ABOUT ONCE A MONTH "POWER STEERING" APPEARS ON DISPLAY, SOMETIME POWER ASSIST IS GONE, MOST TIMES IT IS STILL THERE BUT TRANSMISSION SHIFTS VERY HARD AND STALLS ENGINE WHEN STOPPED FOR RED LIGHT. IF POWER STEERING COMES ON RIGHT AWAY AFTER STARTING VEHICLE, SHUT OFF, SMACK PASS SIDE OF CENTER CONSOLE, THEN START, USUALLY OFF THEN, BUT IF VEHICLE IS HOT FROM SITTING IN SUN, OR VERY COLD IN WINTER, YOU HAVE TO DRIVE IT AND EITHER HEAT IT UP OR COOL IT OFF BEFORE PULLING OVER PARKING AND SHUT OFF FOR 15 MINUTES, THEN HIT IT THEN START IT. TOLD DEALER OF THIS BEFORE P/S RECALL WORK WAS DONE THEY SAID IT WAS NOT RELATED, WHEN I WENT TO PICK IT UP THEY ASK IF WE WERE HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE POWER STEERING AND TRANSMISSION, I SAID YES, THEY SAID OH HAVE A NICE DAY.

THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE RECURRED THE FOLLOWING DAY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 126,000.
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON SHOWING THE GAS TANK HAS LEAK IN THE LINE WHEN CHECKED BY SHOP THEY REPLACED LINES BUT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STILL COMES ON
LINES LEAKING RUSTED WITH HOLES....SHOULD HAVE BEEN COATED AND NOT EXPOSED TO WEATHER
OUR 2005 CHEVROLET COBALT HAS HAD ONGOING INTERMITTENT ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS THAT CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO SLAM INTO GEARS GOING WHEN ACCELERATING AND SLOWING DOWN. THIS IS ACCOMPANIED BY THE VEHICLE SHAKING. WHILE THIS IS GOING ON, THE SPEEDOMETER FLUCTUATES AND WE GET A POWER STEERING WARNING. MY SON HAS LOST THE POWER STEERING ASSIST OCCASIONALLY AND ONE TIME IT ALMOST CAUSED AND ACCIDENT. IF WE SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF, THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO GO AWAY BUT ONLY TEMPORARILY.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.

