2000 BUICK REGAL. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE VALVE COVER GASKET RECALL NOTICE REPAIRS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED HE/SHE PAID TO HAVE THE VALVE COVER GASKETS REPLACED TWICE. THE FIRST TIME WAS ON DECEMBER 13,2011 AND THE SECOND TIME WAS MARCH 25, 2013 PRIOR TO RECEIVING THE RECALL NOTICE DATED DECEMBER 2015. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 BUICK REGAL. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH HE NOTICED SMOKE RELEASING FROM THE VENTS. WITHIN A FEW MINUTES AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE HOOD WAS ON FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACTS HOME. THE VIN INFORMATION WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT DID NOT MENTION IF A FIRE OR POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILES WERE 180,000.
THERE ARE MULTIPLE PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE. ONE OF MY MAIN COMPLAINTS IS THE STEERING WHEEL IS BECOMING VERY WARM TO THE TOUCH. NEXT, THE KEY GETS STUCK IN THE SWITCH AND WILL NOT COME OUT, CAUSING THE BATTERY TO RUN DOWN. ALSO, THE SIGNAL LIGHTS HAVE GONE OUT AND ARE NOT REPAIRABLE AND THE ELECTRICAL WINDOWS HAVE GONE OUT DUE TO RUSTING AND ARE NOT REPAIRABLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 BUICK REGAL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE WAS PROVIDING INACCURATE FUEL LEVEL READINGS. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT DID NOT ASSIST THE CONTACT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 153,000.
I HAD SAME PROBLEM WITH CAR STALLING AND WAITING 15 MINUTES OR SO AND IT WOULD START, WE CHANGED THE CRANK POSITION SENSOR AND NO PROBLEMS AS OF YET. *TR
MY 2000 BUICK REGAL 3.2L V6 LS STALLS WHILE I AM DRIVING. THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF WHILE ALL THE OTHER ELECTRIC SERVICES (LIGHTS,RADIO AND AIR CONDITIONING,ETC.) CONTINUE TO OPERATE. I WAS NOT EVEN AWARE OF THE SITUATION UNTIL I TRIED TO ACCELERATE. THIS HAS HAPPENED FIVE TIMES OVER THE LAST MONTH. THE CAR WILL RESTART AFTER ABOUT 15 MINUTES(WHICH LEADS ME TO THE CONCLUSION OF A COMPUTER MALFUNCTION ALTHOUGH NO ERROR CODE OCCURS). I HAVE FOUND THIS HAS OCCURRED TO OTHERS ON THE SAME VEHICLE BY SEARCHING THE INTERNET (WWW.CARCOMPLAINTS.COM). THE DEALERSHIP SHOWS NO ERROR CODES IN THE COMPUTER ANALYSIS, BUT THE VEHICLE IS TRULY UNDEPENDABLE AND A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
MY 2000 BUICK REGAL DOES GREAT IN WINTER, NOW IN SUMMER, IT WILL JUST DIE GOING DOWN THE ROAD. SOMETIMES YOU CAN GO TO THE STORE GO IN AN COME OUT 30 MINUTES LATER OR AN HOUR AND IT WONT START, KINDA SOUNDS LIKE ITS OUT OF GAS BUT ITS NOT. IT TURNS OVER BUT WONT START AND THEN IF YOU WAIT LONG ENOUGH IT WILL START RIGHT UP????? I HAVE HAD THE FUEL PUMP CHECKED IT IS FINE. IT DOES HAVE A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AND THE CODE READS SECONDARY AIR MALFUNCTION...??? NAY SUGGESTIONS? TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2000 BUICK REGAL. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, SMOKE AND FLAMES APPEARED IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DEEMED DESTROYED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 115,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 BUICK REGAL. WHILE SITTING IDLE IN THE VEHICLE WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING, THE REAR VALVE COVER LEAKED AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO CATCH ON FIRE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE BY THROWING SAND ON THE ENGINE. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED HE OBSERVED SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD SEVERAL TIMES BUT WAS NOT AWARE OF A POSSIBLE FIRE. THE DEALER ADVISED REPAIRS COULD BE MADE TO THE VEHICLE AT THE CONTACTS EXPENSE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 BUICK REGAL. THE CONTACT STARTED UP THE VEHICLE AND HEARD A LOUD BANG. SUDDENLY, FIRE ERUPTED UNDER THE HOOD UNTIL IT WAS PUT OUT WITH AN EXTINGUISHER. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 75,000.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRE ON A 2000 BUCK REGAL 3.8L ENGINE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 BUICK REGAL GS. THE VEHICLES ENGINE CAUGHT FIRE ON OCTOBER 25, 2009 WHILE IT WAS PARKED. SHE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE VALVE COVER GASKET; YET, WHEN SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER THEY STATED THAT THERE MIGHT BE A RISK IN REPAIRING THE RECALL AND THAT ANOTHER PART COULD BREAK. THEY ALSO QUOTED HER $500.00 TO REPAIR THE RECALL; THEREFORE, SHE DID NOT HAVE THE REPAIR DONE. REPORT# 681666 WAS FILED WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WOULD SEND SOMEONE TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THE INSURANCE COMPANY DECLARED THE VEHICLE DESTROYED. THE OHIO FIRE DEPT REPORT INFORMATION WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL GARAGE. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 90,000.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND TURNED MY BLINKER ON TO PASS A VEHICLE WHEN THE CAR SHUT THE POWER OFF AND ON TO THE GAS.WHILE I DID THAT THE ALL THE LIGHTS ON MY DASH WERE BLINKING WHEN I TURNED BACK IN TO THE OTHER LANE I HAD TURNED MY BLINKER BACK ON. STARTED DOING IT AGAIN. I GOT TO AN EXIT TO TURN AROUND TO GO HOME SO I TURNED MY BLINKER BACK ON AND THE CAR SHUT DOWN ON MY WHILE I WAS TURNING A SHARPE CORNER. SO I HAD NO POWER STEERING. I STARTED IT BACK UP BUT WHEN I GOT DOWN THE ROAD I HAD TO TURN AGAIN SO I TURNED MY BLINKER ON AND IT HAD DID IT AGAIN. I NOTICED I HAD TO TURN MY HAZARDS ON TO GET HOME, AND WHEN I DID THAT THEY LIGHTS DIDN'T BLINK ON THE DASH. I MADE IT HOME AND CHECKED ALL THE FUSES BUT THAT WASN'T THE PROBLEM. I CAN'T START MY CAR NOW AND THE LIGHTS STILL BLINK ON THE DASH EVEN WHEN THE KEY IS JUST ON THE ON POSITION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 BUICK REGAL. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE AT 70 MPH THE SPEED WOULD NOT INCREASED. NEXT THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO LOOSE POWER.. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN INSPECTED BY A DEALER. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 130000. UPDATED 12/07/09 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN SHE TURNED ON HER TURN SIGNAL TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE, ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH STARTED FLASHING AND THE VEHICLE STARTED TO LOOSE POWER. THE CONSUMER GOT OFF AT THE NEXT EXIT AND WHEN SHE MADE A TURN, THE VEHICLE CUT OFF. ALSO EVERY MONTH THE LOW PRESSURE TIRE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. ONE OF THE TIRES WAS EXTREMELY LOW. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE REASON THE TIRE WAS LOOSING AIR WAS BECAUSE OF THE RIMS. UPDATED 12/09/09.
