I DROVE MY CAR TO WORK THEN HOME. AFTER BEING HOME FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES SOMEONE WAS BEATING ON MY DOOR TELLING ME MY CAR WAS ON FIRE. I OWNED A 2000 BUICK REGAL. THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT CAUGHT FIRE. IT WAS A TOTAL LOSS. *TR
CAR ENGINE DIES WHEN USING LEFT OR RIGHT TURN SIGNAL! UPON ATTEMPTING TO RESTART ENGINE... BATTERY POWER SURGES STARTER, DASH INDICATOR LAMPS, RADIO, A/C, IN PULSES ALMOST KEEPING SPEED WITH THE PULSES OF CARS EMERGENCY FLASHERS! *JB WIFE WAS ALMOST HIT BY ON COMING EIGHTEEN WHEELER WHEN SHE ATTEMPTED TO CROSS AN INTERSECTION AND MAKE A LEFT TURN! CAR WILL NOT RESTART UNLESS EMERGENCY FLASHERS OR HEADLAMPS ARE MANUALLY TURNED ON! OF COURSE BY THE TIME THIS WILL BE FIGURED OUT BY MOST.... THEY WILL HAVE ALREADY BEEN RUN OVER BY THEIR EIGHTEEN WHEELER!
ELECTRIC WINDOW MOTORS FAIL LEAVING OPEN WINDOWS IN VEHICLE DUE TO FAULTY GENERAL MOTORS DESIGN. UPON EXAMINATION I FOUND THAT THE STEEL CABLES THAT HOLD THE ELECTRIC WINDOWS IN MY 2000 BUICK REGAL ARE UNDER GREAT TENSION AND THEY SELF DESTRUCT DUE TO THE PLASTIC GUIDES FALLING APART. IF THE CABLE IS NOT IN TENSION THE MOTOR WILL NOT WORK AND THE WINDOW FALLS OPEN INTO THE CAR DOOR. NEW MOTOR REGULATOR ASSEMBLY COSTS $400 FOR EACH WINDOW AND THE DEALERS WANT $400 LABOR TO REPLACE EACH WINDOW. I TIED THE CABLES WITH ROPE TO GET THE WINDOWS TO SHUT WITH THE MOTOR AND THEN FORCED THE WINDOW TO STAY SHUT WITH A WOOD BRACE IN THE DOOR. AFTER PAYING FOR A NEW VEHICLE AND A VEHICLE EXTENDED WARRANTY FROM GM I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO KEEP PAYING $800 PER ELECTRIC WINDOW FOR THE REST OF MY VEHICLES LIFE. THE WINDOWS NOT SHUTTING IS A VEHICLE SAFELY PROBLEM. GM REPRESENTATIVES CLAIM THAT BECAUSE THEIR ELECTRIC WINDOWS FAIL OPEN THAT IT IS NOT A VEHICLE SAFETY PROBLEM. I KNOW OF MANY OTHER BUICK AND PONTIAC OWNERS THAT ARE ALSO HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEMS WITH THESE WINDOWS AS THE VEHICLES AGE OUT OF WARRANTY. *NM
DUAL CLIMATE CONTROL: PASSENGER SIDE AIR STUCK AT ONE TEMPERATURE. PASSENGER SIDE DOES NOT RESPOND TO ANY CONTROLS, STAYS AT FOR EXAMPLE AT 70 DEGREES. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE. MECHANIC SAYS IT IS AN ELECTRICAL SERVO, RATHER THAN A VACUUM CANISTER. IT HAS COST ME $167 TO FIX BOTH TIMES. IT MAY ALSO BE HELPFUL TO KNOW THAT THE FIRST FAILURE HAPPENED AROUND MAY OF 2005 AND TEMPERATURE WAS ON FULL HEAT AND SECOND FAILURE HAPPENED THIS MAY OF 2006 AND THE TEMPERATURE WAS STUCK AT ABOUT 70 DEGREES. FURTHERMORE, THE TEMPERATURE LIGHTS OF THE DUAL CLIMATE PANEL CYCLE AS THOUGH IT IS FUNCTIONAL. *JB
2000 BUICK LESABRE WITH POWER WINDOW PROBLEMS**NAR**CC THE LEFT WINDOW DROPPED AND WOULD NOT GO UP. THE WINDOW REGULATOR CABLE WAS TANGLED IN THE PLASTIC PULLEY. TWO MONTHS AFTER THE FIRST FAILURE, THE LEFT FRONT WINDOW STARTED MAKING A GRINDING NOISE WHILE TRYING TO CLOSE IT, AND IT BECAME STUCK IN AN OPEN POSITION. THE REGULATOR HAD TO BE REPLACE AGAIN. ONE MONTH LATER, THE RIGHT REAR WINDOW DROPPED AND THE REGULATOR WAS REPLACED NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. MOST RECENTLY, THE RIGHT FRONT WINDOW WOULD NOT CLOSE. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 BUICK REGAL. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE CONTACT HAD DIFFICULTY TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE CAUSE OF FAILURE WAS THE COLD WEATHER. THE FAILURE BECAME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE IN THE WINTER. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE RACK AND PINION FAILED ON THE DRIVER SIDE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THERE WAS A LEAN WITH THE POWER STEERING SHORT RACK. AS OF JULY 6, 2007, THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 65,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000. THE CONSUMER STATED DEALER REFUSED TO ADMIT THERE WAS A DEFECT BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NEVER INSPECTED BY THE DEALER. THE CONSUMER STATED TOOK THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER DEALER TO BE REPAIRED AND THE CONSUMER HAS THE ORIGINAL PART. UPDATED 09/05/07 *TR
I PURCHASED A 2000 BUICK REGAL GSE 8/18/00 WHICH HAS A SUPERCHARGED ENGINE. THE CAR HAS BEEN A GREAT CAR UNTIL 12/16/2005. AFTER I HAD PARKED THE CAR AND GONE INTO THE DOCTOR'S OFFICE, MY CAR CAUGHT FIRE AND WAS DESTROYED. THE CAR WAS TOTALED AND THE INSURANCE ADJUSTER TOLD ME IT WAS THE 3RD BURNED BUICK REGAL SUPERCHARGED ENGINE THAT HE'D SEEN THIS YEAR ALONE. AFTER INVESTIGATION, IT APPEARS THE GASKET IN THE FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM LEAKED, FUEL DROPPED ONTO THE MANIFOLD SYSTEM, A FIRE STARTED AND THE CAR WAS DESTROYED (ALONG WITH A GOOD BIT OF DAMAGE TO THE VOLVO PARKED NEXT TO MINE). IT WOULD APPEAR THAT THE SUPERCHARGED ENGINE GASKETS ARE A PROBLEM AND FORTUNATELY FOR ME, THE CAR WAS THE ONLY LOSS....IT COULD HAVE BEEN SO MUCH MORE. I DO NOT KNOW IF OTHERS HAVE LOST ANYTHING BEYOND THEIR CARS BUT I BELIEVE IT SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED. *NM

THE PROBLEM DOES NOT ALWAYS EXIST. THE DIAGNOSIS AT THIS TIME IS ALL OK. NOTHING CHECKS FAULTY, BUT THE EBCM IS FAILING AT TIMES. ALSO MAY NEED A BPMV PACK ALSO. QUOTED . DECLINED . CLEARED DTC'S . I WOULD REPLACE THE EBCM FIRST. ( COST FOR REPAIR QUOTED APPROX $2500 WHICH WAS DECLINED DUE TO FURTHER INVESTIGATION BY OWNER ON WHETHER THIS IS A KNOW ISSUE. VEHICLE HAS ONLY 64,814 MI.) (1) ALL DASH LIGHTS CAME ON, ENGINE DIES, CAR QUITS RUNNING WITH NO WARNING, ABS LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY, CAR DIED IN MIDDLE OF INTERSECTION NARROWLY MISSING OTHER CARS (2) CAR TOTALLY DISABLED, HAD TO HAVE TOWED (3)BUICK DEALER REPLACED IGNITION SWITCH. *JB
MY COMPLAINT IS MY WINDOWS. MY CAR WILL BE PAID OFF THIS NOV. AND I SHOULD HAVE ALREADY FILED THIS COMPLAINT. THE FIRST OF THIS YEAR MY RIGHT BACK WINDOW GOT STUCK IN THE DOWNWARD POSITION. I CALLED SUPERIOR CHEV TO GET A QUOTE, IT WAS 249.00 JUST FOR THE WINDOW REGULATOR OVER 600.00 PARTS AND LABOR. I HAD TO HAVE THE PART SO I BOUGHT IT AND CAME IN CONTACT WITH SOMEONE THAT COULD PUT IT ON FOR ME FOR ABOUT 90% LESS THAN SUPERIOR CHEV IN DEKALB COUNTY GEORGIA. I ALWAYS HAD TROUBLE WITH THE REAR LEFT WINDOW. I HAVE MY GRANDDAUGHTER CAR SEAT ON THAT SIDE. WHEN I WOULD PICK UP MY SON FROM SCHOOL WE COULD NOT ROLL THE WINDOWS DOWN BECAUSE THEY WOULD NOT COME DOWN. THEN I HAD THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOWN AND IT GOT STUCK IN THE DOWNWARD POSITION. I HAD TO TAKE IT IN TO HAVE SOMEONE TO TIE IT UP WILL PLASTIC