TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 BMW 335I. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE VEHICLE WOULD DRAMATICALLY DECELERATE AND THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT ALSO HEARD A LOUD CLUCKING NOISE AND THE VEHICLE JERKED EXCESSIVELY WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE. ON ONE OCCASION, WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE; HOWEVER, THEY STATED THAT THE FUEL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM WAS CAUSING THE FAILURE. THE DEALER ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE FIVE TIMES, BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VIN AND ENGINE SIZE WERE UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 33,995.
I JUST BOUGHT A BMW 335 IN DECEMBER 2006, LESS THAN 7,000 MILES AND WHILE DRIVING IN THE HIGHWAY THE MALFUNCTION ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON. THE CAR STARTED TO IDLE AND THERE WAS ALMOST COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER. WHEN I TRIED TO TAKE THE CAR TO SERVICE THEY INITIALLY REFUSED TO TAKE THE CAR BECAUSE I HAD NOT MADE AN APPOINTMENT. SUCH AN EXPENSIVE CAR AND ITS FALLING APART JUST A FEW MILES AFTER. FINALLY THEY LOOK INTO THE PROBLEM AND IT SEEMS TO BE THE HIGH PRESSURE GASOLINE PUMP. I'VE READ ONLINE THAT SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM BUT STILL BMW REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE IT. *TR
SUBSTANTIAL POWER LOSS, MANY EPISODES (5 AT LEAST), BMW DOES NOT SEEM TO BE ABLE TO CORRECT. HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP AND INJECTORS REPLACED TWICE. PROBLEM STILL EXISTS THIS HAS HAPPENED AT 70MPH, CAR BOGGED TO 20MPH. BARLEY GOT OFF FREEWAY LAST TWO TIMES . *TR
SLOW STARTING STARVING FOR GAS ALWAYS HAPPENS AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN OFF FOR OVERNIGHT. THIS LEADS TO THE CAR GOING INTO LIMP MODE THAT IS DANGEROUS ON THE ROAD. A COMMON ISSUE WITH DBW NEW 335 ENGINES, FUEL PUMPS HAVE BEEN A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH MANY CARS EITHER NOT STARTING OR GOING INTO LIMP MODE. REPLACED WITH THE SAME PUMP THAT HAS FAILED IN MANY CARS FROM 2007 TO NOW 2008 MODELS. *TR
4 DAYS AFTER CAR WAS LEASE BRAND NEW 2007 BMW 328I FAILED ON THE ROAD WHERE IT COMPLETELY HALTED WITH NO WARNING SYSTEM. IT WAS ON SURFACE STREETS LUCKILY NOT ON THE HIGHWAY OR IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A CAR ACCIDENT WITH POSSIBLE DEADLY CONSEQUENCES. AFTER 3 DAYS STILL NOT DIAGNOSTIC RESULT! BRAND NEW! NOT USED. *JB
BMW 335 WINDSHIELD USES DEFECTIVE GLASS. *TR
I HAVE HAD TWO FUEL PUMPS REPLACED FOR MY BMW 335I AND IT IS VERY ANNOYING. THE EVENTS LEADING UP TO THE FAILURE WERE VERY LONG CRANKS WHEN I STARTED THE CAR AND ONE TIME MY CAR EVEN ALMOST BROKE DOWN AND WOULDN'T START ON ME... BMW REPLACED BOTH THE FUEL PUMPS THAT WENT DEAD AND FOR ONE OF THEM I HAD TO WAIT THREE WEEKS TO GET IT... =/ VERY MAD!! *TR
