WHILE DRIVING MY CADILLAC ESCALADE WITH MY FAMILY AND BRAKING AT A LOW SPEED (LESS THAN 15 MPH) THE ABS SYSTEM SEEMED TO HAVE GONE OFF WITHOUT THE ABS LIGHT GOING ON AND SUBSEQUENTLY THIS ALMOST CAUSED ME TO CRASH INTO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME HAD I NOT PULLED TOWARD THE CURB. I WENT ON THE INTERNET TO RESEARCH THE ISSUE AND FOUND THAT THIS IS QUITE A COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS CAR AS MANY OTHER OWNERS HAVE REPORTED IT. SUBSEQUENTLY THEREAFTER THE ISSUE HAS BEEN RE-OCCURRING AND I BROUGHT IT TO MY LOCAL CADILLAC DEALER. I TOLD THE SERVICE CENTER WHAT MY RESEARCH FOUND AND BECAUSE A COMPUTER SCAN DID NOT EVEN PICK UP THE ISSUE THEY DECIDED T IT MIGHT BE DUE TO THE ABS SENSORS BEING DIRTY ALSO THE SERVICE CENTER REPRESENTATIVE AND MECHANIC BOTH SAID TO ME THAT THEY HAVE SEEN THIS ISSUE A NUMBER OF TIMES. THEY CLEANED OFF THIS ABS SENSOR AT WHICH TIME A TEST REVEALED THAT ONE OF THE SENSORS WAS READING IMPROPERLY. SO THEY SAID TO REPAIR IT I NEED TO CHANGE THE ENTIRE WHEEL HUB ASSEMBLY ON THAT SIDE. AFTER THEY CHANGED THAT SIDE AND AFTER ANOTHER TEST DRIVE THE ISSUE STILL RECURRED. THIS TIME THEY SAID MAYBE WE NEED TO CHANGE THE OTHER SIDE AS WELL. NOW THEY ARE IN THE PROCESS OF CHANGING THE OTHER WHEEL HUB ASSEMBLY TO SEE IF THE ISSUE IS CORRECTED. THE COST FOR REPAIRS IS WELL OVER $1200. THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY BUT ONLY HAS 36,000 MILES ON IT AND DRIVES UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS. I TRIED TO CONTACT GM'S CUSTOMER SERVICE WHO ARE OF NO HELP AND ALSO ASKED TO HAVE THIS ISSUE REPORTED FOR SOME TYPE OF REVIEW OR POTENTIAL RECALL. THIS IS A SERIOUS CONCERN AS IT AFFECTS THE BRAKING SYSTEM OF THEIR VEHICLE THAT DOES NOT SEEM DUE TO WEAR OR TEAR BUT AN ISSUE WITH MANUFACTURING. THE SENSOR ITSELF CANNOT EVEN BE SWAPPED OUT, ONLY THE ENTIRE ASSEMBLY. THIS IS QUITE SCARY THAT AT ANY TIME DURING THE ENTIRE PROCESS MY ABS LIGHT DID NOT GO OFF AND IT DID NOT SEEM THAT THE CADILLAC DEALERSHIPS OWN COMPUTERS COULD NOT PROPERLY DIAGNOSIS THE ISSUE. *TR
SEAT HEATER SPONTANEOUSLY BURST INTO FLAME, CATCHING ENTIRE SEAT ON FIRE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CADILLAC ESCALADE EXT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CADILLAC ESCALADE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR HINGE WAS WORN AND HANGING ONE HALF INCH TO THREE QUARTERS OF AN INCH FROM ITS HOUSING. WHENEVER IT WOULD RAIN, WATER WOULD LEAK INTO THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE TOP OF THE DOOR. THE BUSHINGS AND PINS WERE REPLACED IN 2010 BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE FAILURE PERSISTED AND THE DEALER ADVISED THAT A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WOULD BE NEEDED IN ORDER TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NEITHER DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 124,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
WHEN BRAKING AT A LOW SPEED <10MPH THE ABS SYSTEM KICKS IN AND PUSHES THE VEHICLE FORWARD WHEN TRYING TO BRAKE. IT STARTED OCCURING RANDOMLY AND VERY FEW TIMES, BUT NOW IS CONSTANT AND EVERYTIME WHEN SLOWING DOWN. AFTER TAKING IT TO THE DEALER, I HAD 4 NEW TIRES PUT ON, BY SUGGESTION OF THE SHOP, AND IT FAILED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I HAD NUMEROUS CLOSE CALLS AND EVENTUALLY HIT A METER WHEN TRYING TO PARK. THE ABS TRIGGERS A KICKING FEELING THAT ALLOWS THE TRUCK TO CONTINUE MOVING FORWARD AT LEAST 3-5 FEET AFTER THE BRAKE IS APPLIED, EVEN AT VERY LOW SPEEDS <5MPH. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CADILLAC ESCALADE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AND THE BRAKES FAILED. THE CONTACT SHIFTED INTO REVERSE IN ORDER TO GET THE VEHICLE TO STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE STEERING PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THREE YEARS LATER FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 166,000. MY BRAKES ARE STARTING TO GO OUT. AND THE BACK AIR VENTS DON'T WORK SO IT TAKES A WHILE FOR MY DAUGHTER TO GET WARM WHEN IT'S COLD OUT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CADILLAC ESCALADE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE IGNITION INDEPENDENTLY DISENGAGED FROM THE START POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 14V153000 (STEERING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 200,000.