TIES BECAUSE IT WAS STARTING TO RAIN. I HAVE TAKEN VERY GOOD CARE OF MY CAR AND IT WAS NOT ABOUT TO GET RUIN OVER SOME RAIN BECAUSE OF A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. I DIDN'T AND DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO HAVE ALL THESE WINDOWS FIXED. I STILL CAN'T GET THE WINDOWS DOWN ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE OR THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE. I CALLED MONDAY SUPERIOR CHEV OCT 14,2005 INSTEAD OF THE PART BEING 249.00. IT IS NOW 329. HOW IN THE WORLD CAN SOMEONE COME OUT OF THEIR POCKET WITH THIS MUCH MONEY WHEN IT IS THE MANUFACTURERS FAULT. FOR ME IT IS EMBARRASSING TO GO THROUGH A DRIVE-THRU AND OPEN A DOOR TO PAY AND OPEN AGAIN TO PICK-UP THE FOOD. I DON'T GO TO DRIVE-THROUGH NO MORE. IT'S STILL HOT WHEN I WAIT ON MY SON TO GET OFF FROM WORK AND I CAN'T LOWER THE DRIVER'S WINDOW OR THE RIGHT LEFT REAR WHERE MY GRANDDAUGHTER SITS. COULD YOU PLEASE SEE IF THERE IS SOMETHING THAT COULD BE DONE AND NOT JUST FOR ME, BUT FOR OTHER CAR BUYERS TOO. TRANSMISSION AFTER WARM UP BECOMES ROUGH WHILE SHIFTING THROUGH GEARS. WHINNING SOUND OCCURS AND SHIFTING THROUGH GEARS IS ROUGH. CAN TEMPORARY CORRECT THE CONDITION BY SIMPLY SHUTTING DOWN ENGINE AND RESTARTING, BUT THIS CAN BE DANGEROUS ON HIGHWAYS....THIS CONDITION STARTED AT 30,000 MILES....BUT AFTER THE 3 YEAR CAR WARRANTY EXPIRED. *AK
I HAVE A 2000 BUICK REGAL. IN JUNE 2005 THREE WARNING LIGHTS STARTED SHOWING UP ON MY DASH "CHECK ENGINE", "ANTI LOCK BRAKES" AND "TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM OFF". THE LIGHT STAYED ON FOR 1 WEEK AND THEN WENT OFF. THIRTY DAYS LATER, THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AND STAYED ON FOR 1 WEEK AND THEN WENT OFF. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE WILLIAMS FAMILY AUTO MALL DEALERSHIP (WHERE I ORIGINALLY PURCHASED THE CAR AND HAVE HAD MY CAR SERVICED) TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THEY TOLD ME THE ANTI LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND IT WILL COST ME $3,200 TO FIX. THE CAR HAS 80,000 MILES ON IT. I DECLINED HAVING THIS FIXED BECAUSE I DO NOT HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY TO REPAIR THE CAR. IN THE MIDDLE OF AUGUST, THE THREE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON AGAIN AND HAVE STAYED ON SINCE THEM. NOW THAT I SEE THE RECALL NOTICE FOR GM'S TRUCKS AND SUV'S WITH ANTI LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM PROBLEMS I WANTED TO SEE IF MY PROBLEMS ARE RELATED TO THE RECALL. I ALSO WANTED TO SEE IF THERE IS ANYWAY I CAN HAVE MY CAR REPAIRED ALONG WITH THIS RECALL NOTICE. ITS NOT RIGHT FOR SUCH A SYSTEM TO GO OUT WITH 80,000 MILES. IN AUGUST 2005, I ALSO HAS THE POWER STEERING GO OUT ON ALL LEFT TURNS. THIS WAS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND I HAD TO PAY $1,000 TO HAVE THIS FIXED. THIS ALSO HAPPENED AT 80,000 MILES AND AGAIN, IN MY OPINION, SHOULD NOT HAVE GONE OUT. I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO REPAIR THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE I COULD NOT MAKE ANY LEFT TURNS WITH THE VEHICLE. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR AN ESTIMATE WHICH WAS $2,300 WHO SAID THE "RACK" WAS OUT. I THEN TOOK IT TO A LOCAL GARAGE, DEMPSEYS, AND THEY SAID THE "PINION" PART OF THE STEERING WAS OUT. I HAD THE CAR FIXED AT DEMPSEYS FOR $1,000 WITH REFURBISHED PARTS AND THE PROBLEM IS FIXED. *JB

