RECALL CAMPAIGN 13V-564: E90, E91 FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG SEAT OCCUPANCY SENSOR MAT MODEL E90 (3 SERIES SEDAN) E91 (3 SERIES SPORTS WAGON) ONLY VEHICLES ARE EQUIPPED WITH SPORT SEAT PRODUCED FROM DECEMBER 2005 TO SEPTEMBER 2006 BMW HAS DECIDED TO AMEND THE 2008 VOLUNTARY RECALL (NHTSA ID: 08V-384) INVOLVING THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG SEAT OCCUPANCY SENSOR MAT.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE SEATED IN THE DRIVERS SEAT WITH THE SEAT BELT LATCHED, THE SEAT BELT WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED WHILE THERE WAS NO OTHER OCCUPANTS IN THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS MADE AWARE OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V564000 (AIR BAGS) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 176,000.
"TAKATA RECALL" BMW IS REFUSING TO PAY FOR EXPENSES INVOLVED WITH RECALL. VEHICLE IS LOCATED ON ISLAND OF KAUAI, HI 96746. THE NEAREST BMW SERVICE CENTER "BMW OF HONOLULU" IS LOCATED ON ISLAND OF OAHU (HONOLULU). THEY ARE REFUSING TO PAY COSTS OF SHIPPING VEHICLE TO AND FROM HONOLULU. THEY ARE EVEN REFUSING TO SEND TECH"S TO KAUAI TO FACILITATE REPAIRS. NOTE: THEY PREVIOUSLY USE TO SEND THEIR TECH'S TO TAKE CARE OF PROBLEMS SUCH AS WARRANTY ISSUES ETC. BECAUSE OF SOME CORPORATE PROTOCALL.THEY NO LONGER DO IT BECAUSE OF ISSUES OF LIABILITY ETC. HOWEVER, THIS BEING A RECALL IT SEEMS THEY ARE AVOIDING THEIR LEGAL RESPONSIBILITY TO REPAIR THESE DEFECTIVE AIRBAGS. FIND ENGINE OIL LEAKING ON FLOOR AND SMILE OIL BURNING. THEN, FIND A BOLT FOR ENGINE VALVE COVER IS BROKEN. IT MAKE CATCHING FIRE!!!
THE LIGHT HAS COME ON AND THEN IT WILL GO OFF AND COME BACK ON. IT NEED TO BE FIXED. I CAN SMELL LIKE IT IS BURNT. MY CAR BE IN MOTION AND I SMELL IT EVEN AFTER I STOP. THE LIGHT STAY ON ALL THE TIME NOW. I'M AFRAID EVERY TIME I GET IN THE CAR TO DRIVE IT BUT I GOT TO TAKE MY GRANDCHILDREN TO SCHOOL. DO YOU FIX IT OR DO I HAVE TO FIX IT. PLEASE HELP !!
I AM FILING THIS SAFETY VEHICLE COMPLAINT ON MY 2006 BMW 330I. WHAT FIRST BEGAN AS A SMELL OF FUEL INSIDE THE CAR ESCALATED TO A STRONG SMELL OF GAS, AFTER LOOKING AT THE UNDERCARRIAGE OF THE VEHICLE I DISCOVERED FUEL LEAKING DOWN THE DRIVER'S SIDE GAS TANK INCHES AWAY FROM THE HOT EXHAUST. TRACKING WHERE THE LEAK WAS COMING FROM, I REMOVED THE PASSENGER REAR SEAT AND DISCOVERED THAT THE FUEL PUMP PLASTIC HOUSING DEVELOPED CRACKS ALL AROUND CAUSING THE FUEL TO ESCAPE BELOW THE PASSENGER SEAT DOWN THE GAS TANK. THE VEHICLE OPERATES FINE AND THERE ARE NO DASH LIGHTS INDICATING THAT THERE ARE ANY FAILURES OF FUEL, HOWEVER, IT SEEMS THE FUEL HAS BROKEN DOWN THE PLASTIC HOUSING OF THE FUEL PUMP OVER TIME, RESULTING IN AN ENORMOUS LOSS OF FUEL WHEN THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING. I AM VERY GLAD I DISCOVERED THIS ISSUE, WHICH I BELIEVE IS AN ENORMOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND CONSIDER MYSELF LUCKY THAT I DIDN'T CATCH ON FIRE ON MY LAST DRIVE. I WILL FOLLOW-UP WITH BMW'S HOTLINE BECAUSE I AM CERTAIN THERE ARE OTHER DRIVERS THAT OWN THE I90 SERIES THAT MAY BE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AND HOPE NHTSA CAN PUT THIS ON THEIR BULLETIN AND OPEN AN INVESTIGATION ON THE SERIOUS ISSUE.
