SCHEDULED REPAIR WITH THE NEAREST BMW DEALER REPAIR SHOP IN ARLINGTON, TEXAS FOR SEVERAL MONTHS NOW, NO REPAIR HAS BEEN DONE. SCARE OF DRIVING VEHICLE, BECAUSE THE FRONT WHEELS VIBRATE WHEN DRIVING EVEN A MODERATE SPEED. I HAVE CALLED THE BMW REPAIR SHOP MULTIPLE TIMES, BUT NO RESPONSE TO REPAIR.

SCR CATALYTIC CONVERTER FAILURE AND NOX SENSOR FAILURE IN DIESEL EXHAUST SYSTEM ON A 54,1XX MILE VEHICLE -- MUCH TOO EARLY FOR THESE SYSTEMS TO FAIL . THE SYSTEM ALERTED ME OF A "EXHAUST FLUID INCORRECT" CEL WITH A 200 MIL COUNT DOWN TIMER. THIS COUNT DOWN TIME RENDERS THE VEHICLE IMMOBILE IF YOU DO NOT BRING IT INTO THE BMW DEALER WITHIN THIS MILEAGE. THIS COUNT DOWN TIMER COULD HAVE LEFT ME LITERALLY STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF NO WHERE IF I WERE TO TAKE THIS VEHICLE ON ANY ROAD TRIP OR EXTENDED TRAVEL. I BELIEVE IT IS ABSOLUTELY CRIMINAL THAT BMW CAN DISABLE YOUR VEHICLE ON AN EMISSION RELATED ISSUE POTENTIALLY LEAVING YOU STRANDED. YES, I WOULD HAVE (AND HAVE) BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN FOR REPAIR -- IMMOBILIZING THE VEHICLE IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS AND SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED AND IS VERY UNSAFE AND COULD HAVE CAUSED ME AND MY FAMILY HARM. I HAVE A 2 YEAR OLD AND A 3 MONTH OLD THAT COULD HAVE BEEN LEFT STRANDED. I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE WITH MY FAMILY NOW.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AUTOMASTER BMW (3328 SHELBURNE RD, SHELBURNE, VT 05482, (802) 985-8411) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE KNOCK SENSORS, CATALYTIC CONVERTER, AND COMPUTER MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 117,000.

TAKATA RECALL - DEALER HAS BEEN PUTTING ME OFF FOR AT LEAST 10 MONTHS FOR FRONT DRIVER AND PASSAGE SIDE AIRBAG REPLACEMENT.

TAKATA RECALL I STILL OWN MY CAR AND IT IS A GROUP 7 REPAIR THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO RECEIVE A FINAL REMEDY LETTER ON OR BEFORE JANUARY 2017. WE HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY SUCH NOTIFICATION AT THIS TIME. THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED AND BMW IS NOT COMPLYING WITH THE FEDERAL ORDER! WHAT CAN WE DO TO GET THIS REPAIR COMPLETED?
ENGINE LOSE POWER AT HIGHWAY SPEED DUE TO FUEL PUMP!! IT HAPPENED MORE THAN ONCE ON THE HIGHWAY AND CAR WON'T GO TO THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT. TURN CAR OFF AND RESTART AGAIN EVERYTHING WORKS FINE FOR FEW DAYS.
ENGINE MALFUNCTION LIGHT - CAR SUDDENLY LOSES SIGNIFICANT POWER. THIS CONTINUES TO BE AN ONGOING PROBLEM DESPITE WE HAVE SPENT OVER $10.000.00 AND FREQUENT SERVICING OF THE CAR. ON AT LEAST ONE OCASSION THE CAR LOSS TOTAL POWER AND WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN. MOST OF THE ENGINE HAS BEEN REBUILT BUT THE PROBLEM CONTINUES.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WITH A POSTED SPEED LIMIT OF 70 MPH WITH MY FAMILY ON A ROAD TRIP. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND SAID ENGINE IS OVERHEATTED AND POWER IS REDUCED. WHEN I TRIED TO PRESS DOWN ON THE GAS, THE CAR WOULD NOT GO FASTER. TRAFFIC WAS A BIT HEAVY AND I WAS GOING 70 MPH WITH TRAFFIC BEHIND ME. IT WAS NERVE WRECKING TO SLOW DOWN (BECAUSE THE CAR ISN'T PRODUCING ANY POWER BECAUSE THE ENGINE IS OVERHEATTED) DUE TO PHYSICS AND NEEDING TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF A BUSY HIGHWAY. WHEN I TOOK THE CAR TO THE MECHANIC, THEY TOLD ME THE WATER PUMP HAS FAILED. MY CAR ONLY HAS 55K MILES ON IT.