DT: THE PROBLEM WAS NOTICED ABOUT A MONTH AGO. WHILE DRIVING THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON ALL THE TIME. THE LIGHT STAYED ON FOR A WHILE AND THEN WENT OFF, LIKE IT WENT ON FOR 20 MINUTES, AND STAYED OFF FOR 10 MINUTES. THEN, IT CAME BACK ON. THE CAR HAS FRONT AND SIDE AIR BAGS. VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN WRECKED. RECALL 00V371000 WAS ISSUED, BUT THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. IT HAS BEEN REPAIRED AND WILL BE PICKED UP TODAY. OWNER HAD TO PAY HALF THE COST, AND THE VEHICLE HAS 22,000 MILES ON IT.*AK

ANTI-LOCK BRAKE AND TRACTION OFF WARNING LIGHTS ARE DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. TWO PREVIOUS TIMES SINCE JULY 2004 THIS HAS OCCURRED. THREE DIFFERENT COMPONENTS OF THE ANTI-LOCK SYSTEM HAVE BEEN CHANGED.I'M CONCERNED ABOUT FAULTY EQUIPMENT AND THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES NOT WORKING IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH.*AK
2000 BUICK REGAL GS HAS DEFECTIVE TIRE EQUIPMENT. ***NO ANSWER REQUIRED***. *MR THE LOW TIRE LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE VEHICLE 8 TIMES. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THE DEALER HAD TO REINFLATED THE TIRES. THEY ALSO REPLACED TIRE CAPS AND VALVE STEMS. FINALLY ONCE THE WHEEL WAS REPLACED THE PROBLEM NO LONGER OCCURRED. *NM
PERSISTENT OIL LEAKAGE FROM ENGINE AND SUBSEQUENT SMOKE FROM LEAKAGE. THE AUTOMOBILE HAS BEEN TAKEN FOR SERVICING THE PROBLEM FIVE (5) TIMES OVER THE PAST TWO (2) YEARS WITH NO SOLUTION TO PROBLEM. *NM
FRONT BRAKES PADS AND ROTORS REPLACED DUE TO FAILURE OF COMPONENTS AT 34000 MILES.*AK
(1) BOTH REAR SEATS SAFETY BELTS DID NOT OPERATE; (2) UNSAFE CONDITION FOR PASSENGERS IN REAR SEAT; AND (3) TOOK CAR TO DEALER. THEY TOLD ME IT NEEDED BOTH NEW REAR SEAT BELT ASSEMBLIES.*AK VEHICLE: 2000 BUICK REGAL LS VIN [XXX] I FEEL THAT THIS BEING A SAFETY RELATED PROBLEM, WITH A LAW IN FORCE THAT SAYS YOU HAVE TO WEAR A SEAT BELT SHOULD BE SOMETHING THAT SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF BY GM. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE SINCE FEBRUARY 04, 2004 I WAS NOT AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, BECAUSE NO ONE HAS BEEN IN THE BACK SEAT. IF IT WOULD HAVE BEEN ONE REAR SEATBELT ASSEMBLY, I PROBABLY WOULD HAVE PAID TO HAVE IT FIXED, BUT THE FACT THAT BOTH REAR SEAT BELT ASSEMBLIES ARE COMPLETELY LOCKED UP SAYS TO ME THAT THERE MUST BE SOME KIND OF DEFECT, AND I FEEL THAT THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM SHOULD BE REPORTED, AND CHECKED FOR SIMILAR COMPLAINTS OR MALFUNCTIONS. WHILE BACKING OUT OF PARKING SPACE, TURNED WHEEL TO THE LEFT. HEARD AND FELT "CLUNKING" SOUND FROM ENGINE COMPARTMENT. VEHICLE WOULD NO LONGER TURN TO THE LEFT, HOWEVER TURNED OT THE RIGHT WITHOUT PROBLEM. VEHICLE DIAGNOSIS WAS THAT RACK & PINION STEERING GEAR FAILED. REPAIR COST OF $750.00. CONSIST OF REPLACE STEERING BOX, FLUSH POWER STEERING SYSTEM TO REMOVE DEBRIS, AND RE-ALIGN VEHICLE. FORTUNATELY FAILURE OCCURED DURING LOW SPEED OPERATION. IF FAILURE OCCURED AT NORMAL HIGHWAY SPEED, IT MAY HAVE RESULTED IN SEVERE INJURY. SAFETY DEPENDANT ON THE PHYSICAL STRENGTH OF THE OPERATOR.*AK

