I HAVE RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER DATED AUGUST 2014 BECAUSE OF A FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH. NHTSA 14V-369. THERE IS STILL NO SOLUTION BEING OFFERED BY THE MANUFACTURER AND I AM DRIVING MY FAMILY AROUND WITH A DANGEROUS IGNITION PROBLEM THAT HAS KILLED MANY PASSENGERS. I DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING ATTACHED TO THE KEY, WHICH PRESUMABLY HELPS, BUT I WOULD LIKE MY CAR TO BE SAFE. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY VW IS ALLOWED TO PROCRASTINATE THIS WAY. IF THEY CANNOT FIX THE PROBLEM THEY SHOULD BE REPLACING MY CAR WITH AN ALTERNATIVE VEHICLE. *TR
2009 VOLKSWAGEN ROUTAN. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO IGNITION SWITCH RECALL. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE KEY WOULD NOT COME OUT OF THE IGNITION. THE RECALL LETTER STATED THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 VOLKSWAGEN ROUTAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AS THE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON TWO OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,300.
DRIVING FROM INDIANA TO PHOENIX THE VAN BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY WHILE BRAKING DOWNHILL ON MOUNTAINOUS TERRAIN. TEMPERATURE GAUGE WENT UP OVER 200 AND VAN SMELLED WARM. VAN DID NOT OVERHEAT AND PROBLEM SUBSIDED ONCE BACK ON LEVEL GROUND. PURCHASED VAN USED ON JULY 10 2012 WITH APPROX 25,000 MILES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2009 VOLKSWAGEN ROUTAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS.. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,000.
THE FIRST INCIDENT WITH A "CLUNKING" NOISE OF THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN ON 7/10/2014 AT 51,496 MILES. WHEN SHIFTING FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE CAR MAKES A "CLUNKING" NOISE AND JERKS THE CAR FORWARD. IT WAS NOTED BY DEALERSHIP AFTER A TEST DRIVE NO FAULTS FOUND. ON 3/19/15 AT 58,611 MILES CAR RETURNED TO DEALERSHIP. SAME CLUNKING AND GRINDING NOISES. FAULTS: P0868, P1790 & P0944. PRESSURE READINGS TO LOW IN TCM CONTROL WIRES. TRANSMISSION TO BE REPLACED PER DEALERSHIP. FINDINGS: UNDER DRIVE CLUTCHES WORN OUT, SUNGEARS AND ASSEMBLY DAMAGED WITH METAL METAL FRAGMENTS. ON 4/30/2015 AND 59,215 MILES, CAR RETURNED TO DEALERSHIP FOR SAME GRINDING AND CLUNKING NOISES. DEALERSHIP PERFORMED ANOTHER "QUICK LEARN TEST." AS OF 5/19/2015 AND 60,001 MILES, TRANSMISSION IS STILL GRINDING AND CLUNKING ON OCCASION DURING ACCELERATION AND/OR TRANSMISSION SHIFT FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE ALSO RANDOMLY "STALLS" WHILE AT STOPLIGHTS/STOP-SIGNS WITH NO NORMAL FREQUENCY. EVEN WITH A NEW TRANSMISSION, SAME ISSUES ARE STILL SURROUNDING THIS CAR. THANKS.
I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING THE ENGINE DYING SUDDENLY WHILE I AM DRIVING. THERE IS NO WARNING OR ENGINE LIGHTS. EVERYTHING TURNS OFF INCLUDING THE POWER STEERING. THIS IS TERRIFYING. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, I HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. AFTER KEEPING IT TWO DAYS, THEY CLAIM THAT NOTHING IS WRONG WITH THE CAR. I TRIED TO EXPLAIN THE DANGER INVOLVED IN MY CAR SUDDENLY LOSING POWER BUT THE DEALER STATES THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V194000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 VOLKSWAGEN ROUTAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE ROTORS FAILED EVERY 8,000 MILES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TOA DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DUPLICATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,329.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 VOLKSWAGEN ROUTAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER REFUELING, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. THE CONTACT HAD TO TRY SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE THE VEHICLE WOULD RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE IGNITION AND KEYS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
VEHICLE STALLED SEVERAL TIMES APPROXIMATELY FEBRUARY 17, 2015.THEN FINALLY WOULDN'T START AT ALL. EMERGENCY ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE CAME GOT CAR STARTED. THEN WHILE DRIVING DASHBOARD STARTED BLINKING POWER WAS LOST CAR CUT OFF. HAD TO CONTACT ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE AGAIN TO HAVE CART TOWED TO REPAIR FACILITY. COULD NOT FIND OUT PROBLEM SUGGESTED TO BE TOWED TO DEALER. DEALER COULDN'T FIND THE PROBLEM INITIALLY THEN FOUND IT MADE REPAIRS WHICH I FOUND OUT LATER IT WAS PARTLY DUE TO THE RECALL (28H1.) THEN APPROXIMATELY THE MIDDLE OF JULY 2015 CAR BEGAN TO STALL AGAIN WHEN TRYING TO START. CONTACTED VWOA MADE ARRANGEMENT TO HAVE RECALL REPAIR DONE AGAIN. IT LASTED APPROXIMATELY 7 WEEKS LATER SEPTEMBER 2015 AND ONCE AGAIN THE CAR IS PERIODICALLY STALLING WHEN TRYING TO START. IF THIS IS ELECTRICAL AGAIN IF THIS PROBLEM CONTINUES TO OCCUR WILL IT EVENTUALLY LOOSE POWER AND DISABLE THE CAR ALL TOGETHER AND BE IN A LIFE THREATENING SITUATION AGAIN.

IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STARTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A NOTIFICATION FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V396000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). HOWEVER, THE PART NEEDED TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000. UPDATED 01/28/15*LJ
WHILE DRIVING APPROX 30-35MPH, MY VAN BEGAN TO SMELL HOT AND SMOKE BEGAN TO RISE FROM THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL WELL. I HAD TWO OF MY THREE CHILDREN WITH ME. I FRANTICALLY TOLD MY 14 YR OLD SON WHO WAS IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT TO GET TO THE BACK AND HELP HIS FOUR YR OLD SISTER OUT OF HER CAR SEAT (WE WERE STILL MOVING) I PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT AND HAD THEM QUICKLY EXIT THE LEFT SLIDING DOOR OF THE VAN. LATER THAT EVENING I WENT BACK TO RETRIEVE THE VAN ALONE AND AS SOON AS THE VAN BEGAN TO MOVE IT MADE THE MOST HORRIBLE GRINDING NOISE I HAVE EVER HEARD. I IMMEDIATELY KNEW IT WAS A SEIZED BRAKE CALIPER, (NOT BECAUSE I AM A MECHANIC. I AM A SPEECH THERAPIST). I KNEW BECAUSE APPROX 4 MONTHS PRIOR THE VAN MADE THE EXACT SAME SOUND WITH NO WARNING WHEN THE RIGHT REAR CALIPER SEIZED AND BOTH FRONT AND BACK BRAKES WERE REPLACED! =$780). I DROVE TO THE CLOSEST BRAKE SHOP WHERE IT WAS REPAIRED THE NEXT DAY. COST=$733.68. I TRAVEL AS A SPEECH THERAPIST. I WAS IN JACKSONVILLE BEACH, FL DURING THIS FIASCO. THE PRIOR BRAKE REPAIR WAS DONE IN PHOENIX, AZ SO I COULD NOT USE THE SAME COMPANY OR QUESTION THE WARRANTY. IT CLEARLY ISN'T A WARRANTY ISSUE. AM I TO BELIEVE IT IS NORMAL TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE BRAKE SYSTEM INCLUDING ROTORS, DRUMS, PADS, DISCS, CALIPERS, BUSHINGS, PIN BOOTS, ETC,,, EVERY 7,000 MILES?? I THINK NOT. I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW ALL THOSE WORDS UNTIL I PURCHASED A ROUTAN. SOMETHING IS WRONG. THESE VANS ARE DANGEROUS. I WILL NOT DRIVE MY CHILDREN LONG DISTANCES OR ON THE INTERSTATE IN THE VAN, WHICH I PURCHASED BECAUSE WE DON'T ALL FIT IN THE COROLLA. I AM ASKING VW TO REIMBURSE ME. WE WILL SEE HOW THAT GOES. I'VE HAD THE VW ROUTAN SINCE 2010 - PURCHASED IT WITH 6,000 MILES ON IT. IT'S A SEL SO IT'S AUTO-EVERYTHING. IN THE PAST 12-16 MONTHS BOTH THE LEFT AND RIGHT PASSENGER AUTO DOORS STOPPED WORKING DUE TO A WIRING ISSUE. (2 SEPARATE INCIDENTS; $300 EACH REPAIR). TODAY, MY LEFT PASSENGER AUTO DOOR STOPPED WORKING AGAIN. THE VEHICLE SEES NORMAL USAGE AND HAS NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. *TR

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO REPLACEMENTS OF TIRE VALVE STEMS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED WITHIN THE LAST TEN MONTHS, SHE HAD TO REPLACE THE VALVE STEMS AND TIRE SENSORS THREE TIMES DUE TO DISINTEGRATION OF THE VALVE STEMS, TWICE ON THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE. THE FIRST TIME THE INCIDENT HAPPENED, THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONSUMER STOPPED AND CHECKED THE TIRES. THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE APPEARED TO BE LOW. WHEN SHE ATTEMPTED TO ATTACH THE AIR HOSE, THE TIRE IMMEDIATELY WENT FLAT AND THE VALVE STEM SUCKED INTO THE TIRE. THE SECOND TIME, THE