While driving, the vehicle began experiencing repeated electrical failures including blown fuses, inoperative headlights and brake lights, and the transmission becoming locked in PARK. When the fuse blows, the gear shift cannot be moved out of PARK and the ignition key cannot be removed, leaving the vehicle stuck and unable to be driven or safely turned off. The brake lights and daytime running lights also stop working, making the vehicle unsafe to operate in traffic. This condition has been occurring repeatedly and requires frequent fuse replacement just to move or shut off the vehicle. An emergency override hole on the shifter had already been exposed, indicating the problem existed before and the vehicle was previously being forced out of PARK manually. A tow truck driver had to use this override to move the vehicle. The airbag warning light is also illuminated, indicating the safety restraint system may not function properly in a crash. These failures create a serious safety risk due to loss of exterior lighting, inability to shift, inability to turn the ignition off, and possible airbag malfunction. This failure is consistent with a known defect involving the Daytime Running Light (DRL) module overheating and causing electrical shorts, as documented in manufacturer recall and technical service bulletins for this vehicle. The problem has been reproduced multiple times and remains unresolved.
The airbag warning light has remained illuminated since I acquired the vehicle in January 2025. The warning light stays on continuously and does not reset. This indicates a fault in the airbag system, and I have been advised that when this light is on, the airbags may be disabled and may not deploy in a crash. The vehicle has also experienced ongoing electrical problems, including lighting failures, blown fuses, and shift-interlock malfunctions, which suggests an electrical system fault affecting multiple safety-related systems. These issues create concern that the airbag control system may be impacted by the same electrical malfunction. The vehicle has not been repaired or diagnosed by a dealer for the airbag issue. The condition is still present and the warning light remains illuminated. This failure creates a serious safety risk because the airbags may not function in the event of a collision.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Aveo. The contact was made aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 06V398000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The contact stated that after the vehicle was involved in an accident, the vehicle lost motive power and failed to restart on various occasions. No warning lights were illuminated, and the vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The vehicle was then towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the contact stated that the failure had reoccurred, and the vehicle failed to restart. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Out of no where it cought on fire
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Aveo. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, the driver’s side front air bag sensor warning light illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who inspected the vehicle and completed a diagnostic test which displayed a failure with the front driver’s side air bag. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately of 52,000.

I HAVE PROBLEMS WITH WHENEVER I GO TO PUT GAS IN MY CAR, SOME OF IT GOES ON THE GROUND. NOT ALL OF THE GAS GOES ON THE GROUND, BUT A LITTLE LESS THAN HALF OF WHAT I PURCHASED. MY HEADLIGHTS ARE SO DIM THAT I CAN'T HARDLY SEE WHEN I'M DRIVING AT NIGHT. ALSO, MY PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG LIGHT IS CONSTANTLY ON? THERE'S ONE THERE AND NOTHING BIGAMY WRONG WITH IT THAT I CAN SEE. THE STEREO.....ONLY THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT SPEAKER WORKS, THE OTHER THREE DOESN'T WORK AT ALL....PLEASE LOOK INTO THESE FEW THINGS OR GIVE ME SOME SORT OF IDEA OF WHAT I CAN DO
VEHICLE HEADLIGHTS FAILED. CAR WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY. AN HOUR LATER WHEN IT WAS STARTED AGAIN, THE HEADLIGHTS FAILED TO COME ON AND REMAIN INOPERABLE. BULBS, SWITCH, AND RELAY HAVE ALL BEEN CHECKED AND VERIFIED TO BE OPERABLE.
RECALL FOR DAYLIGHT RUNNING LIGHTS OVER HEATING DIDN'T APPLY TO MY PARTICULAR CAR, BUT SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM IN MY CAR REGARDLESS. GROUND WIRES IN MY HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY HAVE FRIED AND LEFT SCORCH MARKS ON HEADLIGHT CONNECTION. NO ACTUAL FIRE YET JUST A MELTED PLASTIC UNDER THE HOOD. NOT SURE IF MY CAR IS INVALID AS HAVE BEEN FIXED OR JUST NOT COVERED BUT IN EITHER CASE PART IS FAILING.
BLOWS A FUSE AND WILL NOT COME OUT OF PARK

AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO ROLL THE WINDOWS UP OR DOWN, UNLOCK THE DOOR WITH THE SWITCH, AND THE KEY WOULD NOT TURN TO THE OFF POSITION IN THE IGNITION. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V261000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE, CONFIRMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL, AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000. TAMARA RECALL MY CAR COMBUSTED INTO FRAMES AFTER BEING WRECKED INTO A CURVE OF LAST YEAR OF JUNE.
AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND HAS STAYED ON FOR 2 MONTHS. UNABLE TO DETECT WHAT IS WRONG WITH ELECTRONIC READER. AIRBAGS ARE DISENGAGED, AND I CAN'T FIND OUT WHY WITHOUT PAYING MORE MONEY THAN I HAVE TO SPEND BECAUSE EACH COMPONENT HAS TO BE CHECKED, AND THAT DOESN'T INCLUDE ACTUALLY FIXING THE PROBLEM, JUST FIGURING OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. I'VE SEEN THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS. PASSENGER AIRBAG SENSOR STARTED ACTING WEIRD/ NOT WORKING FIRST. OCCURRED AROUND 100 K MILES. WHEN WILL A RECALL HAPPEN? THIS IS APPARENTLY A COMMON SAFETY ISSUE.

TAKATA RECALL MY 2007 CHEVY AVEO ON 9/ 10 2016 WEN I STARTED IT UP THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG LIGHT SAYING THAT THE AIRBAG IS OFF! HAS JUST COME ON AND WILL NOT GO OFF! IT IS ON EVERY TIME I START THE CAR AND WILE DRIVING IT WITH OR WITH OUT A PASSENGER IN IT. THIS FROM WHAT I HAVE READ ON LINE MEANS THE AIR BAG IS BAD AND WILL NOT DEPLOY OR WILL DEPLOY FOR NO REASON THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL I HAVE READ MANY POST FROM OTHERS WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM IN THE 2007 CHEVY AVEO PLEASE RECALL THIS CAR BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED!!!
DASHBOARD CAUGHT FIRE WHILST CAR WAS PARKED FOR HOURS IN SECURE PARKING LOT. CAR FIRE WAS PUT OFF BY FIREFIGHTERS WHO CUT BATTERY AND CABLES BROKE WINDOWS IN ORDER TO STOP FIRE. NOW CAR DOES NOT TURN ON AT ALL AND DASHBOARD CENTER IS COMPLETELY MELTED.
FOR THE LAST WEEK, MY AIRBAG LIGHT HAS BEEN STAYING ON.

THE "PASSENGER AIR BAG" LIGHT ON THE DASH STAYS ON AND WON'T GO OFF.ALSO THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT GOES ON AND OFF AND I HAD THE CODE CHECKED AND THEY SAID IS IS SOMETHING WITH THE FUEL.I HAVE HEARD OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE AIR BAG LIGHT AND IT MIGHT NOT BE DEPLOYED IN AN ACCIDENT.WHY DOES GENERAL MOTOR HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL PEOPLE GET KILLED IN THEIR CARS AND HAVE A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FILED BEFORE THEY DO THE RIGHT THING?WHY DON'T THEY RECALL THESE CARS AND FIX THE PROBLEMS WITH ELECTRICAL, AIR BAGS AND OTHER MANUFACTURING DEFECTS? THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING 20MPH WHILE TURNING AND HAS NEVER WENT OFF (STARTED AROUND 125,000MILES). I TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL MECHANIC, HE CHECKED WIRES AND HOOKED IT UP TO A DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE AND BELIEVES IT IS EITHER THE MODULE OR THE SENSOR IN THE SEAT, BUT CAN'T/WON'T GIVE AN EXACT CAUSE. WHEN I TRIED TO CONTACT GM THEY KEPT SAYING I WAS JUST GOING OFF WHAT THE INTERNET SAID AND NEEDED TO SEE A DEALER. JUST MADE IT FEEL LIKE THAT DIDN'T CARE ABOUT MY SAFETY OR THE SAFETY OF ANY ONE IN ONE OF THESE VEHICLES. *TR
SINCE THE DRL MODULE WAS REPLACED AS A RECALL ITEM, I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE EACH HEADLIGHT EVERY 2-8 WEEKS DUE TO BURNING OUT. THERE IS OBVIOUSLY A PROBLEM WITH THE SO-CALLED "REPAIR."

