While driving my foot will regularly get lodged/wedged below a piece of plastic trim adjacent to the accelerator. This delays or sometimes prevents me from easily letting up on the accelerator. While it can be dislodged with a little effort it requires me to completely reorient my foot. This is especially noticeable during "one pedal driving" where your foot does not need to be moved to the brake to decelerate. It does cause a delay in deceleration if only momentarily but requires effort and is at the very least distracting. Or in the worst case scenario it could delay deceleration long enough to cause an incident. The plastic trim protrudes about 1/4". The trim sits over a "carpeted" liner. This liner has no solid backing and can be pushed in and away from the accelerator leaving an even larger "lip" to overcome. This may not happen with all drivers but certainly with drivers that have larger feet or hold their feet in certain positions. Normal "single pedal driving" requires only very small adjustments in foot position. I believe this should be looked into.
The contact owns a 2021 Volkswagen ID.4. The contact stated while driving at approximately 35 MPH, the "Travel Assist" and the "Forward Collision Avoidance" system warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that while drifting into the lane in the past there was a vibration in the steering wheel to alert the driver. The contact stated that the steering wheel no longer vibrated while the warning light was illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that the front passenger’s side occupant air bag sensor warning was displayed and stated that the sensor was off, with an occupant seated in the seat. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer who diagnosed the failure with the Forward Collision Avoidance and the Travel Assist and a software update was performed. The contact stated that for the passenger’s side air bag sensor to be diagnosed, the dealer needed to remove the seat to determine the cause of the failure. The seat sensor was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure of the Forward Collision Avoidance and the travel assist had reoccurred. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.
I have been trying to get access to this recall and Volkswagen is not helping. The local dealer did not have the capability but also would not arrange for it's shipment to the closest facility with the ability. It is electric and there are inadequate chargers to take it long distances for this recall, plus it would interfere with taking care of my work and family. The facility in Chattanooga I have contacted multiple times but they never call me back to schedule the fix. I made an online appointment several hours away in Nashville since weeks have gone by without word from Chattanooga, but doubt the car will be able to make it that far if there are ANY traffic issues getting there.

The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
The front right tires at around 5k miles both have significant deterioration like I've never seen. It is not simply worn, but rather chunks of tread are missing from the tires. I am concerned that the tires will fail and cause an accident for myself and anyone else on the street. The dealership simply says this is how it is with Electric Vehicles. I am told not to worry about it and they will last, but I will attach some photos of the front tire as well as the rear, which is normal. Supposedly, this is not an alignment issue and is just an issue with EVs in general because of their weight? It is causing great concern for traveling on the freeway at high speeds.

After replacing rear tire on this vehicle, (due to a flat tire). The traction control system malfunctions. The TCS turns on, on the slightest of turns, when the TCS turns on it reduces power the wheels. So therefore while driving and turning the TCS will reduce power, causing vehicle to slow in turns. Possible setting up driver for a rear end collision. This has happened to me directly, filed complaints with the manufacturer had vehicle there, told to replace all four. Did that and issue was reduced however not resolved.

On July 3, 2021 -- we dropped the car off (an appointment we did in May 2023) to fix a safety software issue. The car did not have any warning lamps. We brought the car running, after a week they told us the car no longer is working and that the part is backordered until further notice (probably has no repair). We were not given a loaner and the other alternatives included taking money from our pockets. This is our only car and we commute. We are stuck. They left us with no car for something that we did not cause and are not willing to stop the car payments either.

VW issued a recall stating the following: Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2021 ID.4 vehicles. Software programing may cause the high voltage (HV) battery management control module to restart or the pulse inverter to deactivate. Recall consequence: A reset or deactivation may cause a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash. Recall action: Dealers will update the HV battery management control unit and the pulse inverter control unit software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed March 31, 2023. Owners may contact Volkswagen's customer service at 1-800-893-5298. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 97ZZ. Since the notification in March, no dealer in the DC area has been certified to make the repair, and as of June 12, 2023, no shop in America is able to repair the issue due to a lack of parts.
I have purchased a set of Bridgestone Alenza AS Ultra (P 235 / 55 R 19 105 W XL front, P 255 / 50 R 19 107 W XL back) in August 2022 for my 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 Pro S RWD EV. After only 12,000 miles, tire dry rot started showing up in June 2023 on all tires. The tires have a 80,000 miles warranty so I don't know how come they started to dry rot only after 12,000 miles. If the tires fail while driving, this can be a severe safety hazard as the vehicle may lose control shall the tires fail.

