I have had to have my vehicle serviced over 5 times within the last three months. There is a recurring sensor temps, Air bad error, radio not working properly, and front assist sensor light error. Everything I have had to take my vehicle to a service dealer, my wheel bearing need to be changed, my tire sensor needs to be changed, and my steering wheel is shaking. This is an urgent matter that needs to be taken care of
While driving at approximately 10 MPH, the message "Lane Assist Currently Not Available" was displayed and Lane Assist deselected in the system menu. Later, while parked, I re-enabled Lane Assist using the menu system. This problem, along with others, has been ongoing since 2019. Since 2019, Volkswagen have been unable or unwilling to correct any of the problems experienced with the vehicle.
While stopped at an intersection with no moving traffic, the Park Assist enabled itself warning extreme proximity to something on the left side of the vehicle. As with other faults, the Park Assist faults have occurred numerous times since 2019. The Lane Assist system unexpectedly disabled itself while driving less than five MPH on a slightly inclined driveway.
THE PASSAT AUTONOMOUS BRAKING SYSTEM ENGAGED WHILE DRIVING ON A DIVIDED FOUR-LANE STREET WITH NO TRAFFIC OR OBSTRUCTIONS. LANE ASSIST HAS REPEATEDLY DISABLED ITSELF. PARK ASSIST SENSORS HAVE REPEATEDLY DETECTED OBJECTS EXTREMELY CLOSE WHEN NOTHING IS PRESENT. THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS OTHER SYSTEM FAILURES. IN 2019, I FIRST REPORTED THE ISSUES TO A VOLKSWAGEN SERVICE CENTER FOR REPAIR. SINCE THAT TIME, THE VEHICLE HAS SPENT WEEKS IN SERVICE WITH VOLKSWAGEN INVOLVEMENT, WITH A REPORT OF NO ERRORS FOUND. THE FAULTS HAVE CONTINUED, SEEMINGLY AT RANDOM, SINCE 2019. I HAVE SUPPLIED VOLKSWAGEN WITH NOTES, PHOTOS, AND VIDEOS OF THE FAILURES VOLKSWAGEN NOT STATE THEY CANNOT ACCEPT PHOTO OR VIDEO DOCUMENTATION, NOT WILL THEY PAY FOR ANY REPAIR EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY UNTIL AUGUST 2020 AND NOT REPAIRED. I HAVE A LOT OF PHOTOS AND VIDEOS, AS WELL AS NOTES THAT I WOULD BE PLEASED TO FORWARD TO YOU.
THE DRIVER AIRBAG LIGHT WENT ON, THE WHOLE STEERING WHEEL CONTROL STOPPED WORKING AS SOON AS THIS LIGHT WENT ON. THE AGENCY ADVICES US THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE. THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS SAME ISSUE FOR THE CLOCK COIL I BELIEVE HE CALLED IT, AND I WANT TO VERIFY WHY MY VEHICLE IS EXPERIENCING THIS SAME ISSUE AND IS NOT ONE OF THE RECALLED MODELS? HOW DO YOU DETERMINE THAT ONLY CERTAIN MODELS WHERE AFFECTED, THIS YOU USE DIFFERENT COILS FOR DIFFERENT VEHICLES?
ALL THREE SENSORS CAME ON AT THE SAME TIME. AFTER HAVING THEM CHECKED, NO ISSUE WAS FOUND AND CODES WERE RESET. A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER, ALL THREE SENSORS SHOWED UP AGAIN. ALL OF THIS OCCURRED WHILE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THEN AGAIN IN MOTION.
RATTLE NOISES WHILE DRIVING ON ASPHALT ROADS FROM REAR OF VEHICLE UNDERNEATH CAR AND/OR FRONT. LOOSE BOLTS OR MISSING WELDS MAYBE. DEALER REPLACE FRONT SWAY BAR AND PROBLEM DID NOT GO AWAY SO WALLAS VOLKSWAGEN PUT THE ORIGINAL OEM PART BACK ON LAST MONTH AND DID NOT CHARGE US FOR THE SERVICE. THEY TOLD US IT'S UNKNOWN WHY THE RATTLING CONTINUED.
