D LIGHT WAS FLASHING, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, VERY LOUD WHINING NOISE, TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING, RDI WAS ON, PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN DRIVING. TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM, REMOVED OVERHAULED AND REPLACED TRANSMISSION. COMPLETE OVERHAUL PACKAGE, WITH, CLUTCHES, SEALS, RINGS, GASKETS, BANDS, BUSHINGS, THRUST WASHERS, BEARINGS, STEEL PLATES, FLUID AND FILTER. RECONDITION OF TORQUE CONVERTER, RECONDITION SOLENOID. CUSTOMER PAID FOR REPAIRS OUT OF OWN POCKET, CUSTOMER WANTS REIMBURSEMENT, FOR REPAIRS. *TR
MY CARS TRANSMISSION IS STARTING TO ACT UP BY NOT SHIFTING GEARS PROPERLY. WHEN DRIVING THE CAR'S TRANNY WILL SUDDENLY LOCK UP WHEN THE CAR WANTS TO SHIFT. FOR EXAMPLE IM ACCELERATING THE CAR WILL STAY AT 20 MPH THE RPM WILL RISE BUT THE CAR WONT SPEED UP BECAUSE IT HAS LOCKED. I SEARCHED FOR A RECALL ON MY CAR AND THERE WAS A RECALL BACK IN 2004 ON THE TRANNY. I GAVE ACURA A CALL BUT THEY SAID THEY WERE UNABLE TO HELP ME. I DID A CARFAX REPORT AND NO TRANSMISSION CHANGE WAS EVER DONE OR REPORTED BY THE MANUFACTURER. I OWN A 2000 ACURA 3.2 TL. THIS BRINGS ME TO A GREAT CONCERN TO ME AND MY FAMILY SOMETIMES ON THE FREEWAY IT WILL LOCK AND SOMETIMES IT WILL SPEED UP . PLEASE HELP LET ME KNOW WHAT I NEED TO DO. I WENT TO A MECHANIC WHO I PERSONALLY KNOW VERY WELL AND IS A FAMILY FRIEND AND HE TOLD ME IT IS INDEED THE TRANSMISSION. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 ACURA 3.2TL. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE WOULD HESITATE AND THE ENGINE WOULD REV CONTINUOUSLY. THE CONTACT DROVE TO A DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 87,000.
IGNITION KEY SWITCH INTERMITTENTLY WORKS AND THEN DOES NOT; CAUSING THE CAR TO STALL OR NOT START. THE CAR CAN BE INDUCED TO START BY SHAKING (VIBRATING) THE KEYS WHILE THE KEY IS IN THE IGNITION SWITCH SLOT. THIS HAS THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS THE HONDA RECALL OF THE 1999 ACURA TL & CL'S (ALONG WITH VARIOUS OTHER HONDA MODELS). THE SYMPTOMS THAT LED TO THE PREVIOUS RECALL CAUSED THE CAR TO STALL DURING OPERATION PUTTING THE DRIVER (& PASSENGERS) AT RISK OF AN ACCIDENT. MY VEHICLE IS A 2000 ACURA TL AND THUS NOT COVERED BY THE RECALL. *TR
2000 ACURA 3.2 TL HAS TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. CONSUMER BELIEVES THE PROBLEM IS A FAULTY TRANSMISSION FROM DAY ONE AND NOT RELATED TO THE IMPLIED LACK OF ADEQUATE TRANSMISSION MAINTENANCE. *NJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE SECOND TRANSMISSION THAT WAS INSTALLED PRESENTED SEVERE PROBLEMS. SHIFTING FROM SECOND GEAR INTO THIRD GEAR BECAME IMPOSSIBLE, AND THE MAXIMUM SPEED ACHIEVABLE WAS BETWEEN 20 AND 25 MPH. THE CONSUMER HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED AND THE NEXT DAY, THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 ACURA 3.2TL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HIS TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED AT 70,000 MILES DUE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 04V176000 (POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION). THERE WERE NO FAILURES PRIOR TO THE RECALL REPAIR. HE HAD IT REPLACED BECAUSE IT WAS RECOMMENDED. AFTER THE RECALL REPAIR WAS MADE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD SKIP, 'BUCK', AND HESITATE IN FIFTH GEAR. THE MOST RECENT FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT YET BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 138,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 130,000. UPDATED 11/7/08 *CN UPDATED 11/13/08. *JB
CAME OUT TO MY CAR THIS A.M. TO FIND THAT REARVIEW MIRROR HAS GONE BLACK/DARK GREY, OBSTRUCTING REAR VISION. ONLY SMALL OVAL AREA REMAINS CLEAR. *TR
INSIDE REARVIEW MIRROR LEAKED FLUID ON CONSOLE AND CLOTHING. FLUID RESEMBLES TAR BUT DESTROYED THE PLASTIC CONSOLE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 ACURA TL. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PARK THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT REMOVED THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION BEFORE PLACING THE VEHICLE INTO PARK. HE LATER NOTICED THAT HIS VEHICLE HAD ROLLED DOWN THE DRIVEWAY AND CRASHED INTO HIS NEIGHBOR'S LANDSCAPING. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER. PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS BECOMING HARDER TO SHIFT. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 123,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 118,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 ACURA TL. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR A ROUTINE MAINTENANCE CHECK. HE MENTIONED THAT HE DISCOVERED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 05V025000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION:SWITCH) FOR HIS YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE ELECTRONIC IGNITION SYSTEM WOULD BE IN THE DRIVE POSITION AND HE WOULD BE ABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN THE VEHICLE ROLLING. THE CONTACT WAS INDEED ABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION WHILE THE GEAR WAS IN DRIVE. THE DEALER STATED THAT HE WOULD GET BACK TO THE CONTACT REGARDING THE REPAIR AND COVER THE COST IF IT WAS LESS THAN $150. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 110,400.
