MY 2009 TACOMA WHEN SLOWING OR GOING AROUND A CORNER, PRIMARILY A RIGHT TURN FAILS TO ACCELERATE WHEN THE PEDAL IS PRESSED AND THE ENGINE RACES MOMENTARILY, THEN ENGAGES. I HAVE HAD IT IN TO THE DEALER ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM IS THE "DRIVE BY WIRE" WHICH IS ELECTRONIC, HOW CAN TOYOTA SAY THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE ELECTRONICS WHEN THEY BLAME THE REVERSE PROBLEM ON ELECTRONICS? *TR
WHILE BRAKING AT INTERSECTION, TRUCK ACCELERATED STRIKING VEHICLE IN FRONT, CAUSING THAT VEHICLE TO STRIKE CAR IN FRONT OF THEM. FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE. *TR
FRONT END WOBBLES. DEALER HAS TRIED TO FIX THIS AT LEAST 3 TIMES. *TR
TRANSMISSION DOES NOT RESPOND WHEN YOU ACCELERATE AFTER SLOWING PROBABLY BETWEEN 1ST AND 2ND GEAR. THE TACH WILL GO UP BUT THE TRANSMISSION FAILS TO ENGAGE AND YOU JUST END UP COASTING INTO A TURN OR MERGING INTO TRAFFIC. THIS HAS OCCURRED SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG. BUT FROM OTHER COMPLAINTS I SEE THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING WITH SOME 09 TACOMAS. YOU CANNOT PULL INTO TRAFFIC FROM A ROLLING START SAFELY. *TR
THE RADIO ON MY 2009 TOYOTA TACOMA ACCESS CAB 4 CYL PICK UP RANDOMLY TURNS OFF AND BACK ON. IT ALSO RANDOMLY CHANGES CHANNEL FREQUENCY FROM SET POSITION, AND THE LCD DISPLAY SCREEN IS FILLED WITH UNREADABLE CHARACTERS.I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM ON ALL TOYOTA MODELS AND TOYOTA DOES NOT HAVE ANY FIX AS OF YET. I WANTED THEM TO INSTALL A NEW UNIT AND THE DEALERSHIP REFUSED, STATING THAT ALL OF THE RADIOS WERE DEFECTIVE AND I WOULD JUST BE INSTALLING ANOTHER DEFECTIVE UNIT. THEY ADVISED ME TO CALL THEM BACK 4 WEEKS LATER TO SEE IF TOYOTA HAD A FIX YET. IT HAS BEEN 3 MONTHS NOW AND NO FIX. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2009 TOYOTA TACOMA 4X4 AND THE TRANSMISSION INTERMITTENTLY SLIPS,MOSTLY WHEN YOU FIRST ACCELERATE(I HAVE ALMOST BEEN INVOLVED IN 2 CAR ACCIDENTS DUE TO THIS)AFTER TALKING AND BRINGING THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER THEY SAY ITS NORMAL,I HAVE FOUND THAT ON EDMUNDS.COM 108 OTHER TOYOTA TACOMA OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND GETTING THE SAME ANSWERS FROM THE DEALERS,YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN ITS GOING TO SLIP BUT I DON'T LET MY WIFE OR KIDS RIDE IN THE TRUCK. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA TACOMA. WHILE ACCELERATING, THE VEHICLE ACTS AS IF IT IS STUCK IN NEUTRAL. AFTERWARDS, THE RPMS SLIGHTLY INCREASE ACCOMPANIED WITH SUDDEN SCREECHING NOISES. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE COMPUTER MODULE. SOON AFTER THE REPAIR, THE FAILURE RECURRED. HE IS IN THE PROCESS OF TAKING THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER TO HAVE IT INSPECTED, AND IS CURRENTLY WAITING FOR A RESPONSE FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 400 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 700.
