The passenger seat mat sensor stopped working and that disabled the airbag. I called BMW and they told me this part has already been replaced once in 2016 on my car during a recall, which happened before I purchased the car. I asked them to replace it again since this is a safety issue and they told me BMW would only replace this part for cars with less than 15 years, which in my case expired on January 2021. This is a very costly repair and in my view is caused by a poorly designed part, considering that there has already been 3 recalls on it and it keeps breaking after a some use. So for now, until this case is settled, I will be driving a car with the passenger airbag deactivated by the board computer, what is a very serious safety issue.
I'm starting to lose gas mileage and a very strong smell of gas inside and outside of car .
2006 BMW 330CI CENTER CONSOLE EXPLOSION POSSIBLY DUE TO DEFECTIVE PLASTIC MATERIAL NEAR GEAR SHIFTER. -Bubble on the console was produced by heat in the car that resulted in it bursting and the spattering of a black petroleum substance that could have distracted the driver or injured a passenger and/or driver. -The possibility of a reoccurrence does exit due to the ongoing heat wave in Minnesota. -The front car seats and console had nothing laying on top of them at the time of occurrence. -Car was inspected by local BMW dealer in Wayzata, Minnesota. -Car was also inspected by a collision repair center, referred by BMW dealer. -BMW corporate is aware of the issue and pictures were provided. -BMW corporate has denied assistance due to the age of the car per Logan @ BMW corporate on 07/19/2021. -I was told there had not been a recall or any other report of a similar incident from BMW.
THE VEHICLE HAS AN UNEXPLAINED AND UNREPAIRABLE DEFECT RELATED TO THE MAIN AIRBAG CONTROL UNIT MODULE, BMW PART NUMBER 65779184432 (CURRENT VERSION); BELIEVE PART 65770394017 APPLIED TO MY VEHICLE AS-BUILT. THE CONTROL MODULE GENERATES INTERNAL CONTROL UNIT FAULT CODE 93D7. BOTH THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT AND SEATBELT LIGHT ARE CONTINUOUSLY ILLUMINATED. ACCORDING TO DEALER TECHNICIAN, THE CODE IS LOCKED IN AND CANNOT BE CLEARED. ADVICE PROVIDED WAS THAT THE UNIT CAN BE REPLACED AND THEN RECODED AT ESTIMATED COST OF APPROXIMATELY $2,000. IF A REPAIR CAN BE EFFECTUATED WITH AN UPDATED PART, THEN IT APPEARS THAT MY CAR AND PERHAPS ALL OTHER SIMILARLY AGED VEHICLES HAVE A DEFECTIVE MAIN AIRBAG CONTROL UNIT MODULE. A FAULTY AIRBAG MODULE WOULD BE A DEFECT IN A CRITICAL DEFECT IN A SAFETY SYSTEM'S PERFORMANCE THAT UNREASONABLY INCREASES RISK OF DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY IN AN ACCIDENT. THE FAULT THUS POSES A RISK TO MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY. FURTHER, BASED ON OPENLY AVAILABLE INFORMATION, IT APPEARS THAT NUMEROUS OTHER VEHICLES HAVE SIMILAR, POTENTIALLY DEFECTIVE, MAIN AIRBAG CONTROL MODULES. FINALLY, IT APPEARS THAT BMW UPDATED THIS PART APPROXIMATELY 15 TIMES IN A 6-YEAR PERIOD, WHICH IS ABOUT DOUBLE THE UPDATE FREQUENCY FOR COMPARABLE VEHICLE--NOTING THAT THIS IS BASED ONLY ON MY LIMITED REVIEW. REGARDLESS, THAT DATA SUGGEST THAT BMW HAS HAD SOME AWARENESS THAT THE AIRBAG CONTROL MODULE HAD PERFORMANCE DIFFICULTIES. THANK YOU.
