HAVE HAD TO REPLACE FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS MULTIPLE TIMES UNDER 60K MILES. THE REPLACEMENT BEARINGS HAVE EVEN HAD TO BE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THE OEM WHEEL BEARINGS FOR THIS VEHICLE HAVE A 60% FAILURE RATE. THE SOLUTION IS TO UPGRADE TO A HIGHER QUALITY BEARING BEYOND THE OEM ONE. SUCH AS SKF BRAND WITH A 100K MILE WARRANTY. *TR
I CALLED CHEVROLET (1-800-630-2438) ABOUT A RECALL ON 2000-2002 CHEVROLET BLAZER ID#08V231000. EXTERIOR LIGHTING: BRAKE LIGHTS: SWITCH. I TOLD THEM MY 2002 BLAZER BRAKE LIGHTS,HAZARD LIGHTS,DASH LIGHTS,TAIL LIGHTS,HEAD LIGHTS,INTERIOR LIGHTS,TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS WERE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. BRAKE LIGHTS,TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS,AND HAZARD LIGHTS ONLY WORKED WHEN YOU PUSH RED HAZARD POP-UP BUTTON TO THE LEFT AND HOLD IT THERE. HEADLIGHTS,TAIL LIGHTS,DASH LIGHTS,AND INTERIOR LIGHTS WERE ALL FLICKERING WHILE DRIVING. I WAS TOLD THIS 2002 BLAZER WAS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST, AS IT WAS BUILT ON SEPTEMBER 5, 2001. THE RECALL ENDED ON AUGUST 20, 2001. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS RECALL,AND FOUND IT TO BE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BRASS CONTACTS AND COPPER CONTACTS IN THE MULTI-FUNCTION SWITCH. ALSO THE GREASE USED IN THE SWITCH. I ASKED THEM IF I HAD IT REPAIRED, AND FOUND BRASS CONTACTS, INSTEAD OF COPPER CONTACTS IN THE MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH, IF THEY WOULD REIMBURSE ME FOR THE COST OF REPAIR. I WAS GIVEN A CASE # AND TO GET IT REPAIRED. THE ONLY I WOULD GET REIMBURSED WAS IF ANOTHER RECALL WOULD COME OUT IN THE NEXT 12 MONTHS/ 12,000 MILES WHICH EVER CAME FIRST. AND WOULD STRONGLY RECOMMEND A CHEVROLET DEALER. I DON'T HAVE $600.00-$700.00 TO GET IT REPAIRED AT A CHEVROLET DEALER. I BELIEVE THIS IS A FACTORY DEFECT, AND SHOULD FIXED IMMEDIATELY! MY BRAKE LIGHTS AND THE HAZARD LIGHT WAS FOUND DEFECTIVE AND REPAIRED ON NOVEMBER 24, 2008 AT RINKE CHEVROLET. I HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR BECAUSE THE LISTED DEFECT & RECALL FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM WAS NOT LISTED ON MY VIN#. I WANT MY MONEY REFUNDED FROM CHEVROLET BECAUSE A 2002 BLAZER IS MADE THE SAME NO MATTER WHAT PACKAGE IS INCLUDED - BRAKE LIGHT DEFECTS COULD CAUSE MAJOR SERIOUS INJURY ACCIDENTS. *TR
BRAKE AND HAZARD LIGHT FAILURE. DUE TO A BAD HAZARD CARRIER SWITCH THE BRAKE LIGHTS FAIL TO ELIMINATE, ALONG WITH HAZARD LIGHTS. IT HAPPENS DAILY, AS THE PART IS NO GOOD. GM FORCED ME TO PAY OVER $500 TO REPLACE THE SWITCH- EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS A RECALL. *TR