I NOTICE THE BRAKE PEDAL GOES ALL THE WAY DOWN BEFORE THE BRAKE FEELS THAT IS APPLIED. I'VE TAKEN BACK TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY FOUND NOTHING IN ERROR. I DISAGREE. I'VE HAD SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE DRIVE MY CAR-WITH THE SAME CONCERN. BRAKES DON'T GRAB. MY BROTHER WHO IS UPS HEAD MECHANIC SAID THE SAME, A FAULT WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL. SHOULDN'T HAVE TO GO TO THE FLOOR BEFORE THE BRAKING SYSTEM IS APPLIED. JUST WANT YOU TO KNOW THERE'S A PROBLEM THERE. I'M AWARE OF IT SO I DRIVE WITH CAUTION. BUT THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESS. THANKS, PATTI KAY. I TOOK BACK TO DEALERSHIP OCT.22 2008 AND THEY SAID THE CAUSE WAS FROM THE FLOOR MAT---IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW MANY FLOOR MATS YOU HAVE IT'S IN THE PEDAL. EITHER NEEDS ADJUSTED OR NEW PEDAL SYSTEM PUT IN. *TR
TRANSMISSION SLIPS, ENGINE RACES AND GOES INTO GEAR. SPORADIC AND UNRELIABLE ACTIONS, SOMETIMES CAUSES WHEEL SPIN. MANUFACTURER CLAIMS ALL NEW VEHICLES PERFORM THIS WAY AND REFUSES TO FIX. INDEPENDENT MECHANIC VERIFIED MY CONCERN AND STATED IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA TACOMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HIS FRONT DRIVER SEAT CAUSES BACK PAIN AND HIS HEAD REST CAUSES NECK PAIN. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER COULD NOT REMEDY THE ISSUE WITH THE SEAT.THE CONTACT FEELS THAT THIS IS A PERSONAL SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE IT CAUSES NECK AND BACK PAIN. FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000. CURRENT MILEAGE IS 28,000.
MY ONE WEEK OLD 2009 TOYOTA TACOMA TRUCK'S BLUE TOOTH FUNCTION IS DEFECTIVE. IT WILL NOT READ CONTACTS FROM CELL PHONE. I AM SUPPOSED TO ENTER MY 500 EVER CHANGING CONTACTS ONE BY ONE INTO THE TRUCK'S BLUE TOOTH SYSTEM. OTHERWISE, I WILL HAVE TO LOOK AT MY CELL PHONE WHILE DRIVING, DIAL THE NUMBER, THEN TALK ON THE BLUE TOOTH. TOYOTA E-MAILED THAT I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN MY CELL PHONE IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THEIR SYSTEM. THERE IS NO WHERE IN TOYOTA TACOMA MANUAL OR ELSE WHERE SPECIFYING THE NECESSITY FOR SPECIFIC MAKE, MODEL, AND CARRIER OF CELL PHONE TO BE COMPATIBLE WITH THE TOYOTA BLUE TOOTH. MY CELL PHONE IS AN LG, VX8300 MODEL PURCHASED ABOUT A YEAR AGO. MY CARRIER IS VERIZON WIRELESS. AFTER ASKING FOR MY CELL PHONE MAKE, MODEL, AND CARRIER, TOYOTA E-MAILED TO ME THAT MY CELL PHONE IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THEIR VEHICLE BLUE TOOTH SYSTEM. TOYOTA DID NOT MENTION WHAT CARRIER, CELL PHONE MAKE, AND MODEL I SHOULD HAVE TO BE ABLE TO WORK IT. THEY ARE IGNORING THE ISSUE. PLEASE HELP. *TR
I LIVE IN CHARLESTON, SC AND I PURCHASED A 2009 TOYOTA TACOMA ON MARCH 17, 2010 WITH 12,000 MILES ON IT. I WAS EXCITED TO TAKE IT ON VACATION TO THE FLORIDA PAN HANDLE OVER THE EASTER WEEKEND. MY EXCITEMENT TURNED TO A NIGHTMARE ON SATURDAY APRIL 3RD WHEN WHILE PASSING ANOTHER VEHICLE ON A RURAL ROAD IN FLORIDA THE TACOMA GAS PEDAL PULLED AWAY FROM ME AND THE CAR ENGINE WENT TO MAXIMUM RPM. I PUT THE TACOMA IN NEUTRAL AND COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO REV AT MAX RPM, EVEN AFTER I TURNED IT OFF AND THEN RESTARTED IT. I HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO THE NEAREST TOYOTA DEALER WHICH WAS LOCATED IN TALLAHASSEE FL. THE SERVICE DIRECTOR AT LEGACY IMMEDIATELY STATED THAT THE FLOOR MATS CAUSED THE ACCELERATION. HE PROVIDED A RENTAL CAR FOR ME FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE WEEKEND, AND TOLD ME HE WOULD HAVE THE TRUCK CHECKED OUT ON MONDAY MORNING. I RECEIVED A CALL BACK ON MONDAY AFTERNOON TELLING ME THAT TOYOTA WAS RELEASING THE CAR BACK TO ME, AND THAT IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. I TOLD THE DEALER THAT I FELT THE CAR HAD A PROBLEM, AND THAT I DID NOT FEEL THAT IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. I AM CERTAINLY NOT AN AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEER OR A MECHANIC, HOWEVER I DO HAVE A MASTER'S DEGREE IN MECHANICAL ENGINEERING, AND HAVE BEEN A LICENSED PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER FOR 20 YEARS. I RENTED ANOTHER CAR AT MY OWN EXPENSE, AND DROVE 400 MILES BACK TO SOUTH CAROLINA ON TUESDAY APRIL 6. MY 19 YEAR OLD SON WAS GRADUATING FROM MARINE BOOTCAMP AT PARRIS ISLAND ON THURSDAY APRIL 8TH. I AM CURRENTLY WITHOUT A CAR, AND MORE THAN 400 MILES AWAY FROM WHERE MY TRUCK IS CURRENTLY LOCATED. *TR
2009 TOYOTA TACOMA RECALL. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED TOYOTA'S SOLUTION WAS TO ATTACH THE FLOOR MAT PERMANENTLY AND THAT THE ONLY WAY IT COULD BE REMOVED WOULD BE CUTTING IT OUT. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT WAS NOT A SOLUTION IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM AND WAS NOT ACCEPTABLE. SUCH A SOLUTION WOULD REQUIRE THE OWNER TO REPLACE THE FLOOR MATS ON A REGULAR BASIS AS THEY COULD NOT BE CLEANED WHEN PERMANENTLY ATTACHED. THE PROPER WAY TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM WOULD BE TO REMOVE ALL THE FLOOR MATS AND CARPET, INSTALL A SINGLE FLOOR COVERING THAT WOULD BE PERMANENTLY ATTACH TO THE ENTIRE FLOOR OF THE CAB. IN THE AREA OF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL THERE COULD BE NO IRREGULARITIES THAT WOULD CATCH AND HOLD THE DEPRESSED PEDAL. *JB
S10 APPROPRIATE-LETTER FROM RE CONCERNS ABOUT THE BRAKE PEDAL IN HIS 2009 TOYOTA TACOMA PICKUP TRUCK. *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED HE NOTICED THE BRAKE PEDAL ALMOST WENT TO THE FLOOR BOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR AN INSPECTION, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND ANYTHING WRONG IT. *JB
ENTERING MY COMPLAINT AS ELECTRICAL AS IT INVOLVED THE DOOR ACTUATOR MECHANISMS AND FOB FOR LOCKING AND UNLOCKING THE DOOR LOCKS - FOB GETS EASILY "UN PROGRAMMED" AND CANNOT BE REPROGRAMMED. DOOR ACTUATORS ARE FAULTY WITH LIGHT DUTY DC MOTORS THAT OPERATE THE DOOR LOCK MECHANISM - THE DC MOTORS ARE PRONE TO CARBON BUILD-UP INSIDE, ETC. REAR DOORS (AND POSSIBLY FRONT DOORS, AS WELL) HAVE INTERIOR FAILURE OF DOOR EXIT HANDLE WHICH IS A LIFE-SAFETY ISSUE IN THE EVENT ONE MUST EXIT THE VEHICLE. AND, THIS IS A NUISANCE SIMPLY WISHING TO EXIT THE VEHICLE WHEN THERE IS NO EMERGENCY. THIS IS A FAILED COMPONENT OF NOT JUST THE TOYOTA TACOMA, BUT NUMEROUS OTHER TOYOTA VEHICLES. I HAVE ENTERED TODAY'S DATE AS TO WHEN THIS OCCURRED; HOWEVER, THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN HAVING THE PROBLEM MENTIONED ABOVE FOR THE LAST TWO YEARS.
