TORQUE CONVERTER FAILED DUE TO FAULTY EQUIPMENT. THIS CAUSED A TOTAL TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT PER ACURA. *TT
SHUDDERING IN TRANSMISSION BETWEEN 35MPH AND 45MPH AND LACK OF POWER. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID HONDA HAS A SERVICE BULLETIN ON IT. *TR
I HAVE AN ACURA 2004 MDX. 111,000 MILES. SERVICED AS DIRECTED. JUST REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION AND THE TORQUE CONVERTER. THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT IS CLEARLY A PROBLEM. ACURA HAD RECALLS BUT CLAIMED TO HAVE "FIXED" THE ISSUE. THERE IS NO WAY A PROPERLY MAINTAINED CAR SHOULD HAVE TO HAVE A COMPLETE TRANSMISSION OVERHAUL DONE. THE MAINSHAFT HAD TO BE REPLACED AS WELL. THE MECHANICS THAT DID THE WORK ARE EX ACURA MECHANICS. THEY CONFIRMED THAT THIS WAS THE EXACT KINDS OF PROBLEM THEY REPLACED FOR YEARS ON MDX'S. I HAD TO HAVE AN ENTIRE NEW TRANSMISSION WITH MAIN SHAFT AND TORQUE CONVERTER REPLACED. THIS COST ME $3,558.02. THIS IS WRONG. A CAR, ESPECIALLY A HIGH END CAR LIKE ACURA, SHOULD NOT HAVE TO HAVE AN ENTIRE TRANSMISSION REPLACED AT 111K MILES. IT WAS UNETHICAL OF ACURA TO NOT ADVISE ME OF THIS HISTORY BEFORE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 ACURA MDX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE MADE A SHUTTERING VIBRATION NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE TORQUE CONVERTER WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
ANOTHER 2004 MDX TRANSMISSION ISSUE.JUTTER OCCURING BETWEEN THE SPEEDS OF 25-45 MPH.DEALER CLAIMS THIS IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY ANY LONGER(100,000 MILES ON CAR) AND THERE HAVE BEEN VERY FEW COMPLAINTS ON THIS PROBLEM.AFTER TAKING THE ISSUE OF NEEDING A NEW TRANSMISSION TO CORPORATE,I WAS TOLD THEY WOULD COVER ONLY A PORTION OF THE COST. MY PORTION WOULD BE 2500.00. THIS IS ABSURD. ACURA KNOWS FULL WELL THAT A PROBLEM EXISTS AND SHOULD STAND BY THEIR VEHICLES. THEY HAVE CERTAINLY LOST ME AS A THREE TIME BUYER OF THEIR VEHICLES. *TT
MY 2004 ACURA MDX DOES NOT BRAKE PROPERLY IN A PANIC TYPE STOP FROM ANY SPEED. APPLYING THE BRAKE PEDAL WITH MAXIMUM FORCE DOES NOT GENERATE ENOUGH HYDRAULIC PRESSURE TO "LOCK THE WHEELS" AND ACTIVATE THE ABS ON DRY PAVEMENT. THE ABS WORKS WELL UNDER OTHER LOW FRICTION CIRCUMSTANCES SUCH AS RAIN, SNOW, AND ICE. THE ABS AND BRAKING SYSTEM HAVE BEEN CHECKED AND FOUND TO BE WORKING PROPERLY. PANIC BRAKING DISTANCES ARE LONG WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL PUSHED TO THE FLOOR, THE CAR FEELS AS IF IT IS NOT STOPPING FAST ENOUGH ON DRY PAVEMENT. NORMAL, NON PANIC BRAKING SEEMS TO BE NORMAL. I HAVE HAD NEW BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS INSTALLED. BRAKE FLUID HAS BEEN FLUSHED TWICE AND I INSTALLED STAINLESS STEEL FLEXIBLE BRAKE LINES ALL OF WHICH MADE NO DIFFERENCE IN FULL PANIC BRAKING. OVER A FEW YEARS I HAVE HAD 3 INDEPENDENT SHOPS CHECK THE BRAKES AND ALL SAID THAT THE BRAKES WERE NORMAL. IN APRIL 2013, I HAD THE ACURA DEALER EVALUATE THE BRAKING SYSTEM AND WAS TOLD "NORMAL, THIS IS JUST HOW THEY BRAKE". TO DO A COMPARISON, I TEST DROVE A USED 05 MDX AT THE HONDA DEALER AND IT BRAKED EXACTLY THE SAME AS MY 04: NO ABILITY TO ACTIVATE THE ABS IN A FULL PANIC STOP FROM ANY SPEED ON DRY