UNKNOWN since I have bought my 2008 bmw 328i I had one recalled fixed on my dash I have the air bag light and the brake light tire light service engine soon light on my door locks would work some times and then I had to open my car from the driver side manually then my drivers side window won't roll all the way up only half way then my car just wouldn't start out of the blue replace the starter ran for three weeks and wouldn't start again and has been sitting for a month now my passenger seat belt won't click in sometimes and my warranty is out but the recalls I have read are just what my car is doing I would like this matter to be looked in to and my car repaired at no cost its a safety issue an inconvenience and has cost me money wise extremely .
The plastic power pieces that goes over the battery melted. Ever since then I have had electrical problems. My concern is when that pieces melted it could have caused a fire. I dint even know it melted till I started have electrical problems and had to look at my battery. As far as the fuel problems I have a n51 and from what I understand the parts for it are hard to find I would like to know more about the bmw 15yr/150,000 mile warrenty that the bmw forms are talking about
I am experiencing a know issue others have complained about related to the high pressure fuel injector failure in my vehicle. There have been previous recalls for this and my vehicle should fall within the recall dates and is showing all of the symptoms of this failure yet is it some how not part of the recall. What is happening is on cold starts or even idle the car is shaking and has a very apparent misfire, I have checked the spark plugs and they indeed have fuel on them. The injectors are causing excessive fuel in the cylinder this leads to a host of problems that are potentially, catastrophic like the engine seizing while driving due to oil dilution from the fuel
The contact owns a 2008 BMW 328i. The contact stated that he had parked and turned off the vehicle, but about 20 minutes later he saw smoke coming from underneath the hood of the vehicle. The contact stated that he removed the battery from the vehicle. There were no injuries sustained. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The dealer was notified of the failure and advised the contact to tow the vehicle to their location for diagnosis. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, however, the dealer informed the contact that they could not diagnose the vehicle as the vehicle had caught fire. The dealer referred the contact to NHTSA. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 129,000.
The contact owns a 2008 BMW 328I. The contact stated that oil was leak from the vehicle. The contact then received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V119000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where she was informed that the oil leak was related to the PCV valve. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was informed that the part for the recall repair was not available and she was given an estimate for the repair. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the repair. The failure mileage was approximately 84,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
Recently had to replace a failed bulb in my 2008 BMW 328i, during the replacement i noticed crumbling insulation within the plastic headlight compartment - basically all i had to do was touch the headlight wires lightly and insulation would crumble and flake off - this insulation is badly degraded, probably made out of improper materials and could potentially pose a hazard if the wires inside were to short out due to lack of insulation. I was able to carefully slip some insulative sleeves around the failed insulation wire to effect a temporary fix (which i don't really trust) BMW should recall and replace this dangerous wiring.
with no warning my car just shut down as I was driving thank god I was able to pull over and park after not knowing what the problem was I inspected the battery and saw the positive cable was damaged how I don't know but it needs to be replaced I have had the car for 2 years and never had a problem it is available for inspection

WHILE COMING TO A STOP OR TAKING A TURN THE CAR WILL RANDOMLY SHUT OFF AT WHICH POINT I LOSE TOTAL CONTROL OVER THE CAR. AT THIS POINT I HAVE TO DO MY BEST TO COME TO A STOP SAFELY AND AVOID ANY POTENTIAL ACCIDENT. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL COME ON ONCE THE CAR SHUTS DOWN, BUT THE CAR WILL START RIGHT BACK UP AFTERWARDS AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT GOES AWAY. THE CAR WILL DRIVE NORMAL, BUT THIS HAPPENS OFTEN AND SCARED AS THERE IS NO WARNING SIGN OF WHEN THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN TO ME; I HAVE BEEN LUCKY SO FAR NOT TO GET INTO A MAJOR ACCIDENT.