I OWN A 2000 ACURA TL TYPE S, I AM THE SECOND OWNER OF THIS AUTOMOBILE, I TOOK OWNERSHIP IN 2003. THE CAR SUFFERED A COMPLETE TRANSMISSION FAILURE ON NOVEMBER 11, 2004 WHILE GOING 60MPH. NO LOSS OF CONTROL HAPPENED AS THE CAR SIMPLY WENT INTO WHAT FELT LIKE "NEUTRAL". THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED DUE TO A RECALL ON THEIR TRANSMISSIONS. THE CAR ONLY HAD 71000 MILES ON IT AND WAS THE WARRANTY WAS EXTENDED UNTIL 109000 MILES. ON AUGUST 10TH, 2008, MY CAR ONCE AGAIN SUFFERED A TRANSMISSION FAILURE THIS TIME HAPPENED AS I PULLED OUT OF MY NEIGHBORHOOD AND GOING ABOUT 15MPH. ACURA IS ACKNOWLEDGING THEY HAVE FAULTY TRANSMISSIONS BUT IN MY CASE ARE NOT WILLING TO REPLACE THE PREVIOUSLY REPLACED TRANSMISSION DUE TO IT BEING "OUT OF WARRANTY". THE REPLACED TRANSMISSION ONLY LASTED 58000 MILES, WAY BELOW WHAT SHOULD BE CONSIDERED NORMAL, YET ACURA IS WANTING ME TO PAY FULL PRICE FOR THE FAULTY PART AND LABOR. THERE IS OBVIOUSLY A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE HERE THAT NEED TO BE LOOKED AT, CERTAINLY IF THEY ARE UNWILLING TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE OF HAVING ME REPLACE MY TRANSMISSION AT THEIR COST THEN I WILL NO LONGER BE A HONDA CUSTOMER. HOWEVER, SEEMS THERE ARE TICKING TIME BOMB OUT IN THE ROAD WITH THESE TRANSMISSIONS AND SURPRISED I HAVEN'T HEARD ANYTHING ABOUT RECALLS BEING ISSUED NATIONWIDE FOR THEIR SPECIFIC YEAR OF FAULTY TRANSMISSIONS. *TR
I HAVE THE DEFECTIVE INTERIOR REAR VIEW MIRROR AS REPORTED BY MANY OTHERS. A LARGE CLEAR BUBBLE APPEARED AT THE TOP OF THE MIRROR GLASS AND THE REST OF THE MIRROR WAS TINTED FOR A DAY, AND THE VISION DISTORTED. AFTER READING MANY COMPLAINTS OF OTHER OWNERS EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM I CONTACTED ACURA. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THIS PROBLEM WAS THE FAULT OF THE OEM EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURER, MAGNA DONNELLY. I CONTACTED THEM AND THEY INFORMED ME BY EMAIL THAT THEY ARE NO LONGER REPLACING THESE DEFECTIVE MIRRORS AS OF JAN 1, 2008. I MAY HAVE INJESTED THE FLUID THAT LEAKED FROM THE MIRROR, AS MY COFFEE CUP WAS IN THE HOLDER, NEAR WEAR THE FLUID DESTROYED DRIPPED ONTO AND DESTROYED MY CONSOLE. I AM WORRIED THAT THE FLUID IS TOXIC, SOME REPORTS ON ACURA'S ENGINE STATE THAT IT CONTAINS MERCURY. NOBODY WILL TELL ME WHAT THE FLUID CONSISTS OF. I BELIEVE A RECALL SHOULD BE INACTED TO REPLACE THESE DANGEROUS MIRRORS WITH THE SOLID (NON-LEAK) REPLACEMENT. THE FLUID DOES NOT WASH OFF HANDS EASILY, AND STAINS LEATHER AS WELL. I SEEM TO HAVE DEVELOPED COLD/FLU-LIKE SYMPTOMS SINCE THE INCIDENT - COULD JUST BE A COLD BUT WHO KNOWS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS AN ACURA 3.2TL. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION LOCKED UP. THE VEHICLE VIBRATED EXCESSIVELY AND WAS UNABLE TO SHIFT GEARS PROPERLY. PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE TRANSMISSION GEAR. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THERE WAS A PRIOR RECALL RELATED TO THE TRANSMISSION IN SEPTEMBER OF 2005. THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED IDENTICAL FAILURES AS THE ONES MENTIONED IN THE RECALL. THE RECALL NOTICE WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 180,000.

