THE CONTACT CALLED BRISTOL TOYOTA LOCATED AT 2283 GRAND ARMY OF THE REPUBLIC HWY, SWANSEA, MA 02777, (401) 253-2100, AND WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED AS OF YET. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,458.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING SERVICED AT TOYOTA CITY (1305 E BOSTON POST RD, MAMARONECK, NY 10543, (914) 825-5611) UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V604000 (SUSPENSION) HE BECAME AWARE THAT THE SUBFRAME OF THE VEHICLE WAS CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 34,000.
AFTER COMING TO A STOP AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT OR STOP SIGN, IT FEELS LIKE A "THUD" UNDER THE VEHICLE AND/OR GETTING HIT FROM BEHIND. I NOTICED THIS ON A RARE OCCASION STARTING ABOUT A YEAR AGO, BUT IT SEEMS TO NOW HAPPEN MORE OFTEN THAN NOT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA TACOMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL APPROACHING A STOP SIGN, HE HAD TO PUMP THE BRAKE PEDAL EACH TIME TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A STOP. THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TOYOTA OF FAYETTEVILLE (1352 W SHOWROOM DR, FAYETTEVILLE, AR 72704) WHERE THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER WAS REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE OPERATED AS DESIGNED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 176,000.
THE ORIGINAL WATER BY-P PIPE WAS FAULTY. THE PIPE WAS MADE OF PLASTIC AND IT WORE OFF AT THE FLANGE. THIS CAUSED COOLANT TO LEAK OUT AND CAUSED OVERHEATING, LOSS OF HEAT AND COOLANT. THE NEW PART NUMBER FROM TOYOTA IS 1626875131 WHICH IS NOW MADE OF WHAT APPEARS TO BE STAINLESS STEEL. THE PART FROM THE DEALER LIST 58.04 THE LABOR FROM THE DEALER I WAS QUOTED WAS 6-8 HOURS AND TOTAL PARTS WOULD COST ABOUT $150. WHICH INCLUDED GASKET 1625875021, BOLT W WASHER 90119A0183, GASKET, INTAKE 1717775040, GASKET, THROTTLE 2227175070, AND SUPER LONGLIFE ANTIFREEZE 2 00272SLLC2. I DID THIS WORK MYSELF AND AT THE AGE OF 59 IT WAS BOTH A MENTAL AND PHYSICAL STRAIN. THE INTAKE HAS TO BE TAKEN OFF TO GAIN ACCESS INTO THE VALLEY TO REACH THE WATER BY-P PIPE. I DID THIS WORK IN DEC. 2019. I HAD A HARD TIME SEEING EXACTLY WHERE THE ANTI-FREEZE WAS COMING FROM AND HAD REPLACED THE THERMOSTAT A NUMBER OF TIMES BEFORE REALIZING THE REAL ISSUE. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL FROM TOYOTA AS IT COULD CAUSE A CAR TO OVER HEAT AND BLOW A HEAD GASKET BECAUSE OF THIS FAULTY PART. IT MUST BE OBVIOUS TO TOYOTA BECAUSE THE PIPE IS NOW STAINLESS STEEL. I'M LUCKY I DIDN'T BREAK ANY INTAKE BOLTS OR FUEL LINES IN THE PROCESS. MY 2009 TOYOTA TRUCK HAS ALMOST 200K AND IS BACK RUNNING WITHOUT LEAKING ANTI-FREEZE. I'M NOT SURE IF I CAN GET ANYTHING BACK FOR WHAT I PAID FOR AND MY TIME, BUT PERHAPS THIS WILL HELP OTHERS. I HAVE PHOTOGRAPHS BEFORE AND DURING THE WORK I PERFORMED. BREAKS FAILED AT RED LIGHT ON STATE HIGHWAY...PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR THEN BACK BREAKS SLOWED TRUCK TO A STOP...RUSTED BRAKE LINE ON FRONT LEFT...RIGHT BRAKE LINE ALSO LOOKING TO BREAK FROM RUST IN THE FUTURE...NOT RUBBER COATING ON BREAK LINES LIKE OTHER LINES
