BOUGHT THE TRUCK FROM A PRIVATE SELLER. FOUND OUT ABOUT THE TOYOTA FRAME RECALL FROM A 3RD PARTY. BROUGHT MY TACOMA IN FOR THE RECALL IN 2013 BUT TOYOTA DID NOT WANT TO CHECK IT BECAUSE I WAS A COUPLE MONTHS PASS THEIR DEAD LINE. NEVER GOT A RECALL LETTER. IN 2014 I HAD THE TRUCK FRAME CHECK AND UNDERCOATED BY A SMALL BUSINESS IN THE AREA BECAUSE I LIKE THE TRUCK AND WANTED IT TO LAST. FALL OF 2017 WENT TO GET THE TRUCK INSPECTED AND INSPECTION STATION TOLD ME MY FRAME WAS GETTING BAD. WHEN I GOT HOME I WANTED CHECK IT OUT FOR MYSELF TO FINE OUT IF MY FRAME WAS REALLY GOING BAD. AS I WAS CHECKING THE FRAME, I WAS ABLE TO PASS MY FIGURES THROUGH THE INSIDE OF MY FRAME. CALLED TOYOTA TO REPORT THIS AND THEY ARE SAYING THAT SINCE I DID NOT BRING MY TRUCK TO GET CHECK IN 2012 THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO FOR ME. THEY SAID THAT IT WASN'T A RECALL BUT A BULLETIN THAT THEY HAD IN 2012.
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFTER UNABLE TO SHIFT -- BEGINNING IN 2017 (3 YEARS INTO THE NEW CAR), THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO EXHIBIT PERIODS WHERE IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO SHIFT. MOVING THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER FROM STATIONARY TO ANY OF THE MOVING POSITIONS (R, D, 3, 2, 1) REQUIRED SIGNIFICANT STRENGTH. BEGINNING EARLIER 2019, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CODE P0705 BEGIN COMING AND GOING ON THE DASHBOARD DISPLAY. THREE TRIPS TO THE DEALERSHIP THUS FAR HAS FAILED TO PROPERLY DIAGNOSE AND REMEDY THE ISSUE.
NAVIGATION CRASHES AND /OR FREEZES WHILE DRIVING. CAN BE A PROBLEM IN A HIGH TRAFFIC AREA WHILE RELYING ON GUIDANCE. THIS IS ESPECIALLY TROUBLESOME WHEN MANY QUICK TURNS ARE INVOLVED. FREEZING UNIT MUST BE REBOOTED WHICH TAKES TIME AND BECOMES A DISTRACTION WHILE DRIVING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 TOYOTA TACOMA. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V425000 (STRUCTURE, EQUIPMENT). THE PARTS TO DO THE REPAIR WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE DEALER (TOYOTA OF NORTH MIAMI, 16600 NW 2ND AVE, MIAMI, FL 33169) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
MY MODEL CAME WITH A ENTUNE RADIO. THEY USE SOFTWARE . SOMETIMES THE RADIO WORKS JUST FINE OR IT MIGHT TURN OFF AND RESTART OR THE BLUETOOTH WORKS THEN DOESNT. IT HAS BEEN A NUMBER OF WACKY PROBLEMS. OTHER PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED ON YOU TUBE AND THE INTERNET. TOYOTA IGNORES THE PROBLEMS.
