WHEN CHANGING THE OIL TO OUR 2002 BUICK RENDEZVOUS, MY HUSBAND FOUND BUBBLES IN BOTH FRONT BRAKE LINES. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO BOB MYERS BUICK DEALERSHIP IN OUR HOME TOWN OF ANDERSON, IN AND WAS TOLD THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT INSPECTED THE BRAKE SYSTEM AND FOUND ALL RUBBER COMPONENTS DAMAGED DUE TO POSSIBLE FLUID CONTAMINATION. THEY ADVISED IT WOULD REQUIRE REPLACEMENT OF ALL RUBBER COMPONENTS AND COMPLETE SYSTEM FLUSH TO PREVENT FURTHER DAMAGE. THE ESTIMATE WAS QUITE EXPENSIVE AND WE WERE ADVISED THIS WOULD NOT BE UNDER WARRANTY. WE TOOK OUR VEHICLE THEN TO DEAN'S ENGINE SHOP, ANDERSON, IN AND HAD THEM DO REPAIR WORK. HE ADVISED ON OUR PAID RECEIPT " CHECKED FOR CONTAMINATED BRAKE FLUID, TOOK MASTER CLY APART AND CHECKED, NONE FOUND, POSSIBLE DEFECT IN RUBBER HOSES; REPLACED RUBBER LINES AT ALL 4 WHEELS REPLACED MASTER CYL FLUSHED OUT AND BLEAD TOTAL COST OF $572.26 (REPAIRS DONE 3-4-04) FIRST INSPECTION FROM BOB MYERS BUICK 2-25-04. WE ALSO HAD TO PAY FOR A RENTAL VEHICLE WHILE OUR VEHICLE WAS IN FOR THIS REPAIR 02-27-04 TO 03-02-04. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER IS USED INTERIOR WILL NOT COOL IN THE VEHICLE. CONSUMER CONTACTED THE DEALER, AND DEALER FOUND THAT AIR CONDITIONER CONDENCER MALFUNCTIONED. ALSO, DASHBOARD LIGHTS FLASHED AND WENT OUT. THEN VEHICLE STALLED AT ANY SPEED. *AK
THE A/C UNIT QUIT WORKING ON MY2002 BUICK RNDEZVOUS @ 42,000 MILES AND IT COST $600.00 TO FIX. AT 44,000 MILES THE INTAKE GASKETS ARE OUT OF IT AND IT'S A 3.4 LITER V6 AND EVERBODY HAS THE SAME PROBLEM, IT'S AN ENGINEERING FLAW. THE SEATS DON'T GO BACK FAR ENOUGH IN THE FRONT FOR TALL PEOPLE. *AK
I HAVE HAD MY BUICK RENDEZVOUS BACK FOR THE SAME PROBLEM 4 TIMES. THE FUEL INJECTORS ARE BAD NOT FIRING CORRECTLY. FUEL LINE PROBLEMS FUEL RUNNING LEAN. I HAD TO HAVE THE AIR CONDITION FIX NOT FOR BLOWING. COLD AIR CONDENSER LEAKING. I HAD TO HAVE THE BLOWER MOTOR REPLACED. WINDSHIELD WASHER FREEZING UP. INTERNAL FAILURE R &R CENTER CONSOLE REPLACED. HAD LIFTGATE ASSEMBLY REPLACED. *JB
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FAILURE WITH ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING. *AK
FRONT LEFT WHEEL BEARING FAILED WITH 64,000 ON THE VEHICLE. RIGHT REAR WHEEL BEARING WAS REPLACED AT THE SAME TIME. LEFT REAR BEARING HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED AS BAD AND MUST BE REPLACED. BOTH FRONT BEARING FAILED AT 30,000 MILES AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. RIGHT FRONT BEARING WAS REPLACED A SECOND TIME AT 43,539 MILES.*AK
BOTH RIGHT AND LEFT SIDE AIR BAGS INFLATED WITHOUT AN IMPACT OR ANYOTHER PHYSICAL CAUSES. *AK
AFTER ABOUT 1/2 HOUR OF DRIVING MY 2002 BUICK RENDEZVOUS, ALL OF THE CHECK BULB LIGHTS CAME ON AND THE GAUGES WENT TO ZERO. THIS LASTED FOR ABOUT 1 SECOND, AND THE ENGINE DID NOT SHUT DOWN. IT BEGAN TO HAPPEN EVERY FEW MINUTES AND WITH GREATER FREQUENCY UNTIL IT WAS OCCURRING CONTINUOUSLY. I PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, AND AFTER 20 MINUTES IT APPEARED TO GO BACK TO NORMAL. AFTER 20 MORE MINUTES OF DRIVING THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID "THE BLACK BOX FAILED" AND THEY REPLACED IT. *NLM
