TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 BMW 328I. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V071000 (AIR BAGS). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SOUTH MOTORS BMW (LOCATED AT 16215 S. DIXIE HWY, MIAMI, FL 33157, TEL: (305) 256-2200) FOR THE RECALL REPAIR; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WAS NOTIFIED THAT THE REPAIR WOULD TAKE MORE THAN ONE HOUR TO BE COMPLETED. THE SERVICE MANAGER INFORMED HER THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE AND TO WAIT THREE WEEKS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. ACCORDING TO FIRE FIGHTERS THE CAR'S ELECTRICAL SYSTEM CAUSED A FIRE. THE SMOKE AND BURN PATTERNS INDICATED THE FIRE BEGAN IN THE FRONT DASH AREA. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, NOTHING WAS ON, NO ELECTRICAL DEVICES PLUGGED IN. IT HADN'T BEEN DRIVEN IN SEVERAL HOURS, NO ONE WAS IN THE CAR (DOORS WERE STILL LOCKED, THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM NO LONGER OPERATED AND THE WINDOWS HAD TO BE BROKEN TO GET INTO THE VEHICLE). THE FIRE MELTED THE FRONT DASH, ESPECIALLY ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, SMOLDERED FOR QUITE A WHILE, AND WAS HOT ENOUGH TO CRACK THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. THERE IS EXTENSIVE FIRE AND SMOKE DAMAGE TO THE CAR.

I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE OF A FINAL REMEDY IN JULY 2017. I HAVE BEEN ON A WAITING LIST FOR WITH A BMW DEALERSHIP FOR MONTHS, WHO KEEPS TELLING ME THEY ARE STILL WAITING ON THE PART FROM BMW N.A. THE DEALERSHIPS (FAIRFAX, VA AND ALEXANDRIA, VA) ARE TELLING ME THAT BMW N.A. IS THE REASON FOR THE DELAY. THEY ARE SIMPLY NOT GETTING THE PARTS IN A "REASONABLE" PERIOD OF TIME. HOW LONG IS A "REASONABLE" PERIOD OF TIME? A YEAR?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 BMW 328I. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR HANDLE GRIP WAS DETERIORATING. ADDITIONALLY, A STICKY SUBSTANCE WAS GETTING ON THE OCCUPANT'S HANDS. ALSO, THE BRAKE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BMW OF CHATTANOOGA (6806 E BRAINERD RD, CHATTANOOGA, TN 37421, (423) 381-6419), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,016.
I OWNED A 2008 BMW 335I FOR ABOUT 4 YEARS. LAST MONTH I WAS DRIVING THE CAR HOME AFTER PICKING IT UP FROM DEALER. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER BECAUSE THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR FAILED AND ALSO WENT FOR THE BATTERY RECALL. DRIVING BACK FROM THE DEALER BACK TO MY APARTMENT WAS ABOUT 30-40 MINUTES. SO RIGHT WHEN I PULLED INTO THE APARTMENT PARKING LOT, I NOTICED MY TRUNK WAS SMOKING THROUGH MY REAR VIEW MIRROR. I QUICKLY TRIED TO PARK SOMEWHERE EMPTY, THEN I GOT OUT AND I SAW THE REAR END OF THE CAR WAS FLAMING UP. IT TOOK LESS THAN 20 MINUTES, THE ENTIRE CAR WAS COVERED WITH FIRE. SINCE THE FIRE STARTED FROM THE REAR, I AM SURE THAT'S THE BATTERY WIRE CONNECTION THAT CAUSED THIS. I AM FRUSTRATED BECAUSE I DD THIS CAR AND ONLY HAPPEN AFTER THE SERVICE FROM THE DEALER. ALSO WHY BMW DESIGN AND POSITION THE FREAKING BATTERY AND WIRES BEHIND THE GAS TANK?

