The contact owns a 2003 BMW 745i. The contact stated while pulling into the garage and depressing the brake pedal, the engine revved up loudly. The contact stated that upon releasing the brake pedal, the vehicle accelerated unintendedly, crashed into a refrigerator and pushed the refrigerator into the wall. The air bags did not deploy. There was no injury sustained. There was no police report filed. The contact parked and turned off the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred the following day. The contact stated that the ABS warning light and the brake warning light had illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 10V446000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic), and the contact was referred to the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle could not be repaired under the recall because the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 47,000.

IT SHOWED UP ON MY DASH BOARD AND NOW ITS NOT GOING AWAY
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 BMW 745I. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE FAN BELT FRACTURED AND AN UNKNOWN WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED, WHICH MEANT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OVERHEATING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. A WEEK LATER, THE HOOD WAS OPENED AND SMOKE WAS SEEN COMING FROM THE COMPUTER PANEL AS A FIRE STARTED. THE CONTACT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE WITH A WATER HOSE AND DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY. THE VEHICLE STOPPED SMOKING ONCE THE BATTERY WAS DISCONNECTED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE CAR SMOKES FROM EXHAUST SYSTEM WHEN YOU PULL OFF FROM RED LIGHT, DRIVEWAYS, OR WHENEVER YOU EXCEL IN THE CAR. I WAS TOLD ITS A ENGINE VALVE PROBLEM THAT BMW IS AWARE OF IN THE 7 SERIES. THIS CAR COST TO MUCH FOR ISSUES LIKE YOU ARE A VAPOR FROM BEYOND WHEN DRIVING. ALSO WHY IS IT A PROBLEM WITH SENSOR ON PASSENGER SIDE SEAT. I ONLY CARRY A 10 LB. PURSE THE LIGHT STAYS ON CONSIST.
THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMPS FAIL WHICH CAUSE THE CAR TO STALL AND CUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. IF YOU TURN THE CAR OFF AND ION IT MAY START BACK UP AND RUN AGAIN, BUT IT WILL CONTINUE TO STALL AND CUT OFF. BMW KNOWS THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND SAYS BOT HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMPS NEED TO BE REPLACED AT $2700 A PIECE. MY VEHICLE HAS 90,000 MILES ON IT.
WITHOUT WARNING, THE HOOD LATCH UNLOCKED AND CAUSED THE HOOD TO OPEN WHILE DRIVING , HAPPENED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS SINCE 2017/1/23. DEALERSHIP HAS TO SEE IT HAPPEN IN ORDER TO FIX. MILEAGE 100858 AT TIME I FIRST NOTICE IT.
WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH AND APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL IT BECAME DIFFICULT TO ENGAGE THE BRAKES AND ALMOST REAR ENDED A STOPPED VEHICLE. THE BRAKES WHERE NO LONGER FUNCTIONING PROPERLY AFTER THAT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE I WAS TOLD VACUUM BRAKE PUMP, THE LOCK RING SEAL, AND THE BRAKE BOOSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AFTER SOME RESEARCH I FOUND OUT THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE. I CONTACTED THE LOCAL BMW DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE RECALL WAS CLOSED FOR MY VEHICLE AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE TO REPAIR.THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 116,000. *TR

THE CONTACT CALLED BMW OF STERLING LOCATED IN STERLING, VIRGINIA AND WAS INFORMED THAT HE HAD TO PAY FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, THE PASSENGER AIR BAG MALFUNCTION WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED CONTINUOUSLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 181,000.

BOUGHT 2003 745LI NEW. MANY PROBLEMS FROM THE START AND OFTEN IN FOR SERVICE. DRIVER SIDE WINDOW MOTOR QUIT WORKING A YEAR AGO. LEARNED THIS IS COMMON WITH OTHER BLOGS AND BMW OWNERS. CURRENT MILES ARE ONLY 70,000. OVER THE PAST YEAR THE ENGINE HAS RUN EXTREMELY ROUGH EVEN HAVING TO STOP THE CAR BECAUSE OF IT. OCCASIONALLY HAS BEEN DIFFICULT TO RESTART. AFTER THREE WEEKS IN THEIR SERVICE CENTER BMW CAN'T SEEM TO FIGURE OUT THE CAUSE BUT WANT TO DO $4500 OF WORK IN THE ENGINE WHILE TELLING ME THEY CAN'T BE SURE THAT WHAT THEY DO WILL TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM!?