THE HEADLIGHTS ON MY 2002 BUICK, RENDEZVOUS KEPT GOING OUT FOR NO APPARENT REASON. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE SHOP (VANATTA BUICK IN VESTAL NY) AND THEY SAID IT COULD BE THE BODY CONTROL MODULE. THEY SCANNED THE DATA OUTPUT AND FOUND SEVERAL CODES THAT INDICATED A MALFUNCTION OF THIS UNIT. I HAD THEM REPLACE THE UNIT. THEY COVERED THE COST OF THE UNIT AND I PAYED THE LABOR.. THE PROBLEM HAS NOT OCCURED SENSE THE UNIT WAS REPLACED. IT IS MY OPINION THAT THIS MALFUNCITON IS A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM. IN MY SITUATION THE SEVERAL TIMES THAT THE LIGHTS WENT OUT, II WAS NOT IN A DANGEROUS PLACE (IE ON A SUPER HIGHWAY GOING 65 MPH) IF I HAD BEEN IN THAT SITUATION, THE SECOND OR TWO THE HEADLIGHTS AND DASH LIGHTS WERE OUT COULD HAVE HAD FATAL CONSEQUENCES-- SUCH AS A DEER CROSSING THE ROAD OR WORSE YET, A PERSON ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. *AK
WHILE DRIVING TRANSMISSION JERKED AND WON'T SHIFT PROPERLY FROM SECOND TO THIRD GEAR. DEALER REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION. ALSO, IN THE LAST PAST FIVE MONTHS, THE LIFTGATE HINGES/TIE ROD, AND IGNITION SWITCH HAD BEEN REPLACED. *AK GEARS AND TIRES WERE REPLACED, BUT PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. *PH
THE CAR'S TIRES ARE WORN OUT AT 22,000 MILES. BOTH BUICK AND FIRESTONE ARE NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE SUBSTANDARD TIRES. *LA

I HIT A POST HEAD-ON AND ALTHOUGH I HAD EXTENSIVE DAMAGES, MY AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. FORTUNATELY I HAD MY SEAT BELT ON SO I ONLY SLIGHTLY BRUISED MY CHEST ON THE STEERING WHEEL
CORROSION OF WATERPROOF CONNECTORS IN ELECTRICIAL SYSTEMS AND WATER AND CORROSION IN TAIL LIGHTS
WHILE DRIVING AT 25 MPH VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD ON COLLISION, AND AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *AK
I WAS PARKING MY CAR IN THE PARKING LOT OF A BANK. THE ACCELERATOR STUCK AND MY CAR BUMPED INTO THE POST AT THE END OF THE PARKING SPOT. *LA
THE OUTSIDE REARVEIW MIRRORS ARE TOO BIG CAUSING A BLIND SPOT IN SEVERAL AREAS. SHORTER PEOPLE AS MYSELF A 5'4" CAN'T SEE OVER THEM ALSO THEY ARE TO WIDE CAUSING A 2' BLIND SPOT FOR VISION. THEY ALSO HAVE TOO LARGE OF MIRROR MAKING THE IMAGES IN THE REAR APPEAR LIKE THEY ARE IN FRONT OF YOU. SEVERAL MISSED ACCIDENTS WITH BICYCLES AND OTHER CARS DUE TO BLIND SPOT. CONTACTED BUICK AND THEY SAID NOTHING COULD BE DONE. NEED TO REPLACE WITH SMALLER MIRROR. *AK
THE ODOMETER READ IMPROPERLY AND AS A RESULT THE VEHICLES MILEAGE WAS INCORRECT.*AK
WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER, WAS NOT ABLE TO SHIFT ANY GEARS. MANAGED TO PULL OVER TO SIDE OF ROAD. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP, AND THE MECHANIC SAID THAT PROBLEM WAS HAD TO WITH THE TRANSMISSION. *AK THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO SLIP AND MAKE NOISE WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND REPAIRED. ONE WEEK LATER THE TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY FAILED WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY OVERHAULED THE TRANSMISSION. THE CONSUMER HAS NOT FAITH IN THE TRANSMISSION. THE FRONT LEFT AND RIGHT BEARING SEPARATED OCCASIONALLY. *PH *NLM
AIR CONDITIONER CONDENSER DEVELOPED MOLD. AS A RESULT, AN ODOR SEEPED THROUGHOUT THE VEHICLE. *AK
STEERING RACK HAS LOOSE PLAY IN JOINTS. DEALER HAD TO REPLACE STEERING SHAFT AND RACK AND PINION. I WAS UNAWARE THIS WAS A PROBLEM UNTIL VEHICLE FAILED TO TO FUEL PUMP PROBLEM ON SAME DAY.*AK
VEHICLE STALLED 8/9/03 DUE TO FAILURE OF FUEL PUMP. ALSO HAD LEAK UNDER VEHICLE. DEALER DETERMINED LOWER INTAKE AND CYL HEAD GASKETS WERE LEAKING!*AK
VEHICLE STOPPED RUNNING IN MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. WOULD NOT START. TOWED TO DEALER. IT WAS DETERMINED THE FUEL PUMP WAS NOT WORKING. THERE WAS NO WARNING THIS WAS ABOUT TO HAPPEN. VEHCILE STAYED IDLE FOR 8 DAYS BEFORE A FUEL PUMP COULD BE LOCATED! THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH SEVERAL MODELS OF GM VEHICLES. DEALER CONFIRMED THE PROBLEM.*AK