HAD JUST ENTERED MY DRIVEWAY AND TACOMA CABIN SUDDENLY FILLED WITH HEAVY SMOKE AND SMELL OF SOMETHING BURNING. STOPPED VEHICLE, SET BRAKE AND GOT AWAY FROM IT AFTER OPENING BOTH DOORS. SHORT TIME LATER OPENED HOOD TO TRY AND DETERMINE WHAT HAD GONE WRONG EXPECTING S RADIATOR HOSE LEAK. AFTER EXAMINING FLUIDS, ONLY THE POWER STEERING TANK WAS EMPTY AND PASSENGER SIDE OF ENGINE SMELLED LIKE CABIN DID. HAD TACOMA TOWED TO DEALER TO DETERMINE WHAT WAS WRONG. THEIR MECHANIC FOUND MASSIVE CORROSION OF THE POWER STEERING RACK AND LINES WERE SPLIT/ROTTEN BLOWING POWER STEERING FLUID ONTO MANIFOLD AND LOWER STEERING SHAFT FREEING UP. THEY HAD TO REPLACE POWER STEERING RACK, LINES, OUTTER TIE RODS AND STEERING SHAFT. THEN DID AN ALIGNMENT. BTW THIS TACOMA HAD A FRAME REPLACEMENT ABOUT A YEAR AGO. I FIRMLY BELIEVE POWER STEERING RACK COULD HAVE BEEN STRESSED DURING THAT TIME. ALSO THEY SHOULD HAVE DETECTED THE CORROSION PROBLEM THEN. THE MECHANIC AND SERVICE ADVISOR SHOWED ME WHAT WAS LEFT LEFT OF PSR...SEVERE CORROSION HAD LEFT PIECES OF IT FLAKING OFF. I'M NOT HAVING MUCH SUCCESS GETTING TOYOTA TO COVER PARTS $$$ REPLACEMENT AND I AM A 4 TIME BUYER OF TOYOTA VEHICLES SINCE 1980'S. IF THIS HAD HAPPENED AT HIGHWAY SPEED I WOULDN'T BE WRITING THIS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FRANKFORT TOYOTA (1001 LEESTOWN RD, FRANKFORT, KY 40601, (502) 695-1500), BUT THE DEALER COULD NOT ASSIST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 108,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 TOYOTA TACOMA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE BRAKES DID NOT WORK. THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOORBOARD MOMENTARILY AND THEN STARTED WORKING AGAIN. IN ADDITION, THE SERVICE ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE TECHNICIAN CLEANED THE BRAKES AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO BRAKE FAILURE. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHIFTED FROM REGULAR GEAR INTO FOUR WHEEL DRIVE ON ITS OWN. ALSO, THE TRACTION CONTROL INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO JOEL CONFER TOYOTA (814-237-5713, LOCATED AT 120 CLINTON AVE, STATE COLLEGE, PA 16803) WHERE THE TECHNICIAN ADDED TRANSMISSION FLUID AND REMOVED A METAL PIECE THAT BROKE OFF THE FUEL TANK COVER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. AND CONTACT WAS TOLD UNINTENDED ACCERLATION TEMPLATE WAS THE PROBLEM, HAPPEN FOR 4 DAYS. THE CONTACT DID NOT BELIEVE THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. STEERING SHAFT JOINT FAILED (PN 45203-04021), CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL OF STEERING/ BINDING STEERING
FRONT HEADLIGHTS HAVE YELLOW SIGNAL AND DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS THAT ARE ALWAYS ON AND THE LIGHT BULB HEAT UP CAUSING THE PLASTIC TO HEAT AND MELT AND STILL FEEL HOT WHEN USING ON A LONG DRIVE. I WORRY ABOUT MY CAR CATCHING ON FIRE
IT JUSS STARTED A WEEK OR SO AGO.THE POWER STEERING IS INTERMITTENT GOIN OUT.IT'S VERY SCARY.I'M NOT SURE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS BUT IT GETS STIFF LIKE THERE'S NO POWER STEERING. THAN IT WILL COME BACK.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT: P0420 FAULT CODE. ALSO, THERE IS A RATTLING SOUND AND EXHAUST BACK UP TO THE PRESSURE RELEASE MOUNT WHERE THE EXHAUST CONNECTS TO THE ENGINE. DEALER DIAGNOSIS CATALYTIC CONVERTER IS FAILING, REPLACEMENT REQUIRED ALSO THE HEAT SHIELD IS RATTING. I WANT TO KNOW IF I CAN GET MY 2009 TOYOTA TACOMA TRUCK VIN ADDED TO THE 2010-2014 TACOMA 2TR-FE EXHAUST PIPE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WARRANTY EXTENSION F0U. ON A INTERMITTENT BASIS THE ENGINE WILL SUDDENLY ACCELERATE WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED. THIS IS NOT A PROBLEM RELATED TO THE FLOOR MATS. THE LAST OCCURRENCE TOOK PLACE AS I WAS ENTERING A PARKING SPACE THE ENGINE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED FORCING ME TO FORCEFULLY APPLY BRAKES AND PUSHING THE GEAR SHIFT INTO PARK. I LOOKED AT THE MATS AND THEY WERE IN THERE CORRECT POSITION. THIS HAS OCCURRED ABOUT FOUR TIMES IN ABOUT FIVE YEARS.