IN 2012 A RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR THIS CAR AND THE WORK WAS PERFORMED AT THE DEALER. ON 12/16/2016 THE STEERING FAILED WILE THE CAR WAS IN OPERATION. IT WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR ON THE SAME PART AS BEFORE. MY INVESTIGATION SHOWED THERE WERE MORE THAN ONE STEERING FAILURE IN THAT TIME PERIOD CONCERNING THE SAME MODEL, ENGINE AND EVERYTHING BUT A 2011 MODEL. I PAID OUT OF POCKET TO HAVE THE REPAIRS COMPLETED BECAUSE I NEED TRANSPORTATION, HOWEVER BMW IS CLAIMING THAT ONCE THE WORK IS COMPLETED AND AFTER TIME OF WARRANTY THEY ARE NO LONGER RESPONSIBLE. I FEEL THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN AND BMW WILL BILL CUSTOMERS FOR THE WORK EVEN IF THEY ARE REPLACING THE EQUIPMENT WITH FAULTY PARTS. I WAS FORTUNATE THAT I WASN'T DRIVING FAST AND THE WEATHER WAS NICE OR I COULD HAVE HAD A SERIOUS ACCIDENT WITH NO STEERING.. *TR
VEHICLE SHUDDERS AND MAKES LOUD NOISES WHILE TURNING. TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND FOUND OUT THAT THIS WAS A TRANSFER CASE FAILURE AND A RESULT OF BAD ENGINEERING IN GENERAL. THERE ARE SEVERAL OTHER SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON THIS WEBSITE AND ALSO ON OTHER MODEL YEARS OF THE SAME MODEL. THE TRANSFER CASE REPLACEMENT IS ESTIMATED TO COST $6500. OTHERS ONLINE HAVE REPORTED TRANSFER CASES FALLING OFF WHILE DRIVING! THIS ENTAILS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY RISK AND ONE THAT THE MANUFACTURER APPEARS TO BE AWARE OF. BMW NEEDS TO REPAIR THIS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE TO AVOID FURTHER ENDANGERING CUSTOMERS' LIVES. *TR
MAKING A SHARP TURN RESULT IN VIBRATION
THE EGR COOLER WAS DISCOVERED TO BE LEAKING HARMFUL EXHAUST UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THIS HARMFUL EXHAUST COULD EVENTUALLY BE BREATHED IN WHILE THE ENGINE IS RUNNING AND THE VEHICLE REMAINS PARKED TO RUN THE AIR CONDITIONER. BASED ON THE MILEAGE OF MY VEHICLE WHICH IS AT 75,000 MILES, THE PART IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE EMISSIONS WARRANTY. THE ODD PART HERE IS THAT MY VEHICLE RECEIVED A FULL INSPECTION AT 60,000 MILES AND THERE WAS NO SIGN OF ANY EXHAUST LEAK AT THIS TIME. ALL THAT THE VEHICLE IS USED FOR IS TO GET GROCERIES AND BRING THE KIDS BACK AND FORTH TO SCHOOL. RIGHT NOW I AM IN A BAD POSITION WHERE THE COST TO REPLACE THE EGR COOLER IS NEARLY $2,000. IF AN INSPECTION WAS PERFORMED JUST PRIOR TO 70,000 MILES THEN THIS PART WOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER THE EMISSIONS WARRANTY BECAUSE I LIVE IN CALIFORNIA.
BOUGHT IT USED 58K MILES , ON FIRST DAY THE BATTERY DIED, TOOK IT TO BMW DEALER, LABOR+PARTS+PROGRAMMING $475! ONLY AFTER 4YRS THE BATTERY FAILED ? AFTER 2 MONTHS ENGINE OVERHEATING, TOWED THE CAR TO THE DEALER, WATER BUMP +THERMOSTAT +FLUSHING COOLANT AND A FEW MORE FLUSHING ALL TRANS, ETC PLUS ALIMENT, $1800 FOR WATER BUMP AND THERMOSTAT+ THE OTHER THINGS ALL TOGETHER CAME UP TO $2500 AFTER$300 DISCOUNT, WE WENT TO PICKUP THE CAR ASKED FOR DISCOUNT AND GOT THE BILL DOWN TO $1978. VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED ABOUT THE QUALITY OF BMW AND ELECTRIC WATER PUMP THAT FAILS AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED ON ALMOST EVERY BMW ONLY AFTER LIKE 30K AND UP? UNLIKE OTHER CARS WATER PUMP WILL FAIL AFTER 150K-200K MILES.
