LAST YEAR I COULD HEAR A SOUND OF WATER THROUGH MY SUNROOF AND WOULD HAVE WATER THROWN AT ME THROUGH MY AC. MY STEREO AND DASH STOPPED WORKING AND SUDDENLY STARTED WORKING AFTER A COUPLE OF MONTHS. I TOOK IT TO 2 DIFFERENT LOCATIONS AND THEY WOULD TELL ME THERE WAS NO SHORT IN A FUSE. YESTERDAY MY CAR WOULD NOT START IT WAS STATIONED IN FRONT OF MY HOME. I WENT TO A MECHANIC AND FOUND THAT MY BATTERY WAS SITTING IN WATER. THE CAR WILL NOT START EVEN AFTER WATER WAS DRAINED AND THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED. I CALLED BMW BUT THEY WANT TO CHARGE ME $385 JUST FOR A DIAGNOSTIC. I HAVE CHANGED MY BATTERY LIKE 4 TIME IN THE LAST 2 YEARS WHICH IS JUST A HEADACHE IN ITSELF. MY VEHICLE WONT START.
2007 BMW 525I. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE RECALLED POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE CONNECTION. *AS *JS
THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT OCCUPANT DETECTION LIGHT IS ON DUE TO THE MAT CUSHION FAILURE. THIS IS VERY COMMON ON BMW AND MOST OF THEM HAVE A RECALL ISSUED, BUT NOT FOR MY 2007. PLEASE ADVISE AS THE DEALERSHIP WANTS $1800 FOR A NEW ONE. PASSENGER AIRBAG WILL NOT WORK UNLESS REPLACED
WHILE SITTING AT A LIGHT CAR WAS IMPACTED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE FROM THE PASSENGER'S SIDE AT THE REAR AXLE WHEEL AREA. AUTO STRUCK VEHICLE AT SPEEDS NEAR 80-100 MPH. AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY EVEN THOUGH WHEN THE CAR STUCK IT CONTINUED FROM THE REAR TO THE FRONT OF THE CAR EVEN PARTIALLY RIPPING THE FRONT BUMPER OUT OF PLACE.
I PURCHASED THIS BMW FROM LOMBARD TOYOTA . AS PER THEM THEY HAVE ENSURED NOTHING IS WRONG WITH THE CAR . I WAS DRIVING THE CAR AND WHEN I APPLY THE BRAKES THE CAR TRIES TO JUMP FORWARD. MY CAR IS A ALL WHEEL DRIVE AND IT CAUSED A SKID . THIS HAS CAUSED ME TO HAVE THE CAR GO OUT OF CONTROL WHEN IT WAS SNOWING . MY MESSAGE DISPLAY IS STATING THAT THE AIRBAG ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT OCCUPANT MAY NOT DEPLOY IN A CRASH DUE TO CRACKS AND FATIGUE WHICH COULD LEAD TO A SYSTEM FAILURE, THIS LOOKS LIKE IT COULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL ISSUE THAT I WASN'T NOTIFIED ABOUT
MY 2007 BMW 530I HAS A MESSAGE IN THE DASH WITH A RED STEERING WHEEL SAYING "STEERING WHEEL LOCK MALFUNCTION!" "STEERING WHEEL MAY STAY LOCKED/UNLOCKED AND VEHICLE MAY NOT START"..... I HAVE CALLED THE BMW MANUFACTURING COMPANY IN SOUTH CAROLINA AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT THIS ISSUE STATING THAT THE VEHICLE WAS 11 YRS OLD AND PROBLEMS WILL ACCRUE WITH THAT AGE ON ANY VEHICLE. YES THAT MAY BE TRUE BUT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL COULD LOCK WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE RD AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I ALSO CALLED THE LOCAL BMW DEALERSHIP TO SEE HOW MUCH IT WOULD COST TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE ON MY OWN AND THE SAID THAT THE PART ITSELF WAS AROUND $600!!! THEN ADD ON 4HRS OF LABOR TO THAT WITH A LABOR RATE OF $145 AND HE! THAT ADDS UP TO ALMOST $1200.00, HOW CAN A STEERING WHEEL LOCK COST SO MUCH! AND US CUSTOMERS BE FORCED TO PAY THIS AMOUNT BECAUSE IF WE DON'T WE MAY END UP ON THE INTERSTATE AT 70MPH AND THE STEERING LOCKUP AND HAVE MAJOR ACCIDENT. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP WITH THIS ISSUE!

WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE ON EITHER THE STREET OR HIGHWAY. MY VEHICLE BEGINS TO RELEASE LARGE AMOUNTS OF SMOKE FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND SOME SORT OF FUMES COME INTO THE CAR THROUGH THE VENTILATION SYSTEM WHICH MAKES IT HARD TO BREATHE AND SEE.

ALL WINDOWS WERE CLOSED, NO RADIO PLAYING, NO FORWARD TRAFFIC OR WIND TO PRODUCE AIRBORNE ROAD DEBRIS. THE ORIGINAL FACTORY ROOF WAS NOT MADE WITH LAMINATED GLASS PRODUCING A DEAFENING EXPLOSIVE SHOWER OF GLASS PIECES. PANORAMIC SUNROOF NOT COVERED UNDER REGULAR GLASS INSURANCE, REQUIRED AN EXPENSIVE AUTO CLAIM TO REPLACE.

WHILE ON HIGHWAY FOUR MOTOR MOUNT BOLTS SUDDENLY BROKE, CAUSING THE MOTOR VIBRATIONS, TO BREAK THE WATER PUMP, AXLE AND MORE, IF CONTINUED TO DRIVE MOTOR COULD FALL ON THE ROAD.
THERE'S A RECALL FOR MY CAR'S PCV AND BMW STILL HASN'T DEVELOPED A REMEDY TO FIX THE ISSUE....GOING ON 9 MONTHS NOW. HOW LONG ARE BMW DRIVERS WITH RECALLS SUPPOSED TO WAIT TO FIX THEIR CARS. I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT THE COMPANY WOULD LEAVE THEIR CUSTOMERS STANDING IDLE ON THIS ISSUE FOR SO LONG.

I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM BMW - NO. 13V-564 I HAVE GONE TO TWO DEALERSHIPS, INCLUDING THE ONE WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR BRAND NEW AND THEY WILL NOT COMPLETE THE REPAIRS DUE TO A REPLACEMENT PART ON HOLD NOTICE FROM BMW. THEY ALSO WILL NOT TELL ME WHEN THEY CAN COMPLETE THE REPAIR. I CALLED BMW AND RECEIVED NO HELP AT ALL, JUST TO TRY ANOTHER DEALER.
LIGHTS OF THE STEERING WHEEL ITS BEEN LOCK CAME OUT, THE CAR WAS PARK AND WAS READY TO GO TO WORK, BUT WHEN I TURNED ON THE LIGHT SHOW UP ON THE PANEL, AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS NOT LOCK, I WAS ABLE TO TURN IT,, I TURN IT OFF AND ON AGAIN AND THE LIGHT STILL ON
THIS SEEMS TO HAPPEN WHEN THE WEATHER IS HOT AND IN MAJOR TRAFFIC OR WHEN I AM OUT ON THE OPEN HWY DRIVING FOR ABOUT 1 TO 2HRS ON A HOT DAY. THE CAR WILL AUTOMATICALLY CUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. NO ALARM OR IDIOT LIGHT INDICATOR. THE PROBLEM IS YOU CAN BE DRIVING 60 TO 75 MILES PER HOUR ON THE INTERSTATE AND LOOSE CONTROL OF YOUR POWER STEERING AND ABILITY TO MANEUVER THE CAR TO A SAFE STOPPING POINT. IT WILL NOT START BACK UP UNTIL 15 TO 20 MINUTE LATER AS IF THE CAR NEEDS TO COOL DOWN. ONCE TIME PERIOD HAS ELAPSE THE CAR WILL RUN AS NORMAL. THIS HAS HAPPEN SEVERAL TIMES. DRIVING HOME FROM WORK IN TRAFFIC AND WE ONLY GOING 45 MPH BUT ITS HOT OUTSIDE AND THE CAR WILL CUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. I NOTICE ON THE BMW FORUM THIS IS PROBLEM THAT IS ACROSS THE BOARD WITH OTHER VEHICLES. THE CAR WILL CUT OFF AT A LIGHT AFTER DRIVING FOR LONG PERIOD OF TIME IN HOT WEATHER IN THE CITY LIMITS BUT ALSO ON THE HWY AFTER LONG PERIOD OF DRIVING.