2002 BUICK RENDEZVOUS SUDDEN ELECTRICAL FAILURES WHILE VEHICLE IN OPERATION. THE MOST RECENT EVENT OCCURRED ON FRIDAY, AUGUST 8 WHILE TRAVELING IN IDAHO SPRINGS, CO WHILE DRIVING ON STRAIGHT LEVEL ROAD AND NOT ACCELERATING NOR DECELERATING -- I WAS MAINTAINING A CONSTANT 40 MPH AND HAD THE VEHICLE SIMPLY CUT OFF AND WAS UNABLE TO CONTROL. FORTUNATELY, WE CAME TO STOP BEFORE CRASHING. THIS IS THE FOURTH INCIDENT OF THE TYPE SINCE WE HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE. DEALERSHIP AND GENERAL MOTORS ARE UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES AND HAS RETURNED THE CAR TO ME WITH THE CAUTION THAT "CONDITION DID NOT REOCCUR. DUE TO INFREQUENCY OF CONDITION, CUSTOMER NEEDS TO DRIVE TO SEE IF CONDITION IS REPAIRED." I AM CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY AND OTHERS BECAUSE OF THE SUDDEN, UNPREDICTABLE FAILURES. ARE THERE OTHER 2002 BUICK RENDEZVOUS VEHICLES WITH SIMILAR REPORTED PROBLEMS? *NLM
FRONT RIGHT WHEEL BEARING HAS BEEN REPLACED TOW TIMES IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS. *JB
WHILE DRIVING AND WHENEVER CONSUMER DEPRESSED THE BRAKES DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT SLID UP OR BACK. DEALER CLAIMED THAT THE SEAT WAS DESIGNED TO DO THAT.*AK
BUICK RENDEVOUS - 2002REAR LIFTGATE CAN BE INADVERTENTLY OPENED BY DEPRESSING EITHER THE KEY FOB BUTTON OR THE DASH BOARD BUTTON WHILE THE CAR IS IN PARK.THE CAR CAN BE PLACED IN DRIVE AND DRIVEN, AND THE DASH BOARD WARNING INDICATOR DOES NOT ILLUMINATE, WARNING THE DRIVER THAT THE GATE IS AJAR. WHILE I HAVEN'T INVESTIGATED THIS, THE SENSOR IS PROBABLY A PLUNGER OR PRESSURE SENSOR. THE GATE IS HEAVY ENOUGH, EVEN WHEN UNLOCKED, THAT THE SENSOR DOES NOT ACTIVATE ON UNLOCKING. AS THE CAR IS DRIVEN, THE GATE MOVES AND THE SENSOR COMES ON. THERE IS A POSSIBLITY THAT A CAR'S LOAD OR PASSENGERS COULD BE EJECTED FROM THIS UNLOCKED LIFT GATE WHILE THE CAR IS IN OPERATION. WE HAVE INADVERTENTLY ACTIVATED THE UNLOCKING MECHANISM THREE TIMES, HAVE PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND SECURED THE GATE WITHOUT INCIDENT. THE REMEDY WOULD INVOLVE HAVING THE SENSOR LINKED TO THE LOCKING MECHANISM SO THAT ANY TIME IT IS UNLOCKED, THE DRIVER IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE.*AK
AUTOMOBILE CUTS OFF AND DOES NOT WANT TO RESTART. THEN, STEERING LOCKS , AND SHE CANNOT GET IT TO UNLOCK UNTIL SHE BEATS ON IT FOR 5-10 MINUTES. THEN, IT RELEASES. SHE HAS HAD IT TO 3 DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS, AND THEY ALL TOLD HER THAT THEY COULD FIX THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT GET THE VEHICLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.*AK
MY 2002 BUICK RENDEZVOUS CXL HAS A RECURRING PROBLEM WITH THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS. WHEN I AM DRIVING IN THE RAIN AND TURN ON THE WIPERS, THEY DO COME ON, BUT UNLESS I TURN MY VEHICLE OFF AND REMOVE THE KEY, THE WIPERS WILL NOT TURN OFF; NOR WILL THEY CHANGE SPEEDS. I WILL BE TAKING THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR THIS WEEK. *NLM
FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS DEFECT TWICE IN SIX MONTHS. (CANNOT UNDERSTAND HOW THIS COULD HAPPEN TWICE IN ONE YEAR ON A NEW CAR. I ONLY DO HIGHWAY DRIVING LIVE IN NY AND WORK IN CT. I WAS TOLD PART (HUB KIT 6.307 R )ON BACK ORDER FOR AT LEAST THREE WEEKS. I COULD NOT BE WITHOUT A CAR FOR THREE WEEKS NOR COULD I RENT A CAR FOR THREE WEEKS. SO I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC WHO FIXED IT IN ONE DAY.
