TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 BMW 328XI. WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT AND OCCURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
TAKATA RECALL I WAS INVOLVED IN A MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT ON 10/1/2016. I HAD A FRIEND DRIVE MY CAR WHILE I RODE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. MY FRIEND ENDED UP DRIVING INTO THE BACK OF ANOTHER VEHICLE AT A STOP LIGHT. WE WERE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH. UNFORTUNATELY, MY FOREARM AND WRIST BROKE AFTER THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED AND HIT ME. I REMEMBER CHEWING METAL DEBRIS. I REMEMBER THE PAIN THAT RADIATED FROM MY WRIST TO MY ELBOW BECAUSE OF THE AIRBAGS IMPACT. I UNDERWENT SURGERY 2 WEEKS LATER (I HAD TO WAIT FOR THE SWELLING TO SUBSIDE) I HAD 2 PLATES, 18 PINS, AND 11 SCREWS INSERTED. MY WRIST WILL NEVER BE THE SAME AGAIN. I FEEL AS THOUGH THE AIRBAGS DID MORE DAMAGE THAN GOOD. ATTACHED IS THE POLICE REPORT, PICTURES, AND A COPY OF MY SURGEON'S INSTRUCTIONS AFTER SURGERY.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
TAKADA RECALL. NEW OWNER OF USED 328I, I DO NOT SEE ANY PROOF THAT AIR BAG RECALL WAS PERFORMED ON THE USED CAR I BOUGHT. NO LETTER RECEIVED
"SEAT-BELT LIGHT/TAKATA RECALL, IT SEEMS THAT MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT LISTED AMONG THE VEHICLES RECALLED BUT MY AIRBAG LIGHTS HAVE BEEN COMING ON AND OFF AS WELL AS SEATBELT LIGHTS AND I BELIEVE THAT THE TWO SYSTEMS ARE LINKED AND SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED FOR SECURITY REASONS, THE LIGHTS CAME ON AS THE VEHICLE WAS IN SLOW MOTION AS I WAS ATTEMPTING TO PARK. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THE PARTS REPLACED, ESPECIALLY IF THE AIRBAGS ARE MANUFACTURED BY TAKATA OR ANOTHER MANUFACTURER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2008 BMW 328XI. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN FRONT OF THE CONTACT'S HOUSE, IT CAUGHT FIRE. THE ORIGIN OF THE FIRE WAS BEHIND THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT, WHICH CAUSED THE AIR BAG TO DEPLOY. A FIRE REPORT WAS FILED AND THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS DECLARED DESTROYED BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND THE INSURANCE ADJUSTER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 126,000.

NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE WAS AWAITING A PHONE CALL FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 165,000.
HEAD LIGHT WIRING SHEATHING IS DETERIORATING , IT IS FLAKING OFF CAUSING WIRES TO TOUCH, IT HAS CAUSED AN ELECTRICAL SHORT AND FRIED MY LIGHTING BALLAST AND BLOWN HEADLIGHT BULB.
VALVE COVER GASKET LEAKS OIL ON EXHAUST MANIFOLD CREATING BURNING SMELL INSIDE THE PASSENGER CABIN. THIS CREATES A FIRE HAZARD WITH OIL ON HOT EXHAUST MANIFOLD. WHEN STARTING CAR IN THE MORNING IS WHEN THE SMELL IS THE STRONGEST AND LAST THROUGHOUT THE DRIVE. THIS IS A DANGEROUS PROBLEM AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. PARKING VEHICLE IN GARAGE CAN BURN HOUSE DOWN IF OIL CAUSES FIRE!
