CAR WAS SLUGGISH AND WOULD STALL AT TIMES, EITHER WHEN BACKING UP OR INCREASING IN SPEED. TRANSMISSION COOLING LINES CRACKED. *AK
DT: THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CADILLAC ESCALADE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ABS SYSTEM ACTIVATED AT LOW SPEEDS. THIS RESULTED IN EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCES, AND THERE WAS NO WAY TO CONTROL WHEN THE VEHICLE WILL STOP. THE BRAKE PEDAL CAME UP AND WAS VERY HARD TO DEPRESS. THE VEHICLE SKIDDED WHEN TRYING TO USE THE BRAKES. THE SERVICE DEALER STATED THAT IT WAS THE SAME ISSUE AS IN THE RECALL FOR OTHER GENERAL MOTOR VEHICLES, BUT THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE SERVICE DEALER STATED THEY WOULD HAVE TO CLEAN THE WHEEL SPEED SENSORS, AND IF THAT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM ,THEY WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE WHEEL SPEED SENSORS. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL, AND THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE AT HER EXPENSE.*AK
VEHICLE ACCLERATED AT HIGH RPM ON ITS OWN. *AK
I WAS ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK WHEN MY TRUNK JUST STOPPED ON A BUSY STREET(ORCHARD LAKE ROAD) A LADY BEHIND ME ALMOST HIT ME,SHE RAN ALL UP ON THE SIDEWALK.THIS HAS HAPPEN BEFORE,AND NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS.THIS TRUNK IS UN SAFE FOR THE ROAD.*AK
THERE WAS INTERMITTENT STALLING. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM WHEN THE CONSUMER WOULD HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE CONSUMER FELT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. *AK THE CONSUMER SMELLED WIRES BURNING, THE CHECK ENGINE WAS ON, THE SEAL FOR THE REAR HATCH LEAKED WATER, THERE WAS A LONG CRANK WITH THE ENGINE WHEN WARM, THERE WAS A WINDING NOISE COMING FROM THE DRIVER'S LEFT FRONT TIRE AREA DUE TO A FAILED BEARING WHICH DESTROYED THE ENTIRE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL, THE A/C WAS NOT COLD DUE TO A LEAK, WATER LEAKED IN THE TRUNK, THE MIRRORS WOULD NOT TILT IN REVERSE, A POSITIVE CABLE WAS LOOSE AND A BOLT WAS STRIPPED, THE STARTER WOULD NOT ENGAGE AFTER WAITING FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME AND AN ABNORMAL NOISE WOULD BE HEARD WHEN RESTARTED. *SC *CB
WHILE DRIVING CONSUMER HEARD NOISE COMING THROUGH THE TAILGATE, AND FOUND THE STRAP ASSEMBLY BROKE ON BOTH SIDES. DEALERSHIP NOTIFIED. *AK *NM
POWER STEERING FAILED. AS A RESULT, VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A MAILBOX, AND THEN INTO A DITCH. NO INJURIES REPORTED. *AK
INQUIRY ABOUT THE STABILITRAK SYSTEM INSTALLED IN THE 2002 CADILLAC ESCALADE SUV. *PH AS THE RIGHT WHEELS TOUCHED A SHORT PATCH OF SLUSH, THERE WAS A QUICK CLOCKWISE PIVOT THAT FELT PERPENDICULAR TO THE HIGHWAY FACING TO THE RIGHT. POSSIBLY THE STABILITRAK SYSTEM HAD REACTED IN A WAY THAT WOULD SPIN THE VEHICLE. *SC *JB
I HAVE HAD FOUR GOODYEAR TIRES THAT HAVE SPLIT AND/OR COME COMPLETELY APART WHILE DRIVING. THEY WERE WRANGLER HP TIRES, P265/70R17. *AK
THIS IS A SYNOPSIS OF THE INCIDENTS WITH GOODYEAR WRANGLER HP TIRES (P265/70R17) THAT HAVE OCCURRED WITH MY 2002 CADILLAC ESCALADE EXT. THE FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED ON DECEMBER 27, 2003, MYSELF ALONG WITH MY FATHER, MOTHER, SISTER AND COUSIN ELLISON WAS TRAVELING IN A 2002 CADILLAC ESCALADE EXT. AS WE WERE TRAVELING DOWN INTERSTATE 16 FROM MACON, GEORGIA TO SAVANNAH, GEORGIA, THERE WAS A LOUD POPPING SOUND AND THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE WAS THROWN INTO THE AIR. ONCE THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE HIT THE GROUND, I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY MANEUVER THE VEHICLE OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WHEN WE EXITED THE VEHICLE, WE NOTICED THAT THE THREAD HAD COMPLETELY SEPARATED FROM THE RIGHT REAR TIRE. THERE WAS ALSO SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE DONE TO THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. ON NOVEMBER 18, 2004, WHILE MY FATHER AND MOTHER WERE TRAVELING ON I-95 NEAR BRUNSWICK, GEORGIA, THEY FELT A THUD AND IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WHEN THEY EXITED THE VEHICLE, THEY NOTICED THAT THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE THREAD HAD STARTED TO SEPARATE. ON NOVEMBER 30, 2004, LESS THAN TWO WEEKS AFTER THE PREVIOUS TIRE INCIDENT, MY FATHER AND MOTHER WAS TRAVELING ON INTERSTATE 16 NEAR STATESBORO, GEORGIA. AT THIS POINT IN TIME, THE LEFT REAR TIRE BLEW OUT. AGAIN MY FATHER WAS ABLE TO SAFELY MANEUVER THE VEHICLE OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. ON FEBRUARY 18, 2005, WHILE MY FATHER AND MOTHER WERE TRAVELING IN MISSISSIPPI ON INTERSTATE 10. WHILE THEY WERE DRIVING DOWN INTERSTATE 10, THE RIGHT REAR TIRE BLEW COMPLETELY OUT. ON APRIL 3, 2005, MY FATHER WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AROUND TOWN IN SAVANNAH, GEORGIA. HE NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE STARTED VIGOROUSLY SHAKING. AT THIS POINT, HE STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND SAFELY PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WHEN HE LOOKED AT THE TIRES, HE NOTICED THAT THE THREADS WERE SEPARATING FROM THE TIRE. *JB
WHILE DRIVING 65-70 MPH, THE LEFT REAR TIRE EXPERIENCED A BLOWOUT (AFTER MARKET EQUIPMENT INSTALLED AT 13,000 MILES, TIRE SIZE 265/70R17, DOT# UNAVAILABLE AT THIS TIME). THIS CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO SKID OUT OF CONTROL, INTO A WHEAT FIELD. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED DAMAGES TO THE FRONT END AND BOTH FRONT FENDERS. DEALER WAS NOTIFIED. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION ALONG WITH THE DOT# AND COMPLETE THIS QUESTIONNAIRE. *JB
HEADLIGHTS ON SUVS ARE TOO HIGH AND LOW BEAMS ARE EFFECTIVELY HIGH BEAMS FOR DRIVERS OF REGULAR CARS. THIS MEANS THAT AT NIGHT, THE SUV LIGHTS SHINE DIRECTLY INTO THE EYES OF DRIVERS IN FRONT VIA THE REAR VIEW AND SIDE MIRRORS. THIS WILL LEAD TO ACCIDENTS, DISTRACTING DRIVERS' ATTENTION FROM TRAFFIC IN FRONT AND SEVERELY REDUCING VISIBILITY. *LA
DAYTIME RUNNING LAMPS HAVE NEVER WORKED. REPLACED BULBS 6 TIMES. KEEP BURNING OUT. SEEMS EVERY ESCALADE I SEE HAS ONLY ONE WORKING. *JB
PARKING BRAKE DOES NOT HOLD CAR WHEN PARKED ON A GRADE. DEALER SAID IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH ESCALADES. NO RECALL/WARRANTY. *JB
I WAS DRIVING WITH MY CHILDREN IN MY 2002 CADILLAC ESCALADE AND THERE WAS A REAL BAD BURNING SMELL AND SMOKE COMING FROM MY BACK SEAT. I LOOKED IN THE BACK SEAT AND THERE WAS SMOKE COMING FROM THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE SEAT. THE HEATED SEATS HAD GOTTEN TURNED ON BY ACCIDENT OR TURNED ON BY THEMSELVES. WE PULLED OVER AND GOT THE TWO KIDS OUT OF THERE CARSEATS TURNED THE HEATED SEAT SWITCH OFF, WAITED FOR THE SEAT TO COOL OFF. THANKFULLY WE CAUGHT IT IN TIME AS MY CHILDREN COULD HAVE BEEN INJURED. I PUT IN A COMPLAINT TO CADILLAC TO FILE ARBITRATION AS MY HEATED SEATS HAVE BEEN REAPIRED 3 TIMES PRIOR TO THEM MELTING. CADILLAC DENIED ARBITRATION AND TOLD ME THE DEALER WILL REPAIR IT YET AGAIN.*AK
