THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THERE WAS A FUEL LEAK ENTERING THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY REPLACING THE FUEL PUMP MODULE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
THE FUEL PUMP WAS LEAKING FUEL FROM THE TOP OF THE PUMP AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THIS WAS A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE FUEL WAS LEAKING ON TO THE GROUND. THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE OTHER 2006 COBALT'S WERE RECALLED FOR IN OTHER STATES, RECALL # 09V419000. MY CAR WAS NOT PURCHASED OR REGISTERED IN THOSE STATES BUT IT STILL EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM. I WANT TO BE REIMBURSED BY THE MANUFACTURE FOR THE REPAIRS. *TR

THE MECHANIC CONFIRMED THE FUEL PUMP MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY CONFIRMED THE VIN FAILED TO QUALIFY FOR A RECALL UNDER : 09V419000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 55,000.

THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AGAIN OF THE FAILURE AND WAS TOLD WHAT THE MANUFACTURER CONFIRMED BUT THEY REFUSED TO DO ANY REPAIRS ON THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE DEVELOPED A GAS LEAK DUE TO A FAULTY FUEL MODULE, GAS IS LEAKING FROM THAT PART. THERE IS A RECALL ON THAT VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE MAKE, MODEL, YEAR AND VIN# MATCH UP, I'VE BEEN TOLD BY ONE DEALERSHIP THAT IT WAS COVERED UNDER THE RECALL AND BY ANOTHER DEALERSHIP THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED. I WAS TOLD THAT IT WON'T BE COVERED BECAUSE THE VEHICLE IS NOT FROM A PARTICULAR STATE WHERE THE RECALL COVERS THE PROBLEM. IT HAS BEEN ALMOST A WEEK OF TRYING TO GET ANSWERS FROM GM TO FIND OUT WHY THE RECALL DOESN'T COVER THE PROBLEM JUST BECAUSE IT'S NOT FROM OTHER STATES, (AZ, CA, FL) ARE JUST A FEW OF THE STATES THAT HAVE THE RECALL ON THE SAME VEHICLE, SAME DEFECTIVE PART, WHERE THE RECALL COVERS. THE COST TO FIX THE PROBLEM IS WELL OVER $600.00 FOR A PROBLEM THAT GM IS WELL AWARE OF BUT ARE SO FAR UNWILLING TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR DEFECTIVE PART. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTICS WHERE THE MECHANIC ADVISED THAT THE SENDING UNIT WAS FRACTURED AND WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. I STARTED SMELLING A GAS ODOR AFTER PARKING MY VEHICLE THEN SAW GAS ON THE GROUND UNDER VEHICLE. I HAD A MECHANIC LOOK AT IT. HE SAID IT WAS THE PLASTIC SUPPLY OR RETURN PORT ON THE MODULE RESERVOIR ASSEMBLY. IT WAS CRACKED. THEN I FOUND OUT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS BUT ONLY IN CERTAIN STATES. I DON'T LIVE IN THOSE STATES, I LIVE IN PENNSYLVANIA. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THE RECALL ISN'T IN ALL STATES - A DEFECTIVE PART IS A DEFECTIVE PART NO MATTER WHAT STATE IT IS IN. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09V419000(FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: DELIVERY: FUEL PUMP). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO NOTIFIED WHO CONFIRMED THAT THE CONTACT'S VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,000.
I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH MY FUEL PUMP. THE SMELL OF GAS AND SOME SLIGHT LEAKING FROM UNDERNEATH THE CAR NEAR FUEL TANK. CAR HESITATES SOMETIME AND STUMBLES LIKE IT WANTS TO STALL. MY AIR FUEL RATIOS ARE ALL OVER THE PLACE AS WELL AS MY SHORT TERM AND LONG TERM FUEL TRIM. WHICH INDICATES THAT THE FUEL PRESSURE IS NOT CORRECT OR CONSTANT. THIS COULD BE A LEAK. HOWEVER THERE ARE RECALLS OUT FOR THIS PROBLEM THAT FALLS UNDER MY VIN NUMBER BUT NOT MY STATE. I THINK THAT SINCE MY VIN NUMBER FALLS UNDER THE CORRECT RECALLED VIN NUMBERS AND I AM HAVING THE SAME ISSUES THAT IT SHOULD BE FIXED FOR FREE AND NOT HAVE IT LIMITED BY STATES IF IM SHOWING THE SAME SIGNS AND PROBLEMS. *TR