THE CONTACT WAS UNINJURED; HOWEVER, THE PREGNANT DRIVER OF THE OTHER VEHICLE SUSTAINED INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO A TOW YARD. MY HEADLIGHTS ARE COMPLETELY BURNING OUT. I'VE CHANGED THEM A COUPLE TIMES AND MY FATHER TOLD ME MY WIRES KEEP BURNING OUT. ALSO MY FUEL SYSTEM KEEPS NOT GIVING ENOUGH FUEL. I KEEP GETTING A GAS LINE EMISSIONS WHEN I GET A CHECK ON MY CAR. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON THEN OFF A FEW DAYS LATER. ALSO MY SEATBELT IN THE BACK KEEP COMING OUT.

AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON DURATION WHEN I'M DRIVING. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY LOOKED AT IT AND THE LIGHT WAS OFF, BUT IT CAME BACK ON AGAIN AFTER 3 MONTHS.

BEEN SMELLING SOMETHING THAT SIMILAR TO PLASTIC BUT COULD NOT LOCATE ANYTHING BUT NOW I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE FUSES BLOWN FOR LOW BEAMS AND DRL. ULTIMATELY ALL DASHBOARD LIGHTS HAVE NOW GONE OUT ALONG WITH NO TAIL LIGHTS OR LOW BEAMS OR DRLS AT ALL AND NO HORN. DEALER IS SAYING THAT THE FUSE BLOCK IS GOING TO HAVE TO BE REPLACED BUT THE CAR ONLY HAS 83,000 AND NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL OUT THERE FOR THE DRL MODULE MELTING OR CATCHING ON FIRE BUT LOW AND BEHOLD MY CAR IS NOT ON THAT RECALL BUT LOOKS TO ME THAT IT SHOULD BE. IN ADDITION TO THE LIGHTS NOT WORKING CORRECTLY, THE GEAR SHIFTER WILL NOT COME OUT OF PARK AND THE KEY WILL NOT RELEASE FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH. I DID ALSO THINK IT ODD THAT MY KEY WOULD BE HOT TO TOUCH WHEN IT WOULD RELEASE ON PREVIOUS OCCASIONS LEADING UP TO THIS FAILURE. THE FIRST INSTANCE WHEN THE FAILURE INITIALLY STARTED WITH THE LIGHTS AND ALL THAT I COULD NOTICE WAS WHILE I WAS IN A PARKING LOT CRANKING THE CAR, BUT THE SECOND TIME AFTER CHANGING OUT THE FUSE, THE FUSE BLEW AGAIN AFTER I WAS DRIVING ON THE ROAD IN 5 O'CLOCK TRAFFIC.
MY AIRBAG LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR 3 MONTHS AND KNOW ONCE IT'S ON WON'T WORK IF AND WHEN I NEED IT. THIS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN AND SOMETHING THAT GM SHOULD BE ADDRESSING AS IT SEEMS TO BE A MANUFACTURER RELATED ISSUE. I TOOK MY VEHICLE DOWN TO MY LOCAL AUBURN CHEVEROLET AND THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE CLOCK ON MY DASHBOARD WHICH WORKS PERFECTLY FINE IN ORDER TO FIX THE AIRBAG PROBLEM. THIS DOESN'T SEEM RIGHT AND SHOULD BE A BIG RED FLAG. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE GM ADDRESS THESE ISSUES INSTEAD OF SWEEPING IT UNDER THEIR PROVERBIAL RUG. THEY ARE PUTTING CUSTOMERS AT GREAT RISK.
I WOULD LIKE TO SUGGEST THE CHEVROLET AVEO ONLY HAS FRONTAL AIR BAGS AND SHOULD HAVE MORE AIR BAGS ESPECIALLY FOR SIDE COLLISIONS.
HAVE TO CHANGE HEADLIGHTS EVERY OTHER MONTH. WHEN I CHANGE ONE THE OTHER WENT OUT IMMEDIATELLY. SHOULD NOT HAVE TO CHANGE HEADLIGHT BULBS. TOLD DEALER HE SAID BY BULB FROM THEM?? I BOUGHT CORRECT BULB???? THIS HAS BEEN ONGOING SINCE I BOUGHT CAR IN 2010..IVE REPLACED OVER 7/8 TIMES.
WHILE DRIVING ON I95 MY RPMS DROPPED TO ZERO WITHOUT WARNING AND I WAS ABLE TO GET IT OFF THE ROAD. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER SAID THE ENGINE WAS BLOWN. IT HAD 63,504 MILES ON IT AND THE REQUIRED MAINTENANCE HAD BEEN DONE LESS THAN 1600 MILES EARLIER. NO LIGHTS OR WARNING. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO GET IT OFF THE ROAD SAFELY.

THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS MODULE HAD A RECALL ON IT. I MADE AN APT AT THE LOCAL DEALER LAST WEEK AND MADE AN APPOINTMENT TODAY TO GET THE RECALL DONE. RECALL NUMBER IS 14236. THEY DID NOT FIX IT, SAID THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE PART EVEN THOUGH I CONTACTED THEM LAST WEEK AND GAVE THEM THE VIN AND THE RECALL NUMBER. I PICKED UP THE CAR WITH THE INTENT OF TAKING IT TO ANOTHER DEALER AND IT CAUGHT FIRE ON THE WAY HOME AND DESTROYED THE CAR.
MY AIR BAG LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON. I TOOK IT TO A CHEVY DEALER (HUBER AUTOMOTIVE) NUMEROUS TIMES AND THEY CLAIMED TO FIX IT BUT IT KEEPS RETURNING ON
ON 7/6/2015 MY AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TO HAVE IT DIAGNOSED, THEY SAID IT WAS DUE TO A FAULTY OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROL MODULE WHICH WOULD COST ALMOST $900 TO GET FIXED. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP IF I GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT, MY AIRBAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY DUE TO THIS FAILURE. I AM SHOCKED THIS MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE IS NOT COVERED BY GM AND HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED. MY VEHICLE WILL NOT PASS INSPECTION WITHOUT THIS PART.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET AVEO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE CONTACT NOTICED AN ABNORMAL NOISE AND THE BRAKES FAILED. I AM EXTREMELY UPSET THAT ANY PASSENGER IN OUR 2007 CHEVROLET AVEO IS AT GREAT RISK! 2. THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT SEAT SENSOR WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY YEARS AGO, HOWEVER THERE HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUES NOW WITH THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG LIGHT. LAST AUGUST IT WAS A CLOCKSPRING, A WEEK AGO IT WAS THE SDM MODULE, NOW A WEEK LATER THEY ARE SAYING IT WILL TAKE A NEW CLOCK. DEALERSHIP CLAIMS THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH THESE CARS YET THERE IS NO RECALL. *TR
THE GEARSHAFT WON'T COME OUT OF PARK. I HAD THIS REPAIRED AT THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO AND IT IS NOW HAPPENING AGAIN AND PAID $300 FOR A GROUND WIRE. MY CAR CURRENTLY HAS 90000 MILES ON IT. IN ADDITION, THE GAUGES DISPLAYED INCORRECT READINGS AND FAILED TO FUNCTION. THE KEY FAILED TO EJECT FROM THE IGNITION AND REMAINED IN THE ACCESSORY POSITION. THE GEAR LEVER FAILED TO SHIFT AND REMAINED IN THE PARK POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. HOW DO CARS GET ADDED TO THE RECALL LIST? MINE SHOULD DEFINITELY BE ON THIS ONE FOR IGNITION PROBLEM TO THE TUNE OF $357. *TR