SINCE I PURCHASED THE 2014 TOYOTA TACOMA IN FEBUARY 2017 IVE HAD CONSTANT DIFULCULTY STEERING/TURNING THE VEHICAL WICH IS NOTICEABLY TO HARD/STIFF FOR POWER STEERING IN THIS TRUCK.3DAYS AFTER I PURCHASED IT,A MAN I KNOW LOOKED AT IT BRIEFLY & RIGHT OFF HE NOTICE THAT ALL 4 TIRES WERE EXCESSIVELY CRACKED BETWEEN THE TREDS ALL AROUND EACH TIRE & CRACKING ONTO TRED BUT CRACKS BETWEEN THE TRED HAD PLACES HE SHOWED ME THAT WERE MUCH TO WIDE & DEEP LEAVING ME,MY CHILD,& OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD IN A HIGHLY UNSAFE MATTER.ALL FOUR GRANDTREK DUNLOP BRAND/MODEL TIRES ARE ALL CRACKED THE SAME & ROTTING AWAY.I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP WHOM I GOT THE TRUCK FROM & THEY REFUSED TO REPLACE THE TIRES NOR GIVE ME THE TOYOTA WARRENTY INFORMATION THEY SAID THE TRUCK WAS STILL COVERED OVER.REGARDLESS,THESE TIRES ARE STILL DEFECTIVE & A HUGE SAFETY THREAT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 TOYOTA TACOMA. WHILE DRIVING ABOVE 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED SEVERE WIND NOISE COMING FROM THE DOOR PANELS. THE NOISE DISTRACTED THE DRIVER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE WINDSHIELD WAS REPLACED, BUT THE NOISE CONTINUED. THE CONTACT ALSO INDICATED THAT THE BACK UP CAMERA WOULD SOMETIMES FREEZE AND MALFUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100.
TACOMA TRUCK PARKED AND STATIONARY. PASSENGER EXITED VEHICLE BUT THE DOOR COULD NOT BE OPENED ALL THE WAY BECAUSE IT WAS CLOSE TO A WALL. THE SHARP ROUGH CORNER EDGE OF THE BOTTOM REAR OF THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR SLICED A PASSENGERS LEG AS THE LEG WAS MOVED TO CLEAR THE DOOR.. DRIVERS SIDE DOOR IS SIMILAR BUT NOT AS TOUGH OR SHARP AS PASSENGERS BOTTOM CORNER OF THE DOOR. IT HAS LEFT A SCAR ON THE LEG. ON DIFFERENT OCCASIONS BOTH FRONT DOORS HAVE SCRAPED MY LEG TWICE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AND MY WIFE'S LEG TWICE ON DRIVER AND PASSENGER DOOR ESPECIALLY WHEN THERE IS LIMITED CLEARANCE FROM THE DOOR THAT IS NEAR A WALL OR OTHER CAR. THIS HAPPENS ON A QUAD CAB BECAUSE THE FRONT DOORS ARE CUT WITH A STRAIGHT EDGE AND THE METAL IS NOT ROUNDED OR SMOOTH FINISH LIKE THE BACK DOORS. TOYOTA ADMITS IN A LETTER THAT THE BOTTOM REAR CORNER PASSENGER DOOR IS SLIGHTLY ROUGHER THAN THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR WHERE THE INJURY MIGHT OCCUR. TOYOTA WILL TAKE NO ACTION.
REAR LEAF SUSPENSION ON TACOMA TRG 4 DOOR CAUSING EXCESSIVE HI-WAY BOUNCE. IN WINTER CONDITIONS THE REAR END WOULD BOUNCE AND REPOSITION THE REAR END CAUSING SWAYING OF VEHICLE ON TURNS. THE INTERNAL CAB AND BOX VIBRATION MAY BE THE CATALYST FOR THE FRAME FAILURES IDENTIFIED IN PRIOR RECALLS? COMBINED WITH THE DRIVE SHAFT VIBRATION ISSUES AT HIGH SPEED HI-WAY TRAVEL THE REAR TIRES OF THE VEHICLE ARE CONSTANTLY DEVELOPING FLAT SPOTS AND REQUIRE EXCESSIVE BALANCING TO AVOID ADDED REAR END VIBRATION. MY VEHICLE HAS 55,000KM (ABOUT 30,000 MILES) ON IT AND I AM ON SECOND SET OF TIRES AS A RESULT.
