WENT TO REPLACE AN OBVIOUSLY BURNED OUT BRAND NEW XENON HID BALLAST. CONFUSED ABOUT WHY IT BURNED UP(FAILURE RATE OF 1 PER 1,000 QUOTED BY THE MANUFACTURER) I TOOK OFF THE BACK COVER FOR THE HOUSING. TO MY SURPRISE, THE POWER CABLE'S THAT PLUGS INTO THE HID BALLAST INSULATION WAS COMPLETELY GONE. BARE. WIRES. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY AN EXTREME FIRE AND SAFETY HAZARD. CURIOUS IF MY OTHER HEADLIGHT WIRING WAS THE SAME WAY, I POPPED THE BACK HOUSING OF IT TO INSPECT FOR ANOTHER HAZARD. LORD AND BEHOLD, IT WAS EXACTLY THE SAME WAY. NOT JUST THE POWER SUPPLY INSULATION ON THE WIRES FOR THE BALLAST WAS CHIPPING, ALL OF IT WAS CHIPPING. THE DRL, ANGEL EYE AND TURN MAKER WIRING INSULATION WAS ALL..GONE. SOMEONE HAD RECENTLY DISCOVERED THIS ISSUE BEFOREHAND AS THERE WAS ELECTRICAL TAPE & SOLDER ON SOME OF THE WIRES KEEPING THEM TOGETHER. ---------------------------- THIS IS A FIRE HAZARD! ----------------------------
AS SOON AS THE VEHICLE IS STARTED A WARNING WILL POP UP FOR 'PASSENGER RESTRAINT SYSTEM MALFUNCTION' CAUSED BY THE SEAT OCCUPANCY SENSOR FAILING ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. THE WARNING WILL STAY ON AND NOT GO AWAY. A PREVIOUS RECALL FOR SIMILAR YEAR MODELS HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED BUT IT DIDN'T COVER ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES DUE TO SIMILAR SENSORS BEING USED ACROSS ALL THESE YEAR MODELS. BMW WANTS TO CHARGE 1000+ DOLLARS FOR THIS SENSOR REPAIR DUE TO THEM SAYING THIS IS AN 'UNAFFECTED VEHICLE'. WITHOUT THIS SENSOR WORKING PROPERLY, IN THE EVENT OF A COLLISION, THE PASSENGER AIRBAG COULD NOT DEPLOY WHICH CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. BMW REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS WITHOUT A RECALL ANNOUNCED, OR WITHOUT THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS BEING SPENT JUST FOR THE SAFETY OF MY PASSENGERS.

DURING RECALL FOR 17V-676 BLOWER MOTOR WIRING,IT WAS DETERMINED BLOWER MOTOR WAS DAMAGED BY BROKEN BLADES. WHILE RECALL CLEARLY STATES ANY ADDITIONAL COMPONENTS DAMAGED WILL BE REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE. BMW DEALER CHARGED ME FOR REPLACEMENT OF SAID ITEM. I AM SEEKING A REIMBURSEMENT OF$ 490.47
I HAD A BLOWER MOTOR REPLACED 2 TO 3 YEARS PRIOR TO RECALL AT A SHOP OTHER THAN BMW .BMW OF NORTH AMERICA SAID I WOULD BE PAID FOR THE PART BUT I NEEDED TO BRING IT TO BMW TO VERIFY A BMW PART WAS USED. I BROUGHT IT TO BMW OF BAYSIDE AND THEY VERIFIED IT WAS A BMW PART. I HAD A COPY OF MY BILL FROM THE REPAIR SHOP WITH THE BMW PART AND LABOR COST. NOW THEY SAY I CAN NOT BE PAID BECAUSE I NEED A RECEIPT FROM AN AUTHORIZED BMW PART CENTER. REPAIR WAS DONE 3 YEARS AGO AND THE SHOP NO LONGER HAS THE RECEIPT. TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2008 BMW 335I. WHILE WALKING TO THE PARKED VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT OPENED THE DOOR AND SAW FLAMES COMING FROM THE FLOORBOARD. THE CONTACT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BLOWER MOTOR CAUGHT ON FIRE AND MELTED THROUGH THE DASHBOARD AND GLOVE BOX. THE DEALER (HANSEL BMW OF SANTA ROSA, 2925 CORBY AVE, SANTA ROSA, CA 95407) STATED THAT THEY HAD TO WAIT TO HEAR FROM THE MANUFACTURER BEFORE THEY COULD MAKE ANY DECISIONS ON HOW TO HANDLE THE FAILURE. THEY ALSO DIRECTED THE CONTACT NOT TO TOUCH ANYTHING IN THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THEY NEVER HEARD OF THE BLOWER MOTOR CATCHING ON FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V670000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 BMW 328I. LESS THAN AN HOUR AFTER THE CONTACT PARKED AND EXITED THE VEHICLE, IT CAUGHT FIRE UNDER THE HOOD. WHEN THE CONTACT RETURNED TO THE VEHICLE, THE KEY FOB FAILED TO UNLOCK THE VEHICLE AND THE KEY HAD TO BE MANUALLY USED TO OPEN THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR. THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE WAS FILLED WITH WHITE SMOKE. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, IT WAS NOTICED THAT AN EXTENSIVE FIRE ERUPTED FROM THE DRIVER'S SIDE NEAR THE ENGINE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FLAMES AND PROVIDED A FIRE INSPECTION REPORT. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. AFTER THE FAILURE, THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT SEND THE RECALL NOTICES CONCERNING NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 17V676000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) AND 17V683000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING); HOWEVER, THE FIRE DEPARTMENT MENTIONED THAT THESE MODELS HAVE RECALLS. THE CONTACT VERIFIED THE RECALL INFORMATION DIRECTLY FROM THE INTERNET. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
MY 2008 BMW 335XI WITH 42000 MILES WAS STORED IN MY HEATED SHOP. THE CAR STARTED ON FIRE AND DESTROYED THE CONTENTS OF MY SHOP AND THE CAR. BMW SENT AN INSPECTOR TO CHECK THE DAMAGE AND TOOK HUNDREDS OF PICTURES. CLEARLY THE FIRE STARTED UNDER THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT AREA AND CONTINUED TO BURN UNTIL THE FRONT OF THE CAR, WINDSHIELD AND INTERIOR WAS DESTROYED. CONTENTS IN MY SHOP WERE DESTROYED AND THE INTERIOR OF THE BUILDING HAD TO BE GUTTED TO THE STUDS. BMW OFFERED NOTHING. DAMAGES TOTALLED MORE THAN $150,000. I RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER FROM BMW 3 WEEKS AFTER THE FIRE. * (RECALL RELATED INCIDENT)
PASSENGER RESTRAINT SYSTEM FAILURE. THE PASSENGER SEAT OCCUPANCY MAT SENSOR IS BAD, AND BMW HAS RECALLED IT FOR MY 2006-2007 CARS, BUT I HAVE AN EARLY 2008 PRODUCTION CAR THAT HAS THE PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A DANGEROUS SAFETY PROBLEM AND AS IT STANDS I DO NOT BELIEVE MY AIRBAGS WILL DEPLOY.
MY CAR JERKED AND STALLED AND GIVE DIFFICULT START. TOOK IT TO MECHANIC SHOP AND IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH CRANK PCV VALVE PROBLEMS
I'VE LOOKED UP MY VIN ON MY BMW 2008 328I IT HAS A RECALL ON THE BLOWER MOTOR WIRING, THEY HAVE A WIRING HARNESS KIT TO FIX THE PROBLEM BUT WHEN I CALL DON JACOBS BMW THEY SAY THERE IS NO RECALL SHOWING FOR MY CAR, I HAVE NO HEAT IN MY CAR THE BLOWER MOTHER DOESN'T WORK, MY CAR IS ONE THAT IS AFFECTED BY THIS RECALL, I JUST WANT MY CAR FIXED
I HAVE THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON THAT CAUSES WARNING SIGN ON THE INFORMATION CENTER. I TOOK THE CAR TO CREVIER BMW IN SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA TO HAVE IT CHECKED. THEY TOLD ME THAT THE PASSENGER SEAT DETECTION MAT SENSOR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS THE PROBLEM THAT'S EXISTED BEFORE IN PREVIOUS YEARS OF THE SAME MODEL, ACCORDING TO NTHSA PUBLICATION ON 2013-12-14. WOULD YOU PLEASE EXTEND THE YEARS OF THE COVERAGE SINCE BASICALLY 2006-2011 IS THE SAME BODY TYPE AND COMPONENTS FOR BMW VEHICLE. THANK YOU SO MUCH.
USE OF THE RIGHT FRONT (RF) PASSENGER SEAT WOULD CAUSE AN AIR BAG AND SEAT BELT MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT. THE LIGHTS WOULD GO OUT AFTER A NUMBER OF IGNITION CYCLES IF THERE WAS NO RF PASSENGER, BUT WOULD REAPPEAR AFTER A PASSENGER USED THE SEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A BMW DEALER ON 10/12/18 AND THEY FOUND THAT THE "OC3 MAT" WAS FAULTY AND THEY RECOMMENDED THAT IT BE REPLACED AND PROGRAMMED. THIS IS A SIMILAR ISSUE TO TWO OTHER BMW RECALLS (17V-428 AND 13V-564) RELATED TO THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG SEAT OCCUPANCY SENSOR MAT. THIS VEHICLE IS A 2008 BMW E90 3-SERIES WITH SPORT SEATS BUT IS NOT INCLUDED IN EITHER RECALL.