I HAVE A 2012 BMW X5 WITH ABOUT 70K MILES ON IT. ABOUT 12-18 MONTHS AGO, I STARTED NOTICING ISSUES WITH SHUDDER/SHAKE WHEN TURNING AT LOW SPEEDS. I MENTIONED IT TO BMW SERVICE BUT THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY DON'T SEE ANY ISSUES. ABOUT 4-5 MONTHS BACK WHEN I COMPLAINED AGAIN, THIS TIME THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE. THE ISSUE IS WITH THE TRANSFER CASE. THEY SAID IT'S A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR AND TOLD ME THE ORIGINAL PARTS+LABOR RUNS AT OVER $7,000 BUT I CAN GET A REFURBISHED PART AT AROUND $3,200. FOR A VEHICLE LIKE BMW, I DIDN'T EXPECT IT TO HAVE SUCH MAJOR ISSUES SOON AFTER THE WARRANTY ENDED. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND I SEE SO MANY INDIVIDUALS REPORTING THE EXACT SAME ISSUES WITH BMW X5 IN THAT TIME RANGE. I HOPE BMW WILL ACCEPT THE PROBLEM AND ISSUE A SAFETY RECALL FOR IT SO WE, THE CUSTOMERS, DON'T HAVE TO PAY FOR SUCH A MAJOR ISSUE WITH THE CAR. AFTER THIS EXPERIENCE, I HAVE DECIDED NOT TO BUY ANYMORE BMWS AND HAVE BEEN RECOMMENDING THE SAME TO OTHERS.
ONE WEEK AGO, COOLING FAN MADE HIGH SPEED NOISE. IT KEPT WENT ON AND OFF. ONE WEEK LATER, "ENGINE HOT" SIGN TURNED ON WHILE I'M DRIVING ON HIGHWAY. I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND TURNED ON 20 MINUTES LATER. AFTER I TURNED ON, ENGINE OIL LEVEL SHOWS UP EMPTY, 0. WE CHANGED ENGINE OIL WHEN 45,000 MILES AND CURRENT IS 50,000 MILES.
2012 BMW X5. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VARIOUS SAFETY RECALL NOTICES RECEIVED FOR VEHICLE. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE ENGINE MALFUNCTIONED AND REQUIRED A SOFTWARE UPDATE. THE VEHICLE'S AIR SPRINGS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE COOLANT TANK CRACKED CAUSING COOLANT TO LEAK FROM THE VEHICLE. THE OIL GASKET WAS LEAKING AND NEEDED TO REPLACED. *JS
THE FUEL PUMP SUDDENLY FAILED WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 75 MPH (LEGAL SPEED LIMIT) WITH NO WARNING AND CAUSED A STALL CONDITION. I NOTICED THEY (BMW) HAVE A NEW RECALL FOR UP TO THE 2011 MODEL YEAR BUT THEY NEED TO INCLUDE THE 2012 AS WELL. *TR
HAVE EXPERIENCED VIBRATION ON THE STEERING COLUMN, WHILE MAKING SHARP TURNS AT VERY LOW SPEEDS. THE BMW DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AND CONFIRMED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD A BAD TRANSFER CASE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE COST TO REPLACE THE TRANSFER CASE WAS $7500.