I HAVE A 2008 BMW 335I, AND RECENTLY I NOTICED SOMETHING THAT IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE, AND IS A MAJOR FIRE HAZARD AS WELL. INSIDE OF THE SEALED HEADLIGHT HOUSING, IS A WIRE HARNESS THAT'S USED TO POWER THE HEADLIGHTS. THAT HARNESS HAS SEVERAL WIRES COMING OUT OF IT, AND EACH ONE OF THOSE WIRES HAS A PROTECTIVE COLORED INSULATED COATING THAT DISTINGUISHES THE WIRES FROM ONE ANOTHER, SUCH AS POWER, GROUND, ETC. WELL, EVERY SINGLE WIRE THAT COMES OUT OF THAT HARNESS IS CRACKED AND MISSING SECTIONS OF INSULATION ALL TOGETHER, WHICH EXPOSES THE COPPER WIRES UNDERNEATH. THIS IS A HUGE FIRE SAFETY ISSUE, AND UPON RESEARCHING IT I NOTICED DOZENS OF PEOPLE EXPERIENCING THIS SAME EXACT ISSUE. I HAVE GONE THROUGH TWO SETS OF HEADLIGHTS AND NOW IT IS VERY APPARENT AS TO WHY THIS IS HAPPENING. THE WIRES INSIDE THERE ARE TOUCHING AND KEEP SHORTING OUT MY HEADLIGHTS. I'VE ATTACHED A PICTURE SHOWING THAT I'VE EVEN HAD TO STICK A PIECE OF ELECTRICAL TAPE IN THERE AS AN EFFORT TO TRY AND AVOID A CATASTROPHIC EVENT. HOPEFULLY THIS IS TAKEN A BIT MORE SERIOUSLY BY BMW AND THEY ARE MOTIVATED TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE BEFORE ANYTHING TRAGIC OCCURS.

TAKATA RECALL BMW HAS YET TO REMEDY THE DEFECT WITHIN A REASONABLE PERIOD OF TIME. I RECEIVED THE RECALL LETTER IN MARCH 2016 AND HAVE NOT HEARD FROM THEM SINCE ON THE STATUS OF THE RECALL. I I ALSO HAVE CONTACTED THE LOCAL BMW DEALERSHIP AND HAVE NOT HEARD BACK FROM THEM REGARDING MY CONCERN FOR THE RECALL. I DO NOT HAVE ANOTHER VEHICLE TO DRIVE AND AM INCREASING THE RISK ON MY LIFE EVERY TIME I AM ON THE ROAD.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED, BUT DID NOT OFFER ASSISTANCE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
MOTOR MOUNT BOLTS SHEARING OFF. COMMON PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED WITH A SAFETY RECALL.
MY CAR ABRUPTLY LOSSES ALL POWER. IT'S LOST POWER ON THE FREEWAY (3 TIMES), AT STOP LIGHTS (TOO MANY TO COUNT) AND AFTER THE CAR SITS; EITHER AT WORK, OVER NIGHT OR EVEN IF I'M OUT RUNNING ERRANDS. IN OTHER WORDS, THE POWER FAILURE CANNOT BE DUPLICATED, IT HAPPENS RANDOMLY (MY CAR IS UNABLE TO START AS I TYPE THIS!!). NEEDLESS TO SAY MY LIFE AS WELL AS MY FAMILIES SAFETY HAVE BEEN PUT TO THE TEST SEVERAL TIMES. ON 2 SEPARATE OCCASIONS, I WAS NEARLY REAR-ENDED ON THE FREEWAY WHEN MY CAR LOST POWER AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I COULDN'T MOVE OVER TO THE SHOULDER AND ENDED UP STALLING IN THE SLOW LANE. AFTER SPENDING A SMALL FORTUNE TRYING TO FIX THIS DILEMMA A FRIEND SENT ME THIS LETTER THAT THE NHTSA SENT TO BMW IN 2013 REGRADING A POWER FAILURE THAT MANY CARS WERE EXPERIENCING AT THE TIME. LOST POWER SEVERAL TIMES WHILE TRAVELING ON THE FREEWAY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND HAS ALMOST CAUSED A CRASH ON 2 SEPARATE OCCASIONS (NEAR REAR END COLLISION) 2). LOST POWER AT STOP LIGHTS AND SEVERAL TIMES AS I STARTED TO ACCELERATE 3). CONSISTENT FAILURE TO START THE CAR (NO POWER) OR IT TRIES TO START AND IMMEDIATELY TURNS OFF AFTER A BRIEF SECOND IN ADDITION TO THE IMMINENT DANGER TO MY FAMILY AND OTHERS, THIS HAS COST ME THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS THE INCLUDED LINK BELOW SHOWS A DOCUMENT WHICH WAS SENT BY THE NHTSA TO BMW NA IN 2013. I WAS HAPPY TO REALIZE THAT BMW ACKNOWLEDGED THE PROBLEM FOR THE E92 3 SERIES (MY CAR SHARES THE EXACT SAME PART NUMBER FOR THE MENTIONED FAULTY PART), BUT I WAS EQUALLY SHOCKED TO FIND OUT THAT MY SPECIFIC VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL WHICH IS WHAT MY CAR IS EXPERIENCING.