CHROME WHEELS DELAMINATING CUTTING VALVE STEMS ON TWO OF THE FOUR WHEELS CAUSING AIR LEAKS. ALL FOUR WHEELS ARE DELAMINATING. VALVE STEMS HAVE BEEN REPLACED FOUR- FIVE TIMES. PROBLEM STILL PRESENT,CAUSING SAFETY HAZARD. *JB
ALL 4 WINDOW REGULATORS ON MY 2000 LESABRE HAVE GONE OUT---FOR NO APPARENT REASON & NO WARNING. ADDING INSULT TO INJURY, I CANNOT BUY JUST THE BAD PART, BUT I HAVE TO BUY THE MOTOR, TOO! AT APPROXIMATELY $350.00 PER WINDOW.....WELL---IT'S VERY EMBARRASSING. REAR WINDOWS ARE NOW BEING KEPT IN "UP" POSITION WITH SUCTION CUPS & DOOR-STOPS! LOOKS BAD FOR BUICK--QUITE TACKY!YES, I STILL HAVE THE PARTS.....IN THE TRUNK! (ALONG WITH A DOOR PANEL). THE WINDOWS WERE SCRATCHED TRYING TO GET THEM INTO 'UP' POSITION. OTHERWISE THE CAR COULDN'T BE LOCKED & SECURED. *AK
ALL 4 POWER WINDOW REGULATORS HAVE FAILED AT DIFFERENT TIMES, LEAVING NO EMERGENCY EXIT-LET ALONE THE INCONVENIECE AT DRIVE-UP WINDOWS. 2000 BUICK REGAL DESIGN FLAW IN THE FOG LAMP COMPONENT.*MR THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THE REQUIRED BULB WAS EITHER TOO HOT IR THE DISTANCE BETWEEN THE BULB AND THE BOTTOM OF THE UNIT WAS TOO CLOSE AND A HOLE BURNED THROUGH WHICH ALLOWED WATER TO COLLECT IN THE FOG LAMP UNIT AND CAUSED THE BULB TO BURN OUT. THE DEALER REFUSED TO REPLACE THE UNIT AND SAID IT WAS NOT A DEFECT. *JB
VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER FOR A ROUTINE INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT TIE RODS WORE OUT THEREFORE THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT PASS THE INSPECTION. *AK *NM
AT 83000 MILES MY ABS SYSTEM FAILED LEAVING MY CAR WITHOUT ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL I THINK THAT AT THIS LOW MILIAGE THIS SHOULD NOT BE A FACTOR IN THIS CAR THE PART TO MAKE EVERYTHING WORK RIGHT AGAIN IS $1269.00 WITHOUT LABOR. I FEEL OTHER BUICK OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE LOOKED AT MORE CLOSELY. *A
WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH THE STEERING FAILED. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A SNOW BANK. *AK THE CONSUMER EXPERIENCED TWO CRASHES DUE TO THE BRAKES AND THE STEERING LOCKING. THE CONSUMER HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER ON THREE OCCASIONS FOR THE STEERING PROBLEM BUT THE LOCKING CONTINUED. THE DASH LIGHTS WOULD COME ON (GAS GAUGE AND OIL LIGHT), THE VEHICLE PULLED TO THE RIGHT AND THE TRUNK WOULD FLY OPEN WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. *SC *JB
WENT TO BACK OUT OF PARKING SPOT AT DOCTOR'S OFFICE CAR MADE A "BANGING" NOISE. THE POWER STEERING WOULD NOT WORK WHEN TURNING TO THE LEFT. IT DOES WORK WHEN TURNING TO THE RIGHT. I WENT TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP BECAUSE I THOUGHT SOMETHING.HAPPENED IN THE TRANSMISSION, CAUSING THE STEERING TO BIND WHEN MAKING A LEFT TURN. THEY TOLD ME THAT THE RACK WAS BAD AN NOT THE TRANSMISSION. I GOT ON THE WEB TO FIND PRICING FOR A NEW RACK AND FOUND A WEB SITE THAT LISTED OVER 50 ISSUES. *AK WITH THE RACK FOR GM CARS. I CALLED GM AND THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO HELP. AFTER READING THE COMPLAINTS FROM THE WEB SITE I FEEL THAT SOMEONE NEEDS TO LOOK AT SAFETY ISSUES REGUARDING SUCH AN IMPORTANT PART (STEERING) OF THE CAR.