WHILE IN MOTION AT ALL SPEEDS, WITH PASSENGER USING SAFETY RESTRAINT SYSTEM, PASSENGER AIRBAG TURNS OFF. PASSENGER IS THEN UNPROTECTED IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. VIN EXCLUDED FROM ORIGINAL RECALL.
THE PASSENGER SEATBELT/AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT WAS ON AND OFF FROM TIME TO TIME AFTER AROUND FOUR YEARS OF MY PURCHASE IN 2005. THE PROBLEM MIGHT HAVE EXISTED EARLIER; HOWEVER, AS MY VEHICLE USUALLY DID NOT CARRY ANY PASSENGERS, I DID NOT NOTICE THE PROBLEM WITHIN THE WARRANTY PERIOD. RECENTLY, THE LIGHT WOULD NOT EVEN GO AWAY. MY MECHANIC INFORMED ME ABOUT THE RECALL NUMBER 13V564000, STATING THE "OWNERS OF MODEL YEAR 2006-2007 3 SERIES WITH STANDARD SEAT ... WILL RECEIVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THEIR FRONT PASSENGER SEAT OCCUPANT DETECTION MAT." I HAVE CONTACT BMW, BUT THEY SAID THE RECALL AND THE EXTENDED WARRANTY WOULD NOT BE APPLICABLE TO MY VEHICLE.

BELT TENSIONER BOLT BROKE OFF CAUSING SERPENTINE BELT TO SLIP OFF CAUSING ENGINE TO FAIL. CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN WHEN CAR STARTED TO LOSE POWER AND POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING. I HAVE NO DOCUMENTATION YET BECAUSE CAR HAS JUST BEEN DIAGNOSED AND IS IN REPAIR SHOP NOW. I FOUND ONLINE THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO OTHERS AS WELL.

THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V564000 (AIR BAGS). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
STEERING ENGINE LIGHT WARNING. STARTED WITH A SMALL RED LIGHT WHEN TURNING CAR OFF. THE FLASH OF RED WAS SO QUICK COULD NOT TELL WHAT SYMBOL IT WAS. THIS THEN TURNED INTO YELLOW WARNING WITH WRITTEN DESCRIPTION IN NAVIGATION/COMPUTER DISPLAY. STEERING ENGINE LOCK. TURN STEERING WHEEL LEFT AND RIGHT. DO NOT TURN CAR OFF WILL NOT RESTART. TOOK CAR IN TWICE NOT ANYTHING SHOWING ERROR OR PROBLEM. CALLED BMW N. AMERICA HAD NO IDEA WHAT THIS ILLUMINATED SYMBOL MEANT, CONNECTED ME TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAD NO IDEA. TOWED TO DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR (I HAVE BEEN THE ONLY OWNER AND DRIVER). CAR HAS 44950 MILES. DEALER CALLED TODAY AND SAID STEERING COLUMN NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE YELLOW ILLUMINATION STAYED ON WHEN CAR WAS STATIONARY, IN MOTION AND TURNING WHILE ON CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAY. RED ILLUMINATION CAR WAS STATIONARY.
PASS. RESTRAINT SYSTEM FAULT MESSAGE. FEW DAYS WENT BY WITH THIS FAULT MESSAGE COMING ON AND OFF. NOW ITS CURRENTLY STAYING ON. AFTER SEARCHING ON THE WEB, I'VE FOUND MANY OTHER BMW OWNERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE, BUT ONLY A FEW MODELS ARE COVERED UNDER RECALL (08V384000). AFTER SEARCH MY (VIN) SHOW NO CURRENT RECALLS. RECALL (08V384000) STATES 2006 YEAR 3-SERIES. HOW CAN THIS ONLY BE LIMITED TO SOME 2006 ,BUT NOT OTHERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS? VEHICLE HAS AROUND 86K MILES. THANKS
DRIVER SIDE DOOR LOCK DOES NOT UNLOCK FROM INSIDE THE CAR USING DOOR HANDLE OR LOCK/UNLOCK BUTTON IN DASH OR FOB UNLOCK BUTTON. INABILITY TO OPEN DOORS IN THE CASE OF FIRE, ACCIDENT, OR EMERGENCY CAN CAUSE INJURIES OR DEATH TO DRIVER. BMW DISCONTINUE THE PART NUMBERS FOR DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE AND SUGGEST IN THE SERVICE MANUAL IN CASE OF FRONT DOORS LOCKS FAILURE (EITHER ONE OR BOTH DOORS) TO REPLACE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE DOOR LOCK LACHES WITH NEW PART NUMBERS. THE PASSENGER AIRBAGS AND/OR ITS COMPONENTS NEED TO BE REPLACED. THERE WAS A 10 YEAR EXTENDED WARRANTY BUT IT SHOULD BE RECALLED. I WAS 1 MONTH LATE OVER THE RECALL. AFTER MULTIPLE CALLS TO BMW NORTH AMERICA, THEY REFUSE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. EVERY TIME A PASSENGER SITS IN THE CAR, THE AIR BAG ERROR CODE GOES ON IN THE DASHBOARD. THE PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF LIGHT STAYS ON (STATIONARY AND MOVING) AND POSSIBLY COMPROMISING ALL OTHER AIRBAG SYSTEMS. ALSO, THERE ARE SOME SITUATIONS WHERE THE AIR BAG ERROR CODE STAYS ON EVEN WHEN THE PASSENGER EXITS THE VEHICLE. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD THAT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED IMMEDIATELY!