THE SIDE VIEW MIRRORS FOG OVER, I CLEANED THEM OFF WITH A TOWEL BEFORE I START OFF TO WORK. IF THE WEATHER CONDITIONS CHANGE AND CREATES EITHER A FOG BANK OR A CONDENSATION CONDITION(S) IT BLOCKS THE USE OF THE SIDE MIRRORS. OLDER TOYOTA TRUCKS DID NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM DUE TO THE MIRRORS HAD NO BEZEL AROUND THEM AND THE AIR FLOW OVER THE TOP CREATED A LOW PRESSURE ZONE AND EVAPORATED THE MOISTURE. THIS STYLE OF MIRROR (ON THE 2014 TACOMA) DOES NOT ALLOW THAT CONDITION TO HAPPEN. TOYOTA DOES NOT PROVIDE HEATED MIRRORS FOR THIS VEHICLE. THEIR 2000 4RUNNER DOES, (MY WIFE OWNS ONE AND IT SOLVES THE ABOVE STATED PROBLEM). THIS IS LACK OF VISIBILITY FOR THE USE OF THE SIDE MIRRORS, PLEASE LOOK INTO TO THIS. I HAVE COMPLAINED TO THE DEALER AND COMPANY, THEIR RESPONSE IS THEY DON'T OFF HEATED SIDE VIEW MIRRORS ON THE TACOMA THANKS
WHEN ATTEMPTING TO PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC, WHEN I STEP ON THE ACCELERATOR, NOTHING HAPPENS. YOU HAVE TO PUSH THE SCCELERATOR ALMOST TO THE FLOOR BEFORE YOU GET ANY POWER. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS, IN THAT I HAVE ALMOST BEEN BROAD SIDED NUMEROUS TIMES DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. . I HAVE REPORTED THIS PREVIOUSLY VIA REFERENCE NUMBER 10680961 BACK IN FEB OF 2015. THE NHTSA REPORT WHICH I RECEIVED WAS INCORRECT IN ITS DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM. I HAVE ALSO REPORTED THIS TO TOYOTA, BIT THEY SAY THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM SO NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. MY TRUCK NOW HAS APPROXIMATELY 24,000 MILES AND THE CONDITION HASBECOME MORE FREQUENT. I WANT TO GO ON RECORD WITH THIS COMPLAINT SO IF ANY OTHER DRIVERS ARE EXPERIENCING THIS CONDITION MAYBE TOYOTA WILL DO SOMETHING. MOST OF THE TIME I AM TRYING TO TURN INTO TRAFFIC WHEN THIS CONDISION HAPPENS.
RODENTS ATE WIRING HARNESS IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT, WHILE DRIVING IN THE CITY, THE TRAC AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CANE ON. I RETURNED HOME AND RETRIEVED ERROR CODE P0333 ON MY READER. I TOOK VEHICLE TO DOXON TOYOTA FOR SERVICE / REPAIR. THEY CONFIRMED CODE AND SAID THAT RODENTS HAD CHEWED KNOCK SENSOR WIRE HARNESS. I WAS TOLD THAT TIS WAS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE WAS LESS THAN TWO YEARS AND LESS THAN 9000 MILES OF USE. I CONSIDER THAT MAKING ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS OUT OF MATERIAL THAT IS ATTRACTIVE AND TASTY TO RODENTS A TRACTION AND AIR-BAG SAFETY CONCERN, I.E. SOYBEAN BASED WIRE INSULATION. I HAVE BEEN OPERATING MOTOR VEHICLES SINCE 1963 AND HAVE NEVER HAD THIS HAPPEN TO ANT VEHICLE I HAVE OWNED.