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER (BMW OF MONTEREY, 1 GEARY PLAZA, SEASIDE, CALIFORNIA 93955) CONFIRMED THAT PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE TO PERFORM THE RECALL REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
ON JUNE 24TH 2017 AS I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AT MY HOUSE IN MY 2008 CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED BMW 328XI, THE CAR WAS IN MOTION, WITH MY 3 YEAR OLD SON AND HE NOTICED SMOKED COMING FROM THE VENTS. I TURNED MY HEAD AROUND TO SEE WHAT HE WAS TALKING ABOUT AND NOTICED SMOKE BILLOWING FROM THE VENTS AND GLOVE BOX AREA. I IMMEDIATELY UNBUCKLED HIM FROM HIS CAR SEAT AND TOLD HIM TO GET OUT. I EXITED THE VEHICLE, DIALED 911, AND GOT HIM TO A SAFE DISTANCE. I COULD SEE AN ELECTRICAL FIRE (BASED ON LOCATION AND SMELL) COMING FROM UNDER THE PASSENGER SIDE DASH BOARD NEAR THE GLOVE BOX, WITHIN 4 MINUTES THE ENTIRE VEHICLE WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS PHYSICALLY INJURED. THE FIRE INVESTIGATOR SAYS THE FIRE ORIGINATED FROM THE GLOVE BOX AREA WHERE A FUSE PANEL AND BATTERY CABLE ARE LOCATED AS IDENTIFIED IN THE FIRE REPORT ATTACHED. IT IS MY BELIEF THAT THE FIRE WAS CAUSED BY AN ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTION AT THE FUSE PANEL LOCATED UNDER THE GLOVE BOX. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND IN 2013 THERE WAS A RECALL (NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V044000) FOR THE VEHICLES POWER CABLE ATTACHED TO THE FUSE BOX THAT WAS FIXED; HOWEVER, I BELIEVE THAT IT WAS EITHER FIXED IMPROPERLY BY BMW OR THE RECALL DIDN'T FIX THE ISSUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 BMW 328XI. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE GARAGE, A FIRE STARTED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO NOTIFY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND A FIRE INSPECTOR EXTINGUISHED THE FLAMES. A FIRE INSPECTION REPORT WAS NOT PROVIDED AT THE TIME. THE FIRE BEGAN NEAR THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE INSURANCE COMPANY AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED AND THE CONTACT WAS WAITING FOR THEM TO INVESTIGATE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AT THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE AND WAS UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, ADDED WATER TO THE RADIATOR, AND WAS ABLE TO RESUME DRIVING. THE PARTS NEEDED FOR THE REPAIR WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BRAMAN BMW (2060 NE 2ND AVE, MIAMI, FL 33137, PHONE: (305) 571-1200), BUT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 112,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT AND VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER INSIDE DOOR HANDLE BROKE. DOOR CANNOT BE OPENED FROM INSIDE.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED TO BE MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
TAKATA RECALL ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED FROM DEALSHIP. CONTACT DEALERSHIP TO FOLLOW UP WHEN REPAIR CAN BE MADE AND ALWAYS BEING INFORMED OF PARTS BACKED ORDERED AND WAS TOLD THEY WILL CONTACT ME WHEN THEY RECEIVE PARTS. NEVER ONCE HEARD BACK AND I WOULD CALL BACK AGAIN FOR FOLLOW UP AND KEEP GETTING TOLD THE SAME THING, PARTS BACK ORDERED AND THEY WILL GET PARTS WITHIN A WEEK AND WILL CONTACT ME WHEN THEY GET THE PARTS. BEING TOLD THE SAME ISSUE OVER AND OVER AGAIN EVERY TIME I CONTACT TO SCHEDULE REPAIR ON THIS RECALL. AND NEVER WILL I GET A FOLLOWUP NOTICE AND HAVE BEEN THIS WAY FOR NEARLY A YEAR.
TAKATA RECALL. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN APRIL 2017 FROM CARMAX WITH A OPEN AIRBAG RECALL AND HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET IT DONE WITH THE LOCAL BMW DEALERS SINCE.