PROBLEM WITH THE ABS SYSTEM ACTIVATING WHEN STOPPING AT A LOW SPEED. *TR
2002 CADILLAC ESCALADE WITH FUEL PUMP FAILURE. CONSUMER STATES WHEN THE FUEL PUMP SHUT DOWN IT BURNED OUT ALL THE FUSES. CONSUMER BELIEVES THAT THE FUEL PUMP WAS DEFECTIVE AND GAVE NO WARNING SIGNS PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. *KB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CADILLAC ESCALADE. THE ABS CONTROL MODULE FAILS WHEN IT IS WET. THE ABS CONTROL MODULE WAS REPLACED ONCE AT THE COST OF $1,300. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THIS WAS A RAMPANT FAILURE AMONG THIS VEHICLE. WHILE DRIVING IN THE RAIN, THE CONTACT DROVE OVER A PUDDLE. SINCE THAT TIME, THE ABS CONTROL MODULE HAS NOT WORKED. GENERAL MOTORS HAS YET TO RESPOND. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 70,000. UPDATED 02-25-08 *BF
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CADILLAC ESCALADE. WHILE DRIVING 3 MPH, THE ABS ACTIVATED WHEN THE BRAKES WERE DEPRESSED. THE STOPPING DISTANCE INCREASED. AS OF DECEMBER 3, 2007, THE DEALER HAD NOT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT FELT THAT HIS VEHICLE SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL FOR THE SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC: ANTILOCK (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 05V379000). THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 38,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CADILLAC ESCALADE. ON SEPTEMBER 3, 2007, THE CONTACT PLUGGED HER TELEVISION INTO THE CIGARETTE LIGHTER AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN SMOKING. THE VEHICLE THEN BECAME ENGULFED IN FLAMES. HER HUSBAND DOUSED THE VEHICLE WITH WATER AND DROVE IT TO THE CADILLAC DEALER. THE CARPET WAS BURNED, THE TRACKING SYSTEM FAILED, AND THE WIRING HARNESS HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE PURCHASE DATE AND POWERTRAIN WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 48,000.