I CONTACTED THEM AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY ARE NO LONGER REPLACING THESE DEFECTIVE MIRRORS. I ALSO LEARNED FROM RESEARCH THAT THE FLUID THAT LEAKS FROM THESE MIRRORS CAN CAUSE SERIOUS HEALTH PROBLEMS. I BELIEVE A RECALL SHOULD BE IN EFFECT TO REPLACE THESE DANGEROUS MIRRORS. *TR
STARTED HAVING TRANS PROBLEMS AFTER EXTENDED WARRANTY RAN OUT. NOT GOING INTO GEAR, HARSH OR NO SHIFTING, ENGINE REVS HIGH WHILE IN GEAR & DRIVING, D5 FLASHING. SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT ON. HONDA CANADA WOULD NOT COVER ANYTHING. ALTHOUGH DEALER PROVIDED FREE DIAGNOSIS, ESTIMATED TRANS REPLACEMENT WAS GOING TO BE $4000.00. APPROX MILEAGE 125,000 MI. TRADED FOR NEW DOMESTIC (TAURUS). THIS WELL KNOWN PROBLEM SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL RATHER THAN EXTENDING WARRANTY. *TR
THE REARVIEW MIRROR IN MY 2000 ACURA TL EXPLODED AND A BLACK LIQUID SPRAYED THROUGHOUT THE INTERIOR OF MY CAR. IT CORRODED A LARGE HOLE THROUGH MY CENTER CONSOLE (WHICH WAS REPLACED BY ACURA/HONDA AT NO CHARGE), DAMAGED MY LEATHER SEATS AND CARPET (WHICH ACURA/HONDA REFUSED TO REPLACE, BUT DID PERFORM A THOROUGH CLEANING OF BOTH...THE DEALER INVOICE STATED MERCURY LEAK), AND ALSO PROMPTED THE REPLACEMENT OF MY REARVIEW MIRROR (WHICH WAS ALSO REPLACED BY ACURA/HONDA AT NO CHARGE). JUST IMAGINE...IF CHEMICALS ARE TOXIC ENOUGH TO CORRODE A HOLE THROUGH YOUR CENTER CONSOLE, WHAT EFFECT DO THOSE CHEMICALS HAVE ON YOU WHEN INHALED? *TR
WHILE STARTING UP THE CAR AND SHIFTING TO REVERSE, THE CAR ACCELERATED UP TO A HIGH SPEED. I WAS NOT ABLE TO STOP THE CAR UNTIL IT HIT A TREE AND THE IMPACT OF THE CAR CAUSE ME TO HIT THE GEAR SHIFT TO PARK. THE REAR END WAS DAMAGED ENOUGH THAT MY INSURANCE COMPANY TOTALED IT . THE DISTANCE OF TRAVEL BEFORE THE IMPACT WAS LESS THAN 20 FEET. I HAVE HAD TO HAVE A TRANSMISSION REPLACED AS A RESULT OF A SAFETY RECALL (2003). *TR
REAR VIEW MIRROR LEAK THE REAR VIEW MIRROR RUPTURED AND LEAKED A BLACK CORROSIVE LIQUID THAT ATE INTO THE CONSOLE PLASTIC. THEIR SEAMS TO BE A WEIRD CHEMICAL SMELL IN THE CAR NOW FROM THE LEAK. *TR
THE REAR VIEW MIRROR IN 2000 ACURA TL FAILED. WHEN IT FAILED, IT LEAKED SOME CORROSIVE LIQUID ONTO THE GEAR SHIFT OF MY CAR. AS FAR AS I CAN TELL, THIS FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY HEAT AS IT OCCURRED ON A HOT DAY. ACURA HAS DONE NOTHING TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM AND IT SEEMS TO BE HAPPENING TO QUITE A FEW CARS (HTTP://TL.ACURAZINE.COM/FORUMS/SHOWTHREAD.PHP?T=78061&HIGHLIGHT=REAR+VIEW+MIRROR). *TR
2000 ACURA 3.2 TL VIN # [XXX] PURCHASED 8/2004. 2008 THE IGNITION KEY COULD BE REMOVED WITH THE TRANSMISSION IN N POSITION. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME I HAD A MAJOR INCIDENT. RESULTING IN THE CAR ROLLING INTO THE CLOSED GARAGE DOOR, CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE BUMPER AND GARAGE DOOR. PRIOR TO THIS THE CAR HAD ROLLED IN A PARKING LOT WITH THE DOORS LOCKED. LUCKILY IT WAS NOT ON INCLINE AND I WAS ABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR AND BRAKE. THIS PROBLEM CONTINUES TO DATE. ON INVESTIGATION I FOUND THIS MODEL HAD A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. I CALLED ACURA AND THEY APOLOGIZED, STATING IT WAS NOT IN THE RECALL VIN #. I TOOK THE CAR TO AN ACURA DEALER, WHO VERIFIED THE PROBLEM, CALLED ACURA, WHO AGAIN STOOD BY THEIR ORIGINAL DECISION..NOT IN RECALL VIN #. THE PROBLEM REMAINS. I AM EXTREMELY CAREFUL WHEN PARKING TO DOUBLE CHECK THE CAR IS IN PARK, AND BRAKE ON. LUCKILY I HAVE NOT CAUSED INJURY TO PROPERTY OR PERSON, HOWEVER ONLY TO MYSELF TRYING TO UNLOCK A ROLLING CAR AND "JUMP" IN TO STOP IT. FOLLOWING ANOTHER "ROLL AWAY" I CALLED ACURA TODAY...THEY STAND BY THEIR ORIGINAL DECISION. THIS CAR MAY NOT BE IN THEIR RECALL VIN #, HOWEVER, I CANNOT SELL THIS AUTO NOR TRADE IT IN KNOWING IT MAY CAUSE A SERIOUS INJURY TO SOMEONE OR SOMETHING. I FEEL ACURA SHOULD HAVE CORRECTED THE PROBLEM WITH THE INITIAL COMPLAINT, KNOWING THERE WAS A RECALL. WHY DO I SHUT THE CAR OFF IN N. THE TRANSMISSION CAN BE USED MANUALLY OR AUTOMATIC. WHEN IN AUTOMATIC POSITION, AND SHIFTED UP TO PARK POSITION, IT WILL STOP AT NEUTRAL, NEEDING TO BE PUSHED TO R AND UP TO PARK. HABIT, BE IT BAD, IS WHEN THE SHIFTER STOPS IT IS GENERALLY IN PARK. I FEEL THIS PROBLEM IS ACURA'S, AND WOULD APPRECIATE ANY ASSISTANCE YOU CAN PROVIDE. YESTERDAY I READ HONDA IS NOW BEING RECALLED FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. THANKYOU. *TR
TRANSMISSION FAILED SUDDENLY. TRANSMISSION WAS DEFECTIVE DESIGN AND PART OF A CLASS ACTION SUIT THAT HONDA SETTLED WITHOUT ADMITTING FAULT. TRANSMISSION HAD A SAFETY RECALL ISSUED TO INSTALL AN OIL JET PUMP ON THE TRANSMISSION. THIS WAS PERFORMED ON MY CAR WITHOUT ANY EXPLANATION TO MY AS TO WHY. *TR
SRS LIGHT COMES ON WHEN PASSENGER RAISES UP FROM SEAT BACK. DEALER DOES NOT REPAIR BUT JUST TURNS LIGHT OFF, WHICH WILL COME BACK ON SHORTLY. DIDN'T SEEM TO BE MUCH OF A PROBLEM UNTIL SERVICE ADVISOR SAID AIR BAGS DO NOT WORK PROPERLY WHEN LIGHT IS ON. IF THAT IS THE CASE, IT SEEMS IT SHOULD BE FIXED INSTEAD OF COVERED UP. *TR
WHILE ENTERING THE HIGHWAY TODAY, I ACCELERATED AND MY 2000 ACURA 3.2 TL WENT FROM AUTOMATIC TO SPORT MODE. I WAS TERRIBLY FRIGHTENED AND THANKED GOD THAT MY SON WAS NOT IN THE CAR. THE D5 AND #3 WERE LIT AT THE SAME TIME. SINCE THE SHIFT WAS IN AUTOMATIC MODE, I COULD NOT SHIFT TO ANY OTHER GEAR. I HAD TAKEN MY CAR TO THE DEALER ABOUT A MONTH AGO BECAUSE OF A STRANGE NOISE WHEN MY CAR WAS IN REVERSE. I TOLD THEM THAT I THOUGHT IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION.THE CAR WAS PLACED ON A MACHINE AND THE DEALER TOLD ME IT WAS MY AIR CONDITIONER. I FOUND IT VERY STRANGE THAT I NEVER HEARD THE NOISE AGAIN AFTER THAT VISIT. I CALLED THE DEALER TODAY AND HE INFORMED ME THAT IT SOUNDED LIKE THE TRANSMISSION. I ASKED HIM WHY THE LAST DIAGNOSTIC TEST DID NOT FIND A PROBLEM WITH MY TRANSMISSION (MY CAR HAD ALREADY BEEN SLUGGISH, SLOW TO SHIFT INTO GEAR, ETC). HE INFORMED ME THAT THE TEST WOULD NOT HAVE FOUND ANYTHING IF IT JUST HAPPENED. I HAVE FAITHFULLY KEPT MY CAR MAINTAINED. NOW THAT I AM ABOUT 15,000 MILES OVER THE WARRANTY, I DO NOT THINK THAT I SHOULD BE HAVING THIS PROBLEM. WHEN MY CAR WAS STILL UNDER THE ORIGINAL WARRANTY, I ASKED THE DEALER WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF MY TRANSMISSION WENT OUT AFTER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY RAN OUT. HE INFORMED ME THAT IT WOULD BE HANDLED ON A CASE BY CASE BASIS. I WILL SEE TOMORROW. SINCE OWNERS ARE STILL HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THESE CARS, EVIDENTLY THE EXTENDING OF THE WARRANTY DID NOT HELP. PEOPLES' LIVES ARE STILL IN DANGER.*CN
MY KEY CAN BE PULLED FROM THE IGNITION WITHOUT FIRST PUTTING THE SHIFTER IN PARK. IF THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ISN'T APPLIED THE CAR CAN ROLL BUT CANNOT BE STEERED. IT IS DANGEROUS. ACURA AND HONDA HAVE A NUMBER OF RECALLS FOR THIS ISSUE, INCLUDING SOME 2000 TL VINS BUT APPARENTLY DOESN'T INCLUDE MY VIN UNDER THE RECALL. THE DESCRIPTION OF THE RECALL EXACTLY MATCHES MY SYMPTOMS AND IT IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR. ONSET DATE AND MILEAGE ARE APPROXIMATE. I TOOK MY CAR INTO ONE OF THE LOCAL ACURA DEALERSHIPS