I am unable to drive my 2017 BMW x3 Vin Number 5uxwx9c37h0t22306 anymore I recently took my vehicle to a mechanical and they told me that my Engine Coolant Pump is no longer good. I checked for any recalls, and the recall is Engine Coolant Pump which the description explains everything that's happening to my vehicle. This issue has been ruled non fixable, and I will like a responsible solution to this problem.

This doesn’t feel like the appropriate place for my concern; however, a representative from your Recalls Helpdesk directed me here, so I am filling out this form. My issue is not with a specific incident that happened with my vehicle. It’s with a recall that I was supposed to receive word of in August 2024. I never did receive word of that recall, but found it online when I needed to sell a car my fiancé inherited. I have tried extensively to get in touch with BMW for an update on this recall, as your website and all of the information I could glean from their website says they do not currently have a fix. This is getting to be really frustrating month after month as I need to sell the car my fiancé inherited and we are just having to wait while it depreciates month after month in our garage, not driving it because we don’t know if it’s safe to drive and even if it is, no one will buy a car that has a recall on it. Especially a recall that doesn’t have a fix, hasn’t had a fix for nearly 6 months, and doesn’t appear to be getting a fix that’s in anyway reasonable or available to owners of this car. BMW has been giving us the runaround and I’m starting to get really frustrated because they don’t appear to care that owners of this very expensive vehicle that’s otherwise in impeccable condition and nearly new have no recourse for months on in and no transportation in the meantime. I am reaching out, hoping that someone on your team can help me or at least point me in the right direction. Thanks so much for any guidance or expertise you can offer in advance.

While driving on the highway I had an error message pop up on the dash that said right brake light electrical malfunction and as soon as the error message popped up I saw a bunch of debris and smoke coming from the back right side of my car and the engine shut off. After sitting for some time while waiting for roadside assistance and trying to make it to safety since my car shut off in the middle of the highway it finally turned back on however I am unable to switch gears to be able to make it to safety

VEHICLE IS OVERDUE FOR SAFETY RECALL REPAIRS. IT’S BEEN NEARLY A YEAR engine coolant pump
Airbag malfunction. The warning on the car is PASSENGER RESTRAINT SYSTEM MALFUNCTION
White smoke started coming out from underneath the hood of the vehicle while driving it. When at a stop light, it was emitted at an alarming rate such that it necessitated stopping the vehicle immediately. No warning indicators on the dashboard were illuminated however the smoke was sudden and alarming. The vehicle was stopped on a very busy road during rush hour. A tow truck was used to take the vehicle to an independent service center. It was found that the valve cover was cracked and the camshaft adjuster seal flange gasket was insufficient causing oil to leak. The service center found the valve color leaking oil onto the catalytic converter. Leaking oil can be a fire hazard.
Passenger seatbelt sensor warning failure
On two separate occasions, the BMW has completely shut down in the middle of the road while driving. An alert showing something along the lines of "drive train failure" was shown on the dash display, and I simply had no control over driving the car. Upon making it safely to the side of the road, the car would not start, only sputter, when the push button start was engaged. After the first incident, the car was towed to a shop where they stated it was the high pressure fuel pump that needed to be replaced and stated there was a recall for this exact issue; however my VIN is not in the recall. Somehow, the car started working again and seemed okay, until it happened a second time, in the middle of the road AGAIN. Took it to a new shop, and received the SAME information, same part, same recall suggestion, with my VIN still not falling into the recall. The recall is for my exact year, model, engine number, everything - just not my VIN. It does not make any sense. The recall that number that should be covering this is 21V-586.
The contact owns a 2017 BMW X3. The contact stated while driving 75 MPH, the vehicle went into LIMP Mode and lost motive power. The contact was able to pull to the shoulder of the roadway, where the vehicle failed to restart. The power train warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the high-pressure fuel pump. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V586000 (Fuel System, Diesel) but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 61,000.
While driving on the freeway my brakes failed. I had pushed the pedal all the way down and the vehicle was still moving. This caused a rear end collision. There were no warnings that appeared.
Fuel pump failure- 71,000 miles
The contact owns a 2017 BMW X3. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V608000 (Engine and Engine Cooling, Electrical System); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated while depressing the brake pedal, the brake pedal went to the floorboard. The contact used the parking brake to assist while stopping the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic who diagnosed that the brake pads needed to be replaced. The contact stated that after the vehicle was repaired, the chassis failure and traction control failure warning lights light illuminated. The vehicle was returned to the mechanic and was diagnosed with brake failure. The contact was unsure of the parts that needed to be replaced to repair the vehicle. The dealer was not contacted about the recall. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 133,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
P 245/50 R18 There were leanings from time to time. The Firestone service checked the cause which related to the quality of the tires, too thin sidewall on all 4 tires.
Experienced a sudden fuel system failure at speeds above 50 mph. The car's engine shutdown without notice and would not restart. Being told by my shop requires the replacement of the fuel pump control module. After researching on the internet seems a common problem that is often misdiagnosed (even by bmw).
My BMW is signaling “Secure vehicle against rolling” notification when put in reverse. The Mechanics are saying that BMWS e springs are defected. Very dangerous for me and my children.
Fuel pump control module stopped working causing the engine to stop. It would not restart. Also, the car would not shift out of park into neutral, thus it could not be moved. This happened on a highway in traffic and created a very dangerous situation. Apparently, this fuel pump control module has a history of failing in hot weather. In this particular case the vehicle had been operating in 100 degree weather for a few hours.
The contact owns a 2017 BMW X3. The contact stated that while the contact's wife was pulling into a driveway, the vehicle sporadically accelerated and crashed into another vehicle. The contact stated that his wife was pumping the brakes but the vehicle failed to stop immediately. No air bags were deployed. The contact's wife was not injured and did not receive medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a repair shop. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000. The VIN was not available.
1. The fuel pump and electronic relay have malfunctioned 3x while driving. 3RD fuel Pump!!! 2. The car broke down in Downtown Atlanta, at night. The car stopped in parking lot at work at an event site, then Ubered home. I had the car towed the next day. 3. The issue wasn't reproduced by the dealer, however it reproduced on its own 3 times. 4. THe last repair, number three, the vehicle was kept by BMWGlobal Atlanta for approximately 30 days. The pump system was dead, but they couldn't reproduce the issue with the new pump. They blamed it on the fuel I was using, which was always Premium! 5. There were zero warning lamps in the car before the shutdowns. all three times the car the pumps died the car began stuttering right before it shut down.

The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the fuel pump. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was then towed to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the fuel pump and fuel control module regulator wiring harness. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V586000 (Fuel System, Diesel); but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 60,000.
I have an open recall on my vehicle that has not yet been repaired, and I’ve reached out to BMW multiple times and still haven’t received a letter from them regarding this Recall! If the vehicle can potentially catch fire then why would they think this isn’t a priority due to safety concerns!!!!
