IT IS MAKING A HORRIBLE CRYING NOICE AND IT'S VIBRATES. THE WATER PUMP WAS ALREADY TAKEN CARE OF BUT STILL ONCE AGAIN PROBLEMS

I PURCHASED MY BMW LAST YEAR IT HAD 89,000 MILES ON IT I WENT TO GET A OIL CHANGE AND 2 WEEKS LATER I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE CAR JUST WENT FROM 65 MILES TO 40 MILES THE BIG ENGINE LIGHT CAN ON AND NOW I CANT GO OVER 50 MILES SO INCANTVGETBIN THE HIGH WAY CAN SOMEONE PLZ TELL.WHAT YO DO I NEED SOME ANSWERS
SEAT OCCUPANCY SENSOR BROKEN AND THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ONGOING PROBLEM OF BMW
MY 2012 BMW X5 DEVELOPED TRANSFER CASE PROBLEM. THE TRANSFER CASE SHUTTERS AND THE CAR START JUMPING WHEN I MAKE LEFT OR RIGHT TURN FROM THE STOP, WHICH IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE. THE CAR HAS 49200 MILES AS OF TODAY, SEP 2019. THIS REPRESENTS DANGER IN DRIVING THE CAR AND TRANSFER CASE HAS TO BE REPLACED. SEARCHING THE INTERNET REVEALED THAT IT'S A COMMON ISSUE WITH 2012 BMW X5 VEHICLES AND IN MY OPINION, BMW MUST FIX FAULTY TRANSFER CASE FREE OF CHARGE. AS IT STANDS TODAY, BRAMIN BMW IN MIAMI QUOTED ME $5000 PLUS TAX TO REPLACE TRANSFER CASE.
EGR VALVE IS FAULTY CAUSING EMISSIONS ISSUES AND CAN LEAD TO OVERHEATING. RECALLS HAVE BEEN PERFORMED ON 2009 - 2011 MODELS AND 2013 MODELS AND NEWER BUT NOT ON THE 2012 WITH THE SAME ISSUE.
I HAD THE IDLER PULLEY BOLT RECALL SERVICE (RECALL NOTICE # 18V-336) COMPLETED BY THE LOCAL BMW DEALER ON MARCH 30, 2019. WHILE DRIVING ON JULY 27, I HEARD A SOFT "CLUNK", THEN THE A/C & POWER STEERING QUICKLY FAILED AND I RECEIVED THE "CHARGING MALFUNCTION" MESSAGE. I PROCEEDED TO MAKE MY WAY OUT OF TRAFFIC TO A STRIP CENTER AHEAD OF ME, AND RECEIVED A "LOW COOLANT" MESSAGE AT THAT TIME. I STOPPED THE CAR, AND OVER THE COURSE OF THE NEXT 4 HOURS (WHILE WAITING FOR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE) THE MAJORITY OF THE COOLANT, MIXED WITH WHAT I BELIEVED TO BE OIL, DRAINED OUT ALL OVER THE PARKING LOT. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT BMW MECHANIC, AND JULY 30, 2019, HE INFORMED ME THAT THE BOLT THAT HAD BEEN REPLACED UNDER THE RECALL HAD SNAPPED OFF COMPLETELY. AS HE EXPLAINED TO ME, THE SERPENTINE BELT WAS SHREDDED AS A RESULT, AND THE COOLANT HOSES WERE RIPPED LOOSE AND SUCKED INTO THE VEHICLE'S HARMONIC BALANCER. HE ALSO STATED IT APPEARS THE SERPENTINE BELT WRAPPED ITSELF AROUND ONE OF THE TURBO OIL FEED LINES WHEN IT BROKE AND RIPPED IT IN HALF. HIS IMMEDIATE RECOMMENDATION WAS TO TOW IT TO THE DEALER THAT PERFORMED THE RECALL SERVICE, WHERE IT NOW SITS AS OF THIS MORNING, JULY 31, 2019.