Instrument cluster returned error "warnings and information not available. Drive with greater care!" While vehicle was in motion. Issue resulted in loss of speedometer and other systeam safety features including blind spot monitoring, lane assist etc. Loss of speedometer while in motion was of the largest concern. The car produces audible alerts for errors such as low tire pressure or low wiper fluid, but this critical error did not.
I was notified that there were three safety recalls on my 2021 Volkswagon ID4, including one involving the battery and a risk of fire. The recalls were: 55N-1, 97ZZ, 93P7. I brought the car in for service at the Volkwagon service center in White Plains New York ("White Plains Volkswagon" service center at 410 Saw Mill River Rd, Elmsford, NY 10523) and was told they would address the issues. Three days later, the service center called to say that they were only able to address the 55N-1 issue and didn't have labor available to address the others and that we would have to take our car back. They also said they were unwilling to pay for a rental car or give us a loaner beyond the three days that already passed. We're on a waiting list to address the other safety recall issues but, in the meantime, I feel unsafe driving the car and I don't know why VW couldn't address the issues while the car was in their possession.
On Thursday, May 25th, 2023, I got in my vehicle, turned on the ignition, and a yellow warning message came on the instrument cluster, "SOS Error: Emergency Call Function! Service Vehicle." The error remained in the vehicle even after turning it off and on again multiple times. The status light for the Emergency Call function also turned red and was no longer available.
I have made multiple appointments at WINN VW of Woodland Hills, CA to have these recalls repaired (57J5, 97ZZ) only to have the dealership cancel the appointments both times. I called Galpin VW of Van Nuys, CA and was told flat out that they would not schedule my vehicle for repairs. I was last given an appointment of January 8th, 2024 by Santa Monica VW of Santa Monica CA. I believe that VW is acting with gross negligence and not making a good faith effort to have these recalls repaired in a reasonable timeframe and is therefore putting me and my family lives and safety in danger.
On 5/10/2023 I got into the vehicle, started, put it in Drive, and noticed the FRONT PASSENGER DOOR was showing ajar in the instrument cluster. I grabbed the door and confirmed it had become unlatched and had to close it again. On 5/16/2023 I again was in the vehicle, in drive, but not moving when the FRONT PASSENGER DOOR opened on its own with no occupant. I reached over and closed the door, but the door locks became inoperative for several minutes.

The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.
Manufacturer and dealership in my area have been unable to schedule me for getting Safety Recall for High Voltage Battery Management Control Module Software (97ZZ) done to my vehicle. I have been in the waitlist for dealership to do this recall since May 2023. Several times the dealership has said that the battery modules are backordered with no ETA.
There is an open safety recall for the HV battery that is unable to be fixed in a reasonable time. My local dealer can't fix because they don't have a HV technician and when I called another I was told I can't get it fixed until April, 2024. How can a vehicle manufacturer sell cars that it cannot fix because there are not enough technicians especially with safety issues. Why can they continue to sell cars they cannot fix in a timely manner. I am stuck with the car because not many people want to buy a car with an open safety recall that cannot be fixed in a reasonable time. What are my rights?

Yesterday, April 26th, 2023 the above vehicle was involved in a serious accident, possibly related to the safety recall for the high voltage cell module. My wife was driving the vehicle on her way to work, as she did for the past 2 years. Sometimes she gets coffee for herself and a coworker, so that day she turned into a parking lot of the last MacDonalds before her job. She pulled up to the drive thru lane as she did many times before. She was not distracted by the phone, and her radio was turned off. There was nobody else in her vehicle, and her thought was on the coffee order. As she was pulling up to the 2 vehicles in front of her, something horrible happened in the next 3 or 4 seconds. Her vehicle accelerated suddenly, hit the car in front of her, bounced off to the right, and kept accelerating for the next 50 feet before hitting a semi truck with such a force that the front end of her vehicle is completely obliterated and the semi truck frame was broken. Thankfully, nobody got hurt seriously, and there was no fire. The first question from the Police officer was whether she hit the accelerator pedal by mistake. She responded that she did not hit the accelerator pedal, and does not understand what happened. She was shocked by the sudden fury of her vehicle, and stated that she was unable to stop it. I believe what she is saying, because there was no reason for her to stomp hard on either pedal as she was coasting slowly, and with the vehicle's regenerative braking you only have to tap the brakes gently. If she tapped the wrong pedal by mistake, the acceleration would not be so violent. To do what the vehicle did in such a short distance, the driver would have to stomp forcefully on the pedal and keep it floored all the time. There was no need to do that, and she never even attempted to do such violent acceleration anywhere. There is a real possibility that the vehicle did an unintended full force acceleration caused by defect in the recalled module. GEICO has it
The multiple recalls for this vehicle are not being completed in a timely manner. I have been trying to get the recall repairs completed for months without success. (Trying sense April) I am on a waiting list but the dealership has no idea when they can repair the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2021 Volkswagen ID.4. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V040000 (Electrical System) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. I contacted several local Volkswagen dealers regarding safety recall (Manufacturer Recall Number97ZZ, NHTSA Recall Number23V040) to get my vehicle repaired. None of them have parts associated with this repair and told me it will take more than a year to get them. I contacted VW customer service and they are unable to help resolve the issue. I am now forced to drive an unsafe car for more than a year. If VW cannot address this safety issue in a timely manner, I would like them to replace it with a safer vehicle without safety issues.
In April, 2023 I took my 2021 VW ID4 in for a recall service. At that time they discovered issues with the car’s high voltage battery. This has led to a continual vehicle warning that my electrical system is not functioning properly and needs service. I was also told that the estimated range of the car is undependable, making trips of any distance impossible. I have had two service repairs scheduled, both canceled. The dealer now tells me that whatever is necessary for the repair has been back ordered to December. This means that my car will not have been fully functioning for eight months.VW continues to build ID4s but cannot keep those already sold in good repair.

