MY TRACTION CONTROL/STABILITY SYSTEM WILL ENGAGE WHILE I AM DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD UNLESS I MANUALLY DISABLE IT. THIS COULD VERY EASILY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE THE CAR WILL BE JERKED AND PULLED EITHER TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT. IT BEGAN IN JANUARY OF 2009 AND CONTINUES TO DO THIS EVEN AFTER TRYING MANY THINGS TO FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR
I PURCHASED THIS CERTIFIED VEHICLE IN 2007 WITH 35,000 MILES MY ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN COMING ON SINCE 12/08 I WENT TO HE DEALERSHIP ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND THE TOLD ME IT WAS MY GAS CAP OR ONETIME THEY SAID IT WAS MY OIL THAT NEEDED TO BE CHANGED. I CONTINUOUSLY HAD THIS PROBLEM BRINGING MY VEHICLE BACK AND FORTH TO GET REPAIRED AND MY ENGINE LIGHT IS STILL ON AND NOW I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH MY ENGINE WHERE THE DEALERSHIP ADVISED ME NOT TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE. *TR
FRONT TURN SIGNALS DO NOT WORK. VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER NO LESS THAN 6 TIMES THROUGHOUT IT'S LIFE. I HAVE PERSONALLY CHANGED 2 TURN SIGNAL BULBS. I AM AN ENGINEER... AND THE BULBS ARE FULLY FUNCTIONAL AFTER REPLACEMENT. THE BULBS "SOCKET" IS PLASTIC WITH A WIRE. IT APPEARS THE WIRE MELTS THE PLASTIC AND THE TURN SIGNAL STOPS WORKING PREMATURELY. THIS MIGHT BE FIXED WITH BULB THAT IS OF ALL GLASS CONSTRUCTION (WHICH GM DOES NOT USE AND NOT AVAILABLE AT THE LOCAL PARTS STORE). OR POSSIBLY THE TURN SIGNAL CIRCUIT IS USING TOO MUCH CURRENT FOR THIS APPLICATION. EITHER WAY THIS IS A CERTAIN DESIGN DEFECT... NOTED ON CADILLAC FORUMS. I JUST REPLACED ANOTHER BULB AND THE NEXT DAY IT IS NOT WORKING AGAIN. THE PROBLEM I FIND, IS THERE IS NO WAY TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. THERE ARE NO "FAULTY" PARTS TO REPLACE. IT MUST BE A DESIGN DEFECT. AND OWNERS OF THESE VEHICLES ARE A LIABILITY ON THE ROAD. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CADILLAC SRX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TPMS WARNING INDICATOR WOULD ILLUMINATE ON THE INSTRUMENT CONTROL PANEL. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY PLACED AIR IN THE TIRE. SOON AFTERWARDS, THE TIRE CONTINUED TO LOSE AIR PRESSURE. HE RETURNED TO THE DEALER AND THEY DISCOVERED A ONE INCH FRACTURE IN THE RIM, WHICH CAUSED THE TIRE TO FAIL. THE TECHNICIAN ALSO CONCLUDED THAT THERE WAS NO EXTERNAL FORCE, SUCH AS A CRASH ONTO A CURB, THAT CAUSED THE WHEEL TO BEGIN CRACKING ON THE INSIDE. THE RIMS ARE THE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT. THE CONTACT IS IN THE PROCESS OF HAVING THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 81,037. UPDATED 11/17/08 *CN UPDATED 11/24/08.*JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CADILLAC SRX. WHILE EXITING FROM THE LIFTGATE OF THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A SEVERE BURN FROM THE TAIL PIPE. SHE SOUGHT MEDICAL ATTENTION WITH A PHYSICIAN. THE ELONGATED TAIL PIPE EXTENDED PAST THE BUMPER OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED OF THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 35,393.