I HAVE A 2017 VW PASSAT SE. FRONT ASSIST BREAKS OR GETS READY TO BREAK (SHOWS THE BIG CAR SYMBOL ON DASHBOARD AND BEEPS) IN BAD WEATHER LIKE WHILE IT IS RAINY AND THERE ARE NO CARS AROUND ME. IT ALSO HAPPENED A FEW TIMES DURING SUNNY WEATHER. THE CAR SLAMMED THE BREAKS FOR NO REASON. THERE WAS NO CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I WAS GOING LIKE 40-45 MPH. I AM SUPER SCARED IT WILL BRAKE ONE DAY WHEN I AM GOING WITH 60+ ON THE HIGHWAY AND CAUSE A CRASH. A SAFETY SYSTEM THAT IS PURPOSE TO REDUCE THE ACCIDENT RISK OR IMPACT OF A CRASH SHOULD NOT BEHAVE DANGEROUSLY AND BECOME A POTATIAL ACCIDENT CAUSE.
ON 1/12/21 WHILE TURNING INTO A FAST FOOD RESTAURANT I HEARD CLICKING IN THE STEERING COLUMN AND THEN THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND ERROR CODES ACROSS THE DIGITAL SCREEN AND A CLOCK EMBLEM SIGNAL CAME ON. PULLED OVER AND LOOKED AT MY MANUAL. DROVE ON HOME AND DID RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THE CLOCK SPRING IS A MAJOR ISSUE WITH VWS. I WENT BACK OUT TO TEST THE STEERING COLUMN AND SURE ENOUGH THE HORN AND ALL CONTROLS ON THE COLUMN DID NOT WORK. CALLED THE LOCAL VW DEALER THE NEXT DAY. THEY SAID THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS 2017 PASSAT SEL MODEL. THEY REPLACED 6 DAYS LATER.
THIS PAST SUNDAY, MY SON WAS DRIVING ON 95 AND THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT WHEEL EXPLODED OFF THE CAR WHILE DRIVING. HE DID NOT HIT ANYTHING, NOR DID HE GET A FLAT TIRE. THE METAL HOLDING THE TIRE LITERALLY BROKE, THE WHEEL CAME OFF THE CAR CAUSING THE CAR TO DROP ON THE FRONT AXLE WHILE HE WAS DOING 65 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY.
WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING TO WORK AND GETTING READY TO GET ON THE INTERSTATE, A CAUTION LIGHT AND ALERT TONE SUDDENLY CAME ON. DISPLAY READ "FRONT ASSIST: NO SENSOR VIEW." NOTHING ELSE HAPPENED AND THE ALERT TURNED OFF AFTER A FEW MILES. THIS IS THE SYSTEM THAT AUTOMATICALLY APPLIES THE BRAKES IF IT SENSES A POSSIBLE COLLISION. IF THIS SYSTEM WAS TO FAIL, THE BRAKES COULD AUTOMATICALLY APPLY WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WITH POSSIBLE DISASTROUS RESULTS. MANY VW OWNERS HAVE COMPLAINED AND HAD THE SAME ISSUE. THERE IS CURRENTLY A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST VW (DACK, ET AL., V. VOLKSWAGEN GROUP OF AMERICA, INC., ET AL.) FOR THIS ISSUE AND VOLKSWAGEN'S FAILURE TO ADMIT THERE IS AN ISSUE OR ADDRESS IT.
WHEN TURNING THE WHEEL WHILE DRIVING, I HEARD A CLICKING SOUND FROM THE STEERING WHEEL. THEN THE AIRBAG LIGHT TURNED ON. NOW MY HORN DOES NOT WORK OR ANY OF THE CONTROLS ON THE STEERING WHEEL. I KNOW THIS IS THE CLOCK SPRING MALFUNCTION, WITH THE TAKATA AIRBAG MALFUNCTION THAT HAPPENED WITH THE 2015 PASSATS.
WHILE DRIVING ON A RURAL ROAD AT ABOUT 50 MPH A LOUD POP WAS HEARD AND THEN THE SUNROOF SHATTERED WITH GLASS FALLING INTO THE FRONT SEAT OF THE CAR. THE SUNROOF COVER WAS OPENED AT THE TIME.
