TWO DAYS AGO, I BEGAN FEELING SLIPPING AND SURGING IN MY TRANSMISSION. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED AND SCHEDULED A SERVICE APPOINTMENT. YESTERDAY, WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 50 - 60 MPH, MY CAR UNEXPECTEDLY DOWNSHIFTED TO SECOND GEAR, CAUSING THE CAR TO QUICKLY SLOW DOWN WITHOUT CARS BEHIND ME BEING ALERTED BY BRAKE LIGHTS. THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT, AS THE CARS BEHIND ME WERE ABLE TO AVOID ME.
REAR VIEW MIRROR LEAKED CORROSIVE FLUID ON CENTER CONSOLE.
2000 ACURA TL REPAIRS MADE TO THE OIL KIT.***NO ANSWER REQUIRED***. *MR LESS THAN 400 MILES AFTER THE REPAIR, THE KIT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE IN ONE OF THE CONNECTING HOSES THAT RESULTED IN A LOSS OF ALL TRANSMISSION FLUID. *SC
OIL IN REAR VIEW MIRROR EXPLODED AND SPLATTERED ON BOTH FRONT SEATS OF THE CAR. LUCKILY IT HAPPENED OVERNIGHT WHEN I WAS NOT DRIVING THE CAR OR IT COULD HAVE CREATED A TRAFFIC ACCIDENT. DEALER WAS NOT SURPRISED APPARENTLY HAPPENED IN QUITE A FEW INSTANCES.
ACURA TL EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH TRANSMISSION.*MR AT 49,000 THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED FOR FREE. ON FEB 25, 2005 THE CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE FOR A TRANSMISSION RECALL, HOWEVER HE WAS TOLD THE PART THAT FAILED ON HIS CAR WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. *JB
DT: THE CONSUMER STATED THAT HE OWNS A 2000 ACURA TL. HE STATED WHILE DRIVING, THE ACCELERATOR BECAME STUCK AND CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. THE CONSUMER HAS HEARD OF OTHER COMPLAINTS SUCH AS A ACURA MDX WITH THE SAME ENGINE. BOTH VEHICLE WAS IN THE BODY SHOP AT THE SAME TIME FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT HE HAD BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKE AND HE STILL COULD NOT STOP THE VEHICLE, THE ONLY REASON WHY HE STOPPED WAS BECAUSE HE HIT A TREE. *JB
I RECENTLY HAD A RECALL ATTENDED TO ON MY 2000 ACURA WHEN THE TECHNICIAN TOLD ME THAT MY ENGINE MOUNTS NEEDED REPLACEMENT! I WAS QUITE SURPRISED AT THIS EXPECIALLY WHEN HE THEN TOLD ME THAT THIS WAS AN INHERENT PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR AND HE DOES 10-15 PERF WEEK!!! THE MOUNTS, HE SAID, ARE DESIGNED TO LAST BETWEEN 70-90000 MILES, AND SINCE I HAD 87000 IT WAS NO SURPRISE TO HIM. I HAVE HAD MANY CARS AND NEVER RAN INTO THIS PROBLEM, WITH AN INHERENT ENGINE MOUNT DEFECT. IF THIS IS THE CASE, I FEEL THE DESIGN SHOULD BE CORRECTED AND WE, THE OWNERS SHOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE $458(AT THIS TIME) IS COSTS TO FIX THEIR MISTAKE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONCERN. RECENTLY, EVEN WHEN DRIVING AT ABOUT 35 MILES AN HOUR AND CAME TO A CROSSROAD AND BRAKED, THE CAR KEPT ACCELARATING. DESPITE HAVING THE BRAKES PRESSED THE CAR WAS BEHAVING LIKE A WILD BRONCO. EVEN WHEN I SHIFTED THE AUTOMATIC GEAR TO PARK, THE ENGINE WAS RACING. AFTER I PUT OF THE IGNITION & THEN RE-STARTED, THE PROBLEM DISAPPEARED. *AK
CONSUMER RECEIVED RECALL 04V176000 CONCERNING AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. MECHANIC PERFORMED THE WORK, BUT A WEEK LATER THE PROBLEM RECURRED AND HAD NOT BEEN RESOLVED. CONSUMER WAS DRIVING 55 MPH WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD AND REMAINED ON. A LOUD CLANKING NOISE WAS HEARD COMING FROM THE FRONT. CONSUMER HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. SERVICE MANAGER BRYANT BOMB. *AK
