TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART AND AFTER A MILE, THE VEHICLE STARTED SMOKING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC AND DIAGNOSED THAT THE AC COMPRESSOR AND THE SERPENTINE BELT BURNED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED ACCORDING TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V171000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE DEALER STATED THAT THE AIR BAG MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000.
UNABLE TO REMOVE KEY FROM IGNITION SWITCH. THE CARS' ENGINE WILL CUT OFF, BUT THE KEY WILL NOT GO INTO THE OFF POSITION. IT ONLY TURNS THE KEY BACK TO THE ACCESSORY POSITION WHERE THE RADIO IS LEFT ON. HAD TO MANUALLY TURN OFF THE RADIO. UNSURE OF WHETHER OR NOT THE CAR SHOULD EVEN BE DRIVEN ANYWHERE ELSE. MY SON IS 18 AND JUST GOT HIS LICENSE IN APRIL. 3 MONTHS LATER HE IS DRIVING A VEHICLE THAT I THOUGHT WOULD BE A GREAT VEHICLE AND IT MADE ME FEEL PROUD KNOWING MY SON WOULD BE DRIVING AN AMERICAN MADE VEHICLE. A CHEVY. NOPE. THIS VEHICLE IS GOING TO BE FIXED, AND AS SOON AS THE DEALER GETS THE PART FOR THE IGNITION, WHICH ACCORDING TO THEM MAY TAKE 'UP TO 3 MONTHS' THIS CAR IS LEAVING OUR POSSESSION. THIS IS TOTALLY RIDICULOUS THAT IN A SITUATION WHERE YOUR VEHICLE WILL NOT TURN OFF, THEY CAN'T MAKE ANY EXCEPTIONS. I ALSO, HAVE A CHEVY COBALT BUT MINE IS A 2010. BOTH ARE ON THE RECALL LIST. WHEN I ORDERED MY PART, AND THIS WAS 2 MONTHS AGO, I WAS TOLD THE SAME THING. IF ANYTHING HAPPENS AND WE WRECK OUR VEHICLE, WE WILL BE SUING GM. BORN AND BRED CHEVY, BUT MY BLOOD WILL SOON BE BLEEDING BLUE FOR FORD. PERIOD. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. *TR
WE CAN SMELL GAS COMING FROM THE CAR. WE CAN'T EVEN PUT OUR VEHICLE IN OUR GARAGE BECAUSE IT SMELLS UP THE WHOLE HOUSE LIKE GASOLINE. MY HUSBAND TOOK IT APART AND SAID THAT THERE IS A LEAK IN THE FUEL PUMP. I WENT ON LINE AND NOTICE THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS BUT ONLY IN CERTAIN STATES. WHY IS THAT? WHAT DO WE DO NOW? WE ARE AFRAID TO DRIVE IT BECAUSE WE ARE AFRAID THAT IT WILL CATCH FIRE. PLEASE ADVISE. *JS
MY DEALER DROVE THE VEHICLE AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE STEERING COLUMN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THERE ARE METAL BEARINGS ENCASED IN PLASTIC IN THIS COLUMN. OVER TIME THE METAL WILL RUB AGAINST THE PLASTIC AND CAUSE PLAY IN THE BEARING. THE PLAY WILL CAUSE CHATTER WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS AND OTHER SAFETY ISSUES. BY DOING RESEARCH ON THIS MATTER I FOUND THAT THERE WERE LAWSUITS PLACED AGAINST THE MAKER OR THE STEERING COLUMN DUE TO THE FACT THAT GENERAL MOTORS HAD TO REPLACE SO MANY OF THESE COLUMNS UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE OF THIS DEFECT. I CONTACTED GM ABOUT THIS MATTER AND WAS GIVEN A CASE NUMBER AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY HAD NO WAY OF TELLING ME IF THE PROBLEM HAD BEEN FIXED OR THE STEERING COLUMN HAD BEEN MODIFIED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD THE SAME BY MY DEALER. GENERAL MOTORS TOLD ME OVER THE PHONE THAT ONE OPTION I HAD TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM WAS TO FILE THIS COMPLAINT WITH YOU. THERE IS A BULLETIN THAT WAS ISSUED ON THIS PROBLEM AND I WAS TOLD TODAY BY MY DEALER THAT THE BULLETIN HAD BEEN CANCELLED BY GENERAL MOTORS. WHY IT WAS CANCELLED IS A MYSTERY. MY DEALER ADVISED AGAINST ME CHANGING THE COLUMN SINCE IT IS A GOOD POSSIBILITY THAT THE PROBLEM WILL ARISE AGAIN WITH THE NEW COLUMN. *TR
