BY TOYOTA. THE DEALERSHIP NOW TOLD ME TOYOTA HAS CHANGED THE SPRING DESIGN AND I SHOULD HAVE BOTH SPRINGS REPLACED AT MY COST. AS A RESULT, THERE WAS A CRACKING SOUND FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE BECAME UNSTABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE LEAF SPRING ON THE REAR PASSENGERS SIDE. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE, AND THE LEAF SPRING WAS REPLACED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V604000 (SUSPENSION) HOWEVER, THE PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE TO PERFORM THE REPAIRS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 138,000.

I HEARD A NOISE FROM THE REAR END WHEN I HIT A POTHOLE.WHEN I GOT HOME AND CHECKED THE REAR END, I NOTICED 1 OF THE R/R LEAF SPRINGS HAD FRACTURED ALL THE WAY THROUGH. I HAD IT REPLACED AT A SERVICE STATION IN APRIL 2013.I RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM TOYOTA IN 2014 THAT CERTAIN 2005-2011 VEHICLES WOULD BE RECALLED.THIS IS JULY OF 2015 AND STILL NO WORD ON THE FIX OR RECALL. IT SEEMS FAIRLY OBVIOUS IT WOULD BE BETTER TO ADD ANOTHER LEAF SPRING FOR BETTER SUPPORT. WHAT IS TAKING SO LONG TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE? I CONTACTED TOYOTA CUSTOMER CARE FOR REIMBURSEMENT MONTHS AGO, BUT ALL THEY KEEP SAYING IS THEY CAN DO NOTHING TILL THE FIX IS APPROVED AND READY. ITS BEEN 2 YRS. SINCE THE INCIDENT. SURELY THEY SHOULD MOVE FASTER THAN THIS.

WINDOW ACTUATORS STOPPED WORKING CORRECTLY, FIRST ON PASSENGER DOOR, NOW ON BOTH DOORS. KEYLESS ENTRY DOES NOT WORK . AND THE WINDOW ON THE PASSENGER SIDE DOES NOT WORK, CAN NOT PUT IT UP OR DOWN. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA TACOMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, HE APPLIED THE BRAKES BUT THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY AN IMMENSE AMOUNT OF PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES. THE CONTACT STEERED THE VEHICLE ONTO A CURB TO AVOID TRAFFIC AND THEN CRASHED INTO A CONSTRUCTION SIGN. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND OPERATED AS DESIGNED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED BY A MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THEY WOULD DISPATCH SOMEONE TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS STILL AWAITING THE INSPECTION. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 104,000.
IT HAS HAPPENED TWICE TOO ME TRUCK IS RUNNING FINE AND THEN CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON TRUCK GOES INTO A LIMP MODE . HAS DONE IT TWICE ONCE RUNNING ABOUT THIRTY MILES PER HOUR THE SECOND TIME RUNNING 70 MPH IN BUSY I-10 TRAFFIC IN JAX FL RUSH HOUR BAD NEWS. TRUCK NEVER SHUTS OFF GOES TO A IDLE SPEED AND WILL NOT RUN OVER 20 MILES PER HOUR MAYBE IF YOU LUCKY . NO THROTTLE RESPONSE IT WILL ONLY HAVE A IDLE . NEVER SHUTS OFF . *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON A RURAL ROAD, APPROXIMATELY 55MPH MY STEERING COLUMN CAME OUT OF THE DASH AND INTO MY LAP. AFTER RECEIVING A RECALL NOTICE FROM TOYOTA FOR A SPIRAL CABLE RECALL IN THE STEERING ASSEMBLY I MADE ARRANGMENTS TO TAKE IT IN FOR BOTH TO BE REPAIRED. TOYOTA CALLED ME THIS MORNING TELLING ME THAT THE TABS IN THE STEERING COLUMNS WERE SHEARED AND IT WOULD NOT BE COVERED BY THE RECALL OR MY EXTENDED WARRANTY. I FEEL THAT THE TABS ARE OBVIOUSLY ANOTHER CHEAP PART THAT TOYOTA IS MAKING THIER VEHICLES OUT OF AND RISKING THE SAFETY OF PEOPLE. THIS TRUCK IS A FOUR WHEEL DRIVE AND SHOULD NOT FALL APART GOING OVER A BUMP ON A DIRT ROAD. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO REPLACE IT INTO THE COLUMN AND STEER OFF THE ROAD SAFELY, BUT SOMEONE ELSE MAY NOT REACT AS FAST AS I DID. THE SERVICE EMPLOYEE AT TOYOTA REQUESTED SOMEONE FROM THE WARRANTY DEPARTMENT COME TOMORROW TO INSPECT IT TO SEE IF THEY CAN APPROVE COVERAGE IF NOT THEY ARE REQUESTING APPR $1200.00 FROM US TO INSTALL A NEW STEERING COLUMN. I WAS ABLE TO FIND OTHER TOYOTA BLOGS WHERE OTHER MAKES AND MODELS HAVE HAD THIS SAME THING HAPPEN TO THEM. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER HAS ISSUED A TSB FOR REPLACEMENT OF WEAK SPRINGS FOR VEHICLES STILL UNDER THE NEW VEHICLE COMPREHENSIVE WARRANTY. THE AFTERMARKET SPRING SUPPLIER THAT I PURCHASED A REPLACEMENT SPRING FROM STATED THIS IS HIS BEST SELLING SPRING; I THINK THAT IS A STRONG INDICATION OF A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM. *TR
FIRST THE AUTO DOOR LOCKS STOPPED WORKING, THEN THE PASSENGER WINDOW AND FINALLY THE DRIVERS WINDOW. WE WERE TOLD THE ACTUATORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND WOULD COST APPX $500 EACH PLUS LABOR!
INITIALLY BEGAN OCCURRING ON HIGHWAY OFF-RAMPS THAT CURVED IN AN ARC. ACCELERATOR WOULD DIE AND NOT RESPOND TO BEING PUSHED DOWN. ENGINE WOULD NOT EVEN REV. LOSS OF FORWARD MOMENTUM WOULD LAST 5-9 SECONDS AND CAUSE TRAILING VEHICLES TO TAKE EVASIVE ACTION. ACCELERATOR WOULD THEN RETURN TO BEING RESPONSIVE, AND ENGINE WOULD REV WHEN ACCELERATOR PRESSED, AND SPEED INCREASE ONCE AGAIN. THIS HAPPENED 4 TIMES OVER A SPAN OF 25000 MILES; 3 TIMES WHEN TURNING TOWARDS LEFT ON A RAMP, AND THEN ONCE WHEN TURNING TOWARDS RIGHT ON A TRAFFIC CIRCLE. WHILE DRIVING ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY IN THE RAIN, PASSENGER SIDE WINDSHIELD WIPER STOPPED WORKING DUE TO FAILED WIPER LINKAGE. *TR
THERE ARE TWO SEPARATE ISSUES WHICH MAKE A DEADLY COMBINATION. WHEN I STOP IN TRAFFIC ON THE FREEWAY THEN ATTEMPT TO ACCELERATE, THE CAR WILL REV AT A HIGH RPM WHILE FAILING TO ACCELERATE AS IT WOULD UNDER NORMAL OPERATIONS. NOW THIS IS WHERE IT IS SCARY FOR ME. WHEN I LET OFF OF THE GAS PEDAL UNDER THESE CONDITIONS, SOMETIMES THE RPM'S WILL GO DOWN AS YOU WOULD EXPECT BUT SOMETIMES THE RPM'S WILL STAY VERY HIGH EVEN AFTER I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL. AT THAT POINT I STEP ON THE BRAKE, TURN ON MY EMERGENCY LIGHTS, PUT THE CAR INTO PARK AND TURN OFF THE ENGINE THEN TURN IT ON AGAIN. THIS IS ALL TOO REMINISCENT OF THE PROBLEM WITH TOYOTA CARS THAT ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. LUCKILY, THE FIRST ISSUE I MENTIONED, WHERE THE CAR DOESN'T ACCELERATE PROPERLY AFTER STOPPING, IS STOPPING THIS CAR FROM ACCELERATING AT A HIGH SPEED AND CAUSING INJURY TO ME AND ANYONE IN MY PATH. *TR