NOISE IN REAR OF AUTO,RESULT WAS WHEEL BEARING IN REAR WHEEL WAS FOUND TO BE BAD NATIONAL BACK ORDER OF PART, WAITING FOR CAR TO BE REPAIRED.. CAR HAS ONLY 34K MILES. *TR
THERE IS WATER GETTING INTO THE CAR. IN THE REAR, BACK.. THE COMPARTMENT THAT HOLDS THE TIRE JACK IS BUILDING UP WATER. *TR
THE BRAKE BOOSTER SUPPLY HOSE DEGRADES AND FALLS OFF RESULTING IN NO POWER ASSIST. THIS CAN HAPPEN WITH NO PRIOR WARNING AND RESULT IN PROPERTY DAMAGE AND OR BODILY INJURY OR DEATH. THIS VEHICLE IS A 2004 CADILLAC SRX WITH A ENGINE CODE 'A' BUT OTHER MODELS MAY BE AFFECTED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT ABOUT 30 MPH THROUGH A LEFT TO RIGHT S-CURVE THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILED FOR SEVERAL SECONDS. WHEN PARKING THE CAR A FEW MINUTES LATER THE POWER ASSIST FAILED AGAIN AND WAS ACCOMPANIED BY LOUD CHATTERING SOUND. APPROXIMATELY 8 HOURS LATER I DROVE THE CAR AGAIN. A CONTINUOUS, LOUD WHINING SOUND WAS HEARD UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE. AS THE VEHICLE WARMED UP THE WHINING WAS REDUCED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE POWER STEERING PUMP. THE WHINING NOISE WAS STILL PRESENT IN THE NEW PUMP. A SECOND REPLACEMENT PUMP WAS INSTALLED AND THE TYPE OF FLUID WAS CHANGED IN ACCORDANCE WITH A GM TSB. THE STEERING PUMP CONTINUES TO WHIN WHEN EVEN A SLIGHT TORQUE IS APPLIED TO THE HANDWHEEL WHILE THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY OR TRAVELING AT VERY SLOW SPEEDS, I.E., WHEN PARKING. THE DEALER NOW CLAIMS THAT THE NOISE IS NORMAL. HOWEVER, AFTER WORKING FOR GM'S SAGINAW STEERING COMPANY AS AN ENGINEER FOR MANY YEARS, I KNOW THAT WHAT I'M HEARING IS NOT NORMAL. *TR
THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL IN MY 2004 CADILLAC CTS-V FAILED(EXPLODED). MY OPINION IS THAT THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL WAS NOT PROPERLY ENGINEERED TO HANDLE THE POWER OF THE CTS-V. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT IT IS THE SAME REAR DIFFERENTIAL THAT IS IN THE 6 CYLINDER CTS MODEL. THE CTS-V HAS 400 HP AND 395 FT/LBS OF TORQUE. WHEEL HOP AND/OR AXLE TRAMP ARE THE PRIMARY REASON THE DIFF. FAILS BUT IT GOES BACK TO POOR ENGINEERING OR THE LACK THERE OF AS THE BASE MODELS REAR SUSPENSION AND THE CTS-V'S ARE IDENTICAL. WHEEL HOP CAN BE INDUCED AT ALMOST ANY TIME IN THE FIRST 3 GEARS AND IS NOT, UNLIKE WHAT THE GM WILL TELL YOU, ONLY CAUSED BY SIDE STEPPING THE CLUTCH. THIS IS NOT TRUE , AND EVEN IF IT WAS, THE REAR DIFF. SHOULDN'T EXPLODE FROM WHEEL HOP. IT EXPLODES BECAUSE OF HOW IT IS FASTENED TO THE CHASSIS AND THE AMOUNT OF MOVEMENT ALLOWED AT ITS MOUNTING POINTS. AS FAR AS A SAFETY ISSUE, IT IS NOT OUT OF THE REALM TO BREAK A REAR DIFF. WHILE MERGING INTO TRAFFIC ON A DAMP ROADWAY AND BEING POWERLESS(LITERALLY) TO AVOID ONCOMING TRAFFIC. *TR

