2001 AUDI TT QUATTRO INSTRUMENT PANEL BEGAN TO FAIL ABOUT AT ABOUT 45,000 MILES. CURRENTLY AT 62,000 MILES. PANEL CONTINUES TO GET WORSE. CAN NO LONGER READ ANY WARNING MESSAGES, ETC. DID RECEIVE A NOTICE REGARDING A CLASS ACTION SUIT THAT WOULD PROVIDE FREE REPLACEMENT, BUT FOUND OUT FROM DEALER THAT IT DOES NOT APPLY TO 2001 TT SINCE IT IS BEYOND THE SEVEN YEAR LIMIT OF THE CLASS ACTION SUIT. *TR
PROGRESSIVE FAILURE OF INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. GAS GAGE READING 3/4 OF A TANK HIGHER THAN REALITY. I RAN OUT OF GAS IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE. TACHOMETER AND SPEEDOMETER NO LONGER WORK. MAKES IT TOUGH TO PREDICT TURBO LAG. LOW POWER BEFORE TURBO KICKS IN AROUND 2200 RPM MAKES IT TOUGH TO PREDICT ACCELERATION OF CAR FROM STANDING START (SUCH AS LEFT TURN ACROSS A BUSY ROAD). TEMPERATURE GAGE READING HIGHER THAN ACTUAL ENGINE TEMPERATURE. UNABLE TO DETERMINE IF ENGINE MAY TRULY BE OVERHEATING. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 AUDI TT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE'S TIMING BELT FAILS WITHOUT NOTICE AND CAUSES THE ENGINE TO STOP. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND RECOMMENDED CHANGING THE TIMING BELT AT 65,000 MILES. THE VIN AND ENGINE SIZE WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 85,000.
1.) NO SIGNIFICANT EVENTS LEADING TO FAILURE. PARKED CAR OUTSIDE BUT I LIVE IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, THUS NO EXTREME TEMPERATURES. 2.) GAUGE CLUSTER DID NOT TURN ON. CANNOT SEE MILEAGE, TRIP METER, RPM , OR SPEED! 3.)SOMETIMES RESTARTING THE CAR WILL FIX IT. SOMETIMES IT TAKES 10 MINUTES FOR THE GAUGES TO TURN ITSELF ON. *JB
THE 2001 AUDI TT QUATTRO WE OWN RUNS OUT OF GAS BEFORE THE GAS GAUGE REGISTERS AN HALF TANK. THE COMPUTERIZED DASH COMPONENTS DON'T WORK, EITHER. *TR
CAR RAN OUT OF GAS AND ROLLED TO STOP IN MID-TRAFFIC - GAS GAUGE READ 1/4 TANK REMAINING. FURTHER RESEARCH FOUND THAT AUDI TT MODEL YEAR 2001 AND LATER HAVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTERS GIVING WRONG GAS CONTENT, SPEEDOMETER AND RPM INDICATIONS. POSES HAZARD AS VEHICLE MAY BECOME SUDDENLY INOPERABLE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 AUDI TT QUATTRO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE HAS A FAULTY COMPUTER CHIP IN THE GAUGE CLUSTER OF HIS VEHICLE. THE DEALER INFORMED HIM THAT THERE WAS A RECALL IN THE EUROPEAN MARKET, BUT NOT IN THE UNITED STATES. THE DEALER STATED THAT HE WOULD HAVE TO PAY $2,000 FOR THE REPAIR PLUS $300 FOR A DIAGNOSTIC. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 83,000.