HAD THE CAR CHECKED OUT FOR OVER HEATING PROBLEMS, EVERYTHING CHECKED OUT FINE BUT MY CAR IS RUNNING SUPER HOT AND IT HAS STARTED TO MELT SOME CABLES.
PASSENGER SIDE FRONT SEAT CAUGHT FIRE.
THE WIRES ON THE INSIDE OF MY HEADLIGHTS ARE CRACKED, AND HAVE A LOT OF BARE COPPER SHOWING. THE PLASTIC SHEATHING (CABLE JACKET) HAS BECOME BRITTLE FROM THE HEAT, AND IS FALLING APART, EXPOSING THE CONDUCTOR. THIS IS CREATING THE RISK OF AN ELECTRICAL FIRE OR DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. THE RIGHT HEADLIGHT AND THE ANGEL LIGHTS OF MY CAR IS NOT WORKING IT WHEN OFF WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION - ALL IT TAKES IS TO TOUCH A CABLE WITH YOUR FINGERS AND THE COOPER WILL BE EXPOSE. I'M REQUESTING IMMEDIATE RECALL FROM BMW - SEVERAL CARS ARE HAVING THE SAME ELECTRICAL AND FIRE HAZARD ISSUES. PLEASE FIX THIS PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEBODY GET'S HURT.

THE DEALER DID NOT MENTION IF THE PARTS WERE AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE DEALER (BMW OF FORT MYERS, 15421 S TAMIAMI TRAIL, FORT MYERS, FL 33908, (844) 283-1830) DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER OCCUPANT DETECTION MAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE PASSENGER SEAT DETECTION MEANT TO DISABLE THE AIR BAG FOR A CHILD DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY. THE "AIR BAG OFF" LIGHT DOES NOT ILLUMINATE WHILE MY 55 LB CHILD SITS IN THE SEAT. INFREQUENTLY, THE LIGHT WILL ILLUMINATE BRIEFLY WHILE SHE IS IN THE SEAT, AND THEN GO DARK AGAIN. ATTEMPTING TO TEST THE SEAT SENSORS, I USED A SACK OF 20 LB POTATOES PLACED BOTH DIRECTLY ON THE PASSENGER SEAT, AND IN A CAR SEAT. IN BOTH CASES, THE SEAT WOULD INCONSISTENTLY DETECT THE "CHILD" AND ILLUMINATE THE "AIR BAG OFF" LIGHT, AND SOMETIMES WOULD NOT. SOMETIMES IT WOULD DETECT THE "CHILD" INITIALLY AFTER ENGINE START UP AND SUBSEQUENTLY THE LIGHT WOULD GO DIM.OTHER TIMES THE LIGHT WOULD CYCLE ON AND OFF AT ENGINE START UP (NORMAL BULB CHECK) AND REMAIN OFF AT ENGINE START UP -- I.E., NOT DETECTED -- BUT IF THE SACK OF POTATOES WAS LIFTED OFF THE SEAT AND PLACED BACK DOWN, OR IF PRESSURE WAS MANUALLY APPLIED NEXT TO THE POTATOES ON THE CAR SEAT, THE "AIR BAG OFF" LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE AND DETECTION WOULD TRIGGER. THESE RESULTS WERE CONFIRMED BOTH SITTING IN DRIVEWAY IN NEUTRAL, AND OPERATING AT LOW SPEED.
I OWN A 2008 335I TWIN TURBO BMW 3 SERIES, WHILE DRIVING I STARTED SMELLING A FRESH GAS SMELL IN THE BACK OF MY CAR INSIDE AND OUTSIDE, REALLY STRONG SMELL SO MUCH I HAVE TO KEEP MY WINDOWS DOWN AND IT GIVES ME A HEADACHE AND I FEEL LIKE MY CAR IS GOING TO CATCH ON FIRE WITH ANY GIVEN SPARK AND IT COULD, THE CERTIFIED MECHANIC SAID MY FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY IS FAULTY SO I WENT ONLINE AND THERE IS A RECALL ON THE 2008 335I TWIN TURBO BUT FOR SOME REASON WHEN I CALLED BMW THEY SAID MY CAR IS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST SO THEY WONT FIX IT! MY CAR HAS THE PROBLEM, MY CAR HAS APX 80,000 , EIGHTY THOUSAND MILES ONI IT. WHY IS MY CAR NOT COVERED WHEN IT HAS THE PROBLEM OF ALL THE OTHER CARS? THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION I HAVE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECTS FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 17V683000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) AND VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V676000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM).