PAVEMENT. RECENTLY, HONDA RECALLED 250,000 VEHICLES FOR A DEFECTIVE BRAKE BOOSTER AND THE 01-06 MDX IS NOT INCLUDED IN THAT RECALL. THIS RECALL WAS BASED ON HONDA'S AUDIT OF WARRANTY CLAIMS. CARS LIKE MY MDX ARE WELL BEYOND THE WARRANTY PERIOD AND WOULD NEVER BE FOUND BASED ON ANY WARRANTY CLAIM HISTORY. IT IS MY BELIEF THAT MY 04 MDX (AND LIKELY OTHER MDX VEHICLES) HAS A DEFECTIVE BRAKE BOOSTER RESULTING IN POOR BRAKING PERFORMANCE AND CREATES A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. IN MAY 2013, I SOLD MY 04 MDX TO THE SAME ACURA DEALER WHO DID THE EVALUATION OF THE BRAKES. IN JUNE 2013, I CONTACTED ACURA HQ AND ADVISED THEM OF THE PROBLEM AND THEY ARE GOING TO MONITOR FOR SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. *TR
I HAVE A 2004 ACURA MDX. THERE ARE ABOUT 77,000 MILES ON IT. VSA, VTM-4, ABS, AND AIRBAG LIGHTS KEEP FLASHING. SO I TOOK IT TO MY ACURA DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THAT AFTER DIAGNOSTIC THAT THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL FAILED. I BELIEVE THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE WIRING OF ALL MDX IN OR AROUND 2004. THERE HAS BEEN NUMEROUS REPORTING OF REAR DIFFERENTIAL FAILURES IN 2003 AND 2004 MDXS. ACURA SHOULD TAKE A LOOK INTO THIS AND MAYBE DO A RECALL. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION MAKES A LOUD NOISE AND SLOWS DOWN WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING ALMOST AS IF THE TRANSMISSION WAS ABOUT TO GO OUT. *TR
A RATTLING/SHUDDERING/GRINDING IS OCCURING WHEN ACCELERATING, AND ONLY WHEN ACCELERATING, BETWEEN 30 AND 42 MPH. IT IS A RESULT OF A FAILING TORQUE CONVERTER. PROBLEM ONLY OCCURS WHILE IN D5. *TR
MY MECHANIC DETERMINED MY FRONT AND SIDE MOTOR MOUNTS NEED REPLACING, AND MENTIONED IT BEING COMMON IN MY VEHICLE. I'VE SINCE FOUND OTHERS WITH ACURA MDXS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. NEVER NEEDED MOUNTS REPLACED IN ANY OTHER VEHICLES OWNED. I BELIEVE IT TO BE AN INHERENT DEFECT ACURA MUST ADDRESS.
VEHICLE DEVELOPS VIBRATION AND SHUTTER IN TRANSMISSION/DRIVETRAIN AT APPROXIMATELY 30MPH ALONG WITH FLUCTUATIONS IN RPMS. ALSO, TORQUE CONVERTER FEELS SEMI-LOCKED AT IDLE WHEN IN DRIVE SHORTLY AFTER STARTING CAUSING ROUGH IDLE AND STALLS, AND HESITATION UPON INITIAL ACCELERATION. *TR
DRIVING HOME AFTER PURCHASING USED 2004 ACURA MDX THE VEHICLE WAS MAKING A NOTICEABLE SHUTTER/GRINDING NOISE BETWEEN 30-45 MPH UNDER LIGHT ACCELERATION. DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED FAULTY TORQUE CONVERTER AND REPLACED AT NO COST. NO APPROXIMATELY 11,000 MILES LATER, THE PROBLEM HAS CAME BACK WITH BAD TORQUE CONVERTER. INTERNET SEARCH REVEALS THIS PROBLEM IS COMMON WITH THESE VEHICLES. WOULD NOT HAVE PURCHASED IF KNOWN ISSUES BEFORE. THESE IS AN OBVIOUS DESIGN FLAW IN THE POWER TRAIN. *TR
I OWN A 2004 ACURA MDX WITH APPROX. 58,000 MI. THE PROBLEM I'M EXPERIENCING IS WHEN EVER I TRY TO FUEL THE VEHICLE IT EITHER STOPS AUTOMATICALLY AFTER ABOUT 0.2 GAL OR IT OVERFLOWS ONTO THE BODY AND TIRES ALSO AFTER ABOUT0.2 GAL. I NOTICED IT ABOUT 6-8 WEEKS AGO, SO I STARTED GOING TO A DIFFERENT GAS STATION WHERE IT WOULD FILL WITHOUT PROBLEMS, BUT JUST IN THE LAST WEEK, IT DOES IT ALL THE TIME NO MATTER WHAT GAS STATION I GO TO. I FEEL THIS TO BE A SAFETY HAZARD DUE TO THE FACT ANY FUEL SPILL IS HAZARDOUS, LET ALONE IF IT SPILLS ONTO THE REAR TIRE WHEN THE BREAKS ARE HOT ON A HOT SUMMER DAY AND I JUST GOT OUT OF A TRAFFIC JAM WHERE I WAS CONSTANTLY HAVING TO BREAK. ALL THOUGH I'VE READ MANY COMPLAINTS OF THIS SAME PROBLEM WITH OTHER MDX OWNERS ON VARIOUS ON-LINE FORUMS, ACURA HAS YET TO MAKE A RECALL FOR THIS AND FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR
THE BEST WAY TO DESCRIBE THE INCIDENT IS THAT OUR VEHICLE JUST STARTED TO LOSE POWER AS WE WERE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY. THEN, IT JUST FROZE. THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. THEN, IT SEEMED TO BE ALRIGHT BUT IT WOULD FREEZE UP AGAIN. IT WAS VERY FRIGHTENING BECAUSE THERE WERE CARS ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 60-65 MPH. WE WERE ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME AND HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AND THEN TO ACURA GARAGE A DAY LATER. WE WERE GIVEN NO WARNING OF A PROBLEM. THERE WAS NO LIGHT TO INDICATE A PROBLEM. WE WERE TOLD THAT THE TRANSMISSION AND TORQUE CONVERTER NEEDED REPLACED. WE LEARNED THAT THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THE ACURA MDX. WE FILED A CLAIM WITH ACURA. WE HAD A SERVICE BULLETIN. APPARENTLY, HONDA/ACURA KNOWS OF THIS PROBLEM BUT REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. WE BOUGHT OUR 2004 MDX NEW. WE HAD ALL NECESSARY MAINTENANCE DONE ON THE VEHICLE. ACURA WANTED OUR DOCUMENTATION WHICH WE PROVIDED. THEY OFFERED TO PAY HALF OF THE REPAIRS. OUR EXPENSE WAS $2000. I FEEL THAT A RECALL IS IN ORDER. AGAIN, HONDA/ACURA KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM WITH NOT JUST THE ACURA BUT THE PILOT AND THE ODYSSEY, AS WELL. OUR CAR HAD 79,000 MILES ON IT WHEN THIS OCCURRED. *TR
INTERMITTENTLY FOR ABOUT 3 MONTHS, GAS WOULD BE PUMPED AS USUAL. AFTER A FEW SECONDS, THE GAS WOULD GUSH BACK OUT. OR, ONLY A COUPLE DOLLARS OF GAS COULD BE PUMPED BEFORE THE AUTO-SHUT OFF STOPPED THE GAS FLOW. YOU TRY AGAIN, AND IT WOULD AUTO-SHUT OFF AGAIN. MAJOR FIRE AND SAFETY HAZARD. DEALER REPLACED ENTIRE GAS TANK TO FIX PROBLEM, BUT CHARGED CUSTOMER FOR LABOR. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 ACURA MDX. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR INSPECTION AND WAS TOLD THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING. THE FAILURE WAS WITHIN THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL TORQUE CONVERTER. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN FAILURE THAT ACURA HAD BEEN HANDLING ON A CASE BY CASE BASIS. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY WOULD NOT RECEIVE ANY ASSISTANCE BECAUSE THE CONTACT WAS NOT THE ORIGINAL OWNER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
I HAVE A 2004 ACURA MDX, RECENTLY, THE TORQUE CONVERTER FAILED (MILEAGE 65000) AND THIS WILL LEAD TO THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE. I FOUND NUMEROUS MDX OWNERS COMPLAIN THIS PROBLEMS. SO ACURA SHOULD HAVE A RECALL FOR THIS AND EXTEND THE WARRANTY. *TR

