MY CHEVY COBALT JUST REACHED THE 40,000 MILE MARK RECENTLY AND HAS BEEN PRESENTING A POWER STEERING DEFECT. I UNDERSTAND THE CAR OPERATES ELECTRICALLY, HOWEVER, THERE HAS BEEN NO WARNING OF A POWER STEERING PROBLEM. MY STEERING WHEEL PICKS AND CHOOSES WHICH DAY IT WANTS TO LOCK UP AND STOP WORKING. THE FIRST TIME THE POWER STEERING ACTED UP, I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN. I WAS TERRIFIED BECAUSE MY STEERING WHEEL WOULDN'T TURN ENOUGH TO COMPLETE THE TURN, EVEN BY USING ALL MY STRENGTH. HOWEVER, MY CARS PROBLEM IS OCCURRING MORE FREQUENTLY AS OF LATELY. THIS PROBLEM COULD OF VERY WELL CAUSED MY LIFE. HAVING RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM I'M EVEN MORE TERRIFIED SEEING AS I AM BEGINNING TO EXPERIENCE THESE PROBLEMS. I'M UPSET AND DISTURBED THAT THIS ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED. ONGOING OBVIOUS ELECTRICAL ISSUES WITH AN '05 CHEVY COBALT -- KEY WON'T COME OUT OF IGNITION, LIGHTS & RADIO GO OFF AT WILL, NEW BATTERY DIES EVERY 3RD DAY IN ALL WEATHER. BOUGHT CAR USED IN '08 WITH 45,000 MILES. PROBLEMS STARTED ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AND HAVE BEEN CONSISTENT EVERY SINCE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED FOR THE RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 10V073000, STEERING ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AND SHE COULD NO LONGER CONTROL THE STEERING WHEEL. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER THEN TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THEY WERE IN THE PROCESS OF DIAGNOSING THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 80,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET COBALT. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO JERK AND THE POWER STEERING FAILED WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE FAILURE OCCURRED THREE TIMES BEFORE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE MOTOR SENSOR, STEERING COLUMN AND RACK AND PINION SHAFT WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 54,000.
I RECENTLY HAD POWER STEERING PROBLEMS WITH MY 05 CHEVY COBALT. I WENT TO PREMIER DEALERSHIP IN BROOKLYN CT TO HAVE THE RECALL DONE AFTER EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS MY POWER STEERING. THE POWER STEERING LIGHT WOULD GO ON AND WOULD BE HARD TO TURN MY WHEEL, ENGINE LIGHT ON AND CAR SECURITY LIGHT WENT ON. AFTER THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED TODAY MY CAR RAN SMOOTHLY AND THOSE LIGHTS DID NOT GO ON. HOWEVER ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP I STILL NEEDED A WHOLE POWER STEERING COLUMN REPLACED... AND THE CHARGE WAS 805 TO DO THE WHOLE JOB. TO "LOOK" AT THE SUPPOSED OTHER PROBLEM COSTS ME 113.00. NOW THE RECALL WAS SUPPOSEDLY "FREE" FOR ME. *TR
I OWN A 2005 CHEVY COLBALT LS THAT I PURCHASED TWO MONTHS AGO. THERE WAS A RECALL #20110023. I TOOK IT TO A CHEVY DEALER AND THEY "FIXED" THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING MOTOR. ABOUT A MONTH LATER, I WAS DRIVING ON BEVERLY RD IN PITTSBURGH, 35MPH OR LESS, I TURNED THE WHEEL TO THE RIGHT AND TRIED TO TURN IT BACK TO CENTER BUT IT WOULD NOT RESPOND, CAUSING ME TO HIT A TELEPHONE POLE AND $6000 WORTH OF DAMAGE. *TR
