I PRESENTLY OWN A 2002 VOLVO S60 SEDAN. ON OCTOBER 14TH, 2009, AT APPROX. 5:30 AM, THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE BALL JOINT SEPARATED FROM MY VEHICLE, CAUSING FAILURE OF MY UPPER BALL JOINT, THEN SEPARATING MY CV JOINT AND SHAFT FROM MY TRANSMISSION. THIS IN TURN, CAUSED EXTENSIVE BODY DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE. I THANK GOD, THAT I WAS ONLY TRAVELING 20 MILES PER HOUR. IF I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY, I WOULD NOT BE WRITING THIS TODAY. I NOTIFIED DALZELL VOLVO IN DEDHAM, MASS. AND ALSO FILED A CLAIM WITH VOLVO OF NORTH AMERICA, CLAIM NUMBER 376672. MY CLAIM FOR REIMBURSEMENT OF REPAIRS WAS DENIED BY MR. JOHN WILLETS OF VOLVO. I AM VERY CONCERNED FOR ALL THE OTHER OWNERS OF THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE. WHEELS SHOULD NOT BREAK OFF WHILE DRIVING. *TR
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED AFTERMARKET RIMS AND TIRES WERE INSTALLED ON THE VEHICLE. WHILE MAKING LEFT TURNS THE TIRES RUBBED AGAINST THE FENDER WALL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE AN AFTERMARKET SPACER BAR WAS INSTALLED WHICH TEMPORARILY REMEDIED THE PROBLEM. AFTERWARDS, THE DEALERSHIP PUT THE ORIGINAL TIRES AND RIMS BACK ON THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THE AFTERMARKET SPACER BAR HAS INTERFERED WITH THE INTEGRITY OF THE VEHICLE.
WHEN MAKING A SHARP TURN THE VEHICLE FELT LIKE IT WAS TAILING AND DID NOT TRACK PROPERLY. IT ALSO FELT LIKE IT WAS GOING TO SPIN OUT OF CONTROL. THE DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN CONTACTED SEVERAL TIMES, BUT THE CAUSE OR A REMEDY TO THE PROBLEM HAD NOT BEEN FOUND. *JB