A NOTICEABLE GAS ODOR UPON ENTERING AND EXITING THE CAR WAS NOTICED. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A CERTIFIED GM SERVICE TECHNICIAN. UPON INSPECTION & REVIEW OF RECALLS, IT WAS DISCOVERED THE ISSUE WAS DIRECTLY RELATED TO SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT #09275A ISSUED MARCH 2010 & A PRODUCT SAFETY RECALL #09226B ISSUED MAY 9, 2012. HOWEVER, THE STATE OF OWNERSHIP OR REGISTRATION DOES NOT FALL INTO THE LIST OF STATES INDICATED ON THE RECALL. THE TECHNICIAN INDICATED THE STATES LISTED ARE HOT, MORE SOUTHERN STATES THAN THE STATE OF MISSOURI WHERE THE CAR IS CURRENTLY REGISTERED. HOWEVER, MUCH OF THE MIDWEST HAS SEEN MUCH HIGHER THAN NORMAL TEMPERATURES DURING THE LAST 30-45 DAYS...TEMPS IN THE 100 PLUS RANGE. THE VIN ALSO FALLS WITHIN THE RANGE LISTED ON THE RECALL NOTICE. GM WAS NOTIFIED TO ASK IF THEY WOULD HONOR THE REPAIR BUT INDICATED THE BULLETINS ARE ISSUED BY THE GOVERNMENT & IF THE CARE REGISTRATION OR OWNERSHIP DOES NOT FALL WITHIN THE LIMITS SET, COVERAGE IS NOT PROVIDED. WOULDN'T GM RATHER COVER A MINOR REPAIR BILL THAN TO BE SUED FOR HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS WHEN MY HOUSE BURNS DOWN DUE TO THIS PROBLEM?? IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE TO ME THAT ALTHOUGH I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AS LISTED IN THE RECALL DUE TO HIGH-TEMPERATURE WEATHER, AND MY CAR FALLS WITHIN THE VIN #S LISTED AS WELL AS YEAR, MAKE & MODEL, THAT BECAUSE I DON'T LIVE IN A MORE SOUTHERN STATE, I AM FORCED TO PAY FOR A REPAIR THAT SHOULDN'T BE NEEDED IN THE FIRST PLACE IF THE CAR WAS MANUFACTURED CORRECTLY. IF IT IS A PROBLEM DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE ORIGINAL FINDINGS, IT SHOULDN'T MATTER WHAT STATE I LIVE IN. I'M DISAPPOINTED IN NOT ONLY MY GOVERNMENT BUT GM FOR NOT HONORING THIS REPAIR ISSUE AND WOULD REQUEST A REVIEW. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 90,000.

THE DEALER REFUSED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE UNDER THE RECALL DUE TO THE EXCESSIVE MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE IS 140,000. STATUS UPDATED 11/29/12 THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A LETTER STATING THE BUILD DATE OF HER VEHICLE WAS OUT OF RANGE FOR THE RECALL. HOWEVER, THE CONSUMER DISAGREED WITH THE FINDING, AND STATED THE BUILD DATE WAS JANUARY 2006, WHICH DID FALL WITHIN, THE BUILD DATE FOR THE RECALL. UPDATED 04/15/13

ON 7/05/12 MY DAUGHTER WAS IN A 2006 CHEVY COBALT THAT WAS INVOLVED IN A MAJOR ACCIDENT. SHE STATED SHE LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE STEERING WOULD NOT ALLOW HER TO STEER & REGAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. AS A RESULT OF THIS THE CAR LEFT THE ROAD AND FLIPPED SEVERAL TIMES AND LANDED APPROXIMATELY 25FT INTO A WOODED AREA. NO AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. INJURIES SUSTAINED: LOSS OF CONSCIOUSNESS, CONCUSSION AND SEVERAL LACERATIONS. *TR