ON 5/2/12 ONE OF THE RIGHT TURN SIGNALS STOPPED WORKING. WHILE INSPECTING THE LIGHTS TO DETERMINE WHICH BULB TO REPLACE, I NOTICED THAT THE PLASTIC LENS IMMEDIATELY IN FRONT OF THE TURN SIGNAL BULBS ON BOTH SIDES IN THE FRONT IS BLACKENED AND MELTING FROM THE HEAT OF THE BULB. ADDITIONALLY, THE LENS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT IS CRACKED ON THE INSIDE WHERE THE BULB HAS OVERHEATED THE LENS. FURTHER INSPECTION OF THE LAMP SOCKET SHOWS HEAT FATIGUE AND DISCOLORATION DUE TO OVERHEATING. IT APPEARS AS IF THE LIGHT BULB IS TOO CLOSE THE LENS AND THERE IS INADEQUATE VENTILATION FOR THE HEAT. I AM CONCERNED THAT CONTINUAL HEATING OF THE LENS AND THE SOCKET MAY LEAD TO AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE OF THAT COMPONENT, CAUSING A FIRE. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT THIS TRUCK MODEL'S RUNNING LIGHTS (WHICH ARE ALSO THE TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS) ARE ALWAYS ON WHENEVER THE HEADLIGHTS ARE OFF, THERE IS NO WAY OF SHUTTING THESE LIGHTS OFF. FYI: INTERNET SEARCHES HAVE TURNED UP NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS SAME ISSUE. MANY CONCERNED CUSTOMERS HAVE REPORTED THE ISSUE TO TOYOTA (MYSELF INCLUDED), HOWEVER, TOYOTA WILL NOT FIX OR EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE. I HAVE TAKEN THE LIBERTY OF LOOKING AT THE TURN SIGNAL LENSES OF PARKED TACOMA TRUCKS JUST TO SEE IF THEY HAVE THE SAME ISSUE AS MINE. ON THE SECOND TIME, DEALER REPLACE THE ALTERNATOR DUE TO LOWER THAN 14 AMPS AND REPLACE THE BATTERY THE THIRD TIME. AFTER THREE WEEKS, THE TRUCK WONT START AGAIN, AND SENT THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER TO REPLICATE THE SITUATION. AGAIN THE TRUCK WAS GIVEN A CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH. THE DEALER KEEP SHOWING ME TAPE RESULT OF TEST ON THE BATTERY, ACCEPTING THE CHARGE, THE ALTERNATOR AND CHARGING AMPS OUTPUT. THE DEALER ELIMINATED ANY PARASITIC DEVICE THAT EATS MORE POWER OR WAKES UP WHEN A DEVICE ARE SUPPOSE TO BE SLEEPING. I NEED HELP.

ON ANOTHER TRIP A FEW WEEKS LATER WITH 3 OF THE SAME PEOPLE IN THE CAR IN SNOW CONDITIONS I AGAIN HIT THE BUMP STOPS BUT THIS TIME THE VEHICLE VEERED TO THE RIGHT AND I LOST CONTROL DUE TO LACK OF TRACTION. TOYOTA HAS INSPECTED THE VEHICLE ON 2 OCCASIONS IN REGARD TO THE BOTTOMING OUT ISSUE, BOTH TIMES THEY SAY NOTHING IS WRONG, DID HAVE THE FACTORY TSB DONE FOR THE SUSPENSION EARLY ON BUT IT HAS NOT HELPED, AS TRUCK GETS OLDER THE LACK OF CONTROL AFTER HITTING THE BUMP STOPS IS REPEATABLE AND PREDICTABLE EVEN WITH LESS WEIGHT THAN IT IS RATED FOR. *TT

IN THE SAME EMAIL I WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE'S FRAME WARRANTY WAS FOR 3 YEARS OR 36,000 MILES. FAST FORWARD TO AUGUST/SEPTEMBER OF 2013. I SPOKE WITH THE CUSTOMER RELATIONS MANAGER AND SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE FRAME TO BE INSPECTED. WHEN THE TRUCK WAS ON THE LIFT THE SERVICE MANAGER DIDN'T EVEN CARE TO LOOK AT THE FRAME. THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP IS NOT INTERESTED IN HELPING ME AT THIS POINT. I WAS TOLD THAT THE AMOUNT OF FRAME RUST ON THE TRUCK IS "NORMAL'. THEY SUGGEST I HAVE THE RUSTY FRAME UNDERCOATED.