(1) EVENTS LEADING UP TO THE FAILURE OF MY TIMING BELT WERE NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS, IE NO SOUNDS, SMELLS, OR VISUAL DAMAGE. (2) ON 01/15/2007, MY TIMING BELT BROKE WHILE DRIVING. THE CONSEQUENCES ARE DAMAGE TO THE CYLINDER HEAD, AS WELL AS OTHER PARTS OF THE ENGINE. (3) LAST YEAR, AUDI CHANGED THE TIME/MILEAGE NEEDED IN ORDER TO CHANGE TIMING BELT FROM 106,000(AS STATED IN THE OWNER MANUAL, OF THE AUDI TT) TO 60,000-70,000, ACCORDING TO AN EMPLOYEE, I SPOKE WITH. I ASKED THE DEALERSHIP IF ANY NOTICES; MAIL, E-MAIL, OR PHONE, WERE SENT OUT, AND THEIR RESPONSE WAS, "NO. BECAUSE MANY CUSTOMER HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH TIMING BELTS BREAKING AT AN EARLY STAGE, WE LET THEM KNOW AS THEY COME IN FOR SERVICE." I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF CONSUMER AFFAIRS ON, 1/19/2007. AND ALSO CONTACTED AUDI OF AMERICA, IN WHICH, HAD ME TO PROVIDE THE ATTORNEY GENERALS OFFICE WITH MY AUTOMOBILES VIN NUMBER. *JB
2001 AUDI TT COUPE. WHEN STOPPING AT A RED LIGHT/STOP SIGN AFTER EXITING THE HIGHWAY, THE CHECK OIL LIGHT AND WARNING NOISE COME ON. IT GOES OFF WHEN I START UP AGAIN. THE DEALER STATES IT IS A GAUGE CLUSTER FAILURE AND WILL COST $1000.00 TO REPAIR. THE CAR OPERATES PERFECTLY AND THE OIL LEVEL IS NORMAL. *JB
ENTIRE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FAILS IN AUDI TTS (SPEEDOMETER, FUEL GAUGE, ETC.) AFTER GAUGES STOP WORKING, CAR WILL EVENTUALLY BE COMPLETELY DISABLED AND UNABLE TO START. ALTHOUGH THIS PROBLEM IS ACKNOWLEDGED BY AUDI UK (HTTP://WWW.BBC.CO.UK/CONSUMER/TV_AND_RADIO/WATCHDOG/REPORTS/TRANSPORT/TRANSPORT_20060124.SHTML) THEY REFUSE TO REMEDY THE ISSUE IN THE UNITED STATES. *NM
2001 AUDI TT ROADSTER PROBLEMS WITH GAUGE/INSTRUMENT CLUSTER**CC THE CONSUMER STATED HE HAD NO WAY TO MONITOR HIS SPEED, TEMPERATURE OR FUEL GAUGE. THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FUNCTIONED SPORADICALLY. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WITHOUT WARNING, AT 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER AND WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY DETERMINED THE TIMING BELT TENSIONER FAILED CAUSING A CYLINDER HEAD FAILURE.
I OWN A 2001 AUDI TT CONVERTIBLE WITH THE 1.8 TURBO ENGINE (180HP). ON FEBRUARY 22ND, THE TIMING BELT FAILED AND THE ENGINE WAS SEVERLY DAMAGED. THE REPAIRS COST ME $3650 ALONG WITH A RENTAL CAR BILL OF $450. SINCE MY CAR HAD 47,200 MILES ON IT WHEN THIS HAPPENED, I ATTEMPTED TO GET AUDI OF NORTH AMERICA TO PAY FOR THE REPARIS BUT THEY REFUSED. THE CAR IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY, BUT THE MAINTAINANCE MANUAL SPECIFIES THAT THE TIMING BELT SHOULD BE CHANGE AT 120,000 MILES. THIS PROBLEM IS NOT UNIQUE TO AUDI, TO THE AUDI TT, OR TO THE 1.8 T ENGINE AS I FOUND OUT FROM THE LARGE NUMBER OF ONLINE POSTINGS BY OTHER AUDI OWNERS. *NM
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DIGITAL DISPLAY HAS FADED OUT AND IS NOT DISPLAYING TOP TWO SECTIONS OF THE DIGITAL READOUT. TACHOMETER HAS FAILED. FAILURE CAUSES INABILITY TO READ THE WARNING LIGHTS, SUCH AS LOW OIL, HIGH TEMPERATURE, ETC. I HAVE PURCHASED AN INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AT A COST OF $650, AND WILL SOON BE PAYING $225 TO GET IT INSTALLED. I AM FRUSTRATED WITH AUDI FOR NOT ISSUING A RECALL ON THIS UNIT. *TR