ON 08/27/2007 MY STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM LIGHT WAS ON IN THE DASH BOARD OF MY VEICLE, APPROACHED TRAFFIC LIGHT TRIED TO STOP AND THE BRAKES WOULD NOT WORK, THEN THE VEHICLE ACCELARATED ON ITS OWN. FOR THE GRACE OF GOD I WAS ABLE TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE TRAFFIC BEING LIGHT. I HAD MY 2002 CADILLAC ESCALADE TOWED TO THE NEAREST CADILLAC SERVICE SHOP(KEN DIXON, WALDORF MD) IN THE AREA AT THE TIME. DEALER ADVISED AN ISSUE WITH THE ABS AND THE STABILITY CONTROL UNI ADV COST OF REPAIR $2600 OR MORE, ADVISED BY DEALER NO RECALL ON EITHER OF THESE ISSUES. TO DATE NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE, THE DEALER STILL HAS THE VEHICLE AND HAS YET TO RETURN ANY OF MY CALLS IN REFERENCE TO MY CLAIM. MY 2002 CADILLIAC ESCALADE HAS HAD A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH THE THROTTLE BODY AND POWER TRAIN FOR TWO YEARS I HAVE BEEN TAKING IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY HAVE BEEN NEGLIGENT IN INFORMING ME OF THIS RECALL AND I HAVE ASKED THEM ABOUT THIS PROBLEM ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHAT CAN I DO ABOUT THIS. *TR
I OWN A 2002 CADILLAC STS AND JUST HAD THE BRAKES FAIL , BUT FORTUNATELY NOT IN A WAY THAT THERE WAS A CRASH. I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE WRITER AT SAINT CLARE CADILLAC IN SANTA CLARA, CA THAT THE BRAKE LINE FROM THE MASTER CYLINDER TO THE FRONT BRAKES FAILED DUE TO A DEFECTIVE CLIP. HE STATED THAT THIS WAS THE FOURTH CAR THIS MONTH THAT HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM. THE PLASTIC CLIP COMES LOOSE AND THE BRAKE LINE RUBS AGAINST THE TRANSMISSION HOUSING AND EVENTUALLY FAILS. I WAS VERY LUCKY THAT THIS FAILURE HAPPENED IN MY DRIVEWAY AS I LIVE IN A MOUNTAIN AREA OF SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA. THE BRAKE FAILED BY PUMPING FLUID OUT OF THE HOLE EVERY TIME THE BRAKE WAS DEPRESSED UNTIL THERE WAS INSUFFICIENT FLUID TO KEEP THE PEDAL FROM GOING TO THE FLOOR. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED TO ME. SHOULD NOT THIS BE AN IMMEDIATE RECALL ITEM BY GENERAL MOTORS
TL*- THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CADILLAC ESCALADE AND STATED THAT THE HIGH BEAM/ LOW BEAM HARNESS ON THE STEERING COLUMN SHORTED OUT. THE CONTACT HAD NOT TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE CONTACT COULD PROVIDE PICTURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,800, AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 10,000. *AK
RECENTLY, MY VEHICLE WAS PRESENTED TO FIRESTONE FOR STATE INSPECTION. THE VEHICLE INVOLVED IN THIS COMPLAINT IS A 2002 CADILLAC ESCALADE EXT. FOLLOWING THE INSPECTION, I WAS INFORMED THE VEHICLE'S PARKING BRAKE WOULD NOT HOLD THE VEHICLE. I WAS FURTHER INFORMED THAT THIS PROBLEM WAS PREVELANT IN THE CADILLAC ESCALADE PRODUCTION LINE AND SIMILAR SERIES SUCH AS THE CHEVEROLET AVALANCHE. THE ASSOCIATE ATTRIBUTED THE MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE TO THE MANUFACTURER'S NEGLECT TO ADOPT AN EFFECTIVE RETAINING CLIP WHICH RESULTS IN PREMATURE WEAR OF THE PARKING BRAKE SHOES. THIS DEFECT NOT ONLY COMPROMISES THE EFFICIENCY OF THE PARKING BRAKE, BUT PREMATURELY WEARS AND SIGNIFICANTLY DAMAGES THE ROTORS OF THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO ENGAGE THE PARKING BRAKE. DUE TO THIS MANUFACTURER DEFECT, MY VEHICLE FAILED INSPECTION AND IS PENDING OVER $500.00 IN REPAIRS TO CORRECT THE SAFETY ISSUE. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PRESENTED TO A BRAKE SHOP, THE TECHNICIANS WERE UNABLE TO DISASSEMBLE THE REAR DRIVERSIDE HUB TO ACCESS THE PARKING BRAKE SHOES. A BOLT WHICH NEEDED TO BE REMOVED WAS LOCK-TITE TO THE POINT OF PERMANENT AND STATIC FIXTURE (WITH THE ONLY METHOD OF REMOVAL BEING THE GRIND OR CUT THE BOLT OUT). BECAUSE OF THESE ISSUES, I AM UNABLE TO PASS SAFETY INSPECTIONS IN THE STATE OF TEXAS. THE PARKING BRAKE WAS NEVER ENGAGED WHILE DRIVING AND NEVER ENGAGED TO CREATE FRICTION WITH THE MOVING WHEELS. WHEN THE PARKING BRAKE IS DEPRESSED, THE LEVER MOTIONS WITH LITTLE RESISTANCE ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOORBOARD.