THIS CAR HAS BEEN TOTALED OUT BY MY INSURANCE COMPANY DUE TO THE FRAME BEING WAPED RADIATOR BUSTED SUSPENSION WARPED ELECTRICAL ISSUES WITH THE BLOWER MOTOR THIS WAS THE 1ST FIRST OF MY 4 BMWS TO LEAVE ME OWING MONEY ON A VEHICLE THAT ISN'T DRIVABLE LOCATION AND ISSUE UNKNOWN
AFTER DRIVING UP TO 75MPH AT HWY, I PARKED MY CAR AT PARKING LOT AND 15 MINUTES LATER , SOMEONE NOTIFIED ME THAT THERE'S SMOKE COMING OUT FROM MY ENGINE BAY. I IMMEDIATELY OPENED THE HOOD AND THE RIGHT HEADLIGHT WAS ON FIRE ALSO SPREAD TO THE HEAT SHIELD (ATTACHED TO THE HOOD). I WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISED THE FIRE BUT THE TOP PART OF THE HEADLIGHT MELTED THRU THE WIRES. I READ THAT THERE ARE SEVERAL ISSUES WITH THIS HEADLIGHT AND WANT TO KNOW IF BMW HAS RECALLED THIS LIGHT. I LOOKED IT UP AND THE PART ITSELF COST AROUND $1,100 PLUS LABOR. IF THIS IS A DEFECT, BMW SHOULD REPLACED THIS PART AT NO COST TO THE CUSTOMER.
I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THE INSULATION SLEEVES ON THE HEADLIGHT WIRING FLAKING OFF. I WITNESSED SHORT CIRCUITS AND SPARKS WHILE SIGNALING AND DRIVING AT NIGHT. ALL THE WIRES ARE ALREADY CLOSE TO EACHOTHER AND NOW THE INSULATION IS COMPLETELY OFF CAUSING A FIRE HAZARD AND FIXING THIS MYSELF IS IMPOSSIBLE AS WELL AS COSTING OVER 1200 DOLLARS JUST TO BUY NEW HEADLIGHTS.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 116,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
PASSENGER SEAT MAT FAILED TURNING OFF PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAGS FOR A CAR MANUFACTURED IN FALL 2007 IN GERMANY. BMW DON'T WANT TO TAKE OWNERSHIP OF THE PROBLEM DESPITE THIS BEING A SAFETY ISSUE AND MODELS PRIOR TO THIS CUT-OFF DATE HAVING ALREADY BEEN RECALLED FOR THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. THE PASSENGER SEAT IS RARELY USED AND THE CAR, DESPITE BEING 9 YEARS OLD, HAS ONLY DONE 39,000 MILES. THIS IS A DANGEROUS CONDITION IF THE AIRBAG IS TRULY TURNED OFF THOUGH NO CODES INDICATE THIS IS THE CASE. DON'T KNOW WHAT TO BELIEVE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 BMW 335I. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED INTO SECOND GEAR, BUT LOST POWER AND FAILED TO ACCELERATE WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO COAST THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S JOB. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V067000 (POWER TRAIN). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 103,000.

STRONG SMELL OF BURNING ELECTRIC WIRING WHILE DRIVING. TURN OFF AC. AFTERWARDS AC STOPPED WORKING. UPON INSPECTION, AC BLOWER MOTOR HAD BURNED WIRING TO THE POINT THAT IT WAS BROKEN. HAD TO GET BLOWER MOTOR AND CONNECTOR REPLACED. NO VISIBLE SMOKE OR FLAMES. STRONG SMELL OF PLASTIC/ELECTRONICS BURNING WHEN IT HAPPENED. WIRING DAMAGE PRETTY BAD. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION IN CITY STREET WHEN IT HAPPENED SMELL CONTINUED FOR SEVERAL MINUTES EVEN WITH WINDOWS OPEN.
WE RECEIVED NOTICE A OF RECALL OVER A YEAR AGO AND YET WHENEVER I CALL MY LOCAL BMW THEY TELL ME THERE IS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT AND THAT WE WILL BE NOTIFIED WHEN THEY CAN FIX IT. THEY TELL ME THAT IT IS MOSTLY OLDER VEHICLES THAT ARE AFFECTED....BUT OURS IS 8 YEARS OLD.

THE CONTACT CALLED BRAMAN BMW OF WEST PALM BEACH AT (561) 609-0130 (LOCATED AT 1013, 2901 OKEECHOBEE BLVD, WEST PALM BEACH, FL 33409) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. WATER PUMP FAILURE THE WATER PUMP ON MY CAR HAS NOW FAILED TWICE. IT FAILED IN SEPTEMBER OF 2013 AND I PAID THE DEALER TO REPLACE IT WITH A NEW ONE. IT HAS NOW FAILED AGAIN. THE CAR HAS 84,000 MILES ON IT. THERE IS NO WAY WATER PUMPS SHOULD FAIL TWICE.