MY CAR SHAKES AND BRAKES ARE REALLY TOUCHY DUE TO THE FORWARD ASSIST
AIRBAG LIGHT ON FOR DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG, HORN WILL NOT WORK, CRINKLE SOUND WHEN TURNING STEERING WHEEL. NO POWER TO STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE BRAKE ASSISTANCE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE BRAKING SYSTEM ENGAGED INDEPENDENTLY AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THERE WERE NO OBJECTS IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT VEER TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD, TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK AND THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JIM ELLIS VOLKSWAGEN ATLANTA (5901 PEACHTREE INDUSTRIAL BLVD, CHAMBLEE, GA 30341, (770) 458-6811) TO BE DIAGNOSED HOWEVER, THE TECHNICIAN PROVIDED NO INFORMATION TO THE CONTACT. THE VEHICLE REMAINED AT THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 35,000.
MULTIPLE DASHBOARD LIGHTS INDICATING ERRORS IN THE VEHICLE
MALFUNCTIONING DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT HEATER, BURNING HOLE IN SEAT
The emergency breaking incident first occurred on 8 December 2019 as I was entering the parking lot for my apartment complex. There were no obstacles. The second occurrence was reported to the NHTSA on 5 May 2021. The tracking number for the issue is 11415338. The vehicle has exhibited multiple faults with its electronics, including emergency breaking enabling for no apparent reason, lane assist randomly disabling itself (including driving and overnight while parked), parking sensors alerting extreme proximity when nothing it near the vehicle, Infotainment system (failed to move from VW display, locked up, failed to display rear camera with vehicle in reverse and other failures), the rear camera has failed to display and displayed a image "rolling" vertically, wing mirrors have failed to extend or extend after considerable delay, and other issues. All of these issues have been reported to Volkswagen and service has reported no problems. Additional information, photos, and video are available.
I have a 2017 Passat When it's raining hard on the road and my speed is greater than 55 mph the passenger side windshield stops right in front of my vision vision (right in the middle of the driver's side) creates a white blocking effect so I don't have a clear road visibility. In a service I discussed this detail with the service advisor at the VW agency and he did not want to understand or was misunderstood, I told him that the design of these windshields had this defect. On another occasion when I was driving in an area where there was snow the front collision alarm started to alarm for no reason, there was no obstruction, apparently one of the front sensors fails when it gets wet, I took the car to the dealer and reported this to the service advisor, they did a review of the car they said that it had nothing damaged that everything is fine. But when it rains really hard, it does this.
PARK DISTANCE CONTROL WITH NO VEHICLES CLOSE WILL AUTOMATICALLY OPERATE, THIS THEN LEADS TO THE AUTOMATIC BRAKING SYSTEM WANTING TO STOP THE CAR. THIS BOTHERS ME AT 70MPH WITH NO CARS WITHIN 500 FEET. *TR
WHILE DRIVING, I TURNED ON MY SEAT HEATER. IT NEVER CAME ON UPON EXITING THE VEHICLE I GRABBED MY PURSE WHICH WAS ON THE PASSENGER SEAT. IT WAS HOT. THE SEAT HEATERS ARE CROSSED.