MY NEW BMW 335I SEDAN STARTED LOSING POWER AND EVENTUALLY VIBRATED TO A HALT. FUEL PUMP FAILURE. DEALER HAD MEMO ON DCS BUT FAILED TO ACKNOWLEDGE SO. *JB
2 FUEL PUMP FAILURES RESULTING IN OVER ONE MONTH WITHOUT VEHICLE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR HESITATION OCCURRED OUT OF NOWHERE, CAR STARTED IDLING POORLY AND ENGINE REDUCED POWER CAME ON DASHBOARD, LIMP MODE, CAR SHUT OFF, TRIED TO RESTART AND IT RESTARTED AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, ENGINE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND CAR IDLED REALLY BAD WANTING TO SHUT OFF AT EVERY STOP, TOOK IT FOR SERVICE AT DEALER AND WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A DEFECTIVE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP, REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. CAR WAS 2 MONTHS OLD WITH ONLY 2,300 MILES ON IT. *TR
MY 2007 BMW MODEL 328I WAS DELIVERED NEW WITH BRIDGESTONE RUN-FLAT-TIRES AS ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT BUT WITH NO JACK AND SPARE TIRE INCLUDED. THE RUN-FLAT-TIRES HAVE PROVEN TO BE UNRELIABLE, NOISY, AND PRONE TO LOW-MILEAGE WEAR OUT. I HAVE FILED TWO WRITTEN CLAIMS WITH BMW OF NORTH AMERICA FOR REIMBURSEMENT OF THE EXPENSES NECESSARY TO PURCHASE A SPARE EMERGENCY WHEEL AND JACK KIT. BMWNA HAS DENIED BOTH CLAIMS. BMWNA CONTINUES TO DELIVER 3-SERIES AND OTHER MODEL NEW VEHICLES WITHOUT A JACK AND SPARE INCLUDED. I BELIEVE THIS ESSENTIAL SAFETY EQUIPMENT SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN ALL NEW-CAR DELIVERIES, REGARDLESS OF TIRE TYPE USED. A CIVIL CLASS-ACTION SUIT HAS BEEN FILED IN NEW JERSEY REGARDING THE ISSUE WITH BMW'S USE OF BRIDGESTONE RUN-FLAT-TIRES, BUT THE SUIT DOES NOT ADDRESS JACK AND SPARE TIRE SAFETY EQUIPMENT ISSUES. *TR
MY BMW LOST POWER ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS.IT WAS IN BMW SERVICE FOR 6 WEEKS DISCOVERED A PROBLEM WITH MANIFOLD "LEAKING OIL AND NO POWER TO TWIN TURBO. FACTORY MAN COULD NOT FIND THE CAUSE. THEY HAD TO TEAR DOWN THE ENGINE FINALLY AFTER WE WERE LOSING OUR PATIENCE TO FINALLY "FIND THE PROBLEM". THIS WAS WHEN THE CAR WAS BRAND NEW. HAVE HAD MULTIPLE TRIPS TO BMW SERVICE FOR STALLING AND LOSS OF POWER ON THE ROAD. HAVE HAD TO RESET THE"CARS' "SYSTEM AGAIN ON 2 OCCASIONS.BMW DID EXTEND THE SERVICE WARRANTY ON THE TURBO AND FUEL PUMP. TONIGHT HAD COMPLETE POWER FAILURE ON HIGHWAY. HAD TO STOP AND START AND GO SEVERAL HUNDRED FEET.CAR LIMPED HOME INTO THE GARAGE. IM SURE MY TRIP TO THE BMW SERVICE STATION WILL BE AN EXERCISE IN FUTILITY SINCE THEY TELL ME THE CAR IS FINE. THERE MUST BE SOME ISSUE WITH THE TWIN TURBO ENGINE. *TR