REAR BRAKES WORE OUT WITH OVER 50% OF FRONT PADS REMAINING. IVE OWNED OVER 30 CARS AND TRUCKS IN MY LIFE AND THIS IS A FIRST. DEALER TELLS ME ITS NORMAL. SINCE HISTORICALLY 99.99% OF ALL VEHICLES PERFORM 80% OF BRAKING WITH THE FRONT BRAKES IT SEEMS THAT THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE BRAKE BALANCING SYSTEM ON MY CAR. ASKED FOR CADILLAC TO PUT IN WRITING THAT THIS IS HOW THESE BRAKES WERE DESIGNED. THEY TOLD ME THEY DONT DO THAT. WHEN I PUT MY 3 YEAR OLD & 2 YEAR OLD LITTLE GIRLS IN THIS CAR I WANT TO KNOW THAT IT IS SAFE AND CADILLAC IS WILLING TO SAY SO IN WRITING. I DONT BELIEVE THE BRAKE SYSTEM IS RIGHT. *AK
WHILE MAKING TURN ON THE HIGHWAY WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING, THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN AND WOULD NOT RESTART. *TT
WHILE DRIVING THERE WAS PULSATION AND VIBRATION WHEN BRAKING AT ANY SPEED. ABS BRAKE LIGHT STAYED ON AT ALL TIMES. VEHICLE HAD BEEN TO THE DEALER FOUR TIMES. THE STABILITY LOCK TRACKING SYSTEM WAS REPAIRED FOUR TIMES IN ONE YEAR. MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED.*AK
CONSUMER STATES THAT BRAKE ROTORS ARE WEARING OUT, AND WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES VEHICLE WILL HAVE HEAVY VIBRATION AND EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. DEALER NOTIFIED.*AK
THE PASSENGER DOOR DID NOT CLOSE PROPERLY, DUE TO A FAULTY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. *JB
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO VIBRATE. UPON INSPECTION AT THE DEALER IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE FRONT WHEEL DRIVE DIFFERENTIAL EXPLODED. *NLM *NLM
THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME STUCK. THE POWER STEERING WAS DEFECTIVE, THE BRAKE BOOSTER PUMP WAS DEFECTIVE AS WELL, WHICH ALSO CRACKED AND LEAKED FLUID. THE PUMP WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALER. THERE WAS A STRONG VIBRATION FELT FROM ALL FOUR WHEELS, IN WHICH THE ALL WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM HAD MALFUNCTIONED AND CAUSED THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL TO SEIZE AND EXPLODE. SCC *JB
CONSUMER STATES WHILE DRIVING 50MPH THE VEHICLE LOST POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITONAL INFORMATION. TS
WHILE TRAVELING ON THE FREEWAY APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION. HE APPLY HIS BRAKES THE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOOR THERE WERE NO BRAKES. THE DEALERSHIP IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. TS
HEADLIGHT LOW BEAM ON THE CADILLAC CTS 2000 HAS A BLACK BAR THAT REDUCES VISION TO ABOUT 75 FT AND ON DARK COUNTRY ROADS, THIS SHORTENED VISION IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. THE HEADLIGHT SHOULD BE A RECALL BEFORE SERIOUS ACCIDENTS OCCUR AS A RESULT OF THIS CONDITION. WHAT WAS CADILLAC THINKING? CADILLAC DOESN'T SEEM TO THINK THERE IS A PROBLEM BUT OBVIOUSLY THEY DON'T EVER DRIVE THEIR PRODUCT ON DARK ROADS AT NIGHT. THIS HEADLIGHT PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED!! IT IS AWFUL! *AK
THE CONSUMERS SISTERS FINGER GOT CAUGHT IN THE REARWARD FOLDING HEAD RESTRAINT ON THE SECOND ROW SEAT. SHE BROKE A BONE IN HER RIGHT RING FINGER, DAMAGED HER NAIL BED AND IS EXPERIENCING SOME NUMBNESS IN THE FINGER. *JG *NLM

BRAKES ARE SQUEALING AND GRINDING. STOPPING DISTANCE HAS NOT INCREASED. CURRENTLY NO LIGHT HAVE ILLUMINATED AS SHOWING A PROBLEM. DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF PROBLEM. PLEASE PROVIDE MORE INFORMATION.*AK