AIR BAG INDICATOR LIGHT CONTINUOUSLY STAYS ON. AN AUTHORIZED AUDI SERVICE CENTER DIAGNOSTIC INDICATED AIR BAG MODULAR MALFUNCTION RESULTING IN THE INABILITY FOR ALL AIR BAGS TO PROPERLY FUNCTION AND SEAT BELT TENSIONER TO BE INACTIVE. IN ADDITION, THE DIAGNOSTIC INDICATED OTHER SAFETY COMPONENTS NOT AVAILABLE TO THIS MAKE AND MODEL AS MALFUNCTIONING. AIR BAG MODULAR IS REQUIRED TO BE REPLACED TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE AND PASSENGERS. WITHOUT REPLACEMENT OF AIR BAG MODULAR, THE AIR BAG(S) WILL NOT DEPLOY AND THE SEAT BELT TENSIONER WILL NOT WORK PRESENTING THE POSSIBILITY OF SERIOUS INJURIES TO THE DRIVER AND/OR PASSENGER. *NM
THIS CAR HAS STALLED 3 TIMES THIS YEAR WHILE DRIVING WHEN ALL LIGHTS WENT OFF , MOTOR DIED , POWER STEERING DIED AND I COULD NOT MANEUVER THE CAR ANYMORE. *NM 1. JAN 23,2005 I WAS DRIVING WHEN THE CAR ALL OF A SUDDEN DIED. LUCKILY I WAS JUST APPROACHING A STOP LIGHT SO I WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD SAFELY. I HAD THE CAR TOWED . THE SERVICE TOLD ME THAT IT WAS A BAD BATTERY AND THE CAR IS FINE NOW. 2. NOV 10, 2005 I WAS DRIVING AT NIGHT ON A WINDY COUNTRY ROAD WHEN THE SAME HAPPENED THIS TIME AT A SPEED OF ABOUT 50 MPH. LIGHTS OFF, MOTOR DIED, NO STEERING POWER, NO EMERGENCY LIGHTS. I DO NOT KNOW HOW I SURVIVED THIS INCIDENT SINCE WITHIN A SECOND I DIDN'T KNOW WHERE I WAS NOR WHERE I WAS GOING. I ENDED UP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD TRYING TO GET THE CAR OFF THE STREET ASAP SINCE I WAS JUST BEHIND A SHARP CURVE. I HAD THE CAR TOWED THE NEXT DAY. 3. ON DEC 3 THEY CALLED AND TOLD ME THE CAR IS FIXED AND I CAN PICK IT UP. I ASKED IF SOMEONE COULD GIVE ME A RIDE TO ANOTHER LOCATION WHERE I WANTED TO DROP OFF THE CAR I CAME WITH. THE SERVICE MANAGER HIMSELF TOOK THE CAR TO DROP IT OFF AND WHILE HE WAS DRIVING THE SAME HAPPENED TO HIM. THE CAR DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET. 4. HE CALLED ME AND TOLD ME NOW IT??S THE ALTERNATOR WHICH NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I WILL PICK UP THE CAR TOMORROW. IT??S FIXED. ????????? I DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE TO DRIVE THIS CAR ANYMORE. THE SAME THING HAPPENED 3 TIMES OF WHICH ONE TIME I ALMOST DIED. I??M PRETTY SURE THAT IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN AND THIS TIME I MIGHT NOT SURVIVE. THE REASON WHY I THINK THAT IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN? THE CAR HAD THE SAME ISSUE 3 TIMES, IT JUST DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING. THE SERVICE CAME UP EACH TIME WITH A DIFFERENT EXPLANATION. FIRST TIME THE BATTERY, SECOND TIME ??, THIRD TIME THE ALTERNATOR. NONE OF THEM JUSTIFY THAT A CAR DIES JUST LIKE THAT , WHILE I??M DRIVING. ALL THREE TIMES IT HAD RAINED THE DAYS BEFORE. INSTRUMENT CLUSTER IN VEHICLE SUFFERS INTERMITTENT POWER FAILURE. PROBLEM IS BECOMING WORSE AND WORSE. *JB
THE VEHICLE IS AN AUDI TT, VIN [XXX]. THE VEHICLE ABS AND ESP WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUDI DEALER, AND THE DIAGNOSTIC ERROR CODES REPORTED BY THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE'S ONBOARD COMPUTER SENSED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS GOING INTO A SLIDE WHEN IT WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT DOWN THE ROAD, AND THAT THE VEHICLE ONBOARD COMPUTER SYSTEM ATTEMPTED TO APPLY THE BRAKES AS CORRECTIVE ACTION. THE DEALER REPLACED A FALTY LATERAL ANGEL SENSOR. DT: THE CONTACT STATES THAT THE FUEL GAUGES STOPPED WORKING. DEALERSHIP STATED THAT A NUMBER OF THEM HAVE FAILED. IN ORDER TO FIX THIS PROBLEM THE CLUSTER OF ALL THE GAUGES WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED.*AK *NM