THERE IS CURRENTLY A RECALL ON THIS MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR IN THE STATES OF ARIZONA AND NEVADA FOR FUEL TANK PROBLEMS (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID: 09V419000). I LIVE IN MISSOURI WHERE MY CAR WAS ISSUED AND AM CURRENTLY EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEMS TO MY CAR DUE TO THE EXTREME HEAT IN THE AREA. I THINK THAT ALL CARS THAT FALL WITHIN THE MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR SHOULD BE RECALLED IN THE MIDWEST DUE TO THE EXTREME HEAT WE'VE EXPERIENCED. *TR

FOR A LITTLE OVER TWO WEEKS, WE HAVE SMELLED GASOLINE AROUND THE CAR AFTER DRIVING. THE ODOR SEEMED TO BE AROUND THE TANK FILL. I FREQUENTLY RE-TIGHTENED THE CAP, THINKING PERHAPS IT WAS LOOSE AND THE FUMES WERE COMING FROM THERE, OR PERHAPS SOME GAS HAD SPILLED IN AN ODD PLACE WHEN THE TANK WAS FILLED. THEN, LAST WEEKEND DURING A PARTICULARLY HOT WEEK HERE IN OHIO, I OPENED MY TRUNK TO PUT THE GROCERIES IN AND THE TRUNK WAS REEKING WITH GAS FUMES! I AM VERY GLAD THERE WAS NOT AN IGNITION SOURCE CLOSE BY, AS I AM NOT SURE WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED! THIS STRONG SMELL PERSISTED THE REST OF THE HOT WEEKEND. AT HOME, I LEFT THE TRUNK OPEN TO AIR IT OUT. THE WEATHER COOLED LAST MONDAY AND I HAVE NOT SMELLED GAS SINCE. ALSO THE GAS TANK IS NOW ONLY HALF FULL. MY MECHANIC LOOKED AT THE CAR TODAY AND FEELS THAT THE PROBLEM IS LIKELY THE FUEL PUMP, AS THERE IS EVIDENCE OF LEAKAGE. THE CAR IS STILL RUNNING AND UNTIL THE LEAK BECOMES MORE PROBLEMATIC WE WILL MOST LIKELY HOLD OFF ON REPAIRS AS THEY WILL BE EXPENSIVE. STILL, WITH THE WEATHER GETTING HOT AGAIN, I AM NERVOUS ABOUT DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. THE STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE MAKES ME ILL AND UNCOMFORTABLE. I CAN'T BELIEVE IT IS SAFE TO SMELL GASOLINE THAT STRONGLY. I CALLED MY LOCAL GM DEALER AND HAD MY VIN NUMBER CHECKED TO BE SURE IT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE EXISTING RECALL FOR DEFECTIVE FUEL PUMPS. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09V419000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP) HOWEVER SINCE SHE LIVED IN MISSOURI THE VEHICLE WAS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR REPAIRS UNDER THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 61,000.

WE BOUGHT THIS CAR ON JAN 21 OF 2011 USED AT JOHN HOWARD IN MORGANTOWN WV AND 3 MONTHS LATER THE POWER STEERING LIGHT COMES ON AND BEEPS AND THERE IS NO POWER STEERING. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TO 4 TIMES SINCE. I CONTACTED JOHN HOWARD BUT THEY DON'T WANT TO TAKE CARE OF IT UNLESS I PAY FOR IT. THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS PART THEY ARE SAYING FAILED (OR FAILING) AND WHEN I CONTACTED THE CHEVY DEALER THEY SAY THEY ARE NO LONGER RESPONSIBLE FOR IT BECAUSE 19000S MILE AGO IT WAS REPLACED AND ONCE THE RECALL WAS DONE THEN IT IS OUR PROBLEM. AFTER TALKING TO THEM LONGER THEY SUGGESTED I GO TO A GM DEALER HAVE IT TESTED ON MY EXPENSE AND IF ITS THE SAME THING THAT THE RECALL WAS THEN THEY WOULD TALK ABOUT REPLACING IT ON THEIR CHARGE. AFTER GOING TO HARRY GREEN IN CLARKSBURG THEY TELL ME I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR WHOLE THING THAT THE PART IS OUT OF WARRANTY, SOMETHING GM DID NOT TELL ME. MY THING IS IF THEY ARE HAVING THIS MUCH TROUBLE WITH THE POWER STEERING ON THIS CAR, WHICH THEY ARE, I SHOULD BE NO WHERE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR MISTAKE THEY MADE OVER AND OVER AGAIN.
