THIS 2006 CADILLAC CTS IS A 6 PSPD MANUAL TRANSMISSION, ALL OTHER GEARS WORK EXCEPT REVERSE. THIS VEHICLE ONLY HAS ABOUT 20,100 MILES WHICH IS CONSISTENT WITH LESS THAN 2 YEARS OF USING A VEHICLE. I WAS TOLD BY THE AUTO DEPT AT GM ON MAUI THEY WILL NOT BE PAYING FOR THE REPAIRS AND THE PROBLEM WAS THE WEAR AND TEAR IN THE SHIFT ASSEMBLY HAD TO BE CHANGED. A MONTH LATER I ATTEMPTED TO GET THIS FIXED BY THE SAME AUTO DEPARTMENT AND WAS INFORMED THEY DON'T HAVE A COMPANY THAT MANUFACTURES THE PARTS (PART NO 1526075) AND THEY CANNOT FIND THIS PART ANYWHERE. I BELIEVE THIS IS A DEFECT IN THE SHIFT ASSEMBLY PART AND FEEL GM SHOULD HAVE THIS SHIFT ASSEMBLY PART RECALLED. CHECKS MADE ON THE WEB REVEALED THAT THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE ON "CADILLAC.COM" AND ?AUTOPARTSFAIR.COM?. *TR
CAR WAS PARKED AT WORK I WAS NOTIFIED THAT IT WAS LEAKING/POURING GASOLINE UNDER CAR. TOWED TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. DEALERSHIP NOTED, "GAS LEAKING AT TOP OF TANK, CONNECTOR SHORTED AT TOP OF FUEL MODULE WHICH BURNT A HOLE AND WAS LEAKING GASOLINE". IT CANNOT BE CAUSED BY A ROAD IMPACT AS IT OCCURS ON THE FUEL MODULE ON THE TOP OF THE GAS TANK. ENTIRE TANK HAS TO BE DROPPED OFF OF CAR TO REPLACE THE MODULE. I INVESTIGATED IN THE CADILLAC OWNERS FORUM AND IT WAS NOTED THAT THIS HAS OCCURRED ON OTHER CADILLACS AND GM VEHICLES.CAUSED BY A SHORT. I NOTIFIED DEALERSHIP SERVICE MANAGER OF THIS AND WAS TOLD THERE IS NO RECALL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CADILLAC CTS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD NOISE UNDER THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE ABNORMALLY. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INSPECTION STATION. THE MECHANIC INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THE DRIVE SHAFT COUPLER WAS DAMAGED AND NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT WAS STILL DAMAGED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE ENTIRE DRIVE SHAFT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
CPSC#I1280376A. 2006 CADILLAC CTS. CONSUMER STATED HE PURCHASED A FRONT AND REAR DRIVE SHAFT COUPLE. *LN THE CONSUMER STATE WHEN HE RECEIVED THE PART, HE HAD IT INSTALLED AT A LOCAL GARAGE IN GERMANY. THE PART PERFORMED WELL FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. HOWEVER, ON AUGUST 6TH, AS HE WAS DRIVING, THE PART FAILED. THE CONSUMER STATED THE DRIVE SHAFT, WHICH TURNED THE REAR WHEELS, CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO VIOLENTLY SHAKE. AN INSPECTION REVEALED THE REAR DRIVE SHAFT COUPLER WAS DESTROYED AND HAD RIPPED TO SHREDS. THE FRONT COUPLER WAS ALSO DEFECTIVE. THE VEHICLE SHOWED SIGNS OF ADDITIONAL DAMAGE CAUSED BY THE DEFECTIVE PART.