TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. IT WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR A FRONT END ALIGNMENT AND THE MECHANIC INDICATED THAT THE SWAY BAR FRACTURED FROM THE FRAME. IN ADDITION, THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THERE WAS EXTENSIVE RUST ON THE SWAY BAR AND FRAME. THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THE SWAY BAR AND THE FRAME NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INDICATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL TO ADDRESS THE REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
FOUND 4 INCH RUST HOLE THROUGH FRAME ON 2004 TUNDRA WITH 80,000 MILES THAT WAS TREATED WITH THE COATING IN 2014. TOYOTA CORPORATE SAID THERE IS NOTHING THEY WILL DO TO FIX IT AS THE RECALL OR WHATEVER EXPIRED IN 2015. HOW CONVENIENT. FRAME ROT IS A SAFETY ISSUE! THIS IS A FAMILY VEHICLE! IF NOT REPAIRED, THE FRAME WILL FAIL.
RUSTED REAR DIFFERENTIAL. RUSTED FRAME AT FRONT RIGHT SWAY BAR. CAN'T PASS INSPECTION. SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM JUST LIKE THE 2003 MODEL. I STILL HAVE PAYMENTS ON THIS VEHICLE I CAN'T DRIVE.
TAKATA RECALL; RECEIVED AIR BAG RECALL 2014, TOOK TO DAVID MAUS TOYOTA SANFORD, FLORIDA AND HAD PASSENGER AIR BAG CORRECTED WITH MY RECEIPT. 2016 JUNE, AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WAS ON, (NOTICED WHILE DRIVING) TOOK AGAIN TO DAVID MAUS TOYOTA, THEY FOUND ERROR CODE AND CHECKED ALL DIAGNOSTICS, FOUND NOTHING WRONG. THE SIMPLY DIAGNOSIS COULDN'T DETERMINE THE CAUSE AND THEN WAS ADVISED TO PAY FOR A THOROUGHLY DIAGNOSIS, WHICH I PAID $128.00. TODAY JULY 2ND WHILE DRIVING TRUCK, FOUND AIR BAG LIGHT ON AGAIN (WHILE DRIVING) !! I SPOKE TO DAVID MAUS TOYOTA SERVICE MANAGER JULY 2ND. HE SAID I CAN BRING IT IN AGAIN AND MY $128.00 DOLLARS WOULD GO TO ANY NEEDED REPAIRS. I'M TAKING MY 2004 TUNDRA TRUCK IN, EITHER JULY 5, 6, OR 7TH. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY SERVICED PER A NHTSA CAMPAIGN RELATED TO THE FRAME RUSTING; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 109,265. THE VIN AND NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER WERE NOT AVAILABLE.
FRAME RECALL- MY 2004 TUNDRA WAS RECALLED FOR THE FRAME RUSTING OUT. TOYOTA DEEMED THAT A NEW FRAME WAS NOT NEEDED AND DID THE CRC TREATMENT WHICH IS ABSOLUTE JUNK AND ONLY CAUSES THE FRAME TO RUST EVEN WORSE. REAR DIFFERENTIAL IS COMPLETELY RUSTED AND LEAKING FLUID. PROBLEM ALSO WITH CATALYTIC CONVERTERS.