TAKATA RECALL. I RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL IN FEBRUARY 2017. I CONTACTED THE BMW DEALER (NORTH SCOTTSDALE BMW, SCOTTSDALE AZ) AND WAS TOLD THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE AND WE WOULD BE CONTACTED WHEN IT WAS RECEIVED. WE FOLLOWED UP APRIL AND WERE TOLD THE SAME THING. THE CAR WAS THEN RELOCATED TO ALABAMA IN MAY. IN JUNE WE CONTACTED THE LOCAL BMW DEALER (MOBILE BMW) AND WERE TOLD THE SAME STORY. WE FOLLOWED UP IN SEPTEMBER AND WERE TOLD, AGAIN, THE PART IS NOT AVAILABLE. THIS IS REALLY BAD GIVEN THE SAFETY CONCERNS INVOLVED. IT IS NOW 8 MONTHS SINCE RECEIVING THE ORIGINAL RECALL NOTICE AND WE STILL HAVE A POTENTIAL DEADLY ISSUE THAT BMW DEALERS IN TWO STATES ARE CONSISTENTLY IGNORING.
POWER LOCK SYSTEM FAILED TRAPPING WIFE INSIDE WHILE STOPPED ON A PARKING LOT. NO MANUAL OVERRIDE ON DOOR HANDLES. WIFE DROVE HOME AND TRIED TO USE VALET KEY REACHING FROM INSIDE THRU WINDOW TO UNLOCK DOOR. VERY DIFFICULT TO SEE. SHE DROPPED KEY. SHE WAS THEN TRAPPED. ONLY MEANS OF EGRESS AT THAT POINT AS PER ON LINE BMW REP WAS TO CLIMB OUT WINDOW. HAS HIGH POTENTIAL FOR INJURY FOR MOST FOLKS IF DONE ALONE. FORTUNATLLEY I ARRIVED ON SCENE AND UNLOCKED DOOR. IF VERY FRAIL 93 YR OLD MOTHER HAD BEEN IN PASSENGER SEAT RESCUE/EXTRACTION WOULD HAVE BEEN VERY EXCRUTIATING AND REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL ASSISTANCE. I CONTACTED BMW MULTIPLE TIMES BEFORE THE RECALL NOTICE AND HAVE BEEN STONEWALLED SINCE. JUST TWO DAYS AGO MY BLOWER MOTOR STOPPED WORKING SUDDENLY AND GOT HOT UNDER THE GLOVE BOX. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET THIS FIXED FOR OVER 1 1/2 TO NO AVAIL. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER HAVE NOT HELPED AND I NEED TO CONSULT THE NHTSA FOR HELP. I WANT THIS PROBLEM FIXED AND I WANTED IT YESTERDAY. DUE TO THE FACT THAT BMW HAS NOT PROVIDED A SOLUTION/REMEDY FAST ENOUGH, I HAVE HAD TO TRAVEL WITH NO AIR CONDITIONING IN THE FLORIDA HEAT, WHAT MAKES IT WORSE IS WUEN IT RAINS. THEY REFUSE TO OFFER ALTERNATE TRANSPORTATION AND I HAVE BEEN RUDELY YELLED AT AND DISCOURAGED FROM TRYING TO REACH CORPORATE. I TRIED TO EXPLAIN MY SITUATION AND THE SERIOUSNESS OF MY SITUATION TO NO AVAIL. BMW HAS A LONG HISTORY OF GOOD AND BAD, YET THEY REFUSE TO HELP A CUSTOMER OR TO HELP RELIEVE THE BURDEN OF THE RECALL OR OFFER EXTRA ASSOSTANCE OR SATISFACTION IN THIS PARTICULAR CASE. I WISH TO HAVE SOMETHING DONE ABOUT THIS.
THE AIR BAGS HAVE BEEN RECALLED DUE TO THEM BEING UNSAFE AND CONTAINING DANGEROUS MATERIAL THAT COULD SEND METAL SHARDS INTO THE VEHICLE WHEN THE AIRBAGS DEPLOY. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE BMW DEALER WE BOUGHT IT FROM AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT FIX THE AIRBAGS AND WE HAD TO JUST DRIVE IT REGARDLESS OF THE FACT IT WAS DANGEROUS TO DO SO. BMW IS LIABLE FOR THE ISSUES IN THE VEHICLE BUT IS NOT DOING ANYTHING TO FIX IT. HENCE, I GET TO DRIVE A DANGEROUS VEHICLE AROUND WITH NO SAFETY FEATURES BECAUSE OF THEIR NEGLIGENCE.