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CADILLAC CTS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE WAS UNABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION AND THE ANTI-THEFT WARNING MESSAGE ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. ALSO THE TEMPERATURE AND FUEL GAUGES MALFUNCTIONED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2006 CADILLAC CTS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH DURING INCLEMENT WEATHER, THE CONTACT CRASHED THE VEHICLE INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED SPINE INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V394000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER (DIC) BEGAN SUDDENLY DISPLAYING "SERVICE AIRBAG SOON" ALERT WHEN PASSENGER IS SEATED WITHIN VEHICLE. CURSORY INSPECTION REVEALED NO OBVIOUS PROBLEM WITH AIRBAG SYSTEM COMPONENTS TO INCLUDE VISIBLE WIRING AND ACCESSIBLE SENSOR CONNECTION POINTS. THIS PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE CONSISTENT WITH THE CONDITION ADDRESSED IN GM RECALL NUMBER 10355 (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID 10V644000). THE REFERENCED RECALL INCLUDES CERTAIN "2006 MODEL YEAR CADILLAC CTS AND CTS-V VEHICLES"; HOWEVER, GM'S CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER IS STATING THAT MY PARTICULAR 2006 CTS VIN# IS NOT SHOWING ANY OUTSTANDING RECALLS AT THIS TIME. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO REPLACED THE PASSENGER PRESENCE MODULE. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE MODULE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPLACED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V644000 (AIR BAGS). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
I HAD TIMING CHAIN DONE ON MY CAR IN OCT. OF 2011 AT JACK WOLF IN BELVEDIRE, IL AT THE TIME THE CAR WAS FIXED UNDER A EXTENDED WARRANTY. I THEN HAD THE SAME PROBLEM HAPPEN AGAIN JAN. 2013. I CALLED GM I WAS TOLD THAT THEN WOULD NOT FIX IT EVEN THOUGH IT HAD ONLY BEEN A YEAR AND 6 MONTHS SINCE THE PROBLEM HAPPEN BEFORE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC THAT LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE PASSENGER SENSOR SYSTEM. THE MANUFACTURER DENIED ASSISTANCE WITH THE REPAIR BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V644000 (AIR BAGS: FRONTAL: SENSOR/CONTROL MODULE). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 87,000.

FUEL GAUGE INDICATES MORE FUEL THAN WHAT IS IN THE TANK. FOR EXAMPLE THE FUEL GAUGE READS 1/2 TANK WHEN THERE IS ONLY A FEW GALLONS IN THE TANK. *TR
WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR WILL NOT SHUT OFF ONCE TURNED ON. INTERMITTENT DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. MUST STOP THE VEHICLE, TURN OFF THE MOTOR AND REMOVE THE KEY FROM IGNITION IN ORDER TO STOP THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS. EVERYTIME THE WIPERS ARE TURNED ON THIS HAPPENS...EVERYTIME. HOW DOES SOMEONE DRIVE ON A FREEWAY HAVING TO STOP THEIR VEHICLE EVERYTIME THEY NEED TO TURN ON A WINDSHIELD WIPER? THIS DEFECT IS ON THOUSANDS OF CTS'S...MAYBE HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF CADILLACS ACCORDING TO THE WEBSITE CLUBS.... AND IS A $1,000 REPAIR. GM SHOULD FIX THIS DEFECT FOR FREE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2006 CADILLAC CTS. THE CONTACT STATED THE PASSENGER SEAT AIR BAG SENSOR FAILED AGAIN AND THE LIGHT WAS NOT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V644000; COMPONENT: AIR BAGS: FRONTAL: SENSOR/CONTROL MODULE. GM SAFETY RECALL NO. 100355. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THE SENSOR WOULD ONLY REGISTER PROPERLY IF THERE WAS A PERSON WHO WEIGHED 105 TO 115 LBS IN THE SEAT. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THE DEALER REPAIRED THE VEHICLE TO THE BEST OF THEIR KNOWLEDGE AND OFFERED NO OTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000. UPDATED 08/05/11*LJ