DEAR SIR/MA'AM, I AM WRITING THIS AFTER AN AWFUL INCIDENT THAT I WENT THROUGH TODAY, I AM SO LUCKY TO BE ALIVE WITH MY FAMILY.I WAS DRIVING MY 2008 BMW 323I WHICH HAS 190,000 KM ON IT ON A HIGHWAY WHEN IT SUDDENLY STARTED VIBRATING AND WENT ONTO ALMOST HITTING ANOTHER TRAILER TRUCK IN FRONT OF US. I MANAGED TO PULL OVER AND TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FIVE MINUTES OFF THE EXIT. I LIVE IN TORONTO CANADA, THE DEALERSHIP HAS SEEN IT AND THEY SAID I HAVE TWO BROKEN HEADS OF THE BOLTS THAT HOLDS THE MOTOR ENGINE IN PLACE AND I WOULD HAVE LOST MY LIFE IF I DIDN'T COME TO A COMPLETE STOP.I HAVE BEEN DRIVING THIS CAR SINCE 2007 AND I HAVE ALWAYS LIKED BMW BUT NEVER AFTER THINGS LIKE THIS I WOULD RECOMMEND OR BUY ANYTHING FROM BMW.THERE WAS A RECALL BUT SOMEHOW THE DEALERSHIP WANTS $4000 FROM ME TO FIX IT. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED AND ALSO I AM FORWARDING A COPY OF THIS EMAIL TO NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION. PLEASE GIVE ME A GOOD ANSWER AND MAKE SURE THIS IS FIXED ASAP.
6 WEEKS AGO MY CAR LOST ALL POWER. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A MECHANIC THAT HAS WORKED ON AND REPAIRED MY CAR BEFORE. THEY REPLACED THE FUSE BOX AND ALL FUSES ($678.00) WHICH DIDNT FIX THE CAR. BECAUSE THEY WERE AT AN IMPASSE WITH THE REPAIRS I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO BMW MERCEDES SPECIALIST ($110.00). MY CAR HAS BEEN AT THE SECOND SHOP FOR A MONTH....IT STILL WILL NOT START. SO, THIS WEEKEND I GOT ONLINE AND DID SOME DIGGING ABOUT THE 2008 BMW 328I REPAIR HISTORY. AS IT TURNS OUT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE BATTERY CABLE IN MARCH ON 2013. I BOUGHT THE CAR IS JAN. 2013. DID NOT RECEIVE OR WAS I MADE AWARE OF THE RECALL. SO NOW I AM OUT $1000.00 NOT TO MENTION WHAT I OWE THE SECOND REPAIRS SHOP. AND BMW USA INFORMS ME THAT I NOW HAVE TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED AT MY EXPENSE TO A BMW DEALERSHIP...AND HAVE THE CABLE REPAIRED THERE TO HAVE THE REPAIR COVERED BY BMW. FIRST OF ALL BMW IS LIABLE TO HAVE INFORMED ME OF THE RECALL...WHICH THEY DID NOT. SO, ITS MY UNDERSTANDING BY LAW I HAVE TO BE COMPLETELY REMEDIED MONETARILY BY BMW FOR ALL AND ANY COSTS RELATED TO THE RECALL. BMW IS TRYING TO STRONG ARM ME INTO BRINGING MY CAR TO THEM. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 BMW 328XI. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND NOTICED A STRONG ODOR OF FUEL. FUEL WAS ALSO LEAKING FROM AN UNKNOWN PART OF THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED WHENEVER THE FUEL LEVEL WAS BEYOND HALF A TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 129,200.