The contact owns a 2008 BMW 328I. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the radiator would overheat as the temperature gauge would indicate that the engine was hot. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer where it was discovered that plastic parts inside the reservoir including the head gasket had melted and entered the radiator, which caused the failure. The contact also stated that while driving at 35 MPH, a greyish smoke began to emit from both the undercarriage and the engine of the vehicle. The contact pulled over and exited the vehicle with his children as he witnessed flames emitting from underneath the vehicle. A motorist behind him was able to pour a jug of water onto the fire which extinguished the flames. Due to the failure, the contact had the vehicle towed to his home. The manufacturer had been notified of the failure and informed him that the vehicle would not be covered under warranty. The contact had made minor repairs to the vehicle but the vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 127,000.
ENGINE CAMSHAFT(VANOS) ADJUSTMENT UNITS FAILING. BMW NA NEVER SENT OUT A RECALL WHEN KNEW OF IT IN 2018( SEE ATTACHED FEB 2018 SERVICE BULLETIN) . ON 8/27/20, TISHA OF BMW NJ OFFICE CLAIMS DEALER IS RESPONSIBLE BUT SAYS THERE IS NO RECALL OUTSTANDING. I TOOK IT TO DEALER CRITZ OF SAVANNAH, GA ON 8/27 WHO CLAIM THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THIS MANUFACTURER DEFECT AND THAT BMW ARE NOT BUILT TO LAST 12 YEARS. IT COST AT LEAST $4000 IF NOT MORE TO FIX A RECALL ITEM THAT BMW ISSUED FEB 2018 FOR THIS AND NEVER SENT TO US. IN 2018 , THEY RECALLED THIS CAR FOR OTHER SAFETY ISSUES (SEE ATTACHED) BUT HID THIS MAJOR DEFECT THEY KNEW ABOUT IN 2/2018. I AM ATTACHING A RECALL THAT MY AUTO REPAIR GAVE ME THAT WAS NEVER EVER GIVEN TO ME BY DEALER NOR SENT FROM BMW NA . I NEED YOUR HELP TO HAVE BMW NA EXTEND THE RECALL AND PAY FOR FOR THIS LIFE THREATENING MANUFACTURER DEFECT . THIS WAS HIDDEN FROM THE PUBLIC AND SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED IMMEDIATELY . I WAS TOLD BY CRITZ YESTERDAY PRIOR TO MY PLANNED TRIP ACROSS THE US ON 9/4 THAT THE ENGINE COULD DROP AT ANY TIME AS THE BOLTS COULD BE LOOSE BUT THERE IS NO WAY TO TELL WITHOUT SPENDING $1,500 WITH NO END IN SIGHT. THIS CAR IS NOT AN OUT OF TOWN CAR ANYMORE ACCORDING TO DAVID OF CRITZ AND WAS NEVER BUILT TO LAST UNTIL 2020. I NOW HAVE NO ASSURANCE THAT I AM DRIVING SAFELY IN THIS CAR AND HAVE TO ADD SEVERAL DAYS TO MY TRIP.
THE FOTWELL MODULES ON THESE CARS ARE DEFECTIVE..THERE WAS AN EXTENDED WARAANTY COVERING THIS TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE FRM(OR FOOTWELL MODULE)BUT IT DOES NOT INCLUDE THIS CAR..THE CAR'S HEADLIGHTS, BRAKELIGHTS, DOMELITES STAY ON WITH CAR OFF, THUS DRAINIG THE BATTERY. THE CAR THEN LACKS POWER AND CAN SHUT OFF EVEN WHEN DRIVING CAUSING A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. IN THIS MODEL CAR, THESE ARE FMR2 MODULES THAT CAN'T BE REBUILT. BMW 328I HAS A SUPECEEDED PART AND I CALLED THEM AND THEY WONT COVER THE COST OR HONOR THE WARRANTY FOR THIS CAR. THUS I AM SUBMITTING THIS AS I HEARD SEVERAL OTHER BMW ONWNERS WITH SIMILAR MODELS HAVE EXPERIENCED DEFECTIVE FOOTWELL MODULES..I STRONGLY FEEL MY CAR SHOULD BE INCLUDED AS A RECALL OR EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THIS PART. YOU CANNOT REPLACE IT AS BMW PARTS NO LONGER CARRIES IT, THUS HOW TO YOU GET THIS CAR TO RUN WITH THE BATTERY DRAINING WITH LIGHTS ON?? THIS POSES A DANGER IF VEHICLE STALLS WITH BATTERY VOLTAGE DECLINING AS CAR WILL NO LONGER RUN,,EVEN WHEN DRIVING.