RODENTS CAUSED OVER $3,000 IN DAMAGE BY CHEWING ON CABLES THAT ARE MADE FROM ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING (SOY, RICE HUSKS, WOOD, SUGAR, VANILLA, PEANUT OIL, AND STRAW; REFERENCES: WWW.SYNLUBE.COM/INCREDIBLEEDIBLECAR1.HTM ; WWW.GOOGLE.COM/?GWS_RD=SSL#Q=WHY+DO+RODENTS+EAT+CABLES+ON+CARS+MADE+IN+JAPAN ; GOOGLE: RODENT DAMAGE TOYOTA ). TOYOTA REFUSES TO PAY FOR THE DAMAGE. MY AUTO INSURANCE SAID IT MIGHT PAY (STILL WAITING TO FIND OUT) FOR THE DAMAGE, BUT THERE IS A $501 DEDUCTIBLE. TOYOTA IS THE WORST OFFENDER OF MAKING EDIBLE VEHICLES. IF I HAD KNOWN THIS IN ADVANCE, I WOULD RESEARCHED TO SEE WHICH VEHICLES HAVE EDIBLE CABLES. I WILL BE SELLING MY 2015 TACOMA ASAP AND FINDING ANOTHER PICK-UP ASAP THAT RODENTS WON'T EAT. MY BROTHER LIVES IN THE MOUNTAINS IN NEW MEXICO WHERE THERE ARE MANY VARMITS, AND THEY NEVER ATE THE WIRING ON HIS OLD CHEVY TAHOE, BUT RODENTS HAVE CHEWED ON THE WIRING OF MY TOYOTA TACOMA, AND MY MOTHER'S TOYOTA 4-RUNNER, AND A FRIENDS NISSAN MARANO. THE PROOF OF TASTY CABLES ATTRACTING RODENTS IS OVERWHELMING. MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING ROUGH, AND THE TRAC OFF LIGHT APPEARED. I TOOK IT TO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IMMEDIATELY (IN LEWISVILLE, TX) THE NEXT MORNING AT 8:50AM. NUMEROUS CABLES WERE DAMAGED AND MANY PARTS HAD TO BE REMOVED TO REPAIR THE DAMAGE. THE PROBLEM IS, IF THEY REPLACE IT WITH MORE TASTY CABLES, THE SAME THING WILL HAPPEN. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY ON THE DRIVEWAY BY THE GARAGE. THERE IS ALREADY A CAR IN THE GARAGE AND SOME TOOLS, AND MY PICK-UP IS TOO LARGE FOR THE GARAGE.
WHEN STEPPING ON BRAKE PEDAL IT SLOWLY GOES TO THE FLOOR 0N BOAT RAMP UN LOADING BOAT

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER WAS DRIVING AT 35 MPH, WHEN THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY AND THE BRAKES FAILED TO RESPOND WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO THE REAR END OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED BUT THE PASSENGER AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A FRACTURED RIB AND THE DRIVER HAD A FRACTURED LEFT ARM AND RIB WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,000.

WHEN THE BRAKES WERE ENGAGED, THE VEHICLE STOPPED ABRUPTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE PAD FRACTURED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE ROTORS, PADS, AND DISCS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,500. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
THE NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH PREVENTS THE SHIFTER TO ENGAGE THE DRIVE. I HAVE HAD THE NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH REPLACED ONE TIME UNDER THE MANUFACTURE WARRANTEE. I WILL HAVE IT REPLACED AGAIN TOMORROW APRIL 5, 2018. THE DEALER STAID IT IS CAUSED BY CORROSION. THE SAFETY ISSUE IS THAT YOU CANNOT CHANGE GEARS FROM REVERS TO DRIVE. IF IT FAILS TO ENGAGE, YOU MUST RUN THE GEARS UP AND DOWN AGAIN UNTIL IT DOES. SO BACKING OUT INTO TRAFFIC IS VERY DANGEROUS. DRIVEWAYS, PARKING LOTS AND STREETS, GOING FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE FROM PARKED TO DRIVE ETC. EVEN IF IT IS CAUSE BY SALT ON THE ROADS IN NORTHEAST, OHIO 1 WOULD NOT THINK IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED EVERY 2 YEARS AND IF SO, THE MANUFACTURE SHOULD HAVE DISCLOSED THIS AS A REOCCURRING MAINTENANCE ITEM.

WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT ALL FOUR TIRES WERE CRACKED INSIDE THE TREAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE TIRES WERE NOT REPLACED. THE TIRE AND VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 11,352.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 2 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOORBOARD CAUSING THE CONTACTS FOOT TO DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED, THE BRAKE PEDAL FAILED TO RESPOND, AND CRASHED INTO A TELEPHONE POLE. THE CONTACT DID NOT DISCLOSE IF A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED OR NOT. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON TWO OTHER OCCASIONS NEARLY RESULTING IN CRASHES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,900.