9/12/09 DIES AND WILL NOT RESTART. 9/14/09 PARTS THAT NEEDED REPLACED ARE STARTER AND BATTERY. PROBLEM IS STILL THERE. CAR WILL ONLY TURN OVER (RUN) WHEN THE HEAD LIGHTS ARE ON (NOT IN THE AUTO MODE) AND IF TURNED OFF THE CAR DIES AND EVERY LIGHT ON DASH IS ELIMINATED AND FLASHING. THEN WHEN BLINKERS ARE USED WHILE DRIVING THE MOTOR DIES. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME THE CAR IS DRIVEN (AFTER 9/14/09). ON BLOGS OTHER OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM AND REPLACED IGNITION SWITCH. *TR
2000 BUICK REGAL LX. ODOMETER DIMMED INTERMITTENTLY, BUT NOW IS COMPLETELY DARK. GAS GAUGE "BOUNCES" AROUND MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH FUEL REMAINS. OUT OF FUEL CONDITION IN INTERSECTION POSED A SAFETY HAZARD THREE TIMES. *TR

MULTIPLE SENSORS COME ON (AIRBAG, ETC) AND DON'T GO OFF. AND ALL ITEMS IN DASH HAVE GONE OUT (OCCASIONALLY FLICKERS BACK ON). *TR

CONSUMER IS REQUESTING REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE REPAIR WORK PERFORMED ON HER 2000 BUICK REGAL - SAFETY RECALL 09047. *NJ THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL LETTER IN THE MAIL. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR THE RECALL ON MAY 18, 2009. ON MAY 27, 2009 THE VEHICLE STALLED AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. THE VEHICLE STARTED UP AGAIN AFTER A 5 MINUTE REST. THE NEXT DAY, THE VEHICLE STALLED 4 SEPARATE TIMES WHILE DRIVING, THE LAST STALL TOOK A WAIT OF 20 MINUTES. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK SINCE THE VEHICLE STARTED STALLING AFTER THE SAFETY RECALL WAS PERFORMED. THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD A NEW IGNITION SWITCH WAS NEEDED, BUT DECLINED THE REPAIRS. THE CONSUMER WENT TO HER PERSONAL MECHANIC TO HAVE THE VEHICLE INSPECTED. THE MECHANIC STATED THE ENGINE WIRING AND IGNITION WERE ALL OK. THE MECHANIC DID FIND 2 PLUG WIRE SEPARATORS ON THE FRONT OF THE ENGINE AND SPARK PLUG WIRES WERE ROUTED WRONG, HE ALSO FOUND THE BATTERY WAS INSTALLED ON ELECTRICAL WIRES LEADING TO THE FUSE PANEL. THE MECHANIC EXPLAINED TO THE CONSUMER THAT THE SPARK PLUG CAPS WERE REPLACED AND RE-ROUTED INCORRECTLY, AND THE SPARK PLUG SEPARATOR WIRES WERE ALL MIXED UP, WHICH CAUSED THE SPARK PLUGS TO MISFIRE RESULTING IN THE VEHICLE STALLING. THE CONSUMER IS REQUESTING REIMBURSEMENT ON THE GROUNDS THAT THE MECHANIC SHOULD HAVE BEEN MORE CAREFUL AND DID THE REPLACEMENT CORRECTLY WHEN PERFORMING THE RECALL. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 BUICK REGAL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE KEY WOULD REMAIN STUCK IN THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 BUICK REGAL. IN APRIL OF 2009, THE CONTACT NOTICED OIL LEAKS IN HER VEHICLE AND SMELLED A BURNING ODOR. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC, WHO STATED THAT THE VALVE COVER GASKET NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IN MAY OF 2009, SHE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 09V116000. THE CONTACT FELT THAT THE SPARK PLUG REMEDY WOULD BE INSUFFICIENT BECAUSE THE OIL COULD STILL LEAK ONTO ANOTHER COMPONENT AND CAUSE A FIRE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR THE RECALL REPAIR; HOWEVER, AN APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 110,023 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 107,000.
MY CAR IS OVERHEATING AND LEAKING EXCESSIVE DEXCOOL FROM THE INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKETS AND COOLANT ELBOW. WESTLUND BUICK GMC, BUICK, PONTIAC IN SEATTLE, WA HAS DIAGNOSED THE INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKETS AND THE COOLANT ELBOW HAVE GONE BAD. A CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE AT BUICK CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS INFORMED ME THAT THERE IS A VIN SPECIFIC RECALL ON THIS ISSUE. BUICK CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS VERIFIED MY VIN IS NOT PART OF THAT RECALL BUT I FEEL THAT MY VEHICLE SHOULD BE INCLUDED SINCE IT IS THE SAME MAKE, MODEL, AND YEAR OF OTHER VEHICLES INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. *TR