FRAME HAS LARGE RUST HOLES ON FRONT PASSENGER SIDE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE IN THE VEHICLE. THE HORN, DOOR LOCKS, POWER WINDOWS, AND ALL OTHER ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS EXCEPT THE ALARM MALFUNCTIONED. THE HORN SOUNDED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND PARKED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL MADE A LOUD NOISE WHILE DRIVING. THE SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT WAS THE ONLY LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT FELT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY AND THE CONTACT WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR COSTS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 176,000. UPDATED 08/16/16*LJ CONSUMER STATED I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE RELATED TO STEERING COLUMN AND RELATED PARTS INCLUDING AIRBAG-DEALER STEERING IS NOT RELATED TO SAFETY CONCERNS- I FEEL THIS CAN RESULT IN ACCIDENT BY LOSING. STEERING CONSULTING CONTROL RESULTING IN POSSIBLE INJURY TO MYSELF/ AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD REGARDLESS OF THE MILEAGE CONSUMER'S VEHICLE HAD THE DEALER APPEARED NOT TO BE CONCERNED ABOUT SAFETY. MY SIDE RUNNING BOARD BROKE AWAY FROM THE FRAME DUE TO THE SCREWS RUSTING OUT. SO I CRAWLED UNDERNEATH TO FASTEN THEM BACK IN PLACE. WHILE UNDERNEATH THE TRUCK I NOTICED A VERY DISTURBING AND SCARY SIGHT (SEE IMAGES ATTACHED). MY FRAME IS ALMOST MISSING IN ONE SECTION UNDERNEATH. SO I GOT ONLINE TO LOOK AND SEE IF THIS IS NORMAL, AND WHAT I FIND IS THAT THIS IS NOT NORMAL AND I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS ISSUE. TOYOTA KNOWS THAT THEY HAVE SUB STANDARD FRAMES UNDER THESE AND OTHER VEHICLES. THEY PUT OUT A CAMPAIGN TO REPLACE THE FRAMES ON 2000-20003 TRUCKS, AND ALSO INCLUDED A LIMITED CAMPAIGN TO CHECK ON THE FRAMES OF VEHICLES 2004-2006. THIS CAMPAIGN ENDED IN JULY OF 2015 I BOUGHT THE TRUCK IN JULY OF 2014, BUT WAS NEVER MAID AWARE OF THIS ISSUE. WHEN I CALLED TOYOTA TO SEE WHY THEY SAID NOT THERE PROBLEM. I SPOKE TO THREE DIFFERENT PEOPLE WITH THE COMPLAINTS DEPARTMENT I SPOKE WITH ONE WHO I DID NOT CATCH THERE NAME ON 6/14/2016 FROM 9:18AM-9:49AM WHERE I WAS MERELY TOLD THEY DON'T CARE THAT THERE'S AN ISSUE ALL THEY ARE LEGALLY OBLIGATED TO DO IS CHECK AND HONOR THERE CURRENT RECALL PROGRAMS. THE NEXT LADY I TALKED TOO WHO'S NAME WAS AUTUMN ON 6/15/2016 FROM 12:36-12:42 TOLD ME THE EXACT SAME THINGS. FINALLY THE LAST ONE I WILL SPEAK TOO BECAUSE I'M FALLING ON DEAF EARS IS CHRISTINE AT 2:54PM 6/16/2016 WHO I WAS TOLD WAS A SUPERVISOR IN THE COMPLAINTS DEPARTMENT. TOLD ME THE EXACT SAME THINGS. WHEN I ASKED WHY THEY ARE NOT DOING ANYTHING WITH THESE FRAMES WHEN THEY KNOW THERE IS A SERIOUS ISSUE. I WAS MERELY TOLD IT'S A COMPANY WIDE DECISION THAT WE WILL TAKE NO FURTHER ACTION. I TAKE THIS AS TOYOTA DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THE QUALITY OF VEHICLE THEY PUT ON THE ROAD AS LONG AS THERE ARE STILL PROFITS BEING MADE. I KNOW THERE ARE SEVERAL MAYBE HUNDREDS MAYBE THOUSANDS OF OWNERS OF VEHICLES THAT FALL WITHIN THIS COMPLAINT I HOPE SOMETHING CAN BE DONE TO HELP US.