WAITING AT STOP LIGHT, WHEN LIGHT TURNED GREEN PROCEEDED INTO INTERSECTION. AT THAT TIME A MINIVAN STRUCK THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR (90 DEGREES) OF MY 2014 TOYOTA TACOMA. ...UPDATED 05/11/15 *BF THE MINIVAN WAS TRAVELING 40 MILES PER HOUR AND DID NOT APPLY BRAKES (NO SKIDDING) WHEN IT HIT THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR. THE AIRBAGS ON THE MINIVAN DEPLOYED...THE CURTAIN AND SIDE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY ON MY 2014 TOYOTA TRUCK AND THE ACCIDENT WAS A DIRECT IMPACT TO THE TWO SENSORS THAT DEPLOY THE AIRBAGS ON THE DRIVER SIDE. THE SAFETY SECTION OF THE TOYOTA OWNERS MANUAL STATES 3300 LB. VEHICLE TRAVELING 12-18 MILES PER HOUR WILL DEPLOY THE CURTAIN AND SIDE AIRBAGS. I HAVE FILED A CLAIM WITH TOYOTA ON MARCH 9, 2015 REGARDING THE SAFETY CONCERN. TOYOTA REPRESENTATIVE HAS RETRIEVED BLACK BOX DATA FROM THE TRUCK AND SENT ME A COURTESY COPY OF THE DATA ON MARCH 19, 2015. I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY ANALYSIS FEEDBACK FROM TOYOTA INDICATING THE TRUCK IS SAFE TO DRIVE. THE ABS SYSTEM ON THIS TRUCK IS VERY UNPREDICTABLE AND UNSAFE. I HAVE HAD 3 INCIDENTS WHERE THE ABS SYSTEM DISABLED ALL BRAKING POWER TO THE WHEELS AND JUST COASTED TO A STOP NARROWLY MISSING OTHER VEHICLES. THIS HAPPENS MAYBE 10 PERCENT OF THE TIME WHEN DRIVING ON SNOWY ROADS. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THERE IS NO PULSING FROM THE ABS SYSTEM IT IS JUST A DEAD BRAKE PEDAL. THE OTHER 90% OF THE TIME THE ABS WILL PULSE AND THE TRUCK WILL STOP JUST FINE. I HAVE GONE DRIVING IN THE SNOW TO INTENTIONALLY TRY TO RECREATE THIS SITUATION AND I COULD ONLY GET THE VEHICLE TO DO THIS NON BRAKING EFFECT ONCE. THE OTHER TIMES THE ABS PULSED AND STOPPED FINE. MANY OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING SIMILAR ISSUES WITH TOYOTA TACOMAS AND IT IS WELL DOCUMENTED ONLINE AT WEBSITES LIKE WWW.TACOMAWORLD.COM. MANY PEOPLE ARE RESORTING TO REMOVING THE ABS FUSE FROM THEIR TRUCK IN ORDER TO HAVE A SAFER AND MORE PREDICTABLE VEHICLE. NONE OF THE OTHER ABS EQUIPPED VEHICLES I HAVE OWNED HAVE EVER PERFORMED LIKE THIS. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AS YOU NEVER KNOW HOW MUCH DISTANCE YOU WILL NEED TO STOP.