BMW X5 M 2012 E70 ENGINE FAILURE (S63). MILAGE ON THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME OF FAILURE WAS 49,000 MILES. THE VEHICLE STOPPED FUNCTIONING WHILE IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING AT ON A BUSY ROADWAY & COULD HAVE LEAD TO A SERIOUS ACCIDENT OR DEATH. BMW OF NORTH AMERICA REFUSED TO HELP IN ANY WAY. ENGINE REPAIR FROM THE BMW DEALERSHIP WAS QUOTED AT $38,000.
After accelerating normally on the highway the vehicle shut off completely, without warning, and put itself into neutral in the middle of a busy freeway. (No warning lights, no smoke or smell of any kind). The Car would not start despite multiple attempts using a jump start from the tow company. I could have been hit by another vehicle while stopped. The car was then towed to a BMW dealership where they determined an engine replacement was probably necessary because it appeared seized. (they could not turn the engine using a breaker bar with the belt off. ) No further investigation was done. The car was running: - castrol 5w-30, -regular oil & filter changes every 5,000 miles -was never modified -all the fuel injectors changed by the dealership under a recall 1 year before the vehicle died
ELCECTRICAL SYSTEM MALFUNCTION! CONTINUED DRIVING IS NOT POSSIBLE. HAVE THE SYSTEM CHECKED BY THE NEAREST BMW DEALER
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 BMW X5. WHILE DRIVING 35-40 MPH, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO OVERHEAT AND THE OVERHEATED WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WAITED UNTIL THE VEHICLE COOLED DOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO BMW OF ONTARIO (LOCATED AT 1301 AUTO CENTER DR, ONTARIO, CA 91761, (909) 402-3052) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WATER PUMP WAS MALFUNCTIONING AND LEAKING ALL OVER THE CIRCUIT BOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE REPAIR FEES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 114,000.
HAD TO REPLACE WATER PUMP AT 58,000 MILES. CAR IS SPEWING EXHAUST, AND ACCELERATION AND STEERING ARE NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY, LIKELY DUE TO UJOINT AND/OR WORN CONTROL ARM, WHICH I NOTICED WERE RECALLED FOR OTHER MODELS, BUT LISTED AS A RECALL FOR MY CAR/VIN. NEED TO RESEAL CRANKCASE JOINTING SURFACES. CAR HAS 8 RECALLS LISTED ON KBB, BUT BMW ONLY HAS RECORD OF 5 RECALLS. I DO NOT HAVE RECORDS OF REPAIRS THAT WERE DONE ON CAR BEFORE PURCHASE IN NOV. OF 2014. CAR CURRENTLY HAS 69,000 MILES AND IS DRIVING HORRIBLY
WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH 250 MILES AWAY FROM HOME THE DRIVE SHAFT ON MY BMW X5 BROKE. I THINK THE RECALL NUMBER IS 17V-138. I WAS ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY IN THE LEFT LANE. THE CAR WAS BUCKING AROUND, SMOKING AND WAS VERY VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER. BEFORE THIS THE CAR WAS DRIVING PERFECTLY. IT HAPPENED IN AN INSTANT. I WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITHOUT INJURING MYSELF OR MY PASSENGERS. I HAD MY CAR TOWED TO A LOCAL GARAGE WHO SAID IT