BECAUSE MY CAR WOULD DOWNSHIFT, AND VIBRATE WHEN DRIVING. AT THE SAME TIME, I WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY MODEL CAR FOR THE TRANSMISSION, (WHICH I SUSPECTED THE PROBLEM TO BE). MY CAR WAS DIAGNOSED, BUT TOLD IT WASN'T TRANSMISSION. AFTER SEVERAL INSTANCES OF SIMILAR EXPERIENCES I TAKE MY VEHICLE IN TO ANOTHER LOCAL DEALERSHIP, AND STATE THE SAME ISSUE. ALWAYS TOLD THE SAME THING, NOT YOUR TRANSMISSION, NOW AFTER SEVERAL VISITS AND REPAIRS LATER THEY NOW DIAGNOSED IT TO BE MY TRANSMISSION. MY FIRST VISIT WAS IN 2005, I WAS WITHIN WARRANTY GUIDELINES FROM THIS COMPANY, ALL OTHER VISITS STEM IN FEB. 2007 AND AROUND 112,000 MILES. 3000 MILES OVER THE REQUIRED MAINTENANCE REQUIREMENT, NOW 6,000 MILES LATER THEY SAY DIFFERENT. THEY OFFERED TO PAY 50% AS A GOOD WILL GESTURE, BUT I FEEL ALL ALONG THEIR TECH'S KNEW, BUT KEPT PUTTING A BANDAID ON THE PROBLEM UNTIL NOW, I'VE HAD SEVERAL THINGS REPAIRED AND I DON'T THINK THEY COULD COME UP WITH ANYTHING TO REPLACE. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 ACURA TL. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED TO APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH WITHOUT WARNING. AS OF OCTOBER 12, 2007, THE DEALER HAD NOT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS RECALL WORK PERFORMED FOR THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION IN 2004, HOWEVER, THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER WAS UNAVAILABLE. SHE FELT THAT THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CAUSED THE CURRENT FAILURE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 138,000. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY THE DEALER WHO STATED THE TRANSMISSION FAILED YET AGAIN AND THIS IS THE THIRD TRANSMISSION FOR THIS VEHICLE. UPDATED 11/1/07 *TR
I TOOK MY 2000 ACURA TL INTO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. WHEN I PICKED IT UP FROM THE DEALERSHIP 3 DAYS LATER THERE WAS A DIVIDING LINE IN THE TOP OF THE MIRROR. ABOVE THE LINE AND THE MIRROR IS CLEAR, BELOW THE LINE THE MIRROR IS TINTED. THERE APPEARS TO BE FLUID THAT HAS LEAKED OUT FROM IN BETWEEN TWO PIECES OF GLASS (ONE BEING THE ACTUALLY MIRROR GLASS AND THE OTHER BEING A SECOND LAYER A GLASS THAT TRAPS THIS FLUID. I HAVE TO KEEP SOMETHING IN THE CAR TO KEEP THE LIQUID FROM DRIPPING ON THE INTERIOR OF THE CAR, BECAUSE IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THIS FLUID WILL DESTROY PLASTIC AND LEATHER. I HAVE CONTACTED THE MIRROR'S MANUFACTURER MAGNA-DONNELLY, INC. I HOPE THEY WILL SEND ME A FREE REPLACEMENT MIRROR AND THAT MY INTERIOR IS NOT RUINED BEFORE THE REPLACEMENT ARRIVES. *JB

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAS FAILED AGAIN THREE YEARS LATER. ACURA STATED THAT THE REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION WAS RE-MANUFACTURED AND THEY WOULD HAVE A CASE MANAGER REVIEW HER COMPLAINT. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 160,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
I PURCHASED A 2000 ACURA 3.2 TL IN APRIL 2005. A FEW MONTHS AGO, I BEGAN NOTICING MY CAR JERKING WHEN I WOULD BACK UP. IT WAS ALSO STALLING AS I BEGAN TO ACCELERATE. I DECIDED TO DO RESEARCH ON THE CAR AND I FOUND THAT THE TRANSMISSIONS WERE FAULTY. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE ACURA COMPANY AND I WAS INSTRUCTED TO TAKE MY CAR TO A LOCAL ACURA DEALERSHIP AND GET A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK. AFTER THE DIAGNOSTIC CHECK WAS COMPLETED, IT WAS CALLED TO MY ATTENTION THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING. ACURA OFFERED TO PAY 25% OF THE COST WHICH WOULD HAVE LEFT A BALANCE OF $3000 FOR ME TO PAY. I DECLINED BECAUSE I FELT LIKE THEY SHOULD PAY THE ENTIRE COST BEING THAT IT WAS AN ERROR ON THEIR PART. IT WAS EXPLAINED TO ME THAT MY EXTENDED WARRANTY HAD ENDED ON THE CAR THAT STEMMED FROM A CLASS ACTION SUIT. I TOLD THEM I WAS UNAWARE OF THE SUIT AND THEY REPLIED THAT I SHOULD HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED AS THE OWNER. I THEN CALLED THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR. THE DEALERSHIP WAS UNAWARE OF THE RECALL AND STATED THEY WERE NEVER CONTACTED ABOUT THE RECALL. I CALLED BACK AND WAS GIVEN THE "RUN AROUND". I CONTACTED CONSUMER AFFAIRS. I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM CONSUMER AFFAIRS. AFTER CONSUMER AFFAIRS CONTACTED ACURA, I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM CONSUMER AFFAIRS STATING THAT MY CAR WAS NOT SERVICED BECAUSE THERE WAS ANOTHER PROBLEM OTHER THAN THE TRANSMISSION. HOWEVER, THIS INFORMATION IS FALSE- I HAVE THE DIAGNOSTIC REPORT STATING THAT MY TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING. *TR

ADDITIONALLY, THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN PRESSURE WAS APPLIED TO THE FRONT DRIVER OR PASSENGER SIDE DOORS, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 ACURA TL. THE CONTACT RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE # 04V176000 (POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION) AT 65,000 MILES. HE TOOK HIS VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY PERFORMED A REVISION TO THE OIL COOLER AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS FINE. AT 105,000 MILES, THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND WAS REPLACED BY ACURA. THE CONTACT IS CURRENTLY EXPERIENCING FAILURE WITH THE VEHICLE, WHICH HE BELIEVES TO BE THE TRANSMISSION. HE BELIEVES THAT ONE TRANSMISSION IS BEING REPLACED WITH ANOTHER TRANSMISSION THAT WILL FAIL IN A COUPLE OF YEARS. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 124,000.
TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO SLIP DURING NORMAL DRIVING, I THEN RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET AND LEARNED THAT THIS WAS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT AND I BECAME CONCERNED FOR MY FAMILY'S SAFETY DUE TO DESCRIPTIONS OF OTHER PEOPLES HISTORY WITH THIS CAR. I TOOK CAR TO DEALER AND THEY DETERMINED THAT A REPLACEMENT WAS WARRANTED. PCM UNIT WAS ALSO REPLACED. THEY REPLACED TRANSMISSION WITH A RE-MANUFACTURED UNIT, OLD PART IS NOT AVAILABLE. *TR

I TRIED TO PUT MY CAR IN REVERSE AFTER STARTING IT ONE DAY TO NO AVAIL. I PLACED A SCREW DRIVER IN THE SHIFT LOCK POSITION AS THE OWNER'S MANUAL STATED. I CALLED THE ACURA DEALERSHIP AND TOLD THEM THE PROBLEM. THEY DIDN'T HAVE A LOANER CAR AVAILABLE AND ASKED ME TO COME IN A DAY LATER. ON MY WAY TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR MY APPOINTMENT THE NEXT DAY, I HAD COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE WHILE GOING 65 MILES AN HOUR ON A TOLLWAY. THE NEXT 14 MILES I TRIED TO GET THE CAR TO SLOW DOWN. I TRIED TO SHIFT TO NEUTRAL AND PUT THE CAR IN ACCESSORY, BUT NOTHING WORKED INCLUDING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. IN FACT THE CAR ACCELERATED WITHOUT ME EVER TOUCHING THE ACCELERATOR. FINALLY I EXITED OFF THE HIGHWAY AND PURPOSELY WRECKED THE CAR TO AVOID INJURY TO OTHERS AT SUCH A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. THE CAR WAS ON FIRE WHEN I FINALLY STOPPED. LUCKILY I WAS ALIVE. I BROKE MY FOOT AND POPPED 2 VERTEBRAE IN MY NECK. *TR

THE AUTHORIZED DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THIS TIME. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE 150,000.