I OWN A 2007 BMW 335I COUPE. AT 9,000 MILES I STARTED NOTICING A STRANGE SOUND COMING FORM THE TIRE AREA. IT GRADUALLY GOT WORSE. AT 10,000 MILES I NOTICED PHYSICAL SIGNS OF "SCALLOPING" AND ACTUAL UNEVEN (QUITE DRAMATICALLY UNEVEN) WEAR. IT LOOKED AS THOUGH THE LEADING EDGES OF SOME, JUST SOME, TREADS WERE ACTUALLY AS MUCH OF A QUARTER IN LOWER THAN THE BACK SIDE OF THE SAME TREAD AND OF COURSE THE BACK SIDE OF THE TREAD IT WAS ADJACENT TO. IT ALMOST LOOKS LIKE RUBBER HAS LITERALLY BEEN THROWN OFF THE TIRE. THAT'S HOW BIG THE DIFFERENCE IN HEIGHTS IS OF THE RANDOM TREADS. THIS WAS TRUE ON BOTH THE INNER AND OUTER EDGES OF THE TIRES AND EVEN THE MIDDLE. THIS WOULD EXPLAIN THE THRUMMING NOISE. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO GET IT INTO THE DEALER AND WITHOUT EVEN LOOKING AT THE TIRES THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID, "BRIDGESTONE WILL REPLACE THE TIRES UP TO 20,000 MILES AND PAY HALF THE COST". I SAID THAT THESE TIRES WEREN'T WORN OUT, THEY WERE WEARING EXTREMELY UNEVENLY. CUPPING AND SCALLOPING LIKE I HAVE NEVER SEEN. HE SAID IT WAS THE DESIGN OF THE CARS, THAT BMW MAKES THEM VERY AGGRESSIVELY TO HANDLE THE WAY THEY DO AND ANY TIRE WOULD DO THAT. I ASKED IF I COULD GET THEM REPLACED WITH CONTINENTALS SINCE I HAVE HEARD THEY HAD LESS PROBLEMS WITH THOSE. HE SAID NO, ONLY WHAT WAS ON THERE AS BMW WASN'T WARRANTING THE TIRES, BRIDGESTONE WAS. THEY DIDN'T OFFER TO ROTATE THEM, LOOK AT THE ALIGNMENT, NOTHING, JUST REPLACE AT HALF COST. SO 9 MONTHS AND NOW 11,000 MILES INTO A $50K CAR I AM FORCED TO PAY ABOUT $5-600 DOLLARS JUST SO I CAN TALK TO MY PASSENGERS AND BE HEARD OVER THE TIRE NOISE. I REALLY FEEL THAT THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE AS ONLY PART OF THE TIRE IS IN CONTACT WITH ROAD AT ANY TIME. *TR
A SMALL ROCK HIT THE WINDSHIELD DURING DRIVING, AND THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED. THIS WINDSHIELD APPEARS TO BE EXTREMELY SENSITIVE TO CHIPPING AND CRACKING WHEN HIT BY RELATIVELY SMALL ROAD DEBRIS. *TR
EXPERIENCED FUEL PUMP FAILURE ON MY 2007 BMW 335I AND BECAME A SAFETY HAZARD TO OTHERS DRIVING BEHIND ME ON MY WAY TO WORK. STARTED EXPERIENCING SYMPTOMS AS RECENTLY AS A MONTH AGO, SUCH AS LONG ENGINE CRANK TIMES, VERY ROUGH IDLING UPON STARTUP, AND OCCASIONAL "LIMP MODE" PERFORMANCE. IN SPITE OF ALL THIS, THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT WORK ON MY CAR UNTIL I EXPERIENCED A "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" (SES) WARNING LIGHT. THE FUEL PUMP PROGRESSIVELY GOT WORSE WHERE THE ENGINE WOULD SHUDDER WHEN REVVING OVER 2000RPMS, AND THE CAR PERPETUALLY REMAINED IN LIMP MODE WHERE IT IS NOT ABLE TO ACCELERATE IN A SAFE ENOUGH MANNER TO DRIVE ON PUBLIC ROADS AND HIGHWAYS. I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO BRING MY CAR IN FOR WARRANTY REPAIR WHEN THE SES LIGHT CAME ON AT 7/25/07 ON MY 02/07 PRODUCTION VEHICLE. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS OVER A ONE MONTH WAIT FOR A FUEL PUMP REPLACEMENT. *JB
HIGH RATE OF FUEL PUMP FAILURES FOR THE 335I BMW, IF OCCURS ON THE HIGHWAY LEADS TO VERY DANGEROUS SITUATIONS. BMW SHOULD BE FORCED TO ISSUE A RECALL FOR SAFETY CONCERNS. *TR