MY CAR DO NOT GO PASS 50 MILES PER HOUR.
AT 51000 MILES A RED LIGHT WITH A STEERING WHEEL AND A PADLOCK APPEARED ON THE DASH. THE CAR STARTS AND STEERS OK WITH THE RED STEERING LOCK LIGHT ON. THERE ARE NO MECHANICAL ISSUES WITH THE CAR BUT THE LIGHT AND A MESSAGE STATING GO TO A SAFE PLACE BEFORE TURNING THE CAR OFF. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY TELL ME THE WHOLE STEERING COLUMN HAS TO BE REPLACED TO GET RID OF THE RED LIGHT AND THE MESSAGE ON THE NAVIGATION SCREEN. THIS WAS AFTER REPLACING THE STEERING COLUMN SWITCH CLUSTER AT A COST OF $1033.THERE WAS AN INTERNAL FAULT OF THE STEERING SENSOR CAUSING THE ABS LIGHT TO SHOW UP ON THE DASH. APPARENTLY BMW HAS BUILT IN DEFECTS THAT SHOW UP ON THE DASH AS A WARNING LIGHT . THERE ARE NO MECHANICAL PROBLEMS RELATED TO THE WARNING LIGHT BUT A VERY COSTLY FIX TO HAVE THE WARNING LIGHT REMOVED. THE SERVICE ADVISOR AT THE BMW DEALERSHIP SAID HE DIDN'T QUOTE ME ON THE STEERING COLUMN REPLACEMENT BECAUSE IT WASN'T WORTH DOING. SO I AM DRIVING THIS BMW WITH A RED DASH LIGHT SHOWING A STEERING WHEEL AND A PADLOCK WITH A MESSAGE ON THE NAVIGATION SCREEN TELLING ME TO DRIVE TO A SAFE PLACE BEFORE TURNING THE ENGINE OFF BECAUSE THE ENGINE MAY NOT START AGAIN. AFTER GOING ON LINE AND DOING SOME RESEARCH THE STEERING WHEEL/PADLOCK LIGHT ISSUE IS A COMMON PROBLEM. BMW NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL ON BOTH OF THESE ITEMS AND REPAIR THEM FREE OF CHARGE WHEN THEY OCCUR. *TR
I PULLED MY BATTERY TO CHARGE IT AND NOW I'M GETTING A WHEEL LOCK ALARM WHICH WILL NOT ALLOW MY CAR TO START. IT IS IN MY DRIVE WAY SAME AS WHEN I LAST USED IT. IT RAN FINE PRIOR TO CHARGING MY BATTERY.
OVERHEATED, I HAVE SPENT OVER $3000 TO REPAIR THE OVERHEAT PROBLEM, IT KEEP COMING BACK
THE CAR WILL NOT START, A STEERING LOCK MALFUNCTION AND A ENGINE MALFUNCTION MESSAGE APPEAR. HAD BMW MECHANICS TRY TO RESOLVE PROBLEM. CHANGED STEERING LOCK MECHANISM, REPROGRAM MODULES, CHANGE SEVERAL SENSORS, PLACE NEW BATTERY AND EVEN REPLACE THE DME. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 (NA) BMW 535I. WHILE REVERSING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE AT 4 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND FAILED TO ENGAGE. THE CONTACT APPLIED PRESSURE AND THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOOR WHEN IT FINALLY ENGAGED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A PARKED VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE POLICE WERE NOTIFIED, BUT NO REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED, THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONTACT OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V446000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 120,000.
