MALFUNCTION: ROAD MITIGATION SYSTEM FAILED (RDM), LANE KEEPING ASSIST SYSTEM (LKAS) FAILED, and CRUSE CONTROL FAILED, after investigating the issue this is happening with multiple vehicles. SAFETY: YES, these all failed at the same time, poses significant safety issues for the diver, passengers, and other drivers due to nature of failure. CONFORMATION: at this time no inspection of the vehicle has transpired. NO OTHER WANING LAMPS OR MESSAGES, prior to suddenly showing up today 6/18/25
When idle stop is on and I come to a stop, the car shuts off and switches to neutral. It has to be put in park to start it back up. This is a safety concern because the vehicle is essentially stalled until you're able to put it in parked and restart it, which could cause an accident. The dealer is aware of the problem as it's been discussed the last two times that I've taken my vehicle in for recalls. According to the dealer, there is a recall for this issue but it's not for 2020 MDX, it's for 2022-2025.
On multiple occasions when the car is stopped at a light, in traffic or at a stop sign and the auto idle stop feature is engaged the car will shut off and not restart for up to 1 minute. We have always been able to get it to restart but feel it is dangerous to be stopped so long in moving traffic.
I am writing to formally express my concern regarding a recurring issue with the Auto Start/Stop feature in my 2020 Acura MDX. This feature, which is intended to improve fuel efficiency, has instead caused unexpected and unsafe engine shutoffs while the vehicle is in operation. On multiple occasions, the vehicle has failed to restart promptly after the engine shuts off at a stoplight or in traffic, creating a serious safety hazard. The delay or failure to restart can leave the car temporarily disabled in active traffic, placing both myself and other drivers at risk.
The contact owns a 2020 Acura MDX. The contact stated that on three separate occasions, the Auto Engine Idle Stop system failed to operate while depressing the accelerator pedal while at a stop. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact stated that the vehicle shut off and the contact had to manually restart the vehicle after the failure. The contact called and informed the dealer of the failure. The contact was then referred to the manufacturer for assistance with the repair. The contact was provided a case number and referred to the dealer to order the part for the repair. The contact made multiple attempts to reach the dealer but had not received a response. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 44,000.
At 101,841 miles, noticed ticking coming from the engine as it was idling. Acura of Limerick dealership diagnosed the issue coming from the bottom of the engine as a rod knock. They feel the problem is internal to the engine and suggest replacing the engine at my, I the owner's cost. After reviewing blogs and information on recalls on the internet, this issue seems in line with other rod bearing issues with this 3.5L V6 engine. But my Vin is not identified as having the recall issue? This seems incorrect as my Vin should be covered as it seems to be the same problem.
I am reporting a failure of the multipurpose front windshield camera in my vehicle, which resulted in the loss of multiple safety systems including Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Auto High-Beam, and Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS). These features are critical to safe driving, and their sudden deactivation poses a serious safety risk to both the driver and others on the road. This issue required costly repairs. I believe this represents a safety defect that should be investigated by NHTSA.
My car has been going into neutral when in the autostop. The only way to get out of it is to turn it off and back on. It's incredibly dangerous. I almost got into a horrible accident. It happens suddenly and without warning.
2020 acura mdx tech package with 31600 miles, I purchased this vehicle first owner in march of 2021 and about 3 days ago 5/22/25 I get a fault reading for collision mitigation system problem, lane keep assist problem, road departure mitigation system problem, adaptive cruse control problem and auto high-beam problem, all safety feature issues, I brought vehicle to Acura dealership and they scanned for error codes which produced error code#u3000-49 for faulty multipurpose camera unit millimeter wave radar internal electronic failure recommend to replace the wave radar, dealership states vehicle is no longer under warranty and would cost a total of $1500 to get repaired and replaced , this issue should be looked into further for faulty acura part if repair is done what are the chances of it happening again with normal usage of vehicle.