CAR HAD 37,000 MILES ON IT. INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FAILURE RESULTED IN AN INABILITY TO READ VEHICLE SPEED, ENGINE SPEED, ENGINE TEMPERATURE AND FUEL LEVEL. REPLACEMENT CLUSTER WAS ACQUIRED AT MY EXPENSE AND INSTALLED AT MY EXPENSE. OLD CLUSTER IS AVAILABLE, HOWEVER I DO NOT WANT TO GIVE IT UP. THIS IS SUCH A COMMON PROBLEM THAT A REPAIR INDUSTRY FOR THESE INSTRUMENT CLUSTERS HAS CROPPED UP. I INTEND TO HAVE THE OLD ONE REPAIRED FOR THE NEXT TIME THE FAILURE OCCURS. *JB
BATTERY WAS DEAD. REPLACED BATTERY AND BY NEXT MORNING THE NEW BATTERY WAS DEAD. TURNS OUT THAT THE HEATED SEATS WERE SHORT CIRCUITING AND WAS DRAINING THE BATTERY EVEN WHEN SHUT OFF. DISCONNECTED THE FUSE. FOUND OUT THAT IN ORDER TO GET FIXED COULD COST IN EXCESS OF $1000 SINCE IT REQUIRES TAKING THE DASHBOARD APART. *JB
I WAS GETTING INTO MY 2001 AUDI TT COUPE AND COULD NOT LATCH THE SEAT BELT INTO THE BUCKLE. AFTER WORKING WITH IT FOR SEVERAL MINUTES I FINALLY DROVE HOME AND REMOVED THE SEAT BELT LATCH AND TOOK IT APART. I DISCOVERED THAT A SMALL PLASTIC COMPONENT IN THE BUCKLE HAD BROKEN. I CALLED AUDI ABOUT THIS SINCE IT WAS A SAFETY ISSUE HOPING THAT THEY MIGHT HELP ME OUT WITH THE REPAIR. THEY INFORMED ME THAT SINCE THE WARRANTY HAD JUST RUN OUT THE REPAIR WOULD HAVE TO BE DONE AT MY EXPENSE. THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY CHARGE $110 FOR THIS PART. *JB
ALL ELECTRICAL PERFORMANCES SHUT DOWN. ALSO, VEHICLE SHUT DOWN WHILE OPERATING. CONSUMER WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHUT DOWN.*AK
WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH A LOUD KNOCKING NOISE WAS HEARD FROM THE FRONT. CONSUMER PULLED OVER THEN, VEHICLE STALLED. CONSUMER TRIED TO RESTART VEHICLE, BUT WAS UNABLE TO DO SO. CONSUMER HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC REPLACED CLIPS, SCREWS, PINS, AND PLATES. *AK
I HAVE A 2001 AUDI TT. I HAVE HAD MANY PROBLEMS WITH THE GAUGES NOT WORKING. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN MANY TIMES AND I AM NOT GETTING ANYWHERE. MY LOCAL DEALER TOLD ME THAT THEY DO NOT KNOW OF ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE GAUGES THAT IS WIDE SPREAD. I AM A MEMBER OF MANY AUDI OWNERS GROUPS AND EVERYONE I KNOW HAS HAD TO REPLACE THE GAUGES. THEY ARE BETWEEN $600-$900 AND I THINK THAT IF THIS MANY PEOPLE (AT LEAST 100) HAVE THIS PROBLEM THEN IT HAS TO BE A FACTORY DEFECT OF SOME KIND. *NM
I PURCHASED AN AUDI TT WITH 40,000 MILES ON IT IN JANUARY OF 2004. IT BURNS 2 QUARTS OF OIL EVERY 800 MILES. AUDI IS UNABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND IT HAS BEEN TO THE SHOP AT LEAST 15+ TIMES FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. NO ONE WILL HELP ME AND I NEVER HAVE MY CAR. THEY GIVE ME LOANERS UNTIL THEY CAN FIX IT, WHICH THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DO IT 11 MONTHS. I NEED HELP AND HAVE NO WHERE ELSE TO TURN TO. PLEASE HELP! *NM