WAS CATASTROPHIC. I LOOKED UP ON YOUR WEBSITE AND SAW THE DRIVE SHAFT WAS A RECALL. I WAS NEVER INFORMED OF THIS BY BMW. I HAD MY HOME GARAGE GO GET IT. THEY SENT IT TO A BMW DEALER WHO HAD IT OVER 2 MONTHS. THEY REPLACED THE ENGINE. IT WAS RETURNED TO MY GARAGE. I DROVE IT ABOUT 10 MILES BEFORE THE TRANSMISSION WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR LOST THE INABILITY TO ACCELERATE. I WAS ON THE THRUWAY SO THIS WAS VERY SCARY. BMW IS SAYING THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO W THE DRIVE SHAFT BREAKING AND KILLING THE ENGINE AS PARTS WERE FLYING AROUND INSIDE. 5 DAYS BEFORE THE ORIGINAL INCIDENT I HAD THE CAR CHECKED OVER BY MY GARAGE AS I WAS GOING ON A TRIP. I WAS TOLD MY CAR SHOULD HAVE THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND FILTER CHANGED NEXT TIME IN BUT IT WASN'T URGENT. I AM NOW LOOKING AT A $5000 REPAIR. OBVIOUSLY THIS IS FROM THE CATASTROPHE. BMW SHOULD PAY FOR THIS REPAIR, REIMBURSE ME FOR ALL THE TOWING CHARGES AND REIMBURSE MY GARAGE FOR LETTING ME HAVE A LOANER FOR OVER 2 MONTHS. PLEASE HELP. I HAVE PICTURES AND WILL TRY TO UPLOAD THEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 BMW X5. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A CLICKING NOISE UNDER THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE STARTED TO LOSE POWER, THE TRANSMISSION WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED, AND AN UNKNOWN FLUID EMERGED FROM THE TRANSMISSION AREA. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN UNKNOWN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DETERMINED THAT THE DRIVE AXLE FRACTURED AND DAMAGED THE TRANSFER CASE, WHICH NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO BMW OF MANHATTAN (555 W 57TH ST, NEW YORK, NY 10019), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED UNLESS IT WAS PAID FOR BY THE CONTACT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V138000 (POWER TRAIN). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000.
DRIVE SHAFT MALFUNCTION. WAS DRIVING THIS MORNING AND MADE A NORMAL LEFT TURN AND I HEARD SOMETHING POP AND AS I CONTINUED TO DRIVE SOMETHING FRONT PASSENGER WHEEL WELL WAS BANGING. I GOT THE CAR TOWED TO MY MECHANIC AND THEY DISCOVERED THERE WAS AN ACTUAL RECALL ON THIS SAME PART. I NEVER RECEIVED ANY MAIL NOTIFICATION ABOUT THIS PART AND I AM CONSTANTLY RECEIVING MAIL ABOUT AN AIRBAG RECALL THAT BMW HAS SAID THEY HAVE ALREADY REPAIRED. BMW DID SOME REPAIRS ON MY VEHICLE (AND HELD IT FOR WEEK) LESS THAN A YEAR AGO AND NEVER MENTIONED REPAIRING THE RECALLED PARTS. THIS IS HORRIBLE! THE BMW DEALERSHIP WAS BMW OF ANNAPOLIS, IN MARYLAND. IF PHOTOS ARE NEEDED MY REPAIR SHOP CAN PROVIDE THEM.
I HAVE 2012 BMW X5 35D, TRANSMISSION LIGHT CAME ON , BMW DEALER SAID THE EGR COOLER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. COST $1800 = TOO FIX. BMW DID A RECALL ON THE 2013 TO 2017 MODELS. MY POINT IS WHY WASN'T THE ALL 35D'S INCLUDED? ALL HAVE THE SAME ERG COOLER! BMW AND NHTSA SHOULD REVISE THIS RECALL. DID IT FOR NOS SENSORS. DO THE RIGHT THING, JUST MAKES SENSE.