AIRBAG WARNING WHEN PASSENGER PRESENT AT STARTUP
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 BMW 325I. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE AIR BAG AND SEAT BELT SENSORS REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE OCCUPANT SENSOR WAS FAULTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 161,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. SHARPE BMW OF GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN WAS MADE AWARE OF THE RECALL, STATED THAT THE PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE, AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
FOUND OUT TODAY, AFTER MAY ATTEMPTS TO RESOLVE A NOISE IN THE FRONT END. THE RIGHT FRONT MOTOR MOUNTS BOLTS HAD BROKEN, CAUSING THE ENGINE TO MOVE VERY FREELY INSIDE THE ENGINE. THIS WAS ONLY FOUND OUT AFTER A COMPLETE RIGHT FROM DRIVE AXLE FAILURE DUE TOT HE POSITION OF THE ENGINE CAUSING THE CV BOOT TO RUB THE SUB FRAME. THIS CAUSED A COMPLETE LOSS OF CV GREASE, AND SUBSEQUENT FAILURE OF THE CV JOINT. THE CV JOINT THEN PROCEED TO GRENADE WHILE DRIVING OVER SOME RAIL ROAD TRACKS. THE OUTER AXLE THEN DROVE ITSELF INTO THE GROUND CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO RISE, AND LOSS OF CONTROL FOR A BRIEF MOMENT. THE CAR CAR TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGASTION I FOUND THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT WITHT HE MOTOR MOUNT BOLTS SHEERING OFF FLUSH TO THE ENGINE.

ALSO, WHEN SEATED IN THE PASSENGER SEAT, THE VEHICLE DID NOT REGISTER ANYONE IN THE SEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V564000 (AIR BAGS). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 82,300.
NOTED VIBRATION WITH VEHICLE RUNNING IN GEAR WHEN STOPPED, DURING INSPECTION NOTED BOLTS ON RIGHT SIDE MOTOR MOUNT BROKEN OFF FLUSH WITH THE ENGINE BLOCK, FOUND BOLT HEAD WITH ABOUT 1" OF THREADS LAYING ON TOP OF LOWER ENGINE COVER.
AFTER WORK YESTERDAY WHEN I TRIED TO START MY CAR, THE YELLOW LOCKED STEERING LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR WOULD NOT START. AFTER I JERKED ON THE STEERING WHEEL, THE LIGHT WENT OFF AND THE CAR STARTED. WHILE ON MY WAY HOME, ON THE HIGHWAY, THE STEERING LOCKED AGAIN AND THE RED LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS GOING ABOUT 75 MPH AT THIS TIME. I HIT THE CLUTCH AND BRAKES AND JERKED THE WHEEL AGAIN CAUSING IT TO RELEASE. LUCKILY IT WAS NOT RUSH HOUR. IT HAS BEEN PARKED EVER SINCE. IT HAS 114K MILES.

MY BMW DOES NOT FALL INTO THE RECALL THAT BMW PUBLISHED. AFTER SEVERAL LIGHTS APPEARED IN MY DASH (AIRBAG, BRAKE, SEATBELT) I HAD THE DISNOSTIC TOOL LOOKED UP AND RECEIVED A FAULT CODE 93C3 SEAT OCCUPANCY DETECTOR, PASSENGER . LOOKING ON THE WEB THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE SEAT OCCUPANCY SENSOR MAT FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 142,000.