DEFECTIVE EQUIPMENT. IGNITION SWITCH BROKE. AAA SENT LOCKSMITH. LOCKSMITH SAID HE HAS CHANGED APPROX. 14 OF THESE IN LAST 1 AND 1/2 WEEKS. BRASS PART AND SPRING BREAK OFF LEAVING IGNITION DEAD/UNABLE TO START OR MOVE VEHICLE. I WAS FORTUNATE THIS HAPPENED IN MY DRIVEWAY AND NOT OUT ON THE ROAD. $347.00 LATER AND IT CAN HAPPEN AGAIN AT ANY TIME. BEFORE LOCKSMITH SHOWED UP CADILLAC WANTED TO DISCONNECT TRANSMISSION AND DROP DRIVE SHAFT PLACE ON FLATBED TO TRANSPORT TO DEALERSHIP. WHAT WOULD THAT HAVE COST ME? CONSUMERS SHOULD NOT BE HELD HOSTAGE WITH THIS POOR QUALITY PART. *NM
BRAKING SYSTEM ON OUR 2002 CADILLAC ESCALADE REVERTS TO ANTI-LOCK MODE AT LOW SPEED 5 MPH OR LESS. THIS HAS CAUSED A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION WITH THE VEHICLE FAILING TO STOP AND ROLLING THROUGH STOP SIGNS AND RED LIGHTS. THE ONLY WAY TO AVOID THIS, IS TO BEGIN STOPPING WELL IN ADVANCE OF DESIRED STOPPING POINT AND HOPING IT STOPS. I WILL BE BRINGING IN TO BE REPAIRED HOWEVER I WOULD BELIEVE THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL AS THIS SITUATION WILL IF IT HASN'T ALREADY LED TO A DEATH. *JB
I PURCHASED A 2002 CADILLAC ESCALADE THAT HAS EXPERIENCED SLOW-SPEED BRAKING PROBLEMS FROM THE FIRST DATE OF PURCHASE. INITIALLY I THOUGHT THAT IT MAY BE THE BRAKE SHOES OR ROTORS, HOWEVER, I HAVE HAD THE BRAKE SHOES AND ROTORS REPLACED ON THE FRONT AND BACK OF THE VEHICLE. THE PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKING HAVE PERSISTED. THE ABS IS TRIGGERED WHEN DRIVEN AT LOW SPEEDS USUALLY UNDER 15 MILES PER HOUR WHEN THE CONDITIONS DO NOT WARRANT IT. CONSEQUENTLY, I HAVE ALMOST WRECKED DUE TO THE DEFECTIVE OPERATION OF THE BRAKES AND I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND CONCERNED WITH THE SAFETY OF MY WIFE AND THREE SMALL CHILDREN. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY A DEALERSHIP THAT POTENTIALLY THE PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM INVOLVES THE FRONT, WHEEL SPEED SENSOR MOUNTING SURFACE ON THE BEARING. SUPPOSEDLY RUST OR CORROSION COULD DETRIMENTALLY AFFECT THE PEAK-TO-PEAK OUTPUT VOLTAGE. THE WHEEL BEARING HUB ASSEMBLY SENSOR PROBLEM CAUSES FALSE WHEEL SPEED READINGS WHICH SENDS ERRONEOUS WHEEL SPEED READINGS TO THE VEHICLE''S COMPUTER. THE COMPUTER INTERPRETS THIS READING AS A NEED FOR THE COMPUTER TO CONTINUE ACTIVATING THE ABS TO PREVENT WHEEL LOCKUP. HOWEVER, IF ABS IS STILL TRIGGERING AT VERY LOW SPEEDS, IT PREVENTS THE WHEELS FROM COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP BECAUSE IT CONTINUALLY RELEASES AND APPLIES THE BRAKES AT VERY LOW SPEEDS (UNDER 15 MILES AN HOUR). THIS TYPE OF DEFECT COULD HAVE NEAR FATAL OUTCOMES ESPECIALLY IN A HILLY AND MOUNTAINOUS TERRAIN LIKE THAT OF WEST VIRGINIA. DUE TO THIS PRE-EXISTING MATERIAL DEFECT IN THE VEHICLE WHICH AFFECTS AN EXTREMELY INTEGRAL PART OF THE OPERATION, RENDERING IT UNDRIVEABLE; I EXPECT GENERAL MOTORS/CADILLAC TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AT NO COST TO ME, THE CONSUMER. IT WOULD BE EXTREMELY NEGLIGENT TO HAVE NOTICE ABOUT A MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND IGNORE YOUR DUTY OF CARE TO REMEDY THIS PROBLEM, ESPECIALLY IN LIGHT OF THE LOW COST REMEDY AVAILABLE TO RECALL AND FIX IT. ALL WHEEL DRIVE TRANSFER CASE DEFECTIVE. WHEELS LOCK AND "HOBBLE" IN LOW SPEED TURNS. *NM