WHEN REACHING INTO THE TAILGATE, YOUR LEGS ARE FREQUENTLY BURNT IF YOU COME TOO CLOSE TO THE TAILPIPES THAT PROTRUDE FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CADILLAC SRX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A 1.2 INCH PEBBLE STRUCK THE SUNROOF WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. THE SUNROOF GLASS EXPLODED, BUT WAS CAUGHT BY THE VINYL SLIDING COVER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED BY A DEALER. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 36,000. THE CONSUMER STATED THE PEBBLE WAS THROWN BY A CHILD, ABOUT 10 FEET FROM THE VEHICLE. IT HAD TO HIT THE ROOF GLASS AT A LOW ANGLE. UPDATED 12/31/07
ULTRAVIEW SUNROOF ON MY 2004 CADILLAC SRX EXPLODED, SHATTERING INTO 100'S OF PIECES. NOT STRUCK BY FOREIGN OBJECT. OUTSIDE TEMP = 75; SPPED = 65 MPH. *JB
2004 CADILLAC SRX. 40,000 MILES, 3 YEARS OLD. 1. 12-2006 - LOUD NOISES WHEN VEHICLE WAS IDLING. ENTIRE EXHAUST SYSTEM REPLACED. 2. 4-23-2007 - CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. CAR THEN BEGAN ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN. REPLACED THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR. 3. 6-21-2007 - ENGINE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE BEYOND 20 MPH. SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK CAR IN, IT WOULD NOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM, WAS NOT FIXED. 4. 6-29-2007 - PICKED CAR UP. NOTICED FUEL GAGE WAS NOT WORKING. ADVISED THEY DID NOT KNOW WHAT CAUSED FUEL GAGE TO NOT WORK, AND WAS NOT RELATED TO THE SERVICE ENGINE MESSAGE ON 6-21-2007. REPLACED THE FUEL SENSOR. THEY DAMAGED THE FUEL HOSES, ENDED UP NOT GETTING VEHICLE BACK UNTIL FRIDAY, 7-6-2007. 5. 7-12-2007: THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN, VEHICLE STARTED ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN (SIMILAR TO 4-23-2007 ISSUE). TOOK CAR BACK, VEHICLE WAS ACCELERATING WHILE IT CHECKED IN, ALSO STRANGE ODOR COMING FROM CAR. REPLACED THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR (SAME AS REPLACED 4-23-07). 6. 8-3-2007: THE ?SERVICE ENGINE SOON? MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE DRIVER SCREEN AND CAR AGAIN FAILED TO ACCELERATE. DROVE CAR TO SERVICE AND LEFT IT ON SO THAT THEY CAN HOOK IT UP TO THE COMPUTER IMMEDIATELY. DISCUSSED THAT IT MAY BE TIME TO SEND THIS VEHICLE BACK TO MANUFACTURER. SERVICE MANAGER IS AWARE OF OUR CONCERNS ? VEHICLE IS NOT RELIABLE. 9. 8/6/07: THEY CALLED AND ARE GOING TO REPLACE ONE OF THE ENGINE COMPUTERS TODAY (THE ECM). THEY ARE THEN GOING TO DRIVE IT AROUND TO BE SURE THAT TAKES CARE OF IT. 8/9/07: PICKED UP VEHICLE, SEEMS TO BE WORKING FINE - TIME WILL TELL. IF THIS DOES NOT TAKE CARE OF IT, WE WILL BE ASKING THE DEALER TO CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER AND ASK THEM TO PURCHASE THE VEHICLE BACK FROM US. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CADILLAC SRX. THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING AND CAUSED ANOTHER VEHICLE TO CRASH INTO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART A FEW MINUTES AFTER THE CRASH. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER HAD THE VEHICLE INSPECTED BY A CADILLAC SPECIALIST WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE DEALER UPDATED THE COMPUTER FOUR TIMES, BUT THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO STALL. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 48,000.