THE BRAKES DID NOT WORK! I WAS DRIVING DOWN A 60MPH SPEED LIMIT ROAD AND THERE WAS A STOP LIGHT AHEAD A CAR IN FRONT OF ME STOPPED SHORT TO AVOID ACCIDENT I TUNED IN TO THE OTHER LANE WILE ON MY BRAKES THERE WAS A TRACTOR TRAILER STOPPED AT THE LIGHT THE BRAKES WEREN'T WORKING I PUT THE BRAKE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR AND STOPPED SLOWLY I WOUND UP ABOUT LESS THAN 1 FOOT OF HITTING THE TRAILER AT THE NEXT LIGHT I WAS COMING TO A STOP AND THE CAR DID IT AGAIN THIS TIME I WENT THREW THE RED LIGHT ON ABOUT 5 FEET INTO THE INTERSECTION THANK GOD NO OTHER DRIVERS STARTED TO GO YET FROM THERE GREEN LIGHT .NO INJURIES OR DAMAGE JUST A CRAPPY CAR :-( *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CHEVROLET BLAZER. THE CONTACT WAS STOPPED BY A POLICE OFFICER FOR INOPERATIVE BRAKE LIGHTS. THE OFFICER WARNED HIM AND DID NOT GIVE HIM A TICKET. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC, WHO DISCOVERED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 01V364000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING:BRAKE LIGHTS:SWITCH) WHEN ORDERING THE PARTS. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL; HOWEVER, THEY WOULD PERFORM A DIAGNOSTIC AT THE COST OF $90. THE CONTACT WOULD NOT RECEIVE A REIMBURSEMENT EVEN IF THE VIN TURNED OUT TO BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER GAVE HIM A FILE NUMBER AND CONFIRMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 34,300 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 34,250. MY STEP DAUGHTER 2002 BLAZER TAIL LIGHT WERE NOT WORKING. SHE HER THAT A RECALL WAS ISSUE ON THAT PROBLEM. NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 08V231000 ACTION NUMBER RQ08001. WHEN SHE WENT TO THE DEALER SHE FOUND OUT THAT HER SUV WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE VIN NUMBER IS . THE BLAZER WAS TAKEN IN AND THE PROBLEM WAS THE HAZARD SWITCH INDICATE IN THE RECALL. COST 193.00 TO FIX. I BELIEVE THAT THE RECALL SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO INCLUDE THIS AND OTHER VEHICLES. *TR
AUGUST 24, 2008, MYSELF AND MY THREE DAUGHTERS HEADED TO CHURCH TRAVELING ALONG 91N IN CT TO EXIT 35 WHEN ANOTHER PASSENGER CAR WAIVED AT US TO GET OFF THE EXIT - NOT KNOWING WHY WE GOT OFF THE EXIT ANY WAY SINCE THAT'S THE ONE WE NEEDED AND AS WE SLOWED DOWN AN ABUNDANCE OF SMOKE CAME FROM THE FRONT OF THE CAR - I PULLED OVER AND THE GENTLEMEN CONTINUED TO WAIVE AT US - NOT KNOWN TO ME WHY UNTIL WE GOT OUT OF THE CAR AND SAW FLAMES BREWING UNDER THE CAR...IMMEDIATELY I SOUGHT AFTER MY CHILDREN TO GET TO A SAFE DISTANCE AND CALLED 911 - STATE TROOPER WAS AT EXIT 33 SO HE ARRIVED QUICKLY HOWEVER FRONT OF CAR ALREADY HAD FLAMES COMING UP TOWARDS WINDSHIELD - FRONT OF CAR WAS COVERED WITH FLAMES BEFORE FIRE TRUCK ARRIVED (PICTURES AVAILABLE) - INSURANCE COMPANY HAD INSPECTION COMPLETED AND ACCORDING TO THE INSPECTION (REPORT AVAILABLE) REFERENCE WAS MADE TO THE POINT OF ORIGIN BEING THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM...OUTSIDE OF EMOTIONAL DISTRESS (SEEKING THERAPY) NO PHYSICAL INJURIES OCCURRED. THE CONTACT LATER RECEIVED A PHONE CALL INFORMING HER THAT GENERAL MOTORS DENIED THE CLAIM. SHE CALLED GENERAL MOTORS AND THEY STATED THAT HER VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000.
REAR ROTORS RUSTING PLUS SQUEALING AND WEARING BRAKE LININGS AT ONLY 23,000 MILES. *TR