WHILE THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE TRANSMISSION OF 200-2004 ACURA TLS, IT APPEARS THAT THE REMEDY IDENTIFIED BY THE MANUFACTURER DOES NOT FULLY RESOLVE THE ISSUE, AND WHILE THE MANUFACTURER GRACIOUSLY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO COVER UP TO 100,000 MILES, THE FAILURES OF THE TRANSMISSION AS DOCUMENTED WIDELY ON THE INTERNET GENERALLY TAKE PLACE BETWEEN 100 AND 110 THOUSAND MILES AS WAS THE CASE WITH THE TRANSMISSION IN MY VEHICLE WHICH FAILED AT 103,000 MILES. INSTITUTING SUCH A REMEDY REALIZING THE MINIMAL VALUE TO CONSUMERS OF THE REMEDY IS SIMPLY UNETHICAL. *JB

OPD PASSENGER VOLTAGE ISSUE CAUSING SRS RESTRAINT SYSTEM TO FAIL. KNOWN ISSUES WITH ALL MAKES AND MODELS FROM 1999 TO PRESENT. *NM

ACURA 3.2 TL 2000 WAS PURCHASED IN 2000; THE FIRST TRANSMISSION WENT OUT SOMETIME WITHIN THAT FIRST YEAR. DEALER REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION. THE SECOND TRANSMISSION WENT OUT IN SAME MANNER IN 2003; THE DEALER REPLACED THAT TRANSMISSION. THE RECALL ON THE TRANSMISSION WAS DONE IN 2004; I TOOK MY CAR TO DEALER IN RESPONSE TO RECALL; THE WORK WAS DONE IN JULY OR AUGUST OF THAT YEAR. RECENTLY, WAS DRIVING MY CAR AND IT BEGAN TO EXHIBIT SAME PROBLEMS I HAVE HAD WITH THE TRANSMISSION EACH TIME CAR BECAME INOPERABLE. THE CAR GOES TO 2 RPM AND THEN GIVES A JERK; IT WILL SHIFT AND THEN GO TO 4 RPM WHERE IT GETS STUCK AND WILL HAVE LARGER JERK (VERY UNNERVING). THEN THE CAR WILL NOT SHIFT AT ALL AND MOVES VERY SLOWLY. I HAD A LINE OF CARS MOVING BEHIND ME ON THE LAST OCCURRENCE AND I ALSO HAD TO CROSS SOME VERY BUSY STREETS. THIS MODEL IS VERY UNSAFE AND I DON'T BELIEVE IT CAN BE REPAIRED AS THIS HAS HAPPENED FOR THE FOURTH TIME -- EVEN AFTER THE RECALL AND THE PARTS WERE INSTALLED TO MAKE IT SAFE. THE FIRST OCCURRENCE WAS ABOUT SEVEN TO TEN MONTHS AFTER ORIGINAL PURCHASE (JANUARY TO MAY, 2001). THE SECOND OCCURRENCE WAS SEPTEMBER, 2003. NOW THE LAST OCCURRENCE IN JULY, 2006. HOW MANY TIMES DOES A TRANSMISSION HAVE TO BE REPAIRED, REPLACED, RECALLED BEFORE IT IS SAFE TO OPERATE. *NM
ON A VERY HOT DAY, I ENTERED MY CAR TO DISCOVER A BLACK OIL SUBSTANCE THAT MELTED AROUND MY GEAR SHIFT. LOOKED IN MY REAR-VIEW MIRROR AND IT WAS VERY BLURRY, THEN LOOKED UNDERNEATH AND SAW WHERE THE SUBSTANCE CAME OUT OF THE MIRROR. IT ALSO SPLASH ON MY LEATHER SEATS. ACURA DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS LIQUID CRYSTAL THAT IS USED TO DIM THE MIRROR. HE SAID IT WOULD NOT BE COVERED DUE TO THE MILEAGE AND YEAR. (MAYBE IF IT WAS 50K MILES OR LESS) WHICH DIDN'T MAKE MUCH SENSE TO ME. HE SAID NORMALLY IT WILL MAKE A BROWN LINE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE MIRROR (WHICH MINE HAS).. THIS LEAD ME TO BELIEVE THIS PROBLEM IS NOT SO UNCOMMON.