TAKATA RECALL : TOYOTA AND TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IN NASSAU BAHAMAS REFUSE TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR TRANSPORTING THE VEHICLE FROM THE ISLAND OF ELEUTHERA BAHAMAS TO THE ISLAND OF NASSAU AND THEN RETURNING THE VEHICLE. WE LIVE IN THE BAHAMAS AND THERE IS NO DEALERSHIP ON THE ISLAND OF ELEUTHERA, WE DO NOT WANT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND ACCORDING TO THE RECALL NOTICE "IF YOU ARE UNCOMFORTABLE DRIVING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP, PLEASE CONTACT YOUR AUTHORIZED TOYOTA DEALER WHO WILL ARRANGE FOR VEHICLE PICKUP." BOTH TOYOTA AND THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP ARE REFUSING TO DO THE PICKUP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS UNDERGOING ROUTINE MAINTENACNE, THE TECHNICIAN NOTICED THAT THE FRAME WAS COMPLETELY CORRODED AND DEEMED IT UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000. UPDATED 09/06/16*LJ
TOYOTA SENDS RECALL LETTERS TO MY OLD ADDRESS AND BLAMES YOU FOR THE ERROR. THEY HAVE THE CORRECT ADDRESS ON FILE BUT DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM ONLY PASS THE BUCK.
I TOOK MY 2004 TOYOTA TUNDRA TO A LOCAL SERVICE CENTER BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT NEEDED SHOCK ABSORBERS. ONCE ON THE LIFT WE FOUND THE ENTIRE REAR SECTION WAS COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT WITH SEVERAL MAJOR PARTS JUST HANGING FROM THE FRAME. TOYOTA CLAIMS THEY SENT RECALLS IN 2015 HOWEVER I DID NOT GET THEM. I DID RECEIVE A VERY RECENT RECALL FOR AN AIR BAG AND FRONT COIL SPRINGS, WITHIN A WEEK THE TRUCK WAS TAKEN IN FOR THE RECALL. AT NO TIME WAS I INFORMED OF THE DANGEROUS ISSUE OF THE REAR SUSPENSION. I CALLED TOYOTA TO DISCUSS THE MATTER AND WAS TOLD THEY WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING TO CORRECT THE PROBLEMS. I AM VERY LUCKY I DID NOT HAVE AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE THE REAR COMPONENTS COULD HAVE FAILED AT ANY TIME WHILE I WAS DRIVING. TOYOTA WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY RESPONSIBILITY AND THEY WERE QUITE RUDE WHEN WE SPOKE. PLEASE INFORM ME OF ANY RECOURSE I MAY HAVE, THE COST TO REPAIR MY TRUCK IS IN EXCESS OF $4,000. I AM RETIRED WITH A LIMITED INCOME AND DEPEND ON MY TRUCK TO PICKUP FARM SUPPLIES AT MY HOME. I LIVE IN MD AND RELY ON THE TRUCK WHEN IT SNOWS OR THE ROADS ARE ICY. TOYOTA CLEARLY HAS A PAST OF NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY, THEY KNEW OR SHOULD HAVE KNOWN THE QUALITY OF THE METAL MATERIALS WERE INFERIOR. THEY WAITED 11 YEARS BEFORE THEY RECALLED SOME OF THEIR TRUCKS. I DO NOT WISH TO BE RUDE HOWEVER, I FIRMLY BELIEVE TOYOTA HAS NO REGARD FOR THE QUALITY OF THEIR PRODUCT OR THE PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH THEIR POOR ENGINEERING. TAKATA RECALL I CALLED IN TO MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP ABOUT HAVING THE DEFECTIVE AIRBAG REPLACED AND IT HAS BEEN 3 WEEKS SINCE WE CALLED IN. THEY STILL HAVE YET TO CALL US BACK TO INFORM US THAT OUR PARTS HAVE COME AND WHEN WE CALL THEY JUST TELL US THAT THEY HAVE NOT RECEIVED THE PARTS FOR THE FIX. WORRIED ABOUT MY PASSENGERS SAFETY AND I HAVE NOT OTHER WAY OF TRANSPORTATION TO WAIT ANY LONGER FOR IT TO BE FIXED.
MY 2004 TUNDRA WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY AND I NOTICED ON LEFT SIDE BACK AND FRONT WHEN IT RAINED BIG RUST SPOTS APPEARED ON MY CEMENT.