THE AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING (AEB) 'FEATURE' IN MY 2017 VW PASSAT ENGAGED THIS MORNING AT APROX 10:30AM MST, WHEN ACCELERATING ONTO AN EMPTY STREET, AFTER TURNING WESTBOUND ONTO 8TH AVENUE, FROM NORTHBOUND COLORADO BOULEVARD IN DENVER, COLORADO. BASED ON THE TIME OF DAY, THERE'S NO WAY SUNLIGHT COULD BE A FACTOR AS I WAS HEADED WEST AND IT WAS WELL BEFORE NOON. THE CAR PASSENGERS AND I WERE ALL VERY STARTLED BY THE DASHBOARD LIGHTING UP AND THE BRAKES AUTOMATICALLY ENGAGING SO SUDDENLY AND SEVERELY, WITH NO ROAD OBSTRUCTIONS. THIS IS THE SECOND OCCURRENCE OF THE AEB FEATURE ENGAGING FOR NO APPARENT REASON, I DON'T RECALL THE FIRST TIME SPECIFICS, OTHER THAN THE SUN WAS BEHIND THE VEHICLE (IT WAS AFTER 4PM, AND I WAS HEADED EASTBOUND) I HAVE ZERO IDEA WHAT IS HAPPENING WITH MY VEHICLE AND THE AEB FEATURE ENGAGING WITHOUT ANY VISIBLE ROAD OBSTRUCTIONS THIS AND THE PREVIOUS TIME. NOTE, HE BRAKE PEDAL WAS NOT DEPRESSED/ENGAGED DURING EITHER OCCURRENCE. ALSO NOTE, THE AEB FEATURE HAS ENGAGED PREVIOUSLY, ACCURATELY, APPARENTLY AND REASONABLY FUNCTIONING AS DESIGNED.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY ON 10/8/2019 AND AT APPROXIMATELY 3:05PM I HEARD A LOUD GLASS EXPLOSION ABOVE ME. ONCE I ARRIVED AT MY DESTINATION, I OBSERVED THAT MY SUNROOF HAD SHATTERED. THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF ANYTHING HITTING THE SUN ROOF.
I drive 90 miles total daily, to and from work (45 mi each way). I currently have 87,050 miles on my vehicle. Shortly after my 36,000 mile warranty expired, I started experience issues with my infotainment system. Searching online I discovered many other owners with identical problems. The radio would freeze, where I could not change the preset tuning stations. I would have to hold the power button, (while driving on highway) for the infotainment system to reset. As time went on, I started experiencing "dead spots" on the touch screen. No matter what I do, areas where the "dead spots" are, is unusable. You cannot activate the function you need, where the "dead spots" are at. I contacted my local dealership, but they were no help. This has to be a known problem, and VW should repair or replace the infotainment system at their cost.

WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH WITH NO OTHER VEHICLES CLOSE TO THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE, THE AUTONOMOUS BRAKING SYSTEM ENGAGED AND THE VEHICLE BRAKED SUDDENLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,090.
EVER SINCE WE PURCHASED OUR PASSAT WE NOTICED ISSUES WITH ALIGNMENT AND UNEVEN BRAKING. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE WITH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF UNIVERSITY VOLKSWAGEN IN ALBUQUERQUE, WE LEARNED THAT OUR VEHICLE WOULD NEED THE ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS REPLACED AFTER 40,000 MILES. THE ROTORS WERE WARPED AND THE FRONT LEFT PAD WAS DOWN TO 1MM, WHILE THE FRONT RIGHT STILL HAD 4MM LEFT. WE WERE TOLD BY THE SERVICE CUSTOMER REPRESENTATIVE THAT VOLKSWAGEN USES A SOFTER METAL ON THE FRONT ROTORS SO IF THEY WERE VERY HOT AND THEN EXPOSED TO COLD WATER (LIKE GOING THROUGH A CARWASH) THEN THE ROTORS COULD GET WARPED. WE BELIEVE OUR VEHICLE ISSUE INVOLVED CALIPER BRACKET BOLT TIGHTNESS AND IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN RECALL #46H6.