I TOOK MY 2006 CADILLAC CTS INTO A GM DEALER FOR A RECALL. THEY ALSO CHANGED THE OIL. EVER SINCE THEY CHANGED THE OIL, MY CAR HAS BEEN BURNING AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF OIL. I HAD TO PUT A QUART OF OIL OR MORE ABOUT EVERY 500 MILES. I PUT IN 1 1/2 QUARTS ON A WEDNESDAY AND ON A MONDAY MY CAR BEGAN MAKING A LOUD KNOCKING SOUND IN THE ENGINE. GM WILL NOT LISTEN TO ME AND NOW MY CAR PROBABLY NEEDS A NEW MOTOR. I HAVE BABIED THE CAR AND THIS IS NOT MY FAULT. OIL IS IN THE CAR AT ALL TIMES AND IT SHOULD NOT THROW A ROD WITH OIL. *TR
I WAS NUMBER 6 OF PERSONS TO HAVE A SEVERE ROLLOVER WRECK IN THE SAME SPOT. IN A CURVE, MY RIGHT FRONT TIRE CAUGHT T THE LIP OF A 3 FOOT DEEP CONCRETE CULVERT IN A DRIVEWAY. IT WAS 9 INCHES FROM THE ROAD EDGE. IT FLIPPED OVER FRONT TO ON ROOF. I WAS TRAPPED IN CAR.MY FRONT AIRBAG PARTIALLY OPENED BUT NOT ENOUGH TO KEEP MY FACE AND CHEST AREA FROM HITTING AND BREAKING THE STEERING WHEEL. NO OTHER OF 7 AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AT ALL. EVERY WINDOW, INCLUDING SUNROOF WAS TOTALLY BROKEN OUT. BOTH FRONT SEATS WERE CRUSHED INTO THE FLOOR AND TOO HOT TO TOUCH.. SINCE IT OCCURRED IN THE COUNTRY, I WAS SAVED BY THE NEIGHBORS CALLING FOR HELP.ONSTAR FAILED TO NOTIFY ANYONE AND THE FIRE/EMT MAN SAID CAR WAS 5 MINUTES AWAY FROM GOING UP IN FLAMES. MY IMPLANTS WERE BOTH RUPTURED BY HITTING STEERING WHEEL AND FACE CUT UP AND BRUISED BY GLASS AND LACK OF FULL EMPLOYMENT BY DRIVER AIRBAG. I HAVE PHOTOS SHOWING CAR AND AIRBAG. THE AIRBAG WAS PRISTINE CLEAN WITH 2 LARGE TORN HOLES. NO SMOKE OR DUST OFF ANY TYPE. I STILL HAVEN'T DRIVEN IN 21/2 YEARS. PLEASE GIVE ME YOUR OPINION. THANK YOU. *TR
MY WIFE AND I PURCHASED A 2006 CADILLAC CTS WITH AN EXTENDED WARRANTY IN 2008. EVER SINCE WE'VE HAD IT, WE'VE EXPERIENCED INTERMITTENT BRAKING FAILURE AT LOW SPEEDS WHILE TURNING. YESTERDAY THIS ISSUE CAUSED MY WIFE TO BUMP ANOTHER VEHICLE WHILE PARKING. THIS PROBLEM IS ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS AS IT ONLY HAPPENS OCCASIONALLY SO IT CATCHES THE DRIVER OFF GUARD. WE HAVE SENT CADILLAC A DESCRIPTION OF THE ISSUE IN FALL OF 2010 BUT THEY NEVER EVEN RESPONDED. WE TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT IT WOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BUT THEY CANNOT REPLICATE THE ISSUE. THERE ARE FORUMS OF PEOPLE WHO'VE HAD THE SAME ISSUE. WE JUST WANT THE ISSUE FIXED AS OTHER THAN THAT, WE LIKE THE CAR. THIS HAS EVEN HAPPENED AT INTERSECTIONS AND FORTUNATELY THERE WAS NO ONE COMING. THIS ISSUE MAY HAVE ALREADY RESULTED IN DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY ELSEWHERE AND WE WOULD LIKE THE MANUFACTURER TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE ISSUE AND CORRECT IT BEFORE SOMEONE ELSE IS INJURED OR KILLED. *TR