AT SLOW SPEEDS (<5 MPH) THE ABS SYSTEM ENGAGES DURING THE COURSE OF NORMAL BRAKING. THIS RESULTS IN THE CAR BEING UNABLE TO STOP WITHIN EXPECTED STOPPING DISTANCE AND LED ME TO BUMP INTO A CAR STOPPED AT AN INTERSECTION. THE PROBLEM CANNOT BE LINKED TO WORN BRAKE PADS AS THESE WERE REPLACAED ONLY 4 MONTHS PREVIOUSLY. DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. *NM
DURING A U-TURN, ON A 4-LANE STREET THE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES STOPPED WORKING. I WASN'T ABLE TO STEER OR STOP. THE STEERING BECAME VERY HARD AS WELL AS THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE CADILLAC DEALER SUGGESTED IT WAS THE POWER STEERING PUMP AND CHANGED IT UNDER MY WARRANTY. I PICKED THE CAR UP 1 WEEK LATER AFTER BEING TOLD THAT MY CAR WAS FIXED. AFTER LEAVING THE DEALER, I STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND MY BREAK PEDAL BEGAN VIBRATING AND AGAIN I WAS NOT ABLE TO STEER THE CAR. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER AND ALLOWED HIM TO TALK ME INTO KEEPING THE CAR FOR THE WEEKEND (IT WAS A FRIDAY AND NO MECHANICS WORKED THE WEEKEND). AGAIN I LEFT THE DEALER AND CAREFULLY ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE THE CAR HOME. I WAS STOPPED BEHIND A CAR MAKING A LEFT TURN AND AS I ATTEMPTED TO REMOVE MYSELF FROM BEHIND THE CAR BY CHANGING LANES, I REALIZED THAT THE CAR WILL NOT TURN UNLESS MOVING. I WENT BACK TO THE DEALER AND DEMANDED THAT THEY KEEP THE CAR UNTIL FIXED. ONE WEEK LATER (THE FOLLOWING FRIDAY) I WAS CALLED TO PICK UP MY CAR AGAIN. I WAS TOLD THAT THE NEW POWER STEERING PUMP WAS BAD AND THEY HAD REPLACED IT WITH ANOTHER NEW ONE. THIS TIME THE STEERING WHEEL WAS JERKY, AND THE BRAKES VIBRATED A LITTLE LESS THAN BEFORE. IN ADDITION, THE BATTERY LIGHT WAS BLINKING ON AND OFF AND THE CHARGE WAS AT APPX. 9 VOLTS. I LEFT THE CAR AGAIN. THE NEXT FRIDAY I PICKED UP MY CAR AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT FOR ABOUT A WEEK AND A HALF ALL THE WHILE KNOWING THAT IT STILL WASN'T RIGHT. THIS TIME THE STEERING WAS LESS JERKY (BUT JERKY NEVERTHELESS) WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKE, THE FRONT END WAS CLUMPING WHEN I WENT OVER BUMPS, THERE WAS WAY TOO MUCH PLAY IN THE STEERING WHEEL, AND THE CAR IS WHISTLING WHILE DRIVING AND IDLING. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS WHERE THE ASC SENSOR WAS REPLACED. EACH TIME REPLACEMENT HAS NOT REMEDIED THE PROBLEM. A MANUFACTURER REPRESENTATIVE INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND DETERMINED NO REPAIRS ARE AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THE FLUID IN THE POWER UNIT FOR THE BRAKES AND POWER STEERING WAS CONTAMINATED BECAUSE OF A BROKEN SEAL, CAUSING THE FAILURE. THE POWER UNIT WAS REPLACED, AND THE OTHER UNITS CONNECTED TO THIS WERE DRAINED AND REFILLED. UPDATED 3/28/2006 - *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE SERVICE STABILITY SYSTEM LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE SENSOR WAS REPLACED THE FIRST TIME. THE PROBLEM RETURNED, BUT THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT REPAIR UNLESS THE LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED WHILE AT THE DEALERSHIP. ALSO, THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT LOCKED UP WITHOUT BRAKING. THE SEATBELT HAS BEEN REPLACED 3-4 TIMES, BUT THE PROBLEM PERSIST. THE DEALERSHIP SUGGESTED A SEATBELT EXTENSION BE INSTALLED, BUT THE PROBLEM OCCURRED NO MATTER THE SIZE OF THE PASSENGER.