WHEN OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE IS COLD (BELOW 10 DEGREES F) THE CLUTCH PEDAL STICKS FOR 1-2 SECONDS AT THE FLOOR WHEN PRESSED AND RELEASED. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, I CANNOT SAFELY MERGE INTO TRAFFIC. THERE ARE TWO PROBLEMS OCCURRING WITH THIS VEHICLE. ONE IS THE KEY WILL NOT TURN IGNITION SWITCH AT ALL. I WAS AT THE GROCERY STORE FOR HALF AN HOUR TRYING TO TURN ON MY TRUCK AND THE KEY WOULD NOT TURN. NOT EVEN ENOUGH TO TURN A.C/HEAT ETC. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS ALREADY. THE OTHER ISSUE THAT SCARES ME IS THE BRAKES. IT STARTED OFF AS A LOUDER THAN USUAL SQUEAKING OF THE BRAKES ONLY WHILE REVERSING. THEN WHEN BRAKING, IT FEELS AS IF THE ABS KICKS IN THEN LET'S GO. THIS HAPPENS OFTEN, EVEN IN MY DRIVEWAY GOING LESS THAN 2 MPG. THE BRAKE PEDAL FEELS EXTREMELY SOFT WHEN PRESSED AND THE PEDAL NEARLY HITS THE FLOOR. IT'S HAPPENED TWICE WHERE THE BRAKES FEEL LIKE THEY LOCK WHILE I'M DRIVING AND AT TIMES THE TRUCK WILL NOT STOP APPROPRIATELY. THE ROAD HAS USUALLY BEEN DRY ON IN THESE CASE. *TR

DEALER AND MANUFACTURER DECEPTIVELY STATE "THEY ALL DRIVE THAT WAY." THIRD PARTY CONFIRMED VEHICLE IS DEFECTIVE. INTERNET SEARCH REVEALS ONGOING PROBLEMS WITH TOYOTA TACOMA STEERING ASSEMBLY THAT IS BEING IGNORED BY MANUFACTURER. ALLOW ME TO EXPLAIN BY STARTING WITH THE FOLLOWING 2 FACTS: 1. THE RECOMMENDED ACTION TO TAKE WHEN IT IS COLD OUTSIDE AND THE WINDSHIELD BEGINS TO FOG UP WHILE DRIVING IS TO TURN ON THE DEFROSTER ON HIGH HEAT. 2. THE 2014 TACOMA WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO RUN THE DEFROSTER WITH RECIRCULATED AIR, BUT RATHER FORCES ME TO USE 'FRESH' AIR WHEN USING THE DEFROSTER. THE 2 FACTS LISTED ABOVE MAKE THE TRUCK UNSAFE TO DRIVE IN COLD OR HUMID WEATHER FOR FOLLOWING 2 REASONS: 1. THE FRESH AIR (REQUIRED WHILE USING THE DEFROSTER) IS NOT ACTUALLY FRESH, BUT RATHER SMELLS LIKE WHATEVER AIR HAPPENS TO BE AROUND THE TACOMA AT THAT TIME, WHICH MANY TIMES HAPPENS TO BE THE EXHAUST OF THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF OR NEAR THE TRUCK. THIS DIRTY AIR, CONTAINING HAZARDOUS EXHAUST FUMES NOT ONLY SMELLS BAD, BUT CANNOT BE GOOD FOR YOUR SKIN, LUNGS, AND OVERALL HEALTH. THIS SITUATION IS INTENSIFIED TO THE POINT OF COUGHING AND GAGGING WHEN THERE ARE DIESEL EXHAUST FUMES OR WHILE IDLING AT A RED LIGHT NEAR A LOT OF VEHICLES. 2. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THE DIRTY AIR FROM ENTERING THE CAB OF THE TRUCK THROUGH THE DEFROSTER IS TO TURN THE DEFROSTER OFF AND TURN THE AIR TO ANOTHER OPTION (OTHER THAN DEFROST) THAT ALLOWS RECIRCULATED AIR. THIS CREATES AN EXTREMELY UNSAFE SITUATION AS NOW THE WINDSHIELD BEGINS TO FOG UP IMMEDIATELY, CAUSING THE INABILITY TO SEE THE ROAD CLEARLY. SO IN COLD OR HUMID WEATHER, YOU EITHER CANNOT SEE THE ROAD OR YOU HAVE TO BREATHE IN POISONOUS FUMES. WITH A 2014 TOYOTA TACOMA, YOU HAVE TO PICK YOUR 'POISON' IF YOU WANT TO DRIVE IN THE COLD.