POWER STEERING GOES OUT INTERMITTENTLY. HIGHWAY OR BACK ROADS MAKE NO DIFFERENCE. TURNING THE WHEEL SUDDENLY GETS STIFF, THEN CAN SLIP BACK INTO POWER STEERING AND TURN VERY QUICKLY.
FRONT LOWER BALL JOINTS EARLY SIGNS OF FAILURE COULD LEAD TO MAJOR ACCIDENT. CLUNKING SOUNDS FROM FRONT END. GREASE ALREADY LEAKING. FEAR OF JOINT FAILURE.
2009 TOYOTA TACOMA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO BUBBLE AND CRACK IN PASSENGER FRONT TURN SIGNAL. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEALER REFUSED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE EXPIRATION DATE FOR THE REPAIR TO BE MADE ENDED IN 2015.*JS

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO NEW COUNTRY TOYOTA OF SARATOGA SPRINGS (3002 NY-50, SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY 12866, (518) 584-7272) AND REPAIRED PER AN UNKNOWN RECALL REGARDING THE FRAME. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. WHEN THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED, THE NOISE INTENSIFIED AND THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000.
I HAVE REPORTED TO TOYOTA THAT MY CRUISE CONTROL WORKS INTERMITTENTLY AND THAT IT GOES ON AND OFF AS IT PLEASES. TOYOTA HAS RESPONDED THAT THAT ISSUE IS NOT COVERED WITH THE CURRENT SPIRAL CABLE CLOCK SPRING RECALL. MY TRUCK VIN IS A FEW DIGITS AWAY FROM THE CURRENT LIST. I HAVE REPLACE THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH, THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH AND THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. THE SPIRAL CABLE CLOCK SPRING CONTROLS THE CRUISE CONTROL JUST LIKE DOES CONNECTION BETWEEN THE STEERING WHEEL AIRBAG AND/OR THE VEHICLE'S HORN AND OTHER DEVICES AND THE VEHICLE'S ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS. MY CRUISE CONTROL HAS QUIT/STOPPED WHILE THE TRUCK IS IN MOTION.
DRIVESHAFT AND UNIVERSAL JOINT PROBLEM. TOYOTA HAS ISSUED A "WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT - ZH2" FOR THIS PROBLEM, BUT IT SHOULD BE A FULL RECALL, AS THE CONDITION CAN LEAD TO SUDDEN DRIVESHAFT FAILURE, LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL, AND DEATH. THE PROBLEM APPEARS TO ALSO EXTEND TO THE CENTER BEARING AND POSSIBLY THE DRIVESHAFT ITSELF, AS I TOOK MY TRUCK IN FOR SERVICE UNDER WARRANTY, AND STILL HAVE VIBRATION ISSUES EVEN AFTER THE WARRANTIED PARTS (AND CENTER SUPPORT BEARING AT SIGNIFICANT EXTRA COST) WERE REPLACED. THIS VIBRATION BEGINS AROUND 40 MPH AND INCREASES THROUGH 60 MPH. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND MAY SUSTAIN A SUDDEN DRIVESHAFT FAILURE FROM IMPROPER REMEDIATION OF THIS ISSUE UNDER THE ZH2 CAMPAIGN.