THE DEALER STATED THAT THE SENSOR UNDER THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 76,000.

TAKATA RECALL. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO HAVE THE DEFECTIVE AIRBAGS REMOVED. I CALL MY LOCAL DEALER AND ALL THEY SAY IS THAT THE AIRBAGS ARE BACKORDER. WHEN THEY RECEIVE THEM THEY WILL CALL ME. I HAVE WAITED OVER ONE YEAR AND NO ANSWER.
HEARD A NOISE WHEN TURNING LEFT THEREFORE I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE. IMMEDIATELY. AS PER REPORT " FOUND THAT BOLTS TO MOTOR MOUNT SUPPORT ARM SHEERED OFF" - ALL 4 BOLTS WERE REPLACED. THIS CAR IS ONLY DRIVEN ON EVEN ROADS AND ONLY HAS 47,496 MILES AND HAD NO INCIDENT THAT WOULD CAUSE THIS ISSUE!!! THIS WAS ON A CITY STREET.

ON NOVEMBER 18, 2016, AT APPROXIMATELY 7:45 AM, I WAS DRIVING ON SEWARD HIGHWAY TOWARDS WEST INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT ROAD IN ANCHORAGE, ALASKA AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY SUNROOF EXPLODED AND GLASS SHARDS FELL ABOVE MY HEAD AND ALL OVER THE INTERIOR OF MY CAR. I CALLED BMW CORPORATE FOR A RESOLUTION BUT THEY INITIALLY DENIED MY CLAIM SAYING IT MUST HAVE BEEN HIT WITH A ROCK AND I SHOULD BE CALLING MY CAR INSURANCE INSTEAD. I CONTACTED BMW CORPORATE FOR THE SECOND TIME. THEY WERE ABLE TO ESCALATE MY ISSUE AND OFFERED ME A "GOODWILL" OFFER TO REPLACE ALL PARTS INVOLVED FREE OF CHARGE ON MY ISSUE, BUT NOT LABOR. LABOR CHARGE IS APPROXIMATELY $900 AND THEY REQUIRE IT TO BE DONE AT THE DEALERSHIP. IT IS ABSURD! I'M NOT PAYING FOR A DAMAGE WHICH I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE. IT SEEMS LIKE THEY ARE NOT CONSIDERING THIS AS A BIG PROBLEM AND RATHER DENYING DEFECTS ON THEIR SUNROOFS. I WAS FURIOUS AND EXCLAIMED THAT IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND I COULD HAVE BEEN INJURED, COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED, OR WORSE, COULD HAVE KILLED SOMEONE ELSE. WITH THEIR "GOODWILL" OFFER AND THE ABSURD LABOR CHARGE, I DON'T THINK I COULD GET THIS ISSUE RESOLVED WITHOUT THE HELP OF NHTSA TO PRESS BMW TO DO FURTHER INVESTIGATION. I'VE HAVE HAD SEVERAL ISSUES INVOLVING THE FUEL PUMP/INJECTORS. ALL SERVICE HAS BEEN PERFORMED AT THE SAME DEALER. THE COST HAS EXCEEDED 3500.00 IN THE LAST 3 YEARS. VEHICLE OVERHEATED DURING HIGH SPEED DRIVING AND BEGAN RAPIDLY SLOWING FORCING AN EMERGENCY EXIT FROM THE HIGHWAY. FORTUNATELY I WAS NEAR AN EXIT. BMW DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE WATER PUMP BUT PERSON AT THE DEALERSHIP EXPLAINED THAT THE WATER PUMP WAS PROBABLY BLOWN AS A RESULT OF THE FAILURE OF THE "IBS" CABLE. DEALER HAD TO REPLACE THE "NEGATIVE IBS CABLE." THEREFORE, IT APPEARS THAT FAILURE OF THIS CABLE WILL REQUIRE EMERGENCY STOPPING OR EMERGY HANDLING AT ANY SPEED. THE HIGHWAY SPEED I WAS TRAVELING MADE THIS PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS. I HAVE THE REPAIR INVOICE SHOWING THE REQUIRED REPLACEMENT OF THE NEGATIVE IBS CABLE.