I ENTERED THIS ONCE, COMPLAINT #10356159 BUT MY DAUGHTER IS STILL PAYING FOR THE ACCIDENT. SHE WAS CHARGED BECAUSE THEY SAID SHE WAS AT FAULT. SHE HAD THE STEERING "FIXED" BY THE DEALER AND ABOUT A MONTH LATER IT DID NOT RESPOND IN A TURN. SHE HIT A TELEPHONE POLE. *PLEASE NOTE...THE INCIDENT DATE IS APPROXIMATE. WE HAVE A 2005 CHEVROLET COBALT SEDAN THAT WAS INVOLVED IN THE RECALL FOR THE POWER STEERING MOTOR INTERMITTENT POWER STEERING FAILURE. WE HAD NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING PRIOR TO THE RECALL BEING PERFORMED. AFTER THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED, WE BEGAN HAVING TROUBLE WITH INTERMITTENT POWER STEERING FAILURE - PLUS ADDITIONAL FAILURES. UPON START-UP, WE HAVE EXPERIENCED NO POWER STEERING, AND HAD TO SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND RETRY NUMEROUS TIMES BEFORE THE POWER STEERING RETURNS. IN ADDITION TO LOSS OF POWER STEERING, WE HAVE EXPERIENCED THE FOLLOWING ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS: TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT ILLUMINATING RANDOM CLICKING OF THE BRAKE SAFETY INTERLOCK RELAY / ACTUATOR (WITHOUT TOUCHING THE BRAKE). CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TRANSMISSION GOING INTO "LIMP MODE"..."SLAMMING" INTO GEAR WHEN SHIFTING FROM PARK - OR IMPROPER SHIFTING WHILE DRIVING. RANDOM DASH GAUGE FAILURE RANDOM FAILURES OF THE "DRIVER'S INFORMATION CENTER" - FLASHING, ETC. THIS WAS INITIALLY HAPPENING ONLY UPON START-UP...BUT STARTED HAPPENING WHILE DRIVING AS WELL - NEARLY LEADING TO AN ACCIDENT WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ON A BUSY URBAN STREET. SHE WAS FORTUNATELY ABLE TO DRIFT INTO THE TURN LANE AND COME TO A STOP TO AVOID A COLLISION AND LIKELY SERIOUS INJURY TO HERSELF AND OTHERS, AS IT WAS VIRTUALLY UNCONTROLLABLE. IN ADDITION TO THE LOSS OF POWER STEERING (WHILE DRIVING), THE TRANSMISSION ALSO WENT INTO "LIMP MODE", CAUSING VERY HARD SHIFTING AND MUCH DIFFICULTY IN DRIVABILITY. THIS HAS ALSO HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE. I AM 6'3", 260LBS., AND I WAS STRUGGLING TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. I HAVE ALSO BEEN IN CONTACT WITH OTHER COBALT OWNERS WITH THE EXACT SAME SET OF "SYMPTOMS". IT IS CLEAR THAT THE MOTOR REPLACEMENT WAS NOT SUFFICIENT TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM, AND - IN SOME CASES - MAY BE LEADING TO FURTHER PROBLEMS AS IN OUR CASE. THIS VEHICLE IS VERY DANGEROUS! *TR
RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE FOR MY 2005 COBALT SEDAN(71,000 MILES), IN MARCH OF 2010. THE RECALL WAS RELATED TO THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING UNIT. THE ELECTRIC MOTOR THOUGHT TO BE THE PROBLEM WAS REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE BY LOCAL DEALER, NO PROBLEMS WITH STEERING UP TO THAT POINT. JUST RECENTLY(AUG 2010), I STARTED EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH THE STEERING. THE POWER STEERING LIGHT WOULD FLASH ON AND DING. THE CAR WOULD IMMEDIATELY LOSE POWER AND THE DOOR LOCKS WOULD LOCK AND UNLOCK BY THEMSELVES. IT WAS AS THOUGH A SWITCH HAD BEEN THROWN. AND THEN IT WOULD GO AWAY. THE LOCAL DEALER THAT TROUBLESHOOT THE PROBLEM CHARGED ME $55 AND SAID THERE WAS AN ELECTRICAL SHORT TRIGGERING ERROR PROBLEMS WITHIN THE STEERING COLUMN MODULES. I ASKED IF IT WAS RELATED TO THE PROBLEMS THEY HAD WITH THE STEERING ELECTRIC MOTORS AND HE SAID THIS WAS ANOTHER UNRELATED ISSUE. SURE. SO I CALLED A REPUTABLE LOCAL MECHANIC AND EXPLAINED MY PROBLEM. HE SAID HE HAS REPLACED SEVERAL STEERING COLUMN UNITS AT A COST OF $900 A POP. I CAN SEE WHY GM'S PARTS AND LABOR GUYS LOVE THIS. HE ALSO SAID THE ENTIRE COLUMN IS FAULTY AND THEY ALL SHOULD BE REPLACED. OF COURSE NOTHING WILL HAPPEN UNTIL A CONGRESSMAN'S RELATIVE GETS BADLY HURT OR KILLED. I AM SURPRISED THAT THE NHTSA HAS NOT FOLLOWED UP ON THE ORIGINAL RECALL FIX AS THAT WAS ONLY THE TIP OF THE ICEBERG FOR A MUCH BIGGER PROBLEM. I UNDERSTAND THERE ARE SEVERAL THOUSAND PEOPLE EXPERIENCING STEERING ISSUES THAT CAN BE SEVERE AT TIMES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN OVERPOWERING ODOR OF GASOLINE BEING EMITTED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS A CRACK IN THE FUEL PUMP. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09V419000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: DELIVERY FUEL PUMP) HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE RECALL WAS ONLY ISSUED FOR THE 2006 AND 2007 MODEL YEAR VEHICLES. THE VEHICLE WAS REPLACED. I WAS ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK WHEN A KID FAILED TO YIELD TO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I HIT HIM ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WITH THE FRONT OF MY VEHICLE. I WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH. HIS AIRBAGS DEPLOYED, MY AIR BAGS DID NOT. I PROCEEDED TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH GM. AFTER SEVERAL MONTHS GOING BACK AND FORTH WITH THE COMPLAINT PROCESS WITH GM: THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. THEY ALSO STATED THAT WITH THE TYPE OF FRONT END IMPACT, THEY WOULD NOT EXPECT THE AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY. I ARGUED THAT THE OTHER CARS DID WITH A SIDE IMPACT, MINE SHOULD HAVE WITH A FRONTAL IMPACT. I DO HAVE PICTURES THAT TELL THE STORY VERY CLEARLY. I ALSO WENT THROUGH 6 - 8 WEEKS OF PHYSICAL THERAPY TO TRY AND COPE WITH THE PAIN. I STILL HAVE PAIN 3.5 YEARS AFTER THE CRASH. THE EVENT LEADING UP TO THIS I WOULD TRY TO UNLOCK THE DOORS FROM INSIDE TO LET FAMILY MEMBERS IN AND I NOTICED THAT THEY UNLOCK BUTTON DID NOT WORK SO I WAS LIKE MAYBE ITS A FUSE WELL MY BOYFRIEND CHECKED THE FUSE AND IT WAS STILL IN GREAT SHAPE. SO THEN I STARTED TO NOTICE THAT MY LOCKS WOULD GO UP AND DOWN UP AND DOWN BY THEIRSELVES SO I CHECKED THE FUSE ONCE AGAIN SAME THING GREAT SHAPE SO IT KEPT ON DOING THIS AND FINALLY I SAID IM TAKING THE FUSE OUT SO I DID AND NOW I HAVE TO HAND LOCK ALL MY DOORS I DISLIKE THAT. THIS IS WHAT CUTS THE CAKE I WAS COMING HOME FROM WORK AS I WAS GOING DOWN THE HILL MY CARS LIGHTS START TO DIM I WAS LIKE WHAT IN THE WORLD IS GOING ON SO THEN THE CAR STARTED TO GO HAYWIRE ON ME THE CARS GAUGES STARTED TO MOVE UP AND DOWN BY THEIRSELVES MY WHOLE CAR WENT PITCH BLACK I DID NOT HAVE ANY LIGHTS BACK OR FRONT ITS LIKE MY CARS WAS JUST A BLACK BALL I HAD NO LIGHTS MY BLINKERS DID NOT WORK MY FLASHERS DID NOT WORK. THERE WERE LIKE 10 OTHER CARS BEHIND ME I WAS PRAYING TO GOD THAT NOBODY WOULD HIT ME SO I PULLED OVER MY SYMBOLS WAS COMING ON AND GOING DOWN ON MY GAUGES WAS STUCK IN DOWNWARD MODE GAS HAND MPH HAND MY CD PLAYER (FACTORY INSTALLED WITH CAR) QUIT WORKING IT STILL DOES NOT WORK AND IM STILL HAVE THIS PROBLEM......BUT BEFORE ALL THIS MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SO I TOOK IT TO AUTO ZONE AND HAD THEM PUT IT ON THEIR MACHINE AND HE TOLD ME THAT IT WONT READ IT SO HE SAID THERE IS A ELECTRICAL PROBLEM AND YOU BETTER GET THAT FIX BEFORE YOUR CAR CATCHES FIRE YEA HE SCARED ME BUT HEY MY CAR IS ALL I GOT AND I DON'T HAVE ANY OTHER MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION SO COULD YOU PLEAS TELL ME WHAT THE HECK WENT WRONG. THE DEALER MADE THREE ATTEMPTS TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING A RESPONSE FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 87,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE DOOR HANDLES WERE INOPERABLE AND HE WAS UNABLE TO ENTER OR EXIT THE VEHICLE IF A CRASH OR FIRE OCCURRED; THEREFORE, A PASSENGER HAD TO EXIT THROUGH THE WINDOW. THE CONTACT DID NOT INFORM THE DEALER OR MANUFACTURER OF THE FAILURE, NOR WAS THE FAILURE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 125,741 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 100,000.