2000 BUICK REGAL STALLS WHILE DRIVING MY 2000 BUICK REGAL HAS DIED MULTIPLE TIMES IN THE LAST WEEK AS I WAS DRIVING. THE ENGINE QUITS IN AS LITTLE AS FIVE MINUTES, BUT MIGHT TAKE LONGER, AND ALWAYS HAPPENS AS I AM DECELERATING (FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR, APPLYING BRAKE). CRANKING CAUSES THE ENGINE TO FIRE, BUT NOT ENOUGH TO KEEP RUNNING. IT MIGHT TAKE UP TO TWENTY TRIES TO GET IT RUNNING AGAIN. EN ROUTE TO MY MECHANIC, DRIVING SLOWLY AND GENTLY, THE CAR WOULD NOT STALL. THE MECHANIC ROAD TESTED THE CAR, AND MADE IT STALL. INITIALLY, ERROR CODES P0300, P0463, P1096, P0103 AND P0128 WERE READ. THE OLDER BATTERY WAS REPLACED AND THE POSITIVE CABLE SERVICED. THE ECM WAS REPROGRAMMED (COST: $100!), AND THE REGAL RAN WELL FOR A DAY. SHORTLY THEREAFTER, IT BEGAN DYING AS BEFORE, AND WAS RETURNED TO THE SHOP. SINCE THEN, IT HAS BEEN IN HIS SHOP FOR FOUR DAYS, ENGINE IDLING WITH TEST EQUIPMENT ATTACHED. WHEN IT DIES, IT STARTS UP IMMEDIATELY, AND NO ERROR CODES ARE PRESENT. HE IS AT A LOSS. *TR
I BEEN HAVING PROBLEM WITH MY 2000 BUICK REGAL SHORTLY AFTER IT WAS BOUGHT I BEEN TAKING IT THE DEALER'S AND PAYING A LOT OF MONEY FOR EVERYTHING NEEDED I HAVE OUT OVER 9000 DOLLARS INTO THE S HR I RECENTLY NOTICE THAT IT IS A CAR THAT HAS BEEN RECALLED AFTER CAREFULLY READING SOME OF THE PROBLEM EXPLAINED WHAT IS GOING ON AND WHY AM HAVING SO MANY PROBLEM HAD I KNOWN THEN I WOULDN'T BE OUT OF SO MUCH MONEY OVER THE YEARS I HAD ALL THE PROBLEMS LISTED ON THE RECALL LISTCOOLING ENGINE STEERING KNUCKLE IS HAPPENING NOW AM HAVING TO REPLACEMENT OF STEERING PART I'VE HAD TWO ACCIDENT NOT KNOWING IF ANY ONE OF THE PROBLEMS CAUSED I AM NOW AFRAID TO DRIVE MY CAR I HAVEBTEC. *TR
MY SON WAS DRIVING WHEN HE NOTICED SMOKE FROM UNDER THE HOOD. HE PULLED OVER AND FLAMES ENGULFED THE FRONT OF THE CAR . IT WAS A TOTAL LOSS. AL HIS BELONGINGS WERE INSIDE AS HE WAS MOVING TO COLLEGE. I RECEIVED A RECALL FOR THIS MATTER IN THE MAIL. VIN # AND REASON MATCHES MY CAR. I HAD LIABILITY INSURANCE ONLY SO I LOST EVERYTHING. I HAD TO PAY FOR THE PARKING LOT DAMAGE ALSO. MY SON WAS NOT INJURED THANKS TO HIS QUICK THINKING AND GOD. I PAID $3000.00 FOR THE CAR. WE STILL TRUST G.M. BUT WOULD LIKE THEM TO ADDRESS THIS MATTER WITH ME. THANK YOU, *TR
2000 BUICK REGAL WITH 50,000 MILES. BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE USED IN 2007. ALL 4 WINDOW REGULATORS BROKE AND HAD TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF ALMOST 1600$ CANADIAN. AFTER MUCH RESEARCH I FIND THAT THIS IS A RECURRING PROBLEM ON BUICKS.. THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED BY GM AT THERE EXPENSE. *TR
THE WINDOW REGULATORS ON MY 2000 BUICK REGAL HAVE FAILED. THE DRIVER-SIDE WINDOW AND THE REAR DRIVER SIDE WINDOW HAVE BOTH BROKEN, WITH THE WINDOW FALLING INTO THE DOOR AND THE REGULATOR NOT WORKING. *TR
THIS IS IN REGARDS TO: NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: EA07008 THE RECALL REPLACES ONE OF THE VALVE COVER GASKETS. I TALKED WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER AT MY GM DEALER AND HE SEES NO REASON WHY ONE SIDE IS DIFFERENT THAN THE OTHER. THE RECALL REFERENCES VALVE COVER GASKETS AND HOT EXHAUST SYSTEM COMPONENTS WHICH ARE ON BOTH SIDES OF THE ENGINE. AFTER BEING TOLD THAT THIS MAY CAUSE A FIRE MOST PEOPLE ARE GOING TO FEEL COMPELLED TO REPLACE BOTH SIDE AND WIND UP SPENDING APPROXIMATELY $250. IF THERE IS NO RISK ON THE GASKET COVERING CYLINDERS 2-4-6, THE RECALL AS WELL AS GM SHOULD STATE THAT, OTHERWISE THEY SHOULD REPLACE BOTH. *TR