THE WIRES FOR THE PARKING LIGHTS ARE BRITTLE AND FRAYING APART
THE LEFT FRONT PARKING BULB WAS NO WORKING, TOOK THE VEHICLE TO BMW DEALERSHIP IN COLUMBIA, S.C. TO HAVE BULB REPLACED. UPON PICKING UP THE VEHICLE, THE WARNING INDICATOR FOR THE SAME BULB AND THE LEFT FRONT HIGH BEAM WARNING BOTH LIGHTS WERE NOT FUNCTIONING CORRECTLY APPEARED. I RETURNED TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO INQUIRE WHY THE WARNING WAS ON, WHICH THEY STATED IT WAS PROBABLY LEFT LOOSE. THE SERVICE ADVISER RETURNED TO BRING ME INTO THE SHOP TO SHOW ME THE WIRING FOR THE LIGHT ASSEMBLY WAS CRACKING AND FALLING OFF, EXPOSING BARE WIRE CAUSING THE SHORT AND BLOWING THE BULBS. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT BMW STATED A NEW ASSEMBLY WOULD BE REQUIRED WHICH WOULD BE ABOUT $1500 EACH FOR THE PARTS. AFTER REPLACEMENT OF THE BULB WHILE IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT, THERE WAS ANOTHER ELECTRICAL SHORT CAUSING THE BULBS TO BLOW IMMEDIATELY. I HAVE READ THE WIRING WAS COATED WITH A SOY BASED PRODUCT, WHICH IS WHY THE WIRING COATING IS PREMATURELY CRACKING AND EXPOSING BARE COPPER WIRE, CREATING AN ELECTRICAL AND FIRE HAZARD. DUE TO THE INADEQUATE MATERIAL UTILIZED BY THE MANUFACTURER, IT SHOULD BE RECTIFIED BY THE MANUFACTURER PRIOR TO SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH.
EXPERIENCE "HIGHBEAM MALFUNCTION" WARNING LIGHT. INSPECTED THE HEADLAMPS (E60 ADAPTIVE XENON PART # 6312710157). THE DRIVER'S SIDE LOW-BEAM HALOGEN MELTED THROUGH REFLECTOR. INSPECTED WIRING AND THE SHEATHING / JACKET WERE DISINTEGRATING CAUSING SHORT CIRCUITING. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH, THIS IS A RESULT OF BMW'S USE OF BIODEGRADABLE MATERIALS IN MID-200'S CARS. NOT ONLY IS THIS A FIRE HAZARD, THE ONLY REMEDY IS TO GET A NEW HEADLAMP SET (~$1300 EACH)
THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AND THE CAR WILL NOT START. CAN NOT GET IT OUT OF THE STEERING WHEEL LOCK MODE THAT SHOWS IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. I HAVE SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND FIND THAT THIS HAS AND IS A PROBLEM FOR MANY PEOPLE WHO OWN BMW AUTOMOBILES, WHICH I CONSIDER TO BE VERY DANGEROUS. NOT TO MENTION INCONVENIENT SINCE YOU CAN NOT START OR DRIVE THE CAR. IT HAPPENED OUT OF THE BLUE FOR NO KNOWN REASON. I AM PRETTY DARN UPSET ABOUT THIS! LUCKILY I HAD JUST PUT THE CAR INTO THE GARAGE OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT MIGHT OF HAPPENED IF I WAS ON A PUBLIC STREET OR AWAY FROM MY HOME...PERHAPS IN A PARKING LOT. I WOULD BE STRANDED SINCE THE CAR CAN NOT START OR BE DRIVEN IF THE WHEEL IS LOCKED.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE MAT SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V564000 (AIR BAGS). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 131,000.
THE AIRBAG LIGHT AND THE SEATBELT LIGHT CAME ON, THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE SO I DON'T KNOW IF THE CAR OF THAT YEAR HAD A RECALL OR NOT ..IT WAS CITY STREET
PASSENGER RESTRAINT SYSTEM ERROR CODE. THE AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY! I AM AFRAID TO ALLOW ANYONE TO RIDE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT! THE EXACT SAME ISSUE BROUGHT A RECALL FOR ALL 5 SERIES FROM 2004 - 2006 AND APPARENTLY SOME 2007 MODELS. THEY ARE TELLING ME MINE ISN'T COVERED! THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE! DO I HAVE ANY RECOURSE??