HAD MY WIFE'S 2005 CHEVROLET COBALT IN FOR THE POWER STEERING RECALL. THE ONLY PROBLEM WE HAD PRIOR TO THE RECALL WAS THE FAILED REAR CONTROL-ARM BUSHINGS ON BOTH FRONT CONTROL ARMS (BOTH FAILED WITHIN THE SAME MONTH). NOW, AFTER HAVING THE RECALL PERFORMED, WE ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH (OF ALL THINGS) LOSS OF POWER STEERING. THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON, THE BRAKE SAFETY INTERLOCK CLICKS (UNDER THE AUTOMATIC GEAR SELECTOR IN THE CENTER CONSOLE), AND WE HAVE NO POWER STEERING! I CANNOT LET MY WIFE DRIVE THIS IN THIS CONDITION, AS SHE IS SMALL AND NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO CRANK ON THE STEERING WHEEL WITHOUT THE POWER-ASSIST. I CALLED THE DEALER AND WAS ADVISED THAT I COULD BRING IT IN TO SEE IF THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE PART REPLACED IN THE RECALL - BUT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE DIAGNOSTICS. CALLED CHEVY AND GOT NOWHERE WITH THEM AS WELL. LEFT THE CAR AT OUR MECHANIC'S SHOP THIS MORNING TO GET A MORE RELIABLE DIAGNOSIS!! *TR
I HAVE A 2005 COBALT WITH 80,000 ON IT .THE DRIVERS DOOR LOCKS UP ALL THE TIME, I CAN'T GET IN OR OUT. ITS HAPPENING ALL THE TIME. ITS A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE IF I EVER GOT IN A ACCIDENT. I HAVE TIMES WHEN I HAD TO CLIMB OVER THE SEATS TO GET OUT. I HAVE READ MANY ISSUES ON THIS PROBLEM AND I THINK THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE. *TR
THE PROBLEM BEGAN WHEN MY 2005 CHEVY COBALT WOULD SHUT OFF ON ITS OWN WHEN SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT/SIGN. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. SEVERAL MONTHS LATER. THE CAR BEGAN TO JERK AS I WOULD DRIVE AT LOW SPEEDS (BELOW 25 MPH). IF I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON IT WOULD BE FINE. THEN SEVERAL WEEKS LATER AS I DROVE DOWN THE HIGHWAY (65 MPH) ALL THE GAUGES ON THE DASH BEGAN TO GO CRAZY AND THE POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON. AS I SLOWED THE CAR DOWN IT BEGAN TO JERK AS IT DID BEFORE AND THEN I COULD NOT TURN THE WHEEL. MY CAR WAS BROKE DOWN ON THE SIDE OF A VERY BUSY HIGHWAY DURING MORNING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALER. THEY THEN TOLD ME THAT THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. I HAD THE POWER STEERING PUMP REPLACED PER THE RECALL SEVERAL MONTHS AGO. SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME CAR ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. THE CHEVY DEALER WILL NOT FIX THE CAR BECAUSE THEY SAY THEY CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. THE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE BECAUSE IT WILL BRAKE DOWN AT RANDOM TIMES. *TR
I BOUGHT THE CHEVY COBALT (2005) IN THE FALL OF 2009. THE NEXT SUMMER I WAS NOTIFIED OF THE RECALL ON THE POWER STEERING. I HAVE SINCE BROUGHT MY CAR IN TWICE BECAUSE THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING HAS SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. TODAY, FOR THE THIRD TIME SINCE THE CAR WAS SUPPOSEDLY FIXED BY CHEVY THE POWER STEERING SHUT OFF AGAIN WHILE I WAS DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN AND IT SEEMS LIKE CHEVY IS JUST REPLACING WITH THE SAME DEFECTIVE PARTS. THE WHOLE SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE REPLACED OR A DIFFERENT MOTOR NEEDS TO BE USED FOR THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING. *KB