MY CAR WAS PARKED FOR A BRIEF TIME AND THEN, JUST BEFORE I WAS ABOUT TO START MY CAR, I NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE GLOVE BOX AND WHEN I BLEW ON IT, A FIREBALL CAME OUT AND THE WHOLE CAR WENT UP IN FLAMES. JUST A FEW DAYS BEFORE, I HAD PROBLEMS WITH MY AIR-CONDITIONING AND HAD PRIOR ELECTRICAL ISSUES THAT I HAD CHECKED OUT AT A BMW REPAIR SHOP.
I RECENTLY PURCHASED A USED 2006 BMW 325I WITH THE INTENTIONS OF LETTING MY DAUGHTER DRIVE IT, DUE TO THE HIGH SAFETY RATINGS OF THESE AUTOMOBILES. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT SOME ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION, AND SOME WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH INDICATING A PROBLEM WITH THE SEATBELTS AND AIRBAGS. WHEN I INQUIRED ABOUT THE WARNING LIGHTS, THE SERVICE WRITER OF THE DEALERSHIP IN MERIDIAN MS TOLD ME THAT IT SOUNDS LIKE THE SEAT MAT WAS FAULTY. LATER I GOOGLED INFO ABOUT THE SEAT MAT, AND I CAME ACROSS A LINK THAT SHOWS MY SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED DUE TO THIS ISSUE. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP BACK AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THIS CAR. I CALLED NHTSC AND LEFT A MESSAGE ABOUT MY INQUIRY, AND I WAS CALLED BACK PROMPTLY BY MR. NATE HAYES. AFTER I EXPLAINED THE SITUATION TO MR. HAYES, HE DID SOME CHECKING AND FOUND THAT ALTHOUGH SOME 2006 325I'S WEREN'T RECALLED (THE ONES WITH MANUAL SEATS) MINE HOWEVER SHOULD'VE BEEN RECALLED DUE TO HAVING THE ELECTRICALLY ADJUSTED SPORTS SEATS. MR. HAYES INSTRUCTED ME TO CALL THE DEALERSHIP TO SEE IF MAYBE THIS WORK HAD ALREADY BEEN DONE ON MY VEHICLE. UPON CALLING THE DEALERSHIP BACK, I WAS TOLD THAT IT HADN'T BEEN DONE, BECAUSE MY VEHICLE WASN'T IN THE RECALL. AFTER QUESTIONING HIM MORE ABOUT IT, HE TOLD ME THAT HE WAS ABLE TO FIND THAT BMW HAS EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON MY CAR TO 15 YEARS WITH NO MILEAGE LIMITATIONS, IF THAT IS WHAT WAS WRONG WITH MY CAR, BUT IF NOT, I WOULD BE CHARGED FOR THE REPAIR. WHAT CONCERNS ME ABOUT THIS, IS THE FACT THAT BMW WAS MANDATED BY THE NHTSC TO RECALL A CERTAIN LIST OF AUTOMOBILES TO PREVENT INJURY, RATHER THAN WAIT TO SEE IF PROBLEMS OCCUR LATER THAT COULD RESULT IN INJURY AND/OR DEATH. I DON'T KNOW IF OTHERS THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED WERE PUT OFF BY BMW OR NOT, BUT THIS COULD HAVE SOME DEADLY CONSEQUENCES.
THE THERMOSTAT AND THE WATER PUMP BOTH WENT OUT WITHOUT ANY WARNING. CAR STARTED OVERHEATING AND WARNED WITH A YELLOW LIGHT, AFTER WHICH A RED LIGHT CAME ON AFTER 10 SECONDS OF THE YELLOW LIGHT BEING ON.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND WAS NOT ABLE TO CONFIRM WHEN THE PARTS WERE TO BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
STEERING WHEEL LOCK PREVENTS THE STARTER FROM WORKING. THIS PREVENTS THE ENGINE FROM STARTING. I WILL HAVE TO REPLACE THE STEERING COLUMN WHICH WILL COST OVER ONE THOUSANDS DOLLARS. BMW HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM
VEHICLES AIRBAG SENSOR GOES OFF AND ON WHILE PASSENGER IS SITTING IN THE SEAT WHEN DRIVING AND WHILE PARKED. THIS IS NOT SAFE AT ALL AS THE AIRBAG TURNS OFF WHEN THERE IS A PASSENGER IN THE SEAT. THIS HAS BEEN AN ON GOING ISSUE AND IT IS NOT SAFE AT ALL.