STEERING SHAFT BINDING UP WHILE TURNING. THERE ARE NO GREASE FITTINGS OR BOOT ON UNIVERSAL JOINTS
STEERING SHAFTKNUCKLE IS EXPOSED AND CORRODES RESULTING IN STIFF STEERING. STARTS OUT INTERMITTENT THEN GETS REALY HARD TO TURN, TRUCK HAS ONLY 62269 MILES ON IT AND THIS IS A COMMAN PROBLEM WITH THIS VECHICE ,NO RECALL AND AFTER REPAIR VECHILE HAS TO BE REALIGNED AND AT A TOTAL COST OF $567.58 ALL WORK DONE
STEERING IS STIFF AND JERKY CAUSING DRIVING CONCERNS AT ALL SPEEDS. PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT MAKING IT AN ISSUE AS CAN OCCUR AT ANY TIME. NOT POWER STEERING RELATED.
STEERING IS LOCKING UP WHEN I TURN VERY DANGEROUS!!! SHOULD BE A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED!!!!
POWER STEERING ASSIST SEEMED INTERMITTENT. THE POWER STEERING LOWER SHAFT AT THE UNIVERSAL JOINT HAS BECOME CORRODED MAKING STEERING DIFFICULT (TO OVERCOME THE CORROSION) AS WELL AS DANGEROUS WHEN FURTHER CORROSION LEADS TO STEERING FAILURE. MANY ON-LINE FORUMS MAKE NOTE OF THIS PROBLEM. IT APPEARS TO BE A SYSTEMATIC DESIGN FLAW THAT CAN LEAD TO DANGEROUS CONSEQUENCES. IMAGINE LOSING STEERING CONTROL AT HIGH SPEED. SINCE TOYOTA IS ADDRESSING FRAME RUST FOR THE SAME YEAR, WITH EITHER A REPLACEMENT FRAME OR A PROTECTIVE COATING, WHY ISN'T THIS OF EQUAL CONCERN ON SOME KIND OF RECALL. IT LOOKS LIKE I'VE ADDRESSED THE ISSUE WITH A $600 REPAIR TO PROTECT MY SAFETY, HOWEVER AS THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM, WHY IS IT NOT A VOLUNTARY OR MANDATORY RECALL TO ADDRESS THIS DANGEROUS CONDITION. THIS CONDITION STARTED THE DAY AFTER THE TRUCK WAS RETURNED TO ME AFTER GETTING THE FRAME UNDERCOATING. THIS CONDITION HAPPENS AT ANY SPEED, LEFT OR RIGHT TURNS, WHEN COLD OR WARMED UP. IT IS MOST NOTABLE WHEN COLD AT SLOW SPEED (FIRST STARTED UP, TURNING AROUND IN THE DRIVEWAY).
I HAD A RUSTY FRAME RECALL WHICH I TOOK IN ON FEB. 2018 AND HAD THEY SUPPOSEDLY REPAIRED THIS BY RUSTPROOFING. SINCE THEN ALL THE NEW RUSTPROOFING APPLIED FOR THIS FIX HAS DETERIORATED. THIS TRUCK HAS ONLY BEEN DRIVEN LESS THAN 10,000 MILES SINCE THAT TIME AND IS HOUSED IN A GARAGE. THIS RECALL ENDS ON JULY 28TH OF 2020 AND MY DEALER SAYS THE WILL DO NOTHING. BECAUSE NO PERFORATIONS ARE SEEN THEY WILL NOT HELP. I ASSUMED THAT THIS WAS REPAIRED CORRECTLY WHEN IT WAS DONE INITIALLY BUT HAVE FOUND THAT THE JOB DONE WAS MAINLY COSMETIC AND THE MATTER WAS NOT FIXED. I AM NOW ASKING FOR HELP TO HAVE THIS REPAIR DONE PROPERLY. *TR
STEERING WAS VERY STIFF AND STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT RETURN AFTER CORNERING CAUSING THE TRUCK TO CONTINUE IN THE WRONG DIRECTION. THE STEERING IS STIFFER IN SOME POSITIONS THAN IN OTHERS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (JOSEPH AIRPORT TOYOTA IN VANDALIA, OHIO, 937-898-8060) WHERE THE TECHNICIAN OFFERED TO SPRAYPAINT OVER THE RUST, BUT THE CONTACT DECLINED THE OFFER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO DO WHAT THE DEALER RECOMMENDED, STATING THAT IF THE FAILURE CONTINUED, THE FRAME WOULD BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 75,000.