2006 CADILLAC CTS AIRBAG DEFECTIVE. RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE LAST WEEK. TOOK CAR IN FOR REPAIR, AND IT WAS RESCHEDULED DUE TO NEEDING MORE PARTS. NEXT DAY, CAR WAS TOTALED IN A FRONT END COLLISION. AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, AND DAUGHTER'S HEAD SLAMMED INTO STEERING WHEEL CAUSING CONCUSSION, FACIAL CONTUSIONS, INCLUDING FOUR BROKEN TEETH (MAJOR DENTAL REPAIR WILL BE REQUIRED), AS WELL AS A LEG CONTUSION. TRANSMISSION FAILURE DUE TO FAULTY TRANSCOOLER INSIDE THE RADIATOR RESULT IN REPLACING TRANSMISSION RADIATOR AND FLUIDS. *TR
AIR BAG RECALL BY GM IN DECEMBER. I CALL THE CADILLAC CUSTOMER SERVICE ENQUIRING ABOUT THE RECALL FOR THE PASSENGER SEAT AIRBAG FOR CERTAIN CTS FROM 2005-2010 TO FIND OUT THAT I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY NOTICE AND MY PASSENGER OR AIRBAG SYSTEM IS STILL DISABLED SINCE I REPORTED IT TO GM IN 2010 AND FOR THEM TO TELL ME IF MY CTS WAS INCLUDED. THE CADILLAC CUSTOMER SERVICE LOOKED IN THE COMPUTER WITH MY VIN NUMBER AND SHE COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING. I ASKED WHICH CTS FROM 2006 AND OTHER YEARS WAS RECALL AND SHE DID NOT FIND ANYTHING. SHE ASKED ME TO CALL IN TWO MONTHS AND SEE IF MY CAR IS INCLUDED. I CAN NOT UNDERSTAND IF A RECALL WAS ANNOUNCE IN DECEMBER 2010, WHY IT WOULD TAKE SO LONG FOR GM- CADILLAC TO DETERMINE WHICH SPECIFIC CTS IS INVOLVE IN THIS RECALL UNLESS THE LONGER THEY WAIT, IT WILL DISQUALIFY MORE OWNERS IF THEY USE A MILEAGE LIMIT ON THE RECALL. THE LONGER THEY WAIT THE MORE MILEAGE OWNERS PUT IN THEIR CTS THUS INCREASING THE AMOUNT OF CTS THAT THEY HAVE TO FIX BY DISQUALIFYING OWNERS ACCORDING TO MILEAGE. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE HAT SHOULD NOT TAKE 4 MONTHS OR MORE TO NOTIFY OWNERS OR DETERMINE WHICH CTS IS TO BE RECALL. THE NSTA SHOULD PUSH FOR GM AND ALL MANUFACTURERS TO HAVE A CERTAIN DATE WHICH THEY HAVE TO NOTIFY OWNERS TO HAVE THE SAFETY PROBLEM FIXED. ANY DAY THAT PASSES BY IT INCREASES THE LIKELIHOOD OF A CADILLAC OWNER OR PERSONS GETTING SERIOUSLY HURT BECAUSE OF A MANUFACTURERS DELAYING OR SLOW TO REACT TACTICS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SEAT MAT SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THERE WAS A RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 10V644000 (AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:SENSOR/CONTROL MODULE); HOWEVER THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. I HAVE A CADILLAC CTS 2006 AND MY AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON FOR NO REASON. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE CADILLAC DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THEY FOUND OUT THAT THE FRONT SENSOR CONTROL MODULE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I CALLED GM MOTORS, BECAUSE I FOUND OUT THE SAME SENSOR IS RECALLED FOR CADILLAC CTS MODELS 2005-2006 AND THE CAMPAIGN ID # IS 10V644000, HOWEVER GM TOLD ME THAT MY CAR IS TOO OLD TO HONOR THE RECALL AND THEY REFUSE TO REPLACE IT. HERE IS THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER :10V644000 THAT STATS: "NON-DEPLOYMENT OF THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH NECESSITATING THAT AIR BAG'S DEPLOYMENT MAY REDUCE PROTECTION OF THE PASSENGER AND INCREASE THE RISK OR SEVERITY OF INJURY TO THEM... DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE PASSENGER SENSING SYSTEM FREE OF CHARGE..GM SAFETY RECALL NO. 100355" I AM NOT SURE WHY MY CAR IS TOO OLD FOR THEM AND NOT QUALIFYING FOR THE RECALL SINCE IS THE EXACT YEAR FOR THE RECALL 2006, THE EXACT MODEL - CTS, WITH THE EXACT PROBLEM DESCRIPTION FOR THE RECALL. FAILED INSPECTION ON 2006 CADILLAC CTS BECAUSE 3RD LED BRAKELIGHT WAS NOT WORKING FULLY, I STILL HAVE WORKING BRAKE LIGHTS BUT WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GET STICKER RELATED TO SAFETY FAILURE IF THIS A SAFETY ISSUE THEN WHY ARE THERE SO MANY OTHER CADILLAC CTS WITH SAME EXACT PROBLEM. I HAVE A 2006 CADILLAC CTS,WHILE ON VACATION I NOTICED MY CAR NEEDED TO BE INSPECTED SO I DECIDED TO GET IT INSPECTED WHEN I GET TO MY DESTINATION ON MY WAY IN MY (PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG LIGHT ) COMES ON WHEN I TAKE IT TO GET INSPECTED IT FAILED SO I TOOK IT TO THE NEAREST CADILLAC DEALER TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME A 100 DOLLARS TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM I TOLD THEM I WOULD BE BACK. I WENT ONLINE TO SEE ABOUT RESETTING THE LIGHT AND A LOT OF RECALLS FOR THIS PROBLEM SHOWED UP I THEN CALLED THE CADILLAC ASSISTANCE 800 # TALKED TO A FEW PEOPLE THEY WERE AWARE OF THE RECALL BUT TOLD ME I HAVE TO WAIT AND SEE IF MY CAR FALLS UNDER THE RECALL SO I TRIED TO GET THE NUMBER TO THE CORP AND THEY WOULDN'T GIVE IT TO ME AND TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING FOR ME NOW I HAVE A REJECTED INSPECTION ON MY CAR AND CAN NOT GO TO WORK YOU WOULD THINK THAT IF THEY ARE HAVING SO MANY COMPLAINTS THAT THEY WOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CADILLAC CTS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE WARNING INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHICH CONFIRMED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MECHANIC ALSO RECOMMENDED THAT THE VEHICLE BE REPAIRED BY THE DEALER UNDER NHTSA RECALL NUMBER 10V644000 AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:SENSOR/CONTROL MODULE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY INFORMED HIM THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 64,000.
THE SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND HAS DEACTIVATED THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG. THE PROBLEM IS BEING CAUSED BY THE PASSENGER SEAT SENSOR. THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE THAT IS ALREADY ON THE RECALL FOR 2005-2007 CADILLAC CTS, BUT ACCORDING TO THE CADILLAC DEALER, THE RECALL DOES NOT INVOLVE MY VIN. I SUGGEST THAT THE NHSTA REVIEW THE RECALL AND ADD ALL 2005 - 2007 CADILLAC CTS VEHICLES THAT DISPLAY THE AIR BAG ERROR BE INCLUDED ON THE RECALL.