IT HAS A ELECTRICAL POWER DISTRIBUTION BATTERY CABLE . IT SHUTS OFF COMPLETELY
AFTER ALMOST A YEAR, BMW IS STILL NOT READY TO 'REMEDY' AND PROVIDE A FIX FOR SAFETY RECALL 17V-676 (BLOWER MOTOR WIRING).
TAKATA RECALL- MY WIFE WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK WHICH IS 1 1/2 MILES FROM OUR HOME WHEN HER 2008 BMW 328I CAUGHT FIRE AND BURNED, SHE SAID A PUFF OF SMOKE CARE OUT OF THE AC VENT THEN IT QUIT BLOWING THEN HOT SLAG WAS DRIPPING OUT FROM UNDER PASSENGER DASH THE CAR IS A TOTAL LOSS
PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE, SMELLED ELECTRICAL BURNING. STOPPED & GETTING OUT THE CAR, SAW FLAMES COMING FROM INSIDE THE CAR UNDER THE GLOVE BOX. HAD A FIRE EXTINGUISHER NEAR BY SO WE WE'RE ABLE TO KEEP THE FLAMES FROM BURNING THE ENTIRE CAR AND THE CARS NEXT TO US. INSURANCE COMPANY SAYS ITS THE RESULT OF 10/25/17 BLOWER MOTOR WIRING RECALL.
VEHICLE STOP BLOWING AIR THROUGH THE VENTS HEATER AND AC DON'T WORK VEHICLE WAS PARKED.
MANUFACTURER HAS NOT REMEDY THE SAFETY RECALLS IN A TIMELY MANNER AS IT'S BEEN ALMOST A YEAR SINCE THE RECALLS AND THERE ARE STILL NO PARTS/FIXES AVAILABLE. THERE ARE 2 RECALLS FROM OCT 2017 AND AS OF TODAY AUG 2018 THERE ARE NO PARTS AVAILABLE TO FIX THE ISSUES: POSITIVE CRANKCASE VENTILATION (PCV) VALVE HEATER AND BLOWER MOTOR WIRING. SAFETY RISKS: OVER TIME, IT COULD DETERIORATE AND, IN RARE CASES, COULD LEAD TO OVERHEATING. AND CONNECTION BETWEEN THE WIRING AND THIS SYSTEM COULD DETERIORATE AND, IN RARE CASES, COULD LEAD TO OVERHEATING.

THE FIRE INSPECTOR ARRIVED AND WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED EXTENSIVELY AND TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS NOTIFIED OF THE RECALL BY THE MANUFACTURER AFTER THE FIRE OCCURRED. ON 11/12, MY 2008 BMW 328XI CAUGHT FIRE IN A PARKING LOT. TWO PRIVATE APPRAISERS DEEMED THIS A MANUFACTURER ERROR BASED ON A FAULTY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM.

AS WE WERE PULLING ON TO OUR STREET, SMOKE APPEARED FROM THE DASH. SMELLED LIKE AN ELECTRICAL FIRE. THE AC MADE SOME WEIRD NOISE AS WELL. WE PROMPTLY STOPPED THE CAR IN OUR DRIVEWAY (ABOUT 100FEET FROM WHEN IT STARTED), STOPPED ENGINE, TOOK OUT KEY. WINDSHIELD WIPERS STARTED GOING BACK AND FORTH. WINDOWS STARTED GOING UP AND DOWN BY THEMSELVES. WITHIN MINUTES THE ENTIRE CABIN FILLED WITH DARK BLACK/GREY SMOKE. THE CAR THEN SET ABLAZE. 2 LOUD POPS WERE HEARD. THE ENTIRE CABIN CHARRED. THE BACK OF THE ENGINE WAS ALL ABLAZE. FIRE DEPT USED JAWS OF LIFE TO EXTINGUISH CAR. TOTALED. WE DO HAVE VIDEOS OF THE SMOKE STARTING AND ARE AVAILABLE - THEY ARE ON MY WIFE'S PHONE, AS WELL AS LOTS OF PICTURES.