RECURRING ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. FIRST PROBLEM I HAD, THE MOTOR IN THE WINDOW WENT OUT, THEN THE NEXT ELECTRICAL PROBLEM I HAD WAS THE WIRING FOR THE BLINKERS KEPT GOING OUT, THE NEXT AND MOST MAJOR ELECTRICAL PROBLEM I'M STILL HAVING IS THAT WHEN THE CAR IS TURNED OFF AND SECURED THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS AND RADIO COMES BACK ON WITHIN TEN SECONDS AFTER I'VE TURNED OFF AND SECURED THE CAR. THE MIDDLE ARMREST KEEPS DETACHING AT THE BACK WHERE THE CELL PHONE PLUG IS LOCATED. THE DOOR LOCKS (INDICATING LATCH BY WINDOW) DOESN'T LIFT UP. THESE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN CORRECTED BY THE DEALER (CADILLAC) AT LEAST TWO TIMES EACH. *JB
HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY CADILLAC SRX 2004 MODEL, IT SEEMS MANY ARE... MY "TRACTION/ STABILITY CONTROL" CAME ON GOING 70 MPH UP A HILL (WHICH I LIVE IN A VALLEY SO IF YOU GO OFF THE ROAD YOU MIGHT DROP 100 FT) WITH A VEHICLE BEHIND ME, MY VEHICLE WOULDN'T ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME ALMOST REAR ENDED ME AND MY 3 CHILDREN, WHEN I FINALLY GOT IT TO THE SHOULDER AND STOPPED IT BEGAN IDLING VERY ROUGH, I TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE WAITED A FEW MIN AND TURNED IT BACK ON AND ALL WAS FINE, THIS IS VERY UNSAFE!! THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED AND RECALLED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED!! WE CALLED THE GM DEALERSHIP THAT WE RECENTLY HAD REPLACE OUR TRANSFER CASE (FOR YET AGAIN ANOTHER RECURRING PROBLEM IN THIS VEHICLE) AND WERE TOLD TO WAIT UNTIL IT HAPPENS A FEW MORE TIMES BEFORE BRINGING IT IN?!? THIS IS MY ONLY TRANSPORTATION AND IT IS PARKED, I REFUSE TO PUT MY CHILDREN IN AN UNSAFE VEHICLE I'D RATHER WALK! *TR
RAN OUT OF GAS ON THE OHIO TURNPIKE. DIC DISPLAYED 17 GALLONS USED ON 20 GALLON TANK WITH WHAT APPEARED TO BE 3 GALLONS REMAINING, I DIDN'T ASK THE AAA TOW TO BRING GAS. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO CLEVELAND, WHERE THE DEALER SAID THAT THE CAR WAS ON EMPTY. THIS COST $60.03 PLUS NEARLY $200.00 WITH CAR RENTAL BACK TO MICHIGAN, THEN ADDITIONAL GAS AND TIME OFF WORK TO RETURN TO WORK TO PICK UP THE CAR. DIDN'T MIND THAT THE DEALER MADE ME FEEL LIKE AN IDIOT. I ONLY WISH THAT I WOULD HAVE BEEN INFORMED WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE THAT THE DIC IS NOT RELIABLE. I COULD HAVE HAD AAA BRING GAS FREE OF CHARGE AND BEEN ON MY WAY. OBVIOUSLY, THIS REALLY UPSET ME.*AK
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THERE WAS A LOSS OF ALL VEHICLE POWER, AND THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE ENGINE WOULD NOT RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALERTED.
