MY AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT IS ON. THE BMW DEALERSHIP WILL NOT PROVIDE ME ANY INFORMATION AS TO THE MAKER OF THE AIRBAG OTHER THAN TELLING ME IT'S NOT ONE OF THE RECALLED TANAKA AIRBAGS. MANY OTHER BMW MODELS OF THE SAME YEAR HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR DEFECTIVE TANAKA AIRBAGS, SO I'M NOT REASSURED BY THEIR RESPONSE . A FRIEND WITH SAME YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL OF BMW SUFFERED PERMANENT EYE DAMAGE WHEN HIS AIRBAG DEPLOYED UNEXPECTEDLY IN SLOW MOVING COLLISION. I AM AFRAID OF THE SAME CONSEQUENCES. BMW, AS WELL AS OTHER MANUFACTURERS, SHOULD BE ABLE TO PROVIDE CUSTOMERS PROOF THAT A TANAKA, OR SIMILAR DEFECTIVE AIRBAG, WAS NOT USED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 BMW 330I. WHEN THE PASSENGER SEAT WAS OCCUPIED, THE AIR BAG PASSENGER RESTRAINT, SEAT BELT, AND AIR BAG MALFUNCTION WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER (PACIFIC BMW LOCATED AT 800 S BRAND BLVD, GLENDALE, CA 91204) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE OCCUPANT SEAT SENSOR MALFUNCTION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 154,235.

REAR EXTERIOR SAFETY LIGHTING DOES NOT WORK DUE TO DESIGN FLAW WHERE TRUNK LID BREAKS GROUND WIRES. RECALL ALREADY DONE ON OTHER MODEL YEARS. BMW SKIPPED RECALL ON 2006 E90S. MANY CONSUMERS ARE STILL HAVING THE SYSTEM SHORT DUE TO GROUND AND CRIMP ISSUES. HUGE SAFETY ISSUE WITH POTENTIAL FIRES AND OR CRASHES
I WAS DRIVING FROM SCHOOL AND PUSH THE GAS AND 15MPH THE CAR JERKED IN TRANSMISSION LIGHT CAME ON. THE CAR WENT INTO SAFE MODE. I COULD NOT DRIVE OVER 40 MP. THE DEALER SHIP SAID THE TRANSMISSION MECHATRONIC MAY HAVE MALFUNCTION. SOMETHING INSIDE OF THE TRANSMISSION THE MANUFACTURER BUILD IT WITH A PLASTIC VALVE COVER IT'S COMMON ON BMW THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE. THERE ARE OVER 67,000 COMPLAINTS ON LINE FOR THE SAME ISSUE. WHERE IS THE RECALL!. YOU PAY FOR THIS EXPENSIVE CAR TO PAY 7000 TO FIX. I AM LOOKING TO START A LAW SUIT IF THEY DON'T RECALL AND FIX THIS COMMON EXPENSIVE PROBLEM!
I HAVE 77,000 MILES ON THIS CAR AND THE WATER PUMP HAS BECOME DEFECTIVE AS I BEGAN TO SEACH ONLINE ABOUT THIS ISSUE I SEE THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINT ABOUT THE SAME YEAR AND MODEL OF MY CAR I BELEIVE THIS PART SHOULD BE RECALLED
AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON WITH PASSENGER IN THE SEAT WHILE GOING OVER A BUMP. THIS IS DUE TO A DEFECTIVE PASSENGER SEAT OCCUPANCY SENSOR, WHICH WAS THE SUBJECT OF A RECALL FOR OTHER CARS OF THE SAME MODEL YEAR, HOWEVER MY CAR'S VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 BMW 325I. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO INFORMED THAT FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE AIR BAG CODE NEEDED TO BE RESET. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED FOR MOST RECENT FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 142,000.
4/27/2015, 4:00 AM THE CAR IS SITTING WITHIN 6 FEET OF MY HOUSE AND MY HUSBAND AND I AWOKE TO AN EXPLOSION. THE BMW WAS ON FIRE FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND BURNING OUT OF CONTROL. THE CAR HAS BEEN PARKED INSIDE OUR GARAGE SINCE 4/25/2015 AND IT WAS ONLY MOVED ABOUT 100 FEET ON 4/27/15. THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD ZERO MODIFICATIONS OR REPAIRS. THE BMW'S MOTOR AND FRONT END OF THE CAR IS COMPLETELY DESTROYED AND THE VEHICLE IS TOTALED. OUR HOME WOULD HAVE BEEN DESTROYED HAD I NOT USED 4 FIRE EXTINGUISHERS AND A WATER HOSE ON THE CAR AND HOUSE UNTIL THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED. ONLINE THERE ARE NUMEROUS BMW OWNERS WITH THIS COMPLAINT EITHER THE VEHICLE WAS SITTING AND SOME PEOPLE WERE EVEN DRIVING THEM WHEN THEY CAUGHT FIRE. OBVIOUSLY THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH SOME OF THE BMW'S THAT ARE CAUSING FIRES AND PUTTING PEOPLES LIVES AT RISK. THIS BMW WAS MY HUSBANDS AND WASN'T FULLY INSURED AND I HAVE A BMW THAT I LOVED UNTIL THIS INCIDENT AND I AM EXTREMELY FEARFUL OF DRIVING NOW. I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE A MAJOR CONCERN FOR ALL BMW DRIVERS TO HAVE THIS INVESTIGATED AND SOMEONE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE ISSUES THE BMW'S ARE HAVING. I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO KNOW THE STATISTICS FOR BMW'S THAT HAVE FILED FIRE COMPLAINTS. *TR
I WAS UNABLE TO START VEHICLE BECAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED, THERE WAS AN AMBER STEERING WHEEL SYMBOL BEING DISPLAYED. AFTER SEARCHING FOR ANSWERS, I FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM MANY DRIVERS HAVE HAD. THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE FIXED AS IT IS NOT EASILY DETECTABLE AND CAN HAPPEN UNEXPECTEDLY. *TR

