My vehicle has only 36526 miles. The brake pedal goes down to 2 inches from the floor and is a major traffic hazzard. I have attempted numerous times unsuccessfuly to make an appointment with Elite Acura in Maple Shade, NJ No answer at Service Dept. Today, 6/8/21, I contacted Acura Customer Relation and the Rep. could not contact Elite Acura as well. She did assigned case # 12275613. This is traffic accident waiting to occur. Can you help me?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 ACURA TLX. THE CONTACT STATED THE CHECK ADMISSION AND THE CHECK PARKING BRAKE SYSTEM WARNING LIGHTS INTERMITTENTLY ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSIS (SCANLON ACURA LOCATED AT 14270 S TAMIAMI TRAIL, FORT MYERS, FL 33912) BUT THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DETECT THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,000.
MY WIFE WAS INVOLVED IN A CAR ACCIDENT IN WHICH OUR CAR GOT T-BONED ON THE DRIVER SIDE. MY WIFE WAS COMPLETELY BLINDSIDED AND ALL THE AIRBAGS ON THE DRIVER SIDE DEPLOYED AND WHEN SHE SAW THE SMOKE SHE THOUGHT THERE WAS A FIRE SO SHE TOLD MY MOTHER IN LAW TO QUICKLY GET MY 2 YR. OLD CHILD OUT OF HER CAR SEAT. AS MY WIFE AND HER SISTER WHO WAS ALSO SITTING IN THE FRONT STARTED WALKING TOWARDS THE BACK OF THE CAR TO GET ME DAUGHTER OUT OF THE CAR OUR CAR STARTED ROLLING BACK EVEN THOUGH IT WAS SMASHED TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE RODE AND WAS AT A COMPLETE STOP. MEANWHILE HER MOM WAS IN THE BACK TRYING TO GET OUT OF A MOVING CAR WHICH SHE THOUGHT WAS ON FIRE. SINCE THE CAR STARTED ROLLING BACK INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC MY MOTHER IN LAW WHO WAS HOLDING MY DAUGHTER GOT DRAGGED ALONG THE PAVEMENT WITH MY DAUGHTER IN HER CHEST BECAUSE HER LEG GOT STUCK IN THE CAR. SHE FINALLY GOT OUT OF THE CAR AS IT WAS ROLLING PAST THE MIDDLE OF THIS BUSY STREET BUT THE CAR KEPT ROLLING BACK UNTIL EVENTUALLY THE BACK BUMPER ROLLED INTO ANOTHER CAR. MY WIFE SWEARS SHE PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND HAS NO IDEA WHY THE CAR STARTED ROLLING BACK AND OBVIOUSLY SHE WOULDN'T GET OUT OF A MOVING CAR SO YOU KNOW THE CAR HAD COME TO COMPLETE STOP. WHEN WE CALLED ACURA TO REPORT THIS ISSUE THEY CHALKED IT UP TO MY WIFE LEAVING THE CAR IN NEUTRAL BUT THE CAR WAS NOT SMASHED ONTO A HILL AND THE ROAD WAS FLAT. FURTHERMORE WE FOUND ONLINE THERE ARE PARKING BRAKE ISSUES WITH THE TLX BUT THE ACURA REP STATED THE RECALL WAS NOT FOR OUR VIN#. MY DAUGHTER AND MOTHER IN LAW COULD HAVE DIED FROM THIS ISSUE BUT ACURA REALLY DIDN'T SHOW ANY CONCERN.
DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 15MPH WENT TO STOP FOR TRAFFIC AND BRAKES FAILED. REAR ENDED JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. NO PEDAL PULSE FOR ABS ROADS WERE NOT SLIPPERY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 ACURA TLX. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE BRAKES FAILED WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A POLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE FROM THE CRASH SITE. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2015 ACURA TLX. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE VEHICLE BECAME DIFFICULT TO STOP. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE, FLIPPED OVER, AND ROLLED UNTIL IT STOPPED. THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE BACK, FACE, AND BOTH KNEES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND DESTROYED. I WAS STOPPED CLOSE TO MAILBOX FOR MY RENTAL HOME AND HAD THE ENGINE RUNNING, BRAKE HOLD WAS ON AND WHEN I UNBUCKLED THE CAR AUTOMATICALLY ENGAGED THE PARKING BRAKE WITHOUT SHIFTING THE GEAR TO PARK. I GOT OUT OF THE CAR, TOOK THE KEY, COLLECTED THE MAIL AND GOT BACK IN. THE PROBLEM APPEARED WHEN I GOT BACK IN. I MANAGED TO ENGAGE THE CAR INTO DRIVE MODE, BUT SEEMS LIKE THE PARKING BRAKE DID NOT COMPLETELY DISENGAGE. THE VEHICLE STARTED TO MOVE IN JERKS AND SPURTS AS IF THE DRIVE WAS HAPPENING WITH THE PARKING BRAKE STILL ENGAGED. THE FOOT BRAKE WOULDN'T WORK AND IT WAS A REALLY SCARY MOMENT FOR ME, BUT THANKFULLY WAS ABLE TO SHIFT THE GEAR BACK TO PARK MODE. I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND THE SYSTEM RESET ITSELF. FOR A WHILE I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO AS THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING BUT COULDN'T APPLY THE FOOT BRAKE AT ALL. IT COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC UNDER DIFFERENT CIRCUMSTANCES. I AM NOT SURE HOW TO APPROACH ACURA OR THE DEALER WITH THIS PROBLEM AND HOW TO HAVE THEM INSPECT IT. I AM NOT EVEN SURE IF THEY WILL AGREE TO INSPECT IT FOR SAFETY ISSUES.
(1) WHEN AT A COMPLETE STOP WITH FOOT ON THE BRAKE, IT FEELS LIKE SOMEONE IS BUMPING THE CAR FROM BEHIND TO MAKE IT GO FORWARD. (2) THE CAR IS COLD WITH THE TEMPERATE AT 70 DEGREES AND ON AUTO - DEALER SUGGESTED MANUALLY CHANGE THE TEMPERATURE TO 85 DEGREES - CAR WILL BECOME VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. HAVE TO MANUALLY KEEP CHANGING THE TEMPERATURE EVERY 10 MINUTES TO MAKE CAR COMFORTABLE. *TR