I AM VERY UPSET WITH MY 2000 BUICK LESABRE. TODAY, THE WINDOW ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WENT DOWN AND WOULD NOT COME BACK UP. THIS IS THE 6TH, YES 6TH WINDOW THAT HAS BROKEN ON THIS VEHICLE. THE FIRST 2 WERE COVERED UNDER THE WARRANT. THE LAST 3 WERE NOT, WE HAD TO PAY FOR THEM TO BE REPLACED. NOW, IT HAS OCCURRED AGAIN. MY HUSBAND WENT BY THE DEALER TODAY TO SEE HOW MUCH JUST THE PART WOULD COST TO SEE IF HE DID IT HIMSELF WE COULD SAVE MONEY. THEY WANT $384 FOR JUST THE PART, THE LABOR WASN'T INCLUDED. WE CALLED AUTOZONE AND NAPA TO SEE HOW MUCH THEY CHARGE, WHICH IS MUCH LESS. ANY WHERE BETWEEN $130 - $180. I CONTACTED BUICK DIRECTLY WHEN THIS FIRST START OCCURRING AND THEY WERE NOT SUPPORTIVE AT ALL. THE REALLY DON'T CARE. SINCE THE FIRST COUPLE WERE COVERED. THEY TOLD ME THAT I SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. EVEN SINCE THE 3RD WAS RIGHT AFTER MY 3YRS WAS UP. I HAVE DONE ALOT OF SEARCHING ON THE WEB AND FOUND A WEBSITE WITH OVER 100 PEOPLE WHO HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS. GM NEEDS TO OWN UP TO THIS DEFAULT "POWER WINDOW REGULATOR" AND RECALL THESE CARS FOR A PART THAT WORKS AS IT SHOULD. AFTER DRIVING BETWEEN EVENTS, THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED ON A SLIGHT DOWNHILL ANGLE, IGNITION TURNED OFF AND LEFT. WITHIN APPROXIMATELY TEN MINUTES OF THE IGNITION BEING TURNED OFF, A FIRE STARTED WITHIN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT OF THE 2000 BUICK REGAL GS SUPERCHARGED. ABOUT FOUR DAYS AGO CHECK ENGINE CHECK LIGHT AND OIL LIGHT CAME ON. I CHECKED THE OIL WHICH WAS FINE AND PLANNED ON TAKING TO THE GARAGE THIS WEEK. AS I WAS DRIVING TO WORK AT APPROXIMATELY 3:00 PM ON MAY 21, 2007 I MADE A LEFT HAND TURN FROM US 1 ONTO SOUTHAMPTON ROAD. AS I ACCELERATED THE CAR THE ENGINE ACCELERATED TO FULL SPEED. I IMMEDIATELY PRESSED THE BRAKE , BUT THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO SPEED UP. I PUT THE TRANSMISSION INTO NEUTRAL AND THE RPMS RED LINED ABOVE 7000 RPMS. I SHUT OFF THE CAR AND ATTEMPTED TO RESTART IT AND IT STARTED NORMALLY, BUT AS SOON AS I ACCELERATED, IT REPEATED WITH THE SAME UNINTENTIONAL ACCELERATION. FOTUNATELY THERE WERE NO CARS IN FRONT OF ME OR I WOULD CERTAINLY HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. *AK

I HAVE OWNED A 2000 BUICK REGAL SINCE 2001. A FEW MONTHS AGO, THE DRIVER'S SIDE ELECTRIC WINDOW STARTING OPERATING ERRATICALLY - SOMETIMES IT WOULD NOT WORK AT ALL; OTHER TIMES IT WOULD. MY MECHANIC LOOKED AT IT BUT IT WORKED FINE FOR HIM. LAST WEEK, IT SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING AND MADE A GRINDING NOISE, CAUSING DIFFICULTY IN EVERY DAY USAGE, SUCH AS PULLING UP TO MAILBOX TO GET MAIL. MY MECHANIC STATED THE PART ALONE WILL COST OVER $300 DOLLARS. I HAVE RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND THIS IS A ROUTINE PROBLEM IN BUICKS DUE TO POOR DESIGN - A PLASTIC PIECE (INVOLVING REGULATOR?) THAT FAILS TOO EASILY. REAR SUSPENSION, TRAILING ARMS USED TO KEEP REAR AXLE IN ALIGNMENT FAILED, THE VEHICLE WAS BECOMING UNSTABLE ON THE HIGHWAY AND HAD DEVELOPED A CLUNK DURING STOP/STARTS. WHEN I CHECKED UNDER THE CAR, THE TRAILING ARM HAD SEPARATED FROM THE BODY MOUNT. I IMAGINE UNDER HARD BRAKING THE AXLE MAY WRAP UP. *JB