I WRITE REQUESTING THAT MY VEHICLE 2008 BMW 335XI VIN NUMBER [XXX] BE TAGGED/LISTED AS NEEDING THE REVISED SIB 13 01 20 -EMISSIONS RECALL CAMPAIGN 10E-A02 ISSUED BY BMW ON 01/17/2020. THIS REVISED 2020 BMW INTERNAL AMENDED RECALL INSTRUCTIONS REQUIRE REPLACEMENT OF ALL ORIGINAL FUEL INJECTORS. IT AMENDS WHAT WAS BEING DONE SINCE THE ORIGINAL RECALL SIB 13 14 20 FROM THE YEAR 2011 WHICH REQUIRED ONLY INDIVIDUAL FAILING INJECTORS BE REPLACED. BACK IN 2011, THE BMW SERVICE CENTER THAT WORKED ON MY CAR, REPLACED TWO (2) FAILING INJECTORS AND REMOVED THE CAR FROM THE RECALL LIST PREMATURELY. THAT WAS WRONG BECAUSE FUEL INJECTORS ARE ?INDIVIDUAL? PIECES OF EQUIPMENT, AND MY CAR NEEDS SIX (6) OF THEM. IN THE YEAR 2013, BMW REPLACED THREE (3) FUEL INJECTORS IN A DIFFERENT BANK UNDER WARRANTY. MAKING IT THAT WAS STILL ONE MORE ORIGINAL INJECTOR LEFT (INJECTOR NUMBER #5) IN THE CAR. THIS REMAINING INJECTOR #5 IN MY CAR IS AN ORIGINAL INJECTOR AND SHOULD STILL BE SUBJECT TO THE RECALL. I CALLED BMW USA ASKING FOR THE UPDATED 01/17/2020 RECALL BE COMPLETED ON MY CAR AND THEY DENIED MY REQUEST STATING THEY HAVE PROPERLY COMPLETED THE ORIGINAL RECALL BACK IN 2011. I HAD THEM REVIEW THE RECORDS WHICH INDICATE THAT BACK IN 2011 DURING THE ORIGINAL RECALL SIB 13 14 20 ONLY FUEL INJECTORS 4 & 6 WERE REPLACED UNDER THE RECALL BECAUSE INJECTORS. INJECTOR NUMBER 5 IS STILL ORIGINAL AND IT IS SUBJECT TO THE 01/17/2020 SIB 13 01 20 -EMISSIONS RECALL CAMPAIGN 10E-A02 ISSUED BY BMW. CURRENTLY, THIS FUEL INJECTOR LEAKS FUEL DOWN INTO THE CYLINDER HEAD AND CREATES POLLUTION. I AM ATTACHING SERVICE RECORDS. I APPRECIATE YOU TAKING THE TIME TO PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS AND HAVE BMW DO THE RIGHT THING BY REPLACING THIS OLD ORIGINAL INJECTOR THEY LEFT BEHIND BACK IN 2011. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR LOOKING INTO THIS. --- [XXX]. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
CAR CAUGHT ON FIRE FOR UNKNOWN REASONS. WHEN THE CAR WAS TURNED ON SMOKE CAME OUT FROM THE AIR CONDITIONING VENTS AND ALL DOORS LOCKED FROM INSIDE. THERE WERE 2 OCCUPANTS INSIDE THAT NEEDED ASSISTANCE TO GET OUT WHILE THE CAR WAS CATCHING FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED.