UPON INSPECTION OF TRUCK FOR OIL LEAK, FOUND THAT RIGHT SIDE FRAME RAIL WAS SEVERLY RUSTED/ROTTED NEAR WHERE THE SWAY BAR MOUNT IS ATTACHED TO THE FRAME. BRACKET FOR SWAY BAR HAS SEPARATED FROM FRAME, AND MULTIPLE HOLES (FROM CORROSION) EXIST ON THE BOTTOM OF THE FRAME RAILS. I TOOK TRUCK TO DEALER WHO INFORMED ME THAT THE "LIMITED SERVICE CAMPAIGN" EXPIRED JULY 31, 2015, AND THAT MY TRUCK WAS COVERED, BUT THE PREVIOUS OWNER NEVER TOOK IT IN FOR INSPECTION. CALLED TOYOTA CORPORATE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS ESCALATED TO SPECIALIZED CASE MANAGER. I GAVE THEM THE HISTORY OF THE TRUCK, THAT I BOUGHT IT IN OCTOBER 2015, AND THAT IT WAS DEALER SERVCIED IN 2013 AND 2014 - BUT THE DEALER NEVER CHECKED THE FRAME.TOYOTA HAS DENIED THE CLAIM SAYING THEY WILL TAKE NO FURTHER ACTION - EVEN THOUGH THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE, AND NOW A SAFETY CONCERN.
I TOOK MY 2004 TOYOTA TUNDRA TO A TOYOTA DEALER IN VERMONT DUE TO THE FRAME RECALL LETTER FROM TOYOTA WHERE THE FRAME WOULD BE CHECKED AND EITHER REPLACED OR UNDERCOATED. THE TOYOTA DEALER DETERMINED IT ONLY NEEDED TO BE UNDERCOATED. THE TRUCK WAS UNDERCOATED ON JUNE 25TH 2015. I JUST HAD MY TRUCK LOOKED AT BY AN INDEPENDENT GARAGE DUE TO A FRONT END ISSUE AND THEY ASKED ME TO COME LOOK AT THE TRUCK ON THE LIFT AND THEY SHOWED ME WHERE ON THE REAR PART OF THE FRAME IT WAS SEPARATING. HOW CAN THIS BE POSSIBLE? THAT APPROXIMATELY 9 MONTHS AFTER THE FRAME WAS DIAGNOSED BY A TOYOTA DEALER TO ONLY NEED AN UNDERCOATING THAT MY TRUCK FRAME IS NOW SEPARATING AND WILL LIKELY NOT HOLD UP FOR ANOTHER YEAR PER THE MECHANIC AT THE GARAGE.
FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG INFLATOR MODULE CONTACTED "AUTOMATION TOYOTA SCION ARAPAHOE", 10531 EAST ARAPAHOE ROAD, CENTENNIAL, CO 80112, SERVICE DEPARTMENT (303) 792-1131. MULTIPLE TIMES (FIRST TIME IN DECEMBER 2015, LAST TIME IN FEBRUARY 15, 2016 TO SCHEDULE THE RECALL SERVICE (FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG INFLATOR MODULE REPLACEMENT). ALWAYS PROMISED TO ORDER PARTS FOR ME AND CALL ME WITHIN 2 WEEKS. NEVER HAVE HEARD BACK FROM THEM, TOTALLY IGNORED. TODAY IS APRIL 22, 2016, DRIVING HIGHLY UNSAFE VEHICLE.......UPDATED 05-12-16 *BF
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2004 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHILE THE CONTACT'S WIFE WAS DRIVING 40 MPH, SHE WAS STRUCK HEAD-ON BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE SPINE, STERNUM, AND RIBS. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED AND THE DRIVER WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED FROM THE SCENE AND THE CONTACT'S INSURANCE COMPANY CONFIRMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THEIR LEGAL DEPARTMENT. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V286000 (AIR BAGS). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.

THE FAILURE OCCURRED AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO BE SERVICED FOR CORROSION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 134,203.