AT 32,000 MILES DRIVER POWER WINDOW FAILED,WIRING BAD AND WAS REPAIRED.6 MONTHS LATER POWER WINDOW MOTOR FAILED. CLIMATE CONTOL MALFUNCTIONED. SOMETIMES, THE DRIVER'S SIDE MID-LEVEL CLIMATE CONTROL VENTS BLOW WARM AIR, EVEN THOUGH THE CLIMATE CONTROL IS SET ON AUTO AND THE PASSENGER'S SIDE IS BLOWING COLD AIR. THIS HAPPENS REGARDLESS OF THE "AUTO" TEMPERATURE SETTING ( 68, 74 DEGRESS, ETC.). THIS MALFUNCTION COULD CAUSE DRIVER DISTRACTION OR EVEN DROWSINESS.*AK

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 BUICK REGAL. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE ENGINE SUDDENLY STALLED WITH THE LOSS OF POWER STEERING. THERE WAS NO PRIOR WARNING. THE ENGINE RESTARTED AND THE POWER STEERING BEGAN TO FUNCTION NORMALLY. THE FAILURES CONTINUOUSLY OCCURRED. THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS REPLACED TWICE BY THE DEALER. ALSO, THE FUEL PUMP HAD BEEN REPLACED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE FAILURES PERSISTED AFTER THE REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED FOR THE RECENT FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

I RESEARCHED THE NHTSA OFFICE OF DEFECTS INVESTIGATION RECALL DATABASE AND AND FOUND THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE 2000 BUICK REGAL FOR THE INTERIOR SYSTEMS: PASSIVE RESTRAINT: AIR GAG: SIDE DOOR: DRIVER. THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID # IS 00V371000. I WAS NEVER CONTACTED VIA MAIL ON THIS RECALL. I WAS MAILED INFORMATION ON NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID # 01V109000. WHAT DO I NEED TO DO BESIDES GET MY VEHICLE TO A DEALER TO HAVE THIS SRS UNIT CHECKED? DT
MY MAJOR CONCERN IS WHEN I WENT TO REPLACE MY TIRES TODAY GOODYEAR LS EAGLES I WAS TOLD THE TIE RODS WERE WORN SO BADLY THAT THEY COULD NOT DO IT WITHOUT REPLACING THEM TO ALIGN THE CAR PROPERLY. THERE HAD BEEN A NOISE IN THE FRONT OF THE CAR SINCE THE DAY ONE THAT I THOUGHT WAS NORMAL TIRE NOISE, BASED ON MY YEARS OF DRIVING (37 WITHOUT INCIDENT) IT SEEMS WORN TIE RODS AT 31,000 MILES IS SOMETHING TO CONSIDER INVESTIGATING. MY DRIVING IS LOCAL 90% OF THE TIME, 7 MILES EACH WAY TO WORK, 5 DAYS A WEEK. ONCE A MONTH A TRIP TO BOSTON. I TOOK THE OPPORTUNITY TO REPORT THE OTHER LITTLE INCIDENTAL PROBLEMS THAT DO NOT HAVE AN IMMEDIATE EFFECT ON MY SAFETY, THE EXCEPTION BEING THE AIR BAG LIGHT COMING ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY. I HAVE NOT REPORTED THESE MINOR PROBELMS TO THE DEALER. I HAVE REVIEWED THE RECALL NOTICES FOR MY BUICK REGAL AND BASED ON MY VIN NUMBER I AM HOPING NHTSA CAN LET ME KNOW IF ALL THE RECALL WORK HAS BEEN PERFORMED. I PURCHASED THE CAR NEW IN JULY 2000 AND I AM ONLY AWARE OF TWO RECALLS THAT REQUIRED US TO REPLACE THE LABELS ON OUR VISORS AND RETURN TO THE DEALER FOR SEAT BELT ASSEMBLY. I HAVE NEVER BEEN CONTACTED FOR THE OTHER REPORTED RECALLS ALTHOUGH THEY OCCURRED IN MAY 00 AND JUNE 00 AND I DID NOT PURCHASE THE CAR UNTIL 7/29/00.