GOING THROUGH MY NEWLY PURCHASED, USED 2006 330XI, I FOUND SEVERAL WARNINGS FOR FRONT HEADLIGHT MALFUNCTIONS. FURTHER INVESTIGATION SHOWED ADAPTIVE FUNCTIONS WERE DISABLED AND THE LEFT LOW BEAM WAS STUCK POINTING LEFT. WHILE THE BULBS THEMSELVES WERE STILL FUNCTIONING, THE LIGHT WAS POINTED DIRECTLY AT ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND DID NOT ILLUMINATE THE ROAD IN FRONT OF ME. OPENING THE ACCESS PANEL AT THE REAR OF THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY SHOWED MULTIPLE BARE WIRES INSIDE OF THE SEALED HOUSING, THE INSULATION HAD SIMPLY STARTED TO FLAKE OFF OF THE WIRES RENDERING ALL CENTERING AND LEVELING FUNCTIONS OF THE LIGHT INOPERABLE. RESEARCH HAS SHOWN THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM WITH BMW HEADLIGHTS, FOR ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTED DATA AND CASES PLEASE REFERENCE THE FOLLOWING FORUM THREAD : HTTPS://WWW.BIMMERFEST.COM/THREADS/
We took our recently purchased BMW 2006 330xi in for recalls and a few fixes. However, the BMW service center wasn't able to fix one of the issues through the recall process since it doesn't show up for our vehicle. However, everything that I read suggests that it was a recall for this make and model. We are not sure if it was supposedly addressed before we purchased the vehicle and it is now a reoccurring issue or it is a first-time issue. The airbag/seatbelt warning light is present for passenger seat occupancy detector faults. The BMW service center said it was the sensor in the front passenger seat and offered to fix it for $1000 plus. We opted to not fix it until we checked further into the situation. The light for the passenger airbag saying that it is off is currently lit, and the airbag/seatbelt light remains on at this time. Looking for more information on this issue.
MY CAR IS LEAKING GAS AND I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT. I HAD TO TAKE IT OUT OF THE GARAGE BECAUSE OF THE GASOLINE SMELL. MY SEATBELT LIGHT IS ON AND MY MECHANIC SAID THAT I NEED NEW SEATBELTS.
OIL FILTER HOUSING GASKET LEAKED ON TO ALTERNATOR CAUSING THE ALTERNATOR TO OVER HEAT AND MELT INTERNAL COMPONENTS WHICH CAUSING LACK OF POWER AND MULTIPLE FALSE CHECK ENGINE CODES TO COME ON AND SMOKE CLOUDED MY VIEW WHILE DRIVING SO VERY COMMON PROBLEM IS THE HEATER CORE LEAKING TOO
The contact owns a 2006 BMW 330XI. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, the vehicle began to overheat. The check engine warning light, the coolant temperature warning light, and other unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact veered to the side of the road and waited. The contact then continued driving. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring increasingly while driving and smoke would come out from underneath the hood and through the vent inside of the vehicle while driving, and the vehicle would occasionally stall. Additionally, the contact also stated that the vehicle stalled and failed to restart twice. The vehicle was then towed twice to the contact's residence. The contact's father, who is an independent mechanic, could not determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle remained at the residence undrivable. The contact then received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V119000 (Engine And Engine Cooling) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was not contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 300,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
E90 BMW REVERSE LIGHT STOP WORKING DO TO CAR COMPUTER SYSTEM FAULT, THIS POSES A HIGH RISK WHEN VEHICLE IS IN REVERSE OTHER DRIVER ARE NOT NOTIFIED. THIS CAN CAUSE A POTENTIAL ACCIDENT.
The contact owns a 2006 BMW 325i. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the front passenger’s side air bag warning light would remain illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the seat mat sensor was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not yet notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 180,000.
I DIDN'T GET ANY PICTURES. MY SISTER HAS A 330 XI DRIVE TO DENVER AT ONE POINT OF THE DRIVE HURDLE A POP IN THE CAR. WHERE DRIVING FAST NO POT HOLES HIT. AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION WITH A MECHANIC FRIEND OF MINE. WE GOT UNDER THE CAR THE CAR AND NOTICED THE PASSENGER SIDE AXEL WAS RESTING ON THE FRAME OF THE CAR. THERE WHERE 3 MOTOR MOUNT BOLTS SHEARED OFF THE MOTOR MOUNT BRACKETS AN 1 LAYING ON THE SCID PLATE UNDER THE CAR. I HAVE READ SOME OTHER TESTIMONY ABOUT THIS PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET. I BELIEVE THIS COULD BE A DEFINITE PROBLEM SO I HOPE YOU LOOK IN TO THIS PROBLEM THANK YOU.
PASSENGER AIRBAG NOT DETECTED WHEN PASSENGER IS SEATED, PASSENGER AIRBAG INDICATOR IS OFF/ NOT ENGAGED. THIS HAPPENS REGARDLESS IF THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED OR IN MOTION.