I was in traffic on a major highway during rush hour, and my car went into neutral on its own in the middle of the highway. I was unable to put it in drive, restart it, turn it off or do anything else. The car truck behind me almost hit me and other cars were honking their horns as they changed lanes and drove past me. It was extremely frightening and unsafe as my car sat there without moving, on a major highway, in the middle of rush hour, at 5:35 pm. This happened before and I reported it to the dealership in 2024, and took my car in on three different occasions. In November 2024, less than a year after I purchased the certified pre owned car, it shifted into neutral twice within 20 minutes while I was driving intown, and again later than day as I exited a highway. The third time, I was able to get a video of it on my phone. The dealer said they could not reproduce the problem but fortunately, I sent them the video that shows the oil, battery, ABS, ACC, brake, road departure system, tire pressure, LKAS, brake system and other lights were all on. They said they addressed the issue then. This time around, in April 2025, they told me that they were unable to reproduce the issue but that it was because my battery tested low. Nothing was mentioned about a battery in November when the battery was still under warranty. Now they are saying it is the battery. There were no warnings before the car stalled. This is concerning and very unsafe. I cannot upload videos to this report so I have uploaded a few screenshots from it.
Faulty Windshield camera. which fails due to overheating. and sets off problem lights on the dashboard. lane keep assist , lane departure, brake problem. this seems to be a common problem with this faulty design. to replace this part is $2,000 which who knows if it will fail again. so know one is forced to drive around with the constant problem lights and the uneasy feeling of not having brake assistance when and if needed. this puts not only the driver and passengers lives at risk but the lives of the public.
The contact owns a 2020 Acura MDX. The contact stated that while driving in Comfort Mode at approximately 40 MPH and attempting to accelerate to change lanes, the vehicle stalled for several minutes before accelerating. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle hesitated to start intermittently, and the failure was more frequent over time. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that the battery had failed. The battery was replaced, and the vehicle was remedied under the NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V031000 (Fuel System, Gasoline, Electrical System). The failure reoccurred. The vehicle was returned to the dealer, and the contact stated that the vehicle was shaking abnormally while accelerating; however, the dealer had not diagnosed the vehicle a second time. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 48,193.
Auto Idle Stop issue where engine did not restart. Occurred multiple times in April/May of 2024 and Vehicle Stability Assist Code U3006-16 appeared on the Infotainment screen. Taken to dealer who was unable to replicate the problem. The U3006-16 code appeared again in February 2025 but the car did not experience the restart issue at that time. The U3006-16 code appeared again on April 6, 2025 while exiting a freeway after a 20 minute drive and the engine did not restart after Auto Idle Stop engaged at the second intersection. Taken to dealer and unable to replicate the problem and supposedly cleared the codes. On May 21, 2025 the U3006-16 code appeared again while exiting a freeway after a one hour drive but the car did not experience the restart issue at that time. Took car to dealer who checked a bunch of things and cleared the code,
I stopped at a red light and when I went to pull of the car cut off. I had to restart the car to pull off. This is the second time that this has happened.
My vehicle will phantom brake and kick on the automatic emergency brake system without cause. It has done it as I was accelerating onto the freeway onramp and almost caused a collision with the vehicle behind me. There was nothing in front of me and no reason to brake. It has happened on several occAsions
### 1. **What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request?** The rearview camera system in my 2020 Acura MDX has malfunctioned. The camera, which is integral to several safety systems in the vehicle, has failed, causing significant safety concerns. The vehicle is available for inspection by an Acura dealership or independent service center upon request. ### 2. **How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk?** The malfunction of the rearview camera directly impacts the **Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)**, **Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)**, and **Lane Departure Warning (LDW)** systems. These systems rely on cameras and sensors to detect obstacles, maintain a safe following distance, and alert the driver when switching lanes. Without the proper function of the rearview camera, these safety systems become unreliable, increasing the risk of head-on collisions, rear-end accidents, or unintended lane changes, which could lead to a serious crash. Furthermore, the area surrounding the malfunctioning camera becomes dangerously hot, posing a burn risk when touched, which adds another safety hazard. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes I have taken the vehicle to a dealership for a formal inspection, I have confirmed the issue through the consistent malfunctioning of the camera. The overheating and failure of the camera have been present since the issue began, and I have communicated this to Acura's customer service. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? The vehicle has been inspected by the manufacturer beyond the initial communication with Acura’s customer service. No inspection has been conducted by the police or insurance representatives. However, I have made Acura aware of the problem, and the customer service team, led by Account Manager Monica
Engine noise on Monday sounded like thumping - didn't drive car on Tuesday and stated up today sounded like chewing metal in engine bay. 2020 MDX Advanced. Drove to dealership and they confirmed needs small block and is only 2K miles outside of powertrain warranty. Honda claims this isn't under their recall, but dealership is saying all signs point to the same bearing failure. 10K costs for the small block, but could lead to entire engine required.