THE LINES THAT ARE INSIDE THE FUEL PUMP CAME OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND THE CAR STOPPED WORKING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. MY MECHANICS HAD THE EXACT SAME MODEL CAR HAVE THE SAME EXACT ISSUE AND WHEN THEY CALLED BMW FOR THE PARTS THE SERVICE GUY KNEW EXACTLY WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. THEY SEE IT ALL THE TIME IN THIS PARTICULAR MODEL AND BMW STATES THAT SINCE YOU DON'T HAVE ANY RECALL ON IT THAT THEY WILL NOT FIX MY CAR WITHOUT ME PAYING FOR IT. THIS HAS NOW HAPPENED TWO TIMES TO ME AND IT IS A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD TO HAVE THE CAR JUST STOP WHILE DRIVING. CAN YOU PLEASE SEE IF YOU HAVE ANY OTHER COMPLAINTS THAT ARE SIMILAR TO MINE? ACCORDING TO MY MECHANIC THE BMW SERVICE CENTER HAS THE PARTS ON HAND BECAUSE THEY SEE THIS PROBLEM SO OFTEN IN THIS PARTICULAR MODEL. APPARENTLY IT IS BECAUSE THE FUEL INJECTION LINES ARE INSIDE THE TANK AND IT IS A BAD DESIGN AND I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IT IS A LOW FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM THAT WAS DESIGNED BADLY AND THEY NO LONGER DESIGN IT THIS WAY.
I'VE BEEN TRYING TO GET THIS TAKEN CARE OF FOR A WHILE NOW, AND THE MANUFACTURER IS SAYING THAT THE REMEDY ISN'T AVAILABLE. I FEEL UNSAFE, ESPECIALLY NOW DURING THE SUMMERTIME WHEN I'M USING MY HEATING AND AC. I EXPERIENCED BETTER CUSTOMER SERIVIE BACK WHEN I HAD A CHEVY.

RECEIVED 2 RECALL NOTICES FROM BMW USA 11/17 AND 11/17 FOR ISSUES WITH THE BLOWER MOTOR WIRING AND THE ENGINE PCV VALVE HEATER. CONTACTED MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM FIXED. WAS ADVISED THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE AUTHORIZATION FROM THE NATIONAL OFFICE TO PERFORM THE REPAIRS. WHEN QUESTIONED ABOUT HAVING THE PARTS THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE ADMITTED THAT THEY COULD GET THE PARTS BUT WOULD NOT BE REIMBURSED FOR THE REPAIR BECAUSE THE NATIONAL OFFICE HAD NOT AUTHORIZED THEIR USE. REPEATEDLY CHECK WITH THEM OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL MONTHS. RECEIVED THE SAME ANSWER AGAIN AND AGAIN. CONTACTED BMW USA DIRECTLY THROUGH THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND SPOKE WITH THEIR REPRESENTATIVE WHO STATED THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PARTS TO REPAIR THE KNOWN SAFETY ISSUES AND WERE HOPING TO HAVE THEM FIXED LATER THIS YEAR. WHEN I INFORMED THEM THAT THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP SAID THEY COULD GET THE PARTS THEY FINALLY ADMITTED THAT YES THEY HAD THEM BUT NOT ENOUGH TO COVER ALL THE RECALLED VEHICLES SO THEY WERE NOT AUTHORIZING REPAIRS YET.
I WAS DRIVING AND ALL OF A SUDDEN I COULD NOT STEER, AND THE POWER WAS GONE; IT WAS BARELY MOVING; AND THE LIGHT CAME ON SAYING TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE WITH DIMINISHED SPEED. I WAS CLOSE TO HOME ON AN ACCESS ROAD; AND WAS ABLE TO LIMP HOME. IT WAS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. I TOOK IT TO GLOBAL BMW IN METRO ATLANTA; AND PAID CLOSE TO $3000 FOR REPAIRS. APPROXIMATELY A MONTH LATER I HAD A PROBLEM AGAIN. THE LIGHT CAME ON AND STATED ENGINE MALFUNCTION; REDUCED POWER, PROCEED WITH CAUTION. IN DOING RESEARCH THIS MORNING; I DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM. I DID NOT KNOW IT; BUT GLOBAL BMW HAD TO KNOW IT. I CALLED BMW RECALL AND THEY CLAIM THAT THEY ARE WAITING ON THE PARTS. THIS RECALL HAS BEEN IN EFFECT SINCE 2010; SO THEY MUST HAVE THE PARTS. MOST OF THE LAWSUITS WERE SETTLED OUT OF COURT WITH A GAG ORDER; SO IT APPEARS THAT BMW DON'T RESPOND UNLESS THERE IS A FORMAL COMPLAINT; AND THIS IS THE REASON FOR THIS COMPLAINT WITH YOUR OFFICE. I WILL APPRECIATE ANY ASSISTANCE THAT YOU MAY PROVIDE.