MY FAMILY AND I LEFT FOR VACATION IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT AND WERE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE FROM FLORIDA TO VIRGINIA. THERE WERE NO OTHER CARS AROUND SINCE IT WAS SO LATE. WE WERE DRIVING AT ROUGHLY 78 MPH. WE HAD THE SUNROOF ANGLED OPEN. SUDDENLY, WE HEARD AN EXPLOSION, WHICH SOUNDED LIKE A GUNSHOT, AND WE WERE ALL COVERED IN BITS OF GLASS. THE SOUND WAS SO SUDDEN AND LOUD THAT I NEARLY RAN OFF THE ROAD. WE REALIZED THE SOURCE OF THE FALLING GLASS WAS FROM OUR SUNROOF, WHICH NOW LOOKED LIKE A DOME. SOMETHING CAUSED IT TO WARP IN AN OUTWARD POSITION. TINY PIECES OF GLASS WERE FALLING ON US LIKE SNOW. WE PULLED OFF AT A TRUCK STOP AND VACUUMED OUT THE GLASS INSIDE THE CAR. THEN, AS WE SHUT THE CAR DOOR, THE LEFT SIDE OF THE SUNROOF COLLAPSED, CREATING A GAPING HOLE. WE THEN BOUGHT DUCT TAPE TO SEAL THE ENTIRE STRUCTURE SO THAT WE COULD MAKE THE REST OF OUR 13 HOUR DRIVE TO OUR DESTINATION. WHEN WE ARRIVED, MY HUSBAND FOUND A FORD DEALERSHIP WHO GAVE US A HUGE SHEET OF WINDOW TAPE TO HELP SEAL IT OFF BETTER. WE THEN CALLED THE BMW MANUFACTURER IN GREER, S.C. TO FILE A COMPLAINT.. THEY ADVISED ME TO TAKE THE CAR TO OUR LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND HAVE THEM DOCUMENT THE PROBLEM. I WAS THERE TODAY, 7/8/2016, AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD COST $400 TO REMOVE THE HEADLINER AND COMPLETE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. I PROMPTLY WALKED OUT. I'VE READ OF HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS EXACT SITUATION HAPPENING TO OTHER PEOPLE. WHY IS THIS TYPE OF GLASS NOT UNDER A RECALL NOTICE? I'M SCARED TO DEATH FOR MY 16 YEAR OLD TO DRIVE THIS CAR WITH THE ROOF ANGLED UPWARD. NO ONE, FROM WHAT I'VE READ, CAN SEEM TO FIND ANY REASON FOR THE GLASS TO COMPLETELY CHANGE SHAPE AND EXPLODE. IF GLASS CAN'T HOLD UP TO HIGHWAY SPEEDS, WHY IS IT BEING USED?! THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
MY FAMILY TOOK HE CAR TO THE GROCERY STORE AND WHEN THEY ATTEMPTED TO EXIT THE CAR, THE DRIVERS DOOR WOULDN'T OPEN. I EVENTUALLY DISCOVERED THAT FUSE #73 FAILED CAUSING THE DOORS TO LOCK THE PASSENGERS INSIDE THE CAR. INITIALLY IT WAS JUST THE DRIVERS DOOR, BUT AS I WAS PRESSING THE DOOR LOCK BUTTONS ON THE KEY AND THE CENTRAL LOCKING BUTTON ALL DOOR WERE EVENTUALLY AFFECTED. I SEE THIS AS A SAFETY HAZARD SINCE PASSENGERS COULD BE TRAPPED IN THE VEHICLE IN AN EMERGENCY.
I HAD A FUNNY CABLE OR PLASTIC SMELL INSIDE THE CAR . COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT IT WAS. WHILE DRIVING THE SMELL WENT WORST . I STOPPED TO GET A FLASHLIGHT FROM MY TRUNK TO SEE IF SOMETHING IN MY ENGINE WAS BURNING. WHEN I OPENED THE TRUNK I SEEN THAT THE BATTERY WAS BURNING THE PLASTIC OVER THE CONNECTORS. I HAVE CALLED LAST YEAR WHEN I PURCHEASED THIS CAR YO CHECK ON ANY RECALS. I WAS TOLD THERE WASN'T ANY RECALS . BY BMW VISTA EMPLOYEES .