MY 2004 ACURA MDX - HAS SAFETY CONCERNS AROUND SHUDDERING - GRINDING AND VIBRATING WITHIN THE VEHICLE WHEN ACCELERATING BEYOND 35 MPH. THERE ARE SEVERAL FORUMS WITH HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS LISTED FROM OTHER VARIOUS OWNERS OF THE SAME MODEL VEHICLE MANUFACTURED IN MODEL YEARS 2003 - 2004. THIS SAFETY ISSUE APPEARS TO BE AN ABSOLUTE DEFECT THAT AFFECTS THE DRIVING PERFORMANCE OF THE VEHICLE. THE STATED REPAIR COST RANGE BETWEEN $2,500 AND $3,000. THE DEALER IS NOT OPEN TO COVERING ANY O F THE COST OF THE DEFECT. *TR
MY 2004 ACURA MDX HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH A TORQUE CONVERTER PROBLEM AT 71,000 MILES. WHEN WE ARE AT LOW SPEEDS, 35 - 45 MPH THE TRANSMISSION STARTS TO VIBRATE AS IF WE ARE GOING OVER RAILROAD TRACKS. OVER THE PAST FEW MONTHS THE GAS MILEAGE HAS DROPPED SIGNIFICANTLY TO THE POINT THAT WE ARE HAVE TO FILL UP TWICE A WEEK TO DRIVE ROUGHLY 150 MILES. I HAVE READ HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER 2004-2006 MDX OWNERS WITH THIS SAME COMPLAINT. SOME 2004 MODELS HAVE BEEN RECALLED BUT NOT MINE. HOW CAN THEY ONLY RECALL SPECIFIC VIN'S AND NOT THE ENTIRE MODEL YEAR. THIS IS A FINANCIAL AND SAFETY CONCERN, ONE BECAUSE THE VEHICLES GAS MILEAGE HAS DROPPED SIGNIFICANTLY AND THE TRANSMISSION COULD LOCK-UP OR OVERHEAT AT ANYTIME. *TR
TORQUES CONVERTER PROBLEM 2004 ACURA MDX SERVICE BULLETIN 06-003. *TR
2004 ACURA MDX TORQUE CONVERTER ISSUE. I CAN FEEL/HEAR THE VIBRATION/SHUDDER/GRINDING BETWEEN 20-50 MPH WHILE MAINTAINING THE STEADY SPEED WITH LIGHT LOAD. THE SAME ISSUE HAPPENED ONCE WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS AT AROUND 45000 MILES. THE DEALER REPLACED THE TORQUE CONVERTER UNDER WARRANTY. HOWEVER, THE SAME ISSUE CAME BACK AT AROUND 75000 MILES UNTIL NOW AT 93000 MILES. IT WAS ONLY NOTICEABLE AT AROUND 30 MPH, BUT NOW CAN BE NOTICED BETWEEN 20 AND 50 MPH. *TR
2004 ACURA MDX FAILED TORQUE CONVERTER, GRINDING AT LOW SPEED 10MPH-20MPH. REPAIRS ONGOING CAR HAS BEEN AT DEALER FOR TWO WEEKS. PURCHASED EXTENDED WARRANTY FROM ACURA AND IS SUPPOSED TO BE COVERED BUT WARRANTY COMPANY DRAGGING THEIR FEET. CURRENT MILEAGE 90K NO WARNING OR PREVIOUS PROBLEM. ALSO REAR MAIN SEAL ON ENGINE BEING REPLACED WHICH IS IMMEDIATELY ADJACENT TO CONVERTER. ESTIMATED COST TO REPAIR $3,500. *TR
TRANSMISSION GROWLING NOISE AND VIBRATION BETWEEN 35-40MPH WHEN ACCELERATING MODERATELY. *TR
WHEN IN D5 DRIVING BETWEEN 30-45 MPH AT 1500 RPMS THE TRANSMISSION MAKES A VIBRATION/DULL-GRINDING NOISE INTERMITTENTLY. IT SEEMS TO FORCE ITSELF INTO 5TH GEAR AT LOW-SPEEDS, AND THEN LUGS THE ENGINE AND RETURNS TO 3RD OR 4TH GEAR AFTER A FEW SECONDS. ITS AFFECTS THE PERFORMANCE OF THE ENGINE, AND IS WEARING OUT THE AUTO-TRANSMISSION QUICKLY. WHY ISN'T THERE A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE IF ITS AS PREVALENT AS IT SEEMS? I WOULDN'T HAVE PURCHASED THE CAR IF I NOTICED THIS PROBLEM BEFORE-HAND. *TR
I BOUGHT AN USED ACURA FROM A DEALER ALMOST TWO YEARS AGO BUT 3 MONTH AGO THE VEHICLE SHUDDERS OR VIBRATES BETWEEN 35 AND 40 MPH, AS PER DIAGNOSE OF ACURA, THEY STATED TORQUE CONVERTER IS FAULTY. HOWEVER BECAUSE CAR IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY THEY DON'T WANT TO COVER PROBLEM NO MATTER OF THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS OF SEVERAL PEOPLE ON SEVERAL WEBSITES. *TR
2004 ACURA MDX TRANSMISSION FAILURE . 81000 MILES WITH JERKY ACTION, SMOKE IN THE HOOD. SMELL OF BURNT OIL. METAL PART UNDER THE PART BURNT AS LIQUID. NO COVERAGE AND 7000 DOLLAR COSTLY REPLACEMENT. NO WARRANTY. *TR
