TAKATA RECALL - I HAVE CALLED ALL THE BMW CENTERS IN MY LOCAL AREA AND NONE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO REPLACE THE DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG. THEY HAVE NO CLUE WHEN AND ACT AS IF IT IS NOT A REAL SAFETY ISSUE.

RECEIVED INITIAL CONTACT FROM BMW IN SEPTEMBER 2014. "REMEDY NOT YET AVAILABLE". CAMPAIGN 14V 428 AND 15V 318. WHEN WILL THESE RECALLS BE RESOLVED?

TAKATA RECALL HELLO, I'M AT MY BMW SERVICE CENTER NOW (BMW OF FAIRFAX) TO HAVE SERVICE DONE ON MY CAR. I RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF THE TAKATA AIR BAG RECALL AND NOTIFIED THE SERVICE CENTER AS TO WHEN I CAN GET MY AIR BAGS FIXED. THEY COULD NOT GIVE ME A DEFINITIVE TIME LINE. I WENT TO THE SERVICE CENTER TODAY TO HAVE REGULAR SERVICE DONE ON MY CAR AND AGAIN THEY COULD NOT GIVE ME AN EXACT TIME LINE. THEY SAID, "MAYBE A YEAR BUT WE'RE NOT SURE." I ALSO ASKED IF BMW IS STILL OFFERING THEIR CAR RENTAL PROGRAM UNTIL THE ISSUE IS RESOLVED BUT THE SERVICE CENTER SAID BMW IS NO LONGER OFFERING THIS. I'M CONCERNED THAT THE SERVICE CENTER DOES NOT WANT TO PERFORM THE WORK AS I'M SURE THIS IS AT A MAJOR COST TO THEM.

LOCKS OCCUPANTS IN CAR AND CANNOT ELECTRICALLY OR MECHANICALLY UNLOCK. MANY BMW OPERATORS HAVE REPORTED THIS PROBLEM ON INTERNET BUT NO RECALL EXISTS FOR DEALERSHIPS TO REPAIR/REPLACE. HAPPENS WHEN VEHICLE IS IN MOTION OR STATIONARY, ON A CITY STREET OR HIGHWAY, TURNING OR ANYTIME THE SYSTEM LOCKS THE DOORS TRAPPING OCCUPANTS
AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON WHEN DRIVING, AND SOMETIMES IT DOES NOT. I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP JACKSONVILLE FL MULTIPLE TIMES TO GET THE RECALL FIXED SINCE THE RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL. THEY ALWAY SAY THEY DON'T HAVE THE PART AND CANNOT DO IT. THEY WILL TRY TO ORDER IT AND IF IT COMES IN THEY WILL CONTACT ME. I NEVER HEAR BACK FROM THEM.

CAN NOT UNLOCK CAR IN ANY WAY. THE RELAYS IN THE GM5 MODULE WHICH GIVE POWER TO THE ACTUATORS BECOME WEAK AND CAN NOT OPEN CAR. CAR CAN NOT BE OPENED WITH CAR KEY AS KEY HOLE IS ALSO ELECTRONIC. IN THE END I CANT GET INSIDE THE CAR.
"TAKATA RECALL"-WE ARE THE SECOND OWNERS OF A BMW 325I SERIES, 2002 AND HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY INFORMATION ABOUT A DEFECTIVE TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL.
PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT BULB ON ZKW LABELED HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY MELTED REFLECTOR BADLY. REMOVED HEADLIGHT BULB DUE TO CHANCE OF CATCHING FIRE. HEADLIGHT REFLECTOR DAMAGED BEYOND REPAIR AND UNABLE TO MOUNT HEADLIGHT BULB. ISSUE NOTICED WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE WHERE PASSENGER HEADLIGHT STARTED LOOSING BRIGHTNESS AND SHINING TOWARDS RIGHT SIDE OF VEHICLE. PULLED OVER AND SMELLED BURNING PLASTIC. HOUSING IS BLACK FROM BURNING.
WHILE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A STRAIGHT HIGHWAY, THE PASSENGER IN THE RIGHT REAR SEAT LEANED FORWARD, EXTENDING THE SHOULDER SEAT BELT FROM ITS RETRACTOR. THE RIGHT REAR SEAT BELT FAILED TO RETRACT WHEN THE PASSENGER SAT UPRIGHT AND WILL NOT RETRACT NOW THAT THE VEHICLE IS PARKED ON LEVEL GROUND.
WHEN STARTING THE CAR AFTER IT HAS BEEN IN COLD TEMPERATURES (-25 C OR COLDER) THE FUEL INJECTORS LEAK SIGNIFICANTLY. IT APPEARS AS IF THE BODY OF THE INJECTORS SHRINKS SUCH THAT THE INJECTOR PULLS AWAY FROM THE FUEL RAIL. A STEADY STREAM OF FUEL IS OBSERVED OUT OF SEVERAL INJECTORS. THE AMOUNT OF FUEL LEAKING IS ENOUGH TO OBSERVE A STEADY STREAM OF FUEL EXITING UNDERNEATH THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THIS CONTINUES UNTIL ENOUGH HEAT HAS BUILT IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT TO WARM THE INJECTORS AND CAUSE THEM TO SEAL AGAINST THE FUEL RAIL. WHILE DRIVING IN TEMPERATURES AROUND 25 C, THIS USUALLY TAKES 10 TO 15 MINUTES TO WARM UP ENOUGH TO STOP THE LEAKING.

