MY BLINKER LIGHTS DON'T WORK PROPERLY. WHEN I PUT THE TURN SIGNAL THEY WILL BLINK A FEW TIME AND THEN GO OFF. I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL VW DEALER AND A MECHANIC RECOMMENDED THAT I REPLACE ALL FOUR TURN SIGNAL LIGHTBULB. I DID AND STILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM.*AK PLEASE HAVE VW LOOK INTO THIS AS GENERAL MOTORS JUST HAD A RECALL FOR A FAULTY TURN SIGNAL RELATED ISSUES.
2001 VR6 IGNITION COIL FAILURE, HAD PART REPLACED TODAY FOR $550, MADE IT 1/4 MILE DOWN THE ROAD, LITERALLY TO THE FIRST STOP SIGN AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN, MISFIRING, LOSS OF POWER, CEL LIGHT CAME BACK ON, I AM DRIVING A LOANER RIGHT NOW. *NLM
MY BLINKERS STOPPED WORKING IN AUGUST 2002. DEALER REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY. JANUARY 2003 CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. CAR OFF WARRANTY; TURBO CUT OFF VALVE REPLACED AND COOLANT TEMP SENSOR. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON A COUPLE WEEKS LATER. TOOK GTI TO DEALER AGAIN. DEALER REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP RELAY. NOW, 3 DAYS LATER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. *NLM
SINCE CAR WAS BOUGHT IN 2001 MIL LIGHT HAS BEEN COMING ON IN RAINING CONDITIONS. VW SAID IT WAS THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND REPLACED IN AT NO CHARGE IN MARCH OF 2003. SINCE REPLACEMENT LIGHT STILL COMES ON, AND IS NOW PERMANENTLY ON. WHEN CAR IS WET YOU CAN SEE SPARKS COMING FROM THE IGNITION COIL. THERE ARE NOTICEABLE CRACKS IN THE COIL HOUSING. *******EPA REFERENCE INFORMATION(IHTTP://WWW.EPA.GOV/OTAQ/CERT/RECALL/420B04018.PDF) *******EPA STATES THE FOLLOWING: CYLINDER IGNITION COIL FAILURE. TWO SEPARATE FAILURE MODES MAY EXIST WITHIN THE DEFECTIVE IGNITION COILS TESTED, (1)COIL HOUSING DAMAGE CAUSED DURING THE ASSEMBLY PROCESS AT THE APPLICABLE VW OR AUDI FACTORY, (2)COIL DESIGN SHORTCOMINGS BY THE SUPPLIER. *****************NOTE: THE 2002 GOLF GTI VR6 (ENGINE CLASS 2VWXV02.8224) AND THE 2001 EURO VAN VR6 (ENGINE CLASS 1VWXV02.8225)USE THE SAME IGNITION COILS AS MY CAR, THE 2001 GOLF GTI VR6 (ENGINE CLASS 1VWXV02.8224). PLEASE HELP TO INCLUDE MY CALL THE 2001 GOLF GTI (VR6). SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AFTER HITTING POT HOLE... NO DAMAGE TO EXTERIOR OF CAR TIRE WAS BUBBLED SLIGHTLY...
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON ABOUT EVERY MONTH. EACH TIME THERE IS A DIFFERENT REASON FOR IT COMING ON. IT''S BEEN REALLY ANNOYING DRIVING TO THE DEALER EVERY MONTH.
IGNITION COILPACK FAILURES IN FOUR CYLINDER 1.8 TURBO ENGINES. MODEL YEAR 01+, ENGINE CODE AWW. VW IS WELL AWARE OF THIS EPIDEMIC CONDITION AND IS NOT ISSUING A RECALL, NOR HAVE THEY COMMUNICATED ANYTHING TO THEIR COUSTOMERS. VW HAS NEW REDESIGNED PARTS BUT ARE IN SHORT SUPPLY SO VW IS ONLY REPLACING PARTS IN CARS THAT HAVE FAILED, AND THEN ONLY TO THE COILPACK THAT HAS FAILED NOT IN ALL FOUR. THIS IS UNNACEPTABLE. THEY ARE BASICALLY WAITING FOR EVERYONE THAT ONES A CAR WITH THAT ENGINE TO BREAK DOWN ON THE ROAD AND THEN ONLY REPLACE 1 OF THE 4 COILPACKS WITH THE NEW DESIGN. SO AFTER 3 MORE BREAKDOWNS AND ENDLESS DAYS WAITING FOR PARTS WILL YOUR CAR BE "TRUSTWORTHY" AGAIN.