AFTER BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AND SHIFTING THE CAR INTO D5 THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT ENGAGE AND WAS COMPLETELY SLIPPING. AFTER SHIFTING TO A LOWER GEAR I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO DRIVE AND THEN SHIFTED BACK INTO D5. UPON SLOWING AND THEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE AGAIN THE TRANSMISSION AGAIN COMPLETELY FAILED TO ENGAGE AND HAT TO BE SHIFTED INTO THE LOWEST GEAR TO RE-ENGAGE THE TRANSMISSION. ALSO, ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHILE TRYING TO PASS OTHER VEHICLES THE TRANSMISSION WOULD AGAIN COMPLETELY SLIP. ALSO AT POINTS WHERE I WOULD ENTER TRAFFIC FROM A SIDE STREET OR PARKING LOT AS I HAVE TRIED TO ENTER TRAFFIC AT AN OPENING THE TRANSMISSION WOULD FAIL TO ENGAGE WHICH HAS CREATED VERY DANGEROUS SITUATIONS WHERE WE HAVE ALMOST BEEN IN A VERY BAD ACCIDENT. *TR
TRANSMISSION/TORQUE CONVERTER VIBRATION AT 35-45MPH. STARTED AT 70,000 MILES. FORCED TO REPLACE TRANSMISSION, ACURA SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS FAILURE. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN HE ATTEMPTED TO PUMP GAS, THE FUEL WILL SPILL OUT WHICH WAS SIMILAR TO THE FAILURE IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 04V541000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: STORAGE: TANK ASSEMBLY). THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE INFORMED WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT HIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 75,000.
I EXPERIENCED A TERRIFYING EVENT OF SUDDEN ACCELERATION. I WAS PULLING INTO A CHURCH PARKING LOT YESTERDAY MORNING AND HAD ALMOST COME TO A FULL STOP WHEN SUDDENLY THE ENGINE REVVED AND THE CAR TOOK OFF (A WITNESS SAID THE HORN BEEPED AS IT HAPPENED; I DON'T REMEMBER, I WAS SO BUSY TRYING TO CONTROL THE CAR AND THE ENGINE WAS LOUD, LIKE A TEEN-AGER IN A DRAG RACE). I KEPT BRAKING AND TURNED THE WHEEL SHARPLY TO AVOID HITTING THE FENCE IN FRONT OF ME BUT COULDN'T GET IT TO STOP. IT WAS LIKE IT WAS DEMON-POSSESSED. I HIT A GLANCING BLOW TO A TRANSFORMER AND A TREE AND HIT TWO BACKYARD FENCES. A METAL POLE OF THE FENCE GOT CAUGHT IN THE RIGHT TIRE AND I STOPPED BEFORE GOING INTO A SWIMMING POOL. THE ENGINE QUIETED DOWN SOMEWHAT SIMULTANEOUSLY. MY 2004 ACURA MDX HAS BEEN MAKING A GRINDING NOISE (AS IF GOING OVER RUMBLE STRIPS) WHEN DRIVING ABOVE 35 MPH ESPECIALLY WHEN DRIVING ON A CURVE. THE POHANKA ACURA DEALERSHIP STATES THAT THE TORQUE CONVERTER IS FAULTY. THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM IS LISTED NUMEROUS TIMES ONLINE FOR THE 2004 MDX. ACURA HAS NOT PLACED A RECALL APPARENTLY BECAUSE THEY DO NOT SEE IT AS A SAFETY ISSUE. THEY WILL NOT ADMIT TO HAVE USED A FAULTY PART IN BUILDING THIS PARTICULAR MODEL. HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS TYPE OF BUSINESS PRACTICE. WHERE IS THE CUSTOMER SERVICE THEY RAVE ABOUT? THEY ARE ASKING FOR OVER $3K TO REPLACE THE FAULTY PART. SINCE ABOUT FEBRUARY 2010 THE VEHICLE STABILITY ASSIST SYSTEM WILL RANDOMLY ACTIVATE DURING PERIODS OF PROLONGED HIGHWAY DRIVING. THIS CONDITION USUALLY HAPPENS ON DRY PAVEMENT AND WITHOUT WARNING. IT FEELS LIKE ONLY THE DRIVERS