MY CADILLAC SRX (PURCHASED 4/2/2004, MILEAGE 34,599) SUFFERED A COMPLETE HYDRAULIC BRAKE FAILURE. THIS OCCURRED IN A PARKING LOT, AT LOW SPEED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES OR DAMAGE. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO REPAIRED THE BRAKES UNDER WARRANTY. THE DEALER STATED THAT BOTH HYDRAULIC CIRCUITS HAD FAILED AND THE ONLY BRAKING WAS THE PARKING BRAKE. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME HE HAD SEEN THIS TYPE OF FAILURE ON THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TRAVELING 50 MPH WITH THE POWER SUN ROOF OPEN, A VIBRATION AND A SQUEAKING NOISE WAS HEARD. UPON INSPECTION, ONE OF THE BOLTS WERE MISSING AND ANOTHER WAS LOOSE. AN APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED WITH THE SERVICE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN A LOT, A FIRE ERUPTED FROM THE FRONT UNDER HOOD AREA WITHOUT WARNING. BYSTANDERS ALERTED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED. NO ONE WAS INJURED. THERE WAS EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE POLICE WERE ON THE SCENE AND A REPORT WAS TAKEN. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT DETERMINED THE FIRE ORIGINATED FROM THE MASTER CYLINDER AND THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER TO AWAIT FURTHER INSPECTION BY THE INSURANCE ADJUSTOR AND A FACTORY REPRESENTATIVE. UPDATED 9/5/2006 - PRIOR TOT HE FIRE THE CONSUMER NOTICED THAT THE POWER STEERING FAILED WHILE MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED WHEN THE SMOKE AND FLAMES APPEARED. THE VEHICLE WAS DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS.*NM
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CADILLAC SRX. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY PULLS TO THE LEFT OR THE RIGHT. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER. THE FAILURE HAS OCCURRED EVER SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 135,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY DURING SUNNY DRY CONDITIONS, THE SUN ROOF EXPLODED INTO MANY PIECES. THE VEHICLE WAS IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER BECAUSE SOME SMALL PIECES OF GLASS BEGAN FALLING INTO THE VEHICLE. THE SUNROOF SHADE WAS PULLED SHUT TO PREVENT GLASS FROM FALLING INTO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DETERMINED AN EXTERNAL OBJECT CAUSED THE INCIDENT. THE CONTACT DISAGREED WITH THE DEALER BECAUSE THERE WERE OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP REPAIRED THE VEHICLE AT NO COST, AND THE CONTACT HAS A RECEIPT OF THE GLASS REPAIR.
2004 CADILLAC SRX SUNROOF SHATTERED WHILE DRIVING. *TS *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS AT 65 MPH, THE SUNROOF SHATTERED AND IMPLODED. THERE WERE NO PRIOR PROBLEMS WITH THE SUNROOF REPORTED. THE SUNROOF WAS NOT STRUCK BY ROCKS OR ROAD DEBRIS. THE BROKEN GLASS FRAGMENTS FELL DIRECTLY ONTO BOTH THE FRONT AND MIDDLE ROW SEATING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND REPAIR. CENTER PANEL OF SUN/MOON ROOF FOUND TO BE SHATTERED FOR NO DISCERNIBLE REASON ON MY 2004 CADILLAC SRX. DEALER WILL NOT ADDRESS PROBLEM AS ONE COVERED BY WARRANTY. AWAITING NEW GLASS PANEL I PAID FOR ($1,050.99) AND INSTALLATION (COST UNKNOWN). *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A RIGHT HAND TURN INTO A PARKING LOT, THE STEERING