THE IGNITION COIL FAILED. TS *JB
CERTIFIED PRE OWNED VW GOLF GLX VR6 2001, BOUGHT SEPT 2002 WITH 12K MILES. BEEN IN SERVICE AT LEAST 12 TIMES FOR STALLING, RELAY, CLICKING IN DASHBOARD, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. 3 YEARS STILL NOT FIXED, AND VW NOT ABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM. CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AS IT TENDS TO STALL (NOT TO A COMPLETE STOP) BUT ENGINE HESITATES WHILE DRIVING
THE COIL PACKS ON THE ENGINE HAVE FAILED ON ME TWICE. WAS GOING 65 DOWN A MAJOR HIGHWAY WHEN MY ENGINE POWER WAS REDUCED TO LESS THEN HALF AND BECOMING REAL ROUGH AND REAL JERKY. VW NEEDS TO REALIZE THAT THIS IS ALSO A SAFETY ISSUE AS WELL. IMAGINE ACCIDENTALLY PULLING OUT IN FRONT OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND HAVING MORE THAN ONE COIL PACK FAIL AND NOT BEING ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE WAY. I WOULD HATE TO SEE THAT HAPPEN TO EVEN ONE FAMILY. DT
MULTIPLE COILPACK PROBLEMS. 3 OUT OF 4 FAILED IN LESS THAN ONE YEAR OF OWNERSHIP. ONE COILPACK FELL APART IN MY HAND AS I REPLACED IT WITH AN AFTERMARKET PART. I PURCHASED AFTERMARKET REPLACEMENTS BECAUSE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO GET THE PART DUE TO OVERWHELMING FAILURES. THEY HAD 25 CARS ON THE LOT THAT WERE UNDRIVEABLE.
WHILE DRIVING AND WITH NO WARNING ELECTRIC TWO FRONT WINDOWS WILL FALL INTO WINDOW SEAL, AND WILL BE HARD TO GET BACK UP. DEALER NOTIFIED.*AK

WHILE DRIVING, POWER WINDOW ON DRIVER'S SIDE FELL DOWN INTO THE WINDOW SEAL WITH NO WARNING. *AK CONSUMER HAS TRIED CONTACTING THE DEALER FOR THE PARTS ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. AFTER SIX ATTEMPTS, THE DEALER CALLED CONSUMER TO INFORM THAT THE PARTS HAD COME IN. THE DEFECTIVE PARTS WERE REPLACED ON AUGUST 21, 2002. *JG
WINDOW REGULATOR FAILED, WINDOW DROPPED IN DOOR PANEL. *AK
A MOAN CAME FROM THE FLOOR BEHIND THE PEDALS AND A SMALL VIBRATION. *AK
STEERING IS HAVING PROBLEMS. WHEN TRYING TO CHANGE GEARS ON A TURN, VEHICLE LOCKS UP. HAD NO CONTROL OF VEHICLE AND IT RAN OFF THE ROAD. CONTACTED DEALER.*AK CONSUMER ALSO STATES THAT VEHICLE PULLS SHARPLY. *TT
MY INTAKE MANIFOLD CHANGE OVER VALVE ARE RATTLING. ALTHOUGH I HAVE A 10 YR "DRIVE TRAIN" WARRANTY VW TOLD ME THAT THE MANIFOLD IS COVERED IN THE WARRANTY BUT THE "INSIDE COMPONENTS" ARE NOT. EVEN WORSE THE VW MECHANIC SAID THAT "THIS IS COMMON WITH THE VR6 ENGINES." THIS SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO HAPPEN. *NM
THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THAT MY PASSENGER WINDOW HAS FALLEN INTO THE DOOR. PLEASE COULD YOU PUT PRESSURE TO BEAR ON VOLKSWAGEN TO RECTIFY THIS ANNOYING AND POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS PROBLEM. *AK
AIR BAG SENSOR LIGHT STAYED ON. VEHICLE BEEN INTO DEALER ON TWO OCCASIONS, AND PROBLEM STILL REOCCURRING. *AK THE FOG LIGHT BURN OUT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS NEW. ALSO, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WERE DEFECTIVE. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON REPEATDLY AND FUSE PANEL REPLACED. FUEL PUMP RELAY REPLACED . *YH