I HAD JUST PURCHASED A BRAND NEW BMW 328I. WE WERE DRIVING ON I-5 FROM LOS ANGELES TO SAN FRANCISCO. I WAS ACCOMPANIED BY MY HUSBAND AND TWO DOGS. WE WERE TRAVELING ~80 MILES PER HOUR IN THE LEFT LANE. ALL OF THE SUDDEN AND WITHOUT WARNING, THE ENGINE TURNED COMPLETELY OFF ON THE VEHICLE. I LOST POWER STEERING AND BREAKING AND HAD NO OTHER OPTION THAN TO GLIDE INTO THE CENTER MEDIAN. UNFORTUNATELY, THERE WAS NOT SUFFICIENT ROOM FOR THE VEHICLE, SO THE RIGHT TIRES WERE IN THE LEFT LANE OF TRAFFIC. WE CALLED BMW ASSIST, BUT THEY SAID THEY WOULD NOT PICK US UP BECAUSE WE HAD DOGS IN THE CAR. WE WERE STUCK IN THE MEDIAN FOR NEARLY ONE HOUR, AROUND A BEND IN THE FREEWAY, WHERE OTHER CARS COULD NOT SEE US WELL UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE. A CALIFORNIA STATE TROOPER TOGETHER WITH A TOW TRUCK FINALLY RESCUED US FROM THE CENTER MEDIAN. HE SAID WE WERE IN GRAVE DANGER, WHICH WE OBVIOUSLY KNEW. AFTER THE INCIDENT I CALLED THE BEVERLY HILLS BMW DEALERSHIP, WHERE WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, AND SPOKE WITH THE MANAGER AND REPORTED THE ISSUE TO BMW ASSIST. I WAS FURIOUS THAT A VEHICLE WOULD TURN OFF AT THAT SPEED. THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD DOCUMENT THE CLAIM BUT THAT NO OTHER INCIDENCES OF THIS HAD BEEN REPORTED. THE LATTER IS INACCURATE, AS MANY PEOPLE APPARENTLY HAVE HAD THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. *TR
WINDSHIELD IS VERY SOFT AND ROCK CHIPS AND CRACKS VERY EASY. *JB
2007 BMW 335I HAS KNOWN WIDESPREAD FUEL PUMP PROBLEM WITH HIGH RATE OF FAILURE LEADING TO SUDDEN POWER LOSS. I HAVE NEW CAR WITH 1200 MI, WITH NO WARNING FROM DEALER ABOUT POTENTIAL PROBLEM, I EXPERIENCED NEAR COMPLETE POWER LOSS ON BUSY FREEWAY LEADING TO NEAR COLLISION. THIS CAR SHOULD BE CATEGORICALLY RECALLED UNTIL ALL FUEL PUMPS ARE REPLACED. MFR IS CONTINUING TO SELL THIS CAR WITH KNOWN DEFECT WITHOUT WARNING CONSUMER. WHEN PRESENTED WITH THIS PROBLEM, IT IS COMMON FOR A 2-3 MONTH BACKORDER ON REPLACEMENT PUMP WHICH ALSO HAS A HIGH FAILURE RATE. OVERALL, BMW'S POOR DESIGN, LACK OF THOROUGH TESTING BEFORE RELEASE OF NEW ENGINE, AND FAILURE TO WARN CUSTOMERS IS CREATING THIS UNACCEPTABLE HAZARD.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 BMW 328I. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH AND MAKING A RIGHT TURN, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED. THE CONTACT DROVE ACROSS SEVERAL LANES OF TRAFFIC WITHOUT CRASHING. THE BRAKES WERE SLOW TO RESPOND WHEN DEPRESSED AND THE ABS LIGHT ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ILLUMINATED. WHEN THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP, THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS STILL LOCKED. THE CONTACT SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE. WHEN SHE RESTARTED IT, THE VEHICLE BEGAN OPERATING NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT CURRENTLY REMAINS. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 3,183.