THE FRAME IS COVERED BY A RECALL. TOYOTA IS LIMITING IT TO CERTAIN STATES. I WAS IN ONE OF THOSE STATES (MAINE). TOYOTA SAYS THE CAR MUST BE REGISTERED IN ONE OF THOSE STATES. MY REGISTRATION ENDED AT THE END OF OCTOBER. WE KNOW LIVE IN FLORIDA WHICH IS NOT COVERED. THE FRAME WAS INSPECTED BY A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IN FLORIDA THAT SAID IT NEEDED TO BE TREATED FOR RUST. (RECALL). BUT BECAUSE MY REGISTRATION CHANGED THEY ARE USING IT AS A REASON NOT TO COVER VEHICLE. I BELIEVE IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND THAT THEY ARE USING LOOPHOLES NOT TO COVER ALL THE VEHICLES THAT SHOULD BE COVERED.

THE PARTS TO DO THE REPAIR WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED AND DIAGNOSED, AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE FRAME NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE AND WAS ABLE TO CONFIRM THAT THE PARTS WERE ORDERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 204,333. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
HEADLAMPS DRL BULBS BURNED THROUGH LENS. TOYOTA WILL NOT COVER EVEN THOUGH THIS WAS RECALLED PREVIOUSLY. THE DESIGN OF THESE HEADLIGHTS IS FLAWED!
THE WELDS LOWER CONTROL ARM MOUNT ON THE DRIVER SIDE FAILED WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES AT HIGH SPEED AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT AND ALMOST COMPLETELY REMOVED MY WHEEL AND THE LOWER CONTROL ARM FROM THE CAR.

A LOCAL DEALER (RICE'S TOYOTA LOCATED AT 2630 BATTLEGROUND AVE GREENSBORO, NC 27408 336-288-1190) CONFIRMED THAT THE REMEDY PARTS WERE ON BACKORDER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
TIRE HOIST RUSTING
Significant amount of rust and rot on multiple structural points of the truck’s frame. This deterioration has advanced much quicker than anticipated, compromising the structural integrity and safety of the vehicle. The rust and rot have affected crucial components of the frame, including crossmembers and suspension mounting points. I have entered my vin # multiple times in the past years to the Toyota frame recall webpage but I am continually denied frame replacement. I feel that the extent of rust and the time frame in which it occurred should allow for a manufacturer replacement or compensation.
PROBLEM WITH TURNING LEFT AND RIGHT, VERY STIFF, LIKE THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE POWER STEERING. BROUGHT IT TO MY MECHANIC, HE HAD TO INSTALL THE LOWER STEERING SHAFT. HE CALLED ARE LOCAL DEALER FOR THE PART, THEY SAID IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM, THEY JUST SOLD 3 THAT DAY. MY QUESTION IS IF THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM, WHY ISN'T TOYOTA TALKING CARE OF THIS! THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE! THIS ENDED UP COSTING ME $400. VERY UNFAIR, THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT.
THE LOWER STEERING LINKAGE U JOINT (INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT) FAILED DUE TO SIMPLE RUST. IT IS UNPROTECTED AND OPEN TO THE ELEMENTS AND THE FAILURE NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. THE SYMPTOMS WERE EXTREME HARD STEERING AND ALMOST CAUSED ME TO DRIVE OFF THE ROAD GOING AROUND A CORNER. THIS WAS A SUDDEN ISSUE, NOT A GRADUAL PROBLEM AND OCCURRED AT ALL DRIVING SPEEDS. MY VEHICLE ONLY HAD 100,000 MILES ON IT.