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 BMW 530I. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE OCCUPANT RESTRAINT SYSTEM WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, THE DRIVER SEAT FELT AS IF THE LATCHES WERE LOOSE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.
WHEN I REALIZED A LIGHTBULB IN MY HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT I BOUGHT THE BULB ONLINE READY TO REPLACE IT. I REALIZED WHEN REPLACING THAT THE WIRES CONNECTING TO THE HEADLIGHTS ARE COMPLETELY FLAKED OFF. SO I WANTED MONEY ON A NEW BULB BECAUSE IT WON'T LIGHT UP REGARDLESS. NOW THIS NOT ONLY CAUSES THE BULB TO NOT WORK BUT IT MESSES WITH THE LIGHTS IN THE WHOLE SIDE OF THE HEADLIGHT. MY ENTIRE LEFT HEADLIGHT TWEAKS. SOMETIMES JUS ONE PARKING LIGHT IS OUT, THEN IT'S THE HIGH BEAM THAT DOESN'T WORK, THEN IT'S THE LOW BEAM. SOMETIMES WHEN I HAVE LOW BEAMS ON THE LEFT HEADLIGHT HAS ITS HIGH BEAMS ON BY ITSELF. ALL THIS HAPPENED BECAUSE I TRIED TO CHANGE A BULB AND THE WIRINGS JUS FLAKED OFF AS SOON AS THEY MOVED OR BENDED A BIT. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE MY HEADLIGHT WON'T WORK SOMETIMES AND THAT MAKES ME NOT SO VISIBLE AT NIGHT. ALSO I END UP UNINTENTIONALLY HAVING MY HIGH BEAMS ON WITH NO WAY FOR ME TO TURN IT OFF BESIDES COMPLETELY TURNING OFF MY HEADLIGHTS. PRETTY SURE IT'S AN ELECTRICAL OR FIRE HAZARD TOO TO HAVE A BUNCH OF NAKED WIRES SIDE BY SIDE. FAULT NUMBER 2 IS THE BRAKES. WHEN COMING TO COMPLETE STOP MY CAR JERKS. THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH THE BRAKE SYSTEM. I TALKED TO A COUPLE PEOPLE WITH THE SAME MODEL CAR AS ME AND THEY ALL HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. IT JUST HAPPENS ONCE THE CAR GETS TO A HIGH NUMBER OF MILES. SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE ABOUT THIS BECAUSE A FUNCTIONAL CAR SHOULDN'T BE JERKING WHEN COMING TO A STOP. ESPECIALLY IF THE BRAKES ARE IN PERFECT CONDITION.
THE STEERING LOCK MALFUNCTION LIGHT IS ON. THIS INDICATOR LIGHT CAME WHILE THE CAR WAS STATIONARY.
ON DAYS WARMER THAN 85 DEGREES, THE BRAKE PEDAL BECOMES STIFF AND GREAT FORCE MUST BE APPLIED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. IF THE CAR IS PLACED IN NEUTRAL AND THE ENGINE IS REVVED, THE BRAKE PEDAL RETURNS TO NORMAL, BUT RETURNS TO THE SAME PROBLEM SHORTLY. THIS ISSUE APPEARS TO BE THE SAME ISSUE THAT BMW ISSUED A RECALL FOR ON E60 VEHICLES WITH V8 ENGINES.
BMW Headlight wiring on the 530 series is defective. Wire Insulation throughout the headlight assembly crumbles. The design and wire specification were not fit for use. Heat may be an issue but has nothing to do with climate. The vehicle has spent most of its life in Michigan where the problem was first noted when the age of the vehicle was approximately 8 years. High heat within the headlight assembly also caused deterioration of the covering on fiber optic cable. This problem is well known to BMW owners. The bare wires within the headlight housing pose a risk of electrical shorts and potentially fires.
AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 5 MINUTES FROM HOME, I PARKED THE CAR IN THE PARKING LOT IN FRONT OF MY OFFICE. ABOUT 5 MINUTES LATER, BYSTANDERS NOTICED A FIRE IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT OF THE CAR AND CALLED 911. THE CAR WAS IN FLAMES IN A SHORT TIME. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED, PUT OUT THE FIRE.