MY 2017 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT BRAKES HAVE BEEN SQUEAKING FOR OVER A YEAR. EVERYTHING I WENT TO THE VOLKSWAGEN DEALERSHIP, THEY WOULD SAY MOISTURE BUILD UP WAS THE ISSUE. I TOLD THEM I DIDN'T UNDERSTAND BECAUSE I PARKED MY CAR IN A GARAGE. ADDITIONALLY, I HAVE HEARD OTHER NEWER VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT SQUEAK TOO SO IT HAS TO BE AN ISSUE BUT THEY NOT RECALLING EVERY CAR. FURTHERMORE, I JUST LEARNED THAT MY RIGHT FRONT BRAKE CALIPER NEEDS TO BE REPLACED ALONG WITH MY BRAKES AND PAD. NOW, I ASKED THEM WHAT THE ISSUE WAS AND THEY SAID THE CALIPER ISN'T OPENING WHICH I LOOKED UP COULD BE A CAUSE OF LEAKING BRAKE FLUID. I'M NOT SURE IF VOLKSWAGEN ACTUALLY RECALLED EVERY SINGLE CAR FROM 2017 THAT WAS AFFECTED BY THE FLUID LEAK. THE REPAIR MAN EVEN AT THE PLACE SAID THAT MY ISSUE UNUSUAL BECAUSE I ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR 2 YEARS. I CALLED OTHER VOLKSWAGEN SERVICES AND THEY WERE SURPRISED AS WELL. MOST OF THEM SAID ONLY 1 CALIPER THAT'S WEIRD. THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT I BELIEVE IS MORE PROMINENT THAN THE APPROPRIATE 1000 CARS OUT OF 60K OR MORE THEY SOLD IN THE US. I DON'T BELIEVE THEY USE ONE SUPPLIER/MANUFACTURER FOR AN APPROPRIATE 1000 CARS IN US. PEOPLE ARE SPENDING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO REPAIR A VEHICLE THAT VOLKSWAGEN IS RESPONSIBLE FOR. MY BRAKE CALIPER COULD HAVE LOCKED UP AT ANY MOMENT AND I COULD HAVE HARMED SOMEONE OR MYSELF.

SHEEHY VOLKSWAGEN OF SPRINGFIELD (6601 BACKLICK RD, SPRINGFIELD, VA 22150, (703) 544-2973) DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT BRAKE CALIPERS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
REAR BACKUP CAMERA IS USELESS WHEN IT'S RAINING, CAN'T SEE ANYTHING DUE TO THE WATER THAT COLLECTS ON THE REAR CAMERA. CAR IS NOT IN MOTION, IN A PARKING LOT
BLINDSPOT MONITORING SYSTEM ON LEFT SIDE OF CAR INTERMITTENT, CAPTURED INCIDENT ON VIDEO. WENT TO DEALER THREE TIMES FOR REPAIR, PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS. DEALER FALSIFIED REPAIR DOCUMENTATION ON ALL VISITS AND ADMITTED THE CAR WAS NOT TEST DRIVEN AS STATED ON THE INVOICE OF THE FIRST TWO VISITS. SENT DEMAND LETTER REQUESTING PERMANENT REPAIR TO VOLKSWAGEN, IT WAS RECEIVED ON 2JAN, RECEIVED NO REPLY. VOLKSWAGEN CORPORATE WILL NOT RETURN PHONE CALLS OR EMAILS. CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND AFTER THIS SYSTEM ALMOST CAUSED A HIGH SPEED ACCIDENT ON 6JAN I REFUSE TO DRIVE IT. I HAVE ALL OF MY DOCUMENTATION AND COMMUNICATION WITH VOLKSWAGEN CORPORATE, IT IS WAY TOO MUCH TO ATTACH TO THIS COMPLAINT. THE DEALER, GULF COAST AUTO GROUP, FALSIFIED DOCUMENTS AND MADE NO EFFORT TO FIX A SAFETY RELATED SYSTEM AND VOLKSWAGEN CORPORATE HAS SENT ME PAPERWORK OFFERING TO BUY THE CAR BACK BUT WILL NOT RESPOND AFTER SENDING ME THE BUYBACK PAPERWORK. THIS 'BUYBACK' OF THE CAR IS AN ATTEMPT BY VOLKSWAGEN CORPORATE TO HIDE THE FACT THAT THEIR DEALER CONTINUALLY JEOPARDIZED MY SAFETY. AND AFTER SENDING THE BUYBACK PAPERWORK THEY WILL NOT RESPOND TO EMAILS AND PHONE CALLS. I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT MY CAR SINCE 6JAN, AND IT WILL NOT BE DRIVEN BY ME EVER AGAIN. I WOULD APPRECIATE IT IF SOMEONE WOULD CONTACT ME REGARDING THIS MATTER SO I CAN SEND ALL OF MY DETAILED DOCUMENTATION FOR YOUR REVIEW.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL BANGING SOUND COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS NO WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SPIN OUT OF CONTROL AND CRASHED INTO A RETAINING WALL. THE VEHICLE SPUN BACK OUT INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO RICK CASE VOLKSWAGEN (LOCATED AT 3520 WESTON RD, WESTON, FL 33331, (954) 945-9367) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SUSPENSION SPRING DETACHED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,000. *TT*JB
ACCESS START MODULE FAILED. CAR REFUSED TO DETECT KEY FOB AND DASHBOARD WAS OFF WHEN ENTERING VEHICLE. COULD NOT PRESS ON BRAKE TO PUSH START IGNITION. CAR BATTERY WAS AT FULL 12-12 VDC. CHECKED FUSES AND NOTHING WAS BLOWN. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALER TO CHECK UP. TECHNICIAN WAS ABLE TO RESET ACCESS START MODULE BY DISCONNECTING BATTERY FOR 15 MINUTES. DEALER REPLACED FUEL RELAY FUSE AND ACCESS START MODULE. VEHICLE WAS DOWN FOR 4 DAYS. NEW MODULE HAD TO BE RE-PROGRAMMED FOR AT LEAST A DAY AND NEEDED ALL KEY FOBS TO BE RE-PROGRAMMED.