WHEN TRYING TO USE THE CONVERTIBLE ROOF- IT TRIES TO PUT ITSELF INTO THE TRUNK WHEN THE TRUNK IS CLOSED. ROOF GETS STUCK 1/2 WAY OPEN AND CLOSED. THE DEALER HAS TRIED TO FIX IT 3 TIMES. THE ROOF STILL CONTINUES TO TRY TO PUT ITSELF INTO THE TRUNK WITH THE TRUNK CLOSED. ROOF HAS BENT ITSELF TRYING TO PUT ITSELF INTO A CLOSED TRUNK. ROOF HAS BROKEN PARTS AS A RESULT OF ITS ATTEMPT TO PUT CONVERTIBLE ROOF INTO A CLOSED TRUNK. CAR IS INOPERABLE IN THIS CONDITION AS THE ROOF IS NOT SECURE. ANY ATTEMPT TO DRIVE THE CAR MIGHT CAUSE THE ROOF TO BOUNCE AROUND AS IT IS NOT CONNECTED AND LOCKED! *TR
I PURCHASED A 2007 BMW 335I ON 15 JUNE 2007, ON 16 JUNE 2007 THE CAR WOULD NOT START IN THE GROCERY STORE PARKING LOT. AFTER SEVERAL TRIES THE CAR STATED AND WE STUMBLED HOME. AFTER ARRIVING HOME THE CAR STARTED AND STALLED, THEN ALL THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. BOTTOM LINE CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALER, AND HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE CAR HAD 238 MILES ON IT. IT TOOK 3 WEEKS FOR THE DEALER TO GET THE PART. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ON THE 335 SERIES CAR. IF THIS HAPPENS IN TRAFFIC OR ON THE HIGHWAY, IT COULD BE A DISASTER. THIS REQUIRES SOME IMMEDIATE SCRUTINY AS IT IS STILL HAPPENING ON CARS WITH REPLACEMENT PUMPS AND 2008 MODELS AS WELL. *TR
--1. CAR STARTED TO IDLE ROUGH WHEN STARTED FROM COLD. CAR WOULD SHAKE AT TRAFFIC STOPS AND OFTEN FEEL SLUGGISH DURING ACCELERATION. --2. HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP FAILED AND CAR WENT INTO LIMP MODE. LIMP MODE IMMEDIATELY SHUT DOWN THE CAR AND COULD NOT BE STARTED AGAIN. THIS IS A SAFETY RISK AS CAR SHUTS DOWN AND COULD CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY WHEN TRAVELING AT HIGH SPEEDS. --3. AFTER WAITING 32 DAYS, THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED. BMW NORTH AMERICA CLAIMED NATIONAL BACKORDER ON THE PART. BMW KEPT THE FAILED FUEL PUMP. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 BMW 328I. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE KEYLESS ENTRY REMOTE WOULD NOT OPEN THE VEHICLE'S DOOR. SHE WAS ABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR MANUALLY WITH THE KEY, BUT IT BECAME STUCK IN THE IGNITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE BMW DEALER. THE 30G RELAY WAS REPLACED. ON JUNE 24, 2007, THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE BMW DEALER. THE KEY SLIDE AND THE RIBBON CABLE WERE REPLACED. ON JUNE 27, 2007, WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL THE VEHICLE OVER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE BMW DEALER WHERE IT IS AWAITING A DIAGNOSIS. THE POWERTRAIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 1,299 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 700.

I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND A ROCK FLEW UP FROM THE ROAD AND HIT MY WINDSHIELD. WHEN I GOT HOME, MY DAD NOTICED A CHIP IN THE CORNER OF MY WINDSHIELD. THE NEXT DAY, THE CHIP FORMED INTO A CRACK OVER A FOOT LONG. I HAD TO GET MY WINDSHIELD REPLACED. IT HAS ONLY BEEN TWO WEEKS WITH MY NEW WINDSHIELD AND THE OTHER DAY I WAS HIT BY A ROCK AGAIN, CREATING ANOTHER CHIP. SO FAR, THERE IS NO CRACK. AND I FOUND FORUMS THAT PEOPLE ALSO HAD THIS SAME ISSUE. *JB
ON COLD STARTS WITH MY 335I SEDAN, CAR WOULD TAKE 5-6 SECONDS TO START. HAPPENED AFTER 1,950 MILES, CONSECUTIVE MORNINGS AND EVENINGS. BROUGHT THE CAR INTO THE SHOP. THEY RESET THE COMPUTER AND DISCOVERED A FAILED FUEL PUMP. PART IS ON BACK ORDER, STILL NOT ETA ON ARRIVAL AND CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR OVER 3 WEEKS NOW. *TR
SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT CONTINUES TO GO ON AFTER NUMEROUS RESETS. *TR