THE DEALER STATED THAT HER VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 08V231000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING:BRAKE LIGHTS:SWITCH). THE CONTACT WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR COSTS. I CAME ACROSS A 2002 CHEVROLET BLAZER LS RECALL #01V364000 ISSUED ON OR ABOUT MARCH 2002. I HAD FORGOTTEN ABOUT THE RECALL WHEN I HAD MY CAR REPAIRED AT JIM TRENARY CHEVROLET IN O FALLON, MO IN MARCH 2008. I LATER FOUND THE RECALL. THE REPAIR WORK THAT I PAID FOR MATCHED EXACTLY WHAT THE RECALL WAS ABOUT SO I ASKED FOR A REFUND FOR THAT WORK. THEY REFUSED SINCE MY VIN WASN'T ON GM'S LIST OF OPEN RECALLS. WHAT WENT WRONG WITH MY VEHICLE WAS WHAT WAS EXACTLY DESCRIBED ON THE RECALL. WHY WASN'T MY VIN INCLUDED? PART # 26100837 WAS A PART MENTIONED IN THE RECALL AND IT IS LISTED ON MY PAID INVOICE. *TR

NO OTHER LIGHTS WERE AFFECTED BY THE BRAKE LIGHT FAILURE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE RECALL NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. SOMEONE STOPPED ME AND SAID I HAD NO BRAKE LIGHTS. SAW THERE WAS A RECALL - ID01V36400 - FOR A HAZARD SWITCH CARRIER REPLACEMENT. HAD THE SWITCH FIXED ON OCTOBER 11,2007 FOR $187.01 BUT WAS TOLD THAT VIN # WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. CONTACTED CHEVROLET AND THEY SAID THE VIN # WAS NOT INCLUDED AND COULD NOT PAY FOR THE PROBLEM. IN JUNE, 2008 ANOTHER RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR THE SAME PROBLEM - ID 08V23100 - BUT VIN # WAS STILL NOT INCLUDED. HAVE FILLED OUT THE FORMS REQUESTING REIMBURSEMENT BUT NOTHING IS BEING DONE. IN THE MEANTIME, THE DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN SOLD AND CHEVROLET SAYS NOTHING CAN BE DONE. AT TIME OF REPAIR THE BLAZER ONLY HAD 65,000 MILES. THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM THAT OCCURRED IN BOTH THE RECALLS. *TR

THE MECHANIC STATED THAT NOTHING WAS WRONG. THE CONTACT LOCATED A SAFETY RECALL, BUT THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. HE BELIEVED THAT HIS VEHICLE SHOULD BE INCLUDED BECAUSE IT WAS EXPERIENCING THE SAME FAILURE. THE RECALL NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 50,000.

THE WHEEL BEARINGS ON MY 2002 2-DOOR CHEVY BLAZER WENT AT JUST UNDER 54,000 MILES. BOTH FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS HAD TO BE REPLACED. IT WAS SUGGESTED THAT I REPORT THIS BECAUSE THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN TO A VEHICLE WITH SO LITTLE MILEAGE.*JB

THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 01V364000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING:BRAKE LIGHTS:SWITCH) AT 924 MILES. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 68,000.

THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE SEAT BELTS WERE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE ENGINE SIZE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 71,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,900.
REAR BRAKE LIGHTS & THIRD LIGHT WERE STAYING ON INTERMIT. WHITE SMOKE IS NOW COMING FROM STEERING WHEEL AFTER THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH WAS REPLACED TODAY. THIS SWITCH SHOULD HAVE BEEN TO THE SUBJECT PRIOR RECALL OF BLAZER BRAKE LIGHT AND MULTI FUNCTION BREAK LIGHT SWITCHES. ACCORDING TO THE REPAIR SHOP, THE OLD BREAK LIGHT SWITCH SHOWED A BURN MARK. AND, I KEPT THE OLD PART. WE JUST DROVE IT HOME AND THE BREAK LIGHTS STILL STAYED ON AND THE SMOKING STARTED WHICH SCARED ME SO THE SHOP HAS IT ONCE AGAIN THIS TIME TO REPLACE THE MULTI- FUNCTION SWITCH. NOTE: THAT WE WERE TOLD BY GM CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT OUR BLAZER WAS A FEW VIN NUMBERS OFF THE RECALL AND WASN'T EFFECTED BY THE BREAK LIGHT RECALL.......... THE PROBLEM WAS IN AT THE TIME. THE REPAIR SHOP IS NOW IN THE PROCESS OF CHANGING OUT THE SECOND SWITCH AT GREAT COST TO US. *NM
TL* - THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CHEVROLET TRAIL BLAZER LP. THE CONTACT STATED THAT TRANSMISSION COOLANT LINES DESIGN WAS FLAWED. THE THE COOLANT LINES WERE CLOSE TO THE EXHAUST PIPE MANIFOLD, AND THEY HEATED UP AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE COOLANT LINES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THIS WAS VERY COSTLY, AND SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL. MY FIANCE HAD PURCHASED A 2002 S10 CHEVROLET BLAZER IN OCTOBER OF 2004 BECAUSE HE WANTED ME TO HAVE SOMETHING THAT WAS SAFE AND DEPENDABLE TO DRIVE. JUST RECENTLY MY CHILDREN WERE DRIVING THE BLAZER WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THERE WASN'T ANY POWER FROM THE MOTOR. THE BLAZER STALLED AND MY DAUGHTER WHO WAS DRIVING TRIED TO RESTART THE ENGINE WHEN A PASSING MOTORIST YELLED OUT TO HER TO GET OUT OF THE CAR THAT IT WAS ON FIRE. THE ENTIRE ENGINE COMPARTMENT HAD CAUGHT ON FIRE FROM A FAULTY FUEL LINE FITTING. I WAS UNAWARE OF A RECALL TO REPLACE THIS AND NEEDLESS TO SAY I AM HIGHLY UPSET THAT I HAD COME VERY CLOSE TO LOSING TWO OF MY CHILDREN. A CAR CAN BE REPLACED BUT MY CHILDREN'S LIVES CANNOT. THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE BROUGHT OUT INTO THE PUBLIC SO OTHERS WILL KNOW OF ITS POSSIBLE DANGERS. THIS TIME I WAS EXTREMELY LUCKY, BUT ANOTHER CONSUMER MAY NOT BE. THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM OCCURRED ON MY VEHICLE THAT HAD BEEN PREVIOUSLY REPORTED BY ANOTHER CONSUMER. "IF THE FITTING BECOMES DISCONNECTED WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, THE ENGINE WOULD STOP DUE TO INADEQUATE FUEL SUPPLY AND CAUSE LOSS OF POWER STEERING ASSIST. IF AN IGNITION SOURCE WERE PRESENT, FUEL LEAKAGE FROM A DISCONNECTED FUEL FILTER FITTING COULD RESULT IN A FIRE". WELL IN THIS CASE THE WORD "COULD" IS REPLACED WITH THE WORD "CAN". WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO GET THE WORD OUT THAT THERE ARE FAULTY MECHANISMS THAT CAN CAUSE GREAT BODILY HARM? I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED BY THE DEALERSHIP NOR GENERAL MOTORS CORP. THAT THIS WAS PROBLEMATIC. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CHEVROLET BLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. BRAKE LIGHTS WORK INTERMITENTLY, CAN GET THEM TO WORK SOMETIMES BY PUSHING THE HAZARD LIGHT SWITCH ON AND OFF, BUT MAY STILL WORK ON AND OFF. ON 02/04, CONTACT BROUGHT VEHICLE BACK TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP, WHO STATED THAT THEY WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE, AND FOR THE CONTACT NOT TO RETURN WITH THE VEHICLE. THIS YEAR THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED THE SAME INCIDENT AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP, ) AND THEY STATED THAT THE REASON THE VEHICLE WAS HAVING THE PROBLEM WAS BECAUSE THE GROUND WIRE WAS FAILING, CREATING A SURGE OF POWER TO THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, AND CR A FAILURE IN THE ABS CONTROL MODULE. THE ABS CONTROL MODULE AND THE WIRE HARNESS WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. *AK

FOUND OUT ABOUT A RECALL AND CALLED GM WHO SAID THAT THE BLAZER WAS 50K OFF ON THE VIN NUMBER FROM THE EFFECTED VECH'S. WE HAD GM OPEN A FILE#1408511117 AND TOLD THEM THAT WE WERE REPORTING THIS TO NHTSA BECAUSE WE SHOULD FALL UNDER THE RECALL FOR THIS KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE. *NM

THE TIMING CHAIN HAD FRACTURED, THE SPARKS PLUGS HAD MELTED AND THE PISTONS HAD FAILED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE ALERTED.