During a trip driving home 3/31/2023 at approximately 11:00pm, the car's software system failed. The console that displays the digital speedometer was affected on the car as well as the infotainment system. The message on the console displayed a message "Warnings and Information not available. Drive with greater care!" The digital speedometer displayed three dashes through the rest of the trip home. All of the car's features including lane correction were offline. This car's software is not functional enough for the car to be driven safely.

Passenger side door opened while driving at low speed. Also, both front doors do not open from the outside.
Feb 07,2023 Manufacturer Recall Number97ZZ NHTSA Recall Number23V040 Recall StatusRecall Incomplete, remedy not yet available This report came out over a month ago. I have to drive my car with the knowledge that it's basically unsafe. Volkswagen has been completely silent about this problem for far too long. I understand that Volkswagen is working on the problem but they do not communicate with owners other than make promises they don't keep. Now they are telling us that we will hear by March 31. Does the NHTSA have the authority to demand that Volkswagen take action? I'm afraid to take my car out of the garage when almost every day, I read that someone else has problems with their car. This isn't right.
I was attempting to trade in my Id.4 for a Tesla and found out that my car had a major safety recall from Tesla. The recall has been out since Feb and I was never notified from VW. I called the dealership and the manager said he never heard of the problem and offered no solution except there is nothing they can do. Now I have to drive myself and my family around in a car that could crash. There is no insight when a fix will happen.

My VW id4 2021 has been recalled for High Voltage battery issues. My local dealer, FLOW vw of Asheville NC cannot perform the work as they do not have a certified technician. The closest tech I can find is in Bristol TN. VW will only tow my car to the closest dealer, FLOW in Asheville. Should VW be responsible to get my car to a dealer that can perform this work? How can we make this happen? Thank you [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The contact owns a 2012 Volkswagen ID.4. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V040000 (Electrical System) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that while his wife was driving into the residential driveway at approximately 5 MPH, the vehicle lost electric power and shifted into park(P). The stop had been so abrupt that the vehicle was rocking. The contact stated that all the exterior lights flashed off and on. The contact stated that his wife restarted the vehicle and the vehicle resumed normal operation. The contact stated the failure had become recurring. The contact had the vehicle towed to a dealer, who could not duplicate the failure and wanted the contact to retrieve the vehicle. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The failure mileage was approximately 4,600. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
My vehicle was in Travel Assist mode (i.e. Adaptive Cruise Control) traveling at around 65 MPH. A vehicle has cut into my lane and I felt that the car wouldn't slow quick enough to avoid a collision. I have applied breaks effectively taking the vehicle into my control and taking the vehicle off Travel Assist mode. When driver takes over by applying the breaks in this scenario, irrespective of how hard the breaks are applied, vehicle suddenly moves faster than expected for first few seconds. I had to apply the break harder than I would have applied if I was driving the car in manual mode to get the car to slow down. The expectation was that the vehicle slows down while applying the breaks. This would have caused a collision if I was not quick to react. There were no warning lights or messages on the dashboard prior to or during this incident. This could be a software issue which probably is conflicting between the breaks travel assist is applying and the breaking that the driver is applying. This has happened multiple time to me and on date mentioned on this my wife had same experience confirming that this is in deed an issue that needs some investigating into before it cause any accident(s).
Blind spot warning system on both sides doesn't always work. Sometimes indicating a vehicle and sometimes not. Also, multiple computer software problems and the dealer doesn"t know when the other recalls can be fixed. Many ID 4's in line to be repaired.
The contact owns a 2021 Volkswagen ID.4. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V040000 (Electrical System) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated while driving 30 MPH, the vehicle stalled with several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact stated the front driver’s side door latch opened independently. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, but the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 24,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
Driver's door keeps unlocking while driving. Swung open several times while driving. Also, sometimes difficult to unlock driver's door from the outside. All this seems to be be related to error messages concerning Auto Hold (which this vehicle does not have) and Travel Assist not being available. All this began after my first one year scheduled service on 2/17/23. Taking in vehicle on 3/10 concerning these problems. I had made an appointment for an earlier date, but cancelled it because everything went back to normal. The dealer said if the messages were not active, I would be wasting my time. I called the VW Customer Service Number and reported my concern on 2/24. I am not driving my vehicle as it is not safe if the driver's door opens while driving.
I received a safety recall letter from Volkswagen in May, 2022 that stated there is a problem with "Flexible Printed Circuit Solder for High-Voltage (HV) Battery". NHTSA Recall Number is 22V162, and Volkswagen Recall Number is 93O2. But since then I have not received further information on how and when it will be fixed. No update on this recall is given even if I contacted the Volkswagen Customer Care in Aug, 2022.
The contact owns a 2021 Volkswagen ID.4. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the 12V battery fault message was displayed. Additionally, the passenger's side rear door was inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, no failure was found. The vehicle was then taken to Emich Volkswagen of Boulder (2470 49th St, Boulder, CO 80301) where the 12V battery was replaced. The dealer determined that the passenger's side rear door needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000.