I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A VERY HEALTH, ATHLETIC FEMALE, BUT RECENTLY DEVELOPED A CONSTANT LOW-GRADE FEVER, A KIDNEY INFECTION, AND BLOOD IN MY URINE. IF THIS SUBSTANCE CAN BURN A HOLE THROUGH MY GEAR SHIFT PLATE, IS IT POSSIBLE THAT THE TOXIC FUMES HAVE AFFECTED MY HEALTH AND THE HEALTH OF MY DAUGHTER? DT: THE CONTACT RECEIVED NHTSA RECALL, 04V176000 CONCERNING AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FAILURE. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP, AND THEY STATED THE GEARS EXPERIENCED DISCOLORATION DUE TO OVERHEATING. ACCORDING TO THE RECALL INFORMATION THE TRANSMISSION SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED. THE DEALERSHIP WHERE SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE STATED IT DID NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM ,AND ADDED THE REVISION TO THE OIL COOLER RETURN LINE. THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP STAYED LIT. THE VEHICLE JERKED BEFORE MOVING. ALSO, IT WILL NOT GO AS SOON AS IT WAS PUT IN GEAR. THE GEAR INDICATOR LIGHT FLICKERED ON AND OFF WHEN THIS OCCURRED. *AK
I HAD THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED IN MY 2000 ACURA TL UNDER THE NHTSA REQUIRED EXTENDED WARRANTY. I HAD 63,000 MILES ON THE CAR AT THE TIME. WHEN THE DEALER REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION THEY ADVISED ME THAT THE FRONT MOTOR MOUNT WAS BROKEN AND ASKED IF I WANTED IT FIXED. I TOLD THEM TO REPLACE THE MOTOR MOUNT, AT A COST OF $163.43. I HAVE OWNED OVER 17 VEHICLES IN MY LIFETIME AND NEVER HAD A BROKEN MOTOR MOUNT. MY WIFE AND I ARE RETIRED AND DO NOT IN ANY WAY DRIVE THE CAR ANY ANY SORT OF ROUGH MANNER. THE CAR HAS NEVER BEEN ANY ANY ACCIDENTS EITHER. I QUESTION WHY A VEHICLE WITH ONLY 63,000 MILES ON IT SHOULD COME UP WITH A BROKEN ENGINE MOUNT. IS THIS ANOTHER ACURA DEFECT? *NM
VEHICLE IS A 2000 ACURA 3.2TL WITH 25,000 MILES. CAR "IMMOBILIZER" (ANTI-THEFT) SYSTEM ACTIVATED PREVENTING CAR FROM STARTING. ALL KEYS LOCKED OUT, SO SYSTEM ITSELF AT FAULT. THERE WAS NO ATTEMPT TO STEAL CAR (IT WAS PARKED IN GARAGE AT THE TIME). IF THIS HAD HAPPENED IN A REMOTE AREA, DRIVER AND PASSENGERS WOULD HAVE BEEN STRANDED. ACURA SAID THAT THE ONLY SOLUTION WAS TO HAVE CAR TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. I BELIEVE THE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM IS FAULTY AND SHOULD BE RECALLED FOR REPLACEMENT OR REMOVAL. *NM
REAR VIEW MIRROR IMAGE DISTORTED, BLURRED, AND NOT REFLECTIVE OF THE ACTUAL DISTANCE/SEPARATION FROM FOLLOWING VEHICLES. ALSO OCCURRED ON MY 1999 ACURA 3.2TL. *TR
I AM THE OWNER OF A 2000 ACURA 3.2 TL THAT WAS JERKING BETWEEN 2ND AND 3RD GEARS. THIS PAST SATURDAY ON MY WAY TO WORK ON A BUSY CITY STREET WHILE DRIVING 45 MILES PER HOUR THE CAR ABRUPTLY DOWNSHIFTED AND THE RPM WENT PAST THE 8. I WAS ABLE TO COAST MY VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND HAVE ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TO TOW IT TO MY LOCAL DEALER, STEVENSON ACURA OF WILMINGTON, NC. THE DEALER DID AN INSPECTION AND ADVSD ME SINCE MY CAR HAS OVER 100K, 146K TO BE EXACT I AM NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND MY SECOND GEAR LOOKS GOOD AND THIS IS NOT A PART OF THE RECALL AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. KNOWING 5 OTHER PEOPLE THAT OWN THE SAME MODEL CAR AND THE SAME EXACT OCCURENCE HAS HAPPENED I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT THIS IS CAUSED BY NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR, ESPECIALLY SINCE I PREVIOUSLY OWNED A 1998 3.2TL THAT HAD OVER 198K WHEN I TRADED IT IN AND EXPERIENCED NO TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS AT ALL.BASED ON PREVIOUS COMPLAINTS ON YOUR SITE IT APPEARS THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT AND I FEEL VERY VIOLATED BY A COMPANY THAT I HAVE BEEN SO LOYAL TO. THIS IS ABSURD!!!!!
ACURA DOES NOT WHANT TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION THAT SHOUD BE UNDER WARANTIE BECAUSE THEY SAID THA THE CAR IS WHITH A SALVAGE TITLE AND THEY DONT RESPONT TO RECALLS OR WARANTIES OF THOSE CARS.