VEHICLE WAS SITTING FOR ABOUT 2.5 HOURS ON A VERY COLD DAY (15 DEGREES). STARTED CAR AND LET VEHICLE WARM UP. THEN I STARTED HOME. AFTER APPROXIMATELY TEN MINUTES ON DRIVING IN TRAFFIC, I STARTED TO EXPERIENCE PROBLEMS WITH SHIFTING THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION. IT WAS VERY HARD TO GET THE CAR INTO ANOTHER GEAR. I FINALLY NOTICED THAT THE CLUTCH WAS NOT RETRACTING COMPLETELY. I HAD TO USE MY FOOT TO BRING THE PEDAL UP TO ITS NORMAL NON-DEPRESSED POSITION. *CB

PURCHASED THE CAR NEW IN 2001, THE AIRBAG LIGHT STARTED COMING ON INTERMITTENTLY IN 2003 HAD THE CLUSTER REPLACED IN 2004 (15K MILES) UNDER WARRANTY, SHORTLY AFTER IT WAS REPAIRED THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN INTERMITTENTLY FOR ANOTHER 2 YEARS UNTIL IT STAYED ON PERMANENTLY. I BROUGHT IT BACK TO ANOTHER DEALER THEY RESET SOMETHING AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT WENT OUT AGAIN FOR ABOUT A YEAR. IN 2010 I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER AGAIN FOR A CLUSTER RECALL, THEY REPLACED THE CLUSTER ALL WAS FINE THEN ABOUT A YEAR LATE THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT WAS THE AIRBAG MODULE. SPENT $1500 TO HAVE THE AIRBAG MODULE REPLACED ( THINK THIS WAS THE ISSUE ALL ALONG). AFTER HAVING THE AIRBAG MODULE REPLACED THE SEAT BELT LIGHT NO LONGER COMES ON. WAS TOLD IT IS THE CLUSTER. THE CAR HAS 37,000 MILES ON IT THIS WILL BE THE 4TH CLUSTER IN THE CAR. THE DEALER WANTS $1500 TO REPLACE AGAIN WITH NO GUARANTEE. AUDI ACCEPTS THERE IS A PROBLEM AND WILL PAY A FEW HUNDRED TOWARDS THE REPAIR. I WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ABOUT $1200, I HAVE TRIED CONTACTING THE AUDI MANAGER (#248-754-3686) HANDLING THE CASE AND MY ATTORNEYS OFFICE HAS TRIED CONTACTING THEM SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY HAVE REFUSED TO RETURN ANY CALLS. I AM WITHOUT A SEAT BELT WARNING INDICATOR. I AM CONCERNED THAT I WILL HAVE MY GRANDSON IN THE CAR AND NOT KNOW IF HIS SEAT BELT IS PROPERLY ENGAGED, OR IF MY AIRBAG IS WORKING PROPERLY. THIS HAS BEEN A CONSTANT ISSUE SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW AND HAVE PUT VERY LOW MILES ON THE CAR, HAVE ALWAYS GARAGED IT AND NEVER DROVE IT IN BAD WEATHER AND THE CLUSTER REMAINS AN ISSUE GOING ON THE 4TH ONE. *JS
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FAILURE FOR 2ND TIME. NOTHING WORKS IN DASH AND AUDI WILL NOT COVER. NO ODOMETER, TACH, FUEL GAUGE, OIL SENSORS, NOTHING. LEFT WIFE STRANDED BECAUSE IT SHOWED A HALF TANK OF GAS WHEN IT WAS ACTUALLY EMPTY. SHE HAD TO WALK 2 MILES TO GET HOME. WHAT IF SHE HAD BEEN RAPED, KILLED, ETC. THERE ARE OVER 2600 COMPLAINTS ON AUDIFORUM WHERE PEOPLE HAVE REPLACED UP TO 3 CLUSTERS FOR THE SAME REASON.*AK
MY 2001 AUDI TT ROADSTERS AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY DURING A DIRECT FRONTAL COLLISION. THE COLLISION FORCE WAS ENOUGH TO SHEAR THE ALUMINUM BUMPER REINFORCEMENT IN THE MIDDLE AS WELL AS WRAP THE RADIATOR AROUND THE FRONT OF THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE IS STILL IN FOR REPAIRS WHICH NOW TOTAL OVER $13,000. IN EARLY 2003 I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALER TO INVESTIGATE THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT. ON THE THIRD (3RD) VISIT THEY REPLACED THE AIRBAG CONTROL MODULE. I AM CONCERNED THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY BECAUSE OF A SYSTEM FAILURE?*AK

FAILURE OF COILPACK IN 2001 AUDI TT COUPE - CAUSES SEVER LOSS OF POWER MAKING CAR PRONE TO FAILURE AND INABILITY TO DRIVE. PROBLEM SEEMS TO OCCUR WITHOUT WARNING AND HAPPENED TO ME ON A VERY DANGEROUS AND BUSY HIGHWAY.