SIDE FRONT BRAKE IS APPLIED AND THE VEHICLE SWERVES TO THE RIGHT UNCONTROLLABLY. THE CONDITION HAS NEARLY CAUSED ME TO CRASH MULTIPLE TIMES AND IS VERY FRIGHTENING. I HAVE HAD THE ACURA DEALER TROUBLESHOOT THE PROBLEM MANY TIMES WITH NO RESULTS. THE MOST RECENT TIME THIS HAPPENED WAS EARLY DECEMBER 2013. I IMMEDIATELY DROPPED THE VEHICLE OFF AT AN ACURA DEALER AND THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A FAULTY LATERAL ACCELERATION SENSOR. UNFORTUNATELY THIS PART IS NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME AND IS ON INDEFINITE BACKORDER. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT HAS NEARLY CAUSED HARM TO MYSELF AND OTHER VEHICLES DUE TO MY OUT OF CONTROL VEHICLE. I AM NOW WITHOUT TRANSPORTATION UNTIL ACURA IS ABLE TO GET THE PART BACK IN STOCK. THE ORVR WALL WAS AGAIN REPLACED. APPROXIMATELY 4 MONTHS LATER THE FAILURE BEGAN TO RECUR. THE AUTHORIZED DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND HE WAS ADVISED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE FUEL TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 95,000.

THE DEALER THEN ADVISED REPLACING THE ENTIRE FUEL TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 ACURA MDX. WHILE TRAVELING AT 15 MPH, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL GRINDING COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION. IN ADDITION, WHEN ACCELERATING AT 15-40 MPH, THE GRINDING WOULD STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHERE HE WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THERE WERE NO PRIOR WARNINGS OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 105,000.

I WENT TO DRUG A STORE AND WAS IN A HURRY WHEN I PARKED THE VEHICLE. I LEFT THE CAR IN "DRIVE" AS I WAS IN A HURRY AND DIDN'T NOTICE. I WAS ABLE TO TURN OFF THE IGNITION AND REMOVE THE KEY, WHICH DIDN'T REGISTER TO ME AS A PROBLEM AT THE TIME. WHEN I CAME OUT OF THE STORE, I FOUND THE VEHICLE HAD ROLLED BACKWARDS AND STRUCK ANOTHER PARKED VEHICLE, CAUSING APPROXIMATELY $2200 IN DAMAGE TO THE OTHER VEHICLE. MINIMAL TO NO DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE. WHEN I GOT HOME I WAS ABLE TO DUPLICATE THIS SITUATION. *TR

THE CONTACT CONFIRMED THAT THE BRAKES IN THE VEHICLE WERE UNUSUALLY SOFT. THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE IN THE BRAKING SYSTEM. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 138,000.
I WAS DRIVING TO WORK ON THE CAPITAL BELTWAY WHEN MY LOW TIRE PRESSURE INDICATOR CAME ON AND WITHIN MINUTES, MY TIRE WAS COMPLETELY FLAT. WHEN ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE REMOVED MY TIRE, IT HAD COMPLETELY SPLIT ON THE INSIDE SIDEWALL. THE SHOP NOTICED THE SAME SPLIT HAPPENING ON THE OTHER REAR TIRE SO BOTH WERE REPLACED IMMEDIATELY. I SAVED THE TIRES AND HAD TO TAKE THEM TO A GOODYEAR DEALER WHERE I WAS OFFERED A PRORATED REFUND. I WAS 7 MONTHS PREGNANT AT THE TIME AND EXTRAORDINARILY LUCKY THAT THIS DIDN'T CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. *TR
TOOK CAR IN FOR INSPECTION AND THE DEALER TOLD US OUR FRONT ENGINE MOUNT NEEDS REPLACING. NEVER HAD TO DEAL WITH THIS WITH OUR PREVIOUS CARS. SHOULDN'T ACURA TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR MISTAKES. *TR
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