I AM YET ANOTHER BMW OWNER REPORTING VALVE VMCOVER GASKET ISSUES. BMW IS NOT BEING MADE TO RECALL THIS PART. ALUMINUM BOLTS THAT NEVER SHOULD HAVE BEEN USED AND WERE LATER REPLACED GOING FORWARD BUT HAVE NOT BEEN ADDRESSED. THIS IS A SERIOUS CONCERN FINANCIALLY FOR COUNTLESS OWNERS THAT HAVE HAD TO GET THESE FIXED, AND IS A SAFETY CONCERN AS LEAKING OIL COULD CAUSE ENGINE FIRES. MAKE THIS RIGHT NHTSA BY HOLDING BMW RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS DEFECT THAT THEY HAVE BEEN WELL AWARE OF FOR TEN YEARS.
PASSENGER AIRBAG WARNING SYSTEM KEEPS COMING ON. IT IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. *TR
THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND I CALLED BMW CUSTOMER RELATIONS. THEY TOLD ME TO TAKE IT TO A BMW DEALER TO HAVE THE FRONT SEAT OCCUPANT PROTECTION MAT REPLACED UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY (NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 13V564000). THE BMW DEALER IN LONG BEACH SAID IT ISN'T LISTED AS A RECALL ITEM AND THEY WANT $180 JUST TO PERFORM A CHECK TO SEE IF THERE IS A PROBLEM, WHICH IS RIDICULOUS. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER MORE THAN THREE TIMES AND THEY REFUSED TO REMEDY THE REPAIR WITHOUT HAVING TO DO AN EXTENSIVE DIAGNOSTIC. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EXCLUDED IN A MANUFACTURER RECALL FOR THE VEHICLE. AS THE FAILURE PROGRESSED, THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM FAILED TO WORK AND AN ERROR MESSAGE DISPLAYED FOR AN AIR BAG MALFUNCTION. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 14V428000 (AIR BAGS) AND 13V564000 (AIR BAGS). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED NO REMEDY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED FOR MONTHS WITH THE FAILURE PROGRESSING. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