March 21, 2025. I made an appointment to the closest Acura Dealership (Sterling McCall Acura Sugar Land, TX) for the two recalls I have on my 2020 Acura MDX. They were not able to accommodate with my timing request. Since I reside more than one hour away, I am not able and willing to drive so many times for this issue. I've asked them to fix the recalls today, as I have 3-4 hours free. They were not able to and offered me a rental car to keep until the problems are fixed. Due to my location and timing consuming to drive to their location (the closest to me), I refused. When I bought my brand new MDX I trusted the brand, and now they are not able to provide a covenant solution to me. I am very disappointed.
My Acura MDX 2020 had an issue in which the automatic start-stop system sometimes not manage to start the engine after stopping.
Start n stop button not working right shuts off and hard to start
Email Acura did an update to software for vehicle stalling, but the problem isn't fixed. I have notified the dealer twice and no return call. I am a widow, travel alone and am afraid this vehicle will fail when I'm alone. I was slowing to stop at a stop sign and the car just shut off.
Hi, My 2020 Acura MDX has a problem with a Start/Stop sytem malfunction, sometime it fails to start after start/stop system activated either at the stop sign, red light or non moving traffic on the highway. I have to put it to the park and restart my car. It is very unsafe.
This is the third time this has happened to me and I am very concerned and will be taking my car to Acura YET AGAIN for a checkup. I was driving with my kids in the car and stopped at a red light. When the light changed, I put my foot on the gas and noticed that my car would not move. That’s when I looked down and saw that the car was in neutral. I tried to put it back in drive and it kept telling me to “Shift to Park” and would not let me shift. I panicked as I had several cars behind me on a very busy road but I put my emergency lights on to signal that my car was not operable. After trying again 3 times and turning the car off completely/using keys to lock/unlock doors, it finally turned on and I could drive it again. I took my car to Acura about this in the past and they advised they could not replicate the error and that it was most likely my battery. My battery was changed and I’ve had this happen 2 times again.
Acura has failed to repair my vehicle with a known recall for a year. I am told they're prioritizing symptomatic vehicles and have no ETA on all others. Why have a recall of a safety feature and not actually handle the recall timely. I prefer not to wait for an injury or incident before this is given the proper attention.
Driving on the highway when suddenly I had lost all power and then the check engine light flashed. I was stranded for hours waiting for.a tow truck and freezing temperatures with no power to my vehicle. It was towed to the nearest Honda dealer and was told I had a complete engine failure and needed a new engine for $10,000.