DRIVING AT 75MPH MY CAR STALLED AND THE STEERING BECAME STIFF. I BARLEY MADE IT OUT OF THE FAST LANE DURING HEAVY TRAFFIC AND OTHER CARS FLYING PAST ME AT 75/80 MPH. CAR STARTED BACK UP AND I PULLED OFF 1/4 MILE LATER IT STALLED AGAIN. I WAS IN THE SLOW LANE (STILL GOING 75MPH ) AND THE CAR STALLS AGAIN. I CALLED A TOW TRUCK AND HAD IT TOWED TO MY MECHANIC. MY MECHANIC CALLS ME AND SAYS ITS YOUR HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP. I JUST HAD ONE OF MY HPFP FAIL LAST YEAR NOW THE OTHER SIDE FAILED. THIS IS A KNOW ISSUES WITH BMW V12 ENGINE. JUST GOOGLE BMW 760LI HPFP. THERE IS A YOUTUBE VIDEO WITH WHAT FAILED IN THE PUMP. THERE ARE ALSO NUMEROUS ONLINE COMMUNITY'S THAT HAVE PICTURES OF THERE FAILED PUMPS. BMW BUMPS THE PRICES OF THESE PUMPS TO 2,500 DOLLARS A PIECE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE JUST LIKE ON THE 3 AND 5 SERIES THERE JUST AREN'T ENOUGH V12S PRODUCED FOR THIS TO BE A MAJOR RECALL LIKE ON THE 5 SERIES. BMW SHOULD GIVE THESE PUMPS A LONGER WARRANTY. *TR

THERE WAS A RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH THE 2006 BMW 745LI MODEL VEHICLE BUT NOT THE 2003 MODEL (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER:13V564000: AIR BAGS). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 142,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

WAS DETERMINED BY VOB BMW THAT ONE OR BOTH FUEL PUMPS IS DEFECTIVE IN THE CARS ENGINE. THE CAR HAS LESS THAN 50K MILES. BMW IS PROVIDING NO ASSISTANCE WITH THIS ISSUE, I FIND THIS UNBELIEVABLE DUE TO THE SELLING PRICE OF THIS VEHICLE. REPAIR COST IS ESTIMATED AT SIX THOUSAND DOLLARS. BMW STATES THAT THE CURRENT DEFECTIVE FUEL PUMPS WILL BE REPLACED WITH THE SAME EXACT PARTS THAT EXIST IN THE CAR, WITH A 90 DAY WARRANTY. I AM TERRIFIED TO PUT THE CASH INTO THE VEHICLE FOR THE NEW PUMPS TO FAIL AFTER 40K MILES AS WELL. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED, THIS CAR IS IN IMMACULATE CONDITION & SHOULD NOT HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE AT ALL... *TR
MY CAR IS HAVING SEVERE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS THAT WERE RECALLED ON OTHER CARS OF THE SAME YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL. ALSO THE PARK LIGHTS WON'T WORK MOST OF THE TIME. I HAVE A SERIOUS OIL LEAK MY, LIGHT CONTROL SYSTEM IS NOT WORKING, AIRBAG IN THE SEAT NOT WORKING, BRAKES AND HUD ASSEMBLY HAS TO BE REPLACED. *TR

IN 2011 ROSEVILLE BMW BEGAN WORK ON A RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE (RECALL CAMPAIGN 10V- 446.) THE FIRST STEP OF THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED BUT DUE TO A ?VISUAL INSPECTION? IT WAS DEEMED THAT THE REMAINING STEPS WERE NOT NECESSARY. ACCORDING THE RECALL NOTICES THEY DID NOT PROPERLY PERFORM THE RECALL AND WITHIN 18 MONTHS THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND PUMP BEGAN TO FAIL, WHICH CAUSED THE POWER ASSIST BRAKING TO BE INOPERABLE. AFTER BRINGING IT TO 2 BMW TECHNICIANS AND THE ROSEVILLE BMW DEALERSHIP IT HAS BEEN CONSISTENTLY DEEMED THAT THE PROBLEM IS THE EXACT SAME RESULT OF THE RECALL WITH THE SAME CAUSE. IN FACT, NO ONE HAS DENIED THAT THE PROBLEM I AM NOW EXPERIENCING IS EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE RECALL PROBLEM. HOWEVER, THE DEALERSHIP AND BMW HAVE BEEN UNABLE OR UNWILLING TO GET APPROVAL TO FINISH THE RECALL CLAIM SINCE THE WORK WAS ALREADY STARTED. I HAVE NOT BEEN FURNISHED WITH ANY OF THE DETAILS FOR DENIALS AND THUS FAR NEITHER THE DEALERSHIP NOR BMW ARE WILLING TO BE TRANSPARENT ABOUT THE DENIAL DETAILS, OR INITIAL RECALL WORK THAT WAS CONDUCTED (I WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THIS WORK AT THE TIME AND THOUGHT THEY JUST REPLACED MY BATTERY, WHICH WAS THE PURPOSE OF THE SERVICE.) MY BMW HAS BEEN HAVING ISSUES SINCE AROUND 40,000 MILES AND I FINALLY JUST FOUND OUT THAT THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMPS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IT SEEMS TO BE HAPPENING TO ALL OF THE 760 BMW'S AT AROUND 40-50K MILES. BMW IS TAKING NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS TYPE IN 2003, 2004 OR 2005 760LI BMW AND THE FIRST THING THAT POPS UP IS THE HPFP. THAT SHOULD GIVE YOU AN IDEA OF HOW MANY OF THESE CARS ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE. THERE AREN'T MANY OF THESE MADE AND IT SEEMS LIKE MOST OF THEM ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE. BMW ENDED UP HAVING TO DO A RECALL FOR THERE NEXT MODELS FOR THE FUEL PUMPS AND IT LOOKS LIKE OUR MODELS SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED TOO. THE REPLACEMENT COST ON THESE PARTS ARE $4K PER HPFP AND THERE ARE 2 IN THE 760'S. *TR