NOTIFICATION FOR FAULTY FRONT PASSENGER SEAT OCCUPANCY SENSOR
I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE 2/27/19 BY 4/10/19, TWICE THE ENGINE CAUSED THE TRUCK TO SLOW DOWN AND TURN OFF AND FORCED ITSELF IN PARK. THIS HAPPEN WHILE I WAS DRIVING IN THE MIDDLE LANE IN TRAFFIC ON A BUSY STREET. THE ENGINE STARTED KNOCKING SO I TOWED THE VEHICLE TO THE MECHANIC AND THE MECHANIC FOUND METAL FLAKES IN THE OIL THE ENGINE WAS BLOWN.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO MOMENTUM BMW (10002 SOUTHWEST FWY, HOUSTON, TX 77074) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP FAILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO CONTACTED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BMW OF KANSAS CITY (816-895-6228, LOCATED AT 1200 W 104TH ST, KANSAS CITY, MO 64114) WHERE IT WAS STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 90,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 BMW X5. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A POPPING SOUND. THE BATTERY WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO RAY CATENA BMW (543 TARRYTOWN RD, WHITE PLAINS, NY 10607), BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE ENGINE IDLER PULLEY BOLT WAS REPAIRED BY THE SAME DEALER IN JUNE OF 2017. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 BMW X5. WHILE DRIVING 10-20 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL CLUNKING NOISE. THE CONTACT LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD AND NOTICED THAT THE BELTS WERE LOOSE. IN ADDITION, THE STEERING WHEEL WAS DIFFICULT TO TURN AND THE BATTERY INDICATOR WAS ILLUMINATED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE IDLER PULLEY WAS FRACTURED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 111,000.
I FIND IT DOWN RIGHT UNCONSCIENABLE THAT BMW IS ALLOWED TO HAVE AN OPEN RECALL THAT MAY CUSE A CRASH UNRESOLVED MONTHS AFTER NOTIFICATION. ON THURSDAY 2/22/19 WHILE ON MY WAY TO AN EVENT WHEN THE OCCURENCE MATERIALIZED. I LOST STEERING AND ENGINE FUNCTION ON A 2 PLUS MILE WINDING COMMERCIAL DRIVEWAY. THROUGH THE GRACE OF GOD I REMAINED CALM AND FORCIBLY AND MIRACULOUSLY VEER AWAY FROM A DITCH. HAD I BEEN ON A HIGHWAY WHICH WAS A REAL POSSIBILITY THAT DAY, A SUDDEN SLOWING DOWN WOULD HAVE BEEN LIFE ENDING. I AM TAKING THE TIME TO MAKE THIS COMPLAINT TO HOPEFULLY PREVENT SOMEONE ELSE THAT MAY NOT HAVE THE SAME OUTCOME AS I DID. I WAS ABLE TO SLOWLY MAKE IT TO THE PARKING LOT WHILE HAVING ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE SUMMONED BY MY SON, WHO I HAD SURRENDIPITOUSLY DIAED BEFORE I HEARD THE "POP" UNDER THE CAR, WHICH I INITIALLY THOUGHT WAS FROM RUNNING OVER A ROCK. ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP, ITHE FOLLOWING DAY RECEIVED A VOICEMAIL RESPONSE TO MY INQUIRY THAT IT WAS DUE TO THE JULY 2017 PULEY RECALL THAT DOES IMPACT STEERING AND MAY LEAD TO A CRASH. SAD. CURRENT REMEDY IS AN OFFER FOR A RENTAL WITH REXPENSES COVERED WITH NO ETA OF THE RECALLED PART REPLACEMENT. I MUST SAY I AM EXTREMELY DISTRUSTFUL AT THIS TIME OF AN ADEQUATE RESOLUTION, TO THE POINT OF A TRADE IN REQUEST. I HAVE ALSO ASKED FOR THE MANAGER TO GET BACK TO ME. THANKS.
EMISSION LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY. BMW DIAGNOSED IT WAS A FAULTY DMTL PUMP (LEAK DIAGNOSIS PUMP). DEALER (BMW) DECLINED COVER UNDER EMISSION WARRANTY.