NHTSA RECALL 04V176000. ACURA ISSUED AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION RECALL. THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO VIN ALTHOUGH IT EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM AS THOSE VEHICLES THAT WERE RECALLED. *AK
THE CONSUMER WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION. THE OWNER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS TOLD THAT DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAS MORE THAN 100,000 MILES IT WAS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THE RECALL THAT WAS INITIATED BY THE MANUFACTURER. PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *JB
RECEIVED RECALL 04V076000 TRANSMISSION FAILURES: WHILE DRIVING TRANSMISSION EXPLODED NEARLY CRASHED. ALSO BLEW UP CATASTROPHICALLY AGAIN. *BF THE CONSUMERS WIFE NEARLY CRASHED WHEN THE TRANSMISSION IN HER VEHICLE EXPLODED AND SHE TRIED TO AVOID GETTING HIT OR CRASHING INTO SOMETHING. PRIOR TO THE RECALL, THE CONSUMER SPENT OVER 2700 TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REBUILT. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY INSTALLED AN OIL JET KIT, CONSEQUENTLY 500 MILES LATER THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AGAIN. *JB
TRANSMISSION RECALL OFFER TO REPAIR VEHICLE BY DEALERSHIP WAS DECLINED. PROBLEM PRE-EXISTED AND KIT WAS INSTALLED TO REMEDY PROBLEM IN OCTOBER 2004. PROBLEM STILL EXISTED AFTER INSTALLATION..
AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON INTERMITTENTLY. DEALER SERVICED THE VEHICLE. THEN, CONSUMER REAR ENDED A VEHICLE AT 50 MPH. A RECALL LETTER WAS LATER RECEIVED BY THE CONSUMER ON THE AIR BAG MODULE. NHTSA RECALL 02V080000. *AK
2000 ACURA 3.2TL, A/C BLOWER FAN STOPPED. *BF THE FAN MOTOR RECEPTACLE AND NYLON PLUG SHOWED EVIDENCE OF EXCESS HEAT AND THE CONNECTOR PINS WERE BURNT. *JB
I RECENTLY BOUGHT A 2000 ACURA 3.2 TL WITH A 5-SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WITH 87,000 MILES ON IT. MY TRANSMISSION HAD A BIG PAUSE WHEN SHIFTING FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE, HARD, INCONSISTENT SHIFTING, AND IT WOULD NOT SHIFT CORRECTLY WHEN GOING BETWEEN 2ND AND 3RD GEAR (AROUND 25 MPH). WHEN THIS HAPPENED BETWEEN 2ND AND 3RD GEARS, THE CAR WOULD JERK SEVERLY AND WOULD ONLY STOP IF I EITHER BRAKED OR PRESSED ON THE GAS. IN HEAVY TRAFFIC 2 WEEKS AGO, MY CAR STALLED AND THE CAR BEHIND ME ALMOST REAR-ENDED MY CAR, HOWEVER, MY CAR STARTED UP AGAIN AND I BROUGHT IT INTO WALKER ACURA IN METARIE, LA. THEY CONFIRMED THAT MY TRANSMISSION WAS FAILING (ONLY 4 MONTHS AFTER I HAD BOUGHT THE CAR AND WITH 92,000 MILES ON IT) AND THAT IT WOULD BE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY ALONG WITH AN "AXLE STUCK IN THE TRANSMISSION". THEY HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEM, HOWEVER, MY NEW TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN IN MY CAR FOR ABOUT A WEEK NOW (ONLY 500 MILES ON IT, IT'S ONLY WARRANTIED FOR 12,000) AND IT IS ALREADY SHOWING SIGNS OF FAILING - PAUSE WHEN SHIFTING FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE, AND THE TRANSMISSION ALSO DOWNSHIFTS INTO A LOWER GEAR (EVEN IF IT DOESN'T NEED TO) AS SOON AS I TAKE MY FOOT OFF OF THE GAS PEDAL. MY NEW TRANSMISSION HAS ALSO MADE MY CAR ALOT SLOWER THAN IT WAS WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT IT. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE MY CAR, I DON'T FEEL SAFE IN IT BECAUSE OF MY PREVIOUS TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION AND MY BEGINNING PROBLEMS WITH MY BRAND-NEW ONE. I WOULD HAVE NOT BOUGHT THIS CAR IF I WOULD HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS, AND I WOULD HAVE NOT KNOWN ABOUT THEM IF IT WEREN'T FOR AN ONLINE FORUM FOR TL OWNERS. ACURA DID NOT SEND ME ANY TYPE OF NOTIFICATION ABOUT THEIR TRANSMISSION INSPECTION BEFORE MY TRANSMISSION FAILED. IF ACURA DOESN'T DO SOMETHING DRASTIC ABOUT THIS PROBLEM SOON, FATALITIES MAY OCCUR, AND REGARDLESS, I'M NEVER BUYING ANOTHER ACURA OR HONDA AGAIN. I THOUGHT I WAS BUYING A SAFE, DEPENDABLE CAR, BUT IT LOOKS LIKE THAT IS THE FARTHEST THING FROM WHAT I ENDED UP WITH. *AK
WHEN THE CONSUMER STARTED THE VEHICLE AND SHIFTED FROM PARK TO REVERSE A LOUD KNOCKING NOISE WAS HEARD FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE CONSUMER INFORMED THE MECHANIC THAT THIS VEHICLE WAS ON RECALL. THE MECHANIC TOLD THE CONSUMER THE VEHICLE WAS NOT APART OF THE RECALL. PLEASE FILL IN ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *JB
WHILE DRIVING ABS, AND THE OVEDRIVE LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD AND REMAINED ON. CONSUMER DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE SOLENOID SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK PASSENGER SIDE REAR FENDER AND MUDD FLAP DAMAGED. TREAD HIT THE 5TH WHEEL OF THE TRAILOR. THE VEHICLE STARTED BUCKING AND FISH TAILING AS TREAD SEPARATED FROM THE TIRE IN ONE PEICE. THE TIRE DID NOT GO FLAT. BOTH VEHICLES HAD TO BE REPAIRED *TC
I'M AN OWNER OF A 2000 ACURA TL3.2, AND FOR THE FIRST TIME IN OVER A DECADE OF BEING A TRUE LOYAL CUSTOMER OF ACURA/HONDA, I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING AN ACURA MADE VEHICLE DUE TO THE DEFECTIVE TRANMISSION. MY 2 PREVIOUS ACURAS WERE GREAT, BOTH HAD IN EXCESS OF 200K BEFORE I TRADED THEM IN AND HAD NO PROBLEM WITH THE TRANMISSION WHATSOEVER. BECAUSE OF COMPANY'S FIRST FAILED ATTEMPT AT MAKING A 5 SPEED TIPTRONIC TRANMISSION IT DOESN'T MEAN THAT THE COMPANY SHOULD ACT IRRESPONSIBLE AND ENDANGER ITS CUSTOMERS' LIVES IN THE PROCESS. WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING, THE TRANMISSION IN MY VEHICLE GOT LOCKED UP FOR A GOOD 2 TO 3 SECONDS SEVERAL TIMES WHILE I WAS DRIVING. IT FELT LIKE I HIT THE BRAKE REALLY HARD WHEN IT WENT INTO LOCKUP, AND I WAS ALMOST HIT FROM BEHIND SEVERAL TIMES. IN ADDITION, HAD IT BEEN RAINING AND THE SURFACE WAS SLIPPERY, I WOULD HAVE HYDROPLANED AND CRASHED MY CAR. AND YET AFTER EXPLAINING THE SITUATIONS TO AN AGENT AT AN ACURA DEALERSHIP, AND BEAR IN MIND THAT THERE HAVE BEEN A RECALL ISSUED IN ADDITION TO THE EXTENDED WARRANTY, HE STILL REPLIED THAT MY TRANNY IS NOT COVERED BY EITHER ONE. BASICALLY, THE RECALL EFFORT WAS JUST A PUBLICITY STUNT THAT THE COMPANY ORCHESTRATED IN HOPE OF KEEPING THE CORPORATE IMAGE. THIS IS REALLY SAD BECAUSE THEY WILL LOOSE A LOT OF LOYAL CUSTOMERS FOR GOOD.*AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 ACURA 3.2TL. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER ACCORDING TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 04V176000 (POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION). A TECHNICIAN INSTALLED AN OIL JET KIT BECAUSE NONE OF THE GEARS SUSTAINED DISCOLORATION. FOUR YEARS LATER, THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED DIFFICULTY WHEN SHIFTING INTO REVERSE. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN JERKING ABNORMALLY AND THE ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT CONTROL PANEL. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE FAILURE BECAUSE HIS VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED ACCORDING TO THE RECALL. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT IS IN THE PROCESS OF HAVING THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 120,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 ACURA 3.2 TL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE CLEANING THE REAR VIEW MIRROR WITH A GLASS CLEANING SOLUTION, SHE NOTICED THAT THE MIRROR BEGAN LEAKING UNUSUAL FLUIDS. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED WITH THE POTENTIAL HEALTH RISKS OF THE UNKNOWN FLUIDS. THE CONTACT CONFIRMED THAT THE OWNERS MANUAL RECOMMENDED CLEANING THE MIRROR WITH WATER ONLY. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE TO THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE UNKNOWN. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I HAVE A 2000 ACURA TL. WHILE DRIVING ON THE DELWAY MEMORIAL BRIDGE DOING ABOUT 70 MPH I NOTICED SMOKE IN MY REAR VIEW MIRROR, THEN THE CAR STARTED REVING AND NOT GOING ANYWHERE. I PULLED OVER AND NOTICED TRANMISSION FLUID AT THE SIDE OF THE CAR BEHIND THE CAR AND UNDERNEATH THE CAR. I TOOK THE CAR TO A GAS STATION ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT ITS A POSSIBILITY THAT THE TORQUE CONVERTER IN THE TRANSMISSION MUST HAVE OVERHEATED AND EXPLODED BECAUSE THE GUY COULD NOT FIND A LEAK NOWHERE. WHEN HE OPENED THE BOLT ON THE TRANSMISSION IT SMELLED LIKE SOMETHING BURNING AND SMOKE CAME OUT. I CAN RECALL ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM CHECK OUT THE CAR BECAUSE OF THE DRIVE FIVE LIGHT, THE HARD JERK FROM PARK TO REVERSE AND THE THUMP FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE, THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ALSO ON. ALL THEY DID WAS REPLACE SOME SENSOR. NOW I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THEM AND THEY TOLD ME THAT I HAVE AN INTERNAL TRANSMISSION FAILURE. WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR IT HAD 80K MILES ON IT, THIS WAS LAST MAY. WHEN I TOOK IT TO ACURA IT HAD 95K NOW IT HAS 139K ON IT AND IT CONSTANTLY JUMPS, JERKS, REV'S AND STALLS ON A REGULAR BASIS ESPECIALLY WHEN IT GETS HOT. *AK
MY 2000 ACURA TL HAD A RECALL ON THE TRANSMISSION SO I TOOK IT IN TO BE REPLACED. IT HAD BEEN TWO MONTHS AND THE CAR IS BACK AT THE DEALERSHIP IN THE SHOP FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. THE TRANSMISSION ERATICALLY SHIFTS AND IT IS DANGEROUS FOR ME TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THIS ONGOING PROBLEM.*AK
2000 ACURA TL 3.2 WITH 3 TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENTS SINCE PURCHASE. ACURA HAS ADMITTED THEY DO NOT UNDERSTAND WY THE FAILURES CONTINUE AND THAT IS WHY THE HAVE EXTENDED THE WARANTEE TO 100,000 MILES. PROBLEMS STILL EXIST DUE TO THEM REPLACING TRANSMISSIONS EVERY 30,000 MILES OR SO. NOW, AT 119,000 MILES, TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS ARE RESURFACING AGAIN. MAY OTHER HONDA MADE PRODUCTS SUCH AS ODYSSEY, MDX, HAVE ALREADY BEEN RECALLED FOR SAME PROBLEMS. THESE VEHICLES USE THE SAME TRANSMISSIONS AS THE TL'S IN QUESTION. *AK