THE HEATER AND DEFROSTER FAILED TO GENERATE HEAT. NO EVENTS LEADING UP TO FAILURE. THIS FALL WHEN WE NEEDED THE HEAT AND WINDOW DEFROSTER JUST LUKE WARM AIR WAS COMING OUT. THE INTAKE HOSE TO THE HEATER WAS HOT THE OUT TAKE HOSE WAS COLD. THIS FAILURE CAUSES A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE FRONT WINDOW WILL NOT UN-FOG AND THE ICE AND SNOW WILL NOT MELT OFF THE FRONT WINDOW. THE DRIVER CAN NOT SEE OUT OF THE FRONT WINDOW. DROVE FROM OHIO TO FLORIDA, 1040 MILES. 250 MILES INTO THE TRIP, MY CONSOLE BECAME EXTREMELY HOT. THE SIDE OF THE CONSOLE TOUCHES THE DRIVERS SEAT AND IT WAS MAKING MY SEAT VERY HOT. THE ITEMS INSIDE MY CONSOLE MELTED, THE HAND WASH BURNT MY HAND WHEN I TOOK IT OUT TO USE IT. NOW THE CONSOLE IS GETTING HOT ONLY AFTER 50 MILES AND SOMETIMES LESS THAN THAT. ALSO, THE CD PLAYER GETS HOT. THE CD'S OCCASIONALLY BECOME SO HOT THAT I DROP THEM WHEN THEY GET SPIT OUT BY THE PLAYER BY ITSELF. WASN'T SURE WHAT HAPPENED, SO I GOT OUT ON THE ROAD AND COULDN'T ACCELERATE FAST ENOUGH UP A HILL AND ALMOST GOT REARENDED BY A CAR GOING 60-65 MPH. PULLED OVER AND FINALLY FIGURED OUT THAT IT WOULDN'T SHIFT OUT OF 2ND AND I HAD NO REVERSE. CALLED LOCAL CHEVY DEALER AND HE IMMEDIATELY KNEW WHAT HAD BROKEN. (SOMETHING CALLED THE SUN SHELL CASING OR SUN GEAR, I THINK). I ONLY HAVE 50K MILES ON THAT CAR AND NOW HAVE BEEN TOLD THEY WONT JUST REPLACE THE PART, THEY HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE TRANNY.

THIS FIRST HAPPENED ABOUT A WEEK AGO ON JULY 10, 2005. REPLACED THE BATTERY, BUT THE BRAKE LIGHTS AND HAZARD LIGHTS DID NOT WORK, CHECKED THE FUSES, AND WENT TO REPAIR SHOP THE PUT IN NEW SWITCHES AND STILL DID NOT.*AK

I CONSIDER THIS TO BE AN ONGONING PROBLEM THAT SHOULD BE REPLACE BY GM. THEY TELL ME IT WILL COST $450.00 TO REPLACE. FRONT WHEEL HUB ASSEMBLY WENT BAD
I JUST SAW THE RECALL OF GM TRUCKS AND SUV'S FOR "UNWANTED APPLICATION OF THE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM". I WAS DISAPPOINTED TO SEE THAT THE BLAZER IS NOT INCLUDED ON THIS LIST BECAUSE I OWN A 2002 BLAZER, AND I HAVE EXPERIENCE THIS PROBLEM ON TWO OCCASIONS. TRAVELING AT ABOUT 30 MILES PER HOUR ON DRY PAVEMENT THE ANTILOCK SYSTEM ACTIVATED AS SOON AS I APPLIED THE BRAKE PEDAL DUE TO AVOID TURNING TRAFFIC IN FRONT OF ME. THE ANTILOCK SYSTEM CONTINUED TO CHATTER UNTIL I RELEASED THE PEDAL ABOUT 5 SECONDS LATER. BRAKING WAS MINIMAL DURING THIS TIME, AND I MIGHT HAVE HIT THE TURNING VEHICLE IF IT HAD STAYED STOPPED. *NM