AFTER STOPPING ON A HILL WITH THE TRANSMISSION IN 'D', AS SOON AS I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE, THE CAR STARTED ROLLING BACK. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN CARS ARE BEHIND AND YOU COME TO A STOP ON A HILL AND THEN NEED TO GO. *NLM THE DEALER REPLACED THE TORQUE CONVERTER BUT THAT DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM.
WHILE THE DRIVER ATTEMPTED TO TURN A CORNER THE VEHICLE STALLED. *NLM
THE CRUISE CONTROL LIGHT ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WOULD COME ON AND FLASH WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS NOT IN CRUISE CONTROL (BUT WAS BEING DRIVEN ON THE HIGHWAY). I CHECKED TO SEE IF MAYBE THE CRUISE SWTITCH HAD BEEN LEFT ON; IT HAD NOT BEEN. TURNING THE SWITCH ON AND OFF DID NOTHING -- THE CRUISE DID NOT WORK AND THE LIGHT FLASHED. I CHECKED THE VEHICLE OWNER'S MANUAL AND IT DID NOT STATE THE REASON WHY THIS LIGHT WOULD FLASH -- I HAD TO ASSUME IT WAS DOING SO BECAUSE THE CRUISE WAS BROKEN ON THE VEHICLE. TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALER AND SURE ENOUGH, THE CRUISE SWITCH WAS BAD. THE OWNER MANUAL SHOULD HAVE CONTAINED INFORMATION ON WHAT TO DO WHEN THE LIGHT WAS FLASHING.*AK
WHILE DRIVING , THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE STARTED TO VIBRATE. THIS WAS CAUSED BY FRONT WHEEL BEARING ASSEMBLY FAILURE. THE PART WAS REPLACED. *AK THE DRIVER'S SIDE WAS THE PARTIAL FAILURE AND THE PASSENGER'S SIDE WAS NEAR CATASTROPHIC FAILURE AND MAY HAVE RESULTED IN THE WHEEL LOCKING UP AFTER CONTINUED USE. *PH *JB
JUST OPENING A BUICK RENDEZVOUS DOOR CAUSED A $900 DOLLARS DAMAGE. WE OPENED THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR OF OUR NEW BUICK RENDEZVOUS 2002. IT WAS A WINDY DAY AND THE DOOR WENT TOO FAR BENDING THE HINGES AND CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE FRONTAL BODY PART OF THE VEHICLE. APPARENTLY, THE DOORS HAVE NO DOOR BRAKE AND THEREFORE, THIS TYPE OF DAMAGE COULD EASILY OCCUR. (SEE WWW.BUICK.8K.COM) THE DEALER WAS ALL TOO FAMILIAR WITH THE PHENOMENA. IN FACT, HE SAID, THAT MORNING HE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH 3 OTHER CUSTOMERS. BUICK REFUSED TO FIX OUR VEHICLE. *LA
THE TRANSMISSION IN THE VEHICLE DID NOT WORK PROPERLY (HARD SHIFTING). THE CONSUMER KNEW OF TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS ISSUED FOR THIS PROBLEM. *NLM *AK THE VEHICLE DID NOT SHIFT HARD AT SPEEDS OF UP 25 MPH. *SCC *JB. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE DID NOT SHIFT PROPERLY AND ACCELERATE PROPERLY FROM A STOP. *JB
DRIVER DOOR HINGE WEAKENED WHICH CAUSED THE DOOR TO BECOME SPRUNG. IT RUBBED AGAINST THE FRONT FENDER AND CAUSED IT TO BEND. CAR HAD 25,109 MILES ON IT AND WAS UNDER WARRANTY. BUICK REFUSED TO HONOR THE WARRANTY. *TT
THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS LOCKED TOGETHER AND STOPPED ROTATING. THE CONSUMER HAD TO PHYSICALLY UNLOCK THE WIPER ARMS. *JB
THE HEATER FANS DO NOT WORK PROPERLY. THE DEALER SAYS THE HEATER MEETS SPECIFICATIONS BUT ADMITTED THAT THEY HAD 4 OTHER BUICK RENDEZVOUS' IN THE SHOP THAT DAY WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT. I KNOW TWO OTHER PEOPLE WITH A 2002 BUICK RENDEZVOUS WHO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM.