TRANSMISSION "SLIPS" INTO GEAR AT ALL SPEEDS SINCE 6/26/04 IN THE EVENING. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH CONSUMER HEARD A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT, AND VEHICLE VIBRATED UNCONTROLLABLY. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, AND PULLED OVER. CONSUMER NOTICED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER TIRE BLEW OUT. CONSUMER WILL CONTACT THE DEALER IN THE NEAR FUTURE. *AK
THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS REPLACEMENT ON MY 2000 ACURA TL AT 93000 MILES. FORTUNATELY, ACURA EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 100000 MILES, BUT FROM WHAT I'VE READ, THE REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSIONS ARE NO BETTER AND THE TRANSMISSION CAN GO OUT AT ANY TIME, CAUSING THE CAR TO BE COMPLETELY UNSAFE. HONDA HAS ISSUED A RECALL ON OTHER MODELS USING THE SAME TRANSMISSION, BUT NOT THE TL. I THINK THIS IS GROSS NEGLIGENCE AND IS PUTTING THE PUBLIC IN DANGER.*AK
I WAS DRIVING AROUND 70 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY IN MY 2000 ACURA 3.2TL WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY DOWN SHIFTED FROM 5TH GEAR TO 2ND. IT SENT PASSENGERS AND CARGO FLYING FORWARD AND I ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. I REGAINED CONTROL OF THE CAR AND COASTED TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. I FOUND A TRAIL OF TRANSMISSION FLUID BEHIND AND UNDER THE CAR. AFTER THAT, THE CAR WOULD NOT GO OVER2500 RPMS AND THE CHECK ENGINE AND TCS LIGHTS LIT UP. UP UNTIL THIS POINT OF FAILURE, THERE WERE NO WARNING SIGNS.*AK
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE AS NEW IN APRIL 2000. IN NOVEMBER 2001, THE TRANSMISSION FAILED, AND I WAS THROWN FORWARD AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED AS THOUGH REAR-ENDED. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED WITH A REBUILT TRANSMISSION AT THE DEALER IN TEMECULA, CALIFORNIA, AND COVERED UNDER RECALL OR WARRANTY (I THINK IT WAS WARRANTY, AND THAT THE RECALL WAS MADE AFTER THE FACT.) WELL, NOW IT HAS BEEN A LITTLE OVER 2 YEARS, AND THE SAME THING HAS HAPPENED AGAIN. WHILE TRAVELING ON AN INTERSTATE, MY TRANSMISSION FAILED, THROWING ME FORWARD, AND RAPIDLY DECELERATING THE VEHICLE. I WAS QUITE FORTUNATE TO HAVE NOT BEEN REAR-ENDED! MY NECK AND BACK HURT, AND MY DEALER HAS CHARGED ME NEARLY $6000 FOR THE REPAIRS. A FAILURE OF THIS SORT MUST BE INVESTIGATED BEFORE PEOPLE ARE INJURED OR KILLED. *LA
I HAVE A PROBLEM IN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION OF MY ACURA TL 2000 THAT I BOUGHT 2YEARS AGO. WHEN SHIFTING FROM 2ND TO 3RD SOMETIMES IT DONT CHANGE THE GEAR. IT SEEMS LIKE SLIPPED. UPON SEARCH I FOUND OUT THAT THIS CAR WAS RECALLED FOR FIXING THIS PROBLEM AS IT IS MANUFACTURING FAULT. PROBLEMS WITH AIR BAG FRONTAL SENSOR / CONTROL MODULE.*MR *JB DEALER REPLACED OPDS UNIT AND DRIVER'S SEAT BELT. *MJJ
TRANSMISSION IN 2000 3.2 TL IS VERY DANGEROUS. GOING 65 MPH AND DROPPED TO 2ND GEAR AND TRANSMISSION IS GONE. IT SEEMS THERE IS A TON OF PEOPLE OUT THERE WITH THIS PROBLEM. CAR IS NOT UNDER WARRATY AND THEY WONT SELL THE PARTS TO FIX IT B/C THEY CAN'T MAKE ENOUGH FOR ACURA TO REPLACE EVEYONE ELSES. THEY NOW WANT $6000 TO FIX. MY 2000 ACURA TL IS ON IT'S 3RD TRANSMISSION. THE LAST ONE STARTED SLIPPING, THEN DOWNSHIFTED WHILE I WAS ON THE FREEWAY AND I ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR. *JB