BOTH SIDE MIRRORS ARE AUTOMATIC. THE SIDE MIRRORS ARE SUPPOSED TO FOLD IN WHEN TURNING THE CAR OFF, AND FOLD OUT WHEN THE CAR IS ON. ONE OR BOTH OF THE MIRROS EITHER FAIL TO FOLD OUT WHEN THE CAR IS STARTED, OR FOLD IN UNEXPECTANTLY WHILE DRIVING. THIS CREATES A HIGHLY DANGEROUS LIFE AND SAFETY HAZARD WHEN IT HAPPENS. THE CAR HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP'S SHOP WHILE THE EVENT OCCURS, AND THE ISSUE DOES NOT RECORD AN ERROR CODE IN THE CAR'S SYSTEM. DUE TO THE LACK OF AN ERROR CODE, THE DEALERSHIP STATES THEY CANNOT FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE! I AM DRIVING A VEHICLE THAT IS DANGEROUS AND HAZARDOUS TO DRIVE AND VW IS IGNORING THE ISSUE BECAUSE IT IS NOT ISSUING AN ERROR CODE WHEN IT OCCURS. I HAVE PICTURES OF THIS OCCURRING ON MY CAR, I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WHEN IT IS OCCURRING. AND YET, THERE HAS BEEN NO SATISFACTORY SOLUTION AND FIX OF THIS VERY DANGEROUS FLAW BECAUSE THERE IS NO ERROR CODE. AC TAKES 5-20 MINUTES TO BLOW COLD AIR. MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS TO DEALER AND SERVICE DO NOT RESULT IN ANY ATTEMPT TO FIX PROBLEM BECAUSE BY THE TIME WE ARRIVE AT THE DEALER, THE PROBLEM HAS CORRECTED ITSELF. THIS OCCURS FIRST THING IN THE DAY. AFTER IT STARTS BLOWING COLD AIR, IT WORKS FINE THE REST OF THE DAY. THIS IS THE 3RD VW PASSAT WE'VE DRIVEN THAT HAS THIS PROBLEM. VW WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE PROBLEM.

THE VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED AND WAS TAKEN TO D-PATRICK VOLKSWAGEN (812-473-6500, LOCATED AT 200 N GREEN RIVER RD, EVANSVILLE, IN 47715) FOR REPAIRS. THE CONTACT LATER RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V389000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING). THE SAME DEALER WAS CALLED AND AN APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULE TO REPAIR THE DAMAGE FROM THE SECOND FAILURE AS WELL AS THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 11,000.

