DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH UNDER NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, THE REAR TIRES LOCKED. THERE WERE NO WARNINGS PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE SERVICE DEALER, WHO DETERMINED THAT THE REAR AXLE FRACTURED.*AK THE REAR PINION SEALS LEAKED WHICH CAUSED THE AXLE TO SEIZE. UPDATED 01/19/07. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CADILLAC CTS. WHILE DRIVING 50 -70 MPH, THE HEADLIGHTS AND INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS DIMMED. THE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AGAIN MINUTES LATER. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY USUALLY AFTER DRIVING FOR 2 HOURS. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ALSO FAILED DURING THE DAYTIME. ONSTAR STATED THAT THE LIGHTS DO NOT REMAIN OFF LONG ENOUGH TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 20,000. UPDATED 03-04-08 *BF THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL WAS NOISY, THE ABS WOULD ENGAGE ON THEIR OWN
NEW (4 MONTH OLD) CTS WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO PASS ANOTHER CAR, CTS SEEMED TO SLOW DOWN. THE CAR BACKFIRED AND BLEW WHITE SMOKE. THE REAR OF THE CAR MADE A LOUD NOISE AS IF GRINDING AND LOUD RUMBLES. COMPUTER DID NOT DID NOT DETECT MALFUNCTION. DEALER DETERMINED REAR END DIFFERENTIAL UNIT MALFUNCTION. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE APPLYING SLIGHT BRAKE PRESSURE AT 55 MPH IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC ON THE HIGHWAY, ALL FOUR WHEELS LOCKED, AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOORBOARD WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO DISENGAGE THE BRAKES BY PUMPING THE PEDAL UP AND DOWN. AFTERWARDS, THE VEHICLE OPERATED AT A REDUCED SPEED, AND HESITATED TO ACCELERATE AS THOUGH BRAKE PRESSURE WAS BEING APPLIED. THE DEALER WAS ALERTED.
MY NEW CADILLAC CTS (PURCHASED IN 3/06) WAS T-BONED. NO AIR BAGS DEPLOYED...I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING MAJOR BACK AND LEG PAINS OF WHICH THE DOCTOR SAID COULD BE RELATED TO FAILURE OF AIR BAG TO DEPLOY. MY CAR WAS FIXED BY A LOCAL CADILLAC DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAVE FAILED REPEATEDLY TO ANSWER OUR CONCERNS. WE CONTACTED CADILLAC AND HAVE HAD NO ONES ATTENTION. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE, BOTH REAR WHEELS LOCKED WITHOUT WARNING RESULTING IN A LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL. THE CONTACT MANAGED TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITHOUT INCIDENT, BUT ALL THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER PANEL LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHO DETERMINED THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AFTER THE DIFFERENTIAL UNIT REPLACEMENT, THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT ALERTED.
AUTOMATIC LIGHT SENSOR DOES NOT SENSE DAYLIGHT FOR 5 MINS AND 23 SECS AT THE LAST TIMING. IN A DAYLIGHT DRIVE OF 12 MILES, THE CAR TURNED NIGHT-TIME LAMPS ON AND OFF 6 TIMES. DEALER SAYS IT IS WORKING AS DESIGNED. THIS HAS JUST STARTED TO HAPPEN THE LAST 12 DAYS. NO LIGHT SETTINGS HAVE BEEN CHANGED SINCE THEY WERE SET WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR. I WAS TOLD BY SHOLZ CADILLAC REPAIR TO WAIT FOR THE LIGHTS TO SENSE THE CHANGE BEFORE DRIVING. HOWEVER, WHAT DO I DO WHEN ENTERING AND EXITING A TUNNEL? WHEN PLACED SIDE BY SIDE WITH A GMC XUV WITH AN AUTOMATIC SENSOR, THE GMC SENSES THE DIFFERENCE IN LIGHT IN 3 SECONDS. THIS DELAY IN MY CADILLAC IS CERTAINLY A SAFETY HAZARD. *NM
2006 CTS BRAKES FAIL WHEN SLOWING TURNING AND BRAKING. *TR
RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM GENERAL MOTORS BACK IN SEPTEMBER 2014,RECALL # 14172 FOR THE IGNITION SWITCH SAFETY PROBLEM. TO DATE I HAVE READ THEIR HAVE BEEN 43 RELATED DEATHS.. I CALLED MY LOCAL CADILLAC DEALERSHIP ON 10/6/2014 AT 2001 N COLLINS ST,ARLINGTON,TX,PHONE 877-584-7149. THEY TOOK ALL MY INFO AND RECALL NBR AND SAID AS SOON AS THE PARTS COME IN THEY WILL CALL ME AND TO SCHEDULE THE APPOINTMENT. WELL IT IS NOW DECEMBER 16,2014 AND I AM STILL WAITING????????? DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE STALLED SUDDENLY AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED EITHER ONE OR TWO UNKNOWN PARTS TO THE COMPUTER OF THE VEHICLE OR THE ENTIRE COMPUTER. THE CONTACT WAS UNSURE OF THE DETAILS OF THE REPAIR. WITHIN 50 MILES FROM THE DEALER, THE VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN. THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE DASH PRIOR TO EACH INCIDENT. AFTER SITTING FOR A WHILE, THE VEHICLE RESTARTED. HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AFTER BOTH INCIDENTS BECAUSE THE CONTACT WAS UNSURE OF THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE. *AK UPDATED 8/7/2006 - *NM