IINTERMITTENT AIRBAG SYSTEM FAILURE ON ACURA 2000TL. THE YELLOW LIGHT INDICATOR SIDE AIRBAG TURN ON THE MULTIPLE TIMES DURING THE TRIP, STAY ON FOR A COUPLE SECONDS AND DISAPPEAR AFTER THAT. WHEN THE YELLOW LIGHT "SIDE AIRBAG" IS ON THE AIRABAG SYSTEM IS DISABLED. *AK

MY TRANSMISSION FAILED AT APPROXIMATELY 92,000 MILES. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON EVENT FOR ACURA TL OWNERS. THE CAR SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR ON THE ROAD AND I WAS FORCED TO COAST THE CAR OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. LUCKILY, MY TRANSMISSION DID NOT LOCK UP AS OTHERS HAVE EXPERIENCED, BUT THE PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES IS MORE PREVALENT THAN THE NHTSA MAY BE AWARE. JUST DO A SEARCH AT ANY OF THE VARIOUS ACURA OWNERS' WEBSITES AND YOU WILL SEE INSTANCES OF UP TO 5 REPLACED TRANSMISSIONS ON INDIVIDUAL CARS. *LA

ACURA TL TRANSMISSION FAILED, NEW ONE WAS INSTALLED, RECALL ISSUED SEPT 04, "FIXED" TRANSMISSION CLAIMS TO BE FINE BUT ON OCCASION VIOLENTLY DOWNSHIFTS, ACCOMPANIED BY WARPING BRAKES THAT ACURA HAS ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN FOR, IT IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM. *JB
SRS SYSTEM FAILURE DUE TO FAULTY PART.*MR (NAR) THE CONSUMER FEELS THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO A FAULTY PART OR DESIGN NOT WEAR OR TEAR. THE CHARGES WERE UNREASONABLY HIGH DUE TO POOR DESIGN. AN ENTIRE SEAT ASSEMBLY SHOULD NOT HAVE HAD TO BE REPLACED TO FIX AN SRS SENSOR. *CB
THE PCM CONTROL MODULE MALFUNCTIONED, CAUSING TRANSMISSION TO DOWN SHIFT AT RANDOM TIMES . SHIFTS WHILE PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR, AND WITHOUT WARNING THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP. *AK
THE AIRBAG SYSTEM HAS FAILED 3 TIMES IN 16 MONTHS AS INDICATED BY THE SRS WARNING LIGHT ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE SYSTEM'S AVAILABILITY DURING A CRASH IS QUESTIONABLE. *AK
CONSUMER WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY PREPARING TO EXIT, WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED DEPRESSED BRAKE PEDAL TO DISENGAGE CRUISE CONTROL WHILE ON EXIT RAMP AND VEHICLE BEGAN ACCELERATING BACK TO CRUISE CONTROL SPEED ONCE PEDAL WAS RELEASED, ALMOST RESULTING IN A COLLISION. UPON INSPECTION, CONSUMER DISCOVERED THAT THE REAR BRAKE LIGHTS HAD FAILED. PRIOR TO, WAS NOT ABLE TO MOVE GEAR FROM PARK WITH BRAKE DEPRESSED. DEALER DIAGNOSED PROBLEM AS BRAKE SWITCH FAILURE.*AK *CB
WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREETS, THE TRAFFIC IN FRONT OF THE CONSUMER CAME TO A STOP, WHEN THE CONSUMER APPLIED THE BRAKES THE VEHICLE DID NOT SHIFT TO A LOWER GEAR AND THE VEHICLE FINALLY FISH TAILED TO A STOP. *AK *JB
THE TRANSMISSION IN MY 2000 ACURA TL IS POTENTIALLY AFFECTED. I WOULD HATE TO HAVE MY TRANSMISSION LOCK UP THE FRONT WHEELS WHILE TRAVELING 70 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE. *JB
NAR 1/29/2003. THE CONSUMER WAS CONCERNED ABOUT IRREGULAR SHIFTING BEHAVIOR THAT OTHER DRIVERS HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING. THE CONSUMER ALSO OWNS THE SAME TYPE OF VEHICLE. *JB

WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKE FROM 50 MPH OR MORE IN AN EMERGENCY OR SUDDEN STOP SITUATION VEHICLE SHOOK SEVERELY OUT OF CONTROL. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER 10 TIMES OR MORE. DEALER CONTINUOUSLY TURNED THE FRONT ROTORS OR REPLACED THEM EVERY 10,000 - 12,000 MILES. DEALER WAS UNABLE TO GIVE REASON FOR THIS CONDITION. *AK *TS