THE CONTACT HAD TO LEAVE THE VEHICLE ENGAGED IN NEUTRAL IN ORDER TO REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION AND APPLY THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 171,000.

TOOK CAR IN TO LOCAL DEALER AND DEALER REFUSED TO PERFORM RECALL DUE TO VACUUM PUMP LEAKING OIL, AND MUST BE REPLACED FIRST FULL OF CHARGE AT $1300.00USD. WHEN IN RECALL LETTER IT STATES THE PROBLEM TO BE "SMALL AMOUNT OF OIL COULD LEAK FROM THE BRAKE VACUUM PUMP INTO THE VACUUM HOSE, DEALER CLAIMS THERE ARE TO ONLY REPLACE VACUUM LINE HOSE. I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO PERFORM THE SERVICE AND THE MOMENT SO NOW I MUST DRIVE VEHICLE WITH FAULTY BRAKES! THANKS BMW USA! *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR BAG SENSOR WAS DEFECTIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS ONLY REPAIRED FOR THE SEAT BELT PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 200,060.
USED CAR PURCHASE. WITHIN 30 DAYS OF PURCHASE 760LI BEGAN TO HAVE PROBLEMS STARTING. ONCE STARTED, IDLE WAS ROUGH. JUMPED BETWEEN 0 AND 1K RPMS WHILE IN PARK. WHILE DRIVING CAR AT APPROX 20-25 MPH CAR ENGINE STALLED (*UNKNOWN TO DRIVER AS IT IS A QUIET RUNNING ENGINE/OCCUPANT CAB). POWER STEERING WAS LOST AND THE DRIVER NEEDED TO HARD CRANK THE STEERING WHEEL IN ORDER TO PULL OUT OF TRAFFIC AND ONTO ROADSIDE SAFETY. THIS BEGAN TO OCCUR REPEATEDLY AND UNEXPECTEDLY ON EVERY OCCASION THE CAR WAS DRIVEN. THIS CAR IS A DEATHTRAP!! BMW TOUTS IT AS THEIR FLAGSHIP VEHICLE. SINCE PURCHASING THE CAR I AM NOT ABLE TO DRIVE IT AND NO LONGER FEEL SAFE PLACING MY FAMILY IN THE CAR. THIS CAR SHOULD BE TAKEN OFF THE ROAD AND BMW SHOULD BE FINED FOR NOT PLACING A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE/PART. WAS DRIVING CAR AT NORMAL SPEED MAYBE 35 OR 45 MPH TRIED TO SLOW DOWN AND CAR SEEMED TO KEEP GOING DEPRESSED ALL THE WAY DOWN CAR SLOWED FINALLY AND STOPPED WAS CONCERNED SO CALLED THE BMW SERVICER ( AUTHORIZED REPAIRER) NOT DEALERSHIP THEY CHECKED AND INFORMED ME OF RECALL ON BRAKE SYSTEM AND FELT THAT WAS THE PROBLEM CAUSE THEY HAD ENCOUNTERED IT BEFORE SAYING IT WAS THE BRAKE BOOSTER OR VACUUM. THE CAR WAS UNABLE TO DRIVE SO WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP FOR RECALL WENT TO PICK UP VEHICLE THEY SAID CAR WAS FINE THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH CAR ASKED IF THEY HAD CHECKED THURALLY THEY SAID YES AND FOUND NO LEAKS OR PROBLEMS ASKED IF THEY TEST DROVE IT THEY SAID NO ASKED WHAT DID THEY CHECK THEY SAID BRAKE LINES AND LOOKED FOR LEAKS AROUND BOOSTER LINES AND VACUUM PUMP BUT ONLY A VISUAL INSPECTION AND WHEN I WENT TO DRIVE CAR HOME THE CAR WAS HAVING SAME PROBLEM WHEN I CALLED BACK THEY SAID I HAD TO PAY FOR A BRAKE SERVICE CHECK TO DIAGNOSE PROBLEM AND I ASKED DIDN'T YALL DO THAT WHEN YALL HAD IT BECAUSE I FELT IT WAS A DANGER TO ME AND EVERYONE ON HIGHWAY ME DRIVING A CAR WITH NO BRAKES BUT THEY SAID THAT IT WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL TO TEST VEHICLE JUST CHECK FOR LEAKS, AND THAT THEY WOULD ONLY REPLACE THE PARTS IF THEY SAW LEAKS AND REFUSED TO REPLACE ANYTHING (SO WHY WASTE TIME TO BRING VEHICLE IN IF THEY NOT GONNA FIX ANYTHING MAKES NO SINCE )SEEMED LIKE THEY DIDN'T CARE AND SAID WHAT EVER THE PROBLEM IS ISN'T UNDER THE RECALL BUT I'VE BEEN TOLD IT WAS EITHER BOOSTER OR VACUUM PUMP AND I STILL HAVEN'T GOTTEN IT FIXED IS THERE ANYTHING THAT CAN BE DONE JUST SEEMS LIKE THEY DON'T WANNA FIX THE VEHICLES JUST PULL U IN SO THEY CAN CHARGE U FOR RECALL PARTS LIKE A SCAM....... *TR