CAR STALLS WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, PULLING OUT, SITTING STILL. HAS BEEN DOING IT ALOT I HAVE 95,000 MILES I TOOK IT TO BE PUT ON THE SCOOP AT THE DEALERSHIP AND IT DIDN'T READ ANYTHING. HAD IT TO NUMEROUS SHOPS AND NO ONE KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS AND I HAVE CHILDREN. CHEVY SHOULD BE MADE TO RECALL THEM. I HAVE A 2005 COBALT COUPE WITH POWER STEERING PROBLEM. MY PROBLEM IT STILL HAPPENS ONCE IN WHILE EVEN THOUGH THE MOTOR WAS REPLACED.! DEALER HAS SEEN THE PROBLEM, BUT STATES THE PROBLEM HAS TO BE HAPPENING AT THE TIME WHEN THE MECHANIC CAN LOOK AT IT. I HAVE A 2005 COBALT COUPE WITH POWER STEERING PROBLEM. MY PROBLEM IT STILL HAPPENS ONCE IN WHILE EVEN THOUGH THE MOTOR WAS REPLACED.! DEALER HAS SEEN THE PROBLEM, BUT STATES THE PROBLEM HAS TO BE HAPPENING AT THE TIME WHEN THE MECHANIC CAN LOOK AT IT. I LEAVE IT AT THE DEALER AND THE WHEN THE MECHANIC GOES TO WORK ON IT, THE CAR IS FINE. I MY CASE IT HAS TO HAPPEN CLOSE TO HOME AND WHEN DEALER SERVICE IS OPEN. IT HAPPENS WHEN DEALER IS NOT OPEN ! AFTER HAVING THE RECALL WORK DONE ON MY 2005 CHEVY COBALT FOR THE POWER STEERING ASSIST LESS THAN 2 HOURS LATER ALL OF THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH START FLASHING ( BRAKE, ABS, TRACTION CONTROL, SECURITY ) THE TRANSMISSION STARTS ACTING UP AND YOU COULD HEAR A CLICKING NOISE COMING FROM THE SHIFTER AND THE DASH LED SAID POWER STEERING......AND SURE ENOUGH THE POWER STEERING FAILED, PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD SHUT THE CAR OFF FOR A FEW MINUTES THEN RESTARTED THE POWER STEERING RE-SET BUT THE REST OF THE PROBLEMS PERSISTED, FINALLY GOT THE CAR TO THE HOUSE BY MANUALLY SHIFTING THE TRANSMISSION BECAUSE IF I DIDN'T IT SHIFTED VERY HARD LIKE IT WAS GOING TO TEAR SOMETHING UP, GOT ON LINE FOUND THAT THIS PROBLEM IS FOUND IN OTHER COBALTS, ONE SUGGESTION WAS TO REMOVE THE BATTERY CABLE OVER NIGHT AND THAT SHOULD RE-SET EVERYTHING, I DID THAT AND SURE ENOUGH IT RE-SET IT, HOWEVER THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 15-20 TIMES SINCE THE RE-CALL WORK SO IT'S NOT THE ASSIST MOTOR AT FAULT IT IS G.M. EMS/FIRE HAD TO CUT HER OUT OF THE CAR AND SHE WAS TAKEN TO ST. FRANCIS HOSPITAL IN POUGHKEEPSIE WHERE SHE WAS IN THE IC UNIT FOR DAYS. IT WAS HOURS BEFORE SHE COULD EVEN SPEAK TO ADVISE DOCTORS TO SEND FOR HER FAMILY. SHE SUFFERED FROM BROKEN RIBS, CRUSHED CHEST, DISLOCATED SHOULDER, FACIAL AND BODY WOUNDS. THE CAR WAS RECALLED THE MONTH PRIOR BUT CHEVY DEALER (YONKERS) ADVISED THEY HAD NOT GOTTEN THE OK FROM GM TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR (STEERING) ON 2005 CHEVY COBALTS. GM KNEW OF THIS STEERING PROBLEM FOR YEARS - EVEN WHEN THE RECALL WAS OFFICIAL THE CHEVY DEALER WOULD NOT MAKE THE REPAIR. GM IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS. MY MOTHER WAS INJURED BADLY AND NEARLY KILLED. HE ALSO STATED THAT AFTER THE RECALL WORK WAS PERFORMED THE TEMPERATURE INDICATOR NO LONGER FUNCTIONED PROPERLY AND THE FUEL SENSOR NO LONGER MADE A BEEPING SOUND. WHEN HE OPENED THE DOOR, THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE WAS DISPLAYED, THEN THE MILEAGE AND NOW THE SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER ASKED HIM TO BRING THE VEHICLE BACK BUT THE CONTACT HAD NOT TAKEN THE VEHICLE BACK. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 96,309.