2002 BUICK RENDEZVOUS VERY LOW PASSENGER HEAT, TROUBLE DEFROSTING WINDSHEILD. CAR TAKEN IN TO DOBLES BUICK IN MANCHESTER, NH THREE TIMES THEN TULLEY BUICK OF NASHUA, NH. INFORMED, WILL NOT PUT OUT MORE HEAT. DRIVING IN COLD WEATHER A BLANKET IS USED. SOME TIMES TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT A BLAST OF HOT AIR COMES OUT OF VENTS. MORE HOT AIR COMES OUT OF TOP VENTS THAN FLOOR VENTS. BOTH DEALERS TESTED CAR AND INFORMED IT WAS WORKING TO FACTORY SPECS. WE HAVE ASKED TO HAVE THE BUICK AREA REPRESENTIVE CONTACT US ON THIS MATTER. THIS CAR PURCHASED NEW 12-20-2002 , CURRENTLY HAS ABOUT 1600 MILES. DEALER SAID WAIT UNTIL THE WEATHER GOT WARMER AND IT WOULD NOT BE AN ISSUE. HAVE CONTACTED BUICK @ 1-800-521-7300 ASSIGNED CASE 1-66914926 AND DORETHA HOLDER, THIS WAS 1-24-2003 @ 1-866-952-4368 X58900 SHE HAS FAILED TO RESPOND TO OUR PHONE CALLS. CALLED MAIN NUMBER AGAIN NOW TALKING TO ELISA ORTIZ @ 1-866-942-4368 X48335 SHE SAID SHE WOULD TAKE OVER THE CASE. THE CAR IS NOT ENJOYABLE TO DRIVE IS A HAZARD AS THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT DOES NOT GET ADEQUATE HEAT FOR DEFROSTING WINDOWS AND HEAT THE PASSENGERS. I TOLD DOBLES THAT WE WOULD CLAIM IT UNDER A LEMON LAW THEY INFORMED US THAT BEING THEY DO NOT FIND A PROBLEM THAT OUR CASE WOULD BE WEAK AND WOULD PERHAPS BE THROWN OUT. EVERY PERSON THAT HAS BEEN IN THIS CAR IN THE COLD WEATHER COMPLAINS IT IS TOO COLD. CAN NOT FEEL SAFE IN CAR IN COLD FREEZING WEATHER AS THE WINDOWS ICE UP. OUR FAMILY OWNS CHEV 2001 SILVERADO, A 1997 CHEV CONVERSION VAN, 1997 CADY- CATERA . ALL OF THE OTHER CARS WILL PROVIDE ENOUGH HEAT FOR DEFROST AND PASSENGERS. THIS WILL NOT. IS THE BURDEN OF PROOF ON US BECAUSE THE FACTORY SAYS IT IS NORMAL? WE INITIALLY LIKED THE CAR AND ALL WE ASKED IS FOR A RESOLUTION TO OUR PROBLEM. I HAVE TAKEN CAR TO AN INDEPENDENT SERVICE STATION AND THEY SAID BUICK SHOULD LOOK AT CONNECTIONS IN THE "AIR CONNECTION BOX".
WINDSHIELD HAS TWO SMALL CHIPS THAT DEVELOPED INTO A LARGE CRACK ON LEFT SIDE. DEALER IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM.PLEASE FILL IN ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *AK
I'VE HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH MY CAR. ONE OF THE PROBLEMS IS WHEN VEHICLE IS AT A STOPPED POSITION WHILE DRIVING, VEHICLE ROLLS BACK. DEALERSHIP CLAIMS IT IS NORMAL.