VEHICLE DOWNSHIFTS TO A COMPLETE OR NEAR COMPLETE STOP ON TURNS OR WHEN COMING TO A STOP. THE ISSUE IS DANGEROUS WHEN TURNING AS THE TRANSMISSION STOPS MID TURN WHICH CAN CAUSE SOMEONE TO REAR END YOU. IT THEN KICKS INTO GEAR SUDDENLY. I HAVE HAD IT CHECKED OUT AT BMW DEALER SERVICE AND ANOTHER BMW RE-SELLER SHOP AND BOTH HAVE ADVISED IT IS FINE BUT IT IS NOT.

CURRENTLY I HAVE THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP IN MY 335I (2008). I HAVE MY "SERVICE ENGINE SOON ENGINE MALFUNCTION. REDUCED POWER" LIGHT ON - IT JUST CAME ON YESTERDAY. ORIGINAL WARRANTY WAS 4 YEARS 40,000 MILES. WHICH ACCORDING TO BMW WAS EXTENDED 10 YEARS 120,000. SO I AM OUT OF WARRANTY BECAUSE I ALREADY HAVE 130K, MY CAR WAS BROUGHT TO BMW SEVERAL OCCASION, IT WAS NEVER BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION THAT THERE MAY A POTENTIAL PROBLEMS WITH THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP.

CAR RANDOMLY LOST POWER AND WENT INTO LIMP MODE. HEAVY STUTTERING WITH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. OCCURRED WHILE MERGING ON THE HIGHWAY AND RESULTED IN NEAR COLLISION. CAR HAD 75K MILES AT THE TIME, NOW HAS 76K. CAR DRIVES FINE, BUT WHEN PRESSING ACCELERATOR PASSED 50% CAR BEGINS TO STUTTER AND GO INTO LIMP MODE. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR ISSUES UNTIL THIS HAPPENS. CHECK ENGINE CODES READ, MULTIPLE CYLINDER MISFIRE. ALL SYMPTOMS POINT TO HPFP.
I HAVE CONTACTED UNITED BMW OF ROSWELL SEVERAL TIMES OVER A YEAR NOW. I JUST CALLED AGAIN 10/24/2017 AND THEY KEEP TELLING ME THE SAME THING. THE AIRBAGS FOR MY MODEL THEY DO NOT HAVE YET BUT I AM ON THEIR LIST TO CALL WHEN THEY COME IN. I'VE BERN ON THAT LIST SINCE APRIL 2016.
AFTER RECEIVING THE AIRBAG RECALL LETTER FROM BMW, I DECIDED TO CALL THE NEAR BY DEALERSHIP TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT. I WAS TOLD I WILL BE CONTACT BY BMW ONCE THE PARTS ARE AVAILABLE FOR THE REPAIR. I ASKED FOR A TIMELINE WHEN SHOULD I EXPECT A NOTIFICATION/EMAIL ETC FROM BMW. HE SAID MOSTLY LIKELY BY THE END OF 2017 BECAUSE THERE SHORTAGE ON THE PARTS AND CONTINUE GO SAY OPERATE THE VEHICLE AS USUAL. HE ALSO INDICATED THAT THERE HASN'T BE A SERIOUS INCIDENT WITH BMW VEHICLES INVOLVING THE AIRBAG. IT IS UNACCEPTABLE TO HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL 2017 IF NOT LATER FOR HAVE THE DEADLY DEFECTIVE PART REPLACED. I AM BASICALLY TIME BOMB MACHINE UNTIL ONE OR TWO THINGS 1. FIXED BY 2017 OR 2. TAKATA INFLATORS ARE DEFECTIVE. I RECEIVED A LETTER SEVEN MONTHS AGO FROM BMW IN MARCH 2016 INFORMING ME OF A RECALL. I HAVE RECEIVED NO FURTHER NOTICE AS TO WIN THESE REPAIRS WILL BE TAKEN CARE OF. BMW SHOULD HAVE TO COMPENSATE OWNERS FOR THEIR FLAWED AND DANGEROUS DESIGN. AS THIS CAR IS MY ONLY TRANSPORTATION I HAVE NO CHOICE THAN TO DRIVE A VEHICLE WITH SAFETY FEATURES THAT COULD ACTUALLY INCREASE MY RISK OF SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH.