2006 CTS ENGINE RACED AT HIGH SPEEDS WHEN BACKING UP WITHOUT ANY PRESSURE TO THE GAS PEDAL. *TS THE FIRST TIME THE INCIDENT HAPPENED, THERE WAS DAMAGE DONE TO THE DRIVERS SIDE TIRE, HOWEVER THE SECOND INCIDENT RESULTED IN THE VEHICLE RACING DOWN THE DRIVEWAY, ACROSS THE STREET AND INTO A NEIGHBORS HOUSE, WHICH CAUSED CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE TO THE HOUSE AND THE CAR. I OWNED A 2006 CADILLAC CTS AND WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY A COUPLE DEER JUMP IN FRONT OF ME I TRIED TO SWERVE BUT MY TIRE HIT A SOFT SPOT IN THE DIRT A JACKNIFED AND FLIPPED THREE TIME AND NONE OF THE 8 AIRBAGS WENT OFF. *TR
I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH MY CTS - THERE IS LEAK IN MY TRUNK, I NOTICED IT ABOUT 2 MONTHS AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR IN MARCH 2006. I HAVE BROUGHT IT BACK 2 TIMES AND ITS STILL LEAKING. I HAVE JUST RETURNED IT FOR A THIRD TIME TO SEE IF THEY CAN FINALLY FIX IT. THE RUBBER ON THE TOP OF THE FRONT WINDSHIELD CAME OFF. I HAD TO HAVE THAT REPAIRED THAT WAS ABOUT 6 MONTHS AFTER I HAD THE CAR. ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO I OPENED MY TRUNK AND THE METAL SPRING THAT HOLDS THE TRUNK UP BROKE OFF. THAT IS ALSO GETTING REPAIRED. *TR
1. WAS DRIVING MY BLACK 2006 CTS V WITH 1,486 MILES ON IT HOME FROM GETTING FOOD WHEN IT STOPPED WORKING. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND TRIED TO MAKE IT GO. IT WOULDN'T GO. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO CRESTVIEW CADILLAC. 2. THE DEALER SAID THAT MY REAR DIFFERENTIAL FAILED. THEY CLAIM THAT I MUST HAVE BEEN DRAG RACING THE CAR WHICH I HAVE NEVER DONE EVEN ONCE. THEY CLAIM TO HAVE FOUND TRACTION COMPOUND AND THEY ARE TELLING ME THAT MY TIRES ARE NEAR BALD. 3. DEALER WOULD NOT WARRANTY THE CAR. THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL AND THE RIGHT AXLE. *NM
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CADILLAC CTS. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. HE PULLED OVER AND THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED. THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE WAS UNDETERMINED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 12,000.
IN CASE YOU ARE NOT ALREADY AWARE OF THIS, THE TAIL LIGHTS OF SOME NEWER MODEL PASSENGER AUTOMOBILES ARE VISUALLY DISTRACTING BECAUSE THE LIGHT EMITTING DIODE (LED) ARRAY THAT IS USED FOR THE TAIL LIGHTS IS BEING STROBED ON AND OFF, INSTEAD OF BEING ON CONTINUOUSLY. I HAVE NOTICED THIS ON THE LATEST MODEL CADILLAC AND JAGUAR VEHICLES, TO NAME TWO. THE RATE OF STROBING IS HIGH ENOUGH SO THAT YOU DON'T SEE THE FLASHING WHEN LOOKING DIRECTLY AT THE TAILLIGHT. HOWEVER, AS MY EYES MOVE TO SCAN MULTIPLE LANES OF HIGHWAY TRAFFIC AHEAD, I CAN SEE THE STROBING IN MY PERIPHERAL VISION AND MY FIRST REACTION TO THE SUDDEN FLASH IS THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS HAVE COME ON. IT CATCHES MY ATTENTION AND TRICKS MY EYES TO LOOK BACK AT THAT PARTICULAR VEHICLE TO CONFIRM WHETHER OR NOT IT IS INDEED BRAKING. THIS IS DISTRACTING. THE NEWER LED VEHICLE TAIL LIGHTS SHOULD BE ILLUMINATED CONTINUOUSLY (JUST LIKE A GOOD OLD FASHION LIGHT BULB), NOT STROBED ON AND OFF AT A HIGH RATE. *JB

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CADILLAC CTS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE CAN DRIVE COUNTLESS MILES WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ENGAGED. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER SIX TIMES. THE FUEL GAUGE DISPLAYS INACCURATE READINGS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER THREE TIMES FOR THIS FAILURE. SHE HAS TO KEEP A QUARTER TANK OF GAS IN HER TANK OR ELSE THE VEHICLE WILL SHUT OFF. IN ADDITION, THE RADIO CHANGES STATIONS AUTOMATICALLY. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 2,776 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35.
2006 CADILLAC CTS WITH FAULTY BRAKES. CONSUMER STATES THAT ALL THE SERVICEMEN AT THE DEALER COMPLETELY IGNORED HER WHEN SHE GOT THERE FOR THE REPAIR ON HER VEHICLE. SHE BELIEVES THE WORKERS AT THE DEALER ARE PRACTICING RACISM/DISCRIMINATION. *KB THE REAR VIEW MIRROR WAS BROKEN, THE FUEL GAUGE WAS FLUCTUATING, THE BRAKE SYSTEM, ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN SHE TURNED INTO A PARKING SPACE, A LOUD DRAGGING NOISE WAS HEARD AND FELT. EVEN THOUGH HER FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ROLL, AND GROWL. *JB UPDATED 06/09/08