ABS BRAKES/BRAKE SYSTEM: BOUGHT A PRE-OWNED CADILLAC ESCALADE 2002, AFTER IT REACHED ABOUT 75000 MILES, ABS SYSTEM MAKES A LOUD GRINDING NOISE WHEN U PRESS THE BRAKES, EXTREMELY LOUD,BROUGHT THE TRUCK TO A CADILLAC DEALERSHIP CLAIMED THEY DIDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG.....SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE RECALLED WITH THESE TRUCKS IN REGARDS TO THE ABS SYSTEMS.....NEVER MADE THAT SOUND BEFORE WHEN I HAD OWNED IT FOR ABOUT A YEAR, AFTER A YEAR STARTED TO MAKE A HORRIBLE UNSAFE LOUD NOISE WHEN U PRESS THE BRAKES....FEEL VERY UNSAFE IN THE VEHICLE..... 9:30 AM ON FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 10, 2006. 2002 CADILLAC ESCALADE EXT. ATTEMPTED TO STOP ON A RESIDENTIAL ROAD IN AN EFFORT TO BACK INTO A DRIVEWAY. I WAS MOVING AT A VERY LOW SPEED (LESS THAN 5 MPH) AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SLOW AND CONTINUED OFF THE ROAD AND INTO A CULVERT. STRUCK A TREE AND THERE WAS AN ESTIMATED $2,500 TO 5,000 IN DAMAGES (NO INJURIES). ROAD CONDITIONS: SNOW, BUT NOT SLICK PHOTOS WERE TAKEN IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING ACCIDENT. IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED CADILLAC CERTIFIED DEALER FOR SERVICE. DEALER STATED THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE THE CONDITIONS AND/OR SITUATION. DEALER SUGGESTED I CONTACT GM DIRECTLY TO DOCUMENT MY CONCERNS. SPOKE WITH CHERYL DANBEY AND BARBARA GREEN OF THE PRODUCT ALLEGATION DEPARTMENT. DT: THE CONTACT STATED THE ABS ACTIVATED AT LESS THAN 30 MPH. WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES THERE WAS A CHATTERING SOUND COMING FROM THE BRAKE PEDAL. THIS WAS ON ONGOING PROBLEM. THE FIRST OCCURRENCE HAPPENED IN SEPTEMBER 2004. THE DEALERSHIP REMOVED THE CORROSION FROM THE ABS SENSORS. THE PROBLEM DID NOT RETURN UNTIL DECEMBER 23, 2005. I OWN AN AUTO REPAIR SHOP AND HAVE SEEN THE RECALL # 05V161000 REGARDING THE PARKING BRAKE DEFECT WITH GMC AND CHEVROLET PICKUPS. THE SAME PROBLEM ALSO EXISTS ON THE SUVS OF THE SAME BASIC DESIGN, 2000 AND NEWER TAHOES, SUBURBAN, ESCALADE, ETC. EVERY ONE OF THESE I SEE IN MY SHOP WITH OVER 35,000 MILES HAS A WORN PARKING BRAKE, USUALLY RUINING THE ROTORS WHEN THEY SCRAPE METAL TO METAL. I ALWAYS HESITATE TO PARK NEAR ONE OF THE VEHICLES IN A HILLY AREA, SINCE I KNOW THE PARKING BRAKE IS USUALLY NON-EXISTENT. *NM
I AM CURRENTLY HAVING A RE-OCCURING PROBLEM WITH THE STABILITY TRACK. I HAVE HAD IT SERVICED FOUR TIMES NOW TO NO AVAIL. EACH TIME I TAKE IT IN THEY TELL ME IT IS A COMPUTER PROBLEM, AND THAT IT JUST NEED TO BE RESET. I HAVE YET TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT, BUT TODAY I ALMOST DID. WHILE GOING TO THE CURB ENTERING THE FREEWAY THE STEERING WENT CRAZY AND THE SERVICE STABILITY TRACK NOTICE APPEARED. AFTER I ENTERED THE HIGHWAY THE VEHICLE STILL WAS JERKING UNCONTROLABLE. I TURNED OF THE STABILITY TRAC BUTTON IN HOPES OF GAINING CONTROL. THE VEHICLE STILL NOTED THE PROBLEM EVEN AFTER BEING TURNED OFF. I AGAIN HAVE TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP IN WOODLAND WHO STATED IT HAD TO BE MY 22" WHEELS. BUT, I FIND THIS HIGHLY UNLIKELY SINCE THE DEALERSHIP ORIGINALLY OFFERED IT TO ME UPON BUYING AND I HAD THIS PROBLEM THREE TIMES BEFORE WITH THE ORIGINAL 17' TIRES. I DO MAINTAIN A RECORD OF ALL SERVICES AND I HAVE A COPY OF WHEN I PURCHASED THE WHEELS, WHICH WAS NOT UNTIL RECENTLY. THIS IS THE SECOND ESCALADE FROM GM THE FIRST ONE WAS DECLARED A LEMON AND THIS ONE APPEARS TO BE TURNING OUT TO BE ONE ALSO.