AFTER HAVING IGNITION SWITCH REPLACED BY RECALL, 2 WEEKS LATER WE LOST THE USE OF POWER STEERING ASSIST, THE SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON, STEER WHEEL HARD TO TURN, FEELS LIKE MANUAL STEERING,WE TOOK VEHICLE IN FOR POWER ASSIST MOTOR REPLACEMENT UNDER RECALL WARRANTY, BUT DID NOT FIX PROBLEM?, DEALERSHIP SAYS THAT STEER COLUMN NEEDS REPLACED BUT, WE HAVE TO PAY $924.00 TO REPLACE. OUT OF POCKET. PICKUP FROM DEALERSHIP AND TOOK TO LOCAL SERVICE CENTER FOR ANOTHER OPINION. *TR

THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM UNDER THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE DID NOT HAVE THE ORIGINAL WIRING INSTALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 14V047000 (AIR BAGS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET COBALT. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, FUEL FUMES WERE EMITTED INTO THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A FUEL LEAKING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V419000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000. THE CONSUMER STATED ON I APRIL OF 2014, HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO HAVE TWO RECALLS PERFORMED; THE IGNITION AND POWER STEERING, AND HE SIGNED AN ESTIMATED TICKET STATING ONLY THOSE TWO THINGS WOULD BE DONE AND HE WAS QUOTED OF A PRICE OF $218. HOWEVER, WHEN HE RETURNED TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS, THE CONSUMER NOTICED THE INVOICE HAD BRAKE WORK AND A FUEL SYSTEM CLEAN OUT, AMONG OTHER ITEMS THAT WERE NOT REQUESTED OR AUTHORIZED. WHEN THE CONSUMER DROVE OFF THE LOT, THERE WAS AN ODOR AN GAS. A MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONSUMER IT WAS PROBABLY A BAD FUEL MODULE. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONSUMER, THERE WAS NO WAY THE DEALER DIDN'T KNOW THERE WAS A FUEL LEAK. UPDATED 07/30/14
I NOTICED A SMELL OF GAS WHEN ENTERING AND EXITING THE VEHICLE. WHEN I DRIVE WITH THE WINDOWS DOWN I CAN STILL SMELL GAS. ANY TIME THE VEHICLE IS PARKED WHEN LOOKING UNDER THE CAR YOU CAN SEE AND SMELL THE GAS DRIPPING ON THE GROUND. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION FOUND THE FUEL PUMP SEAL TO BE LEAKING THUS CAUSING THE FUEL TO LEAK ON THE GROUND. AS I RESEARCHED RECALLS I FOUND OUT THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE FUEL PUMP IN 2006 CHEVY COBALTS BUT IT WAS ONLY FOR CERTAIN STATES. THE GM RECALL NUMBER FOR THIS IS 090226. EVERY THING THAT WAS SAID IN THIS RECALL IS EXACTLY WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY VEHICLE. I DO NOT FEEL THAT IT IS FAIR FOR ME TO HAVE TO PAY FOR A MISTAKE THAT WAS MADE. *TR
OUR DRIVERS SIDE DOOR FREQUENTLY "STOPS" WORKING. YOU ARE UNABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR WITH THE INSIDE OR THE OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLES WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN PARK OR SHUT COMPLETELY OFF. THE OTHER 3 DOORS IN THE VEHICLE OPEN WITHOUT ISSUE, BUT THE DRIVERS DOOR REFUSES TO OPEN (AND I DO NOT CONSIDER HAVING TO CLIMB OUT THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR OR PLAY "DUKES OF HAZARD" A FEASIBLE ACTION). AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE COBALT AND G5. TO THIS