I WAS TOLD BY MY MECHANIC MY FUEL INJECTORS HAVE GONE BAD AND I BELIEVE THIS IS FROM A MANUFACTURER'S ISSUE. PLEASE INVESTIGATE AS I KNOW VARIOUS PEOPLE THAT HAVE THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE SAME ENGINE, YEAR AND MAKE. I TOOK IT TO THE SHOP AFTER I TURNED IT ON TO DRIVE AND THE VEHICLE WAS SHAKING A BIT MORE THAN NORMAL, WHEN I ACCELERATED THE CAR WAS VERY VAGUELY RESPONDING TO ME. THIS IS WHY MY VEHICLE BEGAN TO MISFIRE, BECAUSE OF THE FUEL INJECTORS. I WILL KEEP ALL RECEIPTS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE OF THIS ISSUE.
ENCOUNTERED DIFFICULTY EXITING THE CAR. MANUFACTURER'S DEALER HAD TO INSTALL "UPDATED DOOR LATCH ON BOTH FRONT" DOORS. AT THE TIME THE VECHICLE WAS STATIONARY IN MY DRIVEWAY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 BMW 335XI. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE STARTER SLOWLY. THE CONTACT STATED NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE INSPECTING UNDER THE HOOD, HE NOTICED A FUEL LEAK INTO THE SPARK PLUGS. THE CONTACT CALLED LOCAL DEALER ORANGE COUNTY BMW LOCATED AT 101 MAHER LN, HARRIMAN, NY 10926, (845) 782-4269 AND WERE MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED AS OF YET. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH MANUFACTURER RECALL 10EA02, HOWEVER THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. WHEN FRONT PASSENGER IS SEATED, LIGHT INDICATES PASSENGER SEAT AIR BAGS ARE TURNED OFF! EVEN WITH ADULTS SEATED. MAINTENANCE STATED LIKELY SEAT SENSOR FAULTY. FRUSTRATED TO SEE THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM FOR THIS VEHICLE THAT WAS REPAIRED FOR ONLY ONE YEAR OF THE 3 YEARS AFFECTED. HOW MANY PEOPLE MUST DIE FIRST? HAPPENS STOPPED AND IN MOTION. *TR
01MAY2020. BROUGHT 2008 BMW 335I TO SOUTH ATLANTA BMW DEALERSHIP TO REPLACE REAR BRAKE PADS (BASED ON INSPECTION REPORT FROM A JAN2020 APPT). IT WAS DETERMINED THAT: 1. OIL FILTER HOUSING GASKET: FILTER HOUSING GASKETS & OIL COOLER O-RINGS LEAKING OIL 2. RADIATOR HOSE REPLACEMENT. UPPER COOLANT HOSE TURNING BROWN AND SEEPING. 01MAY2020. RADIATOR HOSE WAS REPLACED ALONG WITH CONDUCTING BRAKE FLUID FLUSH AND MICRO FILTER. SAME DAY AFTER REPAIRS WERE COMPLETE THE CAR STALLS AND SHUTS OFF AND BECOMES UNABLE TO DRIVE. CAR IS TOWED BACK TO DEALERSHIP FOR FURTHER INSPECTION. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION THE FOLLOWING ARE IDENTIFIED: 1. FUEL PUMP REPLACEMENT: R&R HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP & LOW PRESSURE SENSOR PER FAULT CODE 29F2 2.TURBOCHARGER - VARIABLE BOOST CONTROL SOLENOID: BOTH VANOS SOLENOIDS & OIL CHANGE PER SIB. DEALERSHIP INFORMS ME THAT THE FUEL PUMP'S WARRANTY HAS BEEN EXTENDED 10 YEARS/120000 MILES DUE TO MANUFACTURING ISSUES WITH THE FUEL PUMP. I HAVE NEVER BEEN MADE AWARE OF ISSUES WITH THE FUEL PUMP OR EXTENDED WARRANTIES FOR REPLACING. I DO THINK I SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIRS ON A MALFUNCTIONING FUEL PUMP THAT WAS POORLY MANUFACTURED. BMW SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPLACEMENT AND REPAIR. *TR