I HAVE NOTICE A FUEL LEAKAGE FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE OF MY CAR BY THE EXHAUST BETWEEN THE CLAPS ITS LEAKING FUEL I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC HE SAID IT WILL COST $450 DOLLARS TO FIX I DON'T HAVE THAT TYPE OF MONEY I LOOKED ON LINE AND FOUND OUT THAT THESE COBALT HAS A RECALL ON THE FUEL TANKS AND LINES I NEED YOU TO ITS NOT THE ITS THE DANGEROUS TO DRIVE IT I WOULDN'T DRIVE ITS ON THE STREET AND IT DRIPS QUARTER OF FUEL ON THE GROUND
TIMING CHAIN TENSER BOLT AND GUIDE BRAKES AND DESTROYS THE MOTOR ON CHEVROLET COBALT 2005 CAUSING THE CAR TO NOT START ALSO TURNS ON THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND GOES TO LOW POWER MODE ALSO THE TRANSMISSION HAS PROBLEM TOO
OUR VEHICLE IS LEAKING GASOLINE AND IS EXHIBITING THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS THOSE ADDRESSED IN THIS RECALL NHTSA CAMPAIGN #09V419000 BUT CHEVROLET SAYS THAT IT DOESN'T COVER THE 2005 MODEL AND WE BELIEVE IT SHOULD SINCE IT IS THE SAME PROBLEM.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT INTO THE REVERSE GEAR. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START WHEN PROMPTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 158,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I WOULD LIKE TO VOICE MY DISPLEASURE WITH HOW GENERAL MOTORS PERFORMED THEIR RECALL ON CHEVY COBALT VEHICLES. MY 2005 COBALT WAS PURCHASED BY DOBLES CHEVROLET (NOW QUIRK CHEVROLET OF MANCHESTER) BACK IN 2005. THE IGNITION SWITCH RECALL WAS SUPPOSEDLY PERFORMED IN MAY OF 2014. ON THE AFTERNOON OF TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, 2014, MY CAR LOST COMPLETE CONTROL. THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON FOLLOWED BY LOSING POWER STEERING AND THRUSTING VIOLENTLY. IT COULD'VE KILLED SOMEONE. NEEDLESS TO SAY, THE CAR WAS TOWED TO MY MECHANIC. MY MECHANIC AT CARK'S CAR CARE DIAGNOSED THIS AS AN IGNITION SWITCH ISSUE AND CALLED QUIRK CHEVROLET OF MANCHESTER ABOUT AN IGNITION SWITCH RECALL PERFORMED ON THE CAR. MY MECHANIC SPOKE TO SOMEONE IN SERVICE WHOM CONFIRMED THAT THE RECALL HAD BEEN DONE ONCE BUT THE IGNITION SWITCH SHOULD NOT HAVE GONE BAD SO SOON. MY MECHANIC SAID THAT THEY WERE INFORMED THAT BECAUSE THE IGNITION SWITCH SHOULDN'T HAVE GONE BAD SO SOON, THAT THE SERVICE WOULD BE DONE FREE OF CHARGE. UPON HEARING THIS I CALLED IN TO SCHEDULE AND WAS THAT THEY'D LOOK AT IT BUT IT WOULD NOT BE FREE BECAUSE THE RECALL IS ONE-AND-DONE. DURING CONGRESSIONAL TESTIMONY, MARY BARRA SPOKE ABOUT HOW SAFETY WAS OF THE UTMOST IMPORTANCE TO GM. I HEARD SUCH WONDERFUL THINGS ABOUT SAFETY AND CONSUMER CONFIDENCE; BUT ALL I'VE EXPERIENCE IS NEAR DEATH AND DESTRUCTION. FOR 9 YEARS I OWNED THE GEAR AND EXPERIENCED NO IGNITION SWITCH ISSUES; HOWEVER, ONLY TWO YEARS AFTER THE RECALL THAT 'NEW' PART COULD'VE LEAD TO A LETHAL ACCIDENT. I HAVE REACHED OUT TO SEVERAL PEOPLE AT GM INCLUDING THE DEALERSHIP AS WELL AS MARY BARRA HERSELF, BUT HAVEN'T RECEIVED A RESPONSE FROM ANYONE.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,693.

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 105,000.
FUEL PUMP MODULE LEAKS FUEL. VEHICLE SMELL OF GAS. CAN CAUSE A FIRE. WHEN SEATING STILL FUEL WILL LEAK ON THE GROUND WHEN CAR IS RUNNING OR WHEN STARTING THE CAR.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 108,000.
WHILE DRIVING IN TOWN SHORTLY AFTER TURNING ONTO A 45 MPH ROAD MY VEHICLE, AUTOMATIC, STARTED HESITATING WHILE SHIFTING INTO THE NEXT GEAR. IT WOULD SHIFT BUT NOT LIKE NORMAL. BROUGHT IT INTO A REPAIR SHOP TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC RAN TO BE INFORMED IT IS A FAILURE TO COMMUNICATE WITH TCM. CODE U0101 AND ALSO U2100. AFTER DOING RESEARCH THERE HAS BEEN MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS. SO FIRST THINGS FIRST REPLACED THE TCM WITH A NEW ONE AT THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER REPLACEMENT THE VEHICLE IS STILL NOT SHIFTING CORRECTLY.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING MOTOR FAILED. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V073000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 158,000. POWER STEERING MOTOR IS OUT, LOSE OF POWER STEERING ON DASH BOARD NO RECALLS WHEN THERE SHOULD BE
MY CARS PROBLEM STARTED WITH THE DRIVERS DOOR NOT OPENING FROM THE INSIDE OR OUTSIDE. THE CAR STAYS LOCKED EVEN USING THE KEY FOB, AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCK SWITCH OR KEY. I HAVE TO CRAWL THROUGH THE PASSENGER SIDE OVER THE CONSOLE TO ENTER OR EXIT THE VEHICLE. I AM WORRIED WHAT I WOULD DO IF THE PASSENGER DOOR DOES THE SAME THING. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE I CAN'T GET OUT OF MY CAR OR IN IT. I SEARCHED ONLINE AND SEVERAL PEOPLE HAD THIS SAME COMPLAINT.
WE HAVE NOTICED A SUDDEN LOSS OF ELECTRIC POWER STEERING, THIS IS INTERMITTENT. OUR DAUGHTER NOW DRIVES THIS CAR AND WE ARE SCARED THAT IT IS GOING TO GO OUT WHEN SHE IS IN TRAFFIC AND CAUSE A VEHICLE ACCIDENT.