THE PROBLEMS I AM HAVING WITH MY CAR INCLUDE: HIGH RPMS WHEN ACCELERATING, MASSIVE GAS CONSUMPTION WHICH I CAN PROVIDE BANK STATEMENTS TO PROVE, MASSIVE COOLANT CONSUMPTION, NUMEROUS OIL LEAKS, ROUGH IDLING, ENGINE RATTLING, FOUL SMELL OF VAPORS IN THE CAR WHILE RUNNING, AND CONSTANT CAR SHAKING. MY CAR WILL CUT OFF COMPLETELY IF THE A/C IS TURNED ON OR IF SITTING AT A RED LIGHT, SO IN RETURN I WOULD HAVE TO PUT MY CAR IN PARK WHILE SITTING AT RED LIGHTS. ALL OF THIS IS DUE TO THE PCV VALVE. THIS RECALL WAS NOT MADE AWARE TO ME IF THOUGH I TOOK MY CAR TO GET SERVICED AT THE BMW DEALERSHIP AFTER THE RECALL WAS ANNOUNCED. THIS IS WHY I ASKED FOR GOODWILL ASSISTANCE FROM BMW. ONCE MY CAR WAS TAKEN IN TO FIX THE RECALL BMW TOLD ME THEY WOULD NOT HELP FINANCIALLY WITH THE REPAIRS OF MY VEHICLE DUE TO THE FACT OF THE YEAR AND MILEAGE. CORPORATE TOLD ME THIS AFTER I HAD TO CHASE THEM DOWN ALL DAY BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THEY NEEDED A ANSWER BY 12PM AND NEEDED THE LOANER VEHICLE BACK. ONCE I RECEIVED THE ANSWER OF NO I ASKED CODY CAMPBELL IF THE RECALL WAS FIXED . HE REPLIED SAYING YES. I DROVE TO THE DEALERSHIP TO THEN BE SENT BACK HOME BECAUSE THEY SAID THEY WERE SEALING SOME OF THE LEAKS FOR SAFETY PURPOSES. I FOUND THIS ODD BECAUSE IF YOU LOOKED ONLINE AND STILL LOOK NOW AS OF 10:09PM ON 10/05/2019 THE RECALL STILL HAS NOT BEEN FIXED.
I WAS TRAVELING TO A LOCAL STORE. MY CAR SUDDENLY JERKED,RADIO TURNED OFF WHILE LIGHTS ON DASH FLICKERED ON AND OFF. I LOST POWER TEMPORARILY AND I BEGAN SMELLING WIRES. I ALSO NOTICE A 'POP' AS I ATTEMPTED TO PULL OVER AND NOTICE NO BRAKE OPERATIONS SO I HAD TO COAST TO A STOP WITH MY 2 YEAR OLD IN THE BACKSEAT. I STARTED MY FLASHERS AND TURN OFF CAR TO SEARCH FOR SMELL. IT SEEMS LIKE DASH BUT I DIDN'T SEE ANY SMOKE. I GET BACK IN CAR AND ATTEMPT TO START IT AND NOTHING! I STILL HAVE POWER SO I WAS CONFUSED, I CHECK TRUNK ULTIMATELY AND REMOVE BATTERY COVER AND THIS IS WHAT I FOUND! THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND VERY DANGEROUS. I GOT THE CAR TOWED HOME AND WON'T DRIVE UNTIL IT IS REPAIRED OBVIOUSLY. I AM UPSET BUT EVEN HAPPIER ME AND MY KID MADE IT HOME SAFELY, SOMETHING KEEPS TELLING ME TODAY WAS A BLESSING WE MADE IT.
AFTER ~30 MIN DRIVING ON THE CAPITAL BELTWAY AROUND WASHINGTON DC, I EXISTED AT EXIT 4 ON I270 NORTH). THE ENGINE SUDDENLY EVOLVED VERY FAST WHEN I WAS BRAKING BEFORE A TRAFFIC LIGHT BETWEEN I270 RAMP AND FALLS ROAD. I FELT LIKE THE CAR JUST WANTED TO KEEP MOVING. I ENDED UP HITTING A VEHICLE IN THE FRONT THOUGH THE DAMAGES ON BOTH WERE VERY MINOR. I IMMEDIATELY TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND PLACE IT IN PARK. AFTER A FEW MINUTES (THE OTHER DRIVER AND I EXCHANGED CONTACT INFO), I RESTARTED THE ENGINE AND THE CAR SEEMED TO WORK OK.