My car hasn't start up for 2 years now. 1st it started with a dead starter, then alternator, then the radiator and water pump bursted, and as i was standing outside of my car the passenger air bag deploys while the car was off and key out of the ignition. Luckily no one was in my car but now my car doesn't and wont crank or turnover, it makes a buzzing noise for a split second when i hit the start/stop button and thats all. I'm getting full voltage to it. Every time i run my scanner, i get different codes every time, i bought a 2nd scanner (carly) to compare and both threw out different codes every time but the main ones was the starter and pcv code; which i got 3 different starters put in, all new and the code was still ahowing. Ive spent more time researching and more money buying parts to fix my car then what I bought the car for which was $6k. Worst part is that My car wont even start so i cant take it to the shop and im definitely not paying a toll fee just to have the shop tell me what i already know. Ive looked up forums and multiple people is facing the same issues as i am with their results ending with a "please help if anyone finds out what this issue is". I've replaced the battery 3 times and registered the batteries each time. I have a new starter, alternator, radiator, radiator fan, water pump, thermostat, reservoir, crankshaft and camshaft position sensor, battery, ibs cables, power distribution box, ground straps, oil filter, oil filter housing, spark plugs, coil packs, manifold and gaskets, pcv valves, start/stop switch, relays, fuses, and I still get the same results which is no crank/no start and a buzzing noise. When i spoke with BMW customer support i told them that the closest BMW repair shop is 2 hours away from me and the lady replied "that's going to be a huge chunk of money for towing". I mean seriously, BMW should be paying for or that and fixing their mess but won't own up to it.
MY VEHICLE STARTED SHUTTING DOWN FROM THE RADIATOR WHERE IT CAN ONLY BE STARTED MANUALLY.
WHILE DRIVING AND VEHICLE IN MOTION EVEN DURING ACCELERATION, WITH NO WARNINGS VEHICLE JUST STALLS. ENGINE SHUTS OFF AND LOSS OF POWER STEERING. POWER TO REST OF VEHICLE STILL WORKS FINE AND NOT INTERRUPTED. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON CITY STREETS BUT LUCKILY WAS ABLE TO MUSCLE OFF THE STREET INTO SAFETY AS CAR STILL GLIDED. UNKNOWN TO COMPONENTS CAUSING ISSUE AS CHECK ENGINE LIGHT GOES OFF AFTER BEING ABLE TO RESTART VEHICLE. HAD VEHICLE SCANNED AND NOTHING COMES UP. ALL RECALLS HAVE BEEN PERFORMED ACCORDING TO BMW WEBSITE.