TAKATA RECALL, BMW DEALERSHIP SAID THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS YET. THEY HAVE TOLD ME THIS FOR TWO YEARS AND NOW TELL ME TO CALL NHTSA. THEY ARE NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT. ALL THE WHILE I AM UNPROTECTED IN MY VEHICLE. PLEASE RESPOND.
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING DOWN A MAIN STREET AT RUSH HOUR. THE CAR JUST STOPPED RUNNING AND WOULD NOT RESTART. TO LEAVE THE VEHICLE MY WIFE HAD TO TAKE HER LIFE IN HER HANDS TO GET ACROSS THE BUSY STREET. IT WAS FORTUNATE THAT THIS DID NOT HAPPEN ON A BUSY FREEWAY OR SHE OR SOMEONE ELSE MAY HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED.
VEHICLE IS EQUIPED WITH AUTOMATIC FOLDING REAR VIEW MIRRORS. WHILE PARKED THE VEHICLE'S RIGHT VIEW MIRROR FOLDED ITSELF IN THE MOST FORWARD POSITION. NOW THE DRIVER (ME) IS INABLE TO USE THE RIGHT VIEW MIRROR. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY HAZARD. BMW IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM IN MANY OF THEIR VEHICLES, BUT THEIR OWN SOLUTION IS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE MIRROR AT THE COST OF THE OWNER. THIS IS A HEFTY $750.00 CHARGE NOT INCLUDING INSTALLATION. BMW SHOULD TAKE OWNERSHIP OF THIS PROBLEM AND FIX THE ISSUE AT NO COST TO THE CUSTOMER. THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT REQUIRES IMMEDIAT INTERVENTION TO PREVENT AN AVOIDABLE ACCIDENT.
MY 2006 BMW 325I HAS DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHTS THAT CONTINUE TO COME UP AFTER MUCH TIME & EFFORT HAS BEEN SPENT TO GET THEM FIXED. THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT, THE SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT, & THE FLAT TIRE MONITOR WARNING LIGHT HAVE CAUSED MUCH STRESS & FRUSTRATION DUE TO THE ISSUES NOT BEING ADDRESSED AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS WITH THE DEALERSHIP AS WELL AS OTHER INDEPENDENT COMPANIES. I AM WORRIED THAT IF AN ACCIDENT DOES OCCUR THAT MY SAFETY WILL BE IN GREAT DANGER & THIS IS SOMETHING THAT EVERY CAR OWNER UNDERSTANDS. I AM AT A LOSS AT THIS POINT & DO NOT WANT TO CONTINUE TO SPEND COUNTLESS DOLLARS WHEN THE ENDS DO NOT JUSTIFY THE MEAN.
MY PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG SENSOR MAT HAS FAILED. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED ON THIS VEHICLE. OTHER MODELS OF THE 2006 BMW 3 SERIES ARE INCLUDED IN A PASSENGER AIR BAG SENSOR RECALL. I FEEL MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN WRONGLY LEFT OUT OF THE RECALL.

I STARTED THE CAR AND GOT A 'PERSONAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM FAILURE' MESSAGE. I'VE CHECKED MESSAGE BOARDS FOR BMW AND APPARENTLY THIS IS SOMETHING THEY ISSUED A RECALL FOR A FEW YEARS BACK BUT NOW IT SHOWS 'NO RECALL' WHEN I TYPE IN MY VIN. ACCORDING TO THE MESSAGE BOARDS, OTHERS WITH THE SAME MESSAGE WERE TOLD INITIALLY BY BMW THAT THIS WASN'T A RECALL BUT WHEN PUSHED WERE TOLD IT WAS AND IT WAS FIXED. I'M WONDERING ABOUT GETTING SOMETHING ABOUT THESE RECALLS FROM YOUR AGENCY BEFORE GOING TO ARGUE WITH THE BMW DEALERSHIP?

A FAULTY PASSENGER OCCUPANCY AIRBAG SENSOR WARNING LIGHT HAS BEEN REPEATEDLY APPEARING. OWN RESEARCH SUGGESTS THAT AS A RESULT OF THIS FAULT THE PASSENGER AIRBAG MAY NOT DEPLOY IN A CRASH. THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE EXTREMELY COMMON TO BMWS FROM AROUND THIS TIME AND A NON-DEPLOYING AIRBAG WOULD POSE A LIFE-THREATENING SAFETY RISK. BMW HAS AS YET APPARENTLY REFUSED TO ISSUE A RECALL.