LOW TIRE LIGHT ILLUMINATED, SHE STOPPED AND OBSERVED THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE WAS LOW. THE TIRE WAS GOING FLAT, AS SHE APPROACHED THE SERVICE STATION. AAA REMOVED THE CAP TO THE VALVE STEM WHICH DISINTEGRATED IMMEDIATELY. THE SLOW LEAK RESULTED IN THE CONSUMER HAVING TO PURCHASE A NEW TIRE, VALVE AND TIRE SENSOR. THE THIRD TIME, THE TIRE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AGAIN. IT WAS DETERMINED THE VALVE STEM WAS LEAKING . THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE REPLACEMENT OF THE VALVE STEMS WAS A FREQUENT OCCURRENCE, THE METAL VALVE STEMS WERE APPARENTLY INFERIOR TO TRADITIONAL RUBBER STEMS. *JB

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE WIN MODULE WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
RANDOMLY STALLS WHILE DRIVING- BROUGHT TO MECHANIC, PAID ALMOST $1000 TO TRY TO GET FIXED, BROUGHT BACK WHEN EVERYTHING PAID FOR DIDN'T FIX & WAS TOLD TO REPORT IGNITION SWITCH RECALL TO VW TO GET FIXED. ALSO LOST POWER TO REAR DVD WITHIN DAYS AFTER PURCHASE & NEVER KNEW WHAT TO DO. BRAKE PADS ARE BAD WITHIN 3-4,000 MILES- WINDSHIELD WASHER SQUIRTER UNREPAIRABLE. BIGGEST ISSUE IS THE IGNITION SWITCH THOUGH, IF THAT WHAT IS CAUSING VAN TO STALL - WHILE GOING STEADY SPEED, USUALLY OCCURS OVER 25 MPH FOR MORE THAN 5 MILES- VAN STARTS JERKING LIKE IT'S GOING TO STALL & WHEN SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT OR SIGN, OR PARKED, IDLING, STALLS & TAKES MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO RESTART - THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE I PURCHASED MY 2009 ROUTAN IN 2014 WHEN IT HAD LESS THAN 60K MILES. I HAVE BROUGHT TO MECHANICS THAT ARE FRIENDS & TO MULTIPLE DEALERSHIPS & SHOPS TO DIAGNOSE & FIX & PAID FOR EVERYTHING OUT OF POCKET TO GET FIXED OR REPLACED & IT HAS NEVER FIXED THE PROBLEM FOR MORE THAN A WEEK. FOR THE BRAKES, I BUY ONLY THE MID LEVEL OR HIGH LEVEL GRADE BRAKES & HAVE HAD TO SWITCH BOTH FRONT & REAR BRAKES, ROTORS & CALIPERS OUT @ LEAST 3-4 TIMES PER YEAR SINCE ABOUT 1 MONTH AFTER OWNERSHIP. EVERY TIME, 1-2 BRAKE PADS WERE COMPLETELY BAD & GONE WHILE THE OTHERS WERE ABOUT 50-70% . ANOTHER ISSUE, THAT HAS NEVER BEEN ABLE TO GET FIXED IS THE A/C- AFTER RECHARGING, THE A/C WILL BLOW COLD ON THE DRIVERS SIDE FRONT ONLY & HOT THROUGHOUT THE REST OF THE CAR. WHEN HEAT IS ON, SAME PROBLEM, ONLY BLOWS HEAT IN FRONT & COOL IN BACK. HOW DO I GET ALL RECALLS FOR MY MINIVAN REPAIRED THROUGH VOLKSWAGEN? HOW DOES THE PROCESS WORK? I HAVE 5 SMALL CHILDREN & THIS IS OUR ONLY FORM OF TRANSPORTATION. WILL I BE PROVIDED WITH A LOANER THAT WILL SEAT MY ENTIRE FAMILY WHILE MY VEHICLE IS BEING REPAIRED? PLEASE ADVISE AS I HAVE HAD THIS MINIVAN FOR OVER 3 YEARS WITH THESE ISSUES AND SPENT THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS
MY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WENT OUT ON MY MINIVAN AND I WAS NOT NOTIFIED THAT IT HAD A RECALL ON IT. MY VAN WILL NOT START. I HAVE 2 CHILDREN THAT I HAVE TO GET AROUND TO SCHOOL AND SPORT ACTIVITIES, DOCTORS APPOINTMENTS, ECT. I HAVE SO MUCH TROUBLE WITH THIS VAN SINCE I BOUGHT IT. WITH ALL THE RECALLS, COMPUTER FAILURE AND THE COOLANT LEAK INTO THE INSIDE OF THE VAN, THE INTERIOR COMING DOWN, AND NOW THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILING NOW. I HAVE NO CAR TO GET ME KIDS ANYWAY NOW. THE ENGINE TURNED TO OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND DEPOWERED POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. AT THAT POINT I RESTARTED THE CAR AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE. TOOK THE CAR IMMEDIATELY TO VW DEALER, KEPT THE CAR FOR 24 HOURS, AND THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE INCIDENT SO NOTHING WAS DONE BY THEM. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN AT 93000 MILES ON AUGUST 8, 2014. *TR

THE CONTACT HAD TO UTILIZE THE MANUAL LOCK THAT WAS LOCATED INSIDE THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR HANDLE IN ORDER TO UNLOCK THE DOORS. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE KEY FOB AND MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
WHILE DRIVING IN JACKSONVILLE FLORIDA ON HIGHWAY, WIPERS SUDDENLY CAME ON, ALL IDIOT LIGHTS BEGAN TO BLINK, HEADLIGHTS BEGAN FLASHING OFF AND ON, BEEPING SOUND LIKE WHEN DOOR IS OPEN, THE VAN SUDDENLY DIED AND I WAS UNABLE TO BRAKE, STEER OR CONTROL VEHICLE. THE VAN WAS TOWED TO VW DEALERSHIP THE PROBLEM WAS FOUND TO BE THE SLIDING DOOR HARNESS WHICH WAS INTERFERING WITH NORMAL OPERATION OF THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. REPLACED SLIDING DOOR HARNESS AND FAILED BATTERY. WHEN I QUESTIONED THE FAULTY PART POSSIBLY BEING A RECALL ISSUE I WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT. COST=$624.48 + RENTAL CAR. *IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE HERE THAT I HAD JUST CROSSED OVER A VERY LONG LARGE BRIDGE. IF I HAD BEEN GOING UPHILL WHEN THE VAN SUDDENLY DIED I AM CERTAIN I WOULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT INFLICTING INJURY OR POSSIBLY DEATH TO EITHER MYSELF OR ANOTHER MOTORIST, AS THERE IS NO SHOULDER ON THE BRIDGE AND I WAS TRAVELING AT 55-60MPH. I COULD NOT CONTROL THE VEHICLE. THIS IS CLEARLY AN ISSUE WITH THESE MINI VANS. THANK GOD I WAS TRAVELING TO WORK AND DID NOT HAVE MY CHILDREN IN THE VAN AS I WAITED 2&1/2 HOURS FOR A TOW. *TR
DEALER SAYS THE WIN MODULE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, BUT IT COULD BE A BUS WIRING ISSUE. DASH WARNING LIGHTS, TACHOMETER, SPEEDOMETER AND AIRBAG LIGHTS CONTINUALLY TURN OFF AND ON. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ALSO TURN ON AND OFF. SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE I CANNOT SEE HOW FAST WE ARE GOING, TURN SIGNALS WON'T WORK AND I DON'T THINK THE AIRBAGS ARE ON AT THIS TIME AS WELL. FOR A VIDEO OF THE ISSUE, PLEASE SEE THIS YOUTUBE LINK. THE CAR SUDDENLY SHUTS DOWN LOOSING ALL ELECTRICAL POWER. IT LOOSES ALL POWER STEERING AND BRAKING ABILITY.IT HAS DONE THIS SEVERAL TIMES AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. I HAVE TO COMPLETELY TURN OFF THE CAR AND START IT ALL OVER AGAIN. THIS HAS BEEN VERY DANGEROUS. *TR