LEAVES WET SPOT ON GROUND UNDER CAR NEAR PASSENGER SIDE REAR WHEEL ABOUT 18 INCHES IN DIAMETER WHILE PARKED. HARD STARTING. CONTACTED CHEVROLET AND A DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS NOT COVERED ON A RECALL.

THIS ISSUE SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE 2005 COBALT. PLEASE RESEARCH ANY CAR COMPLAINT WEBSITES ABOUT THIS CERTAIN VEHICLE. EVEN THOUGH ALL THE RECALLS HAVE BEEN TAKEN CARE OF, WHILE IN MOTION, AT ANY TIME AND ANY SPEED, THE DASH LIGHTS STARTS FLASHING AND YOU GET THE MESSAGE POWER STEERING ON MESSAGE CENTER, TC LIGHT COMES ON, LIGHT THAT SHOWS PADLOCK SYMBOL COMES ON, RPM NEEDLE JUMPS UP AND DOWN, STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP, MOTOR SURGES AND SHAKES, AND YOU HEAR ALL TYPES OF CLICKING SOUNDS BELOW GEAR SHIFTER. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS THING AND CHEVROLET/GM JUST CANNOT SEEM TO FIX THIS ISSUE OR EVEN FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THE 2005 COBALT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND ANY OTHER YEAR OF COBALT HAVING THIS ISSUE. I WILL GIVE YOU BELOW THE LAST DATE THIS HAS HAPPENED, BUT THIS HAS WENT ON SINCE WE GOT THE CAR IN 2008. MY DAUGHTER IS IN SCHOOL IN KANSAS CITY, AND THIS ISSUE HAS HAPPENED QUITE FREQUENTLY LATELY. THE ONLY REMEDY IS TO PULL TO SIDE OF ROAD, SHUT OFF VEHICLE AND RESTART AND HOPE IT DOES NOT ACT UP AGAIN. I JUST WONDER HOW MAY DEATHS HAVE HAPPENED ALREADY BECAUSE OF THIS FAULTY GM PRODUCT AND NO ONE KNEW IT WAS BECAUSE OF WHAT THE COBALT DID, LOCKED UP ON ITS DRIVER.

IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AFTER SOME TIME. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START INTERMITTENTLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE EXHAUST, OXYGEN SENSOR, THERMOSTAT AND OTHER UNKNOWN PARTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED AS THE CONTACT NOTICED FUEL LEAKING FROM UNDERNEATH THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
THE POWER STEERING ON MY VEHICLE CUTS OFF AND THE SPEEDOMETER REMAINS RESTED AT 0 WHEN DRIVING. THE DOORS ALSO LOCK AND UNLOCK ON THEIR OWN WHILE DRIVING. THE CAR DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY SHIFT WHILE DRIVING MAKING IT HARD TO ACCELERATE AND THE VEHICLE WILL ALSO DECELERATE ON ITS OWN WHILE DRIVING IT IS VERY DANGEROUS AND VERY SCARY TO DRIVE WITH THESE PROBLEMS. THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMS THAT THE PROBLEM WITH STEERING HAS ALREADY BEEN FIXED BUT I AM STILL HAVING THESE PROBLEMS.

MY 2005 CHEVROLET COBALT IS EXPERIENCING POWER STEERING FAILURE. THE ABILITY TO STEER OCCURS FREQUENTLY AND INTERMITTENTLY. VEHICLE LOSES POWER STEERING WHILE IN MOTION, WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURS THE VEHICLE JITTERS, ATTEMPTS TO STALL, CHIMES, AND A POWER STEERING NOTIFICATION APPEARS IN THE DRIVER INFORMATION PANEL. ALSO, WHEN THE POWER STEERING NOTIFICATION APPEARS THE SECURITY AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARS AND THE STEERING LOCKS MAKING THE ABILITY TO STEER DIFFICULT.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND FOR NO REASON MY CHEVY COBALT THEFT LOCK CAME ON (ABS) LIGHT STARTED FLASHING AND TRACTIONS CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON INDICATING THAT THE TRACTION CONTROL WAS OFF THEN IN MY DASH BOARD IT SAID POWER STEERING FAILURE THEN IT WAS ROUGH IDLING AND FUEL GOES UP AND DOWN THEN IT GIVES ROUGH GEARS THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IT HAS HAPPENED DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THIS IS NOT SAFE

THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH DOES NOT WANT TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE. IT FEELS LIKE THERE IS NOTHING CONNECTING TO OPEN IT. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AND I HAVE HAD TO CRAWL OVER PASSENGER SIDE TO OPEN IT FROM THE INSIDE. I UNDERSTAND THERE ARE LOTS OF PEOPLE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE, SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE.