MY 2014 TOYOTA TACOMA WHEN DRIVING ON THE FWY OVER 60 MPH HAS VIBRATION AND STEERING WHEEL SHAKE,DEALER HAS REPLACED TIRES, RE-ALIGNED AND ROAD FORCE BALANCE ALL WHEELS AND PROBLEM STILL PERSIST. VEHICLE IS NOW AT 5000 MILES AND BEING BOUGHT BACK AFTER ARBITRATION, OH IT TOOK 2 TACOMA'S WITH SAME ISSUE AND 2/1/2 YEARS TO GET TO THIS POINT. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH WITH THE TRAFFIC COMING TO A STOP, WE WERE SUDDENLY REAR ENDED AND THE PASSENGER SEATING ON THE RIGHT BACKSEAT HIT HER HEAD ON THE PLASTIC PIECE ATTACHED ON THE HEADREST OF HER SEAT AND SUFFERED A HEMATOMA ON THE BACK OF HER HEAD. SHE WAS ATTENDED BY THE PARAMEDICS AND WAS IMMEDIATELY TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL. THE PLASTIC PIECE, WHICH CAUSED THE INJURY, IS LOCATED IN THE LOWER PART OF THE HEADREST AND CAN BE EASILY FELT BY JUST TOUCHING THE HEADREST. THERE IS MINIMAL TO NONE CUSHIONING. I BELIEVE THAT THE TWO REAR HEADRESTS (LEFT AND RIGHT REAR SEATS) OF THE 2014 TOYOTA TACOMA DOUBLECAB IS UNSAFE AND CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURIES. *TR

WHILE DRIVING FROM EAST TO WEST AND CROSSING THE GORGE AT GEORGE, WASHINGTON WIND WAS BLOWING REALLY HARD. THEN I HEARD WIND NOISE COMING INTO THE VEHICLE. I STOPPED AT THE NEXT REST AREA AND CHECKED THE VEHICLE OUT AND FOUND THAT THE WINDSHIELD SEAL HAD LIFTED AND WAS CAUSING WIND NOISE AND FLEXING OF THE WINDSHIELD. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC HAD THE WINDSHIELD BLOWN COMPLETELY OUT. THIS IS UNSATISFACTORY FOR A BRAND NEW VEHICLE. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 TOYOTA TACOMA. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED FROM THE DRIVE TO REVERSE, THE DOORS FAILED TO LOCK AUTOMATICALLY. THE DOORS ON THE VEHICLE ONLY LOCKED WHEN THE POWER DOOR LOCK CONTROL WAS MANUALLY PRESSED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED CONSISTENTLY. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT IF THE DOOR LOCK MECHANISM WAS INSTALLED BY A PRIVATE MECHANIC, THEN THE WARRANTY WOULD BE VOIDED. THE BRAKES ARE "FADING" AFTER STOPPING AT A LIGHT. BY "FADING", I MEAN THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WILL REQUIRE MORE PRESSURE AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN SITTING FOR AT A STOP FOR A TIME. THIS IS ANOTHER HUGE SAFETY ISSUE, BECAUSE THIS IS CAUSING ME TO INCH FORWARD (SO SLOW), THAT I DON'T RECOGNIZE IT, RIGHT AWAY, SOMETIMES, AND I'M DRIFTING INTO THE STOPPED VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. WE WERE DRIVING HOME AFTER THE PURCHASE OF THE TRUCK. THERE WAS SEVERE VIBRATION INSIDE THE CAB AND IT FELT LIKE THE DRIVESHAFT WAS GOING TO FALL OUT. WE HAVE HAD BACK TO THE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES FOR THIS ISSUE AND HAVE BEEN TOLD IT IS A CHARACTERISTIC OF THE VEHICLE BY THE DEALER AND 2 OTHER REPRESENTATIVES FROM TOYOTA. THE DEALER HAS CHANGED DIFFERENT COMPONENTS ON THE SUSPENSION AND MOTOR MOUNTS, NO CHANGE. TIRES HAVE BEEN BALANCED, RE-BALANCED