1.17.25 My check engine light came on with the following lights: Emissions System Problem Electric Parking Brake Problem
I'm not sure if there is a problem with any of the components, but the radar sensor malfunction impacted the vehicle's braking system. Situation: On [XXX], I was driving with my wife and her nephew from my home (Ankeny, IA) to Indiana on [XXX] [XXX] and [XXX] [XXX] . It was snowing that day. As usual, there were other vehicles on the highway, semi-trucks, pickup trucks, cars. The snow was splashing on to my front bumper, lights, radar sensor and windshield. As it was snowing, I did not engage the cruise control feature. We were around 30 miles from Iowa City, I was passing a semi-truck, a message was displayed on the dash to clean the radar sensor. I thought of pulling over in a safe spot to clean it up. At the same time, "front collision off" and "brake system" icon lite up. The road also changed from downhill to uphill. Suddenly, the vehicle started swaying in my lane, towards the semi-truck wheels and towards the guard rails. I was able to control the steering and come to a stop. That was a near death experience. I got my breath for a minute and cleared the radar sensor. After cleaning the radar sensor, the vehicle was driving fine going up and down the rolling hills of Iowa. Concern: Why a blocked radar sensor should impact the braking system? I understood the impact to adaptive cruise control and front collision features. Are the traction control, ABS, or some other system disabled due to malfunction of the radar sensor? Can the radar sensor wires being bad disables the braking ability? The contact owns a 2020 Acura MDX. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V751000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
The vehicle stalled and was unable to start again, Called AAA , they jump started but when I went to dealership they said it wasn't the battery. The car electrical electric system was flashing. The breaks won't release. This is not the first time. My car is currently in Acura service for 5 days and they can't figure out what the problem is. My friends car also has had similar issues. I have a video of the flashing indicators. The car has only 33k miles.
There is a clear engine knock. I have a recording of it both on video and audio, my engine performance and gas mileage has gotten worse. I picked up on the sound about 6 weeks ago and called (Mueller Acura), said I would have it checked at the next oil change. The dealer (Mueller Acura of Merrillville) has had my Acura MDX, for two days two weeks ago and for the last 7 days, currently. The didn’t tear down the engine completely. But they told me they had their master mechanic and Honda’s (from another shop Team Honda) Master mechanic came down and used a camera and I have a bad tensioner, bad rockers, and a bad cam shaft. I’ve been speaking with an outside mechanic who is a Honda certified Master mechanic who now runs an independent shop. Acura, says I have a bad camshaft, bad rockers, and bad tensioner. They said I need all of those replaced as well as the $3000 100K service. They are deeply discounting what they quoted me because I’ve documented well and made so many trips out there to physically show them the engine knock (right now they want $3606 to fix and then they will listen again). They finally heard it at the back of the engine. I’m in a rental and it’s costing me daily. The independent shop says the correct answer is you have a bad engine and they need to check the crank shaft, the head, and the rod bearings, in addition. He said if I changed the oil myself I would probably see metal particles in the oil and if I fix it I’m wasting my money as the entire engine is in need of replacement. It only has 86K miles on it and should not have these issues. I don’t think I should have to pay, and I need my vehicle back. I’m now without a vehicle and they are demanding I give them an answer by Monday at 7am on whether or not I’m fixing it. They won’t put anything in writing as they want to keep it kept quiet until I make a decision. The service manager is now trying to talk me into trading but not at their dealership. I feel like May need to contact an attorney.
The contact owns a 2020 Acura MDX. The contact stated while coming to a stop, the contact noticed that the vehicle inadvertently slipped into neutral. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact restarted the vehicle several times to shift back into drive. The contact also noticed that the steering wheel had seized, making the steering wheel difficult to turn. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not mad aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 26,000.
The contact owns a 2020 Acura MDX. The contact stated while coming to a complete stop, the vehicle started to stall. The contact stated that after the vehicle came to a stop, the vehicle would not turn on until after several seconds. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was stalling more frequently and was taking longer to restart. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and was diagnosed with alternator failure. The independent mechanic could not find any other cause for the failure. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The local dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.
While at a stoplight, my car notified me of many sensors having "problems" From my understanding, it relates to the front camera located on the windshield. I am unable to use these additional safety features since the problem arose earlier this week. Had this gone out while I was driving, my family and I could have been fatally affected. My cursory research online shows this is a recurring problem that customers need to address independently. All expenses are paid from their own pockets. There were no warnings prior to the system's failure. I have not taken my car in yet for this to be addressed. I am frustrated that this is a known issue with no proactive solution by a brand I had trusted.