I WAS DRIVING MY CAR AT 35 MILES PER HOUR SUDDENLY THE CAR LOST POWER STEERING WHEEL LOCKED SO IT WAS HARD TO KEEP CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. I TRIED RESTARTING THE CAR BUT WITH NO RESULTS. A POLICEMAN HAD TO STAY BEHIND ME ALL THE TIME FOR OVER AN HOUR UNTIL A TOWING TRUCK CAME TO TOW THE CAR. BMW DIAGNOSTE THE CAR BEFORE WITH A FUEL RAIL REGULATOR. SO I WENT AND REPLACED THAT COMPONENT STILL THE CAR DID NOT WANT TO START!?. SO I TOWED IT TO BMW AFTER 4 DAYS OF DIAGNOSTICS THAT THEY SAID THE DIAGNOSTICS ITSELF IS $1900! THEY CAME TO A CONCLUSION THAT THE FUEL HIGH PRESSURE PUMP FAILED AND CONTAMINATED THE FUEL SYSTEM AND BROKE THE INJECTORS AND MESSED UP THE WHOLE FUEL SYSTEM. THEIR ESTIMATE TO REPLACE THE WHOLE IS OVER $11000! AND TO JUST REPLACE THE FAILED AND CLEAN UP THE FUEL SYSTEM IT WILL COST ME OVER $4000. THE CAR IS ONLY $75000 HOW WOULD A MAJOR FAILURE HAPPEN TO THAT COMPONENT. THERE WAS NO MISFUELING, THEY CHECKED THE DIESEL AND THEY SAID IT IS NOT GAS AND IT DOES NOT HAVE WATER EITHER. I HAVE READ WHERE OTHER PEOPLE COMPLAINING FROM THE SAME ISSUE FUEL HIGH PRESSURE PUMP FAILURE. IF I WERE ON A HIGHWAY AND SINCE THE CAR DID NOT GIVE ANY NOTICE OR MESSAGE I THINK I WOULD HAVE BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT SINCE THE CAR JUST SHUT DOWN WITH NO WARNING OR SIGN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 BMW X5. WHILE THE CONTACT'S WIFE WAS DRIVING 20 MPH, SHE TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT AND HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE. THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS LISTED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V336000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE IDLER PULLEY BOLT SHEARED OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 163,000.
"CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING. I OPENED VEHICLE SETTINGS FROM THE MENU TO DETERMINE WHAT THE LIGHT WAS FOR. ALL SYSTEMS INDICATED OK. NEAREST SERVICEMAN CHECKED FOR CODES: CODE 4873, EGR SYSTEM. ONLINE, EGR RECALLS IN US AND EUROPE, HOWEVER MY VEHICLE DOES NOT SHOW UP AS PART OF ANY OF THEM. CALLED BMW AND THEY SAY I AM ON MY OWN. I AM CONCERNED THAT I MAY HAVE THE SAME ISSUE THAT INVOLVES THE EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION MODULE WITH AN INTEGRATED COOLER. EGR COOLER FAILURE. EGR COOLER DEVELOPED, BOTH AN EXHAUST GAS LEAK AND CONTROL SPRING FAILURE. FAILURE WAS SEEN IN ENGINE CONTROL LIGHT AND LATER DIAGNOSED IN SECOND TRIP TO BMW DEALER. EXHAUST GAS LEAK IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT TO GREASE AIR SYSTEM IS PRIMARY ISSUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 BMW X5. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE BATTERY SENSOR INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE ENGINE MISFIRED. THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED ALONG WITH THE IGNITION COIL. LATER, WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, THE OIL AND ENGINE INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE ENGINE OIL LEVELS WERE VERY LOW AND OIL HAD TO BE CONTINUOUSLY ADDED TO THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE BATTERY FAILURES AND THE MESSAGE ON AND BATTERY HIGH DRAINAGE COMFORT ACCESS FEATURE MALFUNCTIONED. MY CAR HAS JUNE 2012 PRODUCTION, THE PCV HEATER VALVE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON AND OFF FROM LAST YEAR, I HAD REPLACED HVAC HEATER VALVE (WRONG DIAGNOSE FOR PART SPECIFIC FROM MY MECHANIC) BUT NOW I FIND OUT THERE IS A RECALL FOR IT, BUT NOT COVERING MY YEAR. THIS WEEKEND I WAS DRIVING MY BMW ON THE EXPRESSWAY AND HEAR A LOUD POP. WHEN I LOOKED UP MY SUNROOF EXPLODED AND SCATTERED INTO SMALL PIECES. THE TEMPERED GLASS IS DEFECTIVE AND BMW NEEDS TO BE RESPONSIBLE.

WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH ON FREEWAY CAR REFUSED TO ACCELERATE FASTER THAN 60 MPH, WARNING THAT ENGINE WAS OVERHEATING AND TO DRIVE MODERATELY WAS DISPLAYED. LOUD BLOWING FROM ENGINE COMPARTMENT IN 10 SECOND INTERVALS. WATER PUMP AND THERMOSTAT NEED TO BE REPLACED, BUT DEALER CLAIMS OUR VEHICLE ISN'T COVERED UNDER ANY OF THE 3 RECENTLY EXPANDED RECALLS AFFECTING OTHER 2012 X5 MODELS. ONLINE RESEARCH INDICATES THAT WATER PUMP FAILURES ARE CHRONIC WITH THIS MODEL AND "SOME" BMW REPAIR CENTERS ARE COVERING THE REPAIR AT 85% AS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE PART, BECAUSE OF THE INHERENT RISK OF FIRE.
MY BATTERY WAS WEAK AND THE TIME CAME TO CHANGE IT. I CHANGED THE BATTERY, THE CAR STARTS BEAUTIFULLY. HOWEVER I HAVE A LIGHT SYSTEM AND RESTRAINT SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONS. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ONLINE I HAVE LEARNED THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN THE X5 SERIES. THE VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 50,000 MILES ON IT AND I ONLY DRIVE IT ON THE WEEKENDS. THIS IS THE SECOND MAJOR MALFUNCTION THIS YEAR. THE WATER PUMP NEEDED REPLACEMENT IN FEBRUARY. I PURCHASED THIS CERTIFIED POS IN 2016 FROM THE MAMARONECK DEALERSHIP WITH 26000 ON THE VEHICLE. OH I FORGOT TO MENTION LESS THAN 6 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING THE CASE THERE WAS AN OIL LEAK IN THE ENGINE. I CAN'T WAIT TO FINISH PAYING FOR THIS CAR SO I CAN GO BACK TO THE MORE RELIABLE MERCEDES BENZ THAT I WAS ACCUSTOMED TO.
ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE WILL NOT RELEASE. UNABLE TO DISENGAGE PARKING BREAK EVEN MANUALLY. CAR IS PARKED IN A DRIVEWAY THAT HAS A STEEP HILL AND HEAVY CITY TRAFFIC AT END OF DRIVEWAY.

THE ENGINE STUTTERS OFTEN (EVERY DRIVE), AND ONCE IN A WHILE PRODUCES THICK WHITE SMOKE FOR A SECOND OR TWO WHEN ACCELERATING. THE ENGINE ALSO SUFFERS FROM HIGH OIL CONSUMPTION (I HAVE TO ADD A QUART OF ENGINE OIL EVERY 200 MILES). I'VE ALSO HAD TO REPLACE THE SPARK PLUGS TWICE IN THE LAST 3 YEARS BECAUSE THEY ARE FOULED WITH OIL AND SOOTH AND THE ENGINE MISFIRES. DEALER IS STATING THE ISSUE IS RELATED TO S63 ENGINE VALVE STEM SEALS, AND RECOMMENDING THAT THESE BE REPLACED, BUT THE WORK WILL COST $7000 AND ISN'T COVERED UNDER WARRANTY! ON AUGUST 7, 2018, I WAS TRAVELING ON INTERSTATE 95 IN MARYLAND (NORTH OF BALTIMORE) IN ROUTE TO NEW YORK STATE. DURING THE HIGHWAY DRIVE, MY BMW DRASTICALLY REDUCED SPEED TO 10 MILES PER HOUR AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. I HAD TO MOVE MY CAR TO A SAFE PLACE TO AVOID BEING HIT BY THE OTHER VEHICLES ON