EFFECT I AM NOT SURE HOW THIS HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED WITH A RECALL. IF I AM ABLE TO FIND THOUSANDS OF RESULTS ON THE ISSUE WITH A 30 SECOND INTERNET SEARCH IT HAS TO HAVE BEEN REPORTED. IT WOULD SEEM THAT THIS WOULD BE A FAIRLY HIGH PRIORITY FIX DUE TO THE RISK OF SOMEONE BEING TRAPPED INSIDE THE CAR IN THE EVENT OF A FIRE OR SOME OTHER CATASTROPHE. GRANTED I DO NOT EXPECT TO SEE A RECALL ON THIS AS IT IS NOT TECHNICALLY A LIFE OR DEATH DEFECT UNLESS YOU CONSIDER THE ABOVE SCENARIO. JUST THOUGH I WOULD TAKE THE TIME TO SUBMIT A COMPLAINT ABOUT A CAR THAT SEEMS TO HAVE WAY TOO MANY RECALLS IN ITS HISTORY ALREADY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A NOTIFICATION FOR RECALL NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V047000 (AIR BAGS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT AFTER THE RECALL REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED THE KEY WOULD WORK IN THE IGNITION SWITCH BUT FAILED TO UNLOCK THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AND HEARD THREE DINGS AND MY CAR FLASHES POWER STEERING, IT WAS DIFFICULT TO STEERING TO THE NEXT LANE TO TRY AND GET OFF THE FREEWAY THEN IT JUST SUDDENLY STARTED WORKING FINE. BUT NOW I'M WORRIED THAT IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. I'VE RECEIVED TWO LETTER ABOUT THE RECALL BUT NO DEALER IN MY AREA HAS THE PARTS, WAS TOLD I'D BE CALLED WHEN THEY ARRIVE. *TR
MY KEY HAS BEEN STUCK IN THE IGNITION FOR A MONTH NOW. IT HAS CAUSED MY BATTERY TO DIE EVERY TIME I LEAVE IT PARKED. I TOOK MY CAR TO GET THE IGNITION RECALL FIXED AND WHEN I ASKED IF THEY COULD REMOVE IT THEY TOLD ME ONLY AT AN ADDITIONAL COST BECAUSE IT WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. WHEN I GOT MY CAR BACK I WAS GIVEN TWO NEW KEYS WITH ONE STUCK IN THE IGNITION STILL. I WAS REALLY CONFUSED AS TO WHY THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T REMOVE MY KEY WITHOUT CHARGING ME WHEN THEY OBVIOUSLY REMOVED MY OLD KEY TO GIVE ME A NEW SET AND SOMEHOW MANAGED TO GET IT STUCK AGAIN. AFTER LOOKING UP HOW TO FIX IT I BELIEVE THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE SHIFTER. THERE HAVE BEEN LOTS OF COMPLAINTS ALL OVER THE INTERNET WITH VARIOUS CHEVROLET MODELS REGARDING THIS SAME ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE POWER STEERING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 19,350.
WHILE DRIVING A WARNING AND CHIME SOUNDED FOR THE POWER STEERING. WHEN I SLOWED DOWN TO STOP I NOTICED THAT THE POWER STEERING ASSIST HAD FAILED AND THE STEERING BECAME HARD DURING TURNING. I HAD TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP TO GET DIAGNOSED AND THEY STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP HAD FAILED. I KNOW THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP HAD BEEN REPLACED DUE TO A RECALL FROM GM 10023 FOR THE PUMP. RECENTLY THERE IS NOW A RECALL NUMBER 14115 THAT IS FOR CERTAIN VEHICLES TO REPLACE THE SAME PUMP. I CALLED GENERAL MOTORS CUSTOMER SERVICE AND COMPLAINED ABOUT THE PART FAILING AND REQUESTED THAT IF MY MODEL MIGHT BE ON THE LIST FOR THE NEW RECALL. THEY STATED THAT IT IS NOT FOR MY MODEL YEAR AND THAT IT IS ONLY FOR THE 2010 CHEVY COBALT. GM GAVE ME A CASE NUMBER AND TOLD ME THAT THEY COULD NOT HELP ME. I PAID TO HAVE THE MOTOR REPLACED WITH THE SAME MOTOR THAT IS PRONE TO FAIL. JUST LAST WEEK MY SISTER WHO HAS