I started to here a very light knocking noise on cold starts. I made an appointment with my dealership to check it out. The earliest appoint they had open was a bout a week out. A few days later I was driving on the highway and the knocking noise suddenly became very loud and all the dashboard lights came on. The vehicle lost power and I barely coasted off the highway before the MDX came to a complete stop. I called AAA and had the car towed to the dealer. The next day they called me and told me it had been a connecting rod bearing failure and needed an entire new engine for $25,000.00. I was in total shock. I googled what happened to me online and found this is happening to many acuras and hondas. The dealer said there is absolutely no warranty and they cant do anything even though there are articles online and from NHTSA saying this is a common problem and under investigation. I was forced to replace the engine in my car because I still have a loan on it and dont know what else to do. The engine basically blew up on the highway in heavy traffic and was extremely dangerous and now acura wants nothing to do with the repairs. I think this situation deserves investigation.
My vehicle stalled and the engine cut while I was waiting at a stop light. The engine auto shut-off feature was active at the time of the incident. While sitting a the red light the auto engine feature shut the engine down, which is normal to reserve the use of fuel while at a stop light. When I took my foot off the brake, the vehicle should have restarted. but instead, the vehicle went into N (neutral) and the engine did not restart. I was sitting in the middle of traffic with cars behind me, so I put the emergency signal on, I then put it in P (park) and started the vehicle. This is the second time this has happened. The first time I thought I touched the neutral button by mistake. There were no injuries, but I'm concerned that this could cause a crash in the future,.
Dealership is unable to repair recalls
I brought my 2020 Acura MDX with 61,086 miles on it for a routine service and was informed that the front suspension control arms were failing and needed to be replaced within weeks otherwise it could break causing a safety issue while driving. I have never had a car including prior MDX's that required this to be replaced and when I asked about it, I was told by the dealer and other dealers that I spoke to that is was unusal for this to happen with this many miles but it can. I feel that this is a manufacturer flaw and could be an issue in other MDX's. Again, if I did not go in for routine service at that time, it could have resulted in a safety incident within weeks according to them without notice and there was no mention of this with my prior routine service back in June 2024.
I came to a stop at a stop sign. The start/stop feature activated and the engine shut off. When I lifted my foot off the brake, the engine did not restart (as it's supposed to), and then vehicle automatically shifted itself into neutral (without any of my doing). I put the emergency flashers on to alert other motorists, hoping to avoid a rear-end collision as I was stopped in the middle of an intersection in rush hour traffic. At this time, the battery light illuminated. The engine light illluminated as well. I had to forcefully and unusually push the brakew pedal towards the floor as the vehicle was drifting backwards. At this time, the vehicle would not shift into park. Then "PARK" illuminated, so I attempted to reapply the brake hoping that when I let up from the brake the car would start again (like the usual procedure). The vehicle then shifted into park, but the engine had not restarted. I pressed the on/off red button to follow normal procedures for turning the vehicle off. With my foot remaining on the brake, I pressed the off/on red button to start the engine as usual and the engine finally restarted. Afraid for the safety for myself and other motorists, I put the vehicle into drive and I pushed the button to stop the stop/start system from engaging. No codes generated during this. This is a safety issue for several reasons. First, I was stuck in the middle of a busy intersection where a large volume of cars travel through each day. It was rush hour, so the roads couldn't be more filled. Someone coming around the corner who might not have been prepared to stop could have hit me. Likewise, I could have been hit while in the intersection. Secondly, once the vehicle failed to turn back on, the Washington Grove (Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services - MCFRS) was responding to a vehicular file nearby on I-270 and had I not have been able to move in time, some of their vehicles likely wouldn't have made it through because my vehicle was blocking the lane.
We were traveling far from home on I-44 in Missouri when our 2020 Acura MDX experienced a total engine failure. An engine rod broke and pierced the oil pan causing a sudden loss of engine power. I believe this is related to the NHTSA Investigation #RQ24013, even though the Acura dealership had performed the recall service for this issue a couple months earlier. I suspect the recall service was either performed incorrectly or that a part was not tightened properly, ultimately leading to the engine failure.