ENGINE SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING. TWICE WHILE STOPPED AND 4 TIMES WHILE CITY DRIVING IN THE PROCESS OF MAKING A TURN. CAR SHUTS DOWN WITH KEY IN THE ON POSITION. I HAVE TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK, TURN THE KEY INTO THE OFF POSITION. I CAN THEN TURN THE KEY AND THE CAR TURNS BACK ON. I WAS ALMOST REAR- ENDED. THIS IS THE SAME THING THAT HAPPENED WHEN MY CAR WAS PART OF THE SAFETY RECALL 13454. I CALLED GENERAL MOTORS AT 1 800 222 1020. I TOLD THE GUY THAT THE SAME THING WAS HAPPENING THAT HAPPENED WHEN THEY HAD THE RECALL FOR THE IGNITION SWITCH. HE TOLD ME THEY WERE HAVING OTHER CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME THING HAPPENING. I ASKED HIM HOW COME THEY WEREN'T HAVING A RECALL ON THE RECALL? IT IS VERY SCARY DRIVING THIS CAR. I WAS TOLD THAT NOTHING WOULD BE COVERED AND I WOULD HAVE TO TAKE IT TO THE LOCAL CHEVY DEALER (WHICH IS 30 MILES AWAY)
MY CAR IS LEAKING FUEL AT THE GAS TANK. GM RECALLED THE 2006 COBALTS BUT MINE IS A 2005. MY CAR COULD EXPLODE AND GAS IN OUR PUBLIC WATER SYSTEM IS A HUGE CONCERN. THIS CAR IS A LEMON!! I HAVE EXTREME ANXIETY OF DYING IN THIS CAR. I NEED SOMEONE TO GET GM TO RECALL MY CAR ASAP BEFORE I DIE!! I CANT AFFORD TO FIX IT.
THE LIGHTS ALL OVER THE CAR INTERMITTENTLY WORK AND NOT WORK, THE BATTERY DRAINS AND HAVE REPLACE THE BATTERY 4 TIMES.THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE I GOT THE CAR WITHE THE LIGHTS. THE STEERING THING JUST STARTED, WHEN YOU MAKE A TURN THE STEERING BINDS UP AS IF THE POWER STEERING IS GOING OUT. ALSO ACTS AS IF THE CAR IS GOING TO STALL. THIS ONLY HAPPENS WHEN YOU ARE IN DRIVE POSITION. IN PARK IT DOESN'T DO THIS. THE POWER STEERING FLUID LEVELS ARE PERFECT. ALSO, WHEN THIS ISSUE STARTS, THE SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE BOUNCES UP TO 40 MPH EVEN THOUGH YOU ARE AT A STOP. THE RADIO WILL SUDDENLY TURN FULL BLAST SOUND FOR ABOUT 2 SECONDS AND TURN BACK DOWN. SCARES ME HALF TO DEATH. THERE IS A MAJOR ELECTRICAL PROBLEM IN THIS CAR FOR LIGHTS TO WORK ONE TIME AND THEN NEXT TIME NOT. I GO THROUGH LIGHT BULBS LIKE CRAZY, EVERY COUPLE OF MONTHS I AM CHANGING A DIFFERENT BULB. AND THE STEERING ISSUE IS UNSAFE, THE CAR COULD STALL WHILE TRYING TO TURN ACROSS TRAFFIC. STILL AFTER HAVING ALL RECALLS COMPLETED, THE CAR IS STILL NOT SAFE.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE, WHEN MY WARNING LIGHT CAME ON, AND SAID "ENGN PWR REDUCED" IT IMMEDIATELY SLOWED FROM 70 MPH, TO 10 MPH AND WOULDN'T REV PAST 2000 RPM'S. THE SOURCE CANNOT BE FOUND AS TO WHY IT HAPPENED AND ALMOST COST ME MY LIFE ON THE INTERSTATE.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: PE10005 (STEERING) AND NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V073000 (STEERING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,345.