TERRIBLE TRANSMISSION IN THIS CAR!!!WHILE DRIVING, THIS CAR JUMPS INTO GEAR. FEELS LIKE SOMEONE HIT ME FROM BEHIND WHENEVER I STOP. IT ALSO STARTED LEAKING TRANSMISSION FLUID. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS CAR, I HAVE FOUND OUT THE 745LI MODELS ARE KNOWN FOR TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS,AND LEAKS. THIS CAR SHOULD HAVE A RECALL ON IT,BECAUSE APPARENTLY BMW KNOWS THIS,AND HAS DONE NOTHING ABOUT IT. THEY SHOULD MAKE CONSUMERS AWARE THEY HAVE ONGOING PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSIONS. I WENT TO DROP CAR OFF FOR REPAIR,AND THERE WERE 4 OTHER 745LI'S NEEDING SAME REPAIR. BMW SHOULD BE MADE TO RECALL THESE CARS,AND PAY TO HAVE THEM REPAIRED,OR REIMBURSE US IF WE ALREADY HAD THIS FIXED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 BMW 745I. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED INTO PARK, THE VEHICLE WOULD INDEPENDENTLY SHIFT INTO DRIVE. THE FAILURE CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO ROLL AWAY AND CRASH INTO A PORCH. THE FRONT BUMPER WAS DAMAGED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED AND NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED TO THE CONTACT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT IT WAS DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER THE STEERING WHEEL DURING THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC. THE LOCAL MECHANIC PERFORMED A TUNE-UP AND CHECKED TO SEE IF WATER WAS IN THE FUEL SYSTEM. THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE COMPUTER WAS THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE, NOT THE FUEL SYSTEM. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,000.

THERE IS A TUBE IN ENGINE THAT IS SECURED WITH TWO O RINGS. THE TUBE HOLDS COOLANT. IF THE O RINGS FAIL, THEN THE COOLANT LEAKS AND THE ENGINE WILL OVERHEAT. THERE ARE MULTIPLE CASES OF THIS DOCUMENTED ON THE INTERNET AND IT HAS OCCURRED IN MY VEHICLE. SERVICE REPRESENTATIVES HAVE INDICATED THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT THEY SEE ON 745'S ENGINES MADE BEFORE 2006. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER ALSO INFORMED THE CONTACT THEY WERE NOT SURE THE AIR BAGS WOULD DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 117,000.

CAR WAS RECALLED FOR BRAKE ISSUES. A HOSE WAS REPLACED. BRAKES BEGIN TO FAIL SHORTLY THEREAFTER AND GOT A POINT THAT THE CAR WOULD BARELY STOP. DEALER AND BMW SAY ITS MY PROBLEM AND INSIST I PAY ABOUT $2500 FOR A REPAIR THAT IS UNDER THIS RECALL. *TR