AT OR AROUND 1330HRS LOCAL TIME ON APRIL11TH I WAS STATIONARY AT A RED LIGHT ON E.MAIN STREET AT FRANKLIN AVE IN ROCKAWAY BOROUGH IN DRY DAYLIGHT CONDITIONS WHEN MY TRUCK EXPERIENCED FULL ACCELERATION IN AN INSTANT PROPELLING ME FORWARD UNTIL I IMPACTED THE VEHICLE 3 FT IN FRONT OF ME ALSO STOPPED AT THE RED LIGHT. THE IMPACT INSTANTLY LOWERED THE ENGINE SPEED TO NORMAL IDLE. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THIS HAPPENED. THE DEALER AND TOYOTA TRY TO HIDE UNDER THE FLOOR MATS INTERFERING WITH THE ACCELERATOR. THE LAST TIME THIS HAPPENED IN 2013 THE DEALER CUT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND REFLASHED THE COMPUTER. IT'S STILL NOT RIGHT. TOYOTA HAD AN INDEPENDENT LAB TO LOOK AT THE EVENTS RECORDER AND REPORTED EVERYTHING IS FINE. THE ENGINE SPEEDS UP IN A RAPID MANNER AT A COMPLETE STOP GIVING THE OPERATOR JUST MILLI-SECONDS TO TRY TO REACT. A CRASH IS THE RESULT. I'M LUCKY TODAY, IT COULD HAVE BEEN PEDESTRIANS RUN OVER AND KILLED.THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM, I WON'T DRIVE THE TOYOTA ANYMORE IT'S AN UNSAFE VEHICLE.

THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN HOME. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THIS WAS THE THIRD TIME THE EXACT SAME FAILURE OCCURRED, CAUSING HIM TO STRIKE OTHER VEHICLES. PREVIOUSLY, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED DUE TO THE FLOOR MAT. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS CUT DOWN AND THE COMPUTER SYSTEM WAS UPDATED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61,000. UPDATED 05/16/17*LJ *CN
STEERING SHAFT BOUND UP THIS AM AND I ALMOST KILLED MYSELF AND ANOTHER PERSN IN THE OTHER CAR CALLED DEALER HE SAID IT IS COMMON PROBLEM AND THEY CHANGE THEM DAILY. HE SAID TOYOTA IS AWARE BUT FEELS ITS NOT A PROBLEM VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN IT HAPPENED AS I WAS TURNING IT LOCKED UP . THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION AND IDEALER KNEW EXACTLY WHAT WAS WRONG. I WENT ONLINE AND TYPED IN TACOMA STEERING BINDS AND THERE ARE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS. THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THE UJOINT OG THE STEERING SHAFT IS EXPOSED TO ALL THE ELEMENTS AND IT IS AS COMMON AS THE TOYOTA RUSTY FRAME RECALL.. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED WITH THIS PROBLEM.
DAY TIME RUNNING LIGHTS MELTED HEADLIGHTS
WAITED FOR 2 YEARS AND FINALLY GOT CALLED FROM THE DEALER. TODAY I WAS TOLD THAT THE TECHNICIAN WILL INSPECT IT AND IF IN NEED WILL ORDER THE PART. THE MANUFACTURER IN THE RECALL LETTER PROMISE TO REPLACE THE LEAF SPRINGS, THE DEALER WILL REPLACE THEM ONLY IF NEEDED.
STEERING IS GETTING STIFF, ESPECIALLY AT LOWER SPEEDS, TIGHTER TURNS. CAUSED BY CORROSION GETTING INTO THE U JOINT OF THE LOWER INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT. POOR DESIGN, DOES NOT PROTECT FROM WEATHER / ROAD CONDITIONS.

NHTSA RECALL NUMBER 14VG-604 I OWN A 2009 TOYOTA TACOMA. CURRENTLY THERE IS A RECALL ON MY TRUCK. NHTSA RECALL NUMBER 14VG-604. I TOOK MY TRUCK INTO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE PART REPLACED FOR THE RECALL. TOYOTA STATED THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPAIR THE PARTS FOR THE RECALL BECAUSE THE TRUCK HAS AFTERMARKET PARTS ON IT. THEY STATED THAT IT WOULD COST ME AN ADDITIONAL 160 FOR THE U-BOLTS TO BE REPLACED IN ORDER TO REPAIR THE RECALL. I CALLED AND SPOKE WITH THE NATIONAL DOT AND TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE, TO SEE IF THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO REPAIR AND REPLACE ALL THE PARTS NEEDED AT NO COST TO ME BUT WERE UNABLE TO PREFORM THE REPAIR. I AM WRITING THIS COMPLAINT DUE TO THE FACT OF A SAFETY CONCERN.