WHILE DRIVING TRANSMISSION BURNED UP, AND WHEN PUTTING VEHICLE INTO ANY GEAR, IT WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE FORWARD. CONTACTED DEALER, AND THE DEALER REPLACED TRANSMISSION. *AK CADILLAC DTS 2002 *YH
FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT LOCKS DUE TO A SAFETY CATCH FOR A CHILD SEAT OR CHILD. THE SLIGHTEST MOVEMENT OR BUMP IN THE ROAD CAUSES BELT TO TIGHTEN TO THE POINT OF DISCOMFORT. IT MAY HAVE BEEN DESIGNED AS A SAFETY FEATURE, BUT IT HAS BECOME A SAFETY HAZARD SINCE MY WIFE WILL NOT USE THE BELT. I HAVE COMPLAINED TO CADILLAC TO NO AVAIL. THEY CLAIM IT WORKS TO SPECS, BUT THEY HAVE NOT TRIED TO RIDE WITH IT ON FOR ANY TIME. *JB
THE STABILIZER TRACK CAME ON WHILE DRIVING ON DRY PAVEMENT. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERS ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE FIRST DEALER COULD NOT LOCATE A PROBLEM AND THE SECOND DEALER REPLACED THE SENSORS AND THE PROBLEM CONTINUED. *JB
THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN SEVERAL TIMES WHILE EXITING A RAMP. *AK *JB
THE CAR'S EMERGENCY BRAKE WHILE FULLY ENGAGED WILL NOT STOP THE CAR FROM ROLLING DOWN A 5% GRADE DRIVEWAY. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THIS ISN'T THE FIRST TIME THESE HAVE COME BACK FOR THIS PROBLEM. HOWEVER THEY DON'T HAVE A PROTOCAL OR RECALL NOTICE SO THEY CAN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. IF THIS SUV WERE PARKED ON A HILL WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE APPLIED AND THE CAR WAS SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL BY A CHILD. THEIR COULD BE A GRAVE ACCIDENT THAT COULD RESULT IN FATALITIES TO PEDESTRIANS AND PEOPLE IN THE VEHICLE. BY THE DEALERSHIP REFUSING TO FIX THIS PROBLEM, I AM CONCERNED WITH THE SAFETY OF THE PEOPLE. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH VEHICLE VEERED AND HIT A TELEPHONE POLE, AND AIR BAGS DIDNOT DEPLOY. DRIVER AND PASSENGER WERE INJURED. DEALER CONTACTED. HAD FRONTAL IMPACT. *AK
WHILE DRIVING, THE LUGGAGE RACK COVERS FLEW OFF OF VEHICLE.*YD
WHILE STOPPING AT A RED LIGHT ANOTHER VEHICLE TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH REAR ENDED CONSUMERS VEHICLE, UPON IMPACT NONE OF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED ALSO DRIVERS SIDE SEAT BELT DID NOT HOLD.*AK *SLC
2002 CADILLAC ESCALADE. CONSUMER STATES ISSUES WITH BRAKES *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED HER VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE ABS ACTIVATED WHILE DRIVING AT VERY LOW SPEEDS AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. THE CONSUMER STATED SHE WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT DUE TO UNWANTED ACTIVATION OF THE ABS AND ALSO THE BEARING SENSOR WAS REPLACED. *JB
REAR VISION IS IMPACTED BY DRIVERS SIDE MIRROR NOT EXTENDING FAR ENOUGH. ONE THIRD OF MIRROR SHOWS REAR LEFT QUARTER, WHEN SEAT IS ALL THE WAY BACK FOR LARGE PERSON 6'3". REAR VIEW MIRROR IS OBSCURED BY HEATER CONTROLS. *AK
WHEN THE ACCELERATOR WAS DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE LURCHED FORWARD. *YH THE DOOR(S) LOCKED ON THEIR OWN, WAS UNABLE TO COORDINATE THE CLUTCH AND ACCELERATOR, THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS INOPERATIVE, THE SEAT POSITIONER DIDN'T FUNCTION PROPERLY, AND THE WIPER BLADE WAS OUT OF PLACE. *SCC
THE DRIVE SHAFT FAILED CAUSING THE WHEEL FELL OFF DAMAGING THE VEHICLE. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. PH

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSTALLED WITH AN ALARM THAT SOUNDS IF ANY OF THE DOORS ARE AJAR. THE ONLY DOOR THAT HAS AN ALARM IS THE REAR LIFTGATE DOOR. CONSUMER FEELS THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. *NLM