A WEEK AFTER I PURCHASED A 2006 CADILLAC CTS IN NOVEMBER, 2010, THE SERVICE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER (BECAUSE I HAD PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY THROUGH THEM). THEY TOLD ME THEY ORDERED THE PART NECESSARY AND THAT IT WOULD BE VERY EXPENSIVE TO FIX IT. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND OUT ABOUT A GM RECALL. TIME HAS GONE BY AND THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. I CALLED THE NUMBER GIVEN FOR THE CADILLAC DIVISION INCLUDED IN THE ARTICLE ABOUT THE RECALL. THE GENTLEMAN TOLD ME MY VEHICLE (BASED UPON MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. I TOLD THE GENTLEMAN THAT SOMEONE WAS TO TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM BECAUSE IF I HAD AN ACCIDENT AND THE BAD DID NOT DEPLOY CAUSING INJURY OR DEATH TO MY PASSENGER, I WOULD SUE GM. I GUESS THAT GOT HIS ATTENTION BECAUSE ARRANGEMENTS WERE MADE AND MY CAR IS IN THE SHOP NOW BEING REPAIRED. THAT GENTLEMAN ISSUED A SERVICE REQUEST #71-926652841 AND HAS CALLED ME BACK A COUPLE OF TIMES. HE KEEPS WANTING ME TO SAY I AM NOW SATISFIED. I WILL NOT BE SATISFIED UNTIL THE SAFETY ISSUE HAS BEEN SOLVED. I PURCHASED A USED CADILLAC CTS FROM BILL JACOBS IN JOLIET, IL (JEFFERSON ST.) I PAID FOR THE CAR WITH MY TRADE A 07 HUMMER H3 IN PERFECT WORKING ORDER. I WAS ALSO TO RECEIVE PAYMENT IN CASH FROM THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE DIFFERENCE, WHICH TO DATE I HAVE NOT RECEIVED. WITHIN 24 HOURS THE CAR STARTED TO VIBRATE, I CONTACTED THE DEALER PRIOR TO 24 HOURS BEING UP AND NOTIFIED THEM THAT THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE CAR, THAT HAD ALREADY BEEN CERTIFIED BY THE DEALERSHIP MECHANICS. I BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE, AND WAS GIVEN A LOANER. I EXPLAINED TO SEVERAL REPRESENTATIVES THAT I WAS CONCERNED THAT THE CAR WAS NOT RELIABLE AND DID NOT HAVE A GOOD FEELING ABOUT KEEPING THE CAR DUE TO IT BEING CERTIFIED BY A MECHANIC AND STILL HAVING MECHANICAL DIFFICULTIES. THE DEALER OFFERED TO FIX THE VEHICLE, I OBLIDGED. THE SERVICE MANAGER STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE TIRES, POSSIBLY DUE TO THE RIMS BUT HE NEEDED ADDITIONAL TIME TO DETERMINE WHAT THE ISSUE WAS. I SPOKE WITH THE SALES MANAGER AND TOLD HIM THAT MY CONFIDENCE IN HIS DEALERSHIP WAS 0 AND THAT I WANTED TO JUST GIVE THEM THE CADILLAC BACK AND TAKE MY RELIABLE CAR BACK. JOHN THE MANAGER STATED THAT WAS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. I EXPLAINED TO HIM THAT THE CAR WAS SOLD WITH A MECHANICAL DEFECT AND THAT I HAD NO CONFIDENCE THAT THIS WOULD BE A RELIABLE CAR. I WENT INTO THE DEALERSHIP TODAY (09/11) THE THIRD DAY WITH NO CAR AND EXPLAINED THAT I WAS NOT COMFORTABLE WITH THE DEALERSHIP OR THIER ABILITY TO PROVIDE A RELIABLE CAR TO ME IN THE PRICE RANGE THAT HAD BEEN NEGOTIATED WITH THE PREVIOUS DEAL. 2006 CTS. WHILE IN BUMPER TO BUMPER TRAFFIC I FELT THE CAR "HYDROPLANE" FOR A SECOND. IT WASN'T RAINING AND I SAW NOTHING IN THE REAR VIEW MIRROR TO CAUSE IT. MY 2006 CADILLAC CTS WITH A 3.6L V6 STARTED BURNING OIL EXCESSIVELY AT ABOUT 25,000 MILES. IT NOW HAS ABOUT 31,000 MILES AND BURNS A QUART EVERY 800 MILES. I DRIVE ABOUT 6500 MILES PER YEAR, MOSTLY IN SHORT DISTANCE CITY DRIVING. THE CAR STILL DRIVES WELL AND IT STILL PASSES THE TEXAS VEHICLE INSPECTION WHICH INCLUDES EMISSIONS TESTING. THE OIL GETS BLACK QUICKLY AFTER A CHANGE. THIS OIL CONSUMPTION IS EXCESSIVE FOR SUCH A LOW MILEAGE CAR. *TR