EXCESSIVE RUST CORROSION ON FRAME RENDERING FAILURE OF STATE INSPECTION

THE PARTS NEEDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. FRAME ROTTED EVEN AFTER GETTING COATED BY DEALERSHIP. I REPORTED TO TOYOTA THAT THE FRAME WAS FALLING APART. THEY TOLD ME THAT IS NORMAL WEAR & TEAR. THE FOLLOWING WEEK MY SPARE TIRE COMPLETELY ROTTED OFF CAUSING ME TO LOSE CONTROL AS I CAME OFF HIGHWAY. THANK GOD I ONLY ENDED UP RUNNING OFF THE ROAD. I HAVE A 2003 HIGHLANDER WITH 180000 MILES STILL IN GREAT SHAPE. THIS IS NOT NORMAL WEAR & TEAR, IT IS DANGEROUS & TOYOTA SHOULD TAKE CARE OF THIS. THEY NEW 2 YEARS AGO THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE FRAMES & TOLD US THAT THEY WOULD REPLACE THE FRAME IF NECESSARY BUT DID NOT DO WHAT THEY PROMISED.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRAME OF THE VEHICLE AND THE SPARE TIRE HOUSING WERE CORRODED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000. I WAS DRIVING DOWN A SOMEWHAT BUSY 2-LANE ROAD LAST WEEK, GOING APPROXIMATELY 40MPH ON MY WAY TO WORK IN THE MORNING. I HEARD AND FELT A LOUD THUD, AND LOOKED IN MY REARVIEW MIRROR AND SAW A TIRE IN THE ROAD BEHIND ME AND THE CARS BEHIND ME WERE SWERVING TO AVOID IT. I THOUGHT I MIGHT HAVE DRIVEN OVER THE TIRE, AND WONDERED HOW I DIDN'T NOTICE IT IN THE ROAD. WHEN I CAME TO THE STOPLIGHT AT THE NEXT INTERSECTION A LITTLE WAYS DOWN THE ROAD, THE CAR THAT HAD BEEN DRIVING DIRECTLY BEHIND ME PULLED UP BESIDE ME, AND THE DRIVER TOLD ME IT WAS MY SPARE TIRE THAT HAD FALLEN DOWN FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY TRUCK THAT WAS NOW SITTING IN THE ROAD BACK THERE. LUCKILY, NO ONE HAD BEEN INJURED, AND ALL THE CARS HAD BEEN ABLE TO AVOID HITTING IT. AFTER RETRIEVING MY TIRE FROM THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, I NOTICED THE METAL PART OF THE SPARE TIRE HOIST THAT HOLDS THE TIRE TO THE LIFT CABLE SITTING A FEW FEET AWAY IN THE ROAD. THAT METAL PIECE WAS COVERED IN RUST, AND THE MIDDLE PART OF IT WAS COMPLETELY GONE, HAVING GIVEN WAY WHEN THE TIRE FELL OFF. I DID A QUICK SEARCH ONLINE, AND THERE ARE COUNTLESS REPORTS OF OTHER TUNDRA AND TACOMA OWNERS EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. MY TUNDRA USED TO BE OPERATED IN THE NORTHEAST BY A PREVIOUS OWNER, AND WAS PART OF THE FRAME RECALL EARLIER THIS YEAR FOR HIGHER THAN NORMAL RUST CORROSION ON THE FRAME. IT WARRANTED A COMPLETE FRAME REPLACEMENT THAT WAS COMPLETED IN JULY 2015. NOT SURE WHY THIS PART WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THAT REPLACEMENT, SINCE IT WAS CERTAINLY CORRODED AS WELL! THANKFULLY, NO ONE DRIVING BEHIND ME WHEN THE TIRE FELL OFF HAD BEEN INJURED BY HITTING THE TIRE, BUT IMAGINE IF ONE OF THOSE DRIVERS HAD NOT BEEN FULLY AWAKE THAT MORNING!
EXCESSIVE FRAME RUST CAUSING FAILURE TO PASS STATE INSPECTION.
FRAME ROT AND RUST. THE GAS TANK FELL OUT FROM UNDER THE TRUCK WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD (CITY STREET), THE BRACKETS HOLDING THE TANK COMPLETELY RUSTED IN TWO. THIS HAPPEN AFTER THE FRAME PROTECT SPRAY WAS APPLIED TO THE TRUCK BY THE DEALER 2 YEARS AGO. THE FRAME IS A MESS, I'M WORRIED ABOUT DRIVING THIS TRUCK BECAUSE OF IT BUT I ALSO CAN'T TRADE IT IN BECAUSE NO ONE WANTS IT. I'M HAPPY TO SEND PICTURES IF NEEDED.