TAKATA RECALL. THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT SENSOR IN MY 2006 BMW IS DEFECTIVE MAKING THE PASSENGER AIRBAGS TURNED OFF DURING THE EVENT OF A CRASH WHEN CAR IS ON OR RUNNING AIRBAG AND SEATBELT LIGHT TURN ON. MANY OTHER 2006 BMWS LIKE MINE ARE AFFECTED WITH THIS ISSUE. A RECALL HAS BEEN DONE FOR BMWS FOR MODELS 2007 AND NEWER BUT NOT FOR THE 2006 MODEL YEAR. A RECALL NEEDS TO BE DONE FOR THIS YEAR MAKE TO INSURE THE SAFETY OF PEOPLE AND PASSENGERS RIDING IN THIS CAR. I USE THIS CAR AS A DAILY DRIVER WITH MY 5 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER. PLEASE UPDATE NEW INFO ASAP

I HAD BEEN USING THE CAR REGULARLY DRIVING TO AND FROM WORK. RANDOMLY THE YELLOW LIGHT POPS UP OF THE STEERING LOCK SIGN THEN A COUPLE DAYS LATER THE CAR SHUTS DOWN AND THE LIGHT TURNS RED. THE CAR THEN WOULD NOT START. THERE WAS NOTHING I COULD DO THE CAR WAS PARKED AT MY WORK AND WAS FORCED TO GET IT TOWED TO BMW. *JS

AIR BAG SENSOR IN FRONT PASSENGER SEAT APPEARS TO BE FAILING. IT IS DISABLING THE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG WHILE THERE IS A PASSENGER IN THE SEAT, WITH THE SEATBELT BUCKLED. THERE IS AN OPEN RECALL FOR THIS ITEM ON OTHER BMW 3-SERIES FOR MY MODEL YEAR, BUT NOT MY PARTICULAR VEHICLE.
BROKEN CYLINDER HEAD BOLT NEAR OIL FILTER HOSING FOUND THIS TO BE A VERY VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH (N52) ENGINES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2006 BMW 325I. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, BURNING FUMES AND BLACK SMOKE STARTED TO EMIT FROM THE DASHBOARD. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT FLAMES WERE COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE STEERING WHEEL. AS A RESULT, THE DOORS LOCKED, THE WINDSHIELD GLASS CRACKED, AND THE WIRING WAS SEVERELY BURNED AND CAUSED ALL THE WARNING INDICATORS TO ILLUMINATE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 137,000.