A 2006 CHEVY COBALT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM GM, SIGNED BY [XXX], TO HAVE THE POWER STEERING MOTOR REPLACED UNDER 14115. I WENT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO ASK THEM TO INVESTIGATE WHY SHE HAS RECEIVED A RECALL AND I HAD NOT. MY ANSWER WAS THAT I WOULD NEED TO MAKE A COMPLAINT HERE. ON THE FIRST WEEK OF JUNE 2014, MY 2006 CHEVY COBALT WENT IN FOR THE SAFETY RECALL 13454 (REPLACEMENT OF IGNITION SWITCH). (THIS WAS THE SECOND RECALL THIS CAR HAS HAD.) ON JUNE 19TH, 2014 WITH THE NEW IGNITION SWITCH INSTALLED BY THE LOCAL CHEVY DEALERSHIP, WHILE DRIVING THE CAR IN TOWN, AT SPEEDS OF 20 AND 30 MPH THE CAR LOST POWER TO STEERING, BRAKES WHICH MADE DIFFICULT EVEN TO STOP AND MANEUVER SAFELY OFF THE ROAD. THE CAR LOST MOST OF THE ENGINE PERFORMANCE BUT STAYED RUNNING. THE CAR WAS THEN TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED, WITH DASH LIGHT WARNINGS OF ENGINE LIGHT, TC LIGHT AND A CAR SECURITY EMBLEM LIGHT ON. THE CAR RAN WITH VERY LIMITED POWER AND STRANGE CLICKING NOISE WHICH WAS COMING FROM THE SHIFTER. I HAVE CELL PHONE VIDEO OF THE SHIFTER NOB CLICKING ALONG WITH CELL PICTURE OF THE DASH WARNING LIGHTS THAT ARE ON. CAR HAD TO BE "MAN HANDLED" TO GET IT TO A SAFE DESTINATION. THE BATTERY WAS DISCONNECTED A THEN RECONNECTED, WITH THE THOUGHT OF RESETTING COMPUTER. WHEN BATTERY WAS RECONNECTED THE CAR WAS 100% BACK TO NORMAL. FOR HOW LONG, IS ANYONE GUESS, THIS STRANGE OCCURRENCE HAS HAPPENED MORE THAN ONCE. THE CAR IS SCHEDULED TO GO TO THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP FOR FURTHER DIAGNOSTICS. THEY INFORMED THAT IT WILL BE A WEEK OR SO BECAUSE THEIR ALL BOOKED UP. WHAT A PAIN IN THE (YOU FILL THE BLANK). IF I HAD ENOUGH $$ TO REPLACE THE CAR, I WOULD HAVE THIS CAR CRUSHED SO THAT I WOULD NO LONGER BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY ACCIDENTS IT MAY CAUSE. *TR

THERE WERE NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. ALSO, THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT SHE WAS ABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION SWITCH WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 93,805. UPDATED 10/7/14*CN THE CONSUMER STATED THE STEREO HAS HAD MANY PROBLEMS, IT FAILED INTERMITTENTLY. TAKING THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION WAS DIFFICULT AND STRANGE NOISES COULD BE HEARD UPON ATTEMPTING TO DO SO. THERE WERE ALSO TO INCIDENTS THAT WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE WOULD LOSE ALL POWER. A COUPLE OF MONTHS LATER, THE CONTACT RECEIVED RECALL NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V171000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) AND NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V047000 (AIR BAGS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED UNDER BOTH RECALLS. HOWEVER, THE NEXT DAY THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT DURING SERVICE THE VEHICLE BATTERY TESTED LOW. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH FUSE HAD BLOWN AND THAT THE BATTERY HAD TESTED NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 141,420.
LIGHT GOES ON AND POWER STEERING COMES ON THE SCREEN TRANSMITION DOES NOT SHIFT RIGHT NO POWER STEERING THE CAR CAN'T BE DRIVEN SAFELY 43000 MILES AND IT WAS ALREADY FIXED ONCE. *JS