FAILED STEERING WHEEL CLOCK SPRING ON A 2017 VEHICLE THAT HAS BEEN DRIVEN 20,000 MILES OVER 14 MONTHS. AFTER BEING PARKED FOR APPROX 40 MINS, PULLING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT MY STEERING WHEEL MAKE POPPING/CLICKING SOUNDS AND IMMEDIATELY THE AIRBAG ERROR SENSORS WENT OFF ALONG WITH MY SERVICE VEHICLE WARNING. UPON TURNING OUT OF THE PARKING LOT THE STEERING WHEEL MADE A FEW ADDITIONAL POPS/CLICKS. IMMEDIATELY DROVE TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED THE STEERING WHEEL CLOCK SPRING ISSUE. THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT HAVE A PART ON HAND AND HAD TO ORDER IT, SO I DROVE THE VEHICLE HOME. NOW THAT I'M HOME AND RESEARCHING THE FAILED STEERING WHEEL CLOCK SPRING ISSUE, I AM QUESTIONING WHETHER I SHOULD HAVE BEEN ADVISED TO NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE, ESPECIALLY WITH MY CHILD IN THE BACK SEAT.

ONE OF MY PRIMARY CONCERNS IS THAT THE AUTONOMOUS EMERGENCY BRAKING SYSTEM DOES NOT FUNCTION ACCORDING TO PAGE 271 OF THE OWNER'S MANUAL, OR AS PROMOTED BY THEIR DEALERS, AND IN TV COMMERCIALS. I TOOK MY PASSAT TO TWO DEALERS, BOTH SUPPOSEDLY CHECKED IT AND SAID IT TESTED 100% A WEEK LATER, THE CAR DID NOT SLOW AT ALL WHEN I WAS CLOSE TO A VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME GOING 65 MILES AND HOUR AND IT SLAMMED ON ITS BRAKES. IF I HAD NOT BEEN PAYING ATTENTION, A SERIOUS ACCIDENT WOULD HAVE OCCURRED. I WROTE A LETTER REGARDING MY CONCERNS TO MR. HINRICH WOEBCKEN, CEO OF VW OF AMERICA. THE RESPONSE FROM VW WAS THAT MY SYSTEM WORKS FINE ACCORDING TO THEIR DEALERS, AND THEY WILL DO NOTHING FURTHER FOR ME! AFTER THAT, I DID SOME RESEARCH AND DISCOVERED THE RESULTS OF FRONT COLLISION PREVENTION TESTING THAT WAS DONE BY THE INSURANCE INSTITUTE FOR HIGHWAY SAFETY. THEIR TESTS ON 2017 CARS INCLUDED THOSE OF OVER 20 MANUFACTURERS. THERE ARE 3 DIFFERENT PARTS TO THE TEST: FORWARD COLLISION WARNING (ON THE PASSAT THIS IS A TWO CAR SYMBOL IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER) LOW SPEED AUTO BRAKE (THIS IS FOR SPEED UNDER 12 MPH) HIGH-SPEED AUTO BRAKE (THIS IS FOR SPEEDS OVER 25 MPH) THE RESULTS OF THESE TESTS SHOWS THAT ALL COMPARABLE MANUFACTURER'S SEDANS EITHER SCORED 2 OR 3 POINTS ON THE HIGH-SPEED AUTO BRAKE TEST. HOWEVER THE VW PASSAT SCORED "0" POINTS, AND WAS UNABLE BRAKE THE CAR OR REDUCE THE CAR SPEED AT ALL! THE 2017 VW TOUAREG ALSO FAILED THE HIGH- SPEED AUTO BRAKE PORTION OF THE TEST. I FEEL THAT VW NEEDS TO INFORM OWNERS, AND STOP ADVERTISING THAT THEIR CARS HAVE A FUNCTIONING HIGH-SPEED AUTO BRAKING, AS THEY DO NOT! THEY SHOULD QUICKLY COME UP WITH A FIX, AND RECALL ALL 2016 TO 2018 PASSATS, AND OTHER MODELS THAT HAVE THIS FAULTY SYSTEM! DRIVERS HAVE A FALSE SENSE OF SECURITY FOR A SYSTEM THAT DOES NOT WORK!