VEHICLE MILEAGE 56,341MI. VEHICLE ENGINE WOULD CRANK BUT NOT START AFTER COMING OUT OF BUSINESS WHILE RUNNING ERRANDS. DASH WARNING MESSAGE "ENGINE MALFUNCTION" WAS PRESENT. CODES READ VIA GENERIC OBD2 DEVICE WERE P10E4, P10F5,P10E5,B2AAA. THESE CODES ARE RELATED TO THE VALVETRONIC SYSTEM IN THE ENGINE. CHECKED RELATED FUSES AND NO PROBLEM. HAD TO GET VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALER. DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE VALVETRONIC SYSTEM ERROR. VEHICLE WAS FIRST REPROGRAMMED AND ISSUE REMAINED. VALVETRONIC SYSTEM WAS REPLACED DUE TO DTCS THAT LED THEM TO BELIEVE ECCENTRIC SHAFT WAS STUCK. TALKING WITH THE TECHNICIAN THE ECCENTRIC SHAFT WAS NOT STUCK AND HE ASSUMED THE ACTUATOR\ MOTOR HAD FAILED. PER BMW INSTRUCTIONS THE ENTIRE SYSTEM WAS REPLACED THOUGH. TECHNICIAN STATED THAT HE HAS DONE MANY REPLACEMENTS OF VALVETRONIC SYSTEMS AND THE PARTS WERE ALREADY IN STOCK WHICH RAISED A FLAG TO ME. THE ENGINE WAS REASSEMBLED AND THE ENGINE WOULD STILL NOT START. THERE WERE FAULTS LEFT IN THE ENGINE CONTROL UNIT. APPARENTLY THE ENGINE CONTROL UNIT WAS DAMAGED BY ACTUATOR\ MOTOR THAT WAS DRAWING HIGH CURRENT.(CONFIRMED BY BMW SERVICE ENGINEER) ENGINE CONTROL UNIT WAS REPLACED AND REPROGRAMMED AND ENGINE IS NOW REPORTED TO BE IN OPERATIONAL CONDITION. BMW AND DEALER HAS DISCOUNTED THE SERVICE AND PROVIDED A LOANER VEHICLE BUT BASED ON INFORMATION FROM THE TECHNICIAN THIS ENTIRE REPAIR COULD POSSIBLY BE A RECALLABLE ITEM AS IT CAN LEAVE THE END USER STRANDED AND WITH A HEALTHY REPAIR BILL WITH A VEHICLE THAT IS NOT TOO FAR OUT OF WARRANTY. REPAIR BILL HAS BEEN UPLOADED.

2012 BMW X5 WHICH WAS PURCHASED AS CERTIFIED ON DECEMBER 31,2015.. PUT MY LIFE AND THE LIFE OF MY YOUNG SON IN DANGER AND SHOULD IMMEDIATELY BE INVESTIGATED AND A "FIX' NEEDS TO BE DEVELOPED BEFORE LIFE THREATENING INJURY OCCURS TO SOMEBODY ELSE. I RECEIVED THIS MESSAGE (SEE ATTACHED) IN MY X5 WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT ON A HIGHWAY I-90 (60 MPH) ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF CHICAGO, IL. WE HAD BEEN DRIVING FOR 1 1/2 HOURS AND THE TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE WAS A COLD 35 DEGREES. IN ADDITION TO GETTING THIS MESSAGE, MY CAR STOPPED RESPONDING TO MY ACCELERATION ATTEMPTS AND ABRUPTLY STARTED SLOWING DOWN WITHOUT ANY BRAKES LIGHTS. I HAD TRUCKS BEHIND ME THAT DID NOT KNOW I WAS SLOWING DOWN TO BELOW THE SPEED LIMIT. THESE TRUCKS WERE BEHIND ME AND COULD NOT STOP THAT QUICKLY AND OUR SAFETY WAS IN DANGER AS THEY WERE LIKELY TO REAR END MY CAR. ALSO, MY CAR CONTINUED TO SLOW DOWN TO 40 MPH WHEN THE ROAD WENT UPHILL. I HAD BEEN IN THE CENTER LANE WHEN I GOT THE WARNING SO I HAD TO MANEUVER TO THE RIGHT LANE WHERE TRAFFIC WAS GOING TO THE POSTED 55-60 MPH SPEED LIMIT. I WAS THEN ABLE TO EXIT THE HIGHWAY. I WAS WITH MY YOUNG CHILD IN A BROKEN DOWN BMW X5. I FELT LIKE A SITTING DUCK. THE BMW DEALER NOW INFORMED ME THAT THE ELECTRIC WATER PUMP HAD STOPPED WORKING AND THE MOTOR GOT TOO HOT AND SHUT ITSELF OFF, ESSENTIALLY SHUTTING OFF MY CAR. MY SON AND I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. IT IS INCREDIBLY UNSAFE FOR THE MOTOR TO JUST SHUT DOWN IN A LOCATION WHERE I COULD NOT SAFELY EXIT THE FREEWAY. THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED APRIL 9, 2016 AND I HAD JUST PURCHASED THE CERTIIFED VEHICLE ON DECEMBER 31, 2015 SO I HAD ONLY OWNED IT FOR 3 MONTHS. THE CAR ONLY HAD 24,000 MILES.