COLUMN COMPLETELY LOCKED. AFTER ATTEMPTING TO MANUALLY TURN THE STEERING WHEEL FOR TWENTY MINUTES THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATIONS ON ITS OWN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE SERVICE DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED TO OCCUR INTERMITTENTLY WHILE TURNING TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER WHO DETERMINED THE POWER STEERING HOSES WERE REVERSED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS ORIGINALLY MANUFACTURED. THE HOSES WERE SWITCHED, BUT THIS DID NOT REMEDY THE PROBLEM. THE STEERING COLUMN CONTINUED TO LOCK INTERMITTENTLY. IN ADDITION TO THE ONGOING STEERING COLUMN PROBLEM THE VEHICLE HAD SEVERAL OTHER PROBLEMS AS WELL. THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE SUDDENLY STALLED WITHOUT ANY PRIOR WARNING WHILE TRAVELING 70 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED SAFELY TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WAS EASILY RESTARTED AFTER A 30 MINUTE PERIOD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A SERVICE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THE THROTTLE CONTROL HAD CAUSED THE GAS SUPPLY TO SHUT OFF TO THE ENGINE. THE THROTTLE WAS REPLACED AND THIS REMEDIED THE PROBLEM. LATER, THE TRANSMISSION MADE A NOISE AND THE REAR END FELT LOOSE WHILE TRAVELING 60 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THERE WERE LOOSE NUTS ON THE WHEEL. ALL LUG NUTS WERE TIGHTENED ON ALL FOUR WHEELS. THE TIGHTENING OF THE NUTS APPEARED TO REMEDY BOTH THE TRANSMISSION NOISE AND THE LOOSE FEELING IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. WHILE PARKED THE CAR'S SUNROOF EXPLODED, SHOWERING MY SON AND I IN GLASS. THE GLASS WAS VERY SHARP AND CAUSED MINOR CUTS ON HANDS WHILE TRYING TO GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE. MY 2004 CAD. SRX SHOWED A LEFT REAR FLAT TIRE. I PULLED THE VEHICLE TO A LEVEL, ASPHALTED, SCENIC OVERLOOK AREA, 23 MILES FROM PAGE, AZ. I COULD NOT GET THE SHIFTER FROM DRIVE INTO PARK GEAR, NOR WOULD THE KEY TURN OR RELEASE FROM THE IGNITION. I GOT OUT TO CHECK AND CHANGE TIRE, SPARE WOULD NOT RELEASE, EITHER. I CALLED ON-STAR, GAVE EMERGENCY DETAILS, TO FIRST ADVISOR, THEN ADVANCE DIAGNOSTICS. I GOT OUT OF CAR, IT SURGED, BACKWARDS, WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE, COMPLETELY ON, AND IT ACCELERATED, TAKING ME WITH IT, I PUSHED AWAY, AND IT KEPT ACCELERATING OVER THE SCENIC OVERLOOK, BEING DESTROYED. ON-STAR NEVER CONTACTED THE POLICE, AMBULANCE, OR ME, EVEN 1 WEEK AFTER THE ACCIDENT, I HAD TO CALL THEM AND REQUEST THE AUDIO OR TRANSCRIPT OF THE MALFUNCTIONS, AND CRASH. *NM

MY 6 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS GETTING HER BACKPACK OUT OF THE BACK AND LEANED UP AGAINST THE EXHAUST PIPE AND RECEIVED 2ND DEGREE BURNS ON HER UPPER THIGH. SHE IS NOW 8 YEARS OLD AND HAS A PERMANENT SCAR ON HER UPPER THIGH. SHE HAS BEEN BRANDED FOR LIFE. SHE HAS A SCAR THAT IS A CIRCLE FROM THE EXHAUST PIPE. THE DOCTOR SAID BECAUSE OF THE SEVERITY OF THE BURN, SHE WILL ALWAYS HAVE THE SCAR SINCE IT DAMAGED HER SKIN. I CONTACTED CADILLAC DIRECTLY AND ASKED THEM TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. DT: THE VEHICLE WILL SHUT DOWN STARTING WITH AIR CONDITIONER. THEN A WARNING LIGHT WILL COME ON, SYSTEM THEFT SERVICE. AND THE REST OF THE VEHICLE WILL FOLLOW. CONSUMER COULD NOT EVEN GET THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION OR TURN IT WHEN IT DOES THIS. THE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY BECAUSE SHE KNEW THAT WHEN THE AIR CONDITION STARTS FAILING , IT WILL SHUT DOWN. WILL HAVE TO WAIT AT LEAST 25-30 MINUTES BEFORE IT WILL START AGAIN. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE COMPUTER. THE SECOND TIME THEY REPLACED COMPUTER AGAIN. THE THIRD TIME THEY CHANGED THE MODULE. CONSUMER WAS NOT ENTIRELY SURE OF ALL THE WORK THE DEALERSHIP DID. THERE WERE NO OTHER KNOWN PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE AT THIS TIME. EVERYTHING THAT THE DEALERSHIP HAS DONE TO TRY TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM HAS NOT HELPED. CONSUMER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, THEY TOLD CONSUMER THAT THEY WOULD REIMBURSE HER FOR WHAT SHE PAID. THE REPLACEMENTS WERE DONE UNDER WARRANTY. THE CONSUMER DID NOT WANT THE VEHICLE SINCE SHE FELT IT WAS UNSAFE. *AK

AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT WHEN CAR TURNED INTO THE ON POSITION. INJURIES IN THIS CASE NONE. POSSIBLE INJURIES FOR OTHER PEOPLE INCLUDE CHILDREN SITTING IN LAP WHEN CAR IS STARTED, HEAD CLOSE TO THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN CAR IS STARTED, PERMANENT DEAFNESS, BLINDNESS, OR DEATH. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN RECALLED BUT NOT IN MY VEHICLE. CAUSE IS FAULTY AIRBAG DIAGNOSTIC UNIT WHICH CAN SET OFF AIRBAGS WHEN TESTING OCCURS. TESTING CAN BE CONDUCTED ON AIRBAGS BY ONSTAR WHILE CAR IS DRIVING POSSIBLY SETTING OFF AIRBAG WHILE CAR IS IN MOTION.

TURN SIGNALS FAILED TO WORK. THIS IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM WHICH THE DEALER HAS FAILED TO CORRECT. THE SELECTED SIGNAL DOES NOT FLASH WHEN THE TURN SIGNAL IS ACTIVATED. THE OPERATOR WILL THEN CANCEL THE SIGNAL AND ACTIVATE THE OTHER SIDE AND THE SIGNAL STILL DOES NOT FLASH. THEN, SEVERAL MINUTES LATER, BOTH SIGNALS WORK PROPERLY. *AK
DT: THE CONTACT STATED TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SENSORS WERE DEFECTIVE. THE MANUFACTURERS RECOMMENDED TIRE PRESSURE BE 32 PSI . HOWEVER, WITHIN 24 HOURS THE SENSORS SUGGESTED THE PRESSURE DROPPED IN ALL FOUR TIRES. THIS CAUSED THE WARNING LIGHTS TO ILLUMINATE, SIGNALING LOW TIRE PRESSURE. THE SENSORS PROVIDED A FALSE READING WHICH ALERTED THE CONTACT THAT AIR SHOULD BE ADDED TO THE TIRES. THIS CAUSED IMPROPER PRESSURE TO BE ADDED, RESULTING IN OVER INFLATION. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER THREE TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM. EACH TIME THE DEALER CALIBRATED THE SENSORS. THIS PROCEDURE TEMPORARILY REMEDIES THE PROBLEM. *AK

THE DEALER STATED THAT THE BATTERY CAUSED THE FAILURE AND THEY REPLACED THE BATTERY. APPROXIMATELY EIGHT MONTHS LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE BATTERY CAUSED THE FAILURE AND REPLACED IT A SECOND TIME. APPROXIMATELY THREE MONTHS LATER, THE FAILURE OCCURRED AGAIN. SHE WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE, HOWEVER, THEY REPLACED THE CRANK SHAFT SENSOR. THE FAILURE CONTINUES TO PERSIST. AS OF SEPTEMBER 24, 2007, THE DEALER HAD NOT REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THE POWERTRAIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 70,580.