The contact owns a 2008 BMW 328I. The contact stated while driving 45 MPH, there was a burning odor coming through the A/C vents. There was also smoke coming from underneath the hood of the vehicle. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact veered to the side of the road and turned off vehicle. The contact then added coolant to the vehicle. The contact stated upon restarting the vehicle, the check engine warning light remained illuminated. The contact was able to continue driving. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle was losing motive power while driving at various speeds. The contact stated that the failure occurred intermittently. The contact stated that the vehicle was towed to the dealer several times. The dealer performed unknown repairs on the vehicle; however, the failure persisted. The contact later received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V119000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) which she related to the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP WHICH WAS RECALLED AND REPLACED IN 2011 IS PROBLEMATIC AGAIN. WHEN PUSHING THE GAS PEDAL HARDER, THE CAR STUTTERS AND DOES NOT RESPOND TO THE EXTRA POWER REQUESTED BY FLOORING THE GAS PEDAL AND MAKES PUT ME IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION. THE 'SERVICE ENGINE SOON' LIGHT CAME UP AS WELL. I PULLED THE CAR OVER WHEN I COULD, STOPPED AND STARTED THE ENGINE AGAIN AND THE "SERVICE ENGINE" LIGHT DISAPPEARED. THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE BACK IN 2011 AND RECURRING AGAIN. I SUSPECT THIS HAS BEEN THERE FOR A LONG TIME, BUT AS MY WIFE DOES NOT PUNCH THE GAS AS HARD AS ME, SHE NOTICED THIS ONLY ON FEW OCCASIONS. I NOTICED THIS TWICE IN THE LAST MONTH AND SO, CALLED THE STEALERSHIP AND LOGGING A COMPLAINT HERE. IN 2011, THEY SAID BMW EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 10 YEARS AND SO, THIS SHOULD BE COVERED NOW AS WELL, BUT THE STEALERSHIP ABVIOUSLY WOULD NOT ACKNOWLEDGE. HOPE OUR GREAT PRESIDENT TRUMP SHOW GERMANY THEIR PLACE, AND HOPE BMW PAYS FOR THE TERRIBLE ENGINEERING TILL ELON MUSK MAKES THEM GO BANKRUPT.
FUEL INJECTORS ARE DUMPING EXCESS FUEL INTO THE CYLINDERS. ENGINE WILL SURGE CAUSING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON. SURE HAPPENS ON COLD START AND ALSO CAN HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING. *TR
VEHICLE WAS PARKED OVERNIGHT AND A FIRE STARTED UNDER THE DASHBOARD
WHILE CAR WAS PARKED IN A STRIP MALL PARKING LOT AND SHUT OFF, CAR IGNITED IN FLAMES AND IS NOW A TOTAL LOSS
CAR HAS ISSUES WITH COLD START, LONG CRANK, RPM SURGE, CYLINDER MISFIRES. CAR HAS INDEX 5 AND INDEX 8 FUEL INJECTORS. THE CAR IS SHOWING CODES FOR ISSUES WITH THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP. *TR
THE 2008 BMW 3 SERIES WITH SPORT SEATS, HAS THE SAME ISSUE OUTLINED IN RECALL #08V384000, ACTION NUMBER EA08001. THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT AIRBAG SENSOR MAT IS DEFECTIVE, AND AIRBAGS MAY NOT DEPLOY IN AN ACCIDENT. THE 2008 328I WITH SPORT SEATS SHOULD BE ADDED TO THE AFOREMENTIONED RECALL. THIS ISSUE OCCURS WHEN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT IS OCCUPIED, DUE TO CRACKS IN THE MAT.
HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP FAILURE COULD BE THE LOW PRESSURE FUEL PUMP NOT SO SURE GOT CODES P3090 CONFIRMED AND P142E PENDING. THE CAR WAS IN MOTION WHEN DOING A TURN THE VEHICLE STARTED TO BOG OUT AND ROUGHLY IDLE I IMMEDIATELY TURNED TO THE RIGHT AND SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF TRIED TO START IT ABOUT THREE TIMES IN ONE MINUTE INTERVALS CAR WOULD BOG OUT AND SHUT OFF THREW ME THOSE TWO CODES AND A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT.
THE KEY FOBS IN THE 2008 BMWS ARE GLUED AND THE BATTERY SOLDERED INTO PLACE, MAKING IT DIFFICULT FOR OWNERS TO REPLACE THE BATTERIES IN THE KEY FOBS WHEN THE BATTERY DIES. ONCE THE KEY FOB BATTERY DIES, THE VEHICLE IS INOPERABLE. BMW SHOULD OFFER A REPLACEMENT KEY FOB FOR ALL MODEL YEARS WHERE THE BATTERY IS NOT ABLE TO BE CHANGED BY THE OWNER.