LEAVING WORK @ 3:00 PM ON SATURDAY 06/14/2014 AND ALL OF A SUDDEN LIGHTS ON DASH CAME ON AND "POWER STEERING" CAME UP ON THE (MILEAGE READ OUT) AND SHOWED THE MOTOR AND A LOCK ICONS (NO STEERING AT ALL). CALLED THE CHEVY DEALER IN MY AREA AND THEY CALLED A TOW TRUCK TO TOW TO THEM. ON MONDAY 06/16/2014 MORNING WAS IN THE DEALERSHIP EARLY, TECHNICIAN THAT HELPED ME ON SATURDAY WAS THERE AND TOLD ME THAT IT MUST HAVE "RESET ITSELF" SO THEY DID TESTING AND THEY DETERMINED THAT IS WAS A "STEERING CONTROL MODULE" HAD FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DOWN FOR 5 DAYS FOR THE MODULE AND THE ASSOCIATED RECALLS FOR THE IGNITION, PICKED IT UP ON FRIDAY 06/20/2014. I CONTACTED GRAFF CHEVROLET IN GRAND PRAIRIE TX ABOUT RECALL NOTICE 14V047/14V171 (GM 13454, 14063, 14113, 14133) IN MAY AND WAS TOLD TO COME BACK IN JUNE THAT THEY WOULD HAVE PART AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. I WENT ON JUNE 12 AND WAS THEN TOLD THAT WE WOULD BE ON WAITING LIST FOR AT LEAST A MONTH FOR PARTS TO COME IN. I LIVE WITH MY OLDER MOM, AND CARE FOR MY GRANDMOTHER WHO HAS ALZHEIMERS, BOTH OF WHICH NEED CONSTANT MEDICAL TREATMENT AND MEDICINES. I USE MY CAR TO TRANSPORT BOTH TO THEIR DOCTORS VISITS AND CANNOT HAVE ISSUES WITH MY CAR REGARDING THE RECALL NOTICE. I HAVE TROUBLE WITH THE KEY NOT TURNING THE IGNITION AT TIMES, AND SOMETIMES THE STEERING WHEEL WILL TEND TO WANT TO LOCK WHILE DRIVING. WE TOOK THE COBOLT TO OURISMAN CHEVROLET, ALEXANDRIA, VA FOR REPAIRS TO THE IGNITION SWITCH WHICH IS SUBJECT OF A RECALL. DEALER KEPT SAYING THE NECESSARY PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE AND IT WOULD TAKE MONTHS. WE TOOK THE CAR TO THEM SINCE WE HAD 2 EVENTS WHEN THE IGNITION TURNED OFF AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED. TO OUR SURPRISE THE DEALER HAD THE PART AND SUPPOSEDLY FIXED IT THE SAME AFTERNOON. ABOUT A WEEK LATER, WHEN WE WERE PULLING OUT OF THE PARKING LOT, THE CAR STARTED TO TURN OFF AND ON AND THEN THE IGNITION TURNED OFF COMPLETELY AND THE STEERING LOCKED, WHICH WAS THE SAME PROBLEM BEFORE THE SUPPOSED REPAIRS AND SUBJECT TO THE RECALL. WHILE DRIVING THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON RANDOMLY THEN BEGINS TO SHIFT VERY RUFF AND HARD. THIS COMPLAINT IS THAT THE FUEL PUMP RECALL FOR THIS CAR, WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V419000, DID NOT SHOW UP IN THE DATABASE VISIBLE TO EITHER MY MECHANIC OR A GM DEALER. THIS IS A LIFE-THREATENING PART FAILURE, WITH SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF GASOLINE LEAKING FROM THE CAR, EITHER WHILE IT IS MOVING OR STOPPED, AND I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF THIS ISSUE. MY CAR CURRENTLY HAS THIS PROBLEM, LEAKING GASOLINE AT QUITE A RAPID RATE. THE FUEL SMELL WHILE DRIVING IS UNBEARABLE. WHEREVER I PARK A PUDDLE OF GASOLINE FORMS UNDER THE CAR. I WAS SEARCHING BECAUSE I WAS PREPARING TO PAY $833 FOR MY MECHANIC TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY. WHEN I PHONED THE DEALER, HE SAID HE HAD TO GET TO "ANOTHER SCREEN" TO SEE THE SPECIAL COVERAGE ITEMS, AND HE ONLY DID THAT BECAUSE I PROMPTED HIM. APPARENTLY THEY DON'T HAVE A SYSTEM IN PLACE TO WARN CAR OWNERS OF THIS ISSUE EVEN WHEN THE OWNER HAS THEIR VEHICLE IN FOR A RECALL (WHICH MINE WAS IN THE LAST TWO YEARS). I HAVE ALSO NEVER RECEIVED A NOTICE OF THIS RECALL, AND I'VE OWNED THE CAR SINCE JANUARY OF 2007. HOWEVER, THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE .

CALLED LOCAL DEALER SAID CAR SAFE TO DRIVE. 5/31/2014 TO 6/3/2014 AFTER DEALER SAID BRAKE WARNING AND ABS NOT RELATED TOOK TO VERY LOCAL SHOP NO TOW, HAD BRAKES INSPECTED, NO LEAK PADS AND SHOES OK. THE SHOP FOUND ABS FUSE BLOWN. CODES IN DIAGNOSTIC U0121, U2105, U2106, U2108. WIRES TRACED TO SHORT IN IGNITION SWITCH. PAID $106.95 FOR INSPECTION. CAR UNABLE TO BE REPAIRED DUE TO PARTS ON BACK ORDER. 6/7/2014 CALL FROM GM CAR PICKED UP BY ROGERS TOWING 11AM. GM CALL WAS SEND TO DEALER NO DISCUSSION OF RENTAL AT THIS POINT. CAR SENT WITH RECALL PAPERS/TUFFY INSPECTION AND TECH SERVICE BULLETINS AND OTHER RECALL INFO. ALSO 1 KEY AND REMOTE SENT 6/7/2004 CALL FROM DEALER APPROX. 1PM, THEY HAVEN??T LOOKED AT CAR, BUT APPARENTLY READ REPORT. SERVICE MANAGER STATED DIDN??T REALLY CONSIDER THE TUFFY REPORT WAS A VALID REPORT AND THE SEE THIS ALL THE TIME WITH RECALLS. TOLD ME THAT AGAIN THE FUSES BLOWING ARE NOT RELATED. I RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE SENT OUT BY GM REGARDING REPLACING IGNITION SWITCHES, IGNITION CYLINDERS AND KEYS. I CALLED CARR CHEVROLET ON APRIL 24, 2014 AND WAS TOLD THE PARTS WOULD BE ORDERED AND I WOULD RECEIVE A RETURN CALL WHEN AVAILABLE TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT. AT THAT TIME I WAS TOLD THE ORDER WOULD TAKE 14-21 DAYS TO COME IN. APPROXIMATELY JUNE 1, 2014 I RECEIVED A POSTCARD FROM GM NOTING MY VEHICLE HAD NOT HAD SERVICE DONE; ON JUNE 6, 2014, I PHONED CARR CHEVROLET TO FOLLOW UP ON HOW LONG THE ORDER WOULD TAKE: THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AGAIN SAID I WOULD RECEIVE A PHONE CALL WHEN THE PARTS WERE IN AND THAT THE PARTS TOOK 30-45 DAYS TO COME IN. I HAD TO INSIST THAT HE LOOK UP MY NAME TO ENSURE THAT THE PARTS HAD BEEN ORDERED. INITIALLY, HE SAID GAVE A DATE OF APRIL 25, 2014, THEN CHANGED THE ORDER DATE TO MAY 15. WHEN I INQUIRED ABOUT THE DIFFERENCE, HE SAID THAT ALL ORDERS ARE PLACED AS SOON AS THEY COME IN, AND TOLD ME THAT I CALLED ON MAY 15, 2014. I SAID I WOULD CHECK MY NOTES BECAUSE THAT DIDN'T SOUND RIGHT; INDEED I CALLED ON APRIL 24, 2014 TO ORDER THE PARTS. I AM DISSATISFIED THAT CARR CHEVROLET WAITED 22 DAYS TO ORDER MY PARTS, AND THAT I HAVE WAITED, WITHOUT RESOLUTION, A TOTAL OF 46 DAYS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET COBALT. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT A SULPHUR ODOR EMITTED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART AFTER AN HOUR. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC BUT WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 14V047000 (AIR BAGS , ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) AND 14V171000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE CLEANED AND RESET AND THE BATTERY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 153,113.
MY VEHICLE SMELLS OF GASOLINE AND HAS BEEN LEAKING LIKE CRAZY. I AM GETTING LESS THAN 17 MILES PER GALLON AND LOSING A TON OF GAS DUE TO THE FUEL PUMP RECALL. I BELIEVE THAT IT SHOULD BE UNDER RECALL IN EVERY STATE AND NOT JUST A FEW. IF IT IS RECALLED ON ANY 2006 CHEVY COBALT I BELIEVE IT SHOULD BE RECALLED ON ALL OF THEM NO MATTER WHAT THE STATE. I LIVE IN MICHIGAN AND THEREFORE ITS STATED THERE IS NO RECALL FOR IT HERE. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS AND IN GM FOR SELLING A CAR WITH AS MANY RECALLS AS THE COBALT HAS AND ONLY CHOOSING VERY FEW STATES FOR THE RECALL TO BE GRANTED. I USED TO BE A HUGE GM FAN BUT, NOW AFTER HAVING AS MANY ISSUES AS I HAVE HAD WITH THIS CAR AND LIVING IN MICHIGAN NOT BEING ABLE TO HAVE IT FIXED UNDER RECALL, I NO LONGER FEEL THE SAME, IN FACT I AM STRONGLY THINKING OF GOING FOREIGN.