TOYOTA HAS A RECALL FOR EXCESSIVE RUST AND THEY DID UNDERCOAT MY TRUCK. YESTERDAY WHEN I PULLED INTO MY DRIVEWAY I HEARD A SQUEALING SOUND FROM UNDER THE HOOD. I CHECKED AND FOUND MY POWER STEERING FLUID WAS LOW. I LOOKED UNDER THE TRUCK AND SAW A PUDDLE. FURTHER INVESTIGATION SHOWED THAT THE STEERING RACK HAS RUSTED THROUGH AND POWER STEERING FLUID STREAMS OUT WHEN YOU TURN THE STEERING WHEEL.

HIGH PITCH SOUND WHEN I GO TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. POWER STEERING FLUID RESERVOIR EMPTY. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THE RACK AND PINION IS NO GOOD AND HAS TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $1900.00. THE ISSUE I HAVE IS, I HAVE A CO-WORKER WHO BOUGHT THE SAME TRUCK I DID, IN THE SAME MONTH I DID. HIS HAS 145,000 MILES AND HIS RACK AND PINION WENT OUT TWO WEEKS AGO. LESS THAN 10,000 MILES BETWEEN THESE INCIDENTS IS QUITE A COINCIDENCE.

WHEN I TOOK THIS TO TOYOTA THEY STATED THAT MY RECALL HAD EXPIRED ONE MONTH PRIOR IN AUGUST 2015. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. THEY KNOW THEY HAVE ISSUES WITH THE FRAMES ON THE TRUCKS RUSTING. THE TOYOTA TACOMAS FIRST NOW THE TUNDRAS. THIS IS MY ONLY VEHICLE AND TOYOTA IS REFUSING TO REPAIR THE FRAME.

ANYTIME IT RAINS WATER LEAKS IN BEHIND THE DASHBOARD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, LEAKING WATER THROUGH THE ELECTRICAL WIRING AND INTO THE FLOORBOARD OF THE TRUCK THERE ARE LOTS OF WIRES AND A BLOWER MOTOR IN THIS AREA WHERE FIRE COULD CAUSE ANY NUMBER OF UNSAFE CONDITIONS. THE CAUSE HAS BEEN NARROWED DOWN TO ONE OR BOTH OF TWO THINGS. THE FIRST IS A CRACK THAT ORIGINATES IN THE SEAM BEHIND THE DASH BOARD OF THESE VEHICLES DUE TO PRODUCTION ERROR. THE SECOND IS ROTTING GROMMET PLUGS UNDER THE WINDSHIELD WIPER COWL. THE FIRST BEING MUCH MORE SEVERE AS IT COULD ALSO CAUSE STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY.

I HAVE CONTACTED TOYOTA SEVERAL TIME TO FIND OUT WHEN THE AIRBAG CAN BE REPLACED. I WAS TOLD THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHEN THE PART WILL ARRIVE AND NO IDEA WHEN MY CAR CAN BE REPAIRED. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. I USE MY TRUCK FOR BUSINESS AND IS CURRENTLY LOSING MONEY BECAUSE I CAN NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE. I INFORMED TOYOTA OF THIS ISSUE AND WAS NOT GIVEN PRIORITY OR ANY CONSIDERATION FOR MY INCONVENIENCE. THE ENTIRE FRAME AND UNDER SIDE OF THE TRUCK TO INCLUDE BRACKETS, CABLES, FITTINGS, AND EXHAUST ARE SO RUSTED AND FLAKING OFF THAT I'M CONCERNED THAT THE TRUCK MAY BREAK APART DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. I BOUGHT THE TRUCK USED FROM LOWE TOYOTA IN WARNER ROBINS, GA AND HAD NO IDEA THAT THE TRUCK WAS A RUSTED OUT DISASTER WAITING FOR A PLACE TO HAPPEN !!
