AS I SLOW DOWN GETTING READY TO COME TO A COMPETE STOP. GOING FROM 3RD TO SECOND GEAR THE CARS GEAR INDICATOR STILL SAYS THAT I AM IN 3RD WHEN PHYSICAL THE GEAR MODULE IS IN THE SECOND POSITION THE MINUTE THE VEHICLE COMES A COMPLETE STOP EVEN IN MUTUAL. THE CAR ENGINE WILL JUST SHUT OFF. ISSUE CONSISTENT WHEN CAR ELECTRIC COMPONENTS THINKS THE CAR IS IN A PARTICULAR GEAR THAN WHAT'S ACTUALLY HAPPENING.
WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS AND COMING TO A STOP, THE ENGINE MAY SPUTTER AS IF IT ISN'T GETTING THE CORRECT AIR/FUEL MIXTURE AND SHUTS OFF. THIS IS AN S TRIM VOLKSWAGEN GTI WITH A MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND DRIVER ASSISTANCE PACKAGE. THE INCIDENT(S) OCCURRED WHILE IN NEUTRAL ON THE THREE OCCASIONS IT HAS HAPPENED. THE VEHICLE HAS 700 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE AN ENGINE/ELECTRICAL SYSTEM ISSUE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AUTO STOP/START FUNCTION WAS DISABLED. DIRITO BROTHERS WALNUT CREEK VOLKSWAGEN (2020 N MAIN ST, WALNUT CREEK, CA 94596, (925) 395-4981) WAS CONTACTED AND AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED WAS SCHEDULED. THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 250.

VOLKSWAGEN GROUP OF AMERICA INFORMED THE DEALER TO CEASE ALL REPAIRS ON THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 190710424. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50.

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FAILED TO DISPLAY THE CORRECT GEAR THAT WAS IN USE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000.
CAR WILL STALL EVERY OTHER DAY OR SO. MAY ALSO STALL TWICE IN ONE DAY. SEEMS TO BE MORE COMMON WHEN ITS WARMER OUT. IT STALLS IN NEUTRAL OR IN GEAR WITH CLUTCH DEPRESSED WHEN SLOWING DOWN TO A STOP. ALREADY HAD IT TO THE DEALER TWICE. STILL STALLS.
I HAVE BEEN DRIVING MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS FOR ALMOST 10 YEARS. I HAVE HAD THE CAR STALL ON ME THREE TIMES WHILE MOVING AT LOW SPEEDS WHILE IN FIRST GEAR, SPECIFICALLY WHEN PARKING AND WE STARTING TO MOVE AGAIN FROM A STOP AT A LIGHT. THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF ALMOST AS IF THE ENGINE'S START/STOP FEATURE ENGAGED, NOT LIKE A TYPICAL STALL. THE CAR IS BRAND NEW WITH 350 MILES AS OF TODAY WHEN IT HAPPENED FOR THE THIRD TIME.
SE (W/ EXPERIENCE PACKAGE), GREAT FALLS GREEN METALLIC, DSG IT HAS ONLY HAPPENED A COUPLE OF TIMES SO FAR AND I CAN'T REALLY REPLICATE IT BUT WHEN IT HAPPENED I COME TO A PRETTY NORMAL STOP, AND IT FEELS LIKE IT DOES THE AUTO START-STOP FUNCTION BUT THE CENTER CONSOLE WILL SAY "MANUAL RESTART REQUIRED" OR SOME SUCH THING. SURE ENOUGH ONCE I LET GO OF THE BREAK IT DOESN'T START BACK UP. I HAVE TO PUT IT IN PART AND START IT LIKE NORMAL. SO THE CAR JUST KIND OF STALLS RANDOMLY WHEN STOPPING.JUST NORMAL STOPS TOO. ALSO, EVERY SO OFTEN INSTEAD OF STALLING IT WILL KIND OF STUTTER TO A STOP. LIKE YOU'RE QUICKLY TAPPING ON THE BREAKS OR IT'S JUST HAVING TROUBLE TRYING TO STOP SMOOTHLY.
CAR STALLS WHEN COMING TO A STOP WITH FOOT IN CLUTCH. ALSO, IF YOU SHIFT FROM NEUTRAL TO FIRST, STILL WITH FOOT IN CLUTCH FULLY, IT WILL SOMETIMES STALL. THE RANDOM STALLING IS NOT CAUSE BY THE USER BECAUSE THE CLUTCH IS 100% DEPRESSED, YET THE CAR STILL SILENTLY STALLS. ALONG WITH THIS, THE SHIFT INDICATOR IS NOT ALWAYS ACCURATE, SOMETIMES I MAY BE IN 3RD, YET IT DISPLAYS THAT I AM IN 4TH.
I WAS FULLY STOPPED AT A MAJOR INTERSECTION DURING RUSH HOUR IN LOS ANGELES (SANTA MONICA BLVD AND SEPULVEDA). THE AUTO STOP/START FEATURED WAS ON, SO MY ENGINE HAD FLIPPED OFF. WHEN I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE THE ENGINE IS SUPPOSED TO RE-ENGAGE, BUT INSTEAD MY CAR STALLED (RESULTING IN THE VERY UPSET BMW DRIVER BEHIND ME NEARLY PLOWING INTO MY CAR) AND WON'T MOVE. THE EPK LIGHT AND SOME WARNING POPPED UP ON THE SCREEN, BUT I WAS TOO DISTRACTED BY NOT GETTING KILLED THAT I DIDN'T CATCH WHAT IT SAID. I HAD TO TURN MY CAR FULLY OFF AND THEN BACK ON AGAIN TO GET MY ENGINE TO RESTART. I THEN TOOK MY CAR TO THE VW DEALER IN SANTA MONICA. THEY TOOK NEARLY TWO WEEKS AND 150 MILES OF TEST DRIVES TO TRY TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE BUT COULDN'T SO THEY REPLACED THE STARTER. MY EPK LIGHT STILL REGULARLY COMES ON WHEN I START MY CAR, AND I THEN HAVE TO TURN IT OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN TO GET MY CAR TO START, AND OFF HESITATES FLIPPING OVER IN THE AUTO STOP/START STATES. PLEASE NOTE I AM THE FIRST OWNER OF MY CAR, AND I HAD ONLY HAD MY CAR FOR ABOUT 6 WEEKS AT THE TIME OF THIS INCIDENT.
WHEN COMING TO A STOP THE VEHICLE STALLS OUT. MANUAL TRANSMISSION, CLUTCH FULLY DEPRESSED AND THE CAR STALLS. CAR ALSO STALLS ON RESTART OF THE ENGINE. DEALER HAS NOT FOUND A CAUSE.