THE HIGHWAY. I COULD NOT CONTINUE TO DRIVE MY CAR. AND, I WAS WORRIED ABOUT MY SAFETY AND WAS AT RISK DUE TO THE BMW CAR ISSUE. I CALLED AAA AND MY CAR WAS TOWED TO PASSPORT BMW IN SUITLAND, MARYLAND FOR REPAIR. ON AUGUST 8TH, PASSPORT EVALUATED MY CAR AND DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM. I WAS INFORMED BY PASSPORT BMW THAT MY CAR ENGINE PROBLEM WAS DUE TO A FAULTY FUEL IGNITION SYSTEM WHICH HAD TO BE REPLACED. I APPROVED THIS OVER $570 REPAIR TO MY CAR. HOWEVER, WHEN I PICKED UP THE CAR, THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL ON. AGAIN, I WAS CONCERNED SINCE MY CAR WAS REPAIRED BY BMW YET THE PROBLEM HAD NOT BEEN FIXED SINCE THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL ON. I CONTACTED THE SERVICE ADVISOR TO INFORM HIM OF THE PROBLEM. HE APOLOGIZED AND REQUESTED THAT I BRING THE CAR BACK IN TO PASSPORT BMW ON THE NEXT DAY. THE NEXT DAY, I BROUGHT THE CAR IN TO PASSPORT BMW, I WAS INFORMED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER, AN ESTIMATED $3388 REPAIR, NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. MY CAR HAS BEEN IN FOR BMW SERVICE MAINTENANCE AND RECALL REPAIRS SEVERAL TIME. MY CAR WAS IN FOR MAINTENANCE SEVERAL TIMES AND WAS NOT ACCURATELY DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THERE IS NO INDICATION THAT THE REPAIR DIAGNOSED ON AUGUST 8TH FIXED THE PROBLEM THAT CAUSED MY CAR TO STOP RUNNING ON THE HIGHWAY ON AUGUST 7TH. I PAID FOR THAT REPAIR IN AUGUST AND IT DID NOT FIX THE CHECK ENGINE PROBLEM AND WANT TO BE REIMBURSED FOR THIS EXPENSE. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE NUMEROUS REPAIRS TO MY BMW DESPITE THE FACT THAT MY CAR HAS BEEN SERVICED BY THE PASSPORT BMW SERVICE DEPARTMENT.
PARKING BRAKE MALFUNCTION. I PARKED THE CAR OUTSIDE A STORE AND ENGAGED THE PARKING BRAKE, ON MY RETURN THE PARKING BRAKE COULD NOT BE DISENGAGED AND THE "PARKING BRAKE MALFUNCTION" SIGN SHOWED UP. ALL 4 TIRES GOT LOCKED UP AND I HAD TO GET THE SUV TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE FIX WAS TO REPLACE THE PARKING BRAKE ACTUATOR WHICH COSTED ME ABOUT $2000. IT WAS VERY STRESSFUL WHEN THE SUV GOT STUCK AS I HAD MY KID AND FAMILY WITH ME. SHOP HAD TO REPLACE THE PARKING BRAKE ACTUATOR AND I WAS TOLD THAT THEY HAVE SEEN THIS PROBLEM SHOW UP SO FREQUENTLY RECENTLY. THE PART SUPPLIER WHO SENT THE NEW PARKING BRAKE ACTUATOR MENTIONED THAT THEY USED TO SHIP UPTO 5 PIECES PER MONTH BUT NOW THEY ARE SHIPPING HUNDREDS PER MONTH. SO IT SEEMS THAT ITS A WIDE SPREAD PROBLEM, AND I WANT TO BRING THIS TO NHTSA'S ATTENTION SUCH THAT IT CAN BE INVESTIGATED AND CAN HELP OTHER DRIVERS WHO MAY FACE THIS PROBLEM IN FUTURE.