PASSENGER RESTRAINT MALFUNCTION WARNING AND PASSENGER AIR BAG TURNED OFF
HAVE HAD THE CAR LESS THAN TWO MONTHS AND I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING NON-SAFE SITUATIONS. THE CAR JUST ONE DAY SUDDENLY DOESN?T COME OUT OF PARK. IT FINALLY GOT OUT OF PARK AND WHEN I TRY TO DRIVE AND IT REVERSES AND MAKE ALOT OF NOISE AND WHEN I SOMETIMES TRY TO REVERSE. IT DRIVES. THIS IS NOT SAFE. I?VE NEARLY GOTTEN MYSELF KILLED DUE TO THIS FAULTY BAD CAR. I TRIED TO CALL FOR A TRADE OR A REFUND AND THE COMPANY WAS RUDE TO ME. THIS CAR TAKES MY GIRLFRIEND AND I TO WORK AND THIS IS THE ONLY CARE WE HAVE. IT HASN'T BEEN A YEAR AND THE CAR HAS SO MANY ISSUES DOWN TO CAR NOT READING GEARS, BAD SPARK PLUGS , HOLE UNDERNEATH, FAULTY AIRBAGS, WINDOWS NOT WORKING, TIRE PRESSURES UNSAFE AND MUCH MORE THAT NO ONE WOULD WANT TO EXPERIENCE. *TR
THERE IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL BMW, THE ELV CONTROL /STEERING WARNING LOCK IS FAULTY. BMW ISSUED A TSB TO DEALERS THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE AND SHOULD ONLY BE FIXED IF A CUSTOMER BRINGS IN THE VEHICLE. THE ISSUE FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND IS A SOFTWARE ISSUE AND CAN ONLY BE FIXED AT A DEALER. A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED, IF THE CONTROL CANNOT BE UNLOCKED THE CAR CANNOT START. SINCE BMW HAS RECOGNIZED THE ISSUE WITH A TSB, I AM UNSURE AS TO WHY A RECALL AS NOT BEEN ISSUED. THIS ISSUE IS STRICTLY RELATED TO THE BMW COMPUTER SYSTEM AND THE OWNERS CAN DO NOTHING TO PREVENT THIS FAILURE. *TR
The contact's brother owns a 2006 BMW 330XI. The contact stated while his mother was driving approximately 30-40 MPH, she smelled a burning plastic odor and the vehicle started to overheat. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring while driving. The coolant temperature warning light illuminated. The contact veered to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic but was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact later received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V119000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The dealer was not contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer for a diagnostic test. The vehicle was diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
Intermittently on startup/ignition, car electrical shuts completely down. No power to anything and key fob becomes locked in the ignition. After a few minutes the electrical comes back on on its own. This usually only happens in park on startup, however on one occasion, the electrical shut off for about 5 seconds as I was driving 70 MPH on the highway. Car went totally dark and I was fortunately able to control the wheel until power came back.
AC STOP WORKING AND A BURN WIRING SMELL CAME OUT
The contact owns a 2006 BMW 325i. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle overheated without warning. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The contact stated the failure was like NHTSA campaign number: 17V676000 (Electrical System). The approximate failure mileage was 170,000.
DRIVERS SIDE LOW BEAM STARTED FLASHING WHEN CAR HIT BUMPS AND WHILE TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE RIGHT. OPENED BULB ACCESS COVER TO CHECK THE BULB AND FOUND THAT THE MAJORITY OF THE WIRING INSIDE THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY HAS HARDENED AND FLAKING INSULATION, EXPOSING BARE COPPER WIRE AND ALLOWING IT TO SHORT OUT. REMOVED THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY FOR A MORE THROUGH INSPECTION AND DISCOVERED THE SAME DAMAGE ON THE HIGH BEAM WIRING AND DETERIORATION ON THE ENTIRE WIRING HARNESS INSIDE THE LIGHT. SERIOUS SAFETY RISK AS WELL AS FIRE RISK.
2006 BMW 325I THE BIODEGRADABLE WIRING HAS DETERIORATED CAUSING THE DIRECTIONAL AND HEADLAMPS TO FAIL RESULTING IN EXPENSIVE REPAIRS AND JEOPARDIZES THE SAFETY OF THE DRIVERS OF THE VEHICLE WHILE IN USE.
RECEIVING AN ERROR CODE ON THE DASH THAT DISPLAYS A 'RED' MANNEQUIN WITH SEAT BELT AND AIR BAG. IN REVIEWING THE BMW HANDBOOK, IT INDICATES THE ERROR IS ASSOCIATED WITH THE DRIVER'S AND/OR FRONT PASSENGER'S AIR BAG MALFUNCTION.
TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 BMW 325CI. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V018000 (AIR BAGS) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. BMW OF LOUISVILLE (2200 BLANKENBAKER PKWY, LOUISVILLE, KY 40299, (502) 287-1501) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
Passénger seat occupancy seat mat has failed and passenger air bag system does not work. Diagnosed recently- repair scheduled soon for cost of $1588.35 It looks like there may have been a recall in 2017 but I don’t have any record of being notified or having it fixed.