POSSIBLE TAKATA INFLATORS - MY HUSBAND AND I WERE TRAVELING DOWN I-40 WESTBOUND IN MIDWEST CITY, OKLAHOMA AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH WHEN THE DRIVER SIDE, SIDE AIRBAG AND OVERHEAD AIRBAG DEPLOYED WITHOUT PROVOCATION. PLASTIC AND DEBRIS FLEW IN OUR FACES/BODIES, WHITE POWDER FILLED THE CAR, AND I SWERVED ACROSS TWO LANES OF TRAFFIC ALMOST HITTING ANOTHER CAR IN THE PROCESS BECAUSE MY EYES WERE WATERING AND I COULD NOT SEE VERY WELL, NOT TO MENTION WAS IN A DAZE BECAUSE I HAD NO IDEA WHAT HAD JUST HAPPENED. MY HUSBAND AND I HAVE BOTH SUSTAINED INJURIES AND THE CAR IS NOT DRIVEABLE. I HAVE PICTURES, BUT THEY WILL NOT UPLOAD TO THIS SITE FOR SOME REASON. THEY ARE JPG.
TAKATA RECALL. MY COMPLAINT CONCERNS THE DELAY IN PARTS AVAILABILITY TO FIX DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG. THIS IS TAKING WAY TO LONG AND AM WORRIED AS TO POSSIBILITY OF INJURY, OR WORSE, IF INVOLVE IN AN ACCIDENT. IN MY OPINION "LACK OF PARTS" IS TAKING WAY TOO LONG .NOTHING HAS HAPPENED YET.
TAKATA RECALL WAS NOTIFIED EARLIER THIS YEAR OF A RECALL VIA LETTER. CONTACTED BMW NUMEROUS TIMES ABOUT THIS BUT NO FURTHER UPDATES. NO DEALER HAS THE PARTS AVAILABLE. JUST IGNORING CUSTOMERS REQUESTS FOR THE REPAIR. NO EXPLANATION OR PLAN FROM BMW ALTHOUGH THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO HAVE AN ANSWER BY SEPT 1, 2015. CAR HAS NOT HAD FAILURE YET.
WHILE DRIVING OUR CAR THE DASH LIGHTS WILL COME ON AND THE CAR WILL LOOSE ALL POWER. WE HAVE TO PULL OVER AND TURN CAR OFF WAIT A MINUTE WITH KEY COMPLETELY OUT OF THE IGNITION AND RESTART THE CAR THEN ALL LIGHTS ARE OFF AND CAR IS COMPLETELY DRIVABLE. THIS HAPPENS MULTIPLE TIMES A DAY NO MATTER WHAT SPEED IS BEING DRIVEN. ALSO WITHIN THE SAME MONTH THE LOCKS WILL NOT UNLOCK WHEN CAR IS STOPPED AND SHUT OFF OR BY THE POWER BUTTON INSIDE THE CAR. AS WELL AS OUR 4 WAY INDICATOR WHICH IS ON SAME SWITCH AS THE POWER LOCK BUTTON NO LONGER WORKS.

CAR WAS PARKED IN PRIVATE DRIVEWAY, 200 FEET FROM STREET, AND HAD NOT BEEN DRIVEN OR STARTED FOR 4 DAYS. AWOKE TO CAR COMPLETELY ENGULFED IN FLAMES. FIRE TRUCK NEEDED TO PUT OUT FIRE, AND TO PROTECT NEARBY HOUSE. FIRE INSPECTOR COULD NOT DETERMINE CAUSE OF FIRE, DUE TO EXTEND OF DAMAGE, THOUGH NO EVIDENCE OF VANDALISM. NO COMPREHENSIVE INSURANCE, SO CAR A COMPLETE WRITE OFF. SALVAGE YARD SAID THEY HAD NEVER SEEN A CAR SO COMPLETELY DESTROYED BY FIRE. BMW CONTACTED, AND COMPLETELY UNINTERESTED AND UNHELPFUL. I WAS NOTIFIED OF RECALL CAMPAIGN NO: 15V-318 IN JULY 2015. DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG NEEDS TO BE REPLACED DUE TO POSSIBLE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH IF INFLATED ON IMPACT. I HAVE CALLED THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP. INSKIP BMW ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS AND THEY SAY THAT THEY HAVE NOT RECEIVED THE REPLACEMENT PART. IF IT IS THIS DANGEROUS, WHY IS IT TAKING SO LONG?