AND REPLACED NO CHANGE. THE DRIVE SHAFT WAS TRUED AND BALANCED, NO CHANGE. THE DRIVESHAFT WAS REPLACED, NO CHANGE. WE TRIED TO WORK WITHIN THE SYSTEM AND BROUGHT OUR CONCERNS TO TOYOTA REPEATEDLY, WE EVEN COMPLETED THE ARBITRATION PROCESS ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT THE VIBRATION IS NORMAL AND A CHARACTERISTIC OF THE TACOMA. THIS DEFECT IS HUGE CONCERN FOR US, THE VIBRATION HAS CONTINUED TO GET WORSE AND OUR GREATEST FEAR IS THAT A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF THE DRIVE LINE WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, CAUSING INJURY TO US AND OTHERS OR POSSIBLY SOMEBODY'S DEATH. AT COLD START UP, OIL PUMP MAKES A HIGH PITCH WHINE NOISE. DEALER SAYS ITS NORMAL DOES NOT CHECK THE ENGINE. *TR
ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL TURNS OFF WHEN CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNS ON. VEHICLE STABILITY IS COMPROMISED. ALMOST ROLLED THE TRUCK OVER. DEALER TECHNICIAN REPORTS THAT RODENTS ATE THE HOSE CONNECTING FUEL INJECTOR AIR PUMP TO VALVE WHICH TRIGGERS THE ECU TO FAULT AND CASCADES FAILURE TO STABILITY CONTROL. TECHNICIAN REPORTS THAT TOYOTA IS USING EDIBLE SOY-BASED PLASTICS FOR ENGINE HOSES AND WIRING HARNESS AND RODENTS ARE CAUSING EXTENSIVE DAMAGE IN TOYOTA VEHICLES. TOYOTA DOES NOT COVER RELATED REPAIRS UNDER MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY. WAS QUOTED $1000 TO REPLACE ONE HOSE SINCE DEALER CLAIMS TOYOTA DOES NOT SELL INDIVIDUAL REPLACEMENT PART FOR THIS HOSE. FIRST LET ME START WITH HOW I ENDED UP WITH THIS HORRIBLE VEHICLE. WE HAD A 2012 CHEVY DIESEL, AMAZING TRUCK, GREAT TRUCK. DIESEL PRICES HAD BEEN RISING AND WAS JUST COSTING TO MUCH TO DRIVE AND WE WANTED TO START SAVING SOME MONEY. WE SHOPPED AROUND AND ENDED UP LOOKING AT THE TOYOTA TACOMA, NOT THE BEST QUALITY BUT NONE THE LESS DECENT GAS MILEAGE (OR SO WE THOUGHT). SINCE DAY ONE WE HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET BETTER THEN 15 MPG ON THE HIGHWAY! ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! 14 CITY! HAVE HAD FUEL EFFICIENCY TEST DONE AND THAT'S WHAT THEY CAME UP WITH AS WELL AND CLAIM NOTHING IS WRONG. CORPORATE REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING AND CLAIM NOTHING IS WRONG, YET EVERYONE I KNOW WITH THIS SAME TRUCK IS GETTING NO LESS THEN 18 MPG HIGHWAY. I HOPE I'M THE ONLY ONE DEALING WITH THIS BECAUSE THE SMALL TRUCK GETS WORSE GAS MILEAGE THEN ANY FULL SIZE TRUCK I'VE EVER OWNED. I WILL NEVER BUY A TOYOTA AGAIN NOR WILL ANYONE I KNOW OR ANYONE IN MY FAMILY. STAY AS FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE FOR TOYOTA. NOW ONTO THE TRACK CONTROL, IT LIKES TO ACTIVATE AT RANDOM. AND THE BRAKES, IF YOUR GOING DOWN A HILL AND YOU USE THE BRAKE FOR MORE THEN ROUGHLY 30 SEC IT WILL START TO VIBRATE, MAKE A HORRIBLE GRINDING NOISE AND THE STEERING WHEEL STARTS SHAKING.... THE QUALITY OF THIS VEHICLE IS POOR AND I MUST ADD THAT THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT NOR WITH THEY FIX IT.