Hello, so far 4 to 5 times my MDX automatically shifted to Neutral gear at traffic signals. THen vehicle stops and not moves, i wouldn't be able to change the gear, the vehicle just seems stuck. COuple of times the cars behind almost crashed with my family in the car. ONly options is to power off the car and restart. I took to the dealer, they ran all the tests and nothing found in the debugging. Looking online, looks like many customers have experienced the problem with Acura vehicles [XXX] ). This is a huge safety concern as i feel we are sitting ducks for any fast moving vehicle. Can you please get Honda/Acura to rectify this problem for existing cars and not to play with customer lives INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Issue with Auto Idle Stop. I have had multiple instances of the auto idle stop kicking in and shutting the car off while I am at a stoplight. This has resulted in VERY close calls with me getting rear ended. I have taken the vehicle in to be inspected at an Acura dealership only to be told that they cannot replicate the issue. When this issue occurs, it takes about a minute to get the car working again. The dashboard lights up with a lot of different flashing lights. There was no warning prior to this issue occurring. You cannot permanently shut off the auto idle stop and I should not be expected to remember to do it every time I get into the vehicle. I am afraid that one day this will cause a bad car accident that will lead to myself or my family getting severely injured/killed as other drivers are not aware that the car won't be going. The most recent incident occurred last weekend.
I was in a stop and go traffic on the highway. When at a complete stop car shifted into neutral, I know that I didn’t push neutral because both of my hands were on the steering wheel. Step on gas pedal and car will not go. Tried putting into Drive but will not shift into Drive. Lots of vehicle behind me. It was very scary and dangerous, I could have been rear ended. I had to turn the engine off and restarted again then I was able to put it Drive and go. This issue happened twice, once at a stop sign about a month earlier.
My 2020 MDX with less than 52,000 miles (VIN [XXX] ) has a transmission problem. I serviced the SUV as recommended by the dealer regularly and I take very good care . The transmission jerks several times when taking my foot off the gas to slow down within my short drive to and from work. If I parked on a little uphill or downhill roads and switch gear (either forward or reverse), the car jerks and jumps. I mentioned the issue to the dealer 3 weeks ago but of course couldn’t find any issues. Please advise. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The contact owns a 2020 Acura MDX. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH and attempting to stop, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to respond, and the engine shut off unintendedly. The “Idle Stop” message was displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 54,000.
When the vehicle is idle, for instance at a light, it will shut down. It idles a little, goes into neutral and shuts completely down having to be restarted. I always turn off the automatic start on the vehicle after I start it, so it is not that. It has also done it while driving. It is very unsafe to be driving in traffic and have your vehicle shut down with no warning. Please advise on what actions should be taken to correct this issue.
The contact owns a 2020 Acura MDX. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V064000 (Air Bags); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact had not experienced a failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. Parts distribution disconnect.
When using the a/c while the Auto Idle Stop is engaged, the engine will shut off and not restart. This issue does not happen immediately, at the first cycle of being activated, it's after 3 or more cycles of the AIS being in use, like driving in stop and go traffic for instance. The issue reminds me of a low/dying battery when it happens. Now when I turn off the A/C, the car starts right up like normal. Also if I don't use the A/C, the AIS cycles like normal, like in traffic, l'll have no problems with its performance.
Twice so far my car just turned itself off while stopped in traffic at a stoplight. It would not turn on immediately. Traffic built behind me, steering was locked, brakes not working. After sitting a minute or so it would start again and then the steering would then work, gas accelerator, brakes would all then start to work again. It was scary and unsafe. This needs a recall!!!
Auto Idle Mode - After we've stopped and released the brake to go forward, the car will then shift to neutral by itself instead of restarting to drive. This has happened frequently and is now starting to happen more often. This is a safety issue, especially if you're the last car in line and other cars are traveling 55-60 miles behind you on a major road and see a green light ahead. Each time this happens, we have to turn off the car and try to restart the car, and sometimes this has been iffy and we've had to repeat the process a couple of times. There were no warning lights of problems with any of car components. There have been similar reports of this occurring: [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) contact however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled with no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was able to restart; however, the failure recurred. The dealer was contacted, and the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 136,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