DEALER REPAIRED DEAD CLUSTER IN 2002, AND INSTALLED A STILL DEFECTIVE CLUSTER THAT SHOWS WRONG TEMPERATURE. I LATER BECAME AWARE THAT THE NEW CLUSTER IS ALSO FAULTY. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 AUDI TT COUPE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH SHE BEGAN TO ROLL DOWN THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW AND SMOKE STARTED TO COME OUT OF THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER AND SHUT OFF. IT WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE WINDOW MOTORS WERE REPLACED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED FIVE TIMES. WHEN THE FAILURES OCCURRED THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE AUTHORIZED DEALER TO BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 48,000.
WE HAVE OWNED THIS TT FOR JUST OVER A YEAR AND WE HAVE EXPERIENCED 2 VERY SERIOUS TIRE BLOWOUTS ON THE HIGHWAY THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED SERIOUS ACCIDENTS. WE ONLY DRIVE THIS VEHICLE ON WELL-MAINTAINED SURFACE ROADS AND HIGHWAYS (NO BACK-COUNTRY DRIVING, NO OFF-ROADING). ADDITIONALLY, WE WERE NOT CHANGING LANES, DID NOT HIT ANY POTHOLES, OR DOING ANY EVASIVE MANUEVERS WHEN BOTH INCIDENCES OCCURRED. WE HAVE TAKEN THIS CAR TO ALL SCHEDULED MAINTENANCES. AS WE HAVE NOW HAD TWO CLOSE CALLS, IT HAS MADE US VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS TIRE'S SAFETY AND RELIABILITY. ALL CALLS TO AUDI DEALERSHIPS AND BRIDGESTONE RETAILERS HAVE BEEN MET WITH LITTLE SUPPORT OR DESIRE TO INVESTIGATE. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED COOLANT AND ENGINE CHECK LIGHT ILLUMINATED. VEHICLE STARTED TO PRODUCE WHITE SMOKE FROM UNDERHOOD. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER, AND THEY STATED IT WAS A FAULTY HOSE IN THE COOLING SYSTEM. DEALER REPLACED HOSE, AND THAT DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. *AK
SUDDEN CLUTCH FAILURE ALMOST RESULTED IN ACCIDENT AS NO POWER WAS GOING TO WHEELS WHEN TURNING INTO A PARKING LOT TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. CAR WAS STARTED ON A SLIGHT HILL, POSSIBLY IN THIRD, BUT WITH NO HESITATION, CLUTCH WAS SLIPPED BUT NOT SMOKED. DURING APPROX 3-5 MILES OF DRIVING WITHOUT RIDING THE CLUTCH THE REVS CLIMBED WHILE MAINTAINING A STEADY SPEED, BY THE TIME I PULLED OVER THE CLUTCH WAS GONE. AOA COVERED HALF OF THE PART COST & 10% OF THE LABOR BECAUSE IT IS A NORMAL WEAR ITEM, AND THUS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. *AK
THESE TIRES KEEPING BLOWING OUT ON ME - THIS IS THE THIRD ONE IN FIVE MONTHS. THIS PRESENTS A HUGE LIABILITY AND AUDI REFUSES TO REPLACE THESE OBVIOUSLY BAD TIRES WITH NEW ONES FROM ANOTHER MANUFACTURER. I HAVE REQUESTED PIRELLI ALL SEASON TIRES WHICH ARE FAR MORE APPROPRIATE TO HIGHWAYS AND CITY STREETS. *AK