WHEN THE IBS IS PLUGGED IN IT DRAINS THE BATTERY FAST , THEN IT WON'T START UNLESS I UNPLUG THE B+ BLUE PLUG , THEN PLUG THE B+ CABLE BACK IN AFTER STARTED SO THE VALVETRONIC ECCENTRIC SHAFT MOTOR HAS POWER , OTHERWISE IT GOES INTO LIMP MODE WITHOUT IT PLUGGED IN , I THOUGHT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS BUT IT STARTS ON THE 2007 E90 I GUESS MINE IS A 2006 .
THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT IS ON. NO CODE IS BEING GIVEN BY THE DIAGNOSTIC TOOL. I SEE THAT THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM, INVOLVING SEVERAL MODELS. THIS VEHICLE DOES NOT SEEM TO BE PART OF THE RECALL. I DON'T GET ANY COOPERATION FROM THE DEALERSHIP. THEY JUST SAY THAT IT'S NOT ANYTHING COVERED UNDER A RECALL. I FEEL WITH THE WELL KNOWN PROBLEM WITH A CRITICAL SAFETY DEVICE SUCH AS AN AIRBAG SYSTEM NEEDS TO HAVE A RECALL NOTICE ISSUED SOON. I'M NOT SURE HOW THIS SLIPPED THROUGH THE CRACKS. BUT IT SEEMS LIKE THAT'S WHAT HAPPENED. SINCERELY [XXX] REDACTED TO PROTECT PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *CC *TR
PASSENGER RESTRAINT SYSTEM. (FAULT IN PASSENGER RESTRAINT SYSTEM AFFECTING AIRBAG, BELT TENSIONER, BELT FORCE LIMITER) WHILST DRIVING. AIR BAG RECALLED JUST TWO MONTHS AGO! AND NOW NEW ISSUE. WORRIED FOR SAFETY.
DRIVER SIDE STAGE 1 AIRBAG MALFUNCTION OCCURRING IN MY VEHICLE WITH A DASH LIGHT. WHEN I SEARCH MY VIN FOR THIS RECALL, IT DOES NOT SHOW UP. BUT IT DOES SHOW THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR 2006 BMW 330XI'S AND OTHER 3 SERIES. THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED FOR EVERY 2006-2011 BMW 3 SERIES BECAUSE IT AFFECTED ALL OF THE CARS. WHY IS THIS NOT BEING TAKEN CARE OF AND WHY IS IT NOT A RECALL FOR MY CAR AS WELL AS OTHERS THAT ARE COMPLAINING? THIS IS A VERY BAD SAFETY FEATURE THAT SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF. THANK YOU, A PERSON WHO DRIVES A 2006 BMW 330XI, AND DESERVES THEIR CAR RECALLED. *TR
AIR BAG. WARNING SENSOR,ADAPTIVE HEADLIGHTS WARNING,POWER STEERING LEAKING,BRAKES CLUMPING,BLOWER HEATER MOTOR AND MODULE HAD TO REPLACE.
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
COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER, SHUT CAR OFF FOR A FEW MINUTES, WHEN TRYI G TO RESTART VEHICLE NOTICED ZERO POWER TO ANY COMPONENTS
WHILE PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY I NOTICED FUEL SMELL OUTSIDE THE DRIVERS SIDE OF MY 2006 BMW 325I ALSO THE CAR WAS HARD TO START MEANING THE STARTER WAS CRANKING EXCESSIVELY TO START THE CAR. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE BMW DEALER AND THEY FOUND THE DRIVERS SIDE SENDING UNIT LEAKING FUEL UNDER THE BACK SEAT OF THE CAR. THEY REPLACED THE SENDING UNIT (PART NO. 16-11-7-163-295) AND MY CAR IS GOOD NOW BUT IT SEEMS LIKE THIS HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BE VERY DANGEROUS AND THE REPAIR COST ME $529.00
FEW MILES AFTER STARTING TO DRIVE ERROR ICON WAS SHOWN ON THE DISPLAY SHOWING AIRBAG ICON AND SEATBELT ICON. WAS ABLE TO DISPLAY THE ERROR CODE: CC-ID 97. THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT WAS OCCUPIED. THE CAR WAS IN MOTION WHEN THE ERROR WAS TRIGGERED, AT ABOUT 25 MPH ON CITY STREETS.