I CALLED THE CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE WHICH THEN DIRECTED ME TO THE REGIONAL MANAGER WHO TOLD ME THE REASON MY CAR DIDN'T STOP IS BECAUSE I HAVE TWO FLOOR MATS AND ONE SLIPPED AND BLOCKED MY PEDAL, WHICH WAS CLEARLY NOT THE REASON. I WAS TIRED OF GETTING RIDICULOUS ANSWERS AND SURPRISING RIGHT AFTER ALL THIS HAPPENED MY ANTI COLLISION BRAKING SYSTEM STARTS WORKING BUT NOT DURING ANY COLLISIONS BUT JUST REGULAR DRIVING. I COMPLAINED ABOUT HAT AND MY BRAKES AGAIN JUST RECENTLY AND I WA STOLE THAT MY BRAKE PADS ARE WORN OUT AND ROTORS AS WELL AND MY TIRES. TOO SENSITIVE ESC ISSUE ON 2017 PASSAT COULD CAUSE SAFETY HAZARD I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING THE SUPER SENSITIVE ESC THAT ENGAGED AT 35 MILES/HOUR OR MORE AT HIGHWAY ENTRANCE AND EXIT WITH 2017 PASSAT R LINE. THIS 35 MILES LIMIT IS TOO LOW COMPARED WITH VW 2014 JETTA SE, 2016 JETTA 1.8T, 2014 SUBARU FORESTER, 2017 SUBARU OUTBACK, 2007 MERCEDES C230, 2011 C300 I OWN/ED. DRIVER'S PERCEPTION IS NOT MUCH CHANGE DUE TO THE CAR MODEL, ESPECIALLY WITHIN THE SAME OEM LIKE VW, THE CORNER IS DESIGNED TO SUPPORT MORE THAN 50 MILES/HOUR, BUT THE PASSAT HAS SUPER SENSITIVE ESC THAT ENGAGED UNEXPECTEDLY AT THE SUCH LOW SPEED AND IT COULD CAUSE A SUDDEN TIRE TRACTION CHANGE THAT COULD TRIGGER CAR SPIN OR FLIP AT WORST CASE. MY EXPERIENCES WERE AT DRY ROAD CONDITION ONLY AND NOT BEEN EXPOSED TO THE WET OR ICY ROAD IN A PAST, BUT OTHER CONSUMER MAY FACING THE SAME ISSUE AT SOME OTHER STATE BY THE DIFFERENT ROAD CONDITION. LOCAL DEALER AND VW HAVE HELP TESTED AND TRY CHANGING THE SYMPTOMS BY 1. CHANGE TIRE DUE TO ONE OF THE TIRE'S CIRCUMFERENCE WAS 1 INCH OFF, 2. CHANGE SPEED SENSOR, 3. CHANGE BEARING, AND 4. CHANGE ABS ECU, BUT NO IMPROVEMENT BEEN OBSERVED. ALTHOUGH THIS MIGHT BE CONTRADICTED, BUT ONE OF THE LONER PASSAT R LINE HAVE NOT SHOWING THE ISSUE, AND ANOTHER BRAND-NEW PASSAT IN A LOT HAVE THE SAME SYMPTOMS. I UNDERSTAND THAT THIS SENSITIVITY ISSUE MIGHT DIFFERENT BY THE UNIT ASSEMBLY/ALIGNMENT, OR DEPENDING ON THE PARTS BEEN USED FOR EACH UNIT. TESTED AT MULTIPLE LOCATIONS: CA 237 E TO NORTH 1ST ST EXIT, CA 85 N TO EL CAMINO REAL N EXIT, US-101 & SAN TOMAS EXPY INTERCHANGE X 4 CORNERS, US-101 TO N MATILDA SOUTH EXIT, I-280 & WOLF RD ENTRANCE/EXIT VW SHOULD ADJUST THE SENSITIVITY TO BE SAME AS OTHER STANDARD MODELS. IF THEY SAY THIS IS THE STANDARD, THEN THE CAR IS USELESS. (ESPECIALLY FOR THE R LINE THAT SHOULD SUPPORT MUCH SPORTIER DRIVING.)
THE BRAKES HAVE SQUEALED SINCE AI HAVE LEASED THE VEHICLE EW IN 2017. I HAVE HAD THEM LOOKED AT SEVERAL TIME BY A VW SHOP AND THEY HAVE SAID IT IS NORMAL.