I PURCHASED A NEW 2007 BMW 335I FROM BMW OF HONOLULU IN JAN 2007. 4 MONTHS LATER THE CAR STALLED WITH MY WIFE AND SON IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. CAR WAS TOWED IN TO BMW AND REMAINED THERE FOR OVER A MONTH. BMW COULD NOT GIVE ME A STATUS AS TO WHAT WAS GOING ON, NOR DID THEY TRY TO CONTACT ME. EVENTUALLY, I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP, WHICH I WOULD THINK WOULD BE A RECALL ITEM. THEY KNEW OF THE PROBLEM BUT DID NOT INFORM THEIR CUSTOMERS UNTIL CARS WERE TOWED IN TO THE DEALERSHIP. MY CAR IS IN THE SHOP NOW FOR SOME OTHER ISSUE. IT HAS BEEN TOWED IN 3 TIMES AND DRIVEN IN FOR OTHER REPAIRS 7 OTHER TIMES IN 2 YEARS. THIS HAS COST ME TO MISS WORK AND MOST OF ALL AN INCONVENIENCE TO MY FAMILY. USUALLY THERE IS NO LOANER AVAILABLE, SO YOU HAVE TO WAIT FOR A SHUTTLE WHICH DRIVES ALL OVER THE ISLAND DROPPING OFF EVERYONE ELSE WHO IS THERE HAVING THEIR 335I WORKED ON. I HAVE COMPLAINED WITH BMW OF NORTH AMERICA AND THEY FINALLY AGREED TO PAY A MONTHS CAR PAYMENT AND INSURANCE. I HAVE RECENTLY SUBMITTED ANOTHER ONLINE COMPLAINT WHICH I HAVE RECEIVED NO RESPONSE. SPOKE WITH BMW OF HONOLULU MANAGEMENT AND THEY ARE SUPPOSEDLY IN THE PROCESS OF BUYING BACK THE CAR AND TRYING TO PUT ME IN ANOTHER 335I. DON'T KNOW IF I WANT TO DO THAT. WHAT KILLS ME IS THEIR RELUCTANCE TO KEEP ME INFORMED OF ANYTHING. THEY TELL ME, I WILL GET THIS INFORMATION TO YOU ON A CERTAIN DAY AND I DON'T HEAR FROM THEM FOR DAYS AT A TIME. THE ONLINE BLOGS ARE AMAZING. THEIR COMMENTS SOUND EXACTLY LIKE MINE. THE DOOR LOCKS WOULD NOT WORK WITH THE FOB. I WAS LOCKED IN SIDE THE VEHICLE. WHEN I FINALLY GOT OUT AND TRIED TO OPEN THE DOORS FROM OUTSIDE, THE DOORS WOULD NOT OPEN. THIS SITUATION HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES OVER THE YEARS. I WAS TRAPPED INSIDE THE CAR DURING A HEAVY RAIN FALL ON THE ROAD LAST YEAR DUE TO THE DOORS NOT UNLOCKING. *TR
HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP FAILURE IN BMW 335I COUPE. 4 WEEKS TO REPLACE. *TR
IN OCTOBER OF 2009 MY LEASED VEHICLE DID NOT START, I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A DEALER FOR SERVICE IN DETROIT. I WAS TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE DID NOT START BECAUSE OF THE BATTERY. BATTERY WAS REPLACED AT THIS TIME. IN JANUARY OF 2010 THE VEHICLE DID NOT START AGAIN, AFTER TESTING IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN WAS DEFECTIVE. THIS WAS REPLACED AT MY EXPENSE. IN APRIL OF 2010 THE VEHICLE DID NOT START FOR A THIRD TIME. I CONTACTED A DEALER TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED IN; AFTER 5 DAYS THE DEALER IDENTIFIED THE PROBLEM AS A FAULTY NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE. I CONTACTED BMW NA AS I FELT THAT THIS MAY HAVE BEEN THE ORIGINAL ISSUE AND REASON FOR THE VEHICLE NOT STARTING. AFTER TWO WEEKS OF "INVESTIGATION" BMW NA CONTACTED ME AND STATED THAT DUE TO MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE NO ASSISTANCE WOULD BE GRANTED THE VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER LEASE AND WAS SOLD TO ME AS A DEMO VEHICLE WITH ROUGHLY 9000 MILES ALREADY ON IT AT TIME OF LEASE INCEPTION. *TR
TAKATA RECALL. AFTER BEING NOTIFIED BY BMW THAT MY CAR WAS BEING RECALLED FOR DANGEROUS AIRBAG DEPLOYMENTS I HAVE BEEN TERRIFIED TO DRIVE MY CAR OR LET MY LOVE ONES RIDE AS PASSENGERS. I HAVE BEEN DENIED USE OF MY VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THIS VERY DANGEROUS DEFECT WHILE WAITING FOR THE REPLACEMENT AIRBAGS FOR YEARS. I DESERVE COMPENSATION FROM BMW AND TAKATA AS DO ALL OTHER OWNERS WHO PURCHASED THEIR VEHICLES IN GOOD FAITH AND HAVE WAITED PATIENTLY FOR THIS HORRIBLE SITUATION TO BE RECTIFIED.
SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT HAS COME ON 5 TIMES WITHIN THE PAST 6 WEEKS. I HAVE RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP HAS ADVISED THE DEALERSHIP TO RESET THE COMPUTER PROGRAM, REPLACE A PURGE VALVE, AND EVENTUALLY HAS HAD TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE COMPUTER SYSTEM. THIS HAS RESULTED IN 5 VISITS TO THE DEALERSHIP AND AN EXTREME INCONVENIENCE. *TR
BMW 335 COUPE HPFP (HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP FOR DIRECT INJECTION) FAILED BEFORE 4,000 MILES. NO SIGNS OF FAILURE, CAR STARTED TO RUN ROUGH, WENT INTO "LIMP" MODE, AND THEN WOULD NOT RESTART WITHOUT DYING AGAIN AFTER A FEW MOMENTS. CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, AND WAS DIAGNOSED AS FUEL PUMP FAILURE. I HAD TO WAIT 7+ WEEKS WITH THE CAR IN SERVICE BECAUSE THE FUEL PUMP WAS ON INTERNATIONAL BACKORDER WITH 400+ UNITS ON BACKORDER! PUMP WAS REPLACED AFTER BEING IN THE SHOP FOR 7+ WEEKS, AND CAR IS RUNNING GOOD AGAIN.
I LEASED A BMW 328I 4 DOOR, AND THE DEALER DELIVERED THE NEW CAR FROM SPRING VALLEY , NY TO LAWRENCE, NY ON MARCH 1 2007. ON MARCH 13 2007, 12 DAYS LATER & 200 MILES ON THE CAR WHICH THE DEALER DROVE AT LEAST 100 OR MORE OF THE MILES, AND WHILE DRIVING INTO A GAS STATION FOR FIRST GAS FILLUP THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE CRACKED OFF THE TIE ROD, JUST CRACKED MY PICTURES , WHICH WAS UNBELIEVABLE. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE ORIGINAL DEALER BY BMW. THE CAR WAS LOOKED AT BY THE DEALER, AND THEIR RESPONSE WAS THAT I HIT SOMETHING A FEW DAYS AGO, AND BMW WAS NOT RESPOSIBLE FOR THIS. I SHOULD CALL MY INSURANCE OMPANY. I WAS APPALED BY THE RESPONSE, SO I STARTED WRITING & CALLING BMW OF NORTH AMERICA. I WAS ASSURED BY CUSTOMER RELATIONS THAT THEY WERE SENDING ENGINEERS TO SEE THE CAR IN SPRING VALLEY ,NY, AND RESPONDED TO THIS MATTER IN A TIMELY FASHION.*AK
I PURCHASED MY BMW 335I FROM A COSTA MESA USED CAR DEALER. THE PROBLEM WITH THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP WAS DISCLOSED TO ME AT TIME OF PURCHASE. HOWEVER THIS VEHICLE WAS AT ONE TIME IN ITS LIFE, AFFECTED BY THIS PROBLEM THAT SO MANY OTHER 335I OWNERS ARE FACING. WHILE I DIDN'T PROVIDE THE VIN NUMBER, THE CAR WAS MANUFACTURED IN SEPTEMBER 2006. THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THIS CAR BROUGHT THE CAR INTO A CA BMW DEALERSHIP AND IT WAS ULTIMATELY BOUGHT BACK BY THE DEALERSHIP, REPAIRED, SENT TO AN AUCTION, WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED BY THE USED CAR DEALERSHIP THAT I PURCHASED IT FROM IN APRIL 2008. AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE THE VEHICLE HAD 4000 MILES, SO THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED RATHER QUICKLY. *TR
