WHILE BACKING OUT OF A PARKING PLACE, I FELT A SENSATION OF GOING OVER A BUMP. I STOPPED THE CAR AND EXAMINED AROUND AND UNDER THE CAR. NO OBJECT OR "BUMP" ITEM WAS SEEN. I DROVE SLOWLY AND EXPERIENCED METALLIC NOISES COMING FROM THE CAR. UPON HAVING THE CAR CHECKED BY MY REGULAR GARAGE, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE HAD BROKEN. I HAVE HAD IT REPLACED (VERY EXPENSIVE) AND THE MECHANIC SAID HE HAD NEVER SEEN THIS TYPE OF EMERGENCY BREAK DAMAGE BEFORE. OTHER OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE MAY BE HELPED BY THIS INFORMATION. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 VOLVO XC70. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE WOULD MAKE A VIOLENT JERK WHEN ACCELERATING AND DECELERATING. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT SHE NEEDED TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THERE WAS ALSO A FAILURE WITH THE BRAKES. THE CONTACT NOTICED THE ABS LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENTAL PANEL AFTER SHE TRIED TO DECELERATE AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS A FAILURE WITHIN THE ABS MODULE AND IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE REPAIRS FOR THE ABS MODULE HAD NOT BEEN PERFORMED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 53,000. UPDATED 02/07/11 *BF UPDATED 02/14/11
NOTICED THAT THE BRAKES HAD BECOME SOFT AND BREAKING WAS LESS EFFECTIVE. PEDAL WAS LOOSE AND THERE WAS A NOISE. WE BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER FOR RECTIFICATION. *TR
THE CONSUMER INDICATED THAT THE BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR PEDALS WERE TOO CLOSE. THE CONSUMER WAS DRIVING INTO TOWN, APPLIED THE BRAKES AND HIT THE GAS PEDAL AT THE SAME TIME. THE CONSUMER CONTACTED VOLVO BUT REFUSED TO TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DEFECT. *AK *SC *JB