THERE IS A CLEAR MANUFACTURING DEFECT CONCERNING THE ALUMINUM SCREWS ASSOCIATED WITH THE VALVE COVER GASKET AND THE ALUMINUM HEAD BOLTS ON 2006 BMW 325I'S. THE NHTSA HAS RECEIVED MANY COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS DEFECT. THE ALUMINUM SCREWS/BOLTS HAVE BEEN REDESIGNED SINCE DISCOVERING THIS MANUFACTURING DEFECT. BMWNA HAVE HAD NUMEROUS SERVICE ISSUES RELATED TO THESE DEFECTIVE ALUMINUM SCREWS/BOLTS. THEY HAVE OPENLY ADMITTED THAT THE SCREWS/BOLTS IN QUESTION WERE DEFECTIVE IN NATURE AND PRODUCTION, AND THAT THE SCREWS/BOLTS HAVE BEEN REDESIGNED TO AVOID FUTURE FAILURES. SOME OF THESE COMPLAINTS INCLUDED, AND RESULTED IN, VEHICLES LEAKING OIL IN THE ENGINE AREA, POTENTIALLY CAUSING FIRES IN THE VEHICLE. THE DEFECTIVE SCREWS/BOLTS POSE A SERIOUS POTENTIAL RISK TO THE SAFETY OF THE OWNERS OF THESE VEHICLES, AS WELL AS TO OTHER DRIVERS WHO SHARE THE ROADWAY WITH THEM. IT IS MY STRONG BELIEF THAT THIS PUBLIC SAFETY RISK CANNOT GO ON ANY FURTHER WITHOUT PROPER INTERVENTION FROM THE GOVERNMENTAL AGENCIES WE EMPLOY AS TAXPAYERS. I RESPECTFULLY REQUEST THAT BMWNA ISSUE A VOLUNTARY RECALL OF THE BMW 2006 325I'S AFFECTED BY THIS MANUFACTURING DEFECT. IF BMWNA DECLINES TO ISSUE A VOLUNTARY RECALL, I RESPECTFULLY REQUEST THAT THE NHTSA ISSUE A MANDATORY RECALL FOR THIS DEFECT. I HAVE LEARNED THAT BMW OF NORTH AMERICA IS AWARE OF THE DEFECTIVE ALUMINUM SCREWS/BOLTS, AND HAS ISSUED AN INTERNAL "TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN" (TSB) TO FOREWARN DEALERSHIPS OF THIS MANUFACTURING DEFECT, AND THE STEPS TO REMEDY THE ISSUE. I HAVE DILIGENTLY MAINTAINED MY VEHICLE AS PRESCRIBED BY THE SERVICE MANUALS, AS WELL AS THE ON BOARD COMPUTER IN THE VEHICLE. MY CONTENTION IS EXTREMELY CLEAR; THE ALUMINUM BOLTS ARE A MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND SHOULD BE FIXED AT NO COST TO THE CONSUMER! *TR
I HAD A FULL SIZED ADULT PASSENGER IN THE FRONT SEAT. WHILE DRIVING THE AIRBAG LIGHT WENT OFF AS WELL AS THE " PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF" LIGHT AND SEAT BELT LIGHT. THE PASSENGER WAS HEAVY ENOUGH FOR AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. AFTER THE PASSENGER GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE THE LIGHT STAYED ON FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES BEFORE TURNING OFF RANDOMLY. BEFORE THIS INCIDENT THE LIGHT WOULD COME ON BRIEFLY BY ITSELF WITH NO ONE IN THE SEAT BUT THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IT REALLY ACTED UP. I CHECKED THE VIN TO SEE IF IT HAD ANY RECALLS AND IT SHOWED 0. I CHECKED ONLINE FOR RECALLS IN GENERAL AND DID SEE ONE FOR THIS ISSUE SAME MODEL AND YEAR BUT STANDARD SEATS NOW I HAVE THE UPGRADED SEATS BUT THE ISSUE IS STILL THE SAME. THE TECHNICIAN DETERMINED THAT THE AIR BAG INFLATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ALSO, THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V428000 (AIR BAG). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 113,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

I HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD, COMPLEMENTS OF MOONACHIE, NEW JERSEY ROUTE 120, NEW JERSEY HAS THE WORST ROADS IN THE COUNTRY AND ONE OF THE HIGHEST TAXES TOO. I HAD AN AUTO PARTS PLACE THAT SOLD ME 2-STRUTS-2 SHOCKS, WHICH THE ROADS RIPPED APART ON MY CAR TELL ME, HE'D BE OUT OF BUSINESS IF IT WASN'T FOR NEW JERSEY. AFTER I HIT THE CRATER IN THE ROAD I FELT A LOUD RATTLE BUMPING SOUND WHEN I SLOWED DOWNED AND ACCELERATED, THE ENGINE NEVER REALLY IDLED RIGHT AFTERWARDS. I HAD A FRIEND LOOK AT THE CAR AND HE TOLD ME ALL FOUR BOLTS CONNECTED TO THE MOTOR MOUNTS, ALL OF THE BOLTS SEPARATED AND BROKE OFF IN THE ENGINE, THEY SNAPPED OFF COMPLETELY AND BROKE THE MOTOR MOUNTS AS WELL. I HEAR FROM READING ON THIS SITE THE BOLTS WERE A MANUFACTURES REJECT, FAULTY BOLTS. THAT BEING SAID , I WISH I COULD LITIGATE AGAINST BMW FOR USING THE BOLTS AND THE STATE OF NEW JERSEY FOR NOT PROPERLY CARING FOR THE ROADS AND LEAVING HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS ON THE ROADS WHICH I MIGHT ADD BE FATAL FOR SOME UNFORTUNATE PERSON. HAD A WARNING LIGHT THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE AIRBAG SYSTEM. I TOOK IT TO MOMENTUM BMW IN WEST HOUSTON AND THEY REPLACED THE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG MAT FOR A COST OF $1,199. I RESEARCHED THE INTERNET AND DISCOVERED A NHTSA 13V564000 CAMPAIGN. I CALLED BMW CUSTOMER SERVICE (800-525-7417) AND GAVE THEM MY VIN #. THEY SAID DUE TO PROBLEMS THAT HAD OCCURRED WITH PASSENGER AIRBAGS ON THIS MODEL, THE WARRANTY HAD BEEN EXTENDED TO 10 YEARS UNDER THIS 13V564000 CAMPAIGN WHICH STARTED IN JANUARY 2014. MOMENTUM BMW SAID THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM IN OCTOBER 2009 AND THAT THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. I THINK THE CURRENT PROBLEM DOESN'T RELATE TO WHAT MOMENTUM FIXED IN OCTOBER 2009, OR THAT THE PARTS THAT WERE USED WERE ALSO FAULTY OR DEFECTIVE. I WOULD LIKE BMW TO PAY FOR MY COST TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. *TR

MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT SAID THE VIN DID NOT FALL WITHIN THE RANGE OF THE RECALL. DID NOT AUTHORIZE REPAIR ON THE VEHICLE DUE TO $700 ESTIMATED REPAIR COST. CLEARLY THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH THE BMW 2006 325I AS APPARENT WITH THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS ISSUE. *TR
VEHICLE HAD A YELLOW STEERING WHEEL AND LOCK DISPLAY ON THE DASH WHEN I TRIED TO START MY CAR. AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPT TO START THE CAR IN EVERY POSSIBLY WAY, IT STILL DID NOT START. PUT KEY IN, PULLED IT OUT MULTIPLE TIMES; LOCKED CAR, UNLOCKED CAR; WIGGLED STEERING WHEEL WHILE TRYING TO START THE CAR (PUSH START). NOTICED WHEN KEY IS PUSHED INTO KEY HOLE, IT LATCHES, BUT DOES NOT GIVE ANY ELECTRICAL POWER TO THE CAR, OR RELEASE THE STEERING WHEEL. STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED. CAR HAS NO POWER TO OTHER FUNCTIONS IN CAR. CAR CAN'T BE SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL TO MOVE CAR. THE CAR IS PRETTY MUCH UNUSABLE. *TR

THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 107,000.
CAR HAS AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS, USES A FOB. PARKED THE CAR, LOCKED THE DOORS WITH THE FOB. WHEN I TRIED TO UNLOCK THE DOORS WITH THE FOB, IT ONLY CLICKS - DID NOT UNLOCK. USED THE KEY TO UNLOCK THE DRIVERS DOOR, BUT FOUND THAT ONCE LOCKED, NO DOORS WILL UNLOCK, NOT EVEN MANUALLY FROM INSIDE THE CAR. THE ONLY DOOR THAT WILL LOCK OR UNLOCK IS THE DRIVER'S DOOR, AND THEN ONLY WITH THE KEY FROM THE OUTSIDE. THE POST THAT POPS UP AND DOWN TO INDICATE THAT THE DOOR IS LOCKED IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PULL UP, AND PULLING THE INSIDE DOOR HANDLE DOES NOTHING. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY VERY DANGEROUS. AT THE VERY LEAST, THEY SHOULD REDESIGN THE LOCKS SO THAT THEY CAN BE OPENED FROM INSIDE MANUALLY IN CASE OF AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE!!!! *TR