PARKED VEHICLE IN STORE PARKING LOT TO SHOP , WHEN I RETURNED TO THE VEHICLE AND ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE OFF THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE . THE VEHICLE TRANSMISSION GEARS WERE STUCK. THE VEHICLE TRANSMISSION DID NOT SLIP, IT WAS AS IF I TRYING TO PULL A BUILDING DOWN. I HAD TO PAY FOR NEW TRANSMISSION. *TR
ONGOING PROBLEM WITH BRAKES. HAVE HAD THEM REPLACED TWICE IN THE PAST YEAR EVEN THOUGH ONLY 15,000 MILES BETWEEN REPLACEMENTS. BRAKES CONTINUE TO MAKE LOUD AND STRANGE NOISE, LIKE THE ABS IS ACTIVATED, WHEN BRAKING AT LOW SPEEDS (UNDER 10 MPH). VEHICLE APPEARS NOT TO STOP VERY QUICKLY WHEN BRAKING AT LOW SPEEDS. THIS HAPPENS CONSISTENTLY.
THIS COMPLAINT IS RELATED TO THE RECENT OPENING OF INVESTIGATION OF LOW SPEED ABS ACTIVATION IN GM C/K MODELS. I HAVE A 2002 CADILLAC ESCALADE WITH 117K MILES. I HAD BEEN EXPERIENCING WHEEL CYLINDER ACTIVATION FOR A PERIOD OF TIME. (ONE WHEEL) ON TWO RECENT OCCASIONS, BOTH WHILE ON A DOWNGRADE, ROLLING AT APPROXIMATELY 3 MPH, I EXPERIENCED FULL BLOWN 4 WHEEL ABS ACTIVATION, NEARLY COLLIDING WITH THE VEHICLES IN FRONT OF ME. I WENT TO THE DEALER AND HAD TO HAVE HUBS AND ROTORS REPLACED. NOT SURE IF THEY REPLACED OR JUST CLEANED THE SENSORS. ISSUE SHOULD BE A RECALL, COST ME $1000.00+.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE PASSENGER SIDE ABS SENSOR, FRONT AND REAR ROTORS, MASTER CYLINDER AND FOUR BRAKE CALIPERS WERE REPLACED. MOST RECENTLY, THE ENTIRE BRAKE LINE RUSTED AND WAS ALSO REPLACED WHICH REQUIRED THE BODY OF THE VEHICLE TO BE DISENGAGED FROM THE FRAME TO PERFORM THE REPAIR. DT: THE CONSUMER WAS IN A PARKING LOT DRIVING 10 MPH, WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR ACCELERATED. THE CONSUMER HIT A CONCRETE SLAB AND RIPPED IT OUT OF ASPHALT, AND WAS UP ON TOP OF IT. THE CONCRETE SLAB WAS 21/2 X4 FEET; THE CAR WAS STILL ACCELERATING VERY LOUDLY. SHE PULLED HER FOOT AWAY AND LOOKED AND THERE WAS NOTHING TOUCHING THE GAS PEDAL. THE PASSENGER SIDE BACK SEAT HEATER GETS SO HOT YOU CAN SEE THE COIL IMPRINT IN THE LEATHER. THIS CONCERNS ME. WILL THIS START A FIRE?*JB
ABS SYSTEM ACTIVATED AT SLOW SPEEDS (<10MPH). RESULTED IN BRAKING CHATTER, BRAKE PEDAL COMING UP AND BEING HARD TO DEPRESS. THE EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE CAUSED DRIVER TO USE EMERGENCY BRAKING TO AVOID COLLISIONS WITH VEHICLES AT LIGHTS AND INTERSECTIONS. INITIALLY FIXED AS WORN BRAKE PADS. PROBLEM PERSISTED. RETURNED TO DEALER, HAD ABS SENSORS REPLACED. PROBLEM RECURRED (WORSE) WITHIN 8 MOS, DEALER INFORMED ME THAT ABS SENSORS HAD NOT DETECTED PROBLEM. BRAKES WORN. REAR BEARING REPLACED, FRONT BEARING TIGHTED, DEALER SUGGESTED PERIODIC CHECKS, MAY NEED REPLACEMENT IN FUTURE. THIS CALL IS LESS THAT 3 YEARS OLD, 60K MILES, BEARING SHOULD NOT BE GOING BAD. THIS CAR WAS NOT IN AN ACCIDENT, NOR CURBS STRUCK, NOT WAS IT SETTING UN-USED FOR ANY LENGTH OF TIME. THESE ARE SCENARIOS THE DEALER TRIED TO EXPLAIN TO ME WHY WHEEL BEARING WENT BAD WITH 60K MILES. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CADILLAC ESCALADE. IMMEDIATELY AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE ON DECEMBER 12, 2003, THE CONTACT FELT A VIBRATION WHILE ATTEMPTING TO BRAKE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE BRAKES WERE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE, BUT NO REPAIR WAS MADE. IN JUNE OF 2004, THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER AND THEY ROTATED, MOUNTED, AND BALANCED FOUR NEW TIRES. AFTER THE REPAIR, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SLOW DOWN WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AGAIN AND THEY STATED THAT THE REAR BRAKE PADS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND REPAIRED. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE REAR BRAKE PADS, ROTORS, AND REAR BRAKE SHOES. THIS SPECIFIC FAILURE HAS BEEN ONGOING FOR THE PAST THREE YEARS. RECENTLY, THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED FAILURE WITH THE ABS, WHICH CAUSED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO EXTEND TO THE FLOOR. THE VEHICLE WOULD ALSO ACCELERATE AND VIBRATE WHILE BRAKING. SHE RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE HUB BEARINGS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE IS NO LONGER BEING DRIVEN DUE TO THE CONSTANT FAILURES WITH THE BRAKES AND ABS. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 110,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
WHILE DRIVING,THE SRS LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD AND REMAINED ON. THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. PLEASE FILL IN ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *JB
WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT. AFTER CHECKING THE TIRES CONSUMER NOTICED THAT THE TIRE ON FRONT LEFT HAD A SPLIT DOWN THE MIDDLE OF THE TREAD THAT WAS CAUSING IT TO SEPARATE. AFTERWARDS, WHILE DRIVING HEARD NOISES THAT SOUNDED LIKE RUBBER HITTING UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. CHECKED THE TIRES, AND NOTICED THAT THE REAR LEFT TIRE BLEW OUT AND THE STEEL BELTS WERE COMING THROUGH IT. *AK. CONSUMER OWNED TWO CADILLAC ESCALADE. OODYEAR TIRES WORE OUT AT APPROXIMATELY 25,000 MILES. *AK
WHILE DRIVING THE MASTER CYLINDER FAILED WHICH CAUSED THE DRIVER TO RUN A RED LIGHT AND HIT A CURB. *NM THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THERE WERE NO BRAKES AND NO POWER STEERING. ON THE FIRST OCCASION, THE VEHICLE HAD RUN INTO THE PHARMACY PARKING LOT CURB AND GRASS TO SLOW DOWN. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED A NEW VEHICLE AND OR REFUND. THE DASH DISPLAY KEPT GOING OUT, SEVERAL FUNCTIONS OF PROGRAMMING DID NOT WORK AND THE CD PLAYER HAD TO BE REPLACED TWICE. *SC *JB

THE STEERING WHEEL HAS A LOT OF PLAY IN IT. WHEN ACCELERATING STEERING WHEEL PULLS TO THE RIGHT. WHEN STEPPING OFF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL STEERING GOES TO THE LEFT. DEALERSHIP IS TELLING THE CONSUMER THAT THERE IS NO PROBLEM. GENRAL MOTORS FIELD REPRESENTATIVE SAYS THAT THE VEHICLE IS OPERATING WITHIN SPECIFICATIONS. CONSUMER IS UNHAPPY WITH THE FINDINGS, AND WOULD LIKE TO GET THIS PROBLEM RESOLVED. *AK