WHILE DRIVING IN PHOENIX AZ THE VAN BEGAN TO SHAKE AND STEERING BECAME DIFFICULT. (THIS HAS HAPPENED IN THE PAST MULTIPLE TIMES INTERMITTENTLY). I HAVE A VOLKSWAGEN 2009 VW ROUTON VAN...AKA REBADGED CHRYSLER MINI VAN. THE OEM TPMS HAS A NON-ANODIZED ALUMINUM VALVE RETAINING NUT WHICH CRACKED AND CAUSED A DEFLATION AT HIGHWAY SPEED ON THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE. TO HAVE A SAFETY DEVICE THAT CAUSES AN UNSAFE CONDITION AND A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE THAT COULD LEAD TO INJURY OR DEATH IS UNACCEPTABLE. I HAVE INSPECTED THE OTHER THREE RETAINING NUTS ON THE VALVE STEMS AND FOUND ONE THAT IS CRACKED AND THE OTHERS HAVE SEVERE CORROSION THAT WILL NEED REPAIRED AND REPLACED. I BOUGHT MY VW ROUTAN USED IN SEPTEMBER 2014. IN THE 1ST COUPLE OF MONTHS THE TRANSMISSION WOULD STOP SHIFTING (I WOULD TURN IT OFF AND BACK ON) TO FIX IT AND IN NOVEMBER 2014 THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT AND GOT STUCK IN 3RD GEAR WHILE DRIVING AND WOULDN'T RESET AFTER TURNING OFF, THIS IS WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, AT 62,000 MILES. HAD TO HAVE A NEW $6000 TRANSMISSION BROUGHT IN FROM GERMANY TO BE PUT IN THE VAN. NOW LESS THAN 30,000 MILES LATER AFTER A NEW ORIGINAL TRANSMISSION PUT IN, HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM NOT SHIFTING OUT OF 3RD GEAR AND HAVING TO PULL IT OVER TURN IT OFF AND TURN IT BACK ON FOR IT TO WORK PROPERLY AGAIN. *TR

TRANSMISSION REPLACED 6 MONTHS LATER AND STILL HAS ISSUES (SLUGGISH, NON-SMOOTH SHIFT BETWEEN GEARS AT HIGHER CRUISING SPEEDS. VW ENGINEER GERARDO ZELEDON CALLS THIS THE "ROUTAN SHAKE" AND CLAIMS THIS IS NORMAL. APPROXIMATELY 95,000 MILES STEERING BEGAN SEIZING UP WHILE IN MOTION. THIS IS, ACCORDING TO RECALL NOTICE AND SERVICE MANAGER AT FLOW VW WINSTON SALEM NC, A BEHAVIOR RELATED TO A RECALL ON THE IGNITION SWITCH (NTSHA 14V-396). ABOUT A MONTH LATER THE REAR DRIVER SIDE BEGAN TO LEAK AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THEN TODAY (3/4/14) THE VALVE STEM BROKE OFF THE PASSENGER FRONT TIRE WHEN I WENT TO UNSCREW THE CAP (I COULD HEAR AIR HISSING OUT BEFORE I EVEN TOUCHED IT). IF THIS HAD HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING, I COULD HAVE HAD A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. *TR

THIS CAUSES THE DRIVER TO HAVE TO HOLD THE STEERING WHEEL VERY TIGHTLY TO AVOID LOOSING CONTROL. THE BRAKING SYSTEM IN GENERAL SEEMS TO BE FAULTY AS THE BRAKES AND ROTORS HAVE HAD TO BE REPLACED/CHANGED EVERY TWO TO THREE MONTHS. IT IS VERY EXPENSIVE TO REPLACE THESE BRAKES AND ROTORS AS WELL AS PAY FOR THE LABOR EVERY FEW MONTHS. THIS IS A GREAT CONCERN AND SHOULD BE CONSIDERED FOR A RECALL. *TR

WHILE DRIVING ON 4 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS OVER THE LAST WEEK THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF WITHOUT WARNING. ONCE WHILE TURNING LEFT ACROSS TRAFFIC. THE VAN STOPPED RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TURN AND WAS STARTED JUST IN TIME AND STARTED MOVING AS ONCOMING CAR ALSO SWERVED TO AVOID MY CAR STALLED RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM. DEALER HAS NO IDEA WHAT IS CAUSING THE PROBLEM AND CAN ONLY GUESS THAT THE WIN MODULE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THERE IS A RECALL ON THE WIN MODULE FOR 2010, BUT NOT FOR 2009. *TR
PASSENGER SIDE POWER SLIDING DOOR WIRE HARNESS KEEPS COMING OUT OF PLACE AND GETTING CAUGHT IN DOOR. LOCAL DEALER CLAIMS THIS HAS ALREADY BEEN REPAIRED UNDER THE RECALL BUT IT IS STILL HAPPENING.