DUE TO THE "AIRBAG" SYMBOLS DISPLAYED ON THE A- AND B-PILLARS OF MY CAR, I AND MY DEALER ASSUMED THAT CURTAIN AIRBAGS WERE INSTALLED. THE MONRONEY STICKER LISTED ONLY FRONT AND SIDE AIRBAGS. VOLKSWAGEN CUSTOMER SERVICE INFORMED ME THAT CURTAIN AIRBAGS WERE A RUNNING CHANGE DURING THE MODEL YEAR AND THAT MY VEHICLE DID NOT HAVE CURTAIN AIRBAGS BASED ON ITS DATE OF MANUFACTURE, DESPITE THE "AIRBAG" SYMBOLS INDICATING THAT CURTAIN AIRBAGS WERE INSTALLED (CURTAIN AIRBAG INSTALLATION BEGAN IN MARCH, 2001, WHILE MY VEHICLE WAS ASSEMBLED IN FEBRUARY, 2001). THE VW CUSTOMER SERVICE OPERATOR WAS UNCONCERNED AND SUGGESTED THAT I CONTACT MY LOCAL DEALER IF I WAS DISSATISFIED. MY LOCAL DEALER SUBSEQUENTLY "CONFIRMED" THE INSTALLATION OF CURTAIN AIRBAGS THROUGH THE VEHICLE COMPUTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. WHILE I HAVE CHOSEN TO RELY ON MY LOCAL DEALER'S INFORMATION RATHER THAN INFORMATION PROVIDED BY VOLKSWAGEN'S CORPORATE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THE MONRONEY STICKER, I AM TROUBLED BY VOLKSWAGEN'S INEPTITUDE AND LACK OF CONCERN IN PROVIDING INFORMATION ON A CRITICAL SAFETY SYSTEM. MOST TROUBLING, VOLKSWAGEN CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS UNCONCERNED THAT THE VEHICLE INTERIOR TRIM BADGING INDICATED INSTALLATION OF CURTAIN AIRBAGS WHERE THEIR RECORDS SHOWED THAT NONE WERE INSTALLED. OF LESSER CONCERN TO ME IS THAT THE MONRONEY STICKER OMITTED AN IMPORTANT SAFETY FEATURE. AT LEAST I THINK IT DID. IF I'M EVER UNFORTUNATE ENOUGH TO RESOLVE THE DEBATE BETWEEN MY LOCAL DEALER AND VOLKSWAGEN EXPERIMENTALLY AND FIND THAT NO CURTAIN AIRBAGS ARE IN FACT INSTALLED IN MY CAR, I OR MY HEIRS WILL BE CONTACTING YOU AGAIN.*AK
VEHICLE FUSE CARD CONTAINS 44 PICTURE SYMBOLS WITH NO WORDS, A FEW SYMBOLS BEING OBVIOUS (HORN, SIGNALS), MOST SYMBOLS BEING INDECIPHERABLE (5 IDENTICAL ENGINE BLOCKS WITH A LIGHTENING BOLT; 11 IDENTICAL SYMBOLS WHICH MAY BE SEATBELTS, BOOKS OR TOILET PAPER; AND BRAKE SHOES WITH A TURBINE INSIDE). THE OWNER'S MANUAL ENCOURAGES YOU TO CARRY EXTRA FUSES, USE THE HANDY FUSE REMOVAL TOOL INSTALLED IN THE FUSE BOX COVER, AND REFERS YOU TO THE FUSE CARD FOR IDENTIFICATION OF CIRCUITS. WHEN MY CRUISE CONTROL FAILED, I WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE IF A FUSE MIGHT BE INVOLVED. HAD A BLOWN FUSE AFFECTED THE ENGINE OR LIGHTS OR OTHER SAFETY SYSTEM, I WOULD HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. VOLKSWAGEN'S CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE INFORMED ME THAT NO ADDITIONAL INFORMATION WAS AVAILABLE (IN ANY LANGUAGE) THAT WOULD INTERPRET THE FUSE CARD SYMBOLS. MY DEALER WAS FAMILIAR WITH THE PROBLEM, BUT COULD PROVIDE NO ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. I BELIEVE THIS REPRESENTS A SIGNIFICANT, EASILY CORRECTABLE DEFECT, WHICH COULD PREVENT THE OWNER FROM RESTORING OPERATION OF CRITICAL VEHICLE SYSTEMS IN THE EVENT OF A FAILURE. I WOULD BE HAPPY TO PROVIDE A COPY OF THE FUSE CARD UPON YOUR REQUEST.*AK
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A SUDDEN LOSS OF ACCELERATION. THE DEALER DETERMINED ONE OF THE IGNITION COILS MUST BE REPLACED. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *NLM
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE'S HEATER CORE FAILED. AS A RESULT VEHICLE WAS HESITANT TO STALLING, THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND VEHICLE STARTED LOOSING POWER. THERE'S A RECALL FOR THE HEATER CORE 92V05000 BUT VIN # IS OUTSIDE THE REMEDY SCOPE, BECAUSE A DIFFERENT TYPE OF HEATER CORE WAS USED, PER THE MANUFACTURER. *PH