I have had continuous issues with the electrical system in the front drivers side headlight with burnt plastic housing to the main headlight and the plug for the blinker system. Sometimes it will work and most of the time it won't. I cant tell you the amount of times it has stopped working in the middle of using the blinker. Every time I attempt to change it out, the bulb ends up still in good shape after looking it over. I have always inserted a new one but the issue remains. I have had to replace the whole headlight unit because of the melted plastic not holding the plug any longer and the issue remains. The passenger side seatbelt light has been on for the past several years and will not go off. It shows a light stating the airbag is off. Every time I use the AC unit, I end up with a whole lot of AC condensation pouring out each side of my console soaking the floor of the vehicle and smelling horrible the next day. I don't understand how such a supposedly high quality car can have such stupid problems that cant seem to be fixed. I have had this car since 2013 and barely drive it as I have only put approx 9000 miles over the last 9 years.
TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 BMW 328I. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 16V071000 (AIR BAGS), 17V683000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING), AND 17V676000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD NOT HAD THE RECALL REPAIRS PERFORMED PRIOR TO THE CONTACT PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ABS AND EMERGENCY BRAKE INDICATORS WERE FLASHING. IN ADDITION, THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR FLASHED AND THEN REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED MORE THAN ONCE. THE CONTACT WAS UNSURE IF THE VEHICLE WOULD RESTART AFTER IT WAS SHUT OFF. KOVACS MOTORS (707-996-4149, LOCATED AT 19190 SONOMA HWY, SONOMA, CA 95476) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
The contact owns a 2008 BMW 328I. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, she noticed an abnormally strong burning odor coming from under the hood. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that an independent mechanic had previously repaired the vehicle for a similar failure. The contact later received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V119000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) that she related to the failure. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT IN MY DASHBOARD IS CONSTANTLY ON. THE CAR THINKS THAT A SMALL CHILD IS SITTING ON THE SEAT AND DISENGAGES THE AIRBAG. SO NOW THE AIRBAG IS IS COMPLETELY DISENGAGED EVEN WHEN SOMEONE IS SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. I'VE TAKEN MY VEHICLE TO BMW DEALERSHIP AND THEY CHECKED MY VIN AND SAID IT'S NOT PART OF THE RECALL AND WANT TO CHARGE ME $2000 FOR THE REPAIR. I BELIEVE MY SEAT SENSOR IS THE SAME ONE THAT IS BEING RECALLED BUT NOT ENOUGH OWNERS WITH THE SAME VEHICLE HAVE FILED A FORMAL COMPLAINT WITH NHTSA. THE TWO RECALLS THAT THE NHTSA HAS RECALLED ARE 17V-428 AND 17V-605. WHY ARE THOSE MODELS THE ONLY ONE BEING RECALLED WHEN THERE'S DEFINITE MALFUNCTION WITH THE OC3 AIRBAG SEAT SENSOR? MY CAR IS THE E93 MODEL WHICH IS THE CONVERTIBLE MODEL, I BELIEVE THAT BECAUSE THIS MODEL WAS PRODUCED LESS THAN THE 4 DOOR SEDAN AND THAT MOST PPL WITH CONVERTIBLES DON'T HAVE A PASSENGER SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. I HAVE A DAUGHTER THAT SITS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT EVERYDAY AND I BELIEVE THAT IS WHY IT MALFUNCTIONED. MY CAR IS A 2008 E93 328I. I BELIEVE THE SAME AIRBAG PASSENGER MAT SEAT SENSOR IS THE SAME ONE BMW HAS RECALLED FOR THEIR 2006 AND 2007 E90 AND E91 MODELS AS WELL AS THE 2006-2010 X3 MODELS THAT ARE BEING RECALLED. PLEASE INCLUDE THE 2008 E93 MODELS AS THESE ARE THE SAME AIRBAG SENSORS THAT NEED TO BE RECALLED.
WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY GOING 80 AND THE CAR JUST SHUT DOWN, WAS UNABLE TO STEER, LEFT ME AND MY 9 YEAR OLD STRANDED FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES UNTILL IT STARTED BACK UP, EVERYDAY EVERYTIME I DRIVE IT NO MATTER WHAT THE SPEED IT SHUTS DOWN AND HAVE TO PRAY THAT I DON'T GET HIT BY A CAR OR AM ABLE TO GLIDE TO SAFETY, VERY UNSAFE NOT KNOWING WHEN THE CAR WILL SHUT DOWN ON ME, TOOK TO MECHANIC THERE WERE NO CODES NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR ANYTHING, THEREFORE COULDN'T BE FIXED, SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT WITH CAR, CAR ONLY STARTED DOING THIS FROM APRIL 2019 TO PRESENT,IT DOESN'T MATTER IF I'M ON HIGHWAY, STREET, STOPPED HAS ALWAYS HAPPENED, LIKE I SAID I DON'T KNOW WHEN IT'S GOING TO HAPPEN.IM GOING TO GET KILLED ONE OF THESE DAYS OR SERIOUSLY INJURED
4/19/2019 DRIVING AT VARYING SPEEDS IN TRAFFIC, PROBABLY BETWEEN 35-45MPH ON HWY 280 NORTHBOUND IN THE FASTEST OF 4 LANES 5PM WITH MY PASSENGER DURING RUSH HOUR THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE POWER STEERING AND ENGINE POWER STOPPED. TRYING TO RESTART, THE ENGINE MADE NOISE BUT NO POWER RETURNED. FORTUNATELY, TRAFFIC HAD SLOWED AND WE WERE ON A DOWN HILL SLOPE AND I MANAGED TO HIT THE WARNING FLASHER BUTTON-AND MOVED THRU 3 LANES OF TRAFFIC TO STOP ON THE SHOULDER. THE WONDERFUL HIGHWAY PATROLMAN WAS BEHIND ME IN MINUTES AND PUSHED THE VEHICLE TO A HWY REST STOP. THE VEHICLE HAD THINGS FLASH UP AND THE WINDOWS AND LOCKS WORKED BUT THERE WAS NO RETURN OF POWER. I HAD NO PRIOR PROBLEMS. FORTUNATELY NOBODY WAS HURT IN 4 PACKED LINES OF HWY 280 TRAFFIC. CAR WAS TOWED TO BMW AUTO SERVICE SHOP.
Two years ago, the driver side door would not open from the inside or outside of the car (pulling on both handles didn't open it) and attempting to unlock it by the dash unlock button didn't work. . The only way to exit the car was to crawl across the front of the car and exit out the passenger side. Was told that the problem was caused by a faulty door actuator. Fast forward to today and the same thing is happening again. I can't open my front drivers side door from the inside or outside which is obviously a major safety issue. Pulling on the handle on either side doesn't open the door and using the dash unlock button doesn't help unlock it either. After doing some research on this, it looks like this is a chronic problem with BMW E90 models (mine is a 2008 328i). With this being a major safety issue and is common with this model of vehicle, is there the possibility of a recall?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2008 BMW 328I. WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE DRIVER DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, BUT IT FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, THE DRIVER CRASHED INTO A TREE. THE AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED ARM INJURIES THAT DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW LOT. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
NO NOTIFICATION OF RECALL.
MY VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING WILL SHUT OFF BUT WITH POWER AT LEAST TWO TIMES. ONCE I RESTART THE CAR AND CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE CAR THEN SHUTS OFF COMPLETELY AND LOSES ALL POWER. THE VEHICLE THEN WILL NOT HAVE ANY HEAD LIGHTS, TURN SIGNALS OR HAZARD LIGHTS WON'T WORK EITHER. TO TRY AND REMEDY THE PROBLEM, THE POWER ADAPTER HAD BEEN REPLACED ONLY FOR THE VEHICLE TO HAVE THE SAME